The current dynamics of my fic writing 😔
What my kagehina fanfic writing is like:
Hinata: let's go play volleyball
Kageyama: you're such a dumbass
Hinata: no YOU'RE such a dumbass
.........
They make out aggressively. The end.
What my ushiten fanfic writing is like:
Tendou: Yeah, Wakatoshi is a really good friend of mine, my best friend actually, and we share a room, which is probably the only reason why he hangs out with me so much but we get on really well and-
Ushijima: I am in love with you.
Tendou: oh thank god
They make out aggressively. The end.
What my kuroken fanfic writing is like:
Kuroo: I love you. In a friend way :)
Kenma, not even looking up from his game: okay.
Kuroo: ...
Kuroo: haha, you got me. I'm in love with you.
Kenma: okay.. can you leave..? I'm about to get to the next level...
*is making him and kuroo kiss in the sims*
Kuroo watches distraught as their sims make out aggressively. The end.
What my tsukiyama fanfic writing is like:
Yamaguchi: *exists*
Tsukishima, internally: god I'm gay. He can never find out about this
On the flip side...
Tsukishima: *exists*
Yamaguchi, internally: gaygaygaygaygaygaygaygaygaygayga-
Oh you know they make out aggressively. The end.

This article is so ridiculous that I don't know If it's a joke or a real article 🤣 :
I mean, I'm queer so don't interpret my rumbling for what it's not. I'm Aro Ace so maybe I'm over bored by hyper sexualisation/hyper romantisation in the entertainment for this reason too.
But as a queer myself, I'm double pissed at how our community wants to see queer romantic relationships everywhere. It's not just queer community, though, it's the same whatever orientation. Every kind of relationship is labelled as romantic (in the actual interpretation of the word). I'm all for representation but I don't understand this need to see queer romance in everything.
Yes Sam says he loves Frodo. No, loving someone and saying it that way doesn't always include sexual/romantic attraction.
I think, it's actually what's pissing me off the most. The romantisation of every relationship in adaptation and cinema. And in books too. I'm sick of people sexualizing LOTR (and a lot of other universes), devaluing its emphasis on friendship, comradery, and fraternal love by suggesting it must all have some sexual undertone.
The fact that the work of Tolkien isn't sexualised and or focus on romance of any kind at all is one of the things I like the most. Why do people need to change this to make the story fit their biased definition of norms and love (and yes it is including queer community as I think this community is not as tolerant, unbiased and open-minded as queer people wish to show to the world).
As an avid reader, I think that everybody can interpret their reading as they wish. And we all do. That's how it's working. But the freedom of the reader is not the same as the intention of the author.
When Tolkien was accused of writing LOTR as an allegory he responded, "I think that many confuse applicability with allegory, but the one resides in the freedom of the reader, and the other in the purposed domination of the author." I believe that painting rainbows on Sam and Frodo or Gimli and Legolas is squarely within the realm of the freedom of reader, and not the intent of the author.
There's all kinds of male-on-male devotion in LOTR and some of it is indeed "romantic," but it's more Arthurian, not slash.
People tend to romantise everything now and in my opinion, it's, more often than not, focusing too much on romance dynamics and not enough on what's essential in a good story (character development, plot, intrigue, world building, consistency...). That's how you find so many badly written shows/books/movies now with plot holes, incoherences and flat character development.
So yes, characters are touchy, close, and easy to speak about feeling with strong words. But it's not sexualised and not romanced in the books.
What's "funny" is that we first started to hear about those romantic ships in LoTr after the release of the movies only 👀 yes you can interpret what I just pointed at me saying that fandoms born from adaptation (show/movie) are not the same as fandoms born from book material only. It definitely was my intention.
But coming back to the books, I'd say, It's one of the most beautiful demonstrations I have ever seen, of how platonic relationships, kinship and friendship can be strong. Going beyond the hate or fear there is between races and beyond past and politics. To place loyalty, respect, friendship and kinship above everything. United in difficult moments, trials and loss.
If you take a look at how romantised is TROP for example, it's illustrating exactly what I mean. This show is the most expansive fanfiction I've ever seen. I like it don't misinterpret my words. But only because I take it as a fanfiction and not as something coming from Tolkien pen directly. and it's pure typical nowadays production and interpretation as we see everywhere now. Romantising what's not. Sexualising what's not. People ask, they produce. Whatever what the initial work was.
So please, write fanfiction as much as you want, draw ships that are not here in the original material, I love the fact that people find solace in fandom to be creative.
But don't romance/sexualise everything, every time. It's everywhere. And as people ask for it, that's the narrative we are given systematically in entertainment and adaptation even if it means taking too much liberty. And I'm not speaking just about this article unfortunately.
"Those who cannot conceive Friendship as a substantive love but only as a disguise or elaboration of Eros betray the fact that they have never had a Friend."- C.S. Lewis

Random thoughts about Enchanté
1) The Enchanté book in the show -> it's not actually a real book/novel, is it? I can't find it when I search for it or the 'author'. Anyone know any more?
2) The whole deal with Akk supposedly 'not remembering'... In ep 1, Akk actually seems to remember or 'collect' things from their childhood. It's suggested that he forgets short term things - like the take-away food in ep 1, going back to his job in ep 2 etc - but not the long term stuff with Theo. In ep 1, Theo remarks several times that Akk remembers things, or Akk even says, "remember you used to stay over all the time", or he makes and keeps that promise to not eat at the ice cream place without Theo... So the idea that Akk's 'forgotten' something from their past, or that he forgot Theo (like some people have talked about), doesn't seem consistent. Pretending he forgot maybe? But what and why - to protect himself or Theo? Any thoughts?
3) So Jimmy is the elusive Sun 👀 Apart from squealing when I realised, I thought back to someone's crack prediction that Sun could have somehow orchestrated the writing in the book from France...because of Sun's reaction to Theo telling him about it...and then I thought, what if Sun is the rose? (he's wearing red) and then what if Theo actually ends up with him?! 😂 But I don't think that's where we're headed. It is interesting how he might have more of a presence later though...
4) To all those people saying it's too early for Akk and Theo to kiss in ep 5, or too early for that scene - we got that epic kiss in Bad Buddy at the half-way point and the series only got better after that. Who's to say that won't happen again? I'm actually quite excited for the dynamic of their relationship to change once they have kissed...just like it did with Pat and Pran. Bring it on! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Note
I mean people can ship whoever they want all they want, but the mate bond is made at the person's birth. Elain has had her mate bond made since she was born, the cauldron didn't make one for her. And about the smell, in the room there was Feysand and Nessian mate bond too. People usually forget that.
I don't know why people want to change the opinions of others. I hope you are well.
Now my question: which ships will you write for? i'm embarrassed to ask for a ship that maybe you don't want to write about lol
Thank you, that's very sweet! 💕💕 And I agree. Ship who you want, but respect other's decisions.
That's so kind, thank you for asking!!! Real quick, I do prefer doing AUs. Mostly modern, but I'm down to try other AUs, just not crossovers into other fictional worlds. I don't mind the idea of being in the canon world, I just have more fun making it an AU where I can offer some slight adjustments to the characters cause they're lives would've been different.
Offering some explanations as well for certain pieces. :)
Definite Yes:
Nessian, Gwynriel, Elucien, Rowaelin, Lysaedion, Connor/Bryce, Danika/Thorne
Have Not Done but Willing To Try:
Emorie*, Neris**, Elorcan, Nestaq, Dorian/Fenrys*
* At this point in time, I would not be comfortable doing any kinktober (or just kinky) prompts/requests for them. Not because I think it shouldn't be written, but it's an attempt to avoid accidentally crossing a line or being offensive. It's not that I don't understand the basics for how same sex couples have sex, it's just a desire to avoid writing it poorly or in a way that is accidentally hurtful to those within the LGBTQ+ community. Hopefully, one day this will be different for me, but for now I would request to keep these couples PG-13 - making out, grinding, some groping, sure. Romance, absolutely. Or just flirting, innuendo, we all know I love that shit. Until I decide to take it to the next level. And I'd like to do more research and reading in this area before I do so, become a more practiced writer in the area. I hope you understand. 💕
** I make no promises on how Cassian would come into play. Possibly best to avoid if you want a truly, in love hea, though. I'd probably make Cassian Nesta's mistress. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Tentative, Let Me Explain:
Feysand - I think for the right prompt I might be willing to do Feysand, but that couple just doesn't really inspire me a lot after ACOSF. But, the right thing that's just so them, I could see myself doing.
Manorian - I would prefer Fenrys + Dorian over Manorian, cause I just love them, or at least my headcanon version of them. It's not that I don't like Manorian, I enjoyed them in canon and was rooting for them, to an extent, and it's not that I wouldn't want to write Manorian. I just worry about how well I'd write Manon. 😂 However, with the right prompt and mood, I'd do this. I'm also okay with a Manon + Dorian & Dorian + Fenrys dynamic, but not a threesome thing. It's just that I headcanon that Manorian would've been an open relationship...enter Fenrys for Dorian. 👀
Not Willing At This Time:
E*lriel - I really want to say I'd be willing to write e*lriel, just because I want to be that cool, but at the moment I'm not there. Due to my own feelings and interpretations on that relationship, that would be a tough one for me to write while trying to keep characterization consistent. Maybe one day, but at the moment, I'm not in a place to write them, and especially not to make them good. I'd rather people get that content from those who will do it well.
Vassa - I know, she's not a ship. But any Vassa ship I'm not willing to write at this time, mostly because I just don't know her well enough to be comfortable writing her.
Hellion + LoA - Same story as Vassa. LoA is very unknown, and while I don't mind creating new characters, when using actual characters that exist, I do like to try and stick to their canon characterization to the best of my ability.
Bryce/Hunt - Nothing against Hunt. I was rooting for him in HoEaB. I just prefer Connor and prefer to live in a world where Connor is alive. And, if Connor is alive, Bryce is with him. 👀
