wise man â jj maybank
summary: jj is suddenly spiraling.
warnings: unedited, angst, plot twist, violence, blood
author's note: this plot is also not the exact same as season 4, just inspired by it so some things have been changed
This was the worst you'd seen JJ spiral in the 12 years you'd known him.
After being gone all night, he finally returned to the chateau, nothing short of maniacal and fuming. He burst through the front door, ignoring the confused looks plastered on his friends' faces. Instead of sparking up his usual conversation about whatever unusual discoveries he'd made, he made a beeline straight to his room.
"Uh, what the hell was that?" John B asked, his voice tinged with perplexity. Everyone exchanged glances, their faces mirroring the same confusion.
"No idea," Pope replied, just as uncertain as the rest of them.
You sat there in silence, a fretful look etched across your face. JJ had left early that morning without saying where he was going or why. You figured it was better not to ask, given the frantic way heâd left. You thought maybe heâd gone off to blow off some steam or handle errands, but based on his state now, you knew something far graver was at play.
You fidgeted with your fingers in your lap while your friends continued tossing around theories about what was wrong with JJ. But you couldnât focus on their wordsâyour own mind was too busy, running through the worst possibilities. Their voices blended into a distant echo, drowned out by the rush of your thoughts. It wasnât like JJ to return so heated, especially without acknowledging any of his friends. Especially not you.
"Y/n?" Sarahâs voice cut through the fog of your mind, soft but urgent.
"We thought maybe you should go check on him," she suggested plainly, her eyes fixed on you, the others waiting for your reaction.
You swallowed hard, the lump in your throat making it difficult to speak. Your gaze flickered nervously across the room, desperately trying to read everyone's expressions, searching for some answer in their eyes.
"Why me?" you asked rather anxiously. Everyone exchanged glances, the answer written plainly on their faces: you know why. It was no secret that you and JJ had grown closer over the past two years, teetering on the edge of something more than just friendship. If anyone could get through to him and find out what was wrong, it was most likely going to be you.
You knew they weren't going to let you refuseâpartly because they wanted answers, and partly because they were just plain nosy. They were all looking at you expectantly, waiting for you to be the one to break the ice. You sighed, feeling the weight of their pressure as you pushed yourself up off the couch.
"Alright, I'll go talk to him," you muttered, more to yourself than anyone else. You could feel their eyes on you as you made your way toward JJ's room, uncertainty following you with every step.
"Jayj?" You knocked softly, pressing your ear against the door. "It's just me."
The silence on the other side was deafening, so quiet you could practically hear the pounding of your own heartbeat. Seconds stretched into what felt like hours as you stood there, holding your breath, waiting for any sign of acknowledgmentâa word, a movement, the creak of the door opening.
But there was nothing. Just that heavy, unbearable silence.
You knocked again, this time with a bit more urgency. The fear of what might be happening on the other side gnawed at you. "JJ, I just need to know that you're okay," you said softly, your voice tinged with a pleading desperation.
You held your breath, straining to listen for any hint of movement. The silence felt like it was swallowing you whole, the anxiety building with each passing second. Just as you were about to turn away, convinced he wasn't going to respond, you heard itâthe faint creak of the door opening.
JJ stood in the doorway, his hair disheveled, his eyes clouded and unreadable. He looked like a shadow of himself, the usual spark in his gaze replaced by something darker and more distant. For a moment, neither of you said a word. The silence between you felt heavy, filled with all the things you wanted to ask but didn't know how to.
You shifted uncomfortably under his burning stare, your mind racing to find the right thing to say, but coming up empty. "Are you... okay?" you finally managed to cough out, your voice barely above a whisper. Your eyes flicked away from his, unable to hold his intense gaze for long. You found yourself staring at the floor instead, the tension between you nearly suffocating.
JJ let out a low, sinister chuckle, the kind that made your stomach twist. It was the kind of laugh that told you everything was anything but okay. He ran a hand through his hair, tugging at the ends as if trying to ground himself. The motion was tense, almost frantic.
You looked at him with furrowed brows, the unease settling deep in your chest. Without saying another word, you took a step forward and slipped inside his room, gently shutting the door behind you. The soft click of the latch seemed to echo in the tense silence.
Turning to face him, you found JJ still staring at you, his expression blank but his eyes filled with a storm of emotions he was barely holding back. You took a slow, steady breath, trying to keep your own voice calm despite the worry gnawing at you.
"Tell me what's going on, Jay," you said, your voice gentle but firm. You met his gaze, refusing to look away this time. Whatever it was that had him spiraling, you needed to know. And you werenât going to leave until he let you in.
"This has to stay between us, Y/n," JJ said, his voice frantic, barely above a whisper. His eyes locked onto yours, the sincerity and desperation in his gaze making your chest tighten. "If I tell you, you can't tell anyone else. Please."
You nodded slowly, swallowing hard. "Okay, I won't," you responded flatly, keeping your tone steady. You didnât want to push him any further, not when he was so close to the edge.
JJâs hands trembled slightly as he ran them through his hair again, a shaky exhale escaping his lips. He looked at you like he was searching for somethingâmaybe reassurance, maybe the strength to say what he needed to say.
"Luke isn't my dad," he blurted out, his voice cracking on the last word.
The room fell into a heavy silence. For a moment, you weren't sure if you had heard him correctly. You half-expected him to take it back, to say heâd worded himself wrong. But he didnât. He just stood there, his shoulders tense, waiting for your reaction.
Your eyes widened as you absorbed the weight of his confession, struggling to process it. "How do you know?" you asked, your voice barely above a whisper. You forced yourself to stay calm, fighting to keep the shock from seeping into your tone. The last thing you wanted was to set him off even more.
JJ let out a shaky breath, his eyes darting away, unable to meet yours. It was as if the truth was too heavy to hold onto, slipping from his grasp now that it was out in the open.
"He told me," JJ muttered, his voice breaking. "He told me he wasn't my real dad."
The room felt like it was spinning around you. The shock of his words hit you like a wave, and you struggled to keep your expression neutral, not wanting to add to the storm already brewing inside him. "When did he tell you?" you asked gently, taking a cautious step closer.
"Last night," JJ admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. He pressed the heels of his hands against his eyes, trying to fight back the tears threatening to spill. "I pushed him. I kept asking why he was like this, why he treated me the way he did. And he just snapped. He said I wasnât his problemâthat I never was. That I wasnât even his kid.â
You winced at his revelation, the pain of Luke's words hitting you as if they were directed at you. Hearing them through JJ's voice, raw and broken, made it feel like a knife twisting in your chest. Your expression softened, filled with a deep, aching pity. The urge to pull him into your arms, to somehow absorb his pain and take it away, surged inside you.
"Oh, Jay..." you muttered, almost to yourself, your voice barely above a whisper. You reached out a hand but hesitated, unsure if heâd let you touch him in the moment of vulnerability. "This isnât your fault," you continued, your tone weary. "You were just a kid. None of this is on you."
JJâs reddened blue eyes shimmered with unshed tears, one almost slipping free before he hastily wiped it away, as if even a single tear would break the fragile control he clung to. He shook his head, almost violently, as though he could shake off the truth itself. His jaw clenched tight, the muscle in his cheek ticking with every beat of his fraying composure.
"It doesnât matter now," he spat, his voice brittle and sharp, tinged with a bitterness that made your heart twist painfully in your chest. "My whole life has been a lie, Y/n. Everything I thought I knewâitâs all bullshit. The guy I thought was my dad? Heâs nothing but an abusive piece of shit who took out his rage on me because he could. And now⌠I canât help but wonder if things couldâve been different. If Iâd known my real dad, maybe I wouldnât have spent my whole life thinking I was the problem. That I was the reason I was never good enough."
His words cut through the silence like shattered glass, sharp and jagged. You could see the rage roiling in his eyesâthe deep-seated hurt and betrayal, tangled with a rage so fierce it almost felt like it could set the room on fire. His lip quivered, and his hands curled into tight fists at his sides, as though he could crush the pain away with sheer force.
"I hate him," JJ muttered, his voice low, trembling with a fury that seemed to burn him from the inside out. "I hate that he lied to me. That he made me believe I was his son, only to turn around and make me feel like I was nothing. Like I didnât matter. And now Iâm stuck with this... this gaping hole in my chest. All Iâve got are these questions I canât answer and a childhood I canât get back. Nothing can change that. No words can erase what Iâve been through."
The anger in his eyes was raw, searing, but behind it, you could see the deep, aching hurt. He was trembling, his whole body taut like a bowstring about to snap. He looked like he was holding back a flood, desperately trying to keep himself from crumbling under the weight of it all.
Your heart ached at the sight of him standing there, so broken yet still holding onto the frayed edges of his pride. You took a step closer, moving slowly as if approaching a wounded animal, afraid that even the smallest movement might push him over the edge. Gently, you placed a hand on his arm, feeling the tremble of his muscles beneath your fingers.
"Jay," you whispered, your voice gentle but laced with a tinge of fear. You could feel the tension radiating off him, like he was barely holding himself together. "I know nothing can change what's been done," you continued softly, your words careful and deliberate. "And Luke... he was a horrible father. But what he did to youâthat doesnât define who you are. If anything, it only shows how fucked up he is, not you."
You watched JJâs expression falter, the anger dissolving into something far more vulnerableâdefeat. For a moment, you feared he might push you away, retreat behind that wall of bravado and anger he often used to protect himself. But instead, he looked at you, his eyes clouded with exhaustion, his shoulders slumping as if the weight of his revelation was finally too much to bear.
âWhatâs worse,â he muttered, his voice barely above a whisper, âis who my real dad is.â
Your breath hitched, a wave of unease creeping up your spine. You swallowed thickly, bracing yourself for whatever he was about to say, though you knew nothing could have prepared you for this moment. âWho?â you asked, the word slipping out almost involuntarily, like you had to hear it from him to believe it.
JJâs gaze darted away, his eyes fixing on the floor as if he couldnât bear to meet yours. He let out a shaky breath, running a hand through his already disheveled hair. âChandler Groff.â
The name struck you like a lightning bolt, leaving you stunned. Chandler Groffâthe man who had been nothing but a shadowy figure in your and your friends' latest troubles. You had met him just once, in that cobweb-covered mansion, where his strange demeanor and intense fixation on the cursed amulet had left you all feeling uneasy. It was hard to believe that the same man pushing so relentlessly for your friends' to complete Wes' mission, the same man who insisted on the curseâs reality, was JJâs biological father.
Your mouth went dry as you tried to process the new connection. âChandler Groff?â you repeated, more to yourself than to JJ. The pieces began to click togetherâthe urgency, the obsession with the amulet, his strange behavior after Wesâs sudden death. It was as if a curtain had been lifted, revealing a truth far more twisted than you could have imagined.
âYeah,â JJ spat bitterly, his eyes filling with a mixture of pain and fury. âThe guy whoâs been trying to manipulate us into handing over that stupid amulet. The same guy whoâs got the cops breathing down our necks over Wesâs death. Thatâs who my real dad is.â
You took a step closer, feeling the gravity of JJâs emotions pull you in, the betrayal and anguish radiating off him like a palpable force. Your chest tightened at the sight of him, broken and raw in a way you had never seen before. âI canât believe this,â you whispered, your voice thick with sorrow. âIâm so sorry, Jay.â
JJâs face twisted in frustration, his jaw clenching as he shook his head vehemently. âNo,â he snapped, his tone sharp but wavering. âNo more sorries. I donât want your pity or anyone else's. Iâm done thinking about it, done feeling sorry for myself.â His voice cracked, revealing the thin line between his anger and despair. He took a deep breath, his fists curling at his sides as he forced himself to look at you.
âWeâll find that bastard,â he continued, his voice low but filled with a burning resolve. âChandlerâs up to something, and whatever it is, it canât be good. Heâs been playing us from the start. All that crap about Wesâs mission and the curseâit was all just a setup. We need to figure out what he really wants before he makes his next move.â
You nodded, a determined look crossing your face. âThen thatâs what weâll do. Weâll get to the bottom of this together, Jay. Whatever Chandlerâs planning, heâs not going to get away with it."
For a fragment of a moment, JJ's expression eased. He took in a deep sigh as though your words breathed life back into him, exemplified by the way his fists unclenched themselves and the veins in his neck disappeared.
"I'm sorry if I worried you earlier," he mumbled an apology, his voice full of regret, "I wasn't thinking. As soon as I heard the news I.. I just saw red." His confession was candid, as if he was slowly coming to terms with everything he had just learned in the past 24 hours.
You took a sigh of relief mentally, giving JJ a faint smile of approval. "It's okay, I don't blame you for it. I think I would've done the same," you reassured with buoyancy in your voice, "maybe worse."
JJ replied to your sentiment with a faint chuckle and a tenuous head shake, appreciating your wit in the wake of the chaos plaguing his life.
"Y/n?" JJ muttered, his voice nearly mute.
"Yeah?"
"I don't know what I'd do without you. I don't think I could handle this if you weren't here." He admitted with of tone of gravitas that you had never heard from him before. You knew that what he was saying was vulnerable for him to confess, which made your heart flutter in your chest.
"I don't think I deserve that much credit," you joked, trying to break up the tension that filled the room between the two of you. You wanted to be raw and honest with him, to tell him you look for him in every man you meet, but it didn't feel like the right time to do so. Not when he was still processing the news about his father.
"You don't even realize how much you do for all of us, for me." This was a side of JJ you hadn't seen much before, maybe in glimpses, but never fully. He was standing in front of you, his eyes still adorned with sorrow but masked by the veneration he had for you. You felt small under his burning gaze but he held his eye contact, although you swore he secretly knew how you were crumbling beneath his stare.
"Jayâ"
"Will you just stay with me tonight?" JJ softly implored, his desperate eyes making it hard for you to say 'no'.
"But what if they ask why I was in here all night? You know they're nosy."
"Let them ask," he shrugged, lying down on the bed next to you, "c'mon. Just for tonight."
He was convincing, but it didn't help that you already had a burning penchant for him. You stood there for a moment as you took in his figure, tragically beautiful and maimed by malice in an unjustly harsh life. His eyes felt haunting to look at as they painted a picture of the grief he so desperately tried to run away from, but he couldn't hide it from you.
"Okay," you silently replied.
You slid off your shoes and delicately climbed your way next to the empty spot in the bed next to JJ. A pair of cerulean eyes stayed glued to you as you nuzzled carefully under the covers. You dare not look over as he watched you in fear that you would make things awkward if you acknowledged his glance.
Once you felt situated, you closed your eyes in hopes that you would quickly fall asleep and get through the night, but before you could drift off you felt an arm drape over your waist and pull you in. JJ gently placed your head into his chest, letting you feel the beating of his heart in the dead of silence. You didn't move. You wanted to take in the moment and capture it in your mind, knowing that one day you'd look back at where you were and admire whatever happened right then.
â
"Okay, this is a lot to take in," Pope interrupted, his voice breaking the heavy silence that had enveloped the room. "But we need to stay focused. Chandlerâs part in all thisâhis connection to JJâit complicates everything. We can't just let it slide."
You looked over at JJ, his frustration and sarcasm evident in his posture as he leaned back against the couch, arms crossed over his chest. "Tell me about it," he scoffed, his tone sharp, the sarcasm almost like a shield to deflect the rawness of what he had just shared.
Kiara leaned forward, her brow furrowed in thought as she looked between you and JJ. "So what do you suggest we do?" she asked, her voice steady, but the urgency was clear. "Because this... this whole thing is a mess."
JJ sat back against the couch, running a hand through his disheveled hair as he stared at the floor, his eyes distant. "I don't know," he muttered, frustration creeping into his tone. "I just... I need answers. We all do. Chandler Groffâheâs been playing us this whole time. And I donât care what it takes, weâre going to find out what the hell he really wants from us."
Kiara exchanged a glance with Pope, then turned her gaze back to JJ, her expression serious. "We have to be careful. If we push too hard, we could end up walking right into his trap."
JJ nodded slowly, his jaw clenched, the tension radiating off him. "I know. But we need to find out what he's planning before he fucks us over." His voice was tight with anger and desperation, as if the weight of everything was finally hitting him.
Kiara gave a sharp nod, her expression resolute. "We canât let him get away with whatever this is. But we need a plan. We canât just go in blind."
Pope crossed his arms, clearly deep in thought. "Agreed. If weâre gonna do this, we need to stay one step ahead of him. Maybe we start by finding out more about Chandlerâs connection to that amulet. The whole curse thing doesn't add up."
You looked between them, your mind racing. "And we need to figure out who else heâs been talking to, whoâs been helping him. We might have enemies we donât even know about yet."
JJ glanced at you, his eyes softer now, but still burning with that same fury. "Exactly. We need answers, and we need them fast." His tone dropped as he added, "I donât know how much longer I can keep pretending everything's normal."
"So we'll go find him," John B stated flatly, joining in on the commotion. His voice was steady, but there was an underlying edge to it that matched the intensity in the room.
JJ looked at him, eyes narrowing with determination. "Yeah. We find Chandler, get answers, and make him tell us exactly what the hell heâs after. No more games."
"Alright," Pope sighed, shaking his head but with a hint of resolve creeping in. "Then letâs do this."
He stood up, adjusting his shirt, the weight of the decision hanging in the air. Kiara let out a quiet breath, glancing at each of her friends as if to make sure they were all on the same page.
"Alright," she said, her voice firm despite the tension. "We stick to the planâfind Chandler, get answers, and stay smart about it."
JJ, now more determined than ever, stood up, the raw emotion in his eyes still burning, but his posture more focused than before. "Weâll go in, weâll make him talk, and weâre walking out with answers. No oneâs leaving empty-handed." His tone was cold, cutting through the room like a sharpened blade.
John B, always the one to lighten the mood, gave a half-grin, though it didnât quite reach his eyes. "Letâs just hope Chandler doesnât decide to pull some crazy stunt. Iâd prefer a calm confrontation over a full-out brawl."
You couldnât help but chuckle lightly at John Bâs attempt to inject some humor into the moment. But as you glanced at JJ, you saw the weight of everything he was carrying on his shoulders, and it was clear that this wasnât just another adventure to him. This was personal.
"Weâve got your back, Jay," you said, your voice soft but steady. "Weâre in this together."
JJ looked over at you, a quiet acknowledgment in his eyes. "I know. Thanks."
â
The old house loomed in front of you, its once grand façade now cloaked in shadows. The mansion, still as eerie as ever, seemed to exhale a quiet menace. You stood there on the porch, a knot of anticipation tightening in your chest. Beside you, JJ's presence felt like a comfort, but the tension radiating off him was evident.
He gave the door a pointed look before knocking again, this time louder, more forceful, as if demanding an answer rather than simply waiting for one. It felt like an eternity before you heard the shuffling of footsteps from inside.
The door remained firmly shut, and just when you thought Chandler might not answer, the heavy locks rattled. The door creaked open, revealing Chandler standing in the doorway, his face unreadable. His cold blue eyes scanned you both for a moment, then his gaze flickered to the group standing a few steps behind you.
"Why are you here?" His voice was low, measured, though there was an edge to it that made it clear he wasnât exactly thrilled by the visit.
JJ didnât waste any time. His voice came out flat but with an undercurrent of something darker, something more urgent. "We need to talk. There's things we need to ask you about."
Chandler's eyes flickered over you both, sizing you up, his lips curling into something like a half-smile. He didnât speak right away, his gaze lingering just a little too long, as if trying to decide whether to let you in or slam the door shut. The silence stretched, thick and suffocating, before he finally stepped back, motioning for you to enter.
âAlright,â Chandler said, his voice low and gravelly. âBut we do this inside. The last thing I need is anyone overhearing this conversation.â
You exchanged a glance with JJ, his eyes full of fire and frustration. He wasnât backing down, and neither were you. Together, you stepped past Chandler into the dimly lit interior of the mansion. The air inside was heavy with dust, and the smell of old wood and stale air lingered. The house was just as you rememberedâhuge, but strangely empty, like something had been hollowed out long ago.
âWhat do you two want?â Groff asked, his gaze shifting to the both of you.
JJ didnât give him a chance to say anything else. He took a step forward, his jaw tight with suppressed fury. âAre you my real dad?â he asked, the words coming out sharp, cutting through the silence like a knife.
Chandlerâs expression flickered for a moment, a brief flash of something unreadable crossing his face. He didnât immediately answer. Instead, he stood there, a wall of silence between them.
âAre you?â JJ repeated, his voice growing louder, insistent. âAre you my real dad?â
The words hung in the air, heavy and suffocating. For a moment, the world seemed to stop. JJ stood frozen, his eyes wide with disbelief and anger, his fists clenching at his sides as if the truth were too much to process.
JJ shook his head, almost in disbelief, his voice tight with emotion. âWhy didnât you tell me?â he demanded, stepping closer, his chest rising and falling with barely contained rage. âWhy didnât you just tell me the truth? Why all the games, all the lies?â
Chandler didnât seem to flinch. He took a step back, crossing his arms over his chest. âIt wasnât the right time,â he said coldly, his tone flat. âAnd, quite frankly, you wouldnât have been ready to hear it.â
JJâs face twisted with anger, his eyes flashing with hurt. âYouâre fucking unbelievable,â he muttered under his breath, the weight of years of manipulation and deceit crashing down on him.
You stepped closer, watching the exchange unfold, feeling a mixture of sympathy and anger for both of them. âSo this whole time, youâve been using us?â you asked, your voice low and edged with disbelief. âThis whole thingâWes, the amuletâwas all part of your plan?â
Chandlerâs gaze sharpened, his expression unreadable. âPlans donât happen overnight,â he said smoothly, a slight smile tugging at his lips. âEverything has its purpose. And now youâre part of that purpose, whether you like it or not.â
JJ looked like he was about to explode, his body shaking with barely contained rage. But instead, he took a deep breath, forcing the words out through clenched teeth. âWeâre done being your puppets. Whatever your plan is, weâre stopping it.â
Chandlerâs smile widened, but it was thin, like a wolfâs grin. âYou think you can stop it?â he said, his voice dripping with arrogance. âYou donât even know what youâre up against.â
âWeâll find out,â JJ snapped. âAnd when we do, youâre going to wish you never dragged us into this.â
"Not so fast," Chandler warned, stepping forward, his eyes never leaving JJâs. "You have something I want."
JJ didnât flinch. His blue eyes were burning with defiance, his chest rising and falling with quick breaths. âIâm not handing over shit, Groff,â he growled, voice low and filled with venom. âYou want something, youâre gonna have to earn it.â
Chandlerâs lips curled into a cold smile, his posture never wavering. He looked almost pleased with the reaction. âOh, I donât think you fully understand yet, JJ. Iâm not asking for permission. Iâm telling youâyou will give it to me.â
There was a brief pause, the tension in the room so thick it could be cut with a knife. Chandlerâs gaze flicked to you, then back to JJ, as if trying to gauge the next move.
"You have no idea what you're dealing with," Chandler continued, his tone dangerously calm. "That amulet youâre holding onto? Itâs not just some trinket. Itâs mine. And Iâll do whatever it takes to get it back."
Before you could even process what was happening, Chandlerâs hand shot out like lightning, grabbing you by the wrist with an iron grip. The surprise hit you all at once as he yanked you forward, his movements swift and precise. Your breath caught in your throat, panic flooding your senses.
You struggled instinctively, but Chandlerâs hold was unyielding, his fingers digging into your skin as he jerked you closer. âStay where you are,â he ordered, his voice cold and commanding.
JJ took a step forward, eyes widening in shock as he lunged to get closer. âLet her go, Chandler!â His voice cracked with a mixture of rage and fear, but Chandler didnât release his grip.
âYou think Iâm going to play fair?â Chandler sneered, his hand moving to his jacket pocket with casual menace. âNo. Youâre going to give me what I want, or she dies.â
You barely had time to process the words before Chandlerâs knife was suddenly there, pressed against your throat. The cold metal against your skin made you freeze, heart hammering in your chest. You could feel the danger now, the raw, visceral threat. Chandlerâs voice was a whisper in your ear, almost playful in its cruelty.
âHand it over, or Iâll carve her up right here.â
Your pulse thundered in your ears, and you could barely breathe. Everything around you seemed to slow down, the tension rising with every passing second. Chandlerâs grip on you tightened, the knife at your throat a constant, terrifying reminder of how quickly everything had shifted from a confrontation to something far worse.
âJJ,â you gasped, your voice trembling despite yourself, âdonât... donât do it. Justââ
JJâs eyes flicked to yours, the pain and conflict written plainly across his face. He looked as if every muscle in his body was screaming at him to fight, to do anything but give in, but there was no room for error now, not with the knife pressed so dangerously close to your skin. He swallowed hard, his chest rising and falling in shallow, rapid breaths.
âOkay, Iâll give it to you,â JJ finally agreed, his voice barely more than a whisper, each word sounding like it was being dragged from his throat. His hand reached into his pocket, pulling out the small, worn bag that held the amulet. He held it up, fingers trembling as he slowly raised it for Chandler to see.
âNo, JJ!â you protested, your voice a strangled cry, tears welling in your eyes. The thought of him handing it over to Chandler, of giving in to the man who had already caused so much pain, twisted something deep inside of you. But the sharp edge of the blade pressed harder against your throat, silencing you, forcing you into a terrifying stillness.
Chandlerâs lips curled into a satisfied smirk, his eyes gleaming with a sinister triumph. âGood choice,â he cooed mockingly, his grip on you tightening as he stretched his other hand out towards JJ. The sight of him, so confident, so sure he had won, made your blood boil despite the fear gripping your heart.
JJ's hand trembled as he extended the bag towards Chandler. His eyes stayed locked on yours, searching your face for any sign of fear or pain. Your breath hitched when Chandlerâs cold fingers grazed the bag, snatching it away. He wasted no time, pushing you forward with a force that sent you stumbling straight into JJâs arms.
You collided into his chest, his embrace closing around you in an instant. His body curled protectively over yours, shielding you from Chandler's reach as he held you close. âItâs okay,â JJ whispered into your ear, his voice ragged with relief. âIâve got you.â He didnât even look back at Groff, all his focus on you, as if the danger had passed the moment you were in his grasp.
But behind him, Chandler's expression shifted as he opened the bag and peered inside. The smirk on his face vanished, replaced by a scowl of rage. The amulet wasnât there. It was nothing but a ruse. Heâd been tricked, and it didnât take him long to realize who had played him.
With a deadly calm, Chandler called out, âJJ.â
The sound of his name, dripping with cold malice, made JJ's spine straighten. He pulled back just enough to look at you, a fleeting moment of confusion in his eyes. Then, he turned around, his gaze narrowing as he faced Chandler.
But it was already too late. In one swift motion, Chandler lunged forward. The blade gleamed in the dim light for a split second before it drove into JJâs stomach. The impact was sickening, a hollow thud as the knife sank deep.
Your scream tore through the air, raw and filled with terror. JJâs eyes widened in shock, his breath hitching as the pain hit him like a wave. He staggered, his arms instinctively clutching his abdomen as blood started to stain his shirt, dark and spreading fast.
Chandlerâs face was a mask of fury, his hand still gripping the hilt of the knife. He twisted it slightly, a cruel sneer curling his lips. âYou thought you could fool me?â he spat, his voice dripping with venom. âDid you really think I wouldnât notice?â
JJâs knees buckled, his body sagging as the strength drained out of him. You lunged forward, catching him before he could collapse completely, your hands desperately pressing over his wound in a futile attempt to stop the bleeding.
âJJ, stay with me,â you begged, your voice breaking as you looked up at him, tears streaming down your face. His blue eyes were clouded with pain, but he managed to meet your gaze, a weak, rueful smile tugging at his lips.
âIâm sorry,â he choked out, his voice barely a whisper. âI thought... I thought I could protect you.â
You shook your head, your hands trembling as you held him. âNo, no, JJ, donât say that. Youâre going to be okay. Weâll get you help. Just stay with me, please.â
Chandler ran off into the darkness, leaving you holding onto JJ as he slumped against you. Panic surged through your veins, and you looked down at his wound, your hands trembling as you pressed down in a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding. The warm, sticky blood coated your fingers, and you could feel his pulse weakening beneath your touch.
"This isnât happening," you whispered frantically, shaking your head in denial. Your wide-open eyes darted around the room, searching for anything you could use to help. "No, no, no," you muttered under your breath, your voice thick with desperation.
You glanced up at JJâs face, his eyes half-lidded and unfocused, the pain written all over his features. âStay with me, Jay,â you begged, tears streaming down your cheeks as you cradled his head in your hands.
"John B! Pope!" you screamed, your voice raw as it echoed through the old house. The sound reverberated off the walls, mixing with the eerie silence that followed Chandlerâs exit. The urgency in your call felt like a knife in your chest, twisting deeper with each passing second.
JJ's voice was barely a whisper, strained and breathless as he looked up at you, his eyes half-lidded but still so intensely blue. âY/N, I never got to tell you⌠but I love you.â His words came out fragile, like he was using his last bit of strength just to say them. The raw, unfiltered emotion behind them made your heart lurch in your chest.
Your breath hitched, the tears youâd been holding back finally breaking free, streaming down your cheeks in an unrelenting flow. You shook your head vehemently, the desperation clear in your voice as you clutched his face between your trembling hands. âNo, JJ, no," you choked out, your voice thick with emotion. "This isnât whatâs happening. Youâre not going to leave me. You canâtââ You could barely get the words out, your chest heaving with sobs.
His gaze softened as he looked at you, his lips curling into the faintest of smiles despite the pain. He reached up weakly, his hand brushing against your cheek, wiping away a tear with his thumb. âItâs okay,â he murmured, his voice a hushed whisper, barely audible over the pounding of your heart. âI just needed you to know.â
You leaned into his touch, your tears wetting his hand as you pressed your forehead against his. âDonât do this, Jay. Donât say goodbye. We still have so much to do, so many plans. You promised me we'd get out of this together.â
He closed his eyes for a moment, as if soaking in your presence, before opening them again, his gaze full of a love and longing that broke your heart into a million pieces. âYouâre my everything, Y/N,â he admitted, his voice cracking with the weight of his words. âIâm sorry I didnât tell you sooner.â
âYouâre going to tell me every day for the rest of our lives,â you insisted, your voice pleading as you squeezed his hand tightly, trying to ground him, to keep him here with you. âYou hear me? Youâre staying with me. I canât do this without you, Jay. Please, donât leave me.â
He gave a small, shaky nod, like he was trying to hold on, but you could see the light starting to fade from his eyes, the pain overtaking him. You felt his grip on your hand slacken slightly, and it sent a jolt of pure terror through you.
âNo! No, stay with me, JJ. Please!â you begged, pressing your forehead against his, your sobs turning into broken, gasping cries. You could barely see through your tears, your entire world narrowing down to just the two of you, in this moment, as you clung to him with everything you had.
You shook him frantically, your hands pressing against his chest, trying to force his heart to beat beneath your trembling fingers. It felt like you were grasping at the wind, like the very essence of him was slipping through your hands. The sticky warmth of his blood covered your skin, a horrifyingly vivid reminder that time was running out, slipping away with every breathless second.
âJJ, wake up,â you begged, your voice raw and broken, cracking under the weight of your anguish. It felt like you were underwater, drowning in the reality of what was happening, each sob choked out like it was your last. His face, once so full of life, now looked pale and ghostly, his blue eyes shut as if he was already slipping away to someplace you couldnât reach.
âYou canât die here. You canât leave me!â The words tore from your throat in a strangled scream, filled with a desperation that felt like it could rip you apart from the inside. Your hands pumped his chest with a rhythm that faltered, each push driven by a frantic hope, a silent prayer, as if sheer willpower could bring him back. Tears blurred your vision, but you couldnât stop, wouldnât let yourself believe that this was the end.
You could feel the life draining out of him, like the color bleeding from a watercolor painting washed away by rain. His skin grew colder beneath your touch, and you leaned over him, pressing your forehead to his, your tears mingling with the blood staining his shirt.
âPlease, JJ, please,â you whispered, your voice breaking into a thousand tiny shards, each one sharper than the last. It was a fragile, fractured sound, more a plea to the universe than a call to him. âI need you,â you breathed, pressing your trembling lips to his forehead, the coldness of his skin like ice against your warmth. âI need you to stay, for me.â
The room felt like it was caving in, the air heavy with an unbearable weight. Your hands pressed against his wound, blood seeping through your fingers, warm and sticky, like the life was slipping away from him and into the cracks between your knuckles. The world outside seemed distant, muted, as if it no longer mattered. It was just you and him, suspended in a moment that felt like it was slipping away, stolen by timeâs unforgiving hands.
Tears blurred your vision, painting the scene in watercolors of red and black, smearing his face into something unrecognizable. You choked on a sob, the sound raw and ragged, your body trembling with the force of your desperation. âJJ, donât do this,â you pleaded, your words spilling out in a rush, your voice laced with a pain so deep it felt like it might consume you. âYou canât leave me. Not now. Not like this.â
His chest barely moved, the rise and fall so faint it was almost imperceptible, like the flicker of a candle about to be snuffed out. His eyes fluttered, half-open, clouded with pain, but still searching for you, trying to hold on to whatever sliver of light he could find in your gaze. The silence between you was deafening, filled with everything you wished you had said, every moment youâd taken for granted.
âPlease,â you sobbed, your voice cracking, raw and exposed. âI love you. I love you so much, JJ.â Your words were a desperate confession, one you wished youâd said a thousand times before but had only found the courage to say now, when it felt like it was already too late. Your fingers curled into his shirt, clinging to him like he was the only thing anchoring you to this world.
You could feel him slipping away, the light in his eyes dimming like the last rays of a setting sun. His lips parted, a shallow breath escaping, but no words came out. Just a faint, ghostly smile, the kind youâd only ever seen when he was hiding something, some quiet secret he held close to his chest. It was haunting, the way he looked at you, like he was already seeing something beyond this world.
âNo,â you whispered fiercely, shaking your head as if you could defy reality itself. âYouâre not dying here. Not now. Not like this.â Your hands cupped his face, willing him to stay, to hold on just a little longer. But his eyes slipped shut, the last vestiges of life draining from his features, leaving behind a stillness that was more terrifying than anything youâd ever faced.
Before you could utter another word, the door burst open, and your friends rushed in, their faces twisted into expressions of pure horror. They stopped short, frozen by the scene before themâJJâs lifeless body cradled in your arms, blood pooling beneath him, and your own face streaked with tears. The room fell into an eerie silence, filled only with the echo of your sobs, the kind that tore from deep within your chest like a howl into the void. It was a silence laced with a devastating realization, a shared understanding that this was Groff's doingâthat he had orchestrated this final, cruel act.
You couldnât bring yourself to look up, couldnât face the shock and grief in their eyes. Instead, you pressed your forehead against JJâs, as if in some desperate, final attempt to connect with whatever piece of him might still linger. Your body shook violently, your cries filling the space, haunting and raw. It was the sound of a heart breaking, of a love being ripped away far too soon.
"JJ," you whimpered, your voice barely a whisper, a prayer to whatever force could undo this nightmare. You ran your fingers through his hair, your touch gentle, like you were afraid to break whatever fragile illusion still held him close. His skin was already turning cold, the warmth you had known and loved fading away, replaced by a chilling emptiness.
You kissed his cheek, your lips trembling against his skin, tasting the salt of your own tears. The bitter taste of grief washed over you as you whispered, "I love you," words you had said so many times before but had never felt this heavy, this final. The love of your life lay still in your arms, his spirit gone, leaving behind only a hollow shell.
The others stood by helplessly, tears streaming down their own faces as they bore witness to your agony, each of them shattered in their own way. But none of them dared to interrupt. This moment, this unbearable pain, belonged to you. It was a sorrow too deep for words, a loss that hung heavy in the air, sinking into the very bones of the room.
You held onto him tighter, refusing to let go, as if by sheer will alone you could pull him back from the abyss. But deep down, you knew it was too late. JJ was gone, and you were left with the echoes of what could have been, the cruel, jagged edges of a future that would never come to pass.

The police lights flash in the midnight sky. Agents and local police spread across the farmhouse. And you, sitting in the back of an ambulance, blood dripping down the side of your head, the beginnings of a headache making itself known. Â
The bright torch shining in your eyes makes you wince, but the EMT clears you of a concussion and hands you pain meds to swallow. You drag your hand through your hair, a frustrated sigh leaving your lips.Â
The unsub had come out of nowhere and whacked you over the head with a metal pole, and he probably wouldâve done a lot more if it wasnât for Tara being two steps behind you.Â
Honestly, you were fine. A little banged up, with a nasty bruise already forming, but the blood had been wiped away and it was almost like it had never happened.
Well, apart from the very angry Unit Chief Prentiss stalking towards you.Â
You wish this was an unfamiliar sight, but god sheâd been back months now and you donât think her smile had been pointed in your direction once.Â
âWhat were you thinking?â She scolds, voice sharp and eyes narrowed. You donât miss the shaking of her hands as she holds them tightly on her hips or the rising flush of her cheeks, both she would blame on the cold but you knew they were born out of concern, not that sheâd ever admit it. Not anymore.
âIâm sorry I didnât realise the FBI now required its agents to have the abilities to see through walls.â You roll your eyes, the half-joke an attempt to fix her glare, but you know even as the words pass your lips itâs futile. Your shoulders slump, already tired for the fight ahead, âHe came out of nowhere, Prentiss.âÂ
Her lips purse, âThey require you to be able to clear a room. It seems you might need a refresher course. Maybe until you can be trusted and I deem you requalified itâs best you stay back in quantico.âÂ
âWhat?â You ask incredulously. Of all the dumb things- âLet me get this straight, youâre benching me over nothing? Tara was through that door seconds later. I wasnât defying your orders. You have no reason to do this!â
âI want you to redo your basic training so I know you can be trusted in the field.â She demands, stoic, serious, and so far away from the soft woman you used to be able to reach out to.Â
You laugh, but the noise is sad and wild. You shake your head in disbelief, watching the woman in front of you that years ago used to be the person you were closest to in the world. Now you stare at her and feel every part of the ocean that destroyed you both. âGod, youâre so emotionally constipated.âÂ
âExcuse me?âÂ
You push yourself off the end of the ambulance, bringing yourself to your full height and meeting her gaze. You knew the day she accepted the unit chief position this wouldnât end well, there was too much history, too much the two of you had left unsaid, hurt and anger smothering any possible relationship left.Â
âLetâs not pretend this has anything to do with my performance.â You begin,
words low enough that if she didnât listen the words threatened to disappear with the wind, âItâs because I got hurt and youâd rather damage my career and ruin the tatters of our relationship than admit that me getting hurt scared you.âÂ
Emily steps backwards, face stricken. Her hands fall from her hips, her mouth opening and closing as she struggles for words.Â
You decide thereâs nothing left she can say. You excuse yourself and grab a lift with Luke, happy to leave the crime scene and your boss behind. After everyoneâs finished at the farmhouse and packed up at the police station itâs nearing two am and everyone is ordered back to the hotel to catch a few hours of sleep before the flight in the morning.Â
Your feet are dragging by the time you make it to your room. The meds have done their job though and your headache had faded away, but nothing but sleep was going to help your heavy and aching bones. You wave a tired goodbye to Tara, who unlike Emily had no issues checking in and making sure you were okay, and then retreat to your room.Â
You slump into the chair at the desk, telling yourself youâll find the energy to get ready for bed in one minute. But so thankful to finally be off your feet. Your reprieve lasts only minutes before a knock sounds at your door. A withered sigh leaves your lips and you consider ignoring it but still find yourself pushing yourself upright and making your way back to the door.Â
When you open it, you wish youâd listened to your thoughts.Â
âHi?â You say hesitantly, staring into the tired face of Emily Prentiss. Thereâs no anger, her shoulders are almost slumped, defeated maybe? You look away, too scared to analyse further.Â
âCan I come in?âÂ
You open the door further allowing her entrance. She smiles, tight lipped at you, nodding her thanks. You close the door and wait for her to speak, pondering how in the hell you both got to awkward silences and forced tight lipped smiles when years ago you two could share looks across the room and know what the other was thinking, spent hours talking and laughing together, how you had built a life and never thought there would be a day that she wasnât in it with you.Â
âWe canât go on like this.â She starts eyes meeting yours before flickering away, âThings between us have not been right since I returned and I think maybe we should clear the air. I want to be the Unit Chief, I want to be back here at Quantico but that only works if we can be a team.âÂ
You scoff. It slips from your mouth, uncontrolled and harsh. Emilyâs gaze snaps to yours, her surprise at the sound clear. You shake your head, âWhat is there to say?â Where would we even begin?
âI-â She chokes, blinking as the emotions claw at her throat. âIâm sorry for hurting you.â
Your brows draw in confusion as you shake your head, âWhat are you talking about?â
âAfter everything that happened with Doyle-â
Your eyes bulge, âYou think I'm still upset about that? God, do you think Iâm a monster? You survived. You lived. Thatâs all that matters.âÂ
Tears pool in her eyes, but she blinks them away, her gaze shifting to the wall as her fingers pick at a hangnail. She looks back at you, still picking, gaze more open and lost than youâve seen in a long time. âThen why? I hurt you. I can see it in the way you can barely stand to be around me, like it hurts you to even be in my presence.âÂ
You blow out a breath, eyes moving around the room before they land back on her and then away again. âItâs not your fault.â You breathe, emotions lodged in your throat and heart beating wildly against your chest as you try and force the words out. âYou didnât hurt me, I hurt myself. There was never going to be a life I led that you werenât right with me, you know?â You laugh, wet and broken.Â
Emilyâs mouth falls open, her eyes emotional pits that you donât dare hold.Â
âAnd then you left for London and I couldnât exactly be upset because I had no say in what you did with your life. We were just friends. I knew itâs what you needed and I donât resent you for that. I justâŚâ You take a breath, âI was so angry at myself for missing you, for thinking that I could be someone you would stay for.â
And there it was. The truth. Because at the end of the day, youâve always just wanted to be enough for the woman in front of you. For her to see you as more than just your friend. To one day have your feelings returned.Â
Sheâd left and youâd both been busy and youâd deliberately tried to separate yourself as well, drawing back from the painful reminder that you werenât enough. And since her return, all those emotions have been resurfacing, however much you tried to keep them buried. Because falling out of love with Emily Prentiss was just not something you were capable of, and youâve spent years trying too.Â
Emily approaches you, the space between you closing ever so slightly. Your gaze sticks to the ground, scared to see the easy to read emotions across her face. She takes a breath, the sound muffled by the beating of your heart.
âAfter I came back from Paris, I used to find myself looking at you and knowing I couldnât be that woman you remembered, the one you sought for. I wanted to. Desperately.â Her voice hitches, and then lowers to a hoarse whisper, âI wanted to be the woman you fell for.âÂ
Your eyes finally rise, against your will. Tears make their way in delicate paths down her cheeks, she looks every bit as lost as you feel. The only thing stopping you from falling apart is the fear that if you let go you may never recover.Â
âI didnât need you to be anyone. I just wanted you to be yourself. I wanted you to trust me.â You respond gently.
She shakes her head, âNo, everyone was looking for that version of me that I couldnât grasp onto.â
âEmily,â You sigh painfully. Her face crumples, eyes squeezing shut at the sound of her name from your lips. Itâs been so long, you know. âYou were healing from a trauma. Iâve always wanted the authentic you, whatever that includes. Why would that suddenly change?âÂ
She nods, a deep frown on her face as she accepts your words. Then a wet laugh, as she wipes away her tears. âIâve missed you. Every day. I hate being in the same room as you and it being awkward. I used to be able to look at you and know what youâre thinking. I want that back.âÂ
A small smile curves your lips, âMe too, more than anything.âÂ
âYeah?â She questions. Her teeth run across her lip, as she dares to hope. âYou think we could get back there?âÂ
Your heart hammers. âI just need you to be really clear here. What exactly are we getting back to?âÂ
She steps forward, finally close enough to touch. Her hand hesitantly reaches out and touches yours, her cold fingers intertwining with your warm ones. Your body remembers her touch, relaxes and leans into it automatically. You eat it hungrily, tracking the movement before your eyes rise to meet hers and find soft, open eyes watching you. âI want to make you fall in love with me again.â
Your breath catches in your throat, tears pooling in your eyes as your hand shakes in hers.
âAnd this time, I promise, Iâll be there to catch you.âÂ
âWe might have a slight problem with that plan.â You laugh, trying your hardest not to sob.
She frowns, nose wrinkling in the way you adore. âWhatâs that?âÂ
âItâs pretty difficult to re-fall in love when I never stopped loving you in the first place.â You huff, and Emily laughs, rich and free and bright. Her face joyful and happy, and with the wide bright smile youâve waited months to feel pointed in your direction. God the sight makes your head spin.
âIs that so?â She asks, hand moving up to cup your cheek, eyes full of love and pointed at you.Â
You can only nod, dizzy from her attention and the emotions coursing through your body.Â
When her lips find yours it feels like finally coming home. Soft and delicate, both too scared to push too hard, exploring slowing even as her hand holds your cheek and yours fists in her shirt. Youâve waited years for this, and if you get more of these than it will be worth it. Everything is worth it for the feeling of Emily in your arms.Â
When she pulls away, itâs too soon. You follow her mouth and she concedes and gives you a couple more slow kisses before she stops herself, resting her forehead against yours.
âI just want to say sorry for earlier.â She whispers into the safe space youâve built. âYou were right, I was scared when you got hurt. Daveâs already kicked my ass for my response, you wonât receive any disciplinary action.â
You nod slightly, her forehead moving against yours, âThank you.âÂ
âIt wonât happen again.â She promises, sealing the words with a kiss to your lips.Â
âI know.â You kiss her again, but this time you break out into a yawn midway through. Your momentarily forgotten exhaustion, making itself known.Â
She melts against you, caressing your cheek. âOh, you need to sleep. We can talk more tomorrow. Iâm taking you out for dinner.âÂ
You bite your lip to hide the smile threatening to take over your face, âA date?âÂ
She chuckles, rolling her eyes. âYes, a date. But only if you sleep first.âÂ
âYour wish is my command.â You canât stop the grin from taking over your face anymore. You press a peck to her lips and lead her back towards the door. âIâll see you tomorrow.âÂ
âTomorrow.â She agrees, eyes fluttering over your face as if sheâs committing every aspect to memory. âSleep well.âÂ
âYou too.âÂ
She presses one last kiss to your lips before she opens the door and makes her exit. You close the door quietly behind her, sinking back into it and allowing the giggle to finally escape your mouth.
What the fuck had just happened.Â
Emily Prentiss kissed you.Â
Emily Prentiss has feelings for you.Â
You werenât alone.
You bite your lip and push off the door, finally ready to get ready for bed and praying come morning that this would still be your reality.

could you pretend to be in love? (10/10)
The Realization
pairing: modern!aemond Ă fem!reader (fake dating)
summary: prom is coming and so is the end of a stage in your life. surprises and unexpected conversations take place, the question is, are you able to forgive in order to move on?
word count: 9.7k
previous part ⢠series masterlist
this is not a drill, it's really happening!
first of all, i want to apologize for having left this story aside without finishing it. it wasn't something i decided, the writer's block precisely in this fic made me not try anymore for a while, mostly to clear my mind and my ideas, because i had no idea what to write after chapter nine đ
so I hope you really forgive me and enjoy the last chapter 𼺠it has been an honor to have given you this little fic, I really enjoyed writing it despite the little mental breakdowns I had haha
and just like my other stories, I keep it in my heart and it will always be here for whenever you want to reread (I will make sure to post it in AO3, don't worry) i'm also thinking of doing a poll about the epilogue where you guys will decide if you want one or prefer this ending. let me know after you finish reading the chapter đ¤
enjoy and I look forward to your comments!
It still all feels like a bad dream that you can't wake up from. An unwanted dream. A nightmare.
And every time a new day comes, you feel like a human being who does everything in automatic mode, not because you really want to.
In front of your dad you must pretend that everything is fine, but as soon as you leave home and get to school, you feel a huge weight and a sadness that nothing and no one can take away from you.
You feel the stares of some people on you, if not all of them. But the truth is that you feel so emotionally drained that you don't even pay attention to them.
Many would say that not being accepted to a college doesn't mean it's the end of the world. Nor does it mean that your chances are over because there is still too much time to be able to do everything you want.
And you accept that they are right. All is not lost because you didn't get accepted.
When you were rejected the first time when you applied in conjunction with the scholarship, disillusionment sets in. There is disappointment in yourself for not being enough and there is this question that constantly floats in your mind; why others do and I don't? Why am I not worthy of the same fate as them?
Maybe it's age, but it's inevitable to feel that rejection and failure after having so many plans and having in mind the idea of making your dad proud by telling him that you've been accepted to college.
And not just any college, but Citadel.
But so far, you haven't had the courage to tell him instead that you won't go to any college. You just can't. You don't know what exactly you'll tell him and you don't want to face it yet. You don't want to see his disappointed face so you need more time.
So instead of dreams and aspirations, as well as preparing to live a college life, you prepare and focus on getting a job. You don't see employment as a bad thing either. You just wish you didn't have to focus on it right now.
You haven't talked to Aemond either. You haven't even seen him.
You're in some classes together. But you barely pay attention. Even though you used to notice his presence before and now, unconsciously, you ignore it. Now your mind is too busy with your worries.
It's like being in a disconnect. You are just there, existing. But you barely talk, barely react and barely do. You just want classes to end soon so you can go home.
Of course, he hasn't stopped trying.
He wants to talk to you, but you won't let him. You just don't want to have anything to do with him anymore. Even though you feel that emptiness he has left, you immediately force yourself not to think about it.
It's like pain and confusion mixed together, but your pride and that same pain makes you prefer to stay away.
You don't even care anymore what people say about him and you. It's obvious that the two of you are no longer in a 'relationship'. No one knows what happened and neither one of you is clarifying anything.
Which you are grateful for, so as not to feed the topic in the whole school.
Meanwhile, Alysanne and Cregan are almost always around you, trying to cheer you up and make you endure school better. You couldn't be more grateful for both of them either.
"So what are your plans for the weekend?"
Alysanne asks as the three of you are sitting on a bench in the outside courtyard. On the bench where you and Aemond made the fake relationship contract, precisely. But you try not to focus on that as the three of you eat lunch.
"We're going to the movies, did you forget already?" asks Cregan, confused.
"Huh? This weekend?"
"You forgot," he assures her.
"I didn't forget!" she lies, nervous.
"We agreed to go on Saturday. To the ten o'clock function for the horror movie."
Oh yes, the two of them are dating. Just as you and Aemond have 'broken up', so you try not to feel more distressed about it.
"Do you want to come, Y/N?"
You raise your gaze to Alysanne, confused, who gives you a smile.
"It's a date, isn't it? Just the two of you."
"We'll have more dates," she makes a nonchalant gesture.
Poor Cregan.
"Besides, it would do you good to clear your head a bit. So, what better than going to the movies? Right, Cregan?"
"Yeah, it'll do you good," he nods.
"No, thank you," you say softly, "I don't want to interfere with your dates. Besides, I'm not in the mood to go out. I'd rather stay home."
"You're not going to interfere with anything. Besides, you've stayed home enough days," she reproaches you, "Come on. Even one night. We'll have a great time."
"If you don't want to go to the movies, we can go somewhere else," Cregan proposes.
You grimace slightly.
"No, thank you. I..." you sigh, "I really appreciate it, guys. But I'd rather stay home."
Staying home to look for a proper job and plan to tell your dad you won't be going to college, like you've been doing for the past few days.
"Are you sure?" Alysanne looks at you not entirely convinced.
"Yeah," you shrug, "Don't worry about me."
"Of course I worry about you."
"You should focus on your date," you say as you give Cregan a meaningful look.
"Totally," Cregan nods, "In fact, she'll plan the next date."
"What?" she looks at him in horror.
"What you heard."
"And why me?"
"Because I always do."
Your talk with them doesn't last long as soon the bell rings and they head off to their respective classes, except for you, who has a free hour.
So you stand on the bench alone, just looking outside and nothing else, enjoying your lunch unhurriedly and in peace and quiet.
You let out a long breath and distract yourself for a few moments in your social networks, watching as some people post their reactions from when they were accepted to colleges. Everyone screams, smiles and cries of happiness with their families.
Except for others who quietly show how they were not accepted. But they open more emails and get accepted to other colleges.
You wish you were part of them.
You close those apps and go to Tiktok to distract yourself for a while by watching funny videos or storytimes.
When suddenly, you hear footsteps approaching behind you, which catches your attention. You turn your head, peeking over your shoulder and then you see him, Aemond.
He stops as soon as your eyes look directly into his, as if you've caught him in the act of robbery. Which reveals how very cautious he was being to approach and not scare you.
You see the uncertainty in his gaze, the insecurity and the wariness all at the same time. Which is rare for him, as he doesn't allow himself to look so vulnerable. But you understand why he's this way with you.
First you think about getting up and leaving him with the word in his mouth, like you've been doing lately. But for some reason, it's like finally your mind resigns and your body will force you to stay where you're sitting. And you don't even know why.
Or maybe it's because he's begging you with his gaze not to leave and listen to what he has to say after so many weeks.
Inevitably your nerves invade you and neither he nor you say anything for a few long seconds. He just stands still, as if testing the waters, waiting to see if you will move away from him again attentively.
Then he swallows hard and watches you with a sad but hopeful expression.
âCan I come closer?â
You press your lips together, think about it for a few seconds and finally give him a barely visible nod.
You turn your gaze to the front and begin to put your tupper with food in your backpack. While at the same time Aemond approaches you, cautious but firm. And surprised that you are allowing him to do this.
You let out a long breath and bring a hand to your hair, nervous, not knowing why.
Then he steps in front of you and only at that moment, you realize he has a folder in his hand. A folder that he sets down on the table in front of you, with smooth, cautious movements.
âI just came to drop this off for you. Nothing else.â
You raise your gaze to look at it confused for a moment, then look back down at the folder in front of you.
âIt's the paperwork you need to submit to finalize the scholarship process,â he says softly, âClasses start in two months and by now you should have received an email from the university with all the information as an incoming student.â
Wait, what?
Your mind immediately questions, as you frown more and feel your heart start to beat too fast.
âWhat are you talking about?â you ask in a low murmur, not understanding.
And Aemond lets out a long breath.
âI'm keeping my promise.â
His words echo steadily in your mind.
And you dare to raise your gaze to him again, confused, serious and incredulous. And what he does is lower his gaze, sorrowful and unsure. However⌠he is firm with what he is saying.
Then a tingle begins to run through your hands, at the same time as you feel the nervousness sweep through your body like a wave. You part your lips as you look at the folder in front of you and with trembling hands, you pick it up and open it.
The first thing you see is the university logo and an overwhelming sensation sweeps over your body and mind as you see what appears to be a letter addressed to you.
Miss. Y/N Y/L/N, Faculty of Law. Official documentation for the scholarship process.
You feel the air you were holding in your lungs slowly leave your mouth. And a huge weight that you felt in your chest is lifted, allowing you to rest and breathe properly.
At first, you think your mind is playing a joke on you. You think he's doing it. But⌠this is real. More real than you can imagine.
âI know I didn't do things the right wayâŚ
Aemond begins to speak, noticing the mix of shock and confusion in your gaze, breathing hard through your mouth.
âI know I took you for granted and that I hurt you,â he says softly, âBut that was never my intention, Y/N. I-I⌠I thought I would get everything under control. That I would work it out and get everything done on time. But, it's just⌠I don't even have justification.â
You feel tears begin to form in your eyes. But you control yourself. You bite the inside of your cheek and try not to let his words make you break down in tears.
As if the fact that you have in front of you one of the papers confirming and assuring you that you will finally go to the college of your dreams isn't enough.
âI should have acted sooner and looked for solutions. I should have been honest with you from the beginning. And you don't know how sorry I am,â he says softly and vulnerably, his gaze lowered, âI also don't expect you to forgive me for keeping a promise and asking for forgiveness. I know I fucked up and things can never go back to the way they were. But I just want you to knowâŚâ he takes a moment, "That I really did fall in love with you."
Fuck.
âWhat I felt for you was real. It was never a game or a pretense. I was just⌠afraid,â he admits, âAfraid of fucking up what we had. Afraid it would all fall apart if I told you the truth. But⌠I ruined everything,â he says with a resigned tone, âYou don't have to talk to me again either if you don't want to. You don't owe me anything. I just wanted to tell you the truth and let you know how sorry I am.â
Each word echoes in your mind, with the weight of his regret and his sincerity. You feel the tremble in your body, not helping the fact that you are still staring at the college sheet addressed to your name.
And you hold back, trying to calm the chaos being unleashed inside you by his words.
When he doesn't say anything else, you certainly won't and you both fall silent for a moment, as the weight of his words and the meaning of them fill the space. Until he speaks again.
âI won't bother you anymore,â he moves forward a bit back to the way he came, âBest of luck at Citadel. You deserve it, you really do,â he tells you with a small smile that is sad but genuine at the same time.
Then his figure disappears from your field of vision and you hear him start to walk away. And at that moment, the world seems to stop for you.
Unable to help yourself, you turn your head and watch him walk away with tears in your eyes. There is something in his walk, in that slight slope of his shoulders, that screams the burden he carries. And you don't know why, but⌠you want to call him, to tell him something that will ease the knot you both feel.
However, you know that won't fix anything.
You feel the air leave you, his words still echoing in your mind. You stare at the folder again, trying to remember what this achievement meant to you before this moment, before he came and stirred all the emotions in you.
You try to be strong, you try not to let this affect you more than it should, you think of the positive. But you can't.
So still in disbelief, excitement, sadness and with all your emotions mixed up, you take your phone, unlock it and open your emails app. And there, your most recent email, you read: Citadel University.
With your hands shaking, you press the email and read in slightly larger letters: Welcome to Citadel University! Miss Y/N, Y/L/N. Faculty of Law, Registration number: 31982.
Then, finally, you can't hold back the tears any longer and you put a hand to your mouth, letting them out, with confused and intense feelings coming over you.
Your father's loving and proud words, hugs and kisses make you smile.
It took you four days to finally break the news to him. And seeing him so happy, excited and proud, made you finally stop feeling so bad for even a moment. You also broke the news to Alysanne and Cregan, who were very happy for you.
Neither of them mentioned Aemond, which you appreciated. But there is the clear acknowledgement to him for making this possible.
You obviously left the job search behind and instead started contacting the university. You sent the missing and necessary documents, they sent you information about the scholarship, your schedule, classes and also about your dorm.
It's like finally this void in your chest is being filled as you finally see this all happening. And as you look at the pictures of the university, with old, elegant and modern architecture at the same time, that excitement rises in you.
However, what you feel is not happiness in its entirety.
In fact, you feel in the middle of a crossroads; joy is mixed with sadness. And the satisfaction of fulfilling the dream feels incomplete.
The worst part is that you know why.
But you don't think about it too much either. You don't want to. On the contrary, you force yourself to repeat over and over again that this was the plan all along. You force yourself to enjoy it and get excited.
You force yourself to think that what happened outside of getting into the college of your dreams was for a reason, but in the end you got what you really wanted.
But, deep down inside, you think about how you wish things could have been different.
At the same time, prom is just around the corner.
At first, you thought about not attending, but of course, Alysanne wouldn't let you think about it anymore. She dragged you with her to the dress store and sentenced that it will be a date of three, her, Cregan and you.
You tried to persuade her, to make her understand that Cregan only wants her as his date. But, of course, Cregan as the great friend he also is, told you it would be fun.
Certainly neither he nor you nor Alysanne have ever been on a three-way date and he told you; what better than to try it at the prom?
The prom preparations are done. Now the important thing is to turn in final projects and get rid of all the pending with the professors.
And that's what you're doing now.
With your headphones on and a notebook along with a book on your table, you're about to finish a long, boring project. When you notice how a figure suddenly obscures your workspace and you raise your gaze almost instantly, curious.
Helaena.
You remove your headphones, surprised to see her as she smiles softly at you.
âHi,â you say to her in a soft tone, putting your project aside for a moment.
âHi,â she says to you in the same soft tone, âI⌠am I interrupting you?â
âOh no,â you say nonchalantly, âI mean, yes, but I'm just about to finish it anyway. Don't worry.â
She looks at you a little unsure.
âAre you sure? It's just⌠I don't know,â she shrugs, 'It's been a while since we last talked and I didn't know if I could come up to you.â
Again you ignore the small sharp pain in your chest at the memory of Aemond and try to look like you're not at all affected by having his sister in front of you.
âYeah, wellâŚâ you try to smile a little, âThings have been⌠intense lately.â
She nods as she takes a seat across from you.
âSo it's official?â she asks you with a sad tone as she watches you with a sad little smile, âLike, I mean⌠you and my brother aren't coming back together?â
This time, the sharp pain in your chest is stronger and more persistent. As well as her question hits you like a wave.
How can you tell her that, in reality, everything you and Aemond had was false? That it was all part of an agreement?
The guilt begins to consume you as you see her face full of expectations and the worst thing is that it's not something you should tell her. That should be Aemond. But, still, you feel the urge to cry and you feel the need to finally tell her the truth, for the sake of everyone who made you believe the fake relationship.
âHelaenaâŚâ you begin, your voice barely a whisper, âI-I⌠need to be honest with you.â
You take a breath, expecting the worst and imagining a series of difficult emotions to deal with.
âThis whole thing between Aemond and I⌠it was fake,â you speak fearfully and sorrowfully, âWe were just⌠pretending for our own convenience. It wasn'tâŚâ you sigh, closing your eyes for a moment heavily, âIt wasn't real.â
You expected surprise, indignation, incredulity, anger, and more, all at the same time. But to your greatest surprise and bewilderment, she doesn't seem remotely surprised. Instead, she just smiles softly at you, full of understanding, as if she's been waiting for this moment for a long time.
âI already knew that,â she tells you in a serene tone that disarms you.
You feel your lungs hold all your air and you watch her completely stunned, surprised and confused with your parted lips. Then you blink, processing her words.
âWhat?â
âAemond told me everything the moment you set up your rules,â she replies calmly, âThe truth is, he never hides anything from me. He can't. So I already knew what you both were doing from the beginning.â
You continue to watch her in shock and disbelief, unable to believe it, trying to understand how she could have kept this to herself so naturally.
And in that moment, with disbelief and surprise beating in your chest, you realize that in every single conversation you had with her, right here at school, at parties, even at that family dinner that ended in disaster thanks to Aegon's drunkenness⌠she had always known.
âThough I don't always approve of his decisions, I understood why he did it⌠and why you did too.â
But your mind is still short-circuiting, processing and comprehending.
You relive in your mind every moment you went out of your way to pretend, believing you were fooling everyone, especially her. And yet, there's Helaena, looking at you with an expression of calm and empathy that completely disarms you.
âSo you knew?â you are able to formulate in asking in a breathy whisper.
She nods, smiling softly.
âEasy, only I knew.â
âAnd you're not upset?â you ask confused, still waiting for some sign of reproach.
âNot at all. On the contrary, I'm relieved,â she tells you honestly, âPeople made fun of Aemond after Alys. And, well, that left a mark on him. You know what rumors are like here.â
âOh, believe me I do.â
âAnd they made him miserable. It also didn't help at all that Alys was his first girlfriend and his first formal relationship but the two of them didn't love each other, it was just obsession and whim,â she says absurdly, "And with you, at least, he got some peace back, even if it was temporary."
âBut thenâŚâ you look at her blankly, âWhy did you ask me if we'll get back together?â
Helaena sighs, her gaze soft but intense.
âBecause in the end the two of you really fell in love. I saw you at Dragonstone and it was⌠too obvious.â
You remain silent, remembering those moments.
Both of you walking through those historical corridors, seeing and learning absolutely everything about old Valyria. Both holding hands, fascinated in the aquarium watching everything around or walking together on the shore of the beach, laughing, exchanging glances, hugging and kissing every now and then that everything felt too sincere to be pretending.
You relived every moment and every detail that you wished you could go back to when everything was fine.
Aemond had been different with you those days, a side of him that you had never seen and had thought only existed because of his performance in the fake relationship you had both agreed to.
But even you, being there, without the pressure to pretend, you felt the barriers fall between the two of you, because it was all real.
âHe fell in love with you, Y/N,â Helaena tells you sincerely, âYou⌠you did too?â
You feel a lump form in your throat and you let the question float in the air for a moment. The answer is so clear in your mind that it hurts; and yet, saying it out loud feels like breaking a promise you had made to protect yourself.
âYes, I did too,â you admit, sadness settling in your chest, "ButâŚ" you take a deep breath, watching her, âWhat happened with Floris even though it was a mistake⌠and then, the fact that he didn't tell me the truth about Citadel, it really hurt me.â
Helaena nods softly, not judging you, simply listening to you. And when she speaks, her tone is so serene and understanding that it comforts you.
âMy brother has this amazing ability to do things in the worst possible way,â she says with a small resigned smile, âFloris was a mistake. He was drunk and well, he told me that before that both of you have had a disagreement, although that doesn't justify it, I know. I'm just saying, it really was a mistake.â
Your mind momentarily flashes back to that moment, when you tried to end the fake relationship after the family dinner thing.
âAnd as for the Citadel thingâŚâ she pauses, searching for the right words, âHe freaked out, Y/N. He didn't know how to tell you without ruining everything. And I know that doesn't justify it either, butâŚâ she sighs, âHe was going to do whatever it took to hold up his part of the contract. He just didn't count on our grandfather suddenly getting difficult. Our family is already so fucked up as it is, that was the last thing he expected.â
Her words suddenly make you feel interested and curious about a specific topic you hadn't remembered until now. But Helaena continues to speak and you listen to her.
âEven though his method was disastrous, in his mind, he was protecting you,â she says, âAgain, I'm not justifying it. But I know he was desperate to get you that place at Citadel no matter what because he knew you deserved it. AndâŚâ she smiles at you with a gesture of resignation, "I think he loves you enough to do stupidly risky things. Even go against grandfather and act behind his back knowing how much trouble he could get into.â
You bite the inside of your cheek and feel a knot of emotions form in your chest. Everything she's telling you opens a door to feelings you'd tried to repress, to thoughts you'd rather bury.
You take a deep breath, remembering again those days at Dragonstone.
You relive every moment, when words were redundant and the silence between the two of you felt so full of meaning. He was always watching you in a way that seemed to say everything and nothing at the same time. He was slowly revealing that vulnerable part of himself that he seemed to have lost after Alys.
But as much as you want to think straight, your thoughts are a whirlwind of conflicting emotions. On the one hand, the pain of it all consumes you but on the other, there's the certainty of how you feel about him.
Even when you're hurting, you know you can't ignore it.
âI know he's still waiting, deep down, for maybeâŚâ Helaena pauses, âMaybe there's a chance for both of you.â
The expression on her face is so sincere and tender that you find it impossible not to believe her, and the thought fills you with a mixture of relief and pain. Because, despite everything, you still love him, and that truth is impossible to deny.
âI don't know,â you confess, biting your lips and feeling your eyes water, âI-IâŚI don't know what to do. I mean, we're already graduating. We'll go to the same college but I doubt we'll see each other, you know? And I just⌠n-no⌠I don't knowâŚ.
âHey, hey,â Helaena tells you instantly, âIt's okay. We don't have to talk about this anymore. I didn't want to overwhelm you or burden you, I just wanted to tell you my opinion and for you to talk to someone in case you needed to,â she tells you softly, comfortingly, âStill, it's something between the two of you and we can talk about anything else.â
You thank her with a relieved look, her gesture of empathy appearing as she watches you with her soft, understanding expression. And then, she speaks with a more casual tone, changing the subject with a lightness that relieves you a bit.
âYou have everything ready for graduation? Are you bringing a date?â
âHum⌠yes, I already have everything ready,â you nod, âAnd no, I'll go with my two friends. I think you met them, Alysanne and Cregan.â
âOh yes! I know them,â she says with a smile, âAnd I'm going with a friend too. I don't really like the idea of everything being so formal, so going with a friend will make it all more fun.â
Both are silent for a few moments, and although the conversation has taken on a lighter tone, you feel there's still a question trapped in your chest. And at the memory of that day, an impulse prompts you to speak before you can stop yourself.
âHelaena,â you call her softly, "I⌠can I ask you something?" you ask almost in a whisper, lowering your gaze a little, hesitating.
She watches you curiously and nods without hesitation.
âYeah, sure.â
âHumâŚâ you stir in your seat, âThat night, at dinner, Aegon said something⌠about your dad not caring about you. What did he mean by that?â
She immediately looks like she wasn't expecting that question at all, which immediately makes you regret it, but then she softens her whole gaze, not looking at all uncomfortable or upset.
âOh, well⌠our dadâŚâ she begins to speak, choosing her words precisely, âWell, he was always very neglectful with us. He always left all the work to mom to take care of us, even when she had to work too so she wasn't totally dependent on him,â she explains, âIt was chaos for a long time. Aegon and I lost years of education because of his lack of commitment.â
âReally?â you look at her attentively and surprised.
âHe missed the date to register us for kindergarten in our proper time. He always forgot our birthdays or some important date. But, of course, that never happened to him with our older stepsister, Rhaenyra.â
You remember Aemond mentioning her, though not much.
âAnd you don't talk to her?â
âYes, of course,â she says with a small smile, âShe was never at blame. In fact, by comparison, she always took us into account and never forgot our existence,â she explains, âAnd well, eventually mom divorced him. And the only good thing dad did in the end was to mention us and give us parts of his inheritance in his will.â
Helaena's sincerity and calmness in sharing this about her life surprises you and, at the same time, makes you understand the complicated family history behind them. Now it's no wonder why Aegon was so angry to bring up the subject of parents.
Nor do you ignore the connection you begin to feel towards them, obviously because of your mother and her abandonment.
âIt must have been very difficult, for everyone,â you murmur, âI'm sorry to hear that.â
She nods, though her expression doesn't reflect bitterness, but something akin to mature acceptance.
âYes, but that made us strong,â she says with a slight smile, "Aegon was the one who resented his absence the most, as you could see," she tells you knowingly, âYou know, being the eldest and all. But we're more⌠happy now, now that he's gone,â she confesses.
You let out a long breath, watching her with compassion.
âThank you for telling me. I didn't mean to intrude, really.â
âNo, it's fine, it really doesn't affect me,â she assures you softly, âAfter that Aegon scene at dinner, it's valid you know. So don't worry.â
You both smile softly at each other, expressions warm and sincere, falling silent. When Helaena stands up, slinging her backpack over her shoulder.
âWellâŚâ she says, letting out a slight sigh, adjusting her backpack, âI should be going now. I also have projects to finish.â
âSure,â you nod, âThanks for coming and talking to me.â
âOh, there's nothing to thank you for. Anytime. I'll see you later, okay?â
âOkay.â
You both say goodbye and you watch her walk away in the direction of the main building, her silver hair shining in the sunlight, as you let out a long breath and put your headphones back in.
Prom.
You really don't understand what you're doing here. But it's all Alysanne's doing, like the makeup, hairstyle and dress.
You get out of Cregan's car with a beautiful lilac metallic dress on. Finding it wasn't hard at all, since it was like love at first sight, especially since it has a princess cut. And upon measuring it, Alysanne also decided that it was the one.
The hairstyle was also easy, after all, you didn't want anything too voluminous or too fancy. So a wavy style in your hair with a crown of silver flowers at the crown of your head was the perfect touch.
Alysanne on the other hand chose a beautiful wine colored dress that flatters her at every angle, deciding to gather her hair with two strands falling on either side of her face, making her look absolutely elegant and gorgeous.
And once all three of you are ready, Cregan dressed in an impeccable dark suit, offers you both his arms and you enter the grand ballroom of the luxurious hotel together.
The ballroom is illuminated by the typical disco balls hanging from the high ceiling, casting silver and white sparkles that create an almost magical atmosphere.
The decor is elegant and subtle, with centerpieces of fresh flowers and candles giving each table a touch of romantic charm.
You feel a mixture of nerves and excitement as you enter, as if it's all part of a dream. After all, it is your prom and tonight symbolizes a chapter you are about to close, your high school years.
The dance floor is in the center, surrounded by tables in a circle and already some of the guests have started to dance, getting lost in the rhythm of the soft music that fills the atmosphere thanks to the DJ.
Although not only disco balls light up the place, but also some colored lights to make the atmosphere more colorful.
If someone had told you in your freshman year everything that was going to happen in your final year, you would have laughed out loud and wouldn't have believed it at all, because your life was too boring.
But here you are, with still those events in mind, where at the end of the night, you will put them behind you.
You adjust your lilac dress, whose princess-cut skirt falls in soft layers to the floor. The fabric moves with you, as if it were an extension of your own footsteps, and the color shimmers delicately under the silver lights.
The three of you make your way to one of the tables to take a seat and you take a closer look around you as the decorations and you also see familiar faces of some of your classmates, some laughing in groups and others on the dance floor with their dates.
And Alysanne, excited and obsessed with everything, wants to have memories of the whole night and soon the three of you are taking a long selfie session with her phone.
Cregan complains about too many photos and the laughter of the three fills the air as Alysanne continues to make sure she captures the best shots, changing angles and poses.
Alysanne, with a huge smile, spins around on herself and then grabs your hands to dance with her, laughing every time you both take a step out of rhythm. You can feel her pure happiness, an excitement that doesn't take long to become contagious and where Cregan soon joins in.
The dance floor is filling up and the sparkles of the lights reflecting off everyone's costumes and dresses create an enchanting and magical atmosphere.
The DJ starts mixing more upbeat songs, and you see how everyone is having fun, laughing and dancing.
Immediately this catches Alysanne's attention and she drags the three of you onto the dance floor with infectious laughter. Before you know it, you're in the middle of the dance floor with them, surrounded by movement and music.
The music beats on the floor and vibrates in your chest, and, slowly, you begin to let loose, moving to the beat of the songs as the colored lights swirl above you all.
âI'm going to get a drink!â you let them both know over the music.
You have no idea exactly how much time passes that you find yourself dancing, enjoying the night, the echo of laughter and the warmth of the crowd.
The euphoria makes you forget and enjoy yourself as you feel your throat dry and your feet start to ache, with your body starting to beg for water and a little break.
âOkay!â Cregan nods, throwing you a smile, still dancing with Alysanne.
You smile knowingly, since after all, these two deserve to have their moment, and you walk away towards the table where there are different desserts and the drinks for all the graduates.
You take a bottle of water, and as you drink, the immediate relief makes you close your eyes for a moment, enjoying the coolness.
And only at that moment, standing alone and a little apart, you notice the glances of some people around you, mainly girls passing by you and whispering something between them, looking at you out of the corner of their eyes.
Great.
You thought you were past all this but even at prom it doesn't stop.
You take a deep breath and look out onto the dance floor, where you make out Alysanne and Cregan dancing close together, smiling and animated. You certainly don't want to interrupt them and you look around again, trying to distract yourself with anything you can find to rest your feet on.
You try not to make a big deal of it and look back at them for just a few moments with a serious look on your face and again try to focus on regaining your energy, telling yourself that this shouldn't affect you.
You remind yourself that you are here for you and your friends, and that is all that should matter to you.
When your gaze unconsciously focuses on Floris.
With her arm intertwined with a boy, whom you recognize from the lacrosse team, she looks absolutely elegant with a beautiful hairstyle and a gorgeous pink dress.
And as she joins the party, she seems totally focused on enjoying the evening, her expression relaxed and happy.
You look away from her, focused on something else, where your attention slips unintentionally to Alys, surrounded by her friends.
In the distance, suddenly her gaze meets yours and you quickly look away, not knowing why but⌠you really don't want to deal with or care about those people anymore.
She's wearing dark makeup and a sensual emerald green dress that completely clings to her body and highlights her curves. She looks completely beautiful, but knowing her attitude and behavior, it makes her lose her charm.
You watch Helaena for a few more seconds, her energy lighting up the dance floor, when suddenly, a tall, familiar figure catches your attention on the other side of the room in the crowd.
Instead, you focus on Helaena, who you find among all the people dancing, getting carried away by the atmosphere and in the company of the friend who told you.
Her silver hair is swaying to the music and she shines in the middle of everyone in that beautiful sky blue dress and gold accessories, looking absolutely gorgeous.
Aemond is standing a few feet away, talking to Aegon, both looking absolutely handsome for the evening. Then, the atmosphere around you seems to fade a bit and he's the only one who catches your eye in the middle of the crowd.
And that mixture of emotions about him rises in your chest again.
You take a closer look at who is around him and it is only Aegon. You don't see any girl hanging on his arm or anything, so apparently he has come unaccompanied, just like you.
He is dressed in a dark suit that highlights his slender figure and impeccable posture, just like Aegon. The silver light of the disc balls bring out his silver hair and his face so perfectly detailed, giving it a glow that is almost unreal to you.
Your gaze lingers on him longer than you had anticipated. From a distance, you can notice the lack of expressions on his face and the small twitch of his lips as he speaks to Aegon, looking around him without really showing any emotion.
That eye contact takes the air out of you. The memory of all the things you shared, the conversations, the looks, the touching and kissing⌠it all comes over you.
And at that very moment, as if sensing the weight of your attention, Aemond looks up and sees you beyond the crowd, apart and alone. The visual connection is instantaneous, almost electric, and suddenly you feel all the people and bustle around you fade away.
You can't deny the attraction and deep affection that, even now, beat intensely in your chest. And, for an instant, you wonder if he too feels the same mix of nostalgia and sadness in the midst of it all.
You notice how he looks you up and down, lingering on every detail of what you're wearing today, his eyes shining, filled with a kind of wary hope and longing, completely stealing your breath.
Then, his body language tells you he's getting ready to move. Coming at you, with her determined gaze.
Oh God.
A sense of panic invades every part of your body. And before he can do anything, you look away and quickly make your way to the dance floor, blending into the crowd, heading towards your friends.
The music booms in your ears and your thoughts are in complete chaos, hitting you one after the other.
Closing your eyes for a moment, you tell yourself that you just want to enjoy the night, to stop thinking about him and what was, even if it's only for a few hours.
So time passes, the energy of the dance becomes more relaxed, and though you manage to avoid crossing paths directly with Aemond, his presence seems to haunt your mind like a lingering ghost, one that doesn't dissipate with the music or the bright lights.
You look around from time to time, and out of the corner of your eye you notice that he also seems to avoid being too close to you, although you can't help thinking that maybe he is also looking for you in the crowd, as you are looking for him.
Until, finally, the atmosphere immediately changes.
The lights dim and the silver and warm tones transform the room into an intimate place. Couples begin to approach the dance floor, holding hands, to dance to the slow songs. And you decide it's the perfect time to take a break.
You smile at Cregan and Alysanne, giving them another moment again, feeling a twinge of tenderness and, at the same time, unexpected loneliness.
You take a seat at one of the nearby tables, watching as the dance floor fills with couples slowly swaying to the music.
Dresses and suits intertwine, and for a moment, you let yourself be enveloped by the warmth of the atmosphere, allowing yourself to feel invisible in the midst of all that harmony.
You watch Floris dancing with that boy, Alysanne with Cregan of course, and Helaena dancing with her friend, both with amused smiles and talking softly without taking the slow dance so seriously. You also see Aegon dancing very close with a girl.
And as your eyes wander around the dance floor, your gaze focuses again on his figure, which seems just as lonely as yours.
A few tables away, Aemond sits alone, surveying the dance floor with an expression you fail to fully decipher. His fingers drum on the rim of his glass, and, for a moment, he seems lost in his own thoughts. He looks calm, almost vulnerable.
You stare at him longer than you think and sigh, averting your gaze, and as the seconds pass, the urge to stand still and do nothing begins to fade.
You bite the inside of your cheek and begin to move your foot up and down rapidly, feeling your heart begin to beat too fast. You watch all the people dancing again, hesitating.
Then you let out a long breath and without knowing exactly why, you take a deep breath and stand up. With slow steps, a momentum and a calmness you try to maintain, you head towards him.
As you get closer, you notice how his gaze, which was lost on the dance floor, suddenly focuses on you, noticing before out of the corner of his eye your approaching figure. Surprise and bewilderment mixed with something else appears in his gaze and you stop in front of him, nervous but determined.
Then neither of you say anything for a few moments. The same nerves make you unable to speak and the two of you just stand there, watching each other.
You feel how some people around you suddenly have their attention focused on both of you, waiting for what you will do, but you don't even pay attention to them. You just focus completely on him.
Until you sigh.
"Do you dance?" you ask softly and nervous.
The words seem to break the spell, and Aemond blinks, clearly surprised and somehow confused.
You watch the expression on his face, as if he's processing every word you've just said, looking for some hint of doubt or change of heart in your expression.
"S-sure," he says still confused, not expecting this at all.
There's a mix of emotions in his eyes, confusion, surprise and nervousness, something you wouldn't have expected to see in him. And you, not wanting to drag this out any longer than necessary, extend your hand to him.
He watches your face attentively and then your hand, still surprised, to finally take it gently. His fingers intertwine with yours, sending an electricity throughout your body through his touch as he stands up.
You swallow hard, feeling your heart beating like crazy and nervousness invading your whole system. And without another word, you both head for the dance floor.
Then, everything around you fades away, the murmurs and laughter, even the music itself becomes a distant whisper, and only he remains, next to you.
He places a hand on your waist, his touch delicate, as if he doesn't want to do anything that could break this fragile instant. You take his other hand, intertwining it with yours and as you both begin to move to the rhythm of the music, you feel how a mixture of emotions floods each of your senses.
Aemond watches you, his eyes fixed on yours and with a nervous little smile on his lips, as if he can't believe this is really happening.
The music moves forward, slow, allowing you to glide in front of each other. As his steps synchronize with yours, the movements become smooth and natural.
And in a moment you realize that you both are completely absorbed in each other, as if nothing and no one could interrupt this bubble that surrounds you.
Finally, Aemond breaks the silence, his voice barely audible over the music and shy, watching you with a gleam in his eye.
"You look beautiful."
He says to you, his words so sincere and emotionally charged that you feel a surge of warmth wash over you.
You wish his words didn't make you melt. But they do. And everything about him, every gesture, his closeness, the firm, protective touch of his hand on your waist, the way he holds you, as if you were something precious and delicate, envelops and intoxicates you.
"Thank you," you reply, feeling a soft smile appear on your lips, "You too... you look very handsome."
He smiles, marking the dimples on either side of his cheeks.
"I wasn't expecting you to come over," he admits, his eyes revealing something between vulnerability and surprise.
The tone of his voice, so soft and honest, makes you feel a warmth you haven't experienced in a long time.
"I didn't know I would," you reply with a barely perceptible smile, "But I thought, maybe... I don't want to spend the night running away," you confess.
He nods, not looking away.
"I didn't want it to be like that either."
His hand on your waist pulls you slightly closer to him with a firm movement and the slight brush makes you aware of the closeness between the two of you.
You feel your thoughts cloud over and you let yourself become more enveloped by him, unable to help it.
His chin brushes your forehead and you feel that at any moment your heart will jump out of your chest. It's an insistent, powerful beat that seems to resonate with every breath you take at his side.
Then, Aemond lowers his voice, his tone becoming softer, almost melancholy, as if his words are a secret shared only between the two of you.
"I was going to ask you if you wanted to be my date that day, you know? When I gave you the folder.
"I was going to ask you if you wanted to be my date that day, you know, when I gave you the folder," he confesses, with a certain melancholy tone, "But I knew it wouldn't be fair to ask you that and I really didn't want to hurt you anymore."
The sincerity in his tone pierces you, and you feel your own barriers begin to crumble. You listen to him with your heart pounding, absorbing every word.
Aemond sighs and his fingers tighten slightly at your waist.
"And a moment ago, when I saw you so perfect and so beautiful in this dress... I realized how much I wished I had walked through those doors with you on my arm," he says with a longing and sadness.
The music continues to envelop you and you feel his confession reverberate through you, intensifying every sensation, every emotion.
The strength of his words, of the connection that has been created between the two of you in the middle of this song, makes the air seem thick and charged with meanings that don't need to be explained.
Then you raise your gaze to him and you both stare at each other in silence, where your words seem to get caught in your throat.
His eyes roam over your face, as if he wants to remember every detail, as if he wants to take this moment with him. There is a sadness and a softness in his gaze that you haven't seen before, and it makes something in your chest tighten.
And again his voice breaks through the soft silence that envelops you.
"I'm sorry... for everything," he says barely a whisper, laden with a sincerity that resonates deeply.
His fingers trace slow circles on your back, small gestures that seem to try to comfort you and to comfort him too. The contact between the two of you is firm and warm, and yet, you feel as if Aemond fears that at any moment this could disappear.
For a moment, the music seems to fade, leaving only your heartbeat and the echo of his voice in the air.
You feel the urge to speak, to say something that would ease the vulnerability on his face, but you find it difficult to organize your thoughts.
Instead, you opt for a simple but meaningful gesture. You propel yourself a little towards him and leave a soft kiss on his cheek, then rest your head on his chest and gently inhale his expensive cologne, being comforting enough for you.
"It's okay," you murmur.
He lets out a sigh of relief, mixed with longing and makes his grip on your waist tighter, not wanting to let go. Then, he leaves a soft kiss on the crown of your head, resting his head on yours as you both continue to sway gently to the music.
"Thank you for giving me this dance," he murmurs.
You place a soft, small smile on your lips, then raise your gaze to his, watching him with nothing but fondness.
He continues to watch you with that softness and one of his hands goes up to your cheek. In a delicate, almost fearful touch, his thumb runs over your skin in a gesture that is both protective and vulnerable.
Then he rests his forehead against yours and you both close your eyes, as you lean into him.
You both fall silent, letting the slow rhythm of the music carry you away, allowing the moment to linger, in a fragile and honest peace.
You feel that you could stay like this, in this bubble of time and silence, without the need for words, because, in this instant, you both understand what has been said and what doesn't need to be said.
The song changes to another slow one and you both lose yourselves in the moment, enjoying it, not wanting it to end.
Time seems to stand still as you dance together, moving slowly and leisurely, as if nothing and no one else exists. The sounds of the party fade around you, leaving only the beating of your hearts and the faint brush of your breaths.
Your eyes close as you let go, feeling his hand on your back and the warmth his body gives off, so close and so full of meaning.
You both breathe in sync, your foreheads resting against each other, your eyes closed as the moment stretches out and becomes more than just a dance.
This instant is a truce, a refuge where everything else, the doubts, the pain, the past, is suspended and what follows is moving forward.
"You've got everything ready to go to college?"
His voice breaks the silence softly, barely a murmur, as if afraid to disturb the peace around you both.
"Yeah," you murmur, nodding.
"What are you traveling there on?"
"Well, I was checking with my dad about bus and plane ticket prices. But I still haven't made up my mind," you admit, remembering discussions about which was the safest and cheapest option.
Aemond nods, thoughtfully. Then, after a brief pause, he speaks with calm assurance.
"I can take you."
You look at him instantly surprised, definitely not expecting that.
"What?"
"I can take you," he repeats, sure of his words, "Well, sure, if you want," he hastens to clarify, "After all, we're going to the same place and I'll make the trip in my car," he explains, "There's plenty of room for your bags along with mine and so you won't have to spend on a ticket. Besides, it would be safer and I think, I don't know, you'd be more comfortable."
You remain silent, trying to assimilate what he has just said. There is something in his words, in the slow and sincere tone, that strikes a deep chord in you.
The idea of making the trip together, of sharing that important moment of departure, of having one last time alone before facing a new life, awakens a mix of emotions that are difficult to describe.
He lowers his gaze for a moment, nervous, clarifying in a low voice.
"It's just a suggestion... something I thought might make things easier for you. You don't have to do it if you don't want to."
Your heart pounds, and somehow, the simplicity of his offer, the naturalness with which he cares for you, causes a warm surge of gratitude and affection to wash over you.
"Can you really do that for me?" you ask quietly, with a little smile you can't help.
"Sure," he says absurdly softly, as if it weren't obvious, "But only if you want me to. I don't want to force you. It's just an option."
You look up at him, holding his gaze for a second that seems like forever, and nod slowly, allowing the feeling of relief and closeness to wash over you.
"I'd love to," you whisper, your voice barely a murmur, "Thank you."
The shadow of a smile tugs at his lips, and you can see the relief in his expression.
"No need to thanks."
Without another word, Aemond pulls you a little closer to him and again the two of you bring your foreheads together, letting the moment lengthen as the music changes to another slow rhythm.
You both remain like that, moving in silence and enjoying the moment, spending the last moment of your high school lives together, to start college together.
"Are you ready?"
Aemond watches you from the driver's seat, his hands resting calmly on the steering wheel with a small smile on his face.
The car is already loaded with suitcases for both of you and you nod, taking a deep breath to calm the emotions fluttering in your chest.
The thought of heading off together towards this new stage causes a mixture of nerves and excitement to wash over you, though a part of you also feels comforted by Aemond's presence at your side.
"Yes," you reply, adjusting your belt.
You watch him and he gives you one last knowing look before putting the car in move.
Saying goodbye to your dad was difficult, but it was something you were both already preparing for and you knew that moment would come.
Besides, he met Aemond, as your friend who will do you the favor of driving you to college and nothing more. And your dad felt safer with that instead of taking the plane or bus alone.
Especially after Aemond promised him countless times that he would take care of you at all times.
The road is serene at first, and Aemond turns on the radio, letting a soft melody fill the comfortable silence between them.
The roads stretch out in front of you, long and exciting, as the landscape changes shape and the kilometers pass, leaving behind the city where you experienced so much.
From time to time, you exchange glances, small comments about the places you see and the expectations each has for the university.
Aemond seems especially careful, attentive to every sign on the road and every change in your expression, as if he wants to make sure you are comfortable and at ease.
And he especially notices a change in your expression.
"Is something bothering you?" he asks you, his voice low but close, filling the space in a comforting way.
You watch him and after some hesitation, you shrug.
"I guess it makes me a little nervous not knowing what to expect," you admit, "This whole new stage... the idea of being alone in a new place."
Aemond nods, understanding what you mean, his eyes fixed on the road.
"I guess it's normal," he tells you softly, "It's almost obligatory to feel this way, but, for what it's worth... you won't be completely alone."
His gaze meets yours for a second before he turns back to the road.
"I'm going to be around if at any time you need anything or anything happens, anything at all."
You feel a warmth settle in your chest, and a part of your nerves seem to fade. The idea of him being there, close by, offering you that closeness, gives you a strange sense of relief.
"Thank you, Aemond," you murmur with a small smile.
He smiles, marking a dimple in his cheek, and turns his eyes to the front.
The ride continues, where the atmosphere in the car becomes more and more comfortable, chatting about small details, expectations, and the occasional joke that makes you both laugh comfortably.
And finally, as the two enter the town of Oldtown and the university looms in the distance, Aemond slows down, looking at the campus that would soon become his home.
"There it is," he says, a slight excitement in his voice.
The same excitement rubs off on you and excitedly, you take his hand, intertwining it with yours, excited and hopeful.
Hopeful that all that is to come for you in this place are good and promising things. As well as hopeful for Aemond and for you.

@zepskies
Oh goodness I am so excited to finally being able to read part two!
Alright it is devastating right off the bat and I know, I know I should be worried about her and I am. I am SO worried, but my mind completely went somewhere else when Dean PICKED HER UP. The man is so strong and I am just...
âI hope youâve learned your damn lesson,â he says. Your gaze snaps up to his. âExcuse me?â Deanâs hands go to his hips as his brows raise at you. âNext time, when I tell you to hang back, I mean that shit. Hang the hell back,â he all but growls.Â
I was prepared for this coming but dang... "I hope you've learned your damn lesson" is a line that breaks my heart more than I should. It cuts to the quick for me, because to me it's worse than just saying "I told you not to do something." It's not heartless, but it's enough of a rendition of it that it just makes you go "oh wow."
And oh my word the two lines from Dean when she got mad KILLED ME. The:
"What's this, some kind of Latina temper?" he asks snidely.
AND
"Oh, I'm sorry, does this telenovela-style tongue lashing come with subtitles?" he snarks.
I was literally screaming. It's like he wants her to kill him. I know that Dean loves her so much but oh my goodness it's about to get so real for him. Man is about to be torn to shreds.
You wear it over some long pajama pants instead of your usual shorts, or better yet, nothing at all. But he can see what kind of mood youâre in. Things are unsettled as you both get ready for bed in silence. He notes the way you turn to face the other side in bed, maybe to avoid him. Though if you really wanted to do that, you couldâve gone to your old room. So in more ways than one, Dean takes some solace in the fact that youâre still next to him. And he decides to give you some time and space. He goes to bed and tries in vain to sleep.
Oh sweetie pie, Dean you're an idiot, but we love our little idiot even when he loses his temper because he cares so much. This part really got to me, because at first I was like "oh why would she stay with him in his room," but I get it. Even though she's upset, Dean is still her best friend and the man she loves and even though he's the one that made her feel this way, she still wants to be comforted by his presence. I always think that, this particular thing is so bittersweet to read about in relationships.
Or at least that's how I took this bit đ
.
Side note: I am happy that the reader didn't have to tell the woman about her son. That would have broken me to read that especially after the reader promised that they would find her son in part one.
It startles a shriek of surprise out of you as you whirl around. Deanâs smile hikes up into a grin, but it soon fades when he remembers the way your scream rang through his ears last night. The way his heart dropped into his stomach, and his head swiveled at the sound. And he saw you go down hard. Then the rest of it tumbles through his mindâwhat he had to do afterwards in order to save you. How heâd did it without really thinking, his panic and determination blocking out almost everything else when heâd grabbed the kid. The monster, he forcibly reminds himself.Â
Oh my word. I love you friend, but WHY!? Dang it, this pricked at my heart. It's so good, so heart wrenching. I feel so bad for him, but it really just reinforces why he "lost it" with the reader earlier. Goodness the trope of the reader getting yelled at by someone who loves them about putting themselves in danger really is just such a good one for Dean and you do it so well.
His apology is really just pricking at my heart. It's so good, so forthcoming so honest. And the thought that he was "better off alone" is so on brand for him. I know that we've talked about that before, but it really does fit him, and I love how you weave it into this fic.
You realize then what Deanâs really saying. Heâs afraidâŚafraid to lose you. You see it in his furrowed brows, the downturn of his lips, and whatever pain heâs trying to hide in the depths of his eyes. And just like that, the water works start. You canât quite keep your tears at bay as you hold onto his shirt. He lets out a resigned sigh as he holds you by your arms. âYou donât have to cry for that,â he says, a bit teasing. âHave you met me?â you sniff. But you manage to look up at him with your glassy eyes. âIâm sorry too. God, Iâm so sorry, Dean.âÂ
She's crying... I'm crying. It's really just tears all around and such a good moment. Also the him saying "You don't have to cry for that"... YES SHE DOES.
This is just overall a really wonderful vulnerable moment that you've captured that feels real for both the reader and Dean. Especially when she talks about "working with my heart, not my head." I think that if it were me, I would also be "working with my heart." I don't think that I'd be able to take myself emotionally out of the situation that they're in all the time because they're hunters.
The problem is, you didnât just see your own mother in Rachel. She hadnât been much older than you. And when you imagine a life beyond hunting, more than anything (no matter how much you shove down the idea), you really do want a family of your own someday.Â
Hoping for some FORESHADOWING đđťđ
Also the salsa lesson is just so cute. And the way you took a really emotional moment to a cute salsa dance to a steamy session to a giggly awkward moment is great. The transitions make it seamless.
And the song choices were perfect! When the reader was describing what the song meant I was like, "oh yeah, that's him right there. There's the man officer." lmao đ¤Ł
Often heâs one to leave love bites of varying degrees, wherever he sees fit. But for a moment he stops at the crook of your neck, just pressing a lingering kiss. He lets out a deep breath, and you realize heâs probably thinking about where you were bitten. The wound is gone, but it doesnât change whatâs imprinted in both of your minds.  A softer smile grows on your face. You trail your fingers up into his hair, massaging the back of his neck. âIâm okay,â you remind him. Dean hums deep in agreement. You know, however, that heâs still thinking far too much.
I was again so emotional reading this, because oh my word, poor Dean just reliving the moments where the reader almost died.
And also the final scene đđśď¸ I should have known from the gif at the beginning tbh lol.
ESPECIALLY THIS LINE:
âWhat, now youâre shy?â he remarks. And he has to laugh. âCome back here.â
I don't know why that wiped me out after everything tbh.
Not to mention that the sex was also giggly towards the end and I really just love that. And the love confessions KNOCKED ME OUT.
I love you, youâd said. I love you and I love you, more than you can believe and understand.Â
Oh I'm riding a train of emotions, and all of this was so good. Especially Sam walking in on them. I was laughing so hard at Dean's reaction:
âAll right, Sammy. Go to your room,â he chides playfully (but he means it). âThe adults are havinâ a moment.â
It's all wonderful my friend! And I can't wait to read another fic from this universe! đ

Part 2: "Telenovela Style"
Your resulting scream of agony is as unforgiving as the ground when your knees buckle, hitting the hard cement.
Andy grips you with the strength of a monster.Â
Then he holds you down as he drinks your blood.Â
No matter how you struggle and whimper, you canât push him off, and youâre getting weaker by the second.
Until Andy is ripped away from your neck, and is taken care of the way all vampires must be. He doesnât even feel the blade coming.Â
When youâre able to look up, Dean stands above you with thinly veiled fury. He doesnât have time to consider what heâs just done.Â
He bends to gather you up into his arms, all the while trying to stamp down the panic clenching his heart. He calls your name, but you can only make weak sounds as your bleary eyes meet his.Â
âDean,â you manage. The ragged wound in your neck is bleeding profusely down your chest and shoulder, seeping into your shirt. He takes your hand and clamps it hard against your neck, even though it makes you whimper.
âGotta stop the bleeding,â he says, apologetic but firm. âKeep pressing.â
In your stupor of pain, you donât realize that your screech woke the entire nest. Dean has to lock up his worry; he looks up and finds his brother and Cas already fighting a hoard of angry vampires.Â
Dean carries you over to them and lays you down against the wall with the other humans. He keeps a protective line in front of you, but he decapitates a vampire before she can sink her fangs into Sam next.
The two of them work together, and with Castielâs smiting power behind them, the angel and the two men are able to clear the rest of the nest.Â
By the end, only you and two of the women being held captive are still alive. The third girlâs heart just finally gave out. Sam takes the survivors to the nearest hospital.Â
Meanwhile, Castiel approaches where you sit up against the inside of the barn, barely awake, while Dean kneels with you, holding you to his chest. He meetâs Casâs blue-eyed request with a nod. So Cas stretches out a hand and touches two fingers to your forehead.Â
Youâre healed in an instant. Dean marvels, like he always does when Cas displays his power. Dean is able to breathe a little easier, the vice grip on his heart easing as he touches your neck.
The tan skin is once again smooth, if still stained with blood. You blink back into wakeful consciousness.Â
He shifts so he can see your face. âYou okay?âÂ
You meet his eyes but can only nod. His jaw is still tight and tense, and you canât blame him.Â
You know youâve messed up. Big time. You nearly got everyone killed, including yourselfâŚand now, you have to tell a mother that her son is dead.Â
Dean helps you up, holding you by your arms and waist until youâre steady on your feet. You have a hard time meeting his eyes, but when open your mouth to apologize, he beats you to it.Â
âI hope youâve learned your damn lesson,â he says.Â
Your gaze snaps up to his. âExcuse me?â
Deanâs hands go to his hips as his brows raise at you.Â
âNext time, when I tell you to hang back, I mean that shit. Hang the hell back,â he all but growls.Â
You tilt your head at him as your irritation begins to spark. Meanwhile, Castiel is the one who backs up as he glances between you and Dean uncertainly.
âI made a mistake, but that doesnât give you the right to tell me what to do,â you shoot back. âI was a hunter long before I met you.âÂ
âYeah, well, color me surprised that youâve made it this long,â he snaps.Â
Your temper flares hotter. âYou know, youâre not so goddamn perfect either.âÂ
âNever said I was,â Dean says. âBut when my gut tells me something ainât right, I need you to fucking listen. Otherwise, we get a day like today.â
His words are edged with grit by the end of his little rant, and you donât appreciate it. Your lips purse in anger.
âI donât care what that legendary gut tells you,â you sass back. âIâm not a little girl, and youâre not my damn father!â
Dean raises incredulous brows at the way youâre shouting at him. He crosses his arms.Â
âWhatâs this, some kind of Latina temper?â he asks snidely.Â
You truly become incensed at that.Â
âOh, you want to take it there?â you ask, as your eyes narrow. âQue sin vergĂźenza tĂş eres. Sigue jodiendo conmigo, coĂąo. Entonces tĂş vas a ver quien soy yo.â
Dean wonât admit it, but in that moment, heâs a bit intimidated by the quiet threat in your voice. Still, his fuse is lit, and heâs way beyond curbing his internal filter.
âOh, Iâm sorry, does this telenovela-style tongue lashing come with subtitles?â he snarks.Â
You let out an incredulous breath. Your eyes begin to sting.
âYouâre such an asshole!â you shout back. There, understand that?
You turn away from him before your frustrated tears can fall, but you stop short once you notice Castiel dragging out the bodies of the deadâŚincluding Andy. Your throat constricts, and you begin to stalk out of the barn.Â
Dean calls your name in frustration.Â
âWhat?â you hiss.Â
The only thing that makes him hesitate is seeing the state of you when you turn back around. His anger crumbles, and maybe something in him breaks when he sees your tears. Theyâve welled up in your eyes, and a few of them carve a path down your cheeks.Â
Youâre still covered in your own blood, and he hates it. He hates it more than anything.Â
Later, you see the state of yourself when Sam returns with the Impala. In the reflection on the backseat window, you see the blood dried down your neck, staining nearly half of your shirt.
You see the black rings of your mascara and eyeliner around your eyes. You look a mess, and you try to wipe underneath your eyes. Itâs a fruitless effort.
After you all finish burning the bodies, Dean starts the long drive home. You insist on stopping to tell Rachel Campbell about her son, but Sam says he already took care of it when he drove into town.Â
You frown, but you no longer have the energy to be angry. You further withdraw into yourself, and your lower lip trembles as you look out the window. Through the rearview mirror, Dean sees more tears slipping down your face.
What Sam told him (but he wonât tell you), is what one of the survivors said. One of the mated pairs had taken AndyâŚto âadoptâ a son of their own.Â
That night is quiet and tense in Deanâs room. You have to wash your hair all over again, and scrub the blood and grime from your body until only your skin remains. But you donât have the energy to do more than braid your wet hair afterwards and pull on your lucky Journey shirt, which is still full of holes.Â
Dean knows that itâs bad when you need the âdreamcatcher,â as heâs called it in his head. Youâve never had a nightmare while wearing that shirt, or so you claimed a while back.Â
You wear it over some long pajama pants instead of your usual shorts, or better yet, nothing at all. But he can see what kind of mood youâre in. Things are unsettled as you both get ready for bed in silence.Â
He notes the way you turn to face the other side in bed, maybe to avoid him. Though if you really wanted to do that, you couldâve gone to your old room.
So in more ways than one, Dean takes some solace in the fact that youâre still next to him. And he decides to give you some time and space.Â
He goes to bed and tries in vain to sleep.
In the morning, Deanâs woken by the familiar smell of coffeeâŚand the less familiar sound of loud salsa music.Â
What the fuck?
After he brushes his teeth, he puts on his robe and slippers and heads down to the kitchen, where he finds you in a seemingly better mood. Youâre mopping the floor, of all things. Youâre out of your pajamas, instead wearing a loose shirt that falls off your shoulder and some spandex shorts.Â
âYo no se maĂąanaâŚyo no se maĂąana. Si estaremos juntos, si se acaba el mundo,â you sing softly along with the music as you dance from the kitchen to the living room. Your phone is connected to a Bluetooth speaker on the coffee table.Â
Dean starts to smile, crossing his arms as he leans against the doorway to watch you.
At an instrumental break with a run of conga drums and trumpets, you pause in your mopping to do a little twirl as you dance, with a soulful roll of hips and a flair of salsa steps. It makes Deanâs smile kick up into a smirk.
He walks in on purposefully light feet until heâs sidled up behind you in the living room.
âNice moves, Shakira,â he quips.Â
It startles a shriek of surprise out of you as you whirl around. Deanâs smile hikes up into a grin, but it soon fades when he remembers the way your scream rang through his ears last night. The way his heart dropped into his stomach, and his head swiveled at the sound. And he saw you go down hard.Â
Then the rest of it tumbles through his mindâwhat he had to do afterwards in order to save you. How heâd did it without really thinking, his panic and determination blocking out almost everything else when heâd grabbed the kid. The monster, he forcibly reminds himself.Â
âYou trying to give me a heart attack?â you ask with a hand on your heart.Â
Dean forces himself to smile a little. âSorry. But might I remind you, not everyone hereâs an early bird.â
You give him a wry look.
âYouâre the only one around here who sleeps past 10 a.m. Cas dipped out a while ago, and Samâs on a run.âÂ
But you graciously grab your phone to lower the music to a more bearable level. Dean doesnât yet know this about you, but thisâlistening to music, dancing, cleaningâitâs all your way of copingâŚand releasing as much of your pain, terror, and regret from yesterday as possible.Â
You then look up at him more guarded. The two of you exchanged a lot of unsavory words last night. In fact, it may just be the worst fight you two have ever had in almost three years of knowing one another. Â
Dean senses the shift in you, and his amusement fades. He just can't let things stay like this. He won't.
He hazards drawing closer and touching your arm.
âLookâŚIâm sorry for snapping at you yesterday. I know I was being a dick,â he says. âYouâve just gotta understand something.â
You wait for him to continue with furrowed brows, sensing that whatever heâs about to say is hard for him.Â
âThereâs a reason I donât do this. The uh, relationship thing,â Dean continues, clearing his throat. His thumb swipes along your arm. âItâs not just this job. Itâs my fucked up life. I tried to warn you beforeââÂ
âDean,â you say with a sigh, but he raises his hand.Â
âPlease, justâŚlet me say it,â he says. âYou know the spiel. But things can change on a dime. Even on a damn milk run, like a dusty nest of vamps.â
You know that. You know you couldâve died yesterday, and he doesnât need to remind you of that fact. Before you can start to get petulant again though, Dean continues. His jaw is working, like this next part is more difficult for him to admit.
âTrust me when I say, us being together is dangerous, for both of us,â he says. âFor a while I, uhâŚI started to think Sam and I were better off alone.â
That casts you into dismay. Because you know Dean isnât lying. Heâs really contemplated spending the rest of his life devoid of love, so he wonât have to lose it.Â
Dangerous, for both of us.
You realize then what Deanâs really saying. Heâs afraidâŚafraid to lose you. You see it in his furrowed brows, the downturn of his lips, and whatever pain heâs trying to hide in the depths of his eyes.Â
And just like that, the water works start. You canât quite keep your tears at bay as you hold onto his shirt. He lets out a resigned sigh as he holds you by your arms.Â
âYou donât have to cry for that,â he says, a bit teasing.Â
âHave you met me?â you sniff. But you manage to look up at him with your glassy eyes. âIâm sorry too. God, Iâm so sorry, Dean.âÂ
Your fist clenches in his shirt when you remember Andy, latched onto your neck, and how Dean had to save you. You know heâs remembering it too when his brows furrow, and his gaze falls away. You reach a hand for his cheek.
âI know I fucked up,â you admit. âI was working with my heart, not my head. I justâŚâ
You wanted so badly to help that kid and his mother. You also know that Dean understands; you see it in his eyes. He holds your hand to his cheek and brushes his thumb across the back of your hand.
âI know,â he says. âI really am sorry, baby.âÂ
The problem is, you didnât just see your own mother in Rachel. She hadnât been much older than you. And when you imagine a life beyond hunting, more than anything (no matter how much you shove down the idea), you really do want a family of your own someday.Â
Itâs justâŚdays like yesterday remind you why that could be a very bad idea.Â
More of your tears bubble over, and you head willingly into Deanâs arms. âMe tooâŚâ
He holds you tighter than ever. His hands rub down your back, tangle in your hair, and he drops his lips onto your hair. You sniffle, wiping your face dry in his shirt. And for a while, the two of you have peace in the relative quiet.Â
Music still plays from the speaker though. And when another salsa song starts to play on your playlist, you start swaying. A smile works its way onto Deanâs face.Â
âYou canât help yourself, can you?â he teases.
You smile into his chest. âWe should go dancing sometime.â
Dean just laughs. âOooh, no.â
âOh, yes,â you reply, batting your lashes up at him. You slip a hand on his shoulder and into one of his hands. Heâs forced to hold you as if the two of you were about to start Fred Astair-ing across the living room.Â
âHave you ever danced before?â you ask. âLike real dancing.âÂ
âNot salsa, Iâll tell you that,â he quips.Â
âThatâs okay. Iâll teach you,â you reply with a coquettish smile. âItâs just a few simple moves.â
Dean gives you a wan look. âYou made it look anything but simple.â
You blush at that, but you meet him with a pout of disappointment. You donât let up, even when Dean frowns. He huffs at you in resistance.
âNo,â he insists. You just brush a gentle thumb along his neck, biting your lip in askance. Â
But the longer he stares at your beautiful, hopeful eyes, the more cracks form in his resolve.Â
Eventually, Dean breaks with a sigh, and a shake of his head.Â
âYouâre too much, you know that?â he mutters.
Itâs then that you know youâve won.
So with a happy squeal of excitement, you clap your hands and move to stand next to him so you can show him the basic steps of salsa dancing.Â
You make him take off his robe and slippers, leaving in his shirt and plaid pajama pants. Then you instruct him for a few minutes, correcting his footing and getting him to move on a beat. Youâre pleasantly surprised that he has some rhythm. Â
Dean sighs once again. How the hell did we get here? Heat crawls up the back of his neck as embarrassment starts to set in.Â
âThis is fucking ridiculous,â he grumbles.
âYouâre doing good,â you encourage, with a growing smile. âNow come on, feel the beat in threes. One, two, three. One, two, threeâŚâ
Once he sort of has the basic steps and turns down, you move to stand in front of him. There you show him how to hold you, how heâll move forward, and youâll move back. It takes a little while, but you slowly move through the combinations, then do a little twirl underneath his hand.Â
When he pulls you back in without faltering, you give him a beaming smile. âVery good!â
A subtle grin raises his lips at your enthusiasm. He also feels his face heating up at the praise.
But you pause when a certain song filters through the speakers. Itâs an old one (and it never fails to make you blush), but you love it. Â
âOoh, yes,â you exclaim with delight, and you turn up the volume.
âWhatâs this one?â Dean asks.
âVen DevĂłrame Otra Ves,â you inform him. Not that he knows what that means. You sing along a bit with the first couple of verses while you encourage Dean to lead you in the dance.Â
This song is just slow enough for him to attempt it, and the funny thing is, he doesnât feel all that uncomfortable with the steps now. Heâs starting to get a feel for how to move, both with his feet, and with his hands as he guides you by your waist, holding your hand close to his chest. Still, Deanâs also curious about the lyrics youâre singing.Â
âWhat does it mean?â he asks.
You huff in amusement. âYou sure you want to know?â
Dean raises a brow. âWell, now I gotta know.âÂ
You giggle at that, though you correct his steps when he leads with the wrong foot.Â
âOkay. Itâs about a guy whoâs pretty much a player,â you say with a smirk. âHis bed has been a revolving door of hot ass, but he keeps thinking about this one woman who used to have him turned inside outâŚâ
Deanâs lips curve at the familiar image youâre conjuring. He manages to turn you under his hand, then pull you back to him in one smooth motion. He looks down at you with a deeper gleam in his eyes. You bite your lip, soothing your hand from his shoulder and down his arm.
As the songâs verses come, you translate for him. And for Dean, your voice in itself is a spell.
âEven in my dreams, he says, I thought I had you devouring me. And I dampened my white sheets remembering you,â you begin. Your words are smooth like black velvet. âIn my bed, no one is like you, who draws my body on every corner, without a piece of skin left over.â
Dean is getting hot under the collar as you push away, dragging your fingertips along his back as you turn around him. When you come back into his line of vision, his attention is attracted to the sway of your hips, clad just in those little spandex shorts. He has to clear his throat a bit.Â
You eventually return to him with a warm hand against his chest.Â
âVen, devĂłrame otra ves. It means, come devour me again,â you continue, looking up at him from under your lashes, âCome punish me more with your desire. Because I kept my love for youâŚbecause my mouth has the taste of your body.âÂ
You smile at the laser focus of his green-eyed gaze. âCome devour me again.â
You push off with another little spin. When you reach for his hand, Dean yanks you back into him, eliciting a gasp. The move disorients you for a moment, but you giggle and hold onto his arms. Your hands glide up to rest on his shoulders.Â
Heâs holding you flush against him, and as you shift a thigh between his legs, you unintentionally graze against his hardening length. You look up at him with a smirk.
âYouâre a littleâŚstiff,â you say, both flirtatious and teasing. âLetâs loosen you up.â
You shake his shoulders out and try to get him to relax. Dean raises a wry brow, because you know damn well whose fault it is that his body is coiled tight. But you place his hands on your hips as you move back into the dance.Â
âFeel what Iâm doing there?â you ask. He looks down on you with growing heat.
âIf I could do that, we wouldnât be together,â he rumbles.Â
You try to stifle a laugh as he pulls you in close again, just swaying for a bit. Soon enough, you grin knowingly when his hands start to slide lower on your ass. His head bows to yours, ready to meet you with a kiss.Â
You stop him with your finger on his lips.
âQuestion: do you consider yourself more of a tits or ass man?â you ask him. Youâre half teasing, but still curious. Dean snorts at the question.Â
âMore of a connoisseur,â he replies, smirking.Â
âAh.â You nod sagely, and you point between him and yourself. âSo this is like a âsample the menuâ situation.â
Deanâs smirk deepens. âSweetheart, youâre a goddamn buffet.â
You splutter laughingâŚand thatâs when he finally pounces. He claims your lips with greedy passion. His hand winds into your hair, gripping tight and ruining whatâs left of your loose ponytail. The strands coil around his hand in messy curls while he also gets a healthy grip of your ass through your thin shorts.Â
You smile into his lips, even as you acquiesce to him guiding your head to the side, so he can slip his tongue against yours. You grip his arms more for stability while he manhandles you, kneading soft flesh and making pleasant tingles run up your spine.Â
After a little while, his mouth burns a hot path away from yours. He noses down your neck, skimming his lips across your skin. It sets your nerve endings on fire and gets you breathing more shallowly in his ear. You cling to the back of his shirt, holding him close.Â
A softer smile grows on your face. You trail your fingers up into his hair, massaging the back of his neck.Â
âIâm okay,â you remind him. Dean hums deep in agreement. You know, however, that heâs still thinking far too much.
So you slide your hands down, slow between the dips and planes of muscle in his back, and rest at his hips. Your thumbs delve under the hem of his shirt and tease the skin there.Â
And you start slow, pressing wet, nipping kisses of your own to his neck while you inch his shirt up. You feel his smile on your neck. His grip on your hip flares to life. Still, he lets you tug his shirt up and over his head. Your loose shirt comes next, revealing the same black satin and lace bra you wore the first time he ever got you topless in his arms.Â
A fan favorite. Dean grins. He reaches around to go for the clasp, but your firm push on his chest takes him by surprise.
He falls back onto the couch with a grunt, looking up at you then with raised brows. Youâve got a mischievous little smirk on your face that heats his blood and makes his cock twitch.
You take out the rest of your falling ponytail, shaking your hair out wild. Then you let your hands drift down your neck, over your clothed breasts, and finally to your little shorts.
Dean rubs his palms down his thighs and watches. A smirk forms across his lips as you slide the fabric down the curve of your hips. It leaves you in a red thong, familiar to him by the little tear it has on the front. (Again, his fault.)
You climb aboard his strong thighs to straddle his lap, using his shoulders as leverage as you sink down. You make sure to rub yourself teasingly against his clothed erection. He groans in appreciation. His hands fly to your soft, thick thighs and squeeze.Â
âAw, I like this,â Dean says, half on another moan as you grind down a bit harder on him.Â
âYeah?â you tease. You take his face in your hands and capture his lips with your own. Your tongue invades his mouth, and he welcomes you with a deep hum. Itâs slow and hot at first, but Dean feels the loss of you when you break from his lips.
Instead, you treat him with the same trail of kisses he gave you, along the curve of his jaw and down his neck. But you donât stop there.
Your hands move over his chest with purpose, tweaking over each hard nipple while your mouth burns a wet line down and down his sternum. Dean groans at your ministrations, but lets you leave his lap to slide down to the ground, between his thighs.Â
âWhatâre you up to, baby?â he asks, despite having a very good idea of it. He catches the playful, yet determined gleam in your eye.Â
You pause, briefly leaning back up to give him a heated kiss. You part from him with a grin.Â
âIsnât it obvious?â you ask. âIâm gonna devour you.â
Dean stares hard at you as goosebumps break out across his forearms.Â
Oh, fuck yeah.Â
A giggle bubbles in your throat at the expression on his face. But you continue, taking his pants down his legs first, before his boxer briefs.Â
Deanâs body tenses in anticipation. Youâve gone down on him before, but somehow itâs different this time. He feels like every single one of his nerve endings stands at attention along with his dick. And youâre taking your sweet time working him up.Â
Even when his cock is finally free, you sooth your hands down his legs first, maybe teasing him a bit as you drag your nails down his inner thighs. Dean makes a strained sound, though he tries to hide it by clearing his throat.
Your gaze flicks up to his with a little smile. Heâs holding the back of the couch; his fingers are digging into the old cushion in effort to keep still for you. But his eyes stare into yours like a man starving. You know what youâre in for after you have your way with him, but for now, heâs quite literally under your control.Â
So you take him in your hands first. Dean groans as you tease him with light touches, soft movements, your thumb slowly circling over the sensitive, weeping head of his cock. It's torturous enough to make him drop his head back against the couch, closing his eyes tight.
And suddenly, he blinks them open again.
âShit,â he utters, when you finally take him into your mouth. Your tongue is soft and wet, your lips move over him steadily, and your hands caress whatever your mouth canât take, even teasing his balls.Â
You work him over relentlessly, until he canât help but spill everything he has to give into your waiting mouth. When you suck off and swallow whatever remains, Deanâs heart stutters like syncopated conga drums.Â
He shudders and struggles for breath afterwards, watching your every movementâfrom wiping your mouth to shooting him that satisfied little smirk.Â
You press one last kiss to the inside of his thigh before you raise from where youâve been kneeling on the hard ground.Â
Dean manages to lean forward and helps you up by your elbows. But then he pulls you back into his lap and kisses you deeply. He doesnât let up until youâre panting with him.
âFuckinâ hell, sweetheart,â he manages to say. His voice is deep and laced with grit.Â
Heâs still panting heavily. You giggle and press your warming face into his neck.Â
âWhat, now youâre shy?â he remarks. And he has to laugh. âCome back here.â
He brings your face back to him with a hand on your cheek. For a second, he just looks at you. His thumb strokes across your full, thoroughly kissed bottom lip. Â
âSay it,â you encourage softly. âWhatever youâre thinking. Right now.â
A smile tugs at his lips. He canât help but oblige you.Â
âYouâre too damn much,â he says again, both gruff and fond. Despite how you drive him up the fucking wall sometimes, he doesn't think it'll ever be enough for him, what he has with you.
Because this is something he'd almost given up on. Didn't think he'd get to have it. And it almost scares him, how much he wants you. How much he...
âI love you,â he says. His thumb traces along the familiar curve of your cheek.
It hasnât been all that long, but he knows. You weaseled your way in without even trying. The least he can do for you is be honest.
Your fingers curl around his wrist, holding his hand in place. You tilt your head at him.
âOh, yeah?â you ask.Â
Dean hesitates, but he nods. âYeah.â
A smile grows across your face. âEh, Iâm still on the fence.â
At his flat look, you laugh and lean in for a kiss. He allows it, a little petulantly. But you make up for it with sweet affection. Your gentle hands stroke down the column of his neck, down his chest. You then lean back so he can see your face.
âYo te amo,â you whisper. âTe amo y te quiero, mĂĄs que tĂş puedes creer y entender.â
Dean smiles. He doesnât understand all of it, but he gets the important bits. He hears it in the tone of your voice. He sees it in your eyes. They shine with emotion, but mainly with love.Â
Dean kisses your hand. He lets go, just so he can slip his hands around you to finally unhook your bra. He tosses it across the room without bothering to see where it lands.
You do though, and you meet him with a slightly narrowed gaze.Â
âAre you making a mess of my clean bunker?â you tease.Â
His lips curve as he kisses you again, while his hands each get a generous handful of your breasts.Â
âAh, hello, ladies." He grins. "Miss me?â
You canât help but laugh. Heâs such a dork sometimes.
But you hum when his thumbs brush over hardened nipples, then drag deliberate circles over them, and pinch just hard enough to make you whimper in pleasure. The sensation zips through you, enhancing the flood between your legs.Â
âI fucking love that sound,â Dean mutters, and licks a hot path in the valley between your breasts. His lips move against your dewy skin when he says, âDo that for me again.â
When he takes a nipple in his mouth and nips a bit hard, you have to oblige him. Your voice rising high is music to his ears. Â
So he goes for your panties next. You help him get them off and return to his lap. With a breathy moan, you revel at the feeling of his fingers probing into your wet heat. Â
However, you and Dean have been too engrossed in one another to notice the door of the bunker unlocking, and heavy steps down the spiral staircase.Â
Itâs Sam whoâs back from his run. Unfortunately, he soon has to shield his eyes upon reaching the living room.Â
âDamn it, Dean!â
You yelp in surprise, but Dean laughs and holds you close to shield you from view. As a bonus, it presses your breasts against his chest.Â
âAll right, Sammy. Go to your room,â he chides playfully (but he means it). âThe adults are havinâ a moment.â
Sam scoffs. âYouâre having a moment on the goddamn couch!â
âSorry,â you say, though itâs muffled in Deanâs neck. Your face is red hot with embarrassment.Â
Sam rolls his eyes heavenward and tries not to see anything else on his way to his room.Â
But Deanâs chuckle reverberates through your chest as his hand goes to your cheek. He encourages you to pull back, so he can see your face again.Â
When he does, he smirks at the scarlet blush dusting your cheeks and neck. You bite your lower lip, but despite your embarrassment, youâre happy.
Your own words replay in your mind when you lean in for another kiss.
I love you, youâd said. I love you and I love you, more than you can believe and understand.Â
AN: Yay! I hope you enjoyed Part 2 of the âMidnight Espressoâ-verse! I loved writing this one so much. I know we're just doing fanfic here, but I genuinely put my heart and soul into this one. â¤ď¸
Also, here are a couple of Spanish translations:
(Note: other Spanish-speaking countries may interpret certain words differently.)
[During their fight]:Â
âQue sin vergĂźenza tĂş eres. Sigue jodiendo conmigo, coĂąo. Entonces tĂş vas a ver quien soy yo.â
Translation:
âYouâre shameless. Keep messing with me, damn it. Then youâre going to see who I am (<- This is Dominican slang. It essentially means fuck around and find out what I'm made of.).â
[Song lyrics: âYo No Se MaĂąanaâ by Luis Enrique]:Â
âYo no se maĂąanaâŚyo no se maĂąana. Si estaremos juntos, si se acaba el mundo.â
Translation:
âI donât know tomorrow. I donât know tomorrow. If weâll be together, if the world will end.â

CW đ Yandere!Mr. Silvair, loss of limbs, loss of limbs, general violence, confinement
Mr. Silvair is very interesting to me because he rejects you, but I can definitely see him eventually adoring you like a cute little unruly pet that doesn't know any better.
What made you so interesting to him in the first place is your desperate struggle to hold on to your humanity. Out of all of the unfortunate idiots who made their way here, you survived the longest with your sanity in tact. It's so impressive that Mr. Silvair actually thinks you have a chance of making it back with your mind in one piece.
A part of him wished you had stayed in his lab for longer so he could pick you apart in closer detail, but he knew that would lead him nowhere. What Mr. Silvair needed was progressâ for your sanity to deteriorate.
And the change is drastic. You were once a trembling good-for-nothing that would have likely died in two days without Mr. Crawling's help, but now you bite. Now you can twist limbs and tear torsos apart with your bare hands. Now you roam these hallways as the predator searching for prey, and, soon, you'll become another one of the many bloodthirsty residents here.
Not that Mr. Silvair would allow it to get to that point, though, as he proceeds to restrain and detain you in one of his many cells. Why would he allow the perfect test subject to slip away from his fingers so easily? As a token of your short-lived friendship, he even went out of his way and gave you a clean cell! He also arranged occasional visits from Mr. Chopped (but never Mr. Crawling) whenever you stayed docile long enough on the operating table. Nevermind your many escape attempts and increasing hostility, you'll understand soon enough.
In there, you're safe and that's all that matters. It's your temporary abode away while you 'rehabilitate', a safe space where you can't hurt anyone or yourself. You used to be so bothered by the lack of limbs, but you've stopped resisting. He thinks you're starting to learn how inconvenient it is to be in this helpless stateâ how futile resistance is. You're starting to behave.
Mr. Silvair observes that you now like getting headpats these days. Maybe a few kisses here and there to remind you of your long lost affection for him. Mr. Silvair can't accurately assess whether you hate it or not, though. What happened to the good old days when you used to run to his door for safety whenever you got chased down by something much larger than you? Now you hate this place when it used to be your only space of rest and respite.
As a special treat, he brings you interesting knick knacks that should remind you of your human life. But really, it's a special treat for him because he enjoys watching you pretend it's not making you miserable to be reminded of your past life. Either way, you'll take any positive attention you get from him, no matter how condescending, over the long hours on that wretched table. You can bark and hiss all you want but it doesn't change the fact that you crave any sense of normalcy, even if it comes in the form of his twisted affection for you.
It's cute, almost. Mr. Silvair enjoys being relied upon by something that was once so terrifying. He enjoys reducing you and chipping away at your autonomy, from the physical to the mental. He's at least self-aware enough to acknowledge that it's no longer a research project to him, but a perverse achievement to have you like this.
As interesting as it was to watch your descent into madness, Mr. Silvair wants to break you apart and be the one who puts you back together. It really doesn't matter how many times he has to break your limbs until you've learnt your lesson.

bez da me jednom pogledaĹĄ i da mi jedan razlog daĹĄ.

If That Won't Exist Anymore (ENG)
Nine days have already passed, you still haven't come back
I'll wait a bit longer
Maybe a month, maybe two
For you to open the door like nothing happened
And like always, I'll ask you how your day was, so we can laugh at all of the little stories
What will we have for lunch, do we have a plan, will we go out or decide to stay at the apartment?
So we can hug and kiss and hug and kiss, whisper to each other
That we love each other, and joke around and laugh while we warm our legs
If that won't exist anymore, love is nothing but a lie
If that won't exist anymore, if you're really leaving me
Without looking at me even once or giving me a single reason
A month has already passed and you're still not here
I sleep more or less poorly, so that in my dreams I won't be late when you open the door like nothing happened
And I'll ask you like always, how was your day, so we can laugh at all of the little stories
What will we have for lunch, do we have a plan, will we go out or decide to stay at the apartment?
So we can hug and kiss and hug and kiss, say that we love each other and joke around and laugh while we warm our legs
If that won't exist anymore, love is nothing but a lie
If that won't exist anymore, if you're really leaving me
Without looking at me even once or giving me a single reason
I'm gone, I know you know
A year has passed
If that won't exist anymore, love is nothing but a lie
If that won't exist anymore, if you're really leaving me

no but really. riko's "lessons" on grief crumbling the second kevin finds out about riko's death though!!!! all of that suppression, all of the buried feelings, all of the time spent avoiding and hiding and concealing left to rise to the surface the second riko is dead!!!
i am convinced kevin freaks out in a way he's never freaked out before, in a way that sincerely shocks anyone who witnesses it, once he finds out riko is gone. in a way that subtly begs the question about inpatient care and an extended leave of absence and rehab. in a way that nobody else really understands because it was riko of all people to trigger this meltdown, but in a way that is genuinely terrifying
that codependency, even if undercut by relief that the abuse is over, does not go away without a freak out!!
-childhood in the nest anon
oh that's such a good point. Especially if Riko was successful in not letting Kevin mourn, if Kevin never really grieved his mother because Riko said, "You have me."
Like, what if the whole basis of Kevin's avoidance of grieving his mom was based on Riko saying, "So long as I'm here, you don't have to worry about her." Imagine every time he almost cried, every time he almost said I miss my mom out loud, Riko would grip his arm or his hand or his face and say something to the effect of, "Your grief is a waste of time and the only thing that matters is me, is us, is exy."
And then Riko's dead? And oh, he remembers this feeling that he'd only felt in vague bursts before, buried so deep he couldn't even be sure he felt it at all. The words, "Riko is dead," sound like "Your mom is dead". They found her body this morning. They found his body last night. There's nothing they could've done to save her. He was dead when the ambulance arrived.
It's like this doubled grief, all the things he'd never been allowed to feel for his mom suddenly coming back up, and like, these are feelings that Kevin thought he was too young to have felt. He thought he was too young to remember, he thought he was too young to understand but now he's reminded that, no, you felt it. You understood. You just weren't allowed to feel the monumental loss that you'd faced. You weren't allowed to work through this gnawing icy pain in your heart. And now that Riko's dead, you're allowed. You're free.
But now Riko's dead. Now Riko is dead, and his mom is dead, and fuck Riko for making him feel both of their deaths at the same time because he shouldn't exist in the same world that his mother does. The pain he feels for them both should be incomparable.
I like to imagine that for just a few moments after Kevin is told, he goes into shock, completely and utterly unable to function with the knowledge that Riko is dead.
"Riko killed himself last night," David says, and Abby is by his side for backup, for protection, for Kevin's safety. Betsy is on speed dial. "They won't tell me much, but they think it happened fast."
Maybe Abby nudges him because nothing he says will be okay, or good enough, or soft enough so as to not destroy Kevin. And he hears the words. He knew they were coming. They had to come, this was always going to happen. This was always how it was going to end. But his brain goes quiet and his hands go numb and he smiles a weak smile. He doesn't feel those words at all.
"Okay," He nods, like he's just been told that it's raining outside or he's wearing odd socks. "Thank you, Coach."
"Kevin, did you..." Abby's voice is soft as she reaches out. "Did you hear what David said?"
His eyes are empty, someplace far away, but his voice does not shake as he says, "I did."
For a while, maybe, they don't let him leave the room. He's quiet, disassociating, but not yet crying. Not yet throwing things around the room like David expected. Not yet begging for a bottle of vodka.
Does Renee come to the door first, or Neil? Does Abby answer the door because David asked her to, and what snaps him out of it? Is it Renee saying, "I called Jean. I told him to avoid the news," or is it Neil saying, "Have you told him yet?" that snaps him back into the real world, back to reality, to Jean can't find out, to Jean is alone, to Neil knows, to oh my god to this is real to Riko's dead and Riko's dead and Riko's dead.
Everything is familiar and nothing is the same. His body tells him heâs allowed to mourn his mom now, but he canât handle it, and he canât handle Riko being dead and Jean not knowing and Riko being dead and his mom isnât here and he just. canât. get his head around it. Itâs all of a sudden messy and loud and confusing. He canât let himself think about how Riko probably didnât kill himself, he canât ask himself why Neil knew before he did. He canât believe it. If he believes it then itâs real and itâs his fault and who has him now? That was Rikoâs job. To stop him from mourning so he could keep his eye on the prize and now he has it; They won the season. He put all his focus on exy, and look where it got him. All those lessons, all that burying of his feelings and compartmentalising to deal with it later hits him at once like a fucking truck and I think Kevin had the breakdowns of all breakdowns that day.
I think whatever happened to Jean on his own in that dorm room wouldâve happened to Kevin, and more. Heâs lucky that he wasnât alone, I suppose, but it still doesnât make it any easier. Heâs tall, and heâs strong, and his head isnât in the room when heâs throwing shit at the walls and screaming like itâll help make things make sense. He doesnât see where the chair lands. He doesnât see who the books are thrown at. There is a chance that not one person in that room has ever seen anyone lose their mind so quickly, and intensely before. Because itâs not just Riko, itâs his mom, itâs his childhood, itâs his future, itâs his abuser, itâs his brother, itâs his identity and purpose and fuck, itâs Riko. Who is he without Riko?
If I keep going this will just end up far too long but oh lordy lord I think youâre absolutely right

SVT when you're distracted by him
Requested? Yes!
Genre: FLUFF. NOTHING BUT FLUFF.
Mercilessly makes fun of you - Jeonghan, Joshua, Wonwoo, Seungkwan
Is anyone surprised by this first one on this list? Probably not so weâll get this out of the way lol. Jeonghan's very obviously the type to laugh at you when you trip over your own feet while looking at him. Of course, heâs helping you up, but not without a taunting, âI know Iâm attractive, but come on.â Might even let you trip a few more times because he's equally entertained and touched by the effect he has on you.
Listen, Iâm convinced Joshua is super cheesy, so when you trip over your own feet while looking at him, heâs helping you up with a âFalling for me already?â You scoff at him, but he thinks the way it flusters you is so cute. Another one that might let you trip a couple more times.Â
Wonwoo pulls you out of the way as you almost run into a light pole while walking, looking kind of smug. âDistracted, huh?â Donât bother objecting because he saw how focused you were on him. Donât worry, the other two above might let you make a fool of yourself again, but Wonwoo will keep pulling you out of the way and keep you on your feet, even if you can tell he finds it entertaining.
Now for the exact opposite. Seungkwan will stop walking to fold in half, laughing hysterically. It might even make you a little mad how embarrassed you are and how funny he finds it, but between giggles heâs asking if you're okay and suggesting you look where youâre going.Â
Totally oblivious/confused - Seungcheol, Woozi, Minghao, Vernon
Seungcheolâs got a new hair cut and you certainly complimented him already. When you trip over your own feet and blame him for it, he canât help but be outraged, because what do you mean?? He didn't touch you!! When you say he looks too good and it's distracting, he does a little âohâ and then gets a little smug.Â
When you nearly run into something and dodge it, Jihoon asks if you're okay. You say something along the lines of, âIâd be better if they'd close the gyms.â Totally lost by what that means and hours later remembers that he was wearing a tighter shirt today. Huh, heâll think. Maybe the workouts are paying off.Â
Youâve dropped like five things this morning and Minghaoâs starting to get kind of concerned. Are your hands okay?? Heâll ask. âPut some sleeves on or something, please,â youâll beg. Does not understand right away because itâs hot out, what is he supposed to do?? But later heâll feel a little smug about it, pulling out all of his sleeveless shirts.Â
You bump into something and whine to Vernon. âPut those big brown eyes away, man!!â Blinks said big brown eyes at you in total confusion. âBut I need to see where Iâm going,â heâll say blankly. Totally lost when you walk ahead of him, claiming you can't bump into or trip over anything anymore. Maybe, perhaps, likely will never get it.Â
Equally distracted - Jun, Hoshi, DK, Mingyu, Chan
I promise this is not a cop-out. I genuinely believe all of them are also tripping over, running into, and dropping everything because theyâre equally distracted by you. A clumsy couple!!! My favorite!!!!

Yall will do anything but actually take responsibility for what you've created. Fanon is literally that. Canon crested by fans. They're all headcanons created by you, yes. Literally you, the person reading this that has written fanfic and drawn comics and posted your essays. You are the people writing stories and sharing art and making tumblr posts. Each an every person on here, commenting on my post outraged that I like the collicteve works of yourself had had a hand in creating fanon just by existing in the fandom. You all speak with such derison about yourselves and its actually making me laugh.
You actually can find fanon from people of color. Many many different ways. From discord servers to tumblr to twitter and beyond. AO3 Is just an archive for writers. It is not the be all end all of fandom. But, while we are talking about AO3.
It is not a streaming service. It is not youtube. The works there are not paid for. They are made by you and me and a billion other people who only want to share their art. THEY ARE YOUR PEERS, NOT A CONGLOMERATE. This whole response makes it sound like you're all complaining about the fucking disney channel queerbaiting you again. If YOU want more Babs stories. Write them. You dont want racist tropes in your fanfiction? Well howdy do you've already proven you can both write and post to the internet just by responding to this post. Write. Create. Build. Just like the rest of us normal people did when we added onto the fandom. If you want Cass to be more present in stories, write those. Jesus christ yall. This is YOUR baby you're trying to throw out with the bathwater.
At the end of the day, you need to step back and realize that if someone is telling you they like your work and the community you built with your own bare hands. Maybe say, hell yeah. Im glad you like it, instead of acting like you're above your own hard damn work.
Also. As a side note. Im an indigenous trans person. I understand what it means to desperately want to see representation for me and to know that i will likely never be able to make it a reality in any canon works. I find that fanon is more likely to be written by people of color, disabled people and queer people than canon will ever be. Fandom is a bigger and more diverse collective than canon. Which makes me love it more. Because I can have my voice heard. Because you can have your voice heard.
Its new and its beautiful and its ever changing and its so, so much better than almost 100 years of writers having to sanitize themselves for the capitalist elite who need every batboy to look the same and cant let gay characters exist without making it tragic or retconning it every two seconds.
In the end all I can say is this
Fanon is beautiful.
Fanon has more for me than canon does. Likely, if you are not white, not straight, not cis or not able bodied, it also has more for you than canon ever will.
You all deserve to love your community too. If there are racists. Well fuck man, do what everyone else is doing by drowning them out with your own, obviously not problematic the sligtest, content. So go. Fix what youre complaing about. But realize that you are part of the problem. You are part of the collective you are angrily decrying and nothing you can say will change anything unless you put your hands to paper and actually start working for the changes you want to see.
Hot take but I prefer fanon Batfam to Canon batfam because at least fanon does its best to give each of the batfam very distinct personalities and looks.
I love living in a world where blue eyed black haired white boy doesn't describe half the group, ya know?

BUCKY X READER
You were on a mission with the Avengers newest member, Bucky.
You weren't exactly thrilled to be working with the ex hydra agent. Stopping in a shitty motel for the night you groaned and threw your duffle bag on one of the single beds.
Lately you had been feeling...odd.
Things weren't adding up, maybe your paranoia was returning.
You sighed and sat on the edge of the bed, rubbing a spot on the back of your neck.
"Why do you keep doing that?" Bucky asked as you looked up.
"What?"
"You go quiet and rub your neck." He noted as you quickly stopped.
"Nothing, doesn't matter." You replied.
"I'm going to take a shower."
You sat on the edge of the bed, staring down at your hands.
Bucky eventually finished showering, coming out without a shirt and his hair a mess.
"Seriously, what the hell is going on with you?" He asked as you looked up.
"I don't know... Maybe I'm going crazy. I just have this feeling." You muttered standing up and starting to pace.
"Y/N, you're acting insane." He said as you stopped and looked at him.
"What happened when you first joined the team?" You asked as he looked at you in confusion.
"Well, Steve introduced me to the team. I got a room and...that's about it." He said as you bit the inside of your lip in thought.
"What about when you first joined? When they took you from Shield and to the tower. There's time missing, isn't there?" You said as he thought for a while.
"I guess... It was just a busy time, I probably forgot some things." He said as you began rubbing the back of your neck again.
"I need a knife." You muttered, opening your duffle and grabbing out your blade.
"I need you to make an incision in my neck." You said handing the blade to him.
He quickly took it and put it down.
"Alright, let's put the knife down and sit down. There we go." He said pushing you back to sit on the bed.
"You're acting a little...hostile, Y/N. Talk to me." He said kneeling in front of you as you rubbed at your neck again.
He gently reached up and pulled your hand away.
"Talk to me." He said softly.
"What if they planted a chip in me?" You whispered, Bucky looked at you in confusion.
"Who?" He asked, holding onto your hand.
"The team! We both come from bad backgrounds, what it they chipped us!" You shouted as he looked at you in concern.
"Y/N, you're having a breakdown. The team wouldn't do that to us." He said as you shook your head.
"You need to cut into my skin, okay? Just trust me!" You shouted as you got up and grabbed the knife again, Bucky quickly grabbed you, restraining your arms.
"Enough! Y/N, there isn't a chip in your neck, okay? You had one in your neck from Hydra but it was taken out, remember?" He asked as you stopped fighting and panted softly.
"What's happening to me?" You whispered as Bucky sighed but still held you.
"Steve warned me you get delusions and paranoia... Have you got medication?" He asked, slowly letting you go.
You turned around and looked at him.
"I have some with me... But, what if they just want me to take them to make me forget?" You whispered as Bucky looked at you, feeling sorry for you.
"I know it seems scary at the moment, nothing really makes sense. You just need to take some medication. There's no reason the team would need to implant a chip into you. You're a valuable member of the team, not a prisoner." He replied, trying to reason with you.
You bit your lip and looked around, thinking.
"If we were their prisoners would they send us both alone on a mission together?" He asked as you sighed and rubbed your eyes.
"Where's your medication?" He asked softly.
You pointed to your backpack and Bucky searched through it to find the bottle of pills.
He thoroughly read the bottle before getting one out and a glass of water.
"Here." He said handing it to you and practically stared at you without blinking until you took it.
After taking it you laid on the bed and sighed softly.
"Some hero, huh?" You grumbled as Bucky sat beside you.
"Y/N, we all have issues on the team. I think it's a prerequisite at this point." He joked making you chuckle softly.
You rolled over and started to run your finger over his metal hand.
He glanced down at you in shock, he wasn't used to someone finding comfort in his metal arm.
"I love being a hero... I love being on the team, but it just gets difficult. I feel so alone." You muttered, mindlessly tracing patterns onto his hand.
"I understand, but you don't have to do this alone. We can do this together, you can come to me whenever you're having...delusions, and I come to you when I have a bad dream or something. Good exchange?" He asked as you chuckled softly.
"Sounds like a good deal, Barnes." You muttered looking up at him.
"It's a deal then."

Between Hate and Desire- Pope Heyward
You sit on the shore, your bare feet in the cold water, the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks. The sunset paints the sky in orange and pink, but your mind is elsewhere. You're trying to ignore the growing tension between you and the Pogues, especially Pope. Even though you're a Kook and things have always been complicated between you, you can't get him out of your head. The hate he seems to feel, mixed with an undeniable attraction, confuses you.
"Why are you here?" Pope's voice makes you jump, and you turn around quickly. Heâs appeared out of nowhere, as always. His expression is serious, but there's something in his eyes that makes you doubt.
"Canât I just come watch the sunset without you asking me a question?" you reply with a mischievous smile, trying to hide your nervousness.
Pope raises an eyebrow, his gaze betraying a hint of irritation, but thereâs also something else, a spark of curiosity. "Weâre not exactly friends, you know?"
"Weâre something more complicated than that, Pope," you reply with a challenging tone, and he notices immediately. His gaze becomes more intense, but he doesnât look away.
"Your friends..." Pope starts but stops. A bitter smile touches his lips. "What do you really want from them? Youâre not one of us, and you know it."
"Itâs not that I care so much about being one of 'you,'" you reply calmly, but your heart is pounding. "But you, Pope... youâve always been like this... unyielding. Like you canât see beyond that."
Pope takes a step closer to you, his eyes locked on yours. "And youâve always been like this, havenât you? Convincing everyone youâre superior, but deep down youâre just a Kook. A Kook trying to ruin the lives of those who donât think like you."
His voice is sharp, but the way he looks at you makes you realize those words arenât filled with hate, but something more complex. Maybe itâs just fear. Fear of what might happen if he let go.
"Why do you care so much?" you ask, feeling your breath quicken. Your heart races as you realize the distance between you two has narrowed to just a few steps.
Pope stops, staring at you for a moment as if heâs trying to decode a puzzle. "I shouldnât, but I do. I canât ignore you, even when I want to."
You move closer, so close that you can feel the beat of his heart. "And yet you trust me, even though you have every reason to hate me."
A smile forms on his lips, but itâs not like the ones others know. "I donât hate you, Y/N. I... understand you."
The tension is palpable between you two, and as his eyes drift to your lips, all you want is for him to give in. But heâs always been so stubborn, so sure of wanting to keep control.
"Youâre an enigma, Pope," you murmur as you reach out to touch his face. "A Kook who has the power to make you falter."
Popeâs breath becomes more uneven, but he doesnât say anything. He moves closer, so close you can feel his warmth. Then, with a quick motion, he stops. "Iâm not like the others, Y/N. I canât... I canât be like them."
His voice is a whisper, but you know nothing is clearer. The struggle between what he should be and what he feels is evident, but you have no intention of letting him escape.
The distance between you and Pope seems to have disappeared. The air around you is so thick it almost pulses. You look into his eyes, and for a moment, everything seems to stop. The sound of the waves crashing on the shore fades away, and the whole world vanishes. Then, without warning, Pope takes a step forward, and his warm breath brushes against your face.
"I canât keep denying it," he whispers, his eyes dropping to your lips. "I canât ignore you anymore."
His words are like an invitation. Your heart beats loudly in your chest as you take another step toward him. His hands gently cup your face, and without thinking, his lips find yours.
The kiss is sweet at first, as if you both are trying to figure out if this is really what you want. Then, like a fire igniting, the passion grows, and his hands move to your waist, pulling you toward him. You feel lost in the moment, completely overwhelmed by the warmth and strength of his embrace.
There are no obstacles between you now, just the urgency of a kiss that tastes like freedom and desire. His lips move against yours with a fervor you hadnât imagined, and you respond with the same intensity, as if every part of you is finally free to give in.
When you separate, both of you breathe heavily, as if not quite believing it. "I donât know whatâs happening, but..." Pope says, his voice betraying a vulnerability you didnât expect.
"Donât worry," you reply, trying to stop the tremble in your voice. "I donât know either. But I donât care."

Storm - Mouthwashing
A/n: It's 1am, but nothing will stop me muahahahah! Give my writing a chance and correct me if anything, English is not my first language and I had a LOT of help from the translator đŤśđ˝
â˘Pre-Crash!Captain Curly x Reader
synopsis/summary: You and Captain Curly talk a little during the night
Notes: I didn't specify the gender and I didn't talk about the relationship, it's up to you to see how you interpret it.
Drops of rain hit your window hard, thunder and lightning tormented you and took away your peace.
It was night and you were in the ship's kitchen, you couldn't sleep for some reason, but the silence and the moonlight projected on the huge screen were comforting.
Thinking of anything to occupy your mind, from how long a squirrel lives to worries about your current job, although you tried to push some of those worries out of your mind.
Somehow you got a job, only you didn't expect it to be here and like this, but it's good that you don't do much, it's good that no one got hurt and you need to take care of.
Due to sheer pressure, you ended up entering some area of medicine, although it wasn't exactly what your parents wanted, it's still something, but you would be anywhere else if you could choose for yourself.
You didn't want your parents to look at you like you had failed and disappointed them, it was horrible to feel like you were a failure, something they weren't proud of.
Do you sometimes wonder if a hospital would even accept you, would you want that? Maybe you would even do well? It's not what you want but-
"Awake at this hour?" A voice echoes lightly and a tired-looking captain is leaning against the door. You didn't even hear the door slam, you were so immersed in thought.
Captain Curly was one of the most easygoing guys you'll ever meet working at the Pony Express, and that's not to be rude, but there are very few people at that company who are easygoing with other people.
"Night snack break." You say with a shy smile, not expecting anyone to be awake at this hour either. "But someone emptied all the coffee."
He chuckles lightly before sighing, "I can't imagine who would be responsible behind such a crime." Curly rolls his eyes with a smirk on his face, then looks at you. "But something tells me that late night snack isn't what got you so focused that you didn't hear the door."
"Hmmm a captain really knows his crew apparently" You laugh a little and nod. "I was just thinking a little bit about... Everything, you know? There's a few more months to go, I think about 7 months or something and it's just as weird as it was in the beginning"
Curly listened carefully to what you said, as a captain he understood exactly what you meant.
Being in the middle of space for so long, with a group of people you're not used to, is quite something, especially for someone unfamiliar with being so far away from where they used to be.
Even he wasn't sure if this was what he wanted for himself, if this was the pinnacle of his life or if he should try something more and go beyond his comfort zone.
"So you feel like the things around you are devouring you little by little, you sink so deep into it that it's hard for you to get out. It's not bad, but you feel like it's not good." He tries to complete what was on your mind.
"You gave yourself away that you are or have been in the same boat captain" You look at him with a cheeky smile and start walking towards the couch. "or on different boats, but with the same destination"
Curly follows you right behind and also sits on the couch. You both stay in silence for a while, just looking at the moon.
"It's not the same as looking at the sky at night, but it's better than nothing I guess." You say without thinking much. It would be a lie if you said you don't miss being on earth, in your home and in the comfort of your room in your house.
"I think this when I look at the stars, it's even different when I remember that I'm in space with them, being able to see several everywhere.. Without light pollution" He says and another silence falls.
It wasn't an uncomfortable silence, quite the opposite, it was the most peaceful silence you'd had in nights. Just you, the captain and the stars, enjoying the company that each one could offer.
You look at the captain, wondering if there was anything he regretted doing in his life that brought him here.
It was no surprise that he knew what was bothering you in your thoughts, after all he is a grown man with experience in life, everyone goes through this questioning one day.
Uncertainty is what moves us sometimes.
You wonder if Jimmy is like that too, if there is anything he would do differently to be somewhere else or if he wouldn't change anything even though he might regret something...
He didn't seem much for talking about that sort of thing. Jimmy was always a mystery in his mind.
Him and Swansea. You knew very little about the two of them, but it's not like you knew much about the others anyway.
You knew that Jimmy and the captain were friends so he must not be as bitter as he seems, after all he wouldn't be where he is if he wasn't someone he could trust.
"So this is what they mean by staring into your soul" He laughs as he says this and you come out of your trance. You hadn't noticed that you weren't just looking at him out of the corner of your eye, but that you had turned your face to look at him.
You laugh at his comment. "Sorry, I didn't mean to intrude on the entrance to a man's soul." Sighing lightly you smile "Daisuke showed me a drawing of him yesterday, the boy is talented and expresses well how he sees places and people"
"Is that what you two were doing in the infirmary during lunch?" He asks curiously. "But I didn't realize you liked rock and metal, but the metalhead you drew looks nice."
"It's not a metalhead, it's Anya." You look at him like it's the most obvious thing and he's so dumb.
"Was that supposed to be Anya?!" Curly asked in disbelief.
You and he talked for a few more minutes, even though it was so late at night, maybe it would be morning in a few hours, but clearing your head at least a little was the best thing.
You yawned and realized that you were actually sleepy now. Curly yawns soon after and you both laugh lightly, agreeing that you would go to sleep now, wishing each other goodnight.
So the raindrops hit the window weaker, until they stopped completely, without thunder or lightning.
The next day you wake up dead tired, woken up by Daisuke questioning if you were still alive.
Soon you go to the kitchen together, talking a little about what you had dreamed about during the night. Anya was already there and so you and Daisuke join her, soon Jimmy and captain, arrives and-
"Whose metalhead drawing is this? It was lying on the floor" Swansea asks with the paper in his hand
"Not a metalhead!" You hear Daisuke chuckle and you swear you heard a chuckle coming from Curly.
A/n: I had another creative peak this morning and here it is, straight from the oven. I wish I had written something with Curly before writing something with Daisuke.đŤśđ˝đ

Would you? a part 2 of "She Wishes".
Recommend reading "She Wishes" before going down.
Warnings: Angst, a lot of angst. Regret... Emotional Out Of Character Wednesday
Summary: Would you come back if you knew how much she has changed? Pairing: Wednesday x Female Reader.
I donât need someone dragging me down, constantly whining about feeling neglected. If you canât handle that, then maybe you should find someone else willing to put up with your desperate need for attention.
Wednesday jolted awake, the voice still ringing in her ears, her own voice.
In her whole life, she had never been the one to be afraid of nightmares, yet she ended up like this, being unable to sleep because of the nightmare she created herself. It had been the same, night after night.
When was the last time sheâd slept without revisiting that moment, that night when she said those⌠words? She couldnât remember.
She dragged herself to a seated position, trying to steady her breathing, only to catch a flicker of movement on the balcony.
A figure stood there, perfectly still, as if waiting... just as it always had.
It was you.
She knew her mind was simply tormenting her, feeding on her guilt and grief, creating illusions to make her suffer even more. But in a way, she had come to accept it. This was the only way she could see you now, the only way she could be near you. She couldnât resist the pull, the familiar ache in her chest that begged her to walk toward you.
She glanced over at Enid, who was sleeping soundly on her side of the room. Fortunately, Enid could sleep through the wildest storms. Wednesday supposed it was a blessing; her friend wouldnât hear her break through the silence to talk with⌠you.
And there you stood, haloed by the soft glow of the moon, looking more beautiful than she ever remembered. She took in the way your hair caught the light, the way it made you look ethereal, almost otherworldly.
A year ago, she wouldâve never noticed something like this, but now? Now, she was all too aware. Painfully so.
She approached with quiet, as if you were something fragile she might shatter with her presence alone.
âYouâre here again.â Her voice was low, tentative.
You didnât respond, just kept staring up at the stars.
Wednesday swallowed, hating the awkwardness of her own silence, hating that she struggled to express herself even now, even when she knew you weren't real.
âI thought you might like to know how uneventful my day was,â she said softly. âNothing of interest happened. I went to class, ignored everyone, and endured the same dull routine.â her gaze lingered on you, trying to memorize every detail.
As she stood beside you, leaning on the railing, she looked at the moon, "Thing played a particularly irritating prank on Enid, it was suspicious. Thing would never hurt Enid's feelings⌠unless Enid told him to do so. She probably did to⌠lighten my mood, which to her disappointment, didn't amuse me at all." She glanced at you, half-expecting a response, though she knew youâd never answer.
You were only an illusion, yet you watched her so attentively, as though you were really listening.
A faint smile ghosted across her lips, sad and bittersweet. It reminded her of the way you used to listen to her back then, a year ago, when the two of you were⌠something. Sheâd always avoided putting a name to it then, but now, she wished she had.
âI⌠know I never asked much about your day. I assumed youâd tell me what mattered eventually, but⌠you used to talk about everything, even things I thought were trivial.â Her gaze fell, the weight of her own words settling heavily in her chest.
"And the irony is," she whispered bitterly, "even if youâre just in my head, you're listening more to me right now than I ever did to you."
Wednesday waited, as if expecting you to smile at her words, to nod with that knowing look you used to give her when she vented. You always used to tell her about your own day, too, in that same casual, almost rhythmic way.
She closed her eyes, trying to remember the things you used to talk aboutâbut it was like trying to catch mist with her bare hands.
The details were lost to her because she had never truly listened. Sheâd always kept her mind focused elsewhere, assuming youâd always be there, assuming your words would repeat endlessly, and she could listen when she felt like it. But that moment, like you, was gone.
"I donât even know if I remember what your favorite book was," she muttered, almost to herself "or your favorite subject...or our favorite moment." She swallowed, the words sharp as they caught in her throat. "I donât know why you gave me so much of yourself when I barely gave you a second thought."
She hadnât even realized she was reaching into her pocket until her fingers closed around the metallic edge of her smartphone. A tool she despised. She pulled it out, letting it rest in her hand, staring down at the dark screen. She hated devices like thisâclunky, bright, too noisy, too eager to pull you into a world she didnât care for.
To her, the smartphone was an obnoxious symbol of the modern world, a world she found lacking in anything genuine or meaningful. Yet here she was, holding it, clinging to it like a lifeline.
This ugly piece of plastic and glass, which sheâd once ignored with utter disdain, had now taken on a significance.
It was the only way she could reach you...
She found your number, just as she had every night for the past year. She already knew how this would end, the way it had every night since youâd been gone.
It always ended the same way, going straight to voicemail. Yet she pressed it anyway, waiting for that familiar sound. The ringing stopped, and the voicemail picked up.
She took a shaky breath, and then, she began to speak.
âHello, itâs⌠me. Again.â Her lips twitched in a faint, bitter smile. âI suppose that part was obvious.â
She paused, glancing over her shoulder to make sure Enid was still asleep, then turned back to you.
âI know youâre not going to answer. I know that. But somehow⌠I canât seem to stop myself. Pathetic, isnât it?â She let out a low, humorless chuckle. âI never thought Iâd be the kind of person to talk to the void, to cling to something so⌠intangible. But here I am. Just another fool.â She gripped the phone a little tighter, closing her eyes as she struggled to find the words.
âToday, I thought about that time you asked me to spend the evening with you. You brought snacks and books, and you told me it could be fun, remember? I scoffed, said it was pointless, a waste of time.â She swallowed. âBut you⌠you just smiled at me. You always⌠God, you always just smiled, didnât you? I never understood how someone can hide so much pain behind a smile... Now I do." She smiled.
The silence on the line felt crushing, a void that seemed to swallow her whole, yet she kept going. She had to.
âIf you were here right now⌠Iâd ask you to tell me about your day,â she whispered. âI wouldnât even care if it was boring. I wouldnât mind if it dragged on or if you rambled. Iâd listen. For once, Iâd actually listen.â
She took a deep breath, her gaze dropping to the floor as she tried to steady herself. âI miss you,â she admitted finally, her voice breaking. âI miss you so much it feels like Iâm losing my mind. I may already have...â She looked at your form in front of her, looking at her with such pity in your eyes.
"I donât deserve to miss you this much. I know that. I know that I failed you in every possible way, that I took you for granted. And nowâŚâ She trailed off, her voice shaking with the weight of her confession.
âI keep thinking, what if⌠what if Iâd done things differently? What if Iâd actually listened, actually cared about the things that mattered to you?â She swallowed hard, the words barely a whisper. âWould you still be here?â she sighed.
âI just⌠I need you to know that I would give anything, anything, to have you back. To have one more chance to show you that Iâm not the person I was back then. I can change. I have changed. I just⌠I just want you to come back. I just want to know one thing, Would you come back if you knew how much I've changed?"
The beep sounded, signaling the end of the voicemail. She lowered the phone, her hand trembling as she placed it back in her pocket. Her gaze returned to your figure, still there, still watching.
âWould you forgive me?â she asked, she had to know, just so she could at least sleep that night.
At that moment, your lips curved into that familiar smile, the one that always held so much pain and you whispered back.
âWould you?â

CBT and Exposure Therapy: Blitzø Showcase
An important (really, don't skip) disclaimer
If you are contemplating whether or not you would benefit from any kind of therapy, consider consulting with your medical provider first. While I did my best to validate all the points made using publicly available resources, I am not a medical professional. At the very least, I strongly advise that you do your own research and not take some amateur's opinion about a character from a silly demon show for granted.
"Everyone in this show needs fucking therapy STAT!"
We hear fans screaming into the void every now and then. Me too. I plead guilty and I willingly put myself in custody. But I am not taking these words back.
Especially often it is being said with Blitzø in mind, who, as hinted earlier and clearly shown in the latest episode, Ghostfuckers, is not doing okay. Not in the slightest.
Which is . . . yes. Indeed, trauma-ridden Blitzø is a major problem for both him and those around him. Yes, we see him reaching his lowest point now exactly because he left these gaping wounds untreated for so long.
But the tricky question isâhow, though? What to do? Will a good talking to a confidante help? Or, maybe, some kind of shock would snap him out of the spiral?
I've been pondering on this topic for more than 4 months, and, as the Ghostfuckers came out, I finally got all the data I need to prove a point. The show did all the job for me and effectively made Blitzø go through improvised versions of two popular therapy techniques. And, before I even start, I want to sayâI am so glad with what we ended up with. What they did, and, more importantly, didn't do, aligns well with how it would likely happen in real life.
So buckle up, and let's see where it gets us!
Therapy # 1. Cognitive-behavioral therapy, or CBT
This is, in essence and with some corrections, your good old talking. Here you can find more information about it, so, if you're not familiar with the topic, I recommend following the link first.
But, very shortly: CBT is an extremely common approach to be tried while you're dealing with anxiety, depression, and a number of other mental disorders. What it aims to do is to help you get past unhelpful thinking (distortions) and learn not to act on it.
Looks like it fits the bill, right? Blitzø has a lot of issues with self-fulfilling prophecies, infuriatingly stupid assumptions, poorly thought-out actions . . .
But he's not like, you know . . . w-we're not, like . . . we're not doing a . . . w-we . . . what's betwâ It's a transactional fucking, you see.
If you don't feel like coming, that's OK! I'm sure I can do without it for one month. :)
Stolas only cares about having a rugged peasant raw-dog him into his matress! It's nothing, ya know . . . it's nothing else.
You . . . no longer have any obligation to see me, to touch me, to bed me . . . You areâ you are free of me.
He sees things which aren't truly there.
It's not Stolas giving him space after the disaster in the 'Ozzie's.' It must be Stolas not needing him anymore, getting tired of him.
It's not Stolas caring about Blitzø. He is a royal, why would he care how an imp's day he happened to be fucking was?
It's not Stolas setting Blitzø free and putting an end to a problematic transaction they had with the hope for it to grow into something more. It's him getting rid of Blitzø.
As a result, he ends up hurting himself and the relationship he had with that one sad gay bird he happened to fall deeply for but literally trashed in his own house twice, acting on nothing more than frenetic fear of losing Stolas, but in reality, driving him away even more . . . for good.
I mean, you royal fucks think you can do this every time, like you can just play with our feelings because we're smaller and not as important!
Ha! I'm right, aren't I? You get off getting plowed by people you look down on!
And I can sorry more people, everyone but you! 'Cause I don't owe you dick! Everyone, but you . . .
So, the case's closed? Let someoneâsay, Millieâtalk to him and tell him how wrong he was about himself and the others?
Well, here's the thing. Despite him being infinitely wrong about Stolas's intentions, we can't deny the fact that every one of his beliefs was not, in fact, a distortion. It'd led him to wrong conclusions, yes, but it was built on the information he received and legitimate experiences he had in his life. Here are only some of the facts connected to only this situation with Stolas, but there are other problematic behaviors and other reasons for him acting the way he does.
Fact # 1. The circus fire did happen, and Blitzø was the reason for it. Unintentional, and of course it wasn't his fault, but it still ruined the lives of many peopleâhim included. Blitzø cannot act like it never occurred.
Fact # 2. Hell is divided by class and race. Their situationship with the grimoire was an embodiment of that inequality. A lot of Blitzø's outburst during the Full Moon and later in the Apology Tour was connected to it, to his beliefs that Stolas is the same as the rest of the privileged circle. Beliefs, I stress, justified by the real world. Stolas is more of an exception, and even then, his behavior is only different when it comes to Blitzø. He still acts the same toward other imps.
Fact # 3. We knew about Stolas's intentions all along, but before that fateful Full Moon, what Blitzø saw was Stolas avoiding him and not communicating the issue the Ozzie's date had raised. And before Ozzie's? Stolas did act entitled and inappropriate. He was baby-talking to Blitzø and used derogatory terms while addressing him. The dude literally called him an impish plaything in the Truth Seekers.
Fact # 4. Blitzø's heavily implied (though not officially confirmed by the show) existing conditionsâADHD*, BPD**, PTSD, and dyslexia/dyscalculia***âdo affect his life, and while Hell seems to be somewhat receptive of neurodivergence, he still has to deal with it every single fucking day. He is going to be avoidant and afraid to be abandoned at the same time. He is going to hate himself. His learning disabilities are going to make his life harder. No way around it.
Note: *, **, and *** contain links to separate meta-analyses from @timkontheunsure and @tealvenetianmask about the respective conditions and how they show themselves in Blitzø's case.
And my beef with CBT here is exactly that. CBT's goal is to gaslight you into believing your distortions hold no water and suggests you just ignore them. And, as I've shown with Blitzø, these reactions and assumptions aren't baseless. They are legitimate, and, in fact, sometimes help to get by. Even though it's a crooked crutch, you can't learn to walk properly by just throwing that crutch away. You're still going to limp, and oh, will it be painful.
This is oversimplistic and dismissive. Anxiety and depression don't come out of the blue, and with mental disabilities, it's even deeper. The class/disability stigma is alive and strong, and just slapping a "you're fine" bandaid on your traumatized self isn't going to help.
Therapy # 2. Exposure therapy.
Exposure therapy is another approach commonly used while dealing with traumatic past and its aftermathâPTSD, anxiety, phobias, and such. Again, if you're not familiar, there's the link for you, but very shortlyâthe therapist puts the patient in a safe environment and 'exposes' them to the feared object in question for limited periods of time. The goal is to eventually get rid of the targeted fear and decrease avoidance.
And Blitzø has got some phobias for sure.
The fear of letting everyone down. Again.
And the fear of abandonment. Again.
All of it is a result of self-hatred, sitting so deeply it rules his life and his vision of how others perceive him. Said it himself. Almost.
So, where and how does the show expose Blitzø to his traumatic past?
First, the most recent, and the most obvious oneâRolando and his slideshow of all traumatic events Blitzø ever had in his life.
SecondâBlitzø's drug trip in the Truth Seekers. While it does not contain the events of the past as they were, it does force him to face his fears.
Are you worried I might have enough of it one day as well? . . . You're going to die alone! . . . You're going to die alone, Blitzo!
With some stretch, the third one is Verosika's 'Blitzo sucks' party. Where Blitzø was forced to see the consequences of his avoidance and rejection.
Note: to be clear, I do think the party does not show the true extent of Blitzø's actions and how much he'd hurt people. It was exaggerated by Verosika, and here I explain why this is the case.
So, what gives? Or, rather, what gives it not?
It might sound funny now, considering I brought it up myself, but I, once again, say this is not therapeutic, just as CBT kind of 'talking.' If anything, all these three events did more harm than good.
The D.H.O.R.K.S.'s goal in the Truth Seekers was to torture the information out of Blitzø. He was not supposed to overcome it. He was supposed to crack.
The Verosika's goal was to ruin Blitzø's reputation. She was working her ass off to prove he's just a heartless freak.
The Rolando's goal was to fucking kill Blitzø.
And okay, their motivations had nothing to do with helping him, but maybe it did, in its own twisted way?
No. The writers added this to push Blitzø past the breaking point, not to heal him, and to show us more of his lore. Each time he was forced to face his past or fears or consequences, he was only spiraling more.
The only thing which did him some good was . . . well, Millie finally seeing his bravado mask falling off. But the cost of it was way too high. Not worth it.
To the therapy's defense, some points why it would never work in the way it was done in the show:
Blitzø had never given his consent and was not ready to face it. I might be very rude right now, but go and try producing some explosion-like sounds in front of war veterans without letting them know first and see what happens.
The amount of fearful experience exposed was way too overboard. He couldn't possibly digest it in a healthy way.
The environment was not safe. It was straight-up retraumatizing, an intentional one.
So there's that.
But what helped then?
We've briefly brushed over the fact Millie did talk to Blitzø. While I did imply this might be an example of CBT, here are some key deviations from the classic therapy which made all the difference.
Millie didn't sugarcoat all the shit Blitzø did. He was hurting their business. He didn't pay her. He was reduced to Bethanie. It showed her opinion can be trusted.
Millie apologized for not being there for him sooner. She admitted she relied too much on Blitzø being bulletproof, unbothered by everything. She admitted she didn't support him in a way he always did.
While proving she could never hate Blitzø, she used their common story, one he knows and can recall. She used evidence to prove him wrong, not a "it's all in your head" bandaid. And more than that, later she proved it with actionânot for one second did she believe Rolando and his shittalk about what Blitzø supposedly was thinking about her. Her unwavering faith spoke more than any words ever could.
Getting back to exposure therapy . . . Metaphorically, she reminded Blitzø he can handle a beating or two. And physically beat the infestor demon out of him, which, as we can see later, didn't really affect Blitzø that much. He wasn't even battered. So, apparently, when the said exposure is done by someone who genuinely tries to make you feel better and knows your limits well, it might just work?
And finally, Millie acknowledged Blitzø's pain. She didn't brush it away. She validated him.
What all of this is about?
Like every treatment, too much of a medicine can become poisonous. So are CBT and exposure therapy.
They might help, and lots of research shows they do in certain cases. But there are limitations to what they can and cannot achieve, and they have to be adjusted to each individual story, to each trauma, and they should not be applied as a way to mend the outcome of the trauma without taking into account the story it comes with. Again, legitimate concerns and experiences cannot be brushed away or ignored.
Actualy . . . we've seen where it leads in the show too. In the beginning, Millie was quite dismissive of Blitzø's worriesâall of this over a . . . breakup?
And here it comes full circle.
Only when Millie started taking Blitzø seriously, did it help them progress. And look how quickly we've switched from a complete despair to a glimmer of hope! Isn't that a beautiful closing scene?
As a closing noteâwe do not need to 'fix' Blitzø. After all this shit he went through, there won't be a day where he wakes up and be like, "Hey, I don't hate myself anymore! And look, I'm not afraid to be abandoned or misunderstood!"
I'm sorry to break it to you, but this is a lifelong battle. Being mentally whole, healthy, and constantly happy is no more than a myth, and everyone has their own demons and skeletons to deal with.
What Blitzø needs is some good support system to pull him back when he's down.
And boy, do I hope that one particular owl will fill in that role of unyielding pillar for Blitzø each time our lizard will fall into that pit again. Look, I love Millie, but there's only so much she can do. She can't be always present, she has her own life . . . and her own disaster of a husband to look after (affectionate <3). Here and here @lost-romantique talks about Stolas's capacity of loving, with me occasionally nodding, ha-ha. But to be shortâit's fucking immense. And since he loves words, I do believe he has all the energy to tell again and again and again how awesome Blitzø is. Even if Blitzø wouldn't believe it himself.
#I'm ashamed to admit how many times I did a complete rewrite of this thing#and how long did I put off this meta#but hey#now it's out of my system#also this fucking tumblr and its 30 images limit#forced me to delete some nice screenshots#but oh well#akira's whimpery metas#tw self-hatred#tw trauma#tw ptsd#tw abuse#helluva boss#helluva boss spoilers#helluva boss ghostfuckers#helluva boss meta#blitzø#millie#stolitz#stolas#stolas x blitz#stolas goetia#blitz x stolas#blitz

You wake up in the morning with a dull ache in your throat and the frustrating realization that you were struggling to breathe through a stuffy nose. You try to sit up, but as you move, your head begins to feel heavier, and every motion feels like itâs taking all of your effort. Every swallow makes your throat burn, and all you want to do is just burrow yourself under the covers.
The thought of getting out of bed seems nearly impossible now that the warmth of your bed is sucking you back into the land of sleep. You pull the covers up to your chin and close your eyes, hoping to sleep off the aches and feverish chill. Just as you're about to drift off, your eyes shoot open as you remember the day. You reach over to your bedside table and pick up your phone; itâs 11 a.m. You were supposed to be getting ready to go out with Taehyun. The both of you finally had a free day in your schedules, so you had planned a date. Just a picnic in the park, a way for both of you to relax and enjoy the outdoors.Â
You let out a groan of frustration. Of all the times to get sick, it just had to be now. You hold your phone in your hand, hesitating over the call button. You felt terrible about having to call Taehyun and cancel, especially since it was his idea in the first place; not only that, having to tell him you were sick was going to be a whole other mission on its own.Â
Taehyun is the sweetest man on Earth; you love him with every fiber of your being. Heâs kind, loving, and affectionate, and he always knows just what you need. However, he has just one minor flaw, and itâs turning into an overbearing, doting caretaker when youâre sick. Itâs completely overbearing; refusing to leave your side, he insists on piling you up with blankets, spoon-feeding you endless bowls of soup, and not letting you skip a single dose of medicine. He even tries every home remedy he knows, fully determined to get you feeling better before the day ends. While you appreciate his caring nature, all you wanted to do right now was sleep in bed unbothered.Â
With a sigh, you finally hit the call button, sitting up in your bed and breathing in quickly, trying to unclog your nose as much as possible and trying to sound as normal as you can. You clear your throat as you hear the sound of your lovely boyfriend on the other line.Â
âY/N? Is everything okay? We were supposed to be meeting up at 3, right?â Taehyun picks up a worried tone lacing his voice.Â
"Yeah, Iâm fine, Taehyun; itâs just..." You slowly drift off, hesitating to end your sentence. You let out a sigh and closed your eyes, bracing yourself for the worst. âI think Iâm coming down with something. Nothing serious though, just, you know, a little cold.â You quickly add, âI think it just might be better for me to stay home. I donât really want to get you sick.â
You hear shuffling on his end of the line and small grunts that you can only assume is Taehyun. âBaby, Iâll be there in 10 minutes.â He says hanging up the call without giving you any chance to reply.
"No, Taehyun its-â you hear the line beep. Defeated you sigh and put your phone back down on the nightstand to prepare yourself.Â
â
As you're lying in bed fighting hard to keep your eyes open, you hear keys jingling from your front door, and not even ten seconds later, Taehyun is at your side, his cold hand on your warm forehead.Â
âYouâre not burning up yet, but just in case, lets get you bundled up, hm?â Taehyun grabs blankets from your closet piling them on top of you tucking you in tightly to your bed.Â
âBaby, I can barely breathe,â you laugh watching him frantically try and tuck you in. You free one of your arms and grab him, steading him beside you preventing him from leaving to retrieve more blankets. âTyunieeeâ I missed youâŚthank you for coming over here; you really didnât have to though.â
âNonsense, you really think Iâd let you be here alone? Besides, I missed you too.â He beamed down at you and bent over to give you a shy kiss on your forehead. Just as quickly, he clears his throat and looks away from you, crossing his arms looking around nonchalantly. âNow anyway, back to business. I know you still have medicine here from the last time you were sick; where is it?â
You let out a giggle at his antics, âBehind the mirror in the bathroom.â
He nods curtly and makes his way over. Once he returns, his hands are full of different pills and liquids, all promoting to cure colds and fevers. âAlright, are you ready?â
âTaehyun, is this really necessary? I swear I'll be fine if I just get some rest; really, itâs not that bad.â You whine grimacing at all the medicine that he threw down on the bed. âYou being here is enough.â All you get in return is a disapproving look. You sigh and pout.
Taehyun runs out of the room and returns moments later with a glass of water. He sits next to you and opens the first bottle pulling out two orange pills. He grabs your hand and places the pills in the center of your palm signaling for you to put them in your mouth. You grimace and put them in your mouth and he hands you the glass of water. You take it, fill your mouth, and altogether swallow the water and the two pills. Before you can place the water down next to you, heâs already placing a cup with purple liquid in your hand. You give him a questioning glance.Â
âItâs for your throat, it should get rid of the soreness,â he explains, holding the small cup out to you.
âI thought only little kids took liquid medicine.âÂ
âExactly,â he laughs, pinching your cheek.
You begrudgingly take the cup and shoot back the foul tasting liquid making a disgusted face as the flavor hits your tongue. âEw, that's so gross no matter how many times I have it.â You look at Taehyun with a pout on your face. You raise your arms up towards him. âCuddle me?â You ask giving him puppy dog eyes and jutting out your lower lip.
He looks at you, his face faltering for just a second before he quickly straightens up and says, âNuh-uh, there is still more to do.â He races out of the room before you can protest. âIâm making you soup.â He yells from what you can only assume is the kitchen.
The pout on your face deepens and you let out a dramatically loud huff of air hoping that he can hear it and you cross your arms. âCâmon Taehyun just come cuddle me,â you whine âIâm feeling miserable the least you can do is cuddle with me.â
You hear footsteps getting closer to your room, anticipating Taehyun to enter You quickly turn on your side away from the door and close your eyes. You hear an exasperated sigh. âYou are such a handful,â he laughs and you hear him set down the bowl of soup on the table next to you as the bed dips and you feel his hand against your forehead. âYou feeling okay?â
You nod in response. âYou love me though,â You smile, eyes still closed ignoring his presence.
âThat I do, now câmon sit up so you can eat.â He grabs your arms and hoists you to a sitting position moving your pillows so you have something to lean against. He grabs the bowl and lifts the spoon to your mouth. âOpen up.â
You stare at the spoon and back at him, reluctantly opening your mouth allowing Taehyun to spoon feed you. âIâm not a child.â
âWhat are you talking about? Youâre literally my baby,â he coos giggling and offering you another spoonful. âY/N?â
âHmm?â You respond, mouth full of soup.
âYou can tell me to stop, you know?â
You choke on your soup. The sound of his words leaves you hurdling into a coughing fit, unable to catch your breath and your eyes watering. âWhat?!â You exclaim.
He pats your back soothing your coughing fit. âI just mean if it bothers you when I take care of you, just tell me to back off. I know I can probably be overbearing but I just love to take care of you,â He admits sheepishly. You notice his ears turning a light shade of pink and you canât help the sheepish smile that graces your lips.Â
You reach for his hand and give it a small squeeze. "Taehyun, of course I love and appreciate that you take care of me and I know that it canât be easy dealing with me being stubborn. I really do appreciate it.â You tilt your head to meet his gaze hoping he can see their warmth. âI just worry that youâll get sick.â
âWell even if I do, I know youâll take good care of me.â He laughs, tension dissipating from his body. Taehyun continues to spoon feed you until there is nothing left. âWell Iâm going to go clean up okay?â He gets up from his spot from the bed bending down bowl in hand to give you a light kiss on your forehead. âIâll be a right back cutie,â He winks.
âI donât think I look very cute right now,â you're getting drowsy now, the medicine from earlier is finally working its magic. âYou better come back soon mister.â
He just lets out a laugh before returning to the kitchen. You hear the sink begin to run as you imagine Taehyun is washing the dishes. As heâs gone you sink further and further under the covers, your eyelids feeling heavier as each moment passes. Not long after Taehyun returns, stopping in his tracks at your bedroom , noticing your sleeping figure. A small smile adjourns his lips as he takes light steps forward.Â
He kneels down next to you and his cool hand settles against your forehead. You flinch slightly before returning back to your peaceful sleep breathing soft and even. He frowns slightly at the warmth, a pang of worry pulls at his chest, finger lingering as if his touch alone could somehow relieve you of the fever. Reluctantly he pulls his hand back and his gaze falls upon your features. He takes his hand against and lightly traces your face. Along your nose, eyelashes and eyebrows. He tucks a stray strand of hair behind your ear eyebrows knitting them together in worry.
âPlease get better soonâŚI hate seeing you like this,â he sighs. He gets up from the floor and moves to the other side of your bed quietly slipping in under the covers. He moves ever so slightly as to not wake you and slowly wraps his arms around your figure. Instinctively you move so that you nestle on his chest taking in his scent.
âIâm here⌠and Iâm not going anywhere,â he murmurs, almost as if reassuring himself. âIâll stay right here with you.â
Minutes pass, and he finds himself listening to the soft sounds of the night, the faint rustling of blankets as you nestle closer, his own heartbeat steadying as he holds you. He finds himself slowly drifting to sleep, his eyes growing heavy as the room fills with the warmth of your shared breaths.
Just as heâs about to fall asleep, he feels your hand shift slightly, curling into the fabric of his shirt as if anchoring yourself to him even in sleep. A small smile forms on his lips, and he leans down to press another soft kiss to the top of your head, whispering, âSleep well. Iâll be right here when you wake up.â

Alright, I'm fueling the fire, ya freaky weirdos
Henry Hotline SFW alphabet headcanons
Henry Hotline x reader
âď¸Affection-
This man sezies every opportunity to show you that he loves you. Even if you're doing nothing. He'll compliment you, hug you, kiss you
Even if he is around Frankie or Deputy Duck, he doesn't care. Expect the best hugs you can get out of a cartoon character.
His go-to form of affection is definitely compliments and physical affection
âď¸Best friend-
If he's just your best friend, he'll always have your back. Need someone to vent to? Oh wow, he just so magically appeared next to you! Or you just want a buddy to hang out with? Well, good thing his show is just so happens to be canceled. He'll do anything for his closest friend
âď¸Cuddles-
This man LOVES to give cuddles. Even if he's busy with something like planning out his show or spending time with the contestants. He'll drop everything for you.
And let me tell you, when he hugs or cuddles you, he does not let go for hours. You could always ask him to let go whenever you want to, but we all know he doesn't want to lose you.
âď¸Domestic-
The truth is, he'd only do stuff if HE wanted to do it. If you ask him to mop the blood off of the floor or something, he'll look at you like you just lost your mind. Maybe if you give him a kiss or two, his might do what you ask him
But we all know he's a sucker for making you happy. So he'll do some chores only when you're not looking.
âď¸Ending-
Over the phone. Yes, that is a stupid way to break up with someone, but he doesn't know any other way that feels right! But don't worry, he'll never break up with you, he loves you too much! But he still has a plan, just in case
âď¸Fiance(e)-
Y'all really wanna marry a cartoon character? Same
He's not too big on the whole "Settling down, getting married, and starting a family" trope. He's fine if you REALLY wanna marry him. As long as it won't hinder his work and he still gets to talk in his talk show, then by all mean, slap that ring on his finger pronto! He doesn't have all day! or if you ever want him to give you a ring, just let him know
âď¸Gentle-
This phone guy wannabe loves you too much to hurt you. If there is ever a time when his headaches just get to him and he needs to let out some anger. He's leaving the room, and you won't see him until he's fully calmed down
But in normal situations where he's chill, he's so gentle around you. Kisses so light that you'll think you're touching a feather. Hugs so gentle it feels like you're hugging a teddy bear.
âď¸Hugs-
Like mentioned earlier, he gives the best hugs. It'll literally leave you craving more like some sort of sweet candy.
If you ever need a hug, you know he'll always give you one
âď¸I love you-
That's how he confessed, goofy! He was so nervous about asking you out that he just blurted out his feelings!
And don't you worry, he always reminds you anytime you need it. But when you don't, he still says he loves you! He loves you so much!
âď¸Jealousy-
Due to his massive ego, he tends to get quite jealous. Mainly around Deputy Duck and Frankie. Especially Deputy Duck. He can't help it! He just wants everyone to know that he's the one who loves you the most
âď¸Kisses-
Very very soft and passionate! Almost as if he's afraid to scare you. He knows how easily angered he gets due to his headaches, so he's just trying to make both of you happy.
He's angry? Give him one small smooch and he's floored
âď¸Little one-
Surprisingly, he secretly hates kids. Especially if they try to call him. Over and over again he has been called. He can't even look at a child without getting a headache.
âď¸Morning-
He does the most goofy lovey-dovey shit every morning. If you guys share a bed, he is kissing your face every morning. And if you don't share a bed, he always wakes you up with a kiss on the forehead and a soft "good morning, my dear"
I'm sorry but him saying "My dear" sends me
âď¸Night-
He has the most elaborate bedtime routine ever. Skin care and all. And he'd obviously sleep in one of those fancy pink night robes, also with a face mask.
Also, he sleeps like a rock. Nothing can wake him up. Not even a train horn. Except maybe a kiss or two
âď¸Open-
It'll take him a while to open up to you. Not because he's scared, it's because he's too flustered to say anything. But once he finally gets used to dating you, he starts talking to you about everything. His talk-show, his rivalry with Deputy Duck, his splitting headaches, and the list goes on and on
âď¸Patience-
Due to his constant headaches, he gets angered quite easily. And it can lead to some arguments here and there. Nothing too bad, just some petty words thrown. All you have to do is let him calm down with some time by himself. Once he's back to normal, he'll mumble about how he's sorry for being so rude to you and how you didn't deserve it. He'll never hurt you :)
âď¸Quizzes-
This guy remembers nearly everything about you. Your favorite restaurant, color, song, book. Anything! It'll honestly leave you speechless. Like, if you mention something you like a month ago, he still remembers it to this day. He really does love you.
âď¸Security-
If someone is bothering you, his hand is immediately on your waist or back. This man has to let everyone know that you're both dating. Not a single soul can split you two apart.
But normally, he's chill when it comes to being protective. He's not too overbearing about it
âď¸Try-
He goes all out when it comes to birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays.
On anniversaries, he lays flower petals all over, lights candles, and treats you to a well-deserved meal.
With holidays, he would help you set up anything. Need help putting lights up? He's tall. He's got it! Need help making food? Well, he'll give it a shot!
âď¸Ugly-
His ego. Sometimes you two get into petty arguments and he can't see past himself. It's what HE wants. It's all about HIM. But like I said before, he'll apologize for any negative things he's said to you.
âď¸-Vanity
This man spends HOURS in the morning just making sure he looks good. Even if you tell him he's perfect the way he is, he'll be flattered but he won't stop. Sometimes, he might even put on black lipstick or eyeshadow. He likes it when you kiss him and he has to redo his lipstick over and over again.
âď¸-Whole
He gets so lonely when you're not around. Yeah, he'll still go on with his day, but he'll be a lot less talkative and sassy. But once you come back, it's like a child receiving a puppy for Christmas
"My love! Where have you been?!"
"I was in the bathroom. . ."
âď¸Xtra-
Dance with him! He loves it! You could put on some swingy jazz or a soft romantic, he doesn't care! He just loves having you in his arms and spinning around with you!
âď¸You-
He talks about you all the time. With Frankie, with Deputy Duck, and in his talk show. He loves babbling on and on about his beloved! Everyone knows he's one for showing off, especially things he likes!
"They're so cool, amazing, glorious, funny, outstanding, and-"
"GET OU-"
âď¸Zzz-
OK this might sound weird but, he does snore but like not normally. Instead, his phone rings. Every time he breathes out his phone rings. And loudly too. If you share a bed, you'd probably have to either tolerate the noise or wear ear plugs
â---ââ---------------
Aaaaahh I'm sorry if this sucked. This was my first time ever writing something like this đŤ
Anyway, Henry is hot, you're cool, and goodbye
