And the final piece for today, helicoprion. I was going to just paint the tooth whorl itself, but instead I decided to paint the world's goofiest-looking fish.
[ID: A pixel art depiction of the extinct fish helicoprion, seen here from the gills forward. The animal is depicted in various cool colors, with white and dull yellow for accentuation. /ID]

Today's Mayleozoic prompt is Diplocaulus! Flat boi...
[ID: Two photos showing a polyclay figurine of a pale green Diplocaulus, an amphibian with a boomerang-shaped head. It's body is flattened and its long, finned tail appears to be undulating, as though it were swimming. The first photo shows it on a stone slab in the shade, while the second shows it sitting among soil and moss. End ID.]

Unfortunately won't have time for anything except quick doodles today, but the Mayleozoic prompt is Helicoprion, and I wanted to pay homage to its many delightfully outdated reconstructions. They are like little guys to me.
I'll probably refine/add to this at some point and make it a pattern on my redbubble so consider this a WIP I guess?
[ID: Five cartoony, simplified drawings of different versions of Helicoprion, a shark-like animal with a whorl of sharp teeth. In each of the different reconstructions, the tooth whorl is in a different placement on the body. One of them has a lower jaw that ends in a spiral of teeth below its body, one has the tooth spiral at the end of its nose, and one has it at the end of one of its tail fins. There is also one whose body is notably small compared to its tooth whorl, which comes out of its mouth, and one with a saw-like projection of teeth at the end of a very long bottom jaw. Each of them has a different color and pattern, though all are done in shades of blue, gray, and brown. The background is light blue. End ID.]

Inostrancevia for today's Mayleozoic prompt, "stem mammal." Beeg yawn!
[ID: A monochromatic drawing in various shades of purple showing a bust of Inostrancevia. It is a furred, mammal-like animal with a squarish skull, no external ears, and sharp teeth including saber teeth. Its mouth is wide open in a yawn. End ID.]

Dimetrodon for Mayleozoic! Big lad! Lad who is not a dinosaur! Lad with a semi-upright stance!
Also bonus outtake of my cat trying to eat him
[ID: The first photo shows a polyclay sculpture of a Dimetrodon, a brown animal with partially splayed legs and a tall, red, spiny sail on its back. There are a few teeth sticking out of its closed mouth. The second photo shows a white cat biting down onto the sail of the sculpture. End ID.]

I saw @teethands Mayleozoic prompt list and had to do a couple doodles for today's, one of my all-time favorite weird and wonderful prehistoric guys, Tullimonstrum! No Gods No Masters No Taxonomic Categories
(Yes they're nonbinary colors on purpose)
[ID: Two drawings of Tully monsters in a graphic style, with bold, angular black lineart and pronounced shadows. The Tully monsters are aquatic creatures with tapered bodies ending in a fin, eyes on horizontal stalks, and a mouth on the end of a single long facial appendage. The first drawing shows a yellow Tully monster with bright purple stripes up close, its mouth angled toward the viewer. It has stars for pupils and white stars around, and graffiti-like purple letters read, "Defy Labels." The second Tully monster is solid yellow and shown from the side, also with white stars and against a purple background. A white speech bubble coming from the animal's mouth reads in all-caps, "Become Unclassifiable." End ID.]

Another Mayleozoic piece; wiwaxia, an extinct animal that might be related to molluscs.
[ID: A pixel art depiction of wiwaxia, an extinct animal from the cambrian era, done in various shades of blue. The main body of the creature is scaled, with a series of hornlike projections rising from its sides. /ID]

Ending Mayleozoic with a funny little guy, Platyhystrix! I think terrestrial animals made a mistake when we stopped having sails
Really enjoyed this month even though I only did a handful of the prompts. Thanks again to @teethands for the ideas
[ID: A drawing of Platyhystrix, a prehistoric amphibian with a large head and a roughly semicircular sail on its back. Its body is mostly dark blue with teal spots, while the sail is yellow with fairly elaborate black, white, and teal markings. It is shown from the side, looking upward as rain falls. The background is green and features far less detailed sketches of foliage and a fallen log. End ID.]

Looks like I'm going to be a bit late finishing those mayleozoic pieces, but here's one done for the prompt 'extinction'. I was going to draw a gorgonopsian again, but I decided to go with good ol' dimetrodon for reasons.
[ID: A pixel art depiction of the extinct synapsid dimetrodon, dead and dessicated in a desert. /ID]
