Ilia Topuria vs Alexander Volkanovski - UFC 298
Ilia Topuria (15-0) has emerged as a generational talent at 145lbs. I thought this was clear on his rise up the rankings, but seeing him patiently pressure and then detonate Volkanovski the way he did was some next level stuff. The UFC featherweight championship has only ever been held by fighters I would call transcendent. Fighters who are on the short list for greatest of all time: Jose Aldo, Max Holloway, Conor McGregor, and Alexander Volkanovski. Topuria seems to be on his way down that path. But he's got a huge test ahead of him.
Topuria will face off with former champion Max Holloway (26-7) in the main event of UFC 308 in what I believe is the finest fight MMA can produce in 2024. Looking forward to it!

Dustin Poirier Net Worth, Biography, Career, Income, Home & Age
Tumblr media
What is Dustin Poirier's Net Worth? American mixed martial arts fighter Dustin Poirier has a net worth of $6 million. He is best known for being the interim UFC Lightweight Champion and for fighting Conor McGregor multiple times. In 2019, he became the Interim UFC Lightweight Champion. In 2022, he moved up to the number two spot in the UFC rankings for lightweights. Poirier gives to charity often and has his own brands of Cajun hot sauce and bourbon that he sells. Conor McGregor Fights and Earnings On January 23, 2021, Dustin defeated Conor McGregor at UFC 257. Dustin was guaranteed $1 million for the fight, vs Conor's $5 million. That does not include a cut of Pay Per View. Early Life and Career Dustin Poirier was born on January 19, 1989 in Lafayette, Louisiana to parents of Acadian French descent. As a teenager, he attended Northside High School for a brief period of time before dropping out due to repeated street-fighting skirmishes. Career Beginnings In 2009, Poirier started getting paid to fight in MMA. In a short amount of time, he put together an impressive 7-0 record by mostly competing in local events in Louisiana and the South. In 2010, when he first competed in World Extreme Cagefighting, Poirier lost to Danny Castillo by unanimous decision. This was his first loss. Later that year, he got back on his feet by beating Zach Micklewright at WEC 52 by TKO. Ultimate Fighting Championship, 2011-2017 After the Ultimate Fighting Championship and World Extreme Cagefighting merged at the end of 2010, Poirier started fighting in the UFC. On New Year's Day 2011, he made his debut in the promotion by taking the place of an injured José Aldo in a fight against Josh Grispi. Poirier won the fight in the end. He beat Jason Young, Pablo Garza, and Max Holloway after that. In May of 2012, Chan Sung Jung beat Poirier in a fight that was named Fight of the Night. Poirier beat Jonathan Brookins in the last fight of the year. Cub Swanson beat him in his first fight of 2013. In his next fight, Poirier beat Erik Koch by coming back strong. Toward the end of 2013, he knocked out Diego Brando. The next year, Poirier beat Akira Corassani in a tough fight and got his second Fight of the Night bonus. But in his next fight, he was knocked out by a TKO from Conor McGregor. After that loss, he moved up to the lightweight division, where people weigh less. In 2015, Poirier's first lightweight fight was against Carlos Diego Ferreira. He knocked out Ferreira in the first round and won Performance of the Night. He then won by TKO in the first round against Yancy Medeiros and got another Performance of the Night bonus. Poirier beat Joseph Duffy to start off 2016. He then beat Bobby Green at UFC 199 in June. In September, Michael Johnson was able to beat Poirier. His next fight, which took place early in 2017, was a brutal one against Jim Miller. He beat Miller, but he was badly hurt in the process. After he got better, he fought Eddie Alvarez in a fight that was ruled a draw. In November, Poirier won his last fight of the year against Anthony Pettis by TKO. (Photo by Logan Riely/Getty Images) Ultimate Fighting Championship, 2018-2022 In April 2018, Poirier fought Justin Gaethje after getting a new deal with the UFC. He won the fight by TKO. Next, he fought Eddie Alvarez again and won by TKO, just like the first time. Poirier's first fight of 2019 was against Max Holloway, who was the UFC Featherweight Champion, for the title of Interim UFC Lightweight Champion. He won the back-and-forth fight by a unanimous decision, which ended Holloway's 13-fight winning streak. At UFC 242, Poirier went up against Khabib Nurmagomedov, the unbeaten UFC Lightweight Champion. Poirier lost to Nurmagomedov by submission in the third round. One of Poirier's most exciting fights was against Dan Hooker in June 2020. Poirier won by unanimous decision and earned his seventh Fight of the Night title. It was a back-and-forth fight. In early 2021, Poirier fought Conor McGregor again. Unlike the first time, he won, making him the first person in MMA to knock out McGregor. Poirier fought McGregor again that summer and knocked him out again to win. At the end of the year, he fought Charles Oliveira for the UFC Lightweight Championship, but Oliveira beat him. When Poirier beat Michael Chandler at UFC 281 in 2022, he had better luck. Charity Poirier gives a lot of money to charitable causes. In 2018, he and his wife started the Good Fight Foundation, which raises money for many different causes. People have given money to help the Acadiana Outreach Center, the family of a Lafayette, Louisiana, police officer who died, and hospital workers, among other groups. Poirier also put some of his UFC fight kits up for auction to raise money for the Second Harvest Food Bank and Lafayette schoolchildren. Business Ventures On the business side of things, Poirier released a brand of Louisiana-style Cajun hot sauce in late 2020. Later, in 2022, he released a brand of bourbon called Rare Stash. Personal Life In 2009, Poirier married Jolie LeBlanc. The couple had a child in 2016. Read the full article

Some other doodads from Dana’s interview with Brett Okamoto:
-They’re relaunching TUF on Fight Pass alone, it’ll start filming likely during the Summer. TUF will have “changes” to it. Meh?
-There WILL be a DWCS this Summer as well. That’ll be on ESPN.
-Andrade vs Rose is happening once they talk to Rose Namajunas and make sure she’s comfortable with fighting. Made it clear that if she’s not interested then “there’s plenty of time for fighting this year.”
-Joanne Calderwood vs Valentina Shevchenko is still the fight they’d like to put together. Both are in Vegas training.
-No real date as of right now for Yan/Aldo, Costa/Adesanya and DC/Miocic but those are the fights they’re trying to put together. Said that chances are it’ll be happening in the Summer for Aldo/Yan and Costa/Adesanya.
-RE: Jones/Ngannou, Dana doesn’t think that Jones wants to hang around at HW and go for the title and think it would lead to a guy like Dom Reyes being forced to wait.  Seems like instead what he wants to do is Reyes/Jones 2 or Jan/Jones.
-Said there’s a lot of drama at welterweight, primarily because every one of the key guys wants to fight Conor McGregor instead of each other.
-There’s been no discussions with Conor about fighting. They want Conor to maybe go back down to 155 lbs.
-Per Dana, Mike Tyson apparently IS fighting. It didn’t sound like he was involved in putting together but there’s some sort of a fight announcement coming soon.

Top 10 KO's of Triple Header Week Athletes
10. Santiago Ponzinibbio vs Neil Magny
This welterweight matchup was on for the ages and a knockout worthy of being on this list. This fight took place at UFC Fight Night: Magny vs Ponzinibbio, on November 17, 2018. Santiago Ponzinibio defeated Neil Magny via KO at 2:36 of the fourth round and earned a Performance of the Night Bonus. Santiago will be fighting Li Jingliang January 16th, on the main card of UFC on ABC: Holloway vs Kattar.
9. Carlos Condit vs Dong Hyun Kim
A lot of people don’t remember this knockout because it happened nearly ten years ago. This was probably the best knockout in Condit’s legendary career and took place at UFC 132 on July 2, 2011. Condit defeated Dong Hyun Kim via KO at 2:58 of the very first round and earned himself a Knockout of the Night Bonus.
8. Matt Brown vs Diego Sanchez
This KO is without a doubt one of the most vicious elbows ever landed in the UFC’s 27 year long history. Matt Brown defeated Diego Sanchez via KO at 3:44 of the very first round and scored himself a Performance of the Night Bonus as well. This bout took place at UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs Pettis on November 11, 2017, and is still featured in many UFC highest reels.
7. Khalil Rountree vs Daniel Jolly
This was a quick fight that took place at UFC Fight Night: Bermudez vs Korean Zombie on February 4, 2017. Khalil Rountree defeated Daniel Jolly via KO at 4:07 of the very first round. This knee was devastating and I’m sure he’ll be looking to land one just like it when he fights Marcin Prachino at UFC 257 on January 23rd.
6. Tyson Nam vs Zarrukh Adashev
This was another quick fight which took place recently at UFC on ESPN: Eye vs Calvillo on June 13, 2020. Tyson Nam defeated Zarrukh Adashev via KO at 0:32 in the first round and earned himself a Performance of the Night Bonus. Tyson will be looking to increase his win streak to 3 when he fights Matthew Christopher Schnell at UFC Fight Night: Chiesa vs Magny on January 20th.
5. Conor McGregor vs Eddie Alvarez
Back in 2016 it truly seemed as if the MMA world revolved around Conor McGregor and everyone was hyped to see him fight for the lightweight championship. Conor McGregor defeated Eddie Alvarez in devastating fashion via KO at 3:04 of round 2. This bout took place at UFC 205 on November 12, 2016, and was truly a night of firsts for the UFC. This was the UFC’s first event to take place in Madison Square Garden and it was the first time someone was every declared the double champ. This event changed the game with “champ champs” becoming more and more common over recent years.
4. Calvin Kattar vs Jeremy Stephens
This bout took place at a catchweight of 150.5 pounds on May 9, 2020, at UFC 249. Calvin Kattar defeated Jeremy Stephens via KO at 2:42 of the second round. Kattar is looking to increase his win streak to 3 when he fights Max Holloway in the main event of the January 16th card.
3. Dan Hooker vs Ross Pearson
Dan Hooker has some of the nastiest knees that we have ever seen in the UFC before. These knees were on display when he defeated Ross Pearson at UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs Hunt on June 11, 2017. The stoppage came at 3:02 of the second round, scored Hooker a performance bonus, and is a finish worth putting on repeat. Maybe we’ll see some more of Hooker’s devastating knees when he fights Michael Chandler at UFC 257 on January 23rd.
2. Conor McGregor vs Jose Aldo
This fight was the end of Conor McGregor’s seriously impressive run in the UFC’s featherweight division and is without a doubt his most spectacular KO. This fight took place at UFC 194 on December 12, 2015, and resulted in Conor getting a KO victory only 13 seconds into the fight. Before this fight there was plenty of doubters thinking Aldo would kill Conor, but they were all proven wrong in an unexpectedly quick fashion. Conor is looking to prove all his doubters wrong again in the main event of UFC 257 on January 23, where he will fight Dustin Poirier at lightweight.
1. Joaquin Buckley vs Impa Kasanganay
This KO won MMAdissect’s KO of the year award (an awards show you can see the results from here) and could honestly go down as the greatest KO of all time. Joaquin Buckley defeated Impa Kasanganay via KO at 2:03 of round 2 on October 10, 2020, at UFC Fight Night: Moraes vs Sandhagen. This performance earned Buckley a Performance of the Night Bonus for obvious reasons which you can see below.

Jonas Bilharinho vs Fabiano Nogueira - Jungle Fight 76
There are a bunch of different ways prospects get hype. Some get them from HL reel finishes. Others get it from being at elite camps. Some get it because they are meme fodder. On rare occasion though, at least for MMA, guys get it by being training partners to elite fighters during big camps. The obvious one I can think of was TJ Dillashaw being the Team Alpha Male Dominick Cruz simulator to start his career.
Jonas Biharinho (10-2-1) was one of those types of prospects. Best known at Jose Aldo’s Conor McGregor impersonator in front of their big fight, Bilharinho’s career never really took. He suffered a big upset KO loss, disappeared for 3 years and returned only to be sidelined yet again by the Covid-19 pandemic basically stopping MMA in Brazil. That said he did make an appearance on the DWCS where he picked up a big highlight reel KO, but not a contract. He’s back now in Brazil, fighting for LFA. The featherweight will fight at LFA 151 this Saturday (Jan 28) against Caio Michael (15-8).

Khabib is going to wait for someone with the word, and, well ... That one's lucky luck.
Ferguson and Gaethje are not the only ones who are fighting with the word. Henry Cejudo faces Dominic Cruz. The Bantamweight belt is also on the line. And while you were away for a while from UFC, Cruz continued to fail. Conor McGregor vs Cowboy Cerrone
After a main event between Conor McGregor VS Kabib Nurmagomedov, Conor decided to take retirement from UFC on  26 March 2019 since after the main event things did’t turn out in Conor’s favour. Now a almost a year later THE NOTORIOUS Conor Mcgregor is going to return on 18th on JAN to fight against Cowboy Cerrone. The talk of a McGregor vs Cerrone first surfaced when Cerrone called out McGregor after beating Alexander Hernandez in January at UFC Fight.  After the win over Hernandez, Cerrone said  The old man has still got it. This is the fight that the UFC wanted. I wanted a Top Five opponent. I want Conor if he'll agree to it. I'm coming for a belt. Cowboy is back."
McGregor tweeted Cerrone  “For a fight like that Donald, I'll fight you. Congratulations." and it was on.
Fight Prediction.
Tumblr media
Both fighters are equipped with good amount of MMA skill. But lets be honest here we know Cerrone with his loses in ring and his age has slowed down while on the other hand Conor is just 30 years old and everyone has witnessed his ability to make moves quickly. I mean the fight against Jose Aldo, it was a 13 sec KO. I mean it’s still hard to say I guess we’ll find out on 19 Jan.
