#mbti is fun but one of the first things my lecturer did in the personality segment of the course is discredit it 🤣

I just realised MBTI uses behaviour to predict personality but in science personality is used to predict behaviour 🤔
Using a personality model and focusing on traits might be more beneficial than doing MBTIs to figure out characterisation

hi! idk if anyone is looking for mbti things, but here are some channels on yt and stuff that I like or recommend!
Love Who: okay this is literally my favorite mbti channel ever! the guy’s name is Nathan and he’s an intp, I believe. I love the way he explains things and he does comedy sketches every now and again. (also his accent is just *chef’s kiss*)
Frank James: you probably already know him, he’s kind of a staple in the mbti community. but if you don’t, you should check him out! frank is an infj and he mostly does mbti stereotype sketches or introvert comedy or other mbti videos.
MBTI Memes: another favorite! this channel does the types as tiktoks or movie clips (like the types flirting for Valentine’s day). never fails to make me laugh! it seems like a lot of work and I definitely applaud whoever’s behind this channel for their dedication!
dear kristen: she’s an esfp which is cool bc the mbti community is kinda dominated by intuitives and it’s nice to get another type’s ideas in the community! what I love about her is that she has the types interact w each other in her sketches which is soo funny to watch. she also does this thing where she types tea bags based on their descriptions and it’s amazing haha
psycho-legit: okay they don’t really post as often, but the videos they do have up are so great. they do the “types as” things like for movies or tv shows or celeb things.
LiJo: Lindsey is an intj and does some sketches and also just some mbti educational sort of vids. her sketches are actually the cognitive functions instead of the 16 types, which is a cool take. if you’re trying to familiarize yourself w the functions those videos might help!
Erik Thor: erik is another infj and he kind of has his own mbti system. I don’t really use his system, but I still like his videos.
Benjamin Spicy: this is a smaller channel run by an intp. he does a lot of videos for inxps, so if you’re one of them, there’s a lot there for you! he also does some songs that are super good!
Auto Alchemy: Jeffery is an entp and he mainly uses the objective personality system, which I don’t know that much about, so some things go a bit over my head lol. but his videos are still very useful and he did made type raps that I loved (fr tho I had the infj one stuck in my head for days)
Sara MBTI: she’s an enfj, I think, and she posts videos of people who’s type you can try and guess. this helped me so much when I was building my typing skills. Sara also does other educational vids, too!
C.S. Joseph: I saved chase for last bc I kind of have a lot to say about him. he’s a great example of an entp, btw. when I first started to learn about the functions, he was the place I came. I wish I had found love who or another channel before him bc he is very socionics heavy and that wasn’t really what I looking for. after finding other ideas and forming my own opinion, I find I don’t agree with him on many things, but you might, so I’m keeping him on the list. he doesn’t make lectures on yt anymore (you’ll have to pay on his website) but I like a few of his old ones. I’m not a huge fan of mr. csj but I’ll admit, he did help me. if I were just beginning however, I’d start out with some of the channels I listed earlier!
I really hoped this helped you if you’re new to the mbti community, or even if you’re not, you might have found someone new to check out! have fun!!

Name: Elsie
Writing Blog URLs: @jyeonvoir, @linochee, and @cinnominroll
What fandoms do you write for?: The Boyz, Stray Kids, and NCT (Mostly for dreamie)
Age: 20
Nationality: Indonesian
Languages: Native-level Indonesia, Intermediate English, and Beginner-level Chinese
Star Sign: Aries
MBTI: ESFP-A
Favorite color: Soft blue and pink
Favorite food: Fried chicken
Favorite movie: Along With The Gods: Two Worlds
Favorite ice cream flavor: Chocolate
Favorite animal: Cat and Dog
Dream job (whether you have a job or not): Since I was in middle school, I dreamed to be a news anchor or a tv presenter
Coffee or tea? What are you ordering?: I actually prefer milk more than those two, But if I have to choose, I will go with tea
Go-to karaoke song: Popular songs of the year that I know (Western and Korean)
If you could have one superpower, what would you choose?: Space and time manipulation
If you could visit a historical era, which would you choose?: Srivijaya era (3rd – 14th centuries) or Majapahit era (1293–1500)
If you could restart your life, knowing what you do now, would you?: I don’t think I would. Restarting my life would mean I have a chance to fix my future, but it also means I might lose something I have in the future (and it does not always mean good)
If you were a trope in a teen high school movie, what would you have been?: Either the popular kid or the loner
Would you rather fight 100 chicken-sized horses or one horse-sized chicken?: 100 chicken-sized horses. Normal-sized chicken already scares me, I can’t imagine what will happen if I have to fight horse-sized chicken, even it’s one.
Do you believe in aliens/supernatural creatures?: Yes, I do. Not everything can be explained in science, y’know.
Fun fact about yourself that not everyone would know?: When I was five y.o, I had my parents panicked once. So back then, instead of going home with my little sister, I went to the hospital alone and visited my mother who had just given birth to my little brother without giving any notice to them. My neighbour, who saw my little sister went home without me, worried and called my dad. Panicked, my dad called my mom and told them that I was missing. Lucky, I arrived at my mom’s room just when she answered my dad’s call and they hadn’t called the police yet. Later that night, I got a long lecture from my dad at home.
When did you post your first piece?: If I remember it correctly, it was around early July 2018 on my personal blog -- one or two weeks after I just joined Tumblr. But, before Tumblr, I had posted fics on Wattpad in late 2014
Why did you decide to write for Tumblr?: It’s all because I found a few interesting fics here and then it motives me to write again. I also happened to be looking for a new platform to write since I was bored with Wattpad.
Do you write fluff/angst/crack/general/smut, combo, etc? Why?: I do write fluff and angst fics, but mostly fluff because I’m a sucker for fluff. I’m not good with angst and bad at writing smut
Do you write OCs, X Readers, Ships...etc?: Used to write Ocs, but since I joined Tumblr I write X Readers more often than OCs.
What inspires you to write?: MVs (The one with a story) and song lyrics
What genres/AUs do you enjoy writing the most?: Romance with a little bit of fantasy
What do you do when you hit a rough spot creatively?: Take a break from writing for a while
What is your favorite work and why? Your most successful?: My favorite work of mine and the most succesful, excluding the drabbles and timestamps, is Lee Know’s fic titled “What Are You Up To?”. Among the oneshots I had made, it is the only fic that reached more than 200 notes and I’m quite proud of it. It was inspired by a Korean novel I read and a bitter experience of my junior high school love.
What do you hope your readers take away from your work?: I hope my readers can see many sides of a relationship, either it friendship or between lovers. Sometimes, relationship can’t be smooth and have a happy ending like in movies and novels, and it’s not always sad and dark. Also, since the culture that I have grown up with different from people that I meet from this online platform, I want to show how I see a relationship supposed to be.
Who is your favorite person to write about?: In the boyz, it was Sunwoo and Kevin since they are the easiest out of twelve to write for me. In Stray Kids, It is either Bang Chan, Hyunjin, or Lee Know. As for NCT, I think it will be Jaemin and Jeno.
Do you think there’s a difference between writing fanfiction vs. completely original prose?: Yes, I do. To me, writing fanfiction is easier than an original. In fanfiction, I don’t need to make a detailed characterization of the characters since it’s using a real person as the reference. But as for an original, the more detailed the characterization of the characters the more people could get the sketch of the story since this is the character that I made myself without a reference.
What do you think makes a good story?: A good description, and language that easy to understand, followed with a balanced proportion of dialogue and description.
What is your writing process like?: I start by writing the outline first and do some research before starting to write it. I don’t have a specific plan like when should I write or how long it should be, but I tend to write when I’m in the mood. I can’t force myself to finish a fic just in one week (If I do, I will not satisfy with it and the ending will feel rushed). That’s why It usually takes a long time for me to finish a fic or req.
Would you ever repurpose a fic into a completely original story?: Yes. Of course I would. I’m actually in the process of repurposing one of my old fics into a webtoon with my little sister. But we don’t know when we will start.
What tropes do you love, and what tropes can’t you stand?: I love strangers-to-lovers, enemies-to-lovers, secret relationship, and bad boy tropes. To be exact, any trope that show a good development of the characters and has a fantasy in it will be in my to-read list. However, I can’t stand the tropes with angst (especially if I’m not in the mood to read angst), break up, and thriller in it. I will still read it, but not on the top of my to-read list.
What has been one of the biggest factors of your success (of any size)?: Supportive friends and family members.
Do you ever feel there are times when you’re writing for others, rather than yourself?: No, I don’t. I always write for myself and put my satisfaction first before anything.
Do you ever feel like people have misunderstood you or your writing at times?: No, I don’t. It never happens to me.
Do your offline friends/loved ones know you write for Tumblr?: Some of my college friends who are a Kpop stan do know about it, though they don’t know my blog url. Only my little sister does.
Do you think fanfic writers get unfairly judged?: Yeah, most of the times. Especially for those who write X Readers fics.
Do you think art can be a medium for change?: Absolutely. Art has the power to inspire change in the masses.
How much would you say audience feedback/engagement means to you?: Feedback and constructive criticism on my works are so, so valued! It’s important for me to able to improve and motivate myself.
What is one thing you wish you could tell your followers?: Please stay healthy and be happy. Feel free to talk to me whenever you want because my ask always open for you.
Do you have any advice for aspiring writers who might be too scared to put themselves out there?: You will never know your potential until you try it. It’s okay if your first work doesn’t look great. No one is perfect, even me. I used to make so many grammatical errors in my first fic (even in the newest one, though it wasn’t that bad like before). As long as you satisfy with it, you still can improve it in the future.
Are there any times when you regret joining Tumblr?: Nah, There aren’t.
Do you have any mutuals who have been particularly formative/supportive in your Tumblr journey?: Yes, I do. And I’m thankful for that. Because of them, I was able to learn new things and experience many styles of writing by reading theirs.

Dr. Emery Simmons-Winchester
Hey guys! An ask post got me thinking about my girl Emery from my Sam series For Better or Worst.
So I decided to fill out the questions about her, in case you’re interested since a lot of her background has been kept as only small glimpses due to the plot so far. Here are those questions from the ASK POST. (Since I know no one would actually send me asks, especially about OCs.)
Basics:
1. What is their gender?
Female
2. What is their sexuality?
Heterosexual
3. What is the meaning behind their name? Do they have any nicknames?
Meaning: Derived from Emmerich, which can mean brave and powerful. Also a hard, dark substance (i.e. emery boards)
Sam calls her ‘Em’ and ‘Baby’
Georgie used to call her Mama E
4. Do they have any siblings? How many? Are they older or younger?  Which sibling are they the closest with?
She has an older half brother that she isn’t close with, but that’s just because he lived across the country from her and her son.
5. What’s their relationship with their parents like? What about other relatives?
Emery loved her parents to the ends of the earth. Though her dad wasn’t always around, his parents helped raise her. She was by her mother’s side when she died from cancer.
6. What would they give their life for?
Georgie. And redemption. Though there are others that she cares for and her dedication to them will be tested deeply soon.
7. Are they in a romantic relationship? With who? How did they meet?
Is an arranged marriage romantic? I guess it depends on who you ask. She is currently married to Sam Winchester. They met via some shady dealings from one Naomi, Angel of the Lord.
8. What do they believe will happen to them after they die? Does this belief scare them?
Can I laugh at how deep we are getting in the “Basics” section of this?! Like, damn and then the next question is like a Teen Bop quiz.
Emery believes in Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory. She grew as a psychic, knowing the world as it exists on the show. She still believes the angels are on humanity’s side and are her path to forgiveness, if not salvation.
9. What is their favorite color? Favorite animal?
Emery likes rich earth tones with some gold in for accents. She looks good in just about anything though.
10. What are some of their talents/skills?
She is a medieval history professor, and an outstanding lecturer. She reads people really well, even after losing her psychic powers. She has a decent singing voice. Is an amazing mom. And when she makes up her mind to do something, she follows through. Very hard to change her mind or challenge her moral compass.
11. If they could make a mark on history, what would they like it to be?
Just that the world was better, in any small way, from her influence.
12. How old are they? When is their birthday?
She is 39, born January 16, 1981.
13. What do they do for fun?
Read. Play with her dog Bandit. Go for walks. Listen to music. She used to mess with people who didn’t know she was psychic, but nothing malicious just little things that would stump strangers. She also used to play video games with Georgie.
14. What is their favorite food? How often do they get to eat it?
Potatoes in all of their glorious forms. She also love Cajun cuisine. She isn’t much of a cook, because she never had time to go all out. But french fries are easy enough to come by!
15. What was something their parents taught them?
That no matter who you are, you have a place in this world and a job to do.
Family always comes first.
16. Are they religious?
Yes, but most of the strict devotion rose from the death of her son.
17. Where were they born?
Gary, Indiana
18. What languages can they speak? Where did they learn these languages?
Different dialects of American English. She can read Old English and Middle English from her years of study.
Latin, from high school and some college.
19. What is their occupation?
Currently a professor, formerly a part-time psychic.
20. Do they have any titles? How did they earn them?
She has a PHD in History and a Masters in Education. Dr. Simmons-Winchester if you’d like. ;)
Personality:
21. What is their favorite thing about their personality?
She appreciates her own snark, when it comes out.
22. What is their least favorite thing about their personality?
Her psychic upbringing game her a lot of empathy for others. She hates how weak that makes her seem.
23. Do they get lonely easily?
No, she keeps too busy to feel lonely. Her son was always enough for her... until she found Sam.
24. Do you know their MBTI type?
No because those tests are way too fucking long.
25. What is their biggest flaw?
Self-assigned guilt.
26. Are they aware of their flaws?
Not all of them, who is?
27. What is their biggest strength?
Her dedication.
28. Are they aware of their strengths?
Yes, she isn’t one to sell herself short.
29. How would they describe their own personality?
She would say she is smart, kind and generally tough.
30. When frightened, will they resort to “fight” or “flight”?
She isn’t one for physical violence, but she will stand up vocally. She has had to defend herself physically in the past and that cost her her son.
31. Does this character ever put somebody else’s needs before their own? Who do they do this for? How often do they do this?
Constantly, in the past it was mostly her son, but now also her husband.
32. What is their self esteem like?
Good. She owns her strengths and is aware of her shortcomings. Though she is slightly shaken from a recent rejection, but she knows better than to get too attached when there are other factors in play.
33. What is their biggest fear? How would they react to having to face it?
Failure to protect her son. She would go to the ends of possibility to save him.
34. How easily do they trust others with their secrets? With their lives?
It took almost five months of an arranged marriage for her to tell Sam about her son, his death and her side of their deal with Heaven. Though she trusts Sam, she didn’t reveal much about her past.
We’re going to have to wait and see if she can trust Sam or Cas with her life.
35. What is the easiest way to annoy them?
Talk cruelly about other people on end. Chew with your mouth open.
36. What is their sense of humor like? Give an example of a joke they would find humorous.
She has a pretty decent sense of humor. Not too dark, but definitely has a sarcastic streak. I think she would love memes, especially living with a preteen gamer, she would have seen her share. But she’s still a dorky mom, so she only shares the obvious ones with her TAs.
Tumblr media
37. How easy is it for them to say “I love you”? Do they say it without meaning it?
Fairly easy, especially with family. Never.
38. What do others admire most about their personality?
Her strength of character and her determination to DO GOOD.
39. What does their happily ever after look like?
She hasn’t really thought about it beyond the task at hand. Keeping up her charade with Sam in order to save Georgie’s soul and Dean. They have quiet the dream life from the outside: great jobs, nice house in a good neighborhood. But none of that can last, not for them. Right?
40. Who do they trust most? Is that trust mutual?
Her mother, but she passed about two years ago. Yes.
Physical Profile:
41. What does their laugh sound like? Do they snort when they laugh? How often do they laugh?
Her voice is smoky, much like her faceclaim Rashida Jones. Her laugh can get breathy or silent if it is a really deep one. She laughs in little spells, but nothing like she used to.
42. What is their favorite thing about their physical appearance?
Her sparkling hazel eyes.
43. What is their least favorite thing about their physical appearance?
She thinks she has a big nose. But her complex is so good, she doesn’t dwell.
44. Do they have any scars? If so, what are the stories behind those scars?
Yes, she had a total hysterectomy after her mother died so she has laparoscopic scaring. She also has stretch marks from pregnancy. The biggest scars are on her left upper arm, where her son scratched her when he first shifted into a werewolf.
45. How would they describe their own appearance?
Just a 30-someting mixed girl rocking what she’s got.
46. How easily can they express emotions? How easily can they hide emotions?
She is tempered first and foremost. Being vulnerable is not something she does regularly, but she doesn’t hide the big things. They’re too much for a reason.
47.    What’s their pain tolerance like?
She is a women of color and a single mother, her pain tolerance is insanely high because people don’t listen anyway. (yes, that’s shade)
48. Do they have any tattoos? What are the stories behind those tattoos?
She doesn’t. (Desperately trying to remember if she does now... oops?)
49. Do they have any piercings?
Just a single on both ears.
51. What is their height? Weight?
5′4″ 130lbs ish
52. What is their body type? Are they muscular, chubby, skinny, etc?
She thin, not overly fit.
53. What is their hair color? Eye color? Skin tone?
Dark brown/ Hazel/ Dark Beige
55. What is their alcohol tolerance like? What kind of drunk are they? How bad are their hangovers?
She has a fairly low tolerance for alcohol, but that’s generally because she doesn’t drink often. When she gets wine drunk she gets affectionate. The few times she has been hungover have been exhausting because she doesn’t give her self time to recover.
56. What do they smell like? Why do they smell like this? (Is it the things they’re around or a perfume they wear?)
Her natural scent is warm spices, with almost a vanilla finish. She has a jasmine perfume that makes her slightly more feminine and floral.
57. How do they feel about sex? Are they a virgin?
She hasn’t had an active sex life until she married Sam. Before that it had been a few years. No, she isn’t a virgin and this is a dumb question because it is an outdated misogynistic construct.
58. What is their most noticeable physical attribute?
Her big, bright, multicolored eyes. Then her smile.
59. What does their resting face look like? Do they have RBF?
Tumblr media
Not exactly resting, but you get the point. Yes.
60. Describe the way they sleep.
She sleeps curled on her side, in the middle of the bed. If Sam’s already up, she is stealing his pillow to cuddle. If Sam is sleeping elsewhere, she stays to her side.
Environment:
61. Which season is their favorite season?
Summer, though she was born in the winter, she prefers it if she can function outside or at least read by the lake.
62. Have they ever been betrayed? How did it affect their ability to trust others?
Okay, yes, everyone has been betrayed. She is currently dealing with the ramifications of an unjust deal with Heaven. It’s not easy for her.
63. What is always guaranteed to make them smile?
Her dog Bandit.
64. Do they get cold easily? Do they get overheated easily?
Yes, she is a slight woman, she gets cold easily.
65. What’s their immune system like? Do they get sick often? How do they react to getting sick?
She has a solid immune system, even when she gets sick she powers through. Bad mental health days knock her down a few pegs though.
66. Where do they live? Do they like it there?
Currently living in Denver, CO with Sam and Bandit. She lived in Chicago with her son and dog previously.
67. Is their bedroom messy? What about their bathroom? Kitchen? Living room?
No, she keeps her bedroom clean because she shares it (for the most part) now. The bathroom and kitchen are always spotless. The living room is a little cluttered, but that’s generally Bandit’s toys and research she leaves out when she’s not grading in the dining room.
68. How did their environment growing up affect their personality?
She was surrounded by love. Her mom was a waitress at a diner and her paternal granddad and big mama helped raised her. She knew she had to work hard for anything to come to her and she also was psychic so she was able to sense how her family was “odd” or “wrong” depending on whose thoughts she heard. She grew up learning to respect people and kill them with kindness, or wit if she had to.
69. How did the people in their environment growing up affect their personality?
See above.
70. How do they feel about animals? Do they have any pets?
She loves animals, but is very much a dog person. Yes, Bandit, the best boy ever.
71. How are they with children? Do they have any? Do they want any?
She is amazing with kids, especially one on one. She has a son George, who would have been 13 last spring. She is unable to have more.
72.   Would they rather have stability or comfort?
Stability. Knowing what to expect is its own level of comfort.
73. Do they prefer the indoors or outdoors?
She is generally indoors, but generally all of her active free time is spent outside.
74. What weather is their favorite? Do they like storms?
To be in, sunny and clear. She likes storms from the safety of inside and thunder more than the lightning.
75. If given a blank piece of paper, a pencil, and nothing to do, what would happen?
She would probably doodle old geometric patterns found on ancient manuscripts as a border. Possibly make a list of things that need doing or write the same word over and over again in different fonts.
76. How organized are they?
Fairly, not obsessively so.
77. What is their most prized possession?
Her PhD.
78. Who do they consider to be their best friend?
She was close with a few colleagues at her last job, a small college just outside of Chicago. But her mother was her best friend so it is hard to put that title on someone else since she lost her.
79. What is their economic situation?
Currently upper-middle class. Previously working class struggling with medical bills.
80. Are they a morning person or a night owl?
She is not a morning person, but doesn’t stay up too late unless she has too.
Miscellaneous:
81. Are they bothered by the sight of blood?
No. Unless someone is severely hurt.
82. What is their handwriting like?
Not too neat, but generally a combination of print and cursive.
83. Can they swim? How well? Do they like to swim?
Yes, well enough to not die, she doesn’t know all the strokes or anything. Sure, but not as much as she likes sunbathing.
84. Which deadly sin do they represent best?
Oh, this is a tough one! I am going to say Envy, because though she had a great family growing up, she was still very much aware of what other people had. And their problems always seemed so frivolous.
85. Do they believe in ghosts?
Yes, she was a psychic, she spoken to spirits before.
86. How do they celebrate holidays? How do they celebrate birthdays?
She has her great-grandmother’s china that she keeps for the big holidays, Christmas, Easter, etc. She would host the cousins and aunties with her grandma and once her mom got too sick, it was harder to get everyone together. She and George would go to her Aunt Janice’s house when they could for Sunday dinner, but traffic in and out of the city was a pain during the school year.
87. What is something they regret?
Killing her son in self-defense.
88. Do they have an accent?
Not usually, she was in an academic setting for so long she doesn’t let it slip out often.
89. What is their D&D alignment?
Neutral Good, laws and those who enforce them should evolve quicker than they do.
90. Are they right or left handed?
Right.
92. Describe them as a John Mulaney gif.
Tumblr media
93. What’s the most iconic line of dialogue they’ve ever said?
She groaned, grabbing his face in both her hands. “Fine! Asshole. But you better make it worth it.”
She was pointing a finger at his agreeing puppy dog face now.

Whoops this is long
A friend said something recently based on something that also happened recently.
The something that happened: We had gathered (online) to hang out and a friend (A) had asked me about my thoughts on teaching in a Christian school. I said that was fine, but I was equally fine about teaching in a public school. The same friend started to go on at length about how it was important to teach in public schools and about praying and leaving your burdens and troubles with God and praying for the students to come to know Jesus. The friend said everything twice. I smiled and nodded and eventually said I was going to leave and left the meeting.
What my other friend said: later that evening, my other friend (B) sent a message that they knew the friend (A) acted like that sometimes and that I was free to stop them (politely) if it was getting a bit bothersome because “we are all adults”. I said that was fine, I was used to it. My friend (B) and I met up later and spoke more about it, extending the conversation to their dislike of labels and how people didn’t always treat their friend (A) nicely, claiming something must be “wrong” about them, that fellowship could be exclusive at times and that labels often produced a sense of pity for that person.
For some reason, this bothered me. Both situations bothered me.
I know why friend A bothered me. Their talking at length reminded me of some people I had met at church before who offered their unsolicited advice and you listened to them out of respect but did not take the time to discuss/argue/disagree with them because it wasn’t really worth the effort. They had good intentions, they weren’t trying to make you do anything. But this event reminded me of those times and naturally I tuned out pretty quickly. I don’t really appreciate being lectured at, especially when it sounds like (not that the friend thinks this way) they know better, which is ironic because the friend (A) mentioned that sometimes people in Christian schools talk like they know better/are better.
But I’m not 100% sure I know why the second situation bothered me.
I think part of it may be because stopping someone mid-sentence or mid-conversation does not directly correlate to an adult response? I am an adult, yes, so does that mean I have to stop a person when I find them irritating? Not necessarily. Would a polite “thank you for sharing” have been appropriate? I don’t know. I had trouble responding after the lengthy speech from the friend (A) because I couldn’t remember what was said to begin with (even then my recollection above is not very specific). Is it fine to stop someone? I think so. Did I feel like I was capable of doing so in that situation? Not really. My friend (B) also did not stop them.
It also reminded me of a student I had taught before who had a habit of asking questions and ranting a bit. It was a skill to navigate those conversations so that I could still address the student’s curiosity and make them feel heard while also leaving opportunity for other students to speak and be involved in the class.... which leads me to the labels.
This student had some kind of... something. It required a label, nonetheless.
I think what may have bothered me about my friend’s (B) outright dislike of labels made it sound like labels didn’t matter/weren’t important/not needed. In some cases, I think this is true. MBTI, horoscopes, and zodiac signs are good examples of unnecessary labels. They might be fun, but they don’t define you. But some labels have more weight to them. Mental disorders, learning disabilities, religious groups, sexual identity. These labels will often have more weight.
The perspective I offered to my friend in response to their thoughts was that the risk behind labels is that they can be reductive. If all you see of a person (or of yourself) is “depressed” then yes that’s a big issue. Or if all you see is “autistic” then it is a problem. A person is not just one or two labels. Everyone is unique and multifaceted. There are tons of labels used to describe everyone. But if you allow one to swallow you, that can be dangerous. So I guess what I was trying to say is that labels can be helpful and harmful, but the usage and significance given to them is what is important to note (ie so it’s not the label of “autism” that should be the problem, but the act of making “autism” everything about you that IS). Of course, this was not meant to change anyone’s perspective, but I found it puzzling nonetheless.
I figure that this friend (A) may have been accused (?) of being autistic, which is what sparked my other friend’s (B) comments, as he saw the label as unnecessary in any capacity and that the label would bring pity. I guess this struck a nerve with me as I think labels can be helpful in some capacities (medical diagnoses, learning disabilities, to name a couple), and it’s not meant to be reductive or pitiful for that person. It is simply a fact. You have _____. And that diagnosis/label may bring about challenges, but having a name doesn’t take away that challenge or necessarily make it worse. Of course there will be people that will use it to stereotype or create a prejudice, but on an objective level the label doesn’t matter.
I guess I speak from an ideal perspective as well. “Oh it would be nice it everyone was just respectful and inclusive of all people regardless of their labels” when in reality that doesn’t always happen. So I understand not wanting to apply a label, but resisting testing (especially if testing will help you get support you need) or rejecting all labels can be harmful.
With all this in mind, perhaps what people miss out on (and I’m thinking in the fellowship context for this idea) is that our identity is founded in Christ. First and foremost we are followers of God. That should be the primary identity/label that we stick with and look at. All the other ones fall to the wayside. So if we let other labels create boundaries in our relationships with other believers (”oh they have autism so they won’t get it. Let’s not include them.”), that is really not cool. But to have other labels attached to your identity as a Christian seems fine to me (”I am a Christian who also happens to have autism”). Even moreso, using these to build a relationship with other believers can be a powerful tool (”Oh, you’re a Christian? Me too. You also happen to be an ISFJ? Me too!”). Of course that relationship is founded first and foremost in Christ, but to have other things/labels in common isn’t harmful either. It can help someone feel understood and heard within the Christian community.
As someone who does not have a mental disability/other similar label attached to them, I can’t necessarily speak based on experience, but I imagine that having someone in your community that you can relate to is positive. So do you need to be upfront in your labels? Not really. Are they harmful? They can be, but they don’t have to be.
So I guess I am taking more of a moderate approach towards these labels, as  have seen them help people understand themselves better. In turn, we can use this understanding to extend understanding and empathy towards others. Does it always need a label? No. But should we reject them? I don’t think we have to.

MBTI types as people I know
MBTI types as people I know I’ve seen this a lot around here and I thought heck why not Written by an INFJ
ISFJ - Best Friend - Seriously get yourself one of these they’re THE BEST - Super stable and don’t like drama - You can have fun with them over really small things like sharing M&M’s on the way to school - Can cook like heaven - Easily offended so watch your mouth - Will share anything with you but you have to ask first - Mom friend
ISTJ - Best Friend - JUDGMENTAL AF seriously go to a random city with them and they can give an half hour roast on a stranger’s shoes - Notice literally everything - Likes their cats over you and will send you adorable snapchats of them - Will argue with the teacher and ask impossible questions until they cry - They’re aesthetically gifted - Sometimes does things that make you go “wtf kid” but you love them anyway
INTJ - MBTI buddy. I introduced them to it and now they finally feel like somebody understands them even if it’s just the internet - Seriously if you know one of these TALK TO THEM AND ASK THEM QUESTIONS they’re usually quiet but if you ask they’ll like that - Intriguing - Emotions are not their thing so don’t be feely with them - They can’t cry - Will somehow get you to tell your deepest traumas at 2 am for no apparent reason - Do not take their painful, mean, accurate comments too seriously or you’ll end up with a major inferioritycomplex
ESFP - Highly Recommended - You can talk to them about literally anything - Seriously there is no private when you talk to one of these which is kinda nice because sometimes there’s shit you can’t even tell your bff and that’s when the esfp comes in handy - Will do stupid stuff and then continue to do even more stupid stuff - They mean well but it somehow goes wrong every time - Drama Queen - GOSSIP they’re not good at it but if you wanna shit talk about someone they’re yours - You easily forget you’re angry at them - Feed them lemonade and say it’s wine and they’ll believe you and act drunk
ESFJ - Perfect - Annoyingly Perfect - They join like five giveaways a day and they actually win something - SO DAMN LUCKY - Confident af on the outside but secretly pretty insecure - Friends with everybody and they genuinely like everybody - Knows everything about everyone but you don’t know a thing about them

MORE PUNS. - Has watched a lot of shows and will remember every single episode which is great because they’ll understand your references when others don’t - They have no sense of timing - Sometimes make harsh comments without knowing the impact on someone and then act like the others are being petty - They mean well but they’re not very insightful - Snapchat game is on point
ENTJ - Supersmart and annoyed at people who are not - Watches horror series for fun - Probably was the kind of kid that operated on their stuffed animals with real scissors - They have a strange liking for the dead - They care a lot about their friendships - They expect you to feel what they are feeling and are Highly Disappointed when you don’t - Secretly cinnamon rolls

INFP - So innocent - Their pure souls don’t even know what smut is and all that - PROTECT THEM AGAINST THE CRUELNESS OF THIS WORLD - They always have food and/or are talking about food - Under appreciated - Cry over every goddamn movie even Kung Fu Panda - They will tell you when you’re being rude or when you death stare and they won’t go easy on you - Put them together with an INTJ that results in a ten-minute lecture on being nice from the INFP it’s hilarious - Not taken seriously but you should because they give pretty damn good life advice - “If you ever wanna be happy in life, buy purple sunglasses”
ESTJ - Will someday be president - Moral knight - Will sigh at your stupidity but help you anyways - Not the best at communication when it comes to group projects - You only know you love them when they’re gone because then you realize that they are the link between everyone in your friend group and without them everything falls apart - The one I know is super innocent idk if that goes for all ESTJs - Is willing to do A LOT for their friends - The grumpiest grump or a super hyper and happy no inbetween
ENFP - Way too nice - Seriously they’re nice to everyone so I’m never sure if they genuinely like you or if they’re just being nice - Look good in every goddamn photo even when they’re not trying - They look like happy campers but they have secrets that they don’t wanna tell to anybody (except to the INFJ and i’m really annoyed it’s the one I know and not me) - Did I mention they’re too nice?
INTP *the intj friend wrote this because he knows the intp better - Really likes food - The best person to have an argument with, but will at the same time try to agree with you if it means something to you - Sleeps 12 hours a day - Always late - Looks after and cares for his friends a lot although they don’t notice it - Does not like telling intimate stuff - Needs to solve the fuck out of everything - The best person to have stupid and meaningless conversations/arguments (something in between) with about the immortality of lobsters

EPISODE 4: MILLY
Tumblr media
Writing Blog URL(s): @bumblebeenct
Name: Milly
Age: 18
Nationality: Welsh
Languages: English
Star Sign: Capricorn
MBTI: ISFP-T
What fandom(s) do you write for?
I write for NCT, but I have written for Harry Potter in the past
When did you post your first piece?
Around the empathy era I’m pretty sure, 2018? I used to do moodboards only but I was inspired by other writers to give it a go
Do you write fluff/angst/crack/general/smut, combo, etc? Why?
I find that I stick to the fluff/angst tropes because they’re easier to formulate because I can relate myself to the scenario more. I also find that its also more interesting to write angst because there's complications to a story that take longer to form and you have to really think about the different emotions the characters are feeling.
Do you write OCs, X Readers, Ships...etc?
I write x reader mostly, but at some point in the future I’m thinking of writing an OC purely because the concept I want to focus on has a particular emphasis on name and I don’t think it would work with y/n
Why did you start writing on Tumblr?
I used to use Wattpad but it was very difficult to promote myself and I struggled to meet anyone through it. On tumblr it was much easier to orientate and the community was so much nicer.
What inspires you to write?
My mutuals! And other writers on tumblr, everyone is so supportive and kind it’s amazing. Also the feedback I sometimes get from readers, it makes me really happy whenever I get a comment or someone interacts with a piece I enjoyed writing, or alternatively when someone supports a fic I wasn’t confident in as it really boosts my confidence :)
What genres/AUs do you enjoy writing the most?
School/ College aus because they’re very familiar and I am confident in getting the tropes and ideas right. But I also like works inspired by movies or songs because there’s so much to work from and it’s nice to see where you can take the plot and lyrics in your own story.
What do you hope your readers take away from your work?
That writing is for everyone, honestly at the end of the day I’m just a kid in my room writing stories about artists I’m a really big fan of. If you want to write you can, and you don’t have to necessarily be a “big” blog or writer to do it.
What do you do when you hit a rough spot creatively?
Take a break, that’s my first port of call - usually in the method of food or I look at the inspiration material again, I listen to the song, read the lyrics, consult my friends and mutuals for help. It’s always good to be able to put something down to start again later when you’re struck with inspiration
What is your favorite work and why? Your most successful?
My favourite personally at the moment (since one I really like is currently, as of answering this question, unpublished) is ‘Remember Me’ purely because it was the work I was the most passionate about writing and it really let me explore a new field of writing, since a lot of my stuff had been fluff before. My most successful in terms of notes is my Mark one shot ‘Sugar and Spice’ and I’m very proud of it.
Who is your favorite person to write about?
Park Jisung, my ult bias, I have to convince myself to write for other members sometimes as I often resist the urge to be a Jisung blog. However I have been enjoying writing for Mark and Hendery recently, as my other NCT biases
Do you think there’s a difference between writing fanfiction vs. completely original prose?
To a certain extent yes, it really depends on the writer. For many fanfiction stories, including ones we may label “cliche” the only difference is who it’s about, there are countless amazing fics I’ve read which I would assume could be made into a novel, the only thing making it fanfiction being the characters themselves.
What do you think makes a good story?
Feeling! There’s nothing that really constitutes a “good story” as it’s all subjective, but if you can read a story and feel what the characters feel, or even just see the emotions the writer is trying to portray then it’s definitely a good story. I’ve cried while reading most of, if not all my favourite stories.
What is your writing process like?
I plan first in a little notebook so I don’t forget any of my ideas or plans and then I try to churn it out whenever I have access to my computer, my speaker and a comfortable blanket. I like to “get in the zone” and then write as much as I possibly can. I usually think of ideas as I write so the notebook helps me put them in order and make sure I don’t get too ahead of myself.
Would you ever repurpose a fic into a completely original story?
I have thought about it and honestly, I’m not sure. My fics are not series’ and they’re all very short - most of them under 4k so I’d have to turn the idea into a full length thing you know? But I have thought about doing the opposite with a very old original story of mine I’ve otherwise given up on but still holds a special place in my heart.
What tropes do you love, and what tropes can’t you stand?
I am a sucker for the enemies to lovers trope mainly because the character development in these stories can be so much more interesting and complex. On the other hand I’m not fond of “yandere” type fics, however I have read several well written ones which I cannot speak against because they were actually really good.
How much would you say audience feedback/engagement means to you?
I’d say a lot, in terms of how much I write feedback means a lot to me - it’s also nice to hear what people think of things you’ve written because it’s a different view from your own and sometimes can boost confidence. I am also open to constructive criticism if any writers have any tips or suggestions for future works I’m always open to listen.
What has been one of the biggest factors of your success (of any size)?
When I see anyone interacting with my work it’s really rewarding and I love when people reblog with custom tags because it lets me know that people actually like what I do and to me, that’s a success.
Favorite color: Purple
Favorite food: Pasta
Favorite movie: Heathers (1988)
Favorite ice cream flavor: Cookie Dough
Favorite animal:  I would say bees, but I don’t think that counts so I’ll say dogs
Coffee or tea? What are you ordering?
Coffee, either black or a really fancy one with frothy milk
Dream job (whether you have a job or not)
I’d love to be a singer honestly, but at the moment I’m working towards education I hope one day to be a lecturer
Go-to karaoke song
Best Part by Daniel Caesar or Escape (the pina colada song) by Robert Holmes because it’s funny
If you could have one superpower, what would you choose?
Stopping time because there’s so much you can do - except the question is, would I continue to age even if time has stopped?
If you could visit a historical era, which would you choose?
My mind goes to two extremes, I think either ancient Greece because why not and the 1950’s purely for fashion and music.
If you could restart your life, knowing what you do now, would you?
No, but I think if I could restart specific moments I would. There are so many good moments but some things you don’t want to relive even if you can change the outcome.
Would you rather fight 100 chicken-sized horses or one horse-sized chicken?
100 chicken sized horses, I’d be terrified of a horse sized chicken it would probably be able to eat me and I’m not about that life, tiny horses I can deal with. Kill them with Kindness or whatever haha.
If you were a trope in a teen high school movie, what would you have been?
A mix of quiet teachers pet and loud side character friend. The duality kills me, I can be shouting with my friends one minute but whispering the minute the teacher asks me a question.
Do you believe in aliens/supernatural creatures?
I’d like to, I think some are really cool and it would be amazing to live among them, but also some are dangerous, but I would love to see or meet some creatures. Imagine living with dragons man that would be epic.
What are some of your favorite hobbies and how did you get into them?
I really like reading, courtesy of Harry Potter, but I also enjoy singing and playing the piano which I started doing more often in secondary school when my piano teacher suggested I started to sing as well :)
Fun fact about yourself that not everyone would know?
I did Karate for about 10/11 years, and I’m a black belt *insert awkward smile here*
Do you think fanfic writers get unfairly judged?
A lot of the time yes, there is a stigma around fanfiction and often paints us in a negative light but we just happen to be a community of creative fans who want to share and support the people we write about. But I can see where the stigma comes from, sometimes it can be taken a bit far and I am aware that some things make the artists themselves uncomfortable. I think if people who judge fanfiction are referring to it as a single idea it becomes unfair because it is all different, but I also think that writers of fanfiction themselves have to make sure they don’t cross any boundaries when writing that could make readers or the artist (if they ever happened to stumble across your work) uncomfortable.
Do you think art can be a medium for change?
Yes in some ways of course. Art is not only a way to express what the creator themselves is feeling but it is also a way to teach others about issues, prejudices and ideals. For literature specifically it allows you into the shoes of another person you may not have understood before, in art pieces there’s a clear message and encourages people to educate themselves on certain issues which in turn makes room for change.
Do you ever feel there are times when you’re writing for others, rather than yourself?
Sometimes if i’ve been suggested or requested to write something because it isn’t an idea that comes for me but mainly if I am aware that someone is waiting for a fic or someone has said they’re anticipating it I feel like I’m writing for others, but I don’t particularly mind it because it almost encourages me to write to a better standard.
Do you ever feel like people have misunderstood you or your writing at times?
Not particularly, I'm often as clear as I can be when portraying meaning, or I will straight up say it in a different thread or to different people because I can’t keep secrets and I’m a sucker for a spoiler. Although I am constantly worried about the way I come off in messages and things like that - I am a terrible overthinker.
Do your offline friends/loved ones know you write for Tumblr?
A few of my closest friends and other kpop stans I am friends with irl are aware of my blog and support me as much as they can with what little information I give them. I think only one of my irls has my url because she reads and I send her my binge reviews when I do them.
What is one thing you wish you could tell your followers?
Thank you so much, honestly it’s cheesy but without them I don’t know where my blog would be. The amount of them surprises me everyday and I don’t think I believe it half the time. Also if anyone ever needs help or support or just wants a chat I’m open, its 100% likely that if you interact with me or my posts on the regular then I will recognise you when you come say hi, I’m not that scary I promise.
Do you have any advice for aspiring writers who might be too scared to put themselves out there?
Just do it! It’s better to get your stuff out there and circulating to get a better idea of what people like and where your strong suit is, the more you put out the more you grow. But if you’re scared, talk to other creators, we’re always open to help and we can let you know what to do, it was something that helped me out :)
Are there any times when you regret joining Tumblr?
When I first started there was a lot of struggle with me trying to figure out my style and what I wanted to do, and it was a learning curve of what can I do, what should I avoid and who am I doing this for. Sometimes when I’m really down I will question why I do it, but I never regret it because it has allowed me to make some wonderful friends and be exposed to some amazing creations and get more into something I’ve always liked doing, writing.
Do you have any mutuals who have been particularly formative/supportive in your Tumblr journey?
I don’t want this to be too long, but I feel like it could be. I’ve met so many wonderful people and I love all of them so much, but in terms of being formative and supportive these are some of the people I talk to the most. @renjunwrites - I am a huge fan of Denise and to even be able to be in conversation with her about the stuff she writes is mindblowing to me, @nanasarea - nana was one of the first people I spoke to (before I joined discord) and was really accepting of my antics from day one. @glossyjaems - me and Louna have become very close recently and I can’t wait for our project to launch, keep an eye out for that. @mjlkau Anie is really one of the biggest supporters I have, always willing to read what I send her and give me support and love. There’s so many more people I’d love to mention but this would go on forever, to anyone ever involved in my writing process I’m thinking of you as I write this and I love you all (I feel really bad not talking about every single one omg).
Ending thoughts:
“We’ll be alright, I want to try again” - Try Again d.ear (ft. Jaehyun) because this is something I hold close, ‘try again, we’ll all be alright in the end’
BONUS: K-POP CONFIDENTIAL
