piglin headcanons/society i guess? i didn't really redesign them much.. these pigs are SMOOTH btw they have thick skin with peach fuzz they're not fluffy do you know how inconvenient that would be when you live in a place that is constantly hot and on fire (don't like if you're not going to reblog)

i finally have a solid script for my piglin conlang! i still need to work on the lexicon, but at the very least i have a form of writing :)

as a bonus, both xotha and narcissus, with their names written in piglin

narcissus gets both a transliteration and a specific name in piglin, dzivetlet translates to "little leader" and there are story reasons for that name and the consequences, but i won't delve too far into it now

having thoughts about the ancient city on this day

because like troy, this thing has layers

i got done with my observations in the flatworld and went to look at how it actually generates and ive learned this:

1 there is no wool from the original inhabitants (gray) outside of the heavily fortified walls and the hidden redstone room, that means no wool in the sauna, ice box, barracks, tall ruins etc

2 the creature in the statues is different from the warden, it looks like warden concept art but for our purposes thats not the warden, thats something else, if it was the warden then it wouldve been changed

3 the warden doesnt live here. let me rephrase that; in the deep dark dev diary video there was talk about how the sculk was like an organism and i think that tracks what with the catalyst eating the souls of the dead but that also means the following: sculk shriekers, not the ancient city, is what calls the warden, the warden defends the sculk not the city

oh lime, you say, why then be the ancient city covered in this fleshy moss

lemmi lay out the timeline

1 the ancient city people live in unwalled cities, or at least the walls dont look like they do now, the city centers as we see them today have three paths up to the.. dias? but only one is accessible due to the walls, they have some way to access the nether to get soul sand and they are very peculiar about refrigerating their items and keeping themselves clean.

there may have been a guardian mob like the iron golem for these people, one that had rounded ears

2 the sculk comes. how it arrives is unknown but it feeds on the dead and dying, it envelops blocks it likes and covers the rest in veins outside the flesh. the ancient people build walls that are insulated in wool, the walls are imposing and threatening in nature and divides the city into quarters, it cannot contain the spread, people still die. they start tinkering with redstone hoping to find something that stops the advance.

sculk by its nature is a sign that an area is no such place of honour. sculk by its very nature denotes the ancient city not as a historical landmark but as a graveyard covered with the corpses of its people.

eventually the people who lived there either die or relocate the cities are abandoned we mourn

there may have been a guardian of a city that is now a guardian of the flesh, a warden to a self made jail full of people that will die at the will of a hungry being so large and unknowable yet also so quietly peaceful

4 much later, the people who made the mineshafts (probably not following the age old proverb of never digging too deep) discover the ancient city and start exploring it with none of the caution that the late ancient people had. many die. they set up many camps and fortifications, it takes them a while to even learn that wool will save them. many die. soon they abandon whatever ideas they had about the city and either die or leave this cursed place full of death.

I am very close to deleting the piglin post. It wasn't SUPPOSED to be a take it was supposed to be me complaining to myself. I didn't want it to break containment I KNOW that they attack if you don't wear gold I KNOW the brutes attack regardless I'm not MAKING UP REASONS TO BE MAD I JUST DIDN'T ELABORATE AND WAS TIRED (well. I'm still tired. I'm just talking more now)

Sorry I just. I'm really frustrated over the notes in that post. I wasn't even complaining specifically about the movie (but I still think they make a horrible Big Bad. They zombify in the overworld and Brutes have no reason to leave the bastions) I don't like their portrayals in the spinoffs either. I don't like that they've been slowly turning into the Savage Barbarians of minecraft when they were initially one of the more notable hostile mobs that had the option to not attack you.

You can trade and hunt with them, you can see their kids playing, their homes are crumbling and they run away from zombie piglins. Why are they suddenly actually Super Aggressive and Bad and You Should Attack And Steal From Them Actually. They are not solely enemies!! I don't want to hurt them if I can help it!!!!

yippee I actually finished the reference fro Briar!!! Very subtle and small design changes overall, but I wanted to make his body shape more obvious and natural. As well as giving him a slightly darker and more saturated skintone. Just felt he was too light for the amount of darker colors I used in his palette, this way the gold sticks out a bit more and the whites of his eyes and teeth are more prominent

I love drawing him so much my favorite skoinky the silliest of fellas!!!! I love him dearly, It was a pleasure to draw his reference. I'm gonna do some school work today though and then hopefully tonight I can work on creating Dagger's new reference!!! He has a bit more design changed though, I really do have a few things to change about his design, though I won't get into that here.

I also got the change to update Rose's reference as well. I figured I needed to show off the spines and such along her back as well as the wither roses growing in her ribs. These aren't visible of course, and I don't want people drawing them too much, but it's good to know. I also added a reference for her helmet, but thats optional as I believe he would like showing off his crown and roses. I should add these flowers and such are part of him/growing out of her. So they do hurt a slight bit when cut or plucked. Anyways that's all for now!
