I know this post is only for like two people, but I’m going to make it anyway. So, my obsession with Dead Friend Forever finally reached critical levels and I resorted to binge-watching The Hidden Character just to get more content. For those that don’t know, The Hidden Character (which they literally call “THC”) was the reality show Be On Cloud used to cast DFF. It is bad. Like really bad. And not in a it’s-so-bad-it’s-good-type way. It’s one of the most exploitative pieces of media I have ever watched. I walked into it with a favorable view of BOC, Mile, Apo, and Pond (the CEO), and walked out of it hating all of them.

A small collection of things that happened over the 11-episode run:

Everyone was told that they had to share every single aspect of their life with the viewers or they would be eliminated. And, in fact, the first person eliminated was told that it was because he wasn’t being open enough with the audience. They filmed these boys—one of whom was only seventeen at the time—talking explicitly about their sex lives. Which is, of course, fine to talk about. It’s not fine to air it on television! Even some of the games themselves contained sexually suggestive content (i.e. Which do you prefer "eating" with—your hands or your mouth? If you were to cheat on your significant other, would it be just sex or a full-blown affair?)

During the first part of the show, everyone had a secret that the other players were supposed to guess. One of the player’s secret was that he used to be homophobic. (Questionable casting for a company that only hires men, but I digress). He was praised for having changed his mind. In contrast, JJay’s secret was that he was raised in an abusive household and had once hit his father. Pond crucified the poor guy for this. He made him sit there in front of the whole cast sobbing and apologize for hitting his dad who was an abusive asshole.

After the first half of the show—which served absolutely no purpose at all—we finally move onto the acting portion. This is, after all, supposed to be a talent competition. The judges were so mean. Especially Apo. He was like the Simon Cowell of BOC. There was no constructive component to their criticism. The fact that any of these people are still acting is honestly unbelievable. I would have gone home and cried myself to sleep and then never stepped foot on a stage again.

At one point, each of the groups was assigned a scene from KinnPorsche to act out (because BOC very clearly owns no other IP). One of the pairs was given the scene where Porsche gives Kinn a handjob in the bathroom. I wish I was kidding. 

The judges constantly told the contestants to make their scenes feel new and different but any time the actors actually tried to change anything, they complained it was “too” different and the original script was already perfect so who were they to think they could create something better. Once again, Apo and Mile, the original actors of these scenes, are the ones judging them! Like of course they like their version better. What is even happening??

And finally, the whole fucking thing was rigged for Ta to win. Like don’t get me wrong, I love Ta and I think he did a great job, but he was the only one who came into that competition with a built-in fanbase and the winner was chosen by popular vote.

It was all just…baffling. Especially from a company that claims to be trying to change the industry. Like if you want the industry to stop being so exploitative to its actors, maybe start with yourself? It also makes those condescending “how dare you watch our shows just for the NC scenes” press releases they do every week even more annoying.

I have no clue what the reaction to this show was while it was airing but god I hope they never do it again. It literally makes me feel so weird watching DFF now. I feel like those poor kids are being held hostage. Maybe CEO Pond’s been the one under the mask the whole time 🔪

Further to this :

I’m posting one more time on this, and then I’m hoping I’m done. But I continue to see bad-faith takes on the settlement statements that were released this week, and I’m so done with the double standard from so many people in Kinnporsche fandom who have spent the past three+ months engaged in hypocritical bullying and victim-blaming and/or remaining damningly silent in the face of actual, public and visible abuse of Build Jakapan.

This wasn’t even a he-said, she-said situation. This was a months-long campaign of cyber-bullying, harassment and abuse – verbal, emotional and psychological – that Poi carried out against Build online, in the open, with no attempts to hide it. We saw her abuse him, repeatedly. We saw her be homophobic toward him, and not only did everyone who was ready to rush into battle against Build for supposedly being homophobic while making money off the queer community now stay silent about it, Poi got almost 10K retweets of it, so all those people who’ve wanted to cancel Build since last summer? We can see how much their allyship is actually worth. We saw the release of the VP novel with his bruised, bloody and battered face on the cover like some kind of disgusting revenge fantasy splayed out in public. We saw her release messages about sexual matters that were insinuated to be his private messages – which, like everything she’s ever posted, have not been verified as real and correct, in the setting of her admission of lying and faking and making false accusations with other material she released. But if they were real, the release of those messages would be on the same spectrum as revenge porn. We watched her commit outright theft of his belongings, and we watched her lie about his words and actions in an attempt to drive a wedge between him and his fans, we watched her punch down at those fans by invading their privacy as surely as she invaded his, we watched her make it all as filthy and gross and mercenary as she could in order to besmirch it as much as she could, watched her laugh about how much fans cared about him like he doesn’t deserve any kind of care or concern, like he’s a dog she can kick around without repercussion.

And antis joined in that abuse, plenty of people in the fandom were complicit in it – lies were collected and reblogged and spread around as supposed receipts of what a terrible person he was, by people who repeatedly represented themselves as “neutral,” without the least bit of concern for the provenance of those rumors, which were already in unbelievable supervillain territory and sure enough, turned out to be actual legal slander. People posted things like “burn in hell,” or made and spread vile memes when he left BOC like the whole thing was something funny, to laugh about, rather than a serious issue like accusations of intimate partner violence. He was called trash, garbage, an incel – at the same time people were vilifying him for supposedly cheating on Poi, so which is it? Is he an incel or was he fucking half of Bangkok? In one of the most breathtaking instances of victim-blaming I’ve seen in a long time, people amplified and spread the lie that he slept with Poi to get his role like it was some kind of gotcha, as if – had it been true – that wouldn’t have been evidence of Poi’s harassment and sexual abuse of him. The casting couch isn’t any less abusive when a man is subject to it than when a woman is subject to it. If it's gross and abusive for Harvey Weinstein to do it, then it would be gross and abusive for Poi to do it, and the way some people acted like it would somehow be Build’s fault? I’m sure every actress in Hollywood would love to hear that. Or would it be OK because he’s a man? Because that sounds awfully close to those creeps who say that teenaged boys should think they’re lucky when their female teachers molest them. (Or maybe when women in power over them on the filming set coerce them into giving massages?)

And as we saw all this happen – even as people patted themselves on the back and reassured each other that this wasn’t a witch-hunt, that it wasn’t an online mob working itself into a frenzy - 99.5 percent of the people who had been so very concerned with compiling and spreading everything and the kitchen sink during the initial feeding frenzy on Build went aggressively silent in the face of Build’s legal claims, including defamation, coercion and other abusive behavior by Poi. Suddenly, we started getting calls for circumspection and civility - aka silence - now that Build and his reputation and his career already had been savaged. Now that it was becoming evident that these same people were complicit in her abuse of him and had helped create the very scenario he said that she had threatened and kept him under control with. Now that they had helped an abuser get their satisfaction during what is traditionally the most dangerous time for abuse victims – when they try to leave.

Suddenly people were just done with all of this, just so very tired of it - now that the damage was done, and what was left was clean-up of the havoc they had helped wreak.

This fandom has done nothing to change my opinion that this whole debacle was never actually about genuine concern over intimate partner violence, but was rooted in shipwars - going all the way back to last summer, when someone went digging back through Build’s socials to find comments eight years old that could be blown up by Twitter cancel culture just as the Vegaspete storyline kicked off, VP was increasingly pulling attention, and BBB’s facetime was increasing. Not a single thing I’ve seen since then – since Build was identified as the soft target of the VP ship and discourse around him was poisoned by purity cancel culture – has convinced me otherwise.

People in this fandom took a deadly serious issue like intimate partner violence, and they used it as a tool for their petty shipwars, and they used it to get a little hit of self-righteousness, as a little “moral” crusade that allowed them to get their Two-Minute Hate on in a way that was deemed socially acceptable and gave them a taste of blood because it was wildly successful in the real world in a way keyboard slacktivism rarely is. It’s very telling, though, how much concern they actually seem to have for abuse survivors when they won’t even call out abusive behavior happening publicly, right in front of their faces. I guess some abuse victims do have to be perfect, or maybe it’s that some people do deserve to be abused, despite the claims when people were simping for Poi?

It’s very telling when their biggest concern appears to be using abuse claims as a cudgel to make themselves feel righteous - because it appears that’s all Poi ever really was, a tool for some people in KP fandom to beat Build with. If they actually, honestly gave a shit about her, someone would have shown concern about her mental health and whether she has any kind of support network at all, rather than egging her on, encouraging and amplifying her abusive and out-of-control behavior online. I’m not going to deny that I dislike Poi, that I’ve found her distasteful and incredibly off-putting since watching her behind-the-scenes behavior with the KP cast, including trying to yank Build to the edge of a balcony on a high-rise building as he tried to resist and laughing about being called out by Jeff for sexual harassment of a minor. But one of the things that I also found disturbing about this whole debacle was the way people encouraged and enjoyed - relished - behavior that ought to be concerning for her mental health.

And even now, I’ve seen people act as if the behavior that Poi and Build have admitted to in their statements was equally bad. Sorry, no, him secretly recording a conversation that was evidence of her abusive behavior is not equivalent to her faking pregnancy claims against him and insinuating that he was the reason she got an abortion or miscarried. I’m sure all abusers would love it if conversations in which they talk about their abusive behavior were kept private and secret, but I'm extremely suspicious of anyone who wants to act like that recording shouldn't be released - they should ask themselves why they're ok with abuse being covered up.

Would they call a woman who secretly recorded evidence of being abused a liar?

   (ETA 5/15, 1630 - Several people have messaged me to let me know this post has breached containment and is loose on Twitter. I would respectfully request that everyone follow Build’s own expressed wishes - and mine - and do not engage with antis. This includes @ing specific people with links to this. I could have attached individual names to many of the bad-faith behaviors I talk about in the post, but there are reasons I didn’t. People have already spent three months punching down at Build’s fans, as well as at him. The behavior of his fans reflects on him - however unfair that may be - and must remain above reproach. That includes not picking individual fights. If someone is encouraging this, consider that they are likely a plant, a fake fan trying to goad others into bad behavior to try to make Build look bad. If I find out anyone has done this, I will block you. Thanks.)

BOC posted today a vid filmed on Sep 28, where Mile and Apo encourage fans to buy the 'Making of Man Suang' photobook. What I noticed is the way Apo blows a kiss, to which Mile reacts with a cute 'oi' and then follows suit. Which is actually something they often do! Look at this cute sequence yesterday, when they were taping a live, and fans ran into them and asked for pics. You can see they first pose regularly, next Apo does a mini heart, then Mile does the same.

We also got pics of Mile and Apo on Sep 26 that I think demonstrate something I haven't had the chance to talk about yet. For his post-event outfit that day, Mile chose a Dior necklace. Now, if you're familiar with their variety of male necklaces, you know there are other ones that could fit his style, as well as another one with green (Mile's fave color), but Mile chose this, it's probably the necklace that best matches the one Apo chose, and you can really see it here:

Just for completion's sake, in this post I mentioned that I thought Mileapo had their own little private brunch while at the Musee des Beaux Arts on Sep 28, based on this pic:

I pointed out the items on the table fit two people, Mile and Apo, and that the bag on the chair opposite Mile was not Gift's, the only other person who seemed to have gone into the museum with them (if at any point I'll see indication she wasn't, I'll correct this), meaning it likely belonged to Mile or Apo (I thought the style was of a shopping bag from a gift shop. Turns out it's Dior lol). We got confirmation later that very day that it was Apo's bag:

Today Mile posted a whole bunch of pics from there, adding that it was a free day, meaning he confirmed they chose to spend their free time together (click image for better quality). He even liked this post from his personal account! ^u^

Lastly, from the Dior show on Sep 26, maybe my fave Apo smile. Because he's turning around to look at Mile. Many of the smiles at these events are professional, meant for the photographers or fans. They're beautiful smiles, often they radiate genuine joy. But this one is aimed at Mile specifically, so I love it the most.

4. MileApo at the Vogue Thailand Gala. Everything about them and how beautiful they were... Mile had just gotten out of COVID isolation #2 and now they had a Vogue spread and were mingling with the movers and shakers of the Thai ent industry. Also specifically these boyfriend soft launch selfies 😖

5. Paper Mile at the KPWT send off. This one was bittersweet and making the best of a bad situation... Apo was doing his best to have Mile be included but even Apo was not his usual sparkly self. The appearance of paper Mile per the request of quarantined Mile really put the smile back on his face.

9. Mile and Apo kissing live at KPWT Bangkok. I'm just going to make peace with the fact that we're likely never gonna see another live kiss at a KPWT show again. But we got this one.

10. Holding up the pride flag together at KPWT Taipei. Wasn't Taipei beautiful!?! 😭 It was a beautiful moment for the entire cast and the audience, since it was Pride Week in Taipei 🌈

Oh the #BOCDoYourWork? I'ma just post some screenshots from twitter to sum it up:

So the basic gist is that Pond, Mile, Apo, and Bible all attended an event called Red Sea International Film Festival. I want to reiterate here that this is actually a pretty big deal. The RSIFF is a pretty notable film festival on the circuit other filmmakers and celebs like Spike Lee, Sharon Stone, Guy Ritche and Priyanka Chopra all attended. And those are just names American's will recognize, a lot of international talent also made an appearance to discuss their films and filmmaking in general along with screenings of various films including some Oscar entries for the upcoming Oscar season.

It's a dope film event and a great networking opportunity for Pond, Mile, Apo, and Bible.

So apparently Build had an event as well at the same time, BuildxLancome was the hashtag. I'm not fully sure what the event entailed, I honestly do not keep up with the actors individual activities (I only know about the RSIFF b/c I keep up with cinema both for work purposes and personal hobbyist interest). I know Build has a collab or something with Lancome which to my known is a makeup brand/company. It trended as well - something like 1 million tweets - which is great!

Build fans are upset and claiming BOC is showing "favoritism" towards Mile and Apo (idk why Bible is exempt from this and all my speculation is uncharitable lmao) and not "treating Build well" as shown in the above screenshots. Specifically BOC's instagram posted two messages: one regarding the RSIFF and one regarding Build's individual event:

(It's important to put as many victimizing adjectives you can when you want to push the narrative that your fave is being mistreating ya know?)

You can read the full open letter here from some Build stans cause I'm not posting all that lol but imo there's a FUCKTON of projection going on there.

Personally, I think it's a lot of loud wrong people being loud and wrong but confidently so. It's hilarious to me because it's clear 1. people don't understand how PR and management work (especially since it's a lot of Americans what the fuck do any of y'all know about how the Thai entertainment industry works??) and 2. it follows a pattern I've seen in countless fandoms where fans wanna victimize their fave who are getting beaten down, or controlled or mistreated by a nebulous "They". I am a good 89% sure if Build, or Bible, or Mile, or Apo (since I've seen stans of all these people say they're all being mistreated by BOC at one point or another yet they're all being favorited by BOC as well too! Schrodinger's mistreatment!) left BOC and went to another company stans would still say they were "mistreated".

Why do I think this? Because I've seen it happen! See Louis Tomlinson who left his original management and label after 1D and his stans still say he's being mistreated.

Because ultimately this sort of hyper para-social behavior isn't about actually discussing legitimate structural mistreatment within the entertainment industry, because it's hyper individualistic and conspiratorial, it's about being a "protector" of the fave in question. It's about being "different" from the sheeple fans who just accept that all is good~ and by being a "protector" you are different, you are closer to your fave, you are special. This is the line of thinking that can slip into conspiracy thinking that you see with celebs like Benedict Cumberbatch - who has a contingent of fans who are CONVINCED his wife is an evil blood sucking harpy and maybe Yakuza gang member/sex trafficked and god they just have to save him from his fake marriage! Also his kids are fake too - but also a lot with Kpop stars, BTS members are constantly being placed under the "victim of BigHit/Hype" narrative.

Aside from the para-social nature of it all this also gives people something to "fight for" and a "purpose" which feels good. Throw in a community that echoes the same sentiments and you have a power keg of cranky ass, overly confident stans who think their very rich and well connected adult faves are being mistreated~~ and harass whoever the source of their ire is.

Is BOC perfect? Lol no but notice how it's only the four most popular actors under the company, the ones with the most notoriety, the most connections, the most demand, that are being "mistreated" and not actors like Perth, or Barcode, or Jeff. Ya know, actors with less pull and clout? Not to mention this also goes against what the actors have said themselves about BOC/Pond at numerous times but that doesn't matter because it doesn't fit the victim/protector narrative. Or that they've talked about their own individual goals and views on fame, the spotlight, etc that don't 100% 1:1 match with stan expectations and wants. These people aren't real, they're avatars for fantasy projections.

My #1 post of 2022

something i really like abt the 17776 satellites is that their personalities actually kind of align from the era they were created.

9 is confused and a little sad, but still learning to adjust to all the new people and despite always being potrayed as young 9 is older than 10. so it's like 10 is guiding their old grandparent around more than anything. even so, 9 is willing to adjust to the change (maybe because the pioneer 9 was launched near the start of a new decade, new era sort of thing) and actively likes to learn more about the new world theyve been thrust into similarly to 10

10's sort of a learned but still mannered (as much as she can be) person who, despite knowing Discoveries are a hope long gone now, still holds onto the ideals of knowledge and science and things that just make sense shown kind of through her psychoanalysises and willingness (and even desire) to answer all of 9's questions

juice is definitely the more Modern of the group being launched in 2022- actually after 17776 first released! possible we'll get new when juice in the REAL world gets launched. anyway, juice texts very informally and laidback with a lot of interest in goofy shit. even so he has the same sort of interest in humanity as the others, just in different areas like their more simple or silly histories like lunchables or Stepping on rakes and getting hit on the head by the stick part of it and then making fun of said people via text message. he's just a silly guy really, as are most people on the internet in 2022

bonus: i did listen to BoC the entire time i read it Specifically the half awake mix by Gabriel O. so now i associate the band with the series... i mean, music inspired by radio transmissions for a series about satellites which communicate through radio waves... probably not intended whatsoever but possibly why music plays during the videos alongside voice clips

I’ll admit, I’m not overly familiar with Gmmtv’s catalog of media. The shows I’ve tried from them, well, to be honest most haven’t worked for me - the ones that have off the top of my head are things like Love in the Air, TharnType, and the ambition of Not Me more so than it’s execution lol -  they produce so much media but most of their BL content is: 1) severely under-budgeted the sound issues alone on their BLs makes me just sad tbh 2) kinda boring tbh, just very same-y and I think that’s mainly due to the budgetary issues. This could be, in the effort of fairness, an misconception on my part since I haven’t watched a ton of Gmmtv shows but again what I have has been...okay majority of the time at best. 

I’m happy to see Gmmtv taking a few more risks with their BL programming with things like Moonlight Chicken and dabbling in office settings with Boss and a Babe and Cherry Magic adaption (which is apparently staring the actors who played Tum and Phone from today’s episode of MM). I expect at least in this version of Cherry Magic we’ll see the characters kiss lol 

But just to back myself up I looked at what I could find of their line up and it’s all pretty...basic?

Before anyone comes at me, I’m not saying a modern day setting, in either a university, high school, or office for romance is a bad thing. I’m not! It’s just kinda...boring for bitches like me that have zero interest in university settings and wants some variety. 

This is especially kinda frustrating b/c other shows I found in their line up, The Jungle (which looks fucking awful imo but w/e) and Double Savage have way more interesting premises? I note these two b/c they were listed on MLD under their upcoming BL/GL shows but it’s so so so clear via their trailers on youtube that these two shows are neither. They’re both het dramas, one in a seedy, bar setting that seems to be a sorta adult take on Boys Over Flowers and the other a crime drama. 

So yeah, I think it’s kinda a bummer that their BL/GLs are pretty safe in terms of content, and narrative. They’re all low-stakes romances in low-stakes settings (the newest and spiciest setting we have is an office woo~). 

Like you said, it would take very, VERY little to switch Khatha and Dome’s relationship up into soulmates/long lost lovers trope instead of this weird found family/brothers thing they keep trying to push. 

I’m glad to see more gays in crime - trapped, kinnporsche, chains of the heart all come to mind we can throw in not me as like crime adjacent lol - but gmmtv is really struggling imo lol like ppl can bitch about BOC all they want but kinnporsche was a smash hit in part, in my opinion, because it specifically offered something fresh and new (and didn’t sound issues), their historical drama film sounds dope, even 7 Minutes is a fresh concept. ngl in this regard it does bum me out. I really want more genre/sff based BL/GLs in the world. Kinnporsche (and others following it's footsteps or pre-date it like Trapped) so far was the closest we got since it falls under the crime/mafia genre that remained uncensored. The Untamed and Word of Honor def fall under that genre/sff range but they were unfortunately censored (I don't hold this against them it's just a shame).

But what I wouldn't give for something like Midnight Museum, with it's supernatural modernism mystery but actually including a queer romance at its center stage. I'll ship Khatha/Dome all damn day (and push for more fic to be made) but it does bum me out legit that genre fiction is still so reluctant to include queer romances in the mainstream.

Who knows, maybe Gmmtv will see the response and the way folks had been hoping for Khatha/Dome and next year or the following we'll see another genre show come along that will go there with the romance.

Yeh I mean this isn't the first time where I think GMMTV writers have used bromance in a very extra way that makes you go why didn't you just make it a bl? It would have been one of the best things to be seen as BL, from how we react to stories like Untamed I wish people would see fans are okay with more story telling and world building and two boys being in love with each other and getting together and being explicit about their love won't change the vibes or cheapen the story. I'm having a hard time with bromance used as a tool to remove the chance of directors making shows feel cheaper to them, there's this ideology in thailand because of the BL culture how BL works and how thats the only way it can be viewed, some people out right refuse to call their own deep show a BL (ITSAY) because it feels more than that to them, it really annoys me cause a bl can be just as great, and have a lot of depth to it and different worlds/narratives more than just that aspect. I'm more conflicted at the moment because Korea seems to want to take explicit bls and make them bromance, and that's been something as well as China which did it to censor and be homophobic, I know thailand isnt trying to do that well with this show, but i can't help but wonder, knowing GMMTV can bring something like this to life, why couldn't they have just made it explicitly romance and two lovers pining for each other, it wouldn't change any part of the script, it wouldn't change the way they interact so far in the show, it wouldn't take away from the plot it would have been the same thing and it would have been seen as a really great BL example to follow through with... I want more complicated stories, not just romance. But I will see MM as a bl even if its not because thats how I do shit, I did it with Gifted so meh, it would have just been so great to just get that confirmation that for once we got another GMMTV show that is both a BL and just so unique and different from how bl/queer shows is normally perceived

I know I should stay off certain fan takes but they bleed into timeline even momentarily, Twitter enables this a lot of the time.

But if I see another conspiracy theory about Mile and/or Apo mistreatment because BOC have favorites, I am going to scream.

The fans have reached a point where it's just intentionally reading malice into every move, and that is the most exhausting mindset to be in. How difficult is to not assume, to not keep track of what's happening with other people you say you don't care about, and to not just be covetous of what the other side gets.

Repeatedly: we do not know behind the scenes what goes on. There is a level of transparency that can be demanded, but not everything, because contracts with advertisers and other members of the creative industry still have confidentiality clauses built into them. Not to mention that event work guidelines will differ all the time.

This is specifically in reference to the perceived oppression of Apo and his popularity because he didn't get a flight send-off but BBB did, but no one knows or has been able to confirm if (a) his official FC requested, (b) Apo preferred to keep flight details private until last minute (which is not at all implausible as he has expressed discomfort with stalking/wanting to keep his "off work" time private), and (c) as BOC has tweeted there appear to be confidential details being kept re: his work schedule and it's likely some sort of other extra work he's doing beyond the released event schedule, that they'll want to keep under wraps until the opportune time to publish it. On (c) this is a normal thing that happens! Projects may fall through hence details aren't released until finalized and sometimes that's right before the actual release of whatever it is!

Not to mention there's a real indication here as well that BBB's event contract includes their preparation process which is likely why BOC approved the flight send-off. Largely for the optics as it's going to be filmed.

Or the fact where people alleged the release of Mile's WanDay was orchestrated to specifically make Mile and Apo "fight" on the hashtag charts or whatever, since it was filmed around August, but. This is wild to me how people don't realize it takes time to edit footage, and they were in the thick of preparing for KPWT Phase 1 which is probably why they're only releasing longer footage now (the Mafia Kindergarten eps are 15mins long at most, quicker to churn out), and they may have had it queued in even before Apo's event schedule was confirmed. But it's insane to assume they chose this date to "war" with Apo's schedule or hashtag trending.

Which also makes me uncomfortable how much policing goes into what the fans have to be doing to "be a fan." Like. Fans are allowed to not trend hashtags, or choose to consume content at a later time, or maybe even choose what activity to keep up with at a certain time. Why are people fighting over "how to be a fan" and calling each other fake for only committing to trend for one person or whatever. It's unrealistic. People have varying attention spans and interests, let them be. Let them have their fan experience as they want it. Hashtag trending is one aspect and should be a fun thing to do, not something weaponized at this point.

Like. I am not a company stan and I do not want to be one, but assuming malice right out of the gate is so wild when you could just. Wait for more details, or clarify things. Anything but jumping straight into "must defend" mode when no one is being attacked. Coveting and comparing is not something I expected to see in a fandom for actors, who all will get very different opportunities anyway according to their branding and preferences.

And I know BOC also instigated a lot of this as well with their past unprofessionalism but they have recently actually been taking steps in the right direction. They're becoming more transparent, responding more quickly (they postponed Mile's WanDay vlog as soon as the fan feedback rolled in), and accommodating fan requests where applicable. It is definitely not perfect, but I'm uncomfortable with the "damned if you do, damned if you don't" gut reactions people are continuing to have.

Look, I'm not saying they don't deserve criticism. But maybe recognize we don't know all the details behind the scenes, and there is a good reason for that (contracts! confidentiality clauses!). Also work to remove yourself from a cycle of assuming the worst because it can literally fuck up your reactions so much that you get mad over the seemingly innocuous, harmless things.

Remember, the KP cast are very much social media aware. They see everything happening in real time (👀 Mile), don't put them between a rock (BOC, the company they will work with indefinitely and have personal stakes in) and a hard place (their fans, whom they're all so grateful for and are trying their damnedest to please).

TL;DR Life is 100x better when you wait and seek out more information rather than assuming malice at every turn.

I think one of the reasons mileapo fans are always anxious is because of some the previous disagreements apo had with daemi? Maybe I am wrong, but there was some sort of twitter debacle right? Or am I misremembering?

I think some of the international fans relate to how john boyega or rose tico or even the female lead from the flash series were treated. While Hollywood has problems with racism, I think that they are anxious about the bl industry in Thailand. Like I have heard the actor duo isn't really into fan service and all and apo too had bad experiences with the Thai film industry in general

All that might be true. We have no idea. Maybe BOC is actually trash. Maybe Apo is being bullied. Maybe there is stuff behind the scenes that we do not know about.

But, we do know that:

1. They're busy

2. They were just sick

3. They don't like fanservice

4. They're incredibly private

And yet, fans think it's okay to force them into the public's eye.

Because all this behaviour is rooted in the "Why haven't we been given mileapo content" mentality. Yes, maybe some of them care about Mile and Apo, but most of the complaints put Mile and Apo together, like they are one person.

It's the entitlement for me. These people owe us nothing about how they choose to live their private lives or if they want to show up for an award show. I'm sorry to say this, but this is so funny to me. BOC doesn't owe the fans more of Mile and Apo's time.

I feel like it isn't exposure for these men's careers. Because Mile was recently at an event with Bible. So the issue isn't exposure. Cast members are doing social media lives. They're exposing the show. They're exposing their fellow cast mates by talking about them. They're talking about world tour. BOC's YouTube is putting out content.

Mile and Apo are synonymous with Kinnporsche. You cannot hear kinnporache without thinking about Mile and Apo. So everytime a cast member goes live, or anything kinnporsche-related happens, Mile and Apo are benefiting.

This concern isn't about them.

The concern is that people want to see Apo brush Mile's hair out of his face. They want to see them blush at each other. They want to analyse the progression of the ship.

Which is something ANY shipper would want. I think that's valid. If you want your ship to sail, you want new content. Which means, new outings, new moments, new everything.

But Mile and Apo aren't giving new content.

This isn't about exposure for them or Daemi bullying Apo. If that was the case, people would be asking for Apo, ON HIS OWN. They wouldn't be attaching him to Mile like an appendage.

But they're not doing that.

Because this is about the ship, not the men in the ship.

If a season 2 was gonna happen I thought KP would have still been the main storyline especially if you look at how the show ended. With so many questions about porsche's family, his mysterious background and this new dynamic with them both being leaders.

But I'm no longer sure about that and this is because of the following reasons:

1. I remember MA were in this farmhouse? event (Barcode was there too) and Apo confirmed a s2 was happening, boc had to do some auditioning/logistics or something before starting (this is what I remember). But besides KPTS there was this new project him and Mile were working on and fans should look forward to it. Obviously, Apo is going to promote his next project but I also felt— in the way he said that and how exited he was—that Apo/MA had moved on from KPTS. I put it aside for sometime and forgot about it but now it makes sense even more with the 2nd reason appearing.

2. Sprite confirming she might be in s2. "Might" so there are chances she wouldn't be there. But how could Yok not be there when she is part of the inner circle of Porsche (the main character). The only reason is because Porsche and Kinn are no longer the leads so their inner circles aren't as important to the main storyline.

3. Mile saying that he will stay with boc for a year and then focus on his career in ent. + family business. The one year with boc is for the film with Apo. That year would not be enough to film both the film and a s2 + promoting them.

Obviously, I could also be wrong but those are my observations.

No, you're absolutely right, anon. I have no disagreements with any of this because you're speaking my thoughts. The only reason Sprite/Yok would be in a season 2 is if Porsche is there. He's the only one she has a connection to. She doesn't have a connection to any of these other characters. Maybe that Tem (?) guy who was drunk in her bar, but that's not enough for people to care because Tem was barely a character to begin with. His story and his subsequent connection to TimeTay is a consequence of the novel readers, like I'm always talking about. Neither of these characters nor their stories mean anything to people who haven't read the novels. That's just the truth of the matter. We don't care about them because we don't know them and the show didn't give us an opportunity to really get to know them either, so ..  🤷🏿‍♀️

That year that Mile mentioned would mostly be spent with him and Apo filming, marketing, and promoting that movie. You're right, anon. That's not enough time to do all of that in regards to that movie AND film a second season of KPTS. It's not enough time, because I don't even think they've finished filming the movie. With everything they've been doing lately, they haven't had time to complete whatever they need to complete in regards to the movie. They may be able to drop in for guest appearances every now and then but I doubt it would be like it was where they're essentially in every single episode of the season and that's just not a show I'm willing to watch. Sorry not sorry.

I think some people are more worried about MileApo separating than they are about anything else, so they're unwilling to pick up on what's being alluded to in these interviews. I doubt they're going to be separated any time soon but it can always happen, and I would advise people to get ready for that if/when it comes. Even Apo is changing his tune in a lot of different ways in terms of actually promoting himself and not just the "family", and that's been an interesting thing to witness in real time. The way he's been on social media lately seems very similar to how Mile has been this whole time, and that's telling. There's been a shift, anon. Something has changed and we can't know for certain if it has to do with them wanting to move on from this show/BOC but I wouldn't blame them if it did.

But this is all conjecture and I'm willing to be wrong. It's just my opinion, and people are welcomed to disagree.

"Honey, before you say anything maybe you should think about this carefully." Jai cautioned with a hand on his wife's shoulder.

"What's there to think about?" She smiled meekly with a shrug. "This is good, really. It is."

"Good?" Cora echoed from her side of the screen. "I tell you that Richie and I are engaged and that is all you have to say?"

Nodding, although feeling a little unsure of her reaction, she spoke again. "What did you want me to say? Obviously this is good, it's great, really. How could it not be? You guys are in love and why not?"

She was caught between a rock and a hard place with Cora's news. If she reacted by throwing a tantrum, then she became a hypocrite. If she kept calm and remained quiet, then she risked giving herself and Jai away. They weren't entirely ready to tell people about their marriage.

They had been home from Paris for three days. In those three days, everything remained as normal. Denzi went about his daily routine, while she went to work, and Jai tinkered away around the house while hunting down his next job.

Perfectly normal, absolutely no suspicion to be had.

Something was amiss, Cora wasn't stupid. She knew her daughter too well, this was the very news that would send her only child into a fit of rage and selfish behaviour on any other day. At 33 years old she was an adult, but one didn't change their entire behaviour over night.

If Cora were any other mother, to any other daughter, then a birthday trip as extravagant as Paris would have her Mommy Senses tingling. Seeing as she wasn't any other mother, to any other daughter, a well planned trip was just that.

Birthday trips were common, as common as her daughter going to visit Jai on a filming location. If anything out of the ordinary was playing part in this reaction, the photos that Cora saw would have indicated something.

Trying to pull up the memory of the photos that had been posted to social media, Cora furrowed her brow. Aside from one of the pair standing on a balcony in bad lighting, Cora had nothing.

Scratching her head, Cora narrowed her gaze.

"Are you...Nevermind, BoC if this is you trying to save face then you may as well let us have it. Jai will only tell us about the fit you throw, later on," Cora replied glancing away from the camera. "Hold on."

In the background, off of the screen, Cora could be heard. Based on the few words that she and Jai had caught; Cora was talking to Richie. When Cora had made the call, she had explained that they wanted to tell them together, but Richie had a business emergency and Cora simply could not wait.

In truth, she knew that Richie had opted out of the announcement, because every time he tried to do something nice for Cora, her daughter threw a fit like a toddler. She couldn't fault him, it was pathetic and yet that hadn't stopped her before.

"Roo, if you have anything to say..." Jai began.

"I don't." She cut him off immediately. "I'm happy for them, really. Why can't you believe that?"

"Well, babe, you didn't exactly cry tears of joy when your mum moved." Jai hated to drag that up and yet, it summed up everything perfectly.

"I know, I know." Running her fingers through her hair, she folded her hands behind her head. "But trust me, I am happy about this. He's perfect for her and mom deserves someone nice."

Whoever the woman on the screen was, Cora was certain it wasn't her daughter. Listening to her daughter insist that this was fantastic, in an odd way, made Cora want to tear up.

"BoC, sweetie," Cora reappeared on the screen, Richie milling around in the back. "Richie wants to know if you're feeling okay?"

"Of course, why wouldn't I be?" She asked leaning over to grab her cup of coffee.

"Well, it isn't like you to take big news this well. He's just checking to make sure there wasn't a body snatching or something." Cora snorted in laughter.

"I didn't say any of that," Richie clarified coming into focus and leaning forward. "For the record, I am glad to hear that you two are happy about all of this. It's big news."

Jai nodded in agreement. This was major news! News that they certainly weren't expecting to get this morning, which made it even more exciting to see that everyone was focused on the positive.

"Yeah, hey listen, congratulations mate." Jai smirked, "You know what this means? We'll have to get together and hash out a buck's night."

"Uh, no." Cora shook her head feverishly. Laughing at the mere idea of Jai taking Richie anywhere for any sort of bachelor party. If that was indeed what he'd just said. "No, I am not letting you get him arrested, or worse."

"Oh come on, Cor." Jai pouted and did his best puppy dog eyes. "It won't be big and I promise, no strippers or coke."

"Okay, maybe some strippers, but no coke." Richie teased, nudging his fiancee with his elbow. "And no cliche all night bender, I know how you feel about cliches."

Everybody knew how Cora felt about cliches.

That comment of truth had even made her to laugh. Her mother was a woman of certain tastes, cliches of any sort did not fly with Cora.

"You know, if we let them have their night then you get one, too." She spoke up amongst the plans for Vegas, or was it Miami? Maybe Daytona Beach Bike Week? Depending on the date of the wedding, of course.

"See, hun, we'll have our weekend and you can take one too. It'll be fine, besides you girls could use a nice spa weekend or how about a nice wine tasting?" Richie grinned.

"Or maybe we'll fly out to Monte Carlo, hit up some hot guys to buy us drinks and spend their money? Oh!" Cora perked up, waving her hands excitedly. "Croatia! I hear they have some great yachting."

"A yacht in the Mediterranean, complete with cute boys in speedos, and lots of coke." She added eagerly, squirming around in her seat.

"The yacht and the boys, I can work with that." Cora laughed in a sheepish manner. "After 1978, I swore I'd never do coke or acid ever again. 'Shrooms, well...hmm, maybe we need to stick with gin and pot?"

Blank faces surrounding her, on screen and off, Cora glanced around the trio who stared at her open mouthed and slightly confused. Laughing and clapping her hands, she leaned back in chair. "What? Oh don't look at me like that, you all know I spent a year in a compound. What did you think hippies did, anyway?"

"It's how she met Keith Richards," She mumbled, leaning over to Jai.

Over the years, Jai had heard the stories, about Cora's time in the compound and her experimental lifestyle. In true Cora fashion, there was always something wacky and wild or so it seemed. One could imagine a long haired, tie-dye wearing Cora, not to forget the big sunglasses and hot pants. She'd heard all of her mother's stories, over time, most of the stories from that particular year included a lot of orgies and too many drugs. Some of the things, nobody ever needed to hear about their mother, but Cora was far from shy.

Only Cora could spend a year in a compound and, some how, make it sound like the most exciting thing in the world.

Quietly laughing about the casual way Cora had moved into the statement and back to the bigger picture, Jai understood full well where his wife had got her spark.

"Now that we have things cleared on that," Richie cleared his throat, chuckling as well. "How was Paris? Your mom seems to think you never left the hotel."

Rolling her eyes, Cora snickered. Based on the photos, aside from the one at a restaurant, there was a chance they didn't leave the hotel.

"We left the hotel," Jai replied, stopping when she interrupted to show off her newly acquired French skills.

"Paris, ç'est fantastique!" She beamed with pride. "And yes, we left the hotel. We saw the Catacombs, and we did one of those walking tours, where they give you a map and let you roam around."

"We only managed to get lost once, during the walking tour." Jai added with a triumphant smile. "Not that Paris is a bad city to be lost in."

"Oh, no!" She jumped to agreement. "It was gorgeous! I can't wait to go back, maybe next time we can stay longer and see a little more."

Jai went on to talk about the few things that took place on their trip, out side of bunking down in the hotel room, drinking too much and barely leaving the bed. It was a short tell, yet he made it seem like every day they'd been away was fast paced, action packed, and never ending. All without having to go outside of the truth once.

Deliberately leaving out any mention of a wedding or marriage, he looked to her, around mouthfuls of a violet crumble, to fill in a few details. Jai would get on her later, about chocolate bars this early. Mostly she smiled and nodded, observing. Half past 9, she glanced at the clock and wrinkled her nose. As much as she would love to sit and talk for the rest of the morning, there was work to do. She had decided to work from home today, giving her some alone time with Jai.

"I hate to break this up, but I have to get some work done. You guys can continue, don't mind me." She spoke above Cora, who was telling Jai about one of her and her later husband's trips to Paris.

"No, no I should be going, too." Cora's voice came back across. "I think we were planning on going out for lunch, if we're doing that then we should go."

On the other side of the screen, her mother and Richie began to move around. Chattering about lunch and how they hadn't meant to keep anyone from their duties.

"You're fine, I'm glad you called. I'm glad you two are engaged. We'll have to talk and work out all of the official details. You know, parties, the wedding, all that." She did her best to sound reassuring.

"Ideally we are thinking Spring, there will be time to work on all of that." Cora replied blowing a kiss. "I love you, tell Denzi that I love him, now go and get your quickie in, before work begins." She winked.

"Mom!" She groaned loudly. Jai laughing at the comment, a quick round between the sheets sounded like a great idea. Much better than his plans for taking Dorito out for a run.

"Sorry, sorry. I love you, seriously, have a great day both of you!" Cora blew another kiss.

"We will, I'm sure." Jai waved at the screen, telling Cora that they would talk soon, making sure to tag on a "Love you, too." he was about to end the call when Cora became mildly frantic.

"One more thing, before I forget," Cora urgently blurted, "Dan said not to worry about checking the house, while he is away next week. He is moving his girlfriend in this week."

"His girlfriend?" She furrowed her brow.

Cora nodded. "Maggie, Morgan, Moira? Something like that, apparently they have been together for a while, she's from Brisbane, too. Anyway, she's a nurse and she managed to snag a job in the US, to be with him."

Dan had a girlfriend? One who was serious enough he was moving her in? Had he discussed another person living in the house, with Cora? Why had he never mentioned this to her, in the few times they had crossed paths? Why did this matter to her?

"Oh, well, everyone is full of good news today." She forced an over the top smile.

(without saying his name of course) i know automatic translations can be wonky, but overall, he is making it all about himself and his feelings, STILL "both sides" the whole thing, and throws in a "watch the new ep of our show" (you know... the one they took away from build) at the end. the audacity that man has is just beyond comprehension. i truly hope karma will do its thing and ruin the company and that man's life.

I went back and forth a couple of times on whether I actually did want to respond to this. I have a lot of feelings and opinions about Pond and about BOC under his direction that I’ve rarely spoken about so publicly (although I have some suspicions, for Reasons, that some things I’ve said in semi-private spaces have been spread further than those spaces). I'm very aware that I'm at a cultural and linguistic disadvantage when I try to evaluate anything about Pond or BOC and that I'm therefore working with limited information. But I don’t think it’s a big secret I’m not a fan of Pond’s. From what I’ve seen, I think his behavior has been deeply problematic and unethical, and not just in relationship to Build’s situation - although the way he’s tried to portray himself as peacemaker during this whole debacle with Poi has certainly only exacerbated my negative impression. The best I can give him is that maybe he’s unaware of his own unctuous self-centeredness? So, while it would be gross and skeevy that he would 1) make something as serious as this all about himself and his own feelings, and 2) use it as a mercenary chance to flog his latest BOC property despite the fact that property no longer has anything to do with Build, I wouldn't be surprised by it.

Personally, I'm sorry that I gave him and his company the benefit of the doubt for as long as I did. Like many other people, I bought into the “big happy family” fan service for a while, before eventually accepting that it was just as much fan service as any branded pair, so, mea culpa on that front, right? But I think too many people didn’t and haven’t realized or accepted that, and that Build in particular has paid an out-sized price for it - including when people have put the blame on him for the cracks in the facade, especially in misplaced anger and outrage over the “leaked” DMs that threatened the happy found-family narrative BOC was selling and that fans want(ed) to believe.

I think Pond and BOC have been very good at manipulating fan sentiment into believing their self-imposed Hero Edit and self-promotion as industry disrupter, despite evidence to the contrary that goes back as far as the filming of KPTS, when Poi and Yok got away with sexually and otherwise harassing multiple cast members, including a teenaged Barcode. It extends through leveraging Barcode’s and other cast members' emotional response to Jeff’s departure to provide a show for a live concert audience, and forward to a reality show in which a bunch of young wannabe actors were pressured into exposing their worst moments, on television, for prurient viewer interest. Setting up Apo, of all people, to hawk skin lightener was a terrible thing to do and makes everyone involved a worse human being.

So, no, I wouldn't find this latest skeevy behavior surprising. I don’t know what Build’s hopes and plans are, as far as regaining a domestic career, and he's always seemed, publicly at least, to be far more forgiving of Pond than I would be in his position. I don't know if that's personal, cultural, or professionally rooted. But I personally hope Build has enough resources to allow him to avoid getting involved with Pond again, given the way Pond and BOC have treated him – from folding to a ginned-up harassment campaign so that Build was kept out of the public eye precisely when VP was airing/trending (funny, that), through leaving him to twist in the wind from the time of Poi’s first salvo of plagiarism accusations - which BOC apparently couldn’t be bothered to respond to, even though it was one of their properties at issue - to Pond standing around for a year and a half with his hands in the air like a bystander while Nong Poi publicly curbstomped someone who Pond claimed was a friend and part of his work "family," before sad-facing for the press about how hurtful it was that Build decided to leave the “family” that had publicly damnatio memoriae’d him.

Anyway, that's really more time and emotional spoons than I want to spend on Pond or his company - tbqh, they're one reason I'm semi-hiatusing at this point - so I'm likely done talking about them after this. But as usual, once I start, I talk forever, so here this is.

I didn't care for Twitter excessive's hate of Pond at first but I'm starting to think they're onto something. How does a CEO have that much time on his hand to follow all sixteen actors around on worldwide events? Who is really running BOC and meeting with investors? Just seems odd to me. You don't have to post the ask. I just want your opinion if you feel like it.

I don't disagree with this. I'm not sure I 100% agree, but it's not an unfair point.

Actually the first time I noticed it being... a thing was when Pond posted an IGS that he was with MA after the GQ MOTY award ceremony. I don't believe he was there for the event, he was with Jeff for another event that evening...I actually thought maybe they were meeting with Jeff for drinks after as a result but uh. Nothing materialized.

When people started commenting if he needed to be in Taiwan... well... no, he didn't need to be. I don't think it was weird for him to be, but I also don't think he needed to be either.

The fandom lore is that Pond owned an events company prior to BOC and this really feels like event manager behavior. On the ground, running around, making things go smoothly. With KPWT and what is essentially a concert, having all hands on deck and a master concert director makes sense. But for the Dior Taipei opening, it was pretty much the same as the Bangkok pop-up in that Apo stood in front of the store for a while and take pictures and did a shoot/press. That's what P'Gift is for and she does a good job of cat(tawin) wrangling. P'Gift would have been more than enough.

It's not that I think he did nothing in Taipei, but a very generous interpretation is that they're still understaffed and he was filling in for some sort of thing where a secondary event coordinator be needed such as coordinating the press while P'Gift coordinated Apo. A slightly less generous (but still more generous than fandom and at least professional) interpretation is that he's a micromanager.

As far as we can tell, Pond is legitimately CEO of BOC (and before anyone gets on my case about this, what do you think the word public in public records means?). He has 16+ artists, at least a few of whom he strongly feels like he needs to be in-person for, and with the BOC project announcement on the 18th and shooting for the period film beginning in Feb or March, it be one way he might be stretching himself too thin if he keeps doing this. There was a chance he went to Taiwan to formalize things with Dior, but actually with Mile's announcement and heading to Paris which is actually Dior HQ, I'm skeptical of that. Even if Dior comped the entire Taiwan trip for the team, I'm not sure it's a good use of resources because it's sacrificing time he/they could be doing something else.

It says something that Mile is the one who appears to be openly shopping for sponsors and Pond is running around at individual events doesn't it? BOC is a mystery and the behind the scenes likely will remain so for quite a while.

Listen, my bottom line about Pond is 1) yeah he acts weirdly sometimes and maybe not in his own/BOC's best interest and you certainly don't have to like him but 2) he's Mile and Apo's boss and will be the director of the period film so don't make this awkward for them, and 3) even if you don't like him, he's not going to go away so just ignore him if he bothers you.

The grace to know the things you can't change and the courage to change the things you can (your attention).

I was going to maybe condense most of the VP scenes into one reaction post, but EPISODE 11 IS TOO MUCH. It would turn into a dissertation. So, we’re just going to take this bit by bit, I think. There will definitely be some “vibrating like glass about to shatter” moments eventually, but this one’s a fucking journey.

OK, out of that entire initial sequence, the thing I found most viscerally distressing was the phone call to Pete’s grandmother and his reaction to it, which a) of COURSE I did, because if there’s anything Vegas knows how to do, it’s emotionally manipulate and terrorize somebody, I’m surprised he lowered himself to jumper cables and a baseball bat at all, and b) Build Jakapan and Bible Wichapas deserve every acting award in the world. Frankly, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that these torture and abuse scenes were more emotionally and psychologically taxing than any sex scene they’re yet to have, whatever kind of sex it’s going to be, and we’ve heard about the care that BoC took while filming the sex scenes, but I do hope they took the same kind of care while filming this material.

ANYWAY, I AM IN LOVE WITH BOC RIGHT NOW, because they just toss us right into the gd deep end at the beginning of the ep and leave us to swim or drown, and I’m’a take that challenge, because there’s a lot of crunchytasty stuff right up front, including:

1. A continued look at Pete vs. sex vs. violence, and how badly he handles sexualized situations compared to his stoic attitude about physical violence. Build’s doing a lot of fantastic physical acting here to delineate how Pete responds to Vegas’s physical abuse vs. how he responds when Vegas amps up by starting the groping and fondling. I find it kind of interesting that however much Vegas may be getting off on the power and control he has here – and I think we’re definitely seeing that he’s getting off on it, Bible is showing us that clearly, just by the look on Vegas’s face – I don’t think we see Vegas actually touch Pete skin-to-skin until he starts making things overtly sexualized. In the last ep, he used the jerry-rigged jumper cables, which also required the gloves, then this ep we come in immediately on him with the baseball bat, which he uses not only for the blows he’s giving but to lift Pete’s chin, rather than using his hand, in order to look him in the face. And it may be that’s helped Pete compartmentalize all this as something other than sexualized violence up to this point, but once Vegas starts prowling around him, moves to fondling and groping him – his shoulder, then around to his chest, into his boxers, running his finger along Pete’s hip under that tattoo – when we finally see him touch Pete directly, literally get his hands on him, that’s also when we see a shift in Pete’s demeanor. Unlike that steel faceoff we got last ep, we start getting little cringes, repeated attempts to shake off Vegas’s touch, along with increased unease and distress, explicitly asking Vegas “What are you doing?” and yelling at him that “I told you to kill me!” Vegas finally succeeds in rattling Pete when he makes the sexualized aspect of this glaringly obvious. And then he goes in for the kill. (i.e. Grandma)

2. THANK GOD we have some kind of almost reasonable explanation for why nobody in the main family is at all concerned about what’s going on with Pete. I want to punch Kinn in the face slightly less than last ep, when his dumbass forgetfulness was played for laughs and made me want to do nothing more than look him in straight in the eye and tell him that, yes, he is a shit leader, and no, he doesn’t deserve to have the loyalty of any of these guys, and then hopefully watch him cry. :deep breath: Having said all that, Vegas has set up a fairly plausible cover story, here, and I’m willing to be a little more forgiving, although Kinn obviously knows something is off and needs to learn to listen to his gd instincts if he wants to even stay alive in this game, let alone keep anyone else alive.

3. Did I mention how viscerally distressing I found the phone call to Pete’s Grandma? I found this super distressing, thank you once again, Build, for your PERFECT FACE and the utter fear and despair you’re able to communicate with it, when you finally surrender in an attempt to keep Vegas from calling her, and then how it keeps leaking through even as Pete tries to put on his fake happy smiley face with his happy smiley voice when he actually talks to Grandma, in what he’s got be expecting to be the last time he ever speaks to her. I couldn’t figure out whether to be horrified or weirdly touched that Pete was essentially getting a chance to say goodbye. The fact that he’s got Vegas up on him at the same time, groping him and licking his neck, further tearing him down by making this all explicitly sexual – this is MASTER WORK by Vegas. This is what he does, this is what he’s good at, and he’s turned a simple cellphone into a greater weapon than a baseball bat could ever be. I’m in horrified awe at this point, watching the scene literally with one hand over my mouth and the other over my heart, where it’s going to beat out of my chest. Then, add Pete’s completely helpless screams at Vegas afterward, when Pete’s had control wrested so completely from him and he’s so helpless and distressed and still so so angry about it all that he can’t even verbalize it, all he can do is gut-level vocalize it, and we’re only ten minutes into the ep, and I realize that they’ve brought me to tears. Literally. (ALL THE AWARDS.)

4. Vegas HATES the main family so much, and I don’t know how much of that is displaced anger that he can’t express over what his father has him do, and how much is reasonable anger for the positions he finds himself in for the benefit of The Family as a whole, which really ends up meaning the major family, since they’re the ones in control. Clearly he’s manipulating, as he uses everything to manipulate, when he has his supposedly heartfelt convo with Porsche at poolside, in which he talks about how the minor family has to do all the dirty work, but two truths and a lie, and how is it possible to do that kind of brutal work without becoming desensitized and brutal yourself? Then in this week’s “previously on,” they make sure to give us his Ep 10 dialogue with Porsche at the warehouse where he specifically calls the main family “filthy” and denies kinship with them, and again, is this displacement? Because I’ve met Korn Theerapanyakul, and I don’t trust that motherfk’r as far as I can spit (people aren’t chess pieces, asshole. Your children aren’t chess pieces), and I wouldn’t be surprised if Vegas has some legitimate grudges against the main family to bolster his obvious inferiority complex and whatever bullshit he’s carrying around from his own father. Then he twists the knife in Pete by asking if he thinks the main family would even look for his grandmother if she disappeared, and yes, that’s about terrorizing Pete via Grandma, but I almost feel like it’s also about driving a wedge in there, about trying to make Pete question the main family’s loyalty to him, whether it’s as strong as Pete’s loyalty to them (spoiler alert: hahahahahaha, we’ve already seen how interchangeable and disposable the main family seems to consider the Bodyguard Farm, swapping them around like toys, even without Kinn’s inexplicably dumbass forgetfulness about Pete in the dragon’s lair, so this is one of those sad situations when the worst person you know makes a good point).

5. Vegas tells Pete that he’s not going to kill him because he’s so much more interesting when he suffers. When Pete loses his masks. When he’s not the smiling face he puts on to re-direct suspicion. When he’s not the impassive stoic, the implacable observer watching Vegas take a man apart. When Vegas can see him - and at this point, he has to have Pete in extremis for that to happen, so that’s what he’ll do. I … sort of wonder if Vegas sees this as turnabout is fair play. I mean, Pete got to see him (although I suspect Pete hasn’t seen anything compared to what he’s GONNA see). And if all Pete will give him in return is a mask, well, Vegas will tear it off, if he has to.

6. It DOES NOT ESCAPE ME that Kun grips Vegas’s face when he berates him the exact same way that Vegas grips Pete’s face precisely at the points when Vegas is applying the worst of his emotional and mental torture – including asking what would happen if Grandma disappeared. Throughout this sequence, Vegas holds Pete by the neck when he wants to control him, he holds him by the face when he wants to hurt him – and in a way that he knows will not only hurt but will get a reaction, because it’s emotional rather than physical violence. And I find it extremely telling that he seems to have learned that from personal experience with his father.

7. I also find it very interesting that Pete got to see No. 6 happening. Mmhmm.
