I feel like when you say you're a car nerd, people assume you're either into sportscars/racecars or, like... I don't know what to call the other category. Classic cars? I dunno. I just know that people go wild over cars that aren't currently made and I haven't ever really looked into the reasons why but I'm sure they make sense once you have the right background.
But anyway, there is also a third option? Because I just found out about the Kia Niro PHEV, and man is that a fascinating car. It's far from perfect, but it really seems to hit a sweet spot of market segments that none of the other manufacturers seem to offer (in the US).
Like, look. Say you don't have kids, you want a car, and you're financially well-off enough to follow the Sam Vimes boots principle. You probably want to have at least 4 seats in your car that are actually, legitimately comfortable for adults, yeah? Kind of limiting not to. But beyond that, unless you have specific needs there's no reason to have a larger, more expensive, or less fuel efficient (and thus more expensive, in the long run) car than that. If you can afford the upfront cost, you want to be able to do 80% of your driving trips on electricity because CO2 bad (so, PHEV or EV), but ideally the upfront cost isn't exorbitant. You want to be able to do long trips without borrowing a different car or something, so the range on long trips should be good (no super-short-range EVs, though these days they're all solid) and if you're doing them on gas you still want to be efficient. In a perfect world, your car drives/accelerates well even though it's fuel efficient, it isn't ugly as sin (though you'll likely have to deal with some "I'm an electric vehicle" styling, rip), and you're not handing money to Elon Musk.
The way I see it, we're either okay with a full electric vehicle and the limitations that come with that (I haven't looked into them lately, but presumably something like a Bolt or Ioniq), or we're not. And if we're not... then basically we just want a Prius Prime but normal-shaped, so you don't hit your head on the ceiling, and somehow without a higher price tag or a significant reduction in efficiency. Oh wait, that exists. Wild. I mean, I expected and would honestly have been fine with fuel economy in the mid-30s since you should be on electricity most of the time anyway, but okay, sure, I will take forty eight miles per gallon, yes please, Kia are you cheating on the EPA tests you have to tell me if you're cheating on the EPA tests.
So, yeah. But anyway I feel like when you say you're a car nerd you mean... not like this. So I'm never sure how to, you know, get that across.
(Aside: if you do have a big family and want to throw a lot of money at a super nice electrified 7-seater without actively throwing money away, the Pacifica PHEV and Mazda CX-90 PHEV seem like really interesting options in the absence of a hypothetical Toyota Sienna Prime/Toyota-Highlander-Prime-that's-not-a-Lexus. Another US market segment with a lot of missing options at the moment. Did you know the base model Sienna is a hybrid now, though? That's neat.)

Watch "mazda CX 60 (2023) vs CX-90 (2024) which hybrid suv to buy?" on YouTube
youtube
THE CX-60 is certainly worthy of the adjective “ambitious”. For Mazda, it signals several things at once: it’s the first to use the company’s all-new longitudinal architecture, the first to apply electrification to its full range of engines, the first to feature an inline-six powerplant and the first to offer a plug-in hybrid option. #mazdacx60 vs #mazdacx90 #googlesearch
And, with an ambitious price range that begins at $59,800 and tops out at $87,252, the CX-60 will also launch Mazda into the premium sphere.
Considering its silhouette is only fractionally larger than the CX-5 – it measures 165mm longer and 45mm wider, with an identical 1680mm overall height – the CX-60 is pitched as a premium alternative to Mazda’s ultra-popular mid-sized SUV rather than its replacement.

Mazda's CX-70: Luxury Downsized or Just a CX-90 in Disguise?_NEWS from Test Miles on Vimeo.
Mazda has decided to make a bold move with its latest offering, the 2025 Mazda CX-70, shrinking the larger CX-90's ambitious design into what may just be the right size for those not needing a caravan-sized vehicle. Priced between $40,445 and $55,950, this mid-size luxury SUV straddles the fine line between the more compact CX-50 and its bigger brother, the CX-90, seemingly tailored for those who've bid farewell to the bustling household era and now revel in the quiet after the storm.
At the heart of the CX-70's charm is a choice of two engines. The traditionalists can opt for the robust 3.3-liter six-cylinder, or, for the eco-minded, a plug-in hybrid that promises efficiency with a 2.5-liter engine paired with an electric motor, whipping up 323 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. The latter not only caters to the green-hearted but does so with gusto, boasting up to 56 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) and covering 26 miles purely on electric zeal—a perfect companion for city sprints and countryside jaunts alike.
As we delve deeper, the CX-70, which begins at a premium entry price of $54,400 for the PHEV Premium trim, doesn’t shy away from showing off its sophisticated attire. Available in eye-catching hues like Soul Red Crystal and Zircon Sand Metallic, it stands proudly on available 21-inch wheels, framed by a striking wide front fascia and black contrasting accents. It's quite the looker but doesn't just play to the gallery. Inside, the cabin mirrors the upscale ambiance of the CX-90, adorned with options such as black upholstery festooned with gold stitching or sumptuous red Nappa leather, all underpinned by Mazda’s commitment to ergonomic and aesthetic finesse.
But it's not just about looks or lounging in luxury. The CX-70 is as practical as it is plush. Absent a third row, it offers a spacious cargo area, complete with remote-folding rear seats and hooks for bags—ideal for those who travel with more than just a briefcase. The technological suite is nothing to scoff at either. A 12.3-inch central infotainment display ensures connectivity and control are at your fingertips, featuring wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an array of driver-assistance systems including radar cruise control and a novel unresponsive driver support system.
Competing head-on with the likes of the Honda Passport and Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid, Mazda’s trimmed-down transporter raises a compelling argument: does bigger necessarily mean better? In the arena of mid-sized SUVs, where every inch and option is scrutinized, the CX-70 presents a contrarian viewpoint that less might indeed be more, particularly for the discerning empty nester or the environmentally conscious driver.
Despite some naysayers describing the CX-70 as a possibly lukewarm makeover of the CX-90, the optimism surrounding its driving dynamics and high-quality interior suggests that Mazda may just have trimmed the fat rather than the muscle. So, while it might not be reinventing the wheel, with the CX-70, Mazda reinforces that sometimes, a little less is exactly enough.

2021 Nissan Rogue review: Playing it down the middle

2021 Nissan Rogue review: Playing it down the middle
The Rogue is currently Nissan’s best-selling vehicle by a long shot, and consumer demand for compact crossovers shows no sign of slowing down. Needless to say, the “don’t screw it up” factor is pretty high with the redesigned 2021 Rogue, which rolls into dealerships later this year.
Like
Quiet, comfortable cabin
Decent fuel economy
Available digital gauge cluster
Enhanced ProPilot driver-assistance tech
Don’t Like
Weak engine performance
Styling isn’t for everyone
Best tech features are only available on the most expensive trim
Smartly, Nissan opted to take a conservative approach to the Rogue’s redux, though you might not think so upon first glance. The boldly styled front end certainly isn’t for everyone — I’m not a fan, personally — but it’s at least expressive, which isn’t something I could say about prior Rogues. The rest of the crossover’s appearance is unsurprisingly conventional, although new two-tone color options are available to give that upright, two-box shape added visual interest. All told, the 2021 Rogue is about an inch shorter in both length and height than its predecessor.
Inside, 2021 Rogue loses half an inch of headroom and 1.5 inches of legroom up front. Rear-seat occupants, on the other hand, enjoy slightly more headroom and legroom than before — 0.7 and 0.6 inches, respectively. A third row of seats isn’t available, and while that might seem like a given considering the Rogue’s small size, keep in mind that Nissan offered a holy-crap-that’s-cramped option from 2014 to 2017. Trust me, the Rogue is better off without it.
The SUV’s back doors now open to a full 90-degree aperture, which makes getting in and out easier and gives you more space when finagling car seats or other bulky items. A similar bit of helpfulness is found in the cargo area, where there’s an adjustable divider in the two-tier load floor. Only available on SL and Platinum grades, this two-piece partition gives you a maximum of 36.5 cubic feet of storage space behind the second-row seats, while the Rogue S and SV make do with 31.6. Regardless of model, folding the back seats flat results in 74.1 cubic feet of room, which puts the Rogue ahead of the Toyota RAV4 (69.8) but behind the Honda CR-V (75.8).
Generally speaking, the Rogue’s interior is perfectly nice. Nissan’s comfy and supportive Zero Gravity seats are standard for both front and rear passengers, came wrapped in leather on my SL tester and is available with quilted, semi-aniline hides on the bougie Platinum. All of the plastics and wood appliqués are nicely grained and none of the vehicle controls feel cheap or flimsy. Well, mostly.
The new electronic gear selector is a particularly lousy part of an otherwise well-built cabin. It looks cheap and feels cheaper. On the other hand, no mechanical linkage to the transmission frees up space beneath the console for added storage, but considering how cavernous the compartment aft of the cup holders is, I don’t imagine needing that extra space all that often.
Most Rogues will roll out with an 8-inch color touchscreen display in the center of the dash, running the newest version of the NissanConnect infotainment system. A larger 9-inch high-definition screen is optional on the SL and standard on the Platinum, with the same NissanConnect software inside. This system isn’t my favorite, with its occasionally laggy response times, but the graphics are nevertheless colorful and crisp — on the HD display, at least — and it’s a step up from the Display Audio and Entune systems offered in the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4, respectively.
If you want the mega-tech experience, go for a Rogue Platinum, which comes with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.8-inch head-up display, as well as a wireless charging pad. It kind of sucks that you have to spring for the most expensive Rogue — $36,525, including $1,095 for destination — to get these niceties, but so it goes. At least Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard across the board. What’s more, wireless CarPlay is optional on the SL and standard on the Platinum, and every Rogue save for the most basic S has an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot as well as four USB outlets (two A, two C).
The Rogue’s interior is clean and modern.
Steven Ewing/Roadshow
A whole bunch of driver-assistance technologies come standard on every Rogue, including blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a driver alertness monitor, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning and automatic emergency braking. Nissan’s excellent ProPilot Assist joins the standard roster on SV trims and higher, combining adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist for easy-breezy highway commuting. A newly enhanced version of this tech, ProPilot Assist with Navi-Link, is optional on the SL and standard on the Platinum. It uses navigation data to adjust the Rogue’s speed for things like tight highway curves and busy intersections, and it can even keep the steering assist active on freeway exit ramps. The uplevel ProPilot software also includes speed-limit adaptation, which is something normally reserved for higher-end luxury cars.
Unfortunately, the rest of the Rogue’s driving experience isn’t so techy; you won’t find turbochargers or electric assistance under the hood. Buyers looking for more punch should check out a Mazda CX-5 with the 2.5-liter turbo, and if you’re all about fuel-sippin’, the Ford Escape, Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4 can be had with hybrid powertrains. The Escape and RAV4 even offer plugin options.
The Rogue, meanwhile, uses a reworked version of Nissan’s long-standing 2.5-liter I4, making 181 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque, increases of 11 hp and 6 lb-ft over the 2020 model. A continuously variable transmission is mandatory across the board, and buyers can choose between front- and all-wheel drive on every trim level.
The more upright shape results in increased rear-seat headroom.
Steven Ewing/Roadshow
Nissan’s CVT is one of the better transmissions of this type, largely fading into the background without roughness or loud droning during acceleration. But the Rogue definitely isn’t quick, and it occasionally suffers on steep grades. Climbing California’s notorious Grapevine on the I-5 freeway at 75 mph requires a heavy right foot, especially since the 2.5 has a dearth of low-end torque. The experience would be worse with passengers and/or more cargo onboard, too. This is where the low-end torque from a turbocharger or added electrification can really help, but competitors generally also make you pay extra for their more-powerful engines. Nissan offered a Rogue Hybrid previously, so perhaps a more powerful engine option will come along in the future.
Fuel economy ratings of 27 miles per gallon city, 35 mpg highway and 30 mpg combined are on the better side of average for the compact crossover class. Opting for all-wheel drive reduces those figures by one to two mpg depending on trim level, but again, that’s not uncommon for small SUVs. After several days of testing in mixed conditions, my Rogue’s onboard computer shows 28.5 mpg.
The engine itself may be pretty mediocre, but overall, the Rogue drives with confidence and composure. The redesigned rack-mounted electronic power steering is a lot better than in old Rogues, with improved weight and more natural turn-in that doesn’t feel overboosted. Even so, as far as steering feel is concerned, the Rogue, like most other small SUVs, is as dead as your childhood dreams.
Of all the compact crossovers on sale today, the Nissan Rogue is definitely one of them.
Steven Ewing/Roadshow
A new, stiffer frame gives the Rogue a solid on-road demeanor, and the suspension is nicely tuned to soak up the sort of rough pavement and occasional pothole you’ll experience in everyday driving. The base Rogue S rides on 17-inch wheels, but 18s and 19s, like the ones on my tester, are available. Brake feel is solid and easy to modulate, and if you hustle the Rogue through a corner you’ll find predictable amounts of body roll. But for the key missions of a Nissan Rogue — running errands, commuting to work, taking the kids to the lake — this vehicle is appropriately tuned.
Pricing for the 2021 Nissan Rogue starts at $26,745 including destination and all-wheel drive is a $1,400 upcharge on every trim. Like every other aspect of the Rogue, this puts Nissan’s CUV squarely in the middle of the compact crossover class.
It’s hard to fault Nissan for playing it straight with the 2021 Rogue. The current model is doing really well for the automaker, and it’s the segment’s third best-selling model behind the Toyota and Honda. Frankly, considering Nissan’s big-picture troubles, it’s probably not a good idea to shake up a winning formula. Is the Rogue the most attractive, most fun-to-drive small SUV? No. But it’s comfortable, spacious, economical and priced right, and those are pretty strong laurels on which to rest.

2020 Volkswagen T-Roc Dimensions, Compact, Review And Price

2020 Volkswagen T-Roc Dimensions, Compact, Review And Price
2020 Volkswagen T-Roc Dimensions – Recall back in 2014 while Volkswagen put the T-Roc Strategy displayed at the Geneva auto show? Properly, you will be insane if you did not mainly because it was one of several handfuls of VW principles that people can appreciate. It also showcased an easily removed roof that could use it in the commercial of competing with models just like the actual Nissan Murano Cabriolet and the particular Range Rover Evoque Cabrio. Now, we are considering spy photographs of your production design, and while it can do look like VW offers been able to protect a decent quantity of the particular concept’s design (a minimum of more than most manufacturers might have, in any case), it does not appear like it’s likely to have that detachable roofing panel. Which happens to be, be enough it to say, a shame. We never know a lot different about the T-Roc at the moment, but it really must have very similar proportions towards the concept and is going to be supplied using a range of drivetrains including a 3-tube great for approximately 100 hp, plus some four-tube solutions that could deliver as much as much as 250 hp if your GTI version, which can be achievable, graces the marketplace.
Exterior
Onto what is fresh, first of all, captured my eye is that it looks as in case the easily-removed rooftop isn’t intending to make it to creation. It is tough to say exactly why, however, the design during these spy pictures lacks that break in the actual roofline that created the actual T-Roc principle so interesting. This model even offers many entrance doors when compared to principle, which just got two. In the beginning, you’ll find that the weighty physique range about the hood does bring over. Nevertheless, it has been straightened out a little, provide the hood the appearance of sitting down a bit increased about the production design. The front lights on this generation model are quite related. However, they’re a little bigger than before and extend furthermore to the fencers. They likewise have just what seems to be a Directed ring throughout the ends. However, this could also be chrome clip.
The particular grill is additionally admirably diverse, meaning that it has been well toned straight down. However, it is not as poor as one would expect. As opposed to the chrome toned stretching below the front lights, the clip will come to a point and goes along the inner side of the lighting, boxing the particular grille in. One particular louver in between gets the stainless remedy also using what looks to be fine hexagonal mesh above and below it.
Straight down under, the environment dam offers the same standard shape as that noticed in principle but is currently a little bit taller. It too receives that honeycomb mesh. Just under it is situated a little skid platter which is a nicely toned-straight down model of that from the principle. Lastly, another main change here is the fog lamps or running lamps on each spot in the fascia. Where the principle experienced huge, Subaru-searching devices, the development design will have slender units with four small LEDs.

Interior
We do not know just what the inside of this mule, in fact, appears to be, although, with every fortune, it attracts at the very least a few motivation in the T-Roc strategy. Within the concept, which you see earlier mentioned, the dash, as well as door, cut individual panels have been, properly, geometrically seem. The sprint featured bold facial lines as did the controls spokes and fundamental interior style. I think the production edition is going to be well toned downward but ought to get yourself a relatively similar design with a lot more round corners. I might speculate how the range-topping model would obtain the 12.3-” electronic musical instrument cluster and enormous infotainment show. With every good luck, the particular infotainment exhibit may preserve its tablet-style at the same time. I hesitation the production item can have computerized HVAC manages, but it’s very achievable these will hold around. The doorway clip panels should be more curved, even though the freight area from the back must decrease a little bit because of the second row of car seats.
Drivetrain
When VW launched the actual T-Roc Idea, it was sporting a 2.-liter, diesel-ingesting TDI (shocker, right?) which shipped 177 Hp and 280 lb-ft . of torque. Small is known about efficiency from the strategy, but it had been mentioned to employ a seven-speed, two-clutch system transmission. It was said to achieve emission output of 129 grams of CO2 for each km and can strike a high speed of 130 mph. The development design, however, will more than likely visit a range of drivetrain that ranges from a 1.-liter about three-tube with 115 hp, up to a 1.5-liter with 150 Hp. A 2.-liter, turbocharged, gas drivetrain also need to be readily available and can supply between 180 horsepower along with upward of 300 if VW chooses to choose a T-Roc GTI sometime in the foreseeable future. Ultimately, diesel engines will most likely be readily available simply because VW continue to believes diesel may be the future (despite the Dieselgate scandal) along with an all-electronic or crossbreed model isn’t unthinkable, possibly.
Transmitting options will virtually unquestionably incorporate a fifty percent a dozen-rate handbook in a few models or possibly a seven-velocity two-clutch in other individuals. There’s no expression as to how the driveline will likely be installed. Nevertheless, you can guess it will probably be primarily top-tier generate with the all-time push coming coupled being an option afterward. On the other hand, VW could keep off of on all-wheel travel until it comes out with a hybrid product, whereby the rear axles will be motivated specifically by an electric power motor rather than engine’s torque becoming handed out in between all tires when needed.
Prices
The 2020 Volkswagen T-Roc is going to be VW’s littlest SUV supplying and definitely will slot into the collection below the Tiguan. In line with the current industry, in which types like the Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3, Nissan Juke, Jeep Renegade, Along with Chevrolet Trax all begin among $19,000 and also $21,000, it is entirely possible that the actual T-Roc is going to possess a comparable starting price at the same time. But, VW’s Tiguan presently begins at $24,995, and that brand name is popular for believing that it is more superior compared to it is really, so a commencing price with $22,000 to $23,000 isn’t precisely unthinkable sometimes.

Toyota RAV4 2019 strongly hybrid
Toyota RAV4 2019 strongly hybrid
Toyota RAV4 2019 strongly hybrid
This fall, I was able to briefly review the new Toyota RAV4 2019 at driving events organized by the North American Car of the Year Jury. It was then a prototype, on which the finish seemed to me all the same without great defect. Obviously, it was difficult for me to form an opinion on the vehicle by driving it for only 20 minutes, especially since the changes made were radical compared to the old version. Because, you will admit, the new Toyota RAV4 2019 changes completely approach. To please Marina When I saw the new Toyota RAV4 2019, I immediately thought of Marina Orsini, who had once mentioned disgusting modern, rounded SUVs. For her, the "truck look" is important, which is why she owned SUVs with angular lines like the Jeep Cherokee, the 2008 Ford Escape and the Land Rover LR2. It is clear that with the new aesthetic approach, the RAV4 could become the next vehicle of our Quebec star.
Toyota RAV4 2019 strongly hybrid
Obviously, Toyota did not produce the RAV4 for Marina, but rather for all the drivers who, like her, have had some of these difficult-to-distinguish SUVs. Ford Escape , Honda CR-V , Hyundai Tucson , Mazda CX-5 and Nissan Rogue , all SUVs that have very similar lines and severely lack originality despite their beauty. So far, the RAV4 was on this list. However, its new nonconformist aspect may attract the attention of many people who want a little change. Not to mention that Toyota is going for a number of aesthetic strategies with this model, offering traditional-style versions, sport-wrapped hybrids and a seriously adventurous Trail version. Do not displease With more than 55,000 sales nationwide last year, the RAV4 is not only at the top of its class, but also at the top of the builder's sales, with Corolla now a good second. You will have understood that to play boldly with the lines of the vehicle is a rather risky bet. That's why we took care to arrange the cabin so as not to destabilize anyone, but by providing an environment that is spacious, versatile and impeccably ergonomic. Generous cargo space, flat-folding rear seats and a finely-tuned instrument panel are now part of this new new Toyota RAV4.
Toyota RAV4 2019 strongly hybrid
The long list of safety features - including Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert - is of course impressive, but Toyota has responded to comments from those who have criticized the inefficiency of the Entune multimedia system. by adding new features. Clearly, think of a more user-friendly, more intuitive system, and the addition of connectivity with Apple CarPlay. The front heated seats come standard, but we must move to the XLE version so that the steering wheel is entitled to the same treatment. No turbo? We know, fashion is turbo engines . Toyota does not adhere to it. Rather, he chose to maintain a traditional approach by offering a 2.5-liter four-cylinder producing 203 horsepower, which is married to the eight-speed automatic. As an option, a new-generation all-wheel drive is added to the mechanical assembly, which carries up to 50% of the torque at the rear, then redistributes it laterally as needed.
Toyota RAV4 2019 strongly hybrid
By maintaining an atmospheric engine, Toyota eliminates the risk of breakage often associated with turbo engines, and the possibility of a lack of heating in the vehicle. A problem currently experienced by the owners of Honda CR-V and Hyundai Tucson 1.6 liter turbo ... A big disappointment This new Toyota RAV4 benefits from a new structure that is said 57% more rigid than the old one. Suspension geometry has also been revised to improve stability and handling, which can also help reduce sensitivity to side winds. The power is far from nasty and it is well managed by the automatic transmission. However, you will be bitterly disappointed by the very high sound level of the vehicle accelerating. A really annoying point to work on. For the rest, the handling of the new Toyota RAV4 is impeccable. Not as fun to drive as a Mazda CX-5 or as dynamic as a Subaru Forester. Except that the balance of the vehicle and the marked improvement in suspension, braking and steering contribute to an almost exemplary behavior. Obviously, the noise level will be greatly reduced with the adoption of the hybrid version which, for me, remains the most beautiful formula. On the one hand, because the electric motor reduces the effort required during acceleration and therefore reduce the noise level, but also because the torque of the electric motor simply makes driving more enjoyable. Add to that a power gain (combined maximum power of 219 horsepower), an all-wheel drive even more powerful and without drive shaft, and you have there a technologically more advanced vehicle, dynamically more interesting, and which also makes you save about 25% fuel compared to the regular version. All for a higher bill of just $ 1,400.
Toyota RAV4 hybrid? Regarding fuel consumption, it should average about 8 liters per 100 km with the regular version, and about 6 liters with the hybrid. Super gas is not required, and with such a rating, the new Toyota RAV4 hybrid surpasses even a Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV if it runs more than 90 km per day without refill. Disadvantages to the new Toyota RAV4 hybrid? The hybrid is now available in three versions, LE, XLE and Limited. Alas, no Trail version. Nevertheless, it is possible to opt for a sport dressing with a two-tone paint, black painted rims, a firmer suspension and sports tubs. So there's no real disadvantage to choosing the hybrid version that does not limit you in terms of cargo volume, and that even increases the towing capacity to 1,750 lbs (against 1,500 for the ordinary version - except for the Trail version can tow 3,500 lbs).
Toyota RAV4 2019 strongly hybrid
In short, unless you want to opt for the Trail version, which, I agree, displays a good face while offering better capabilities, the hybrid is, in my opinion, a must. A vehicle that outperforms rivals in performance, fuel economy and versatility, and most likely will be more reliable than average. It also means excellent resale value, something you should not overlook. In other words, it's probably the best compact SUV you can get in 2019. This Toyota RAV4 2019 price is available from $25,500 -SEE ALSO:

The Best Cars for 2020 | Trucks, SUVs, Sedans, and More
This article was last updated on March 31, 2020 by Kristen Hall-Geisler, an employee of Digital Trends.
Digital Trends is about testing new cars and playing them off against each other to find the best in each category. We take on this terrible task for you, our readers. The crème de la crème for every segment rises from the battle of mediocre limousines and monster trucks. We routinely group the best of each category – limousines, SUVs, or hybrids – but it was high time to put all of our favorites of the year in one convenient place so you can see the best of the best in one glance. Here you can easily find the Digital Trends selection for the best cars overall.

The best vehicle of 2020: Jaguar I-Pace
Why should you buy this? It combines state-of-the-art design and technology in a very mobile electric vehicle.
Who is it for? Luxury SUV buyers who want the very best in technology and design from a brand they know.
How much will it cost? $ 69,500
Why we chose the Jaguar I-Pace:
The most exciting vehicle on the market is not a million-dollar supercar, a broad-shouldered truck, or a seven-passenger SUV. No, the car the world can't wait for is a fully electric crossover from British automaker Jaguar.
Contemporary electric vehicles have several performance advantages over their gas-powered brothers, and Jaguar turns each of these weapons into weapons. It starts with the platform that stretches the I-Pace's 90 kWh battery across the floor. This gives the vehicle an extremely low center of gravity and distributes the weight evenly front and rear (50:50). Without the load from the engine and transmission, Jaguar was able to push the wheels to the absolute ends of the body, thus improving cornering stability.
The I-Pace offers no better range than a Tesla Model X or the loading capacity of the Mazda CX-5, but is characterized by general dynamics, packaging and driving experience. The car simply disappears from thought when you commute, but is still the focus when you are driving through tight bends. It is only disappointed by its infotainment system, a small price to pay for this level of ride quality.

The best small car: Mazda3
Why should you buy this: It is an economical car with a soul.
Who is it for: People who want more than just simple means of transport.
How much will it cost: $ 21,500 +
Why we chose the Mazda3:
The Mazda3 is the type of car that other automakers should build. It's a normal compact economy car that emphasizes style and driving dynamics in a way that most competitors don't. Many normal cars feel like devices, but not this one.
The Mazda 3 is available as a four-door sedan or five-door hatchback and is not particularly fast, but very nice to drive. The steering and chassis react with an immediacy that other cars in this class lack, as does Mazda's Skyactiv four-cylinder engine. All models and trim levels feature a 2.5-liter engine that transmits 186 hp and 186 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels via six-speed manual or automatic transmission. Four-wheel drive is also available.
Mazda's Kodo design language results in a car that looks good and is distinctive without resorting to excessive styling gimmicks. The current Mazda interior is a bit understated, but the cabin of the 3 is reasonably designed, and Mazda's infotainment controller with rotary knob is easy to use.
Like many popular cars these days, the 3 is also available with a range of electronic driver aids, including adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking and traffic sign recognition.

The best truck: Ford F-150
Why should you buy this: It does everything well.
Who is it for: Almost everyone who needs a full-size pickup.
How much will it cost: $ 28,745 +
Why we chose the Ford F-150:
Because it has the basics.
The Ford F-150 has been the best-selling vehicle in the U.S. for decades, and it's easy to see why legions of truck buyers flock there every year. The F-150 does not dominate a particular category, but covers all bases with solid performance, impressive sophistication and stylish and well thought-out design features.
Under the hood, the available 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 with two turbochargers (available with 375 HP and 450 HP) offers a lot of torque and a very fast throttle response. This makes it a good choice whether you want to pull a boat or just want to pull in a hurry away from lights. Ford also offers a more traditional 5.0-liter V8, a turbo diesel engine, and two more petrol V6 options. The truck itself has an aluminum body that, according to Ford, saves over 700 pounds compared to a conventional steel body. While the F-150 has a relatively simple suspension, the ride is impressively calm and comfortable. The styling is also a nice departure from the boxiness of traditional trucks.
Ford has also taken the lead in adding technical features to trucks. The F-150 is available with the same Sync 3 infotainment system that is available in most Ford car models. It's a solid system with a fairly simple menu and an appealing touchscreen display. The layout of the dashboard makes it easier to use both the screen and the analog controls. Other notable technical toys include a surround view camera system and the Pro Trailer Backup Assist, with which the truck can take over the steering when securing a trailer. Even if you don't choose these features, the ride quality, performance, and design of the F-150 should prove satisfactory.

The best luxury car: Mercedes-Benz S-Class
Why should you buy this: It's the luxury sedan that says, "I did it."
Who is it for: Managers, entrepreneurs, rappers.
How much will it cost: $ 94,250 +
Why we chose the Mercedes-Benz S-Class:
The S-Class has been the flagship of the Mercedes-Benz series for decades. "It has long been the benchmark by which luxury cars are measured," we wrote when we drove the latest version of it. It's far in the sixth generation, but has recently been updated with small visual improvements, new engines that use less gasoline, and much more technical features under the skin.
Mercedes lived up to its motto “The best or nothing” and ensured that the S was comfortable, regardless of whether the owner was driving or driving. The sedan pampers its occupants with a spacious, well-lit cabin that is as quiet as a bank vault, and offers some of the most comfortable seats you'll ever sit on.
There is an S-Class for every luxury buyer. The range includes an entry-level model with a six-cylinder under the bonnet, a V8 model, an immensely powerful variant from Mercedes-AMG and a pair of ultra-luxurious Maybach models. In addition to the sedan, Mercedes also offers coupé and convertible models from the S-Class.

The best car: Subaru Outback
Why should you buy this: It is the all-rounder.
Who is it for: Drivers are looking for a car that can do everything.
How much will it cost: $ 26,645 +
Why we chose the Subaru Outback:
Most car manufacturers deleted their station wagons in the 1990s and filled the gaps with SUVs. Subaru stuck to the course because he found that he could continue to sell cars profitably by placing them on stilts and making them look a bit more robust. Decades of experience make the outback the best new station wagon in the USA.
The outback tries to be everything for everyone, and for the most part it succeeds. It's relatively affordable, relatively efficient, and extremely powerful thanks to Subaru's symmetrical all-wheel drive system. It was redesigned for the 2020 model year and the updates include an available 11.6-inch touchscreen with Subaru's StarLink infotainment system. Users can rearrange the icons in the start menu like on a smartphone, and an available WiFi hotspot keeps every passenger connected on the go.
Outback technology can also help you disconnect. The infotainment system comes preinstalled with an app called Chimani that contains information about more than 400 national parks in the United States, including the history and highlights of each location. Access to one of the parks shouldn't be a problem thanks to the 8.7-inch ground clearance. The loading capacity checks in at 32.5 with four occupants on board and at 75.7 with the rear seats folded down.
The entry-level engine is a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque. That's not much for a vehicle of this size, so buyers can buy a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder with more generous 260 hp and 277 lb.-ft. of the torque. Both four-cylinder shift via a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

The best hybrid: Toyota Prius
Why should you buy this: The Prius continues to define the hybrid category in almost every way.
Who is it for: Who hates visiting the gas station.
How much will it cost: $ 24,325 +
Why we chose the Toyota Prius:
The name "Prius" is synonymous with "hybrid" for a reason. Toyota's best-selling hybrid continues to take precedence over fuel consumption, and while efficiency is the primary goal, the Prius doesn't ask buyers to compromise more – except perhaps in the styling department.
The Prius is the most economical hybrid on the market and has an environmental protection rating of 56 mpg in eco equipment. This is thanks to Toyota's proven hybrid synergy drive system and a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that achieves a thermal efficiency of 40 percent, which is much higher than most engines. The Prius also achieves a very low drag coefficient of 0.24, which means that it has a relatively low drag, which helps improve efficiency. The Toyota designers did this while maintaining a spacious cabin and a useful hatchback shape.
Thanks to changes such as a lower center of gravity and a more sophisticated double wishbone independent suspension system, the Prius of the current generation is also significantly sportier than the previous models. Like other Toyota models, the Prius comes standard with the Toyota Safety Sense Suite with driver assistance functions (including adaptive cruise control and a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection).
The Prius is still a champion in fuel economy, but the current version's focus on sporty handling and technology makes it a better all-round car than ever.

The best SUV: Jeep Wrangler
Miles Branman / Digital Trends
Why should you buy this? It is the original off-roader for on the go.
Who is it for? Those who want to explore nature.
How much will it cost? $ 28,295 +
Why we chose the Jeep Wrangler:
The Jeep Wrangler dates back to the original Willys, which was developed in World War II. It has evolved considerably in recent years and generations. The revamped 2018 model finally swallowed the tech pill that its predecessors didn't want to approach, but its mind is still the same. That said, it's simple, relatively affordable, and practically unbeatable off-road.
The Wrangler range includes the standard two-door model and a more spacious four-door version. All variants leave the factory with either a convertible top or a convertible top (a power-operated convertible top is available for an additional charge), making the Wrangler one of the cheapest convertibles on the market. As a bonus, buyers who want to do serious offroading can customize the Wrangler by buying parts directly from the Jeep or from an apparently endless list of aftermarket suppliers.
While the entry-level sport remains relatively simple, the more sophisticated equipment options are much nicer on the inside and even comfortable in the city. If you are an adventurous type, the Wrangler is the best choice in the SUV segment.

The best hatchback: Volkswagen Golf
Why should you buy this: The Golf meets all requirements in the mainstream hatchback segment.
Who is it for: Who only needs a car.
How much will it cost: $ 23,195 +
Why we chose the Volkswagen Golf:
It is no coincidence that the Volkswagen Golf has been the best-selling car in Germany for decades. The seventh generation of Volkswagen's most popular nameplate offers one of the best interiors in its class, plenty of space in the trunk and agile handling at an attractive price.
The Golf also speaks technology. All but the lowest panels are equipped with a state-of-the-art infotainment system that is displayed on a color touchscreen. The list of options includes driving aids such as a lane departure warning system, a forward collision warning and adaptive cruise control. You can even purchase a digital instrument cluster that is usually found on much more expensive cars.
Volkswagen offers various variants of the Golf. Shoppers in select states can purchase an all-electric model called the E-Golf that can travel up to 125 miles on a single charge. At the other end of the spectrum, the legendary GTI is one of the best hot hatches you can buy for money. And the Golf R with a 300-PS turbo all-wheel drive and all-wheel drive pulls the hearts of speed lovers.

The best sports car: Audi R8 V10 Performance
Miles Branman / Digital Trends
Why should you buy that?: It's the everyday super sports car.
Who is it for?: If you want high performance without sacrificing comfort.
How much will it cost: $ 195,900
Why we chose the Audi R8 V10 Performance:
The Audi R8 is an anomaly. Audi has built a car that is as sophisticated as a luxury two-door car with the power of a hyper car.
The deep-seated coupe differs from smaller sports cars in sharp folds, carbon fiber accents, and a mid-engine layout, but it doesn't get the same attention as the competition. Its 5.2-liter V10 delivers 602 hp and 413 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels through a seven-speed dual clutch transmission. The acceleration is blistering: 0 to 60 mph takes less than 3.2 seconds and the top speed is 205 mph.
In the cabin, the occupants are pampered with a great engine scream and first-class comfort features. The 12.3-inch virtual cockpit display from Audi gives the driver access to all vehicle functions and reduces clutter. Audi Drive Select adjusts the suspension damping to change the driving quality from gentle to aggressive in no time at all. It's not just quick and sharp. It is also high-tech.
At less than $ 200,000, the Audi R8 V10 Performance invites the McLaren 570S, the 911 Turbo S from Porsche, the NSX from Acura, the V12 Vantage S from Aston Martin and the GT R from Mercedes-AMG to take on challenges. Every vehicle is amazingly fast, attractive, and desirable, but the R8 is the only super sports car that's as exciting on a track as it is in a neighborhood.

The best sedan: Honda Accord
Miles Branman / Digital Trends
Why should you buy this: It is the epitome of a medium-sized sedan.
Who is it for: Who needs a car.
How much will it cost: $ 23,870
Why we chose the Honda Accord:
Together with its rival, the Toyota Camry, the Honda Accord has long been the standard choice for a wide range of US car buyers. The Accord name is so associated with quality and reliability that Honda could probably sell it even if the seats were covered with spikes. But the latest deal definitely deserves its reputation.
The latest redesign gave the deal, which is known to be incredibly competent and somewhat boring, some momentum. The current model borrows style elements from the smaller Honda Civic, giving it a more stylish appearance that doesn't offend buyers who just want to blend in with traffic. Honda also increased rear legroom and trunk.
The drivers will also find a lot to like. The Accord is one of the few mid-range sedans that are still available with a manual transmission. You can combine this six-speed stick with the 2.0-liter turbo engine of the Civic Type R (basic models get a 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder). You don't get that much power (just 192hp compared to 306hp in the R type), but the Accord can definitely get out of the way and turn corners with serenity.
The agreement also represents good technical value. Each Accord equipment variant includes the Honda Sensing safety functions (forward collision mitigation, downhill driving reduction, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning system and traffic sign recognition) as well as a reversing camera. A 7-inch touchscreen display is standard. An 8.0-inch device with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility is optionally available.

The best electric sedan: Tesla Model 3
Tesla Motors
Why should you buy this? It is the first EV to deliver the promise of high range and low (ish) price.
Who is it for? Tesla fans on a budget and drivers willing to take the all-electric leap.
How much will it cost? $ 39,900 +
Why we chose the Tesla Model 3:
The most exciting vehicle on the market is not a million-dollar supercar, a broad-shouldered truck, or a seven-passenger SUV. No, the car the world can't wait for is a fully electric sedan from a startup automaker called Tesla.
The Tesla Model 3 is modest on the outside, luxurious on the inside, surprisingly fun to drive and available with a range of up to 310 miles. It checks all the right boxes. But this is just the beginning. What really impresses the Model 3 is its innovative comfort and safety features (including some of the best semi-autonomous driving aids in the industry) and its future-proof technology. Thanks to the wireless updates from Tesla, the Model 3 is constantly being improved and can be reconfigured according to your needs and wishes – even after you have bought the car.
Tesla may have the growing pain that most established automakers have long overcome, and the Model 3 wasn't immune to quality-related issues, but the tech startup has a lot to teach the automotive industry how to build a compelling product. Although it may take a while for your Model 3 order to be fulfilled, we can assure you that it is worth the wait.

The best coupe: Ford Mustang
Alex Kalogianni / Digital Trends
Why should you buy this: It is an American legend that lives up to the hype.
Who is it for: Anyone who has seen Bullitt.
How much will it cost: $ 26,670 +
Why we chose the Ford Mustang:
The Ford Mustang is an icon, but that doesn't mean that every version was a good car. However, this is the case with this. The Mustang of the current generation was introduced for the 2015 model year and significantly updated for the 2018 model year. It has the spirit of the original from the 1960s, but also the makings of an outstanding performance coupe in the 21st century.
Mustangs have always been good at driving fast in a straight line, but Ford added cornering to the current-generation resume by adding independent rear suspension (with adaptive dampers as part of the optional performance pack) and the hardcore, track-oriented Shelby GT350 developed GT350R and GT500 variants. In terms of technology, Ford's Sync 3 infotainment system is a significant improvement over the automaker's previous efforts, and a 12-inch digital instrument cluster is on the options list. There's also a Bullitt edition inspired by the 1968 Mustang GT from the legendary Steve McQueen film with a 5.0-liter V8 engine.
A real Mustang needs V8 muscles and Ford doesn't disappoint. The Mustang GT has 460 horsepower, the Bullitt 480 horsepower and the Shelby GT500 surpasses them all with 760 horsepower. At the other end of the spectrum, Ford offers a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine with turbocharger, which together delivers a 25 MPG model suitable for a muscle car and still delivers 310 hp.

2019 Kia Telluride
New Post has been published on https://motortrendi.com/2019-kia-telluride/
2019 Kia Telluride
While it’s still just an idea, rumors say the wildly elegant Kia Telluride Principle, which debuted at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show, has been okayed for production.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
The 2019 Kia Telluride assures to be a cutting-edge, full-size SUV that pushes technological borders without jeopardizing luxury. Telluride is a three-row, seven-seat hybrid vehicle with a muscular, upright position and unique rear-hinged back doors that open in tandem with the front doors to a 90-degree angle for ease of entry. The very first 2 rows are fitted with 4 black-leather captain’s chairs, behind which sits a folding three-seat bench. The middle seats recline almost flat and feature fold-away footrests for ultimate comfort.
2019 Kia Telluride Design
The Telluride Concept came in with a far different appearance than we’re utilized to from Kia. This SUV was huge at 70.9 inches high, 79.1 inches wide and 196.9 inches long, and its modified Sorento wheelbase was 121.3 inches long. On top of huging, the Telluride boasted an upright style with a lot of bodylines to draw one’s eye from one end to the other. It likewise boasted vertical taillights, hood scoops, dual exhaust, and a larger variation of Kia’s Tiger Nose grille. Of course, there are a few things that will not make it to the production Telluride, like the rear-hinged rear doors, however we expect the rest to be pretty near the concept.
2019 Kia Telluride Interior
Inside, the Telluride had much of that idea feel. Something we anticipate to make the transition to production will be its seven-passenger capability that consists of two second-row captain’s chairs and a third-row bench. We likewise anticipate all the most recent technology, like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a premium audio system, heated seats, a large touchscreen, and more.
2019 Kia Telluride Engine
The Telluride Concept displayed a potent hybrid powertrain that boasted a 270-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 and a 130-hp electrical motor with a combined 400 hp. On top of its enormous power, this powertrain could provide up to 30 miles per gallon highway, inning accordance with Kia’s estimates. While this sounds terrific, we anticipate something more conventional, like perhaps Kia’s turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 or the 5.0-liter V8.
2019 Kia Telluride Pricing & Release Date
There is still nothing main on the Telluride’s release, however it’ll supposedly be around for the 2019 or 2020 model year. Offered its likely positioning in the lineup, try to find the production Telluride to sit just about the Sorrento in rates, which varies from $26,890 to $47,290 (location costs included). The Telluride’s competition could include models like the Mazda CX-9, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Dodge Durango.

Mazda's CX-70: Luxury Downsized or Just a CX-90 in Disguise?_FEATURE from Test Miles on Vimeo.
