Honestly all the conversation about "x or y made me stop watching anime," I've never heard anybody bring up mythological window dressing

Like I will never forget the frustrated anger I felt having watched God Eater with friends, seeing all the mythological connections and drawing conclusions based on them, and quickly realizing it all meant nothing. I was so fucking mad I gave the show up immediately! And it's something I've seen used in a lot of series over the years, and avoided as a result. Other than just not hanging out with as many people watching anime, and just being much older than most show's intended audiences, it's probably the biggest factor contributing to my drop in interest in anime.

Interestingly Evangelion is completely admittedly a very successful use of mythology window dressing but somehow the plot and events are so big-picture and nuts that it works anyway??

I know that he may be not good at it but would he try to comfort her? If so them how would he do that? Poseidon didn't know how to be a father, nor he did have an example to look up to. According to mythology, his father, Cronus, had swallowed him and his siblings, fearing they could overthrow him. The closest to a father he ever had was his brother Hades, whose sense of responsibility he greatly respected. It was following his brother's steps that shaped his behaviour as a parent. Poseidon wasn't the best father around - he would never admit it out loud though - but if there was something everyboy knew was not to make an enemy out of his daughter. Whether a god or a human, he didn't care - the sea would rise, the earth would tremble beneath his fury... but first, he had to make sure his daughter was fine!

When Poseidon saw her rushing to his room, tears streaming down her face, he saw red - then calmed himself down. Later, he would definitely take care of whoever dared challenging him by hurting his dear child. He isn't familiar with the way children are meant to be comforted, but he's a god, so, of course, he'll manage to find a solution! The whole Greek Pantheon will kneel before his daughter's if that's what will make her feel better; the sea monsters who live in his domain will become her playmates if that's what she desires... gold, pearls and gemstones, anything one might wish for would be hers if she were to ask for it. Yet, his daughter doesn't stop crying.

Nothing seems to be enough though... Poseidon almost sees himself in that frowning child. It is Aphrodite who finds a solution, after glancing at that child. Poseidon never thought that would be the day he asked the goddess of love and many other things he couldn't care less about for advice.

"Sometimes love is all you need, a bit cliché, don't you think?" she told him, "There's no need for richness or jewelry, Poseidon", she continued while the God of the Seas kept quiet. Aphrodite sighed. "She needs her parents' love, instead of running around all day, just stay with her!" she laughed eventually, while Poseidon kept staring at her, wide-eyed, a terrifying expression on his god-like face.

Poseidon doesn't know how Love works. He never thought he needed something as trivial as that. And he never thought his child might have needed it neither. He had to change his mind, just this once, when he finally saw his daughter drying her tears, as he hugged as tight as he could (Poseidon couldn't even remember if he had ever been hugged before), despite not knowing how. He thought it was silly to follow that goddess' advice, yet, here he was, hugging a child - his child. And Aphrodite was right, though Poseidon was too proud to admit it. A smile replaced the frown on his daughter's face, as he struggled to remember a lullaby that was once sung to him too.

You have a baby dream and upset it wasn't real

You woke up because the sunlight was hitting your face. You sat up, but it felt like a difficult task. You looked down, and you saw that you had a very pregnant belly.

You immediately looked beside you to where your husband usually slept. He wasn't there, so you shouted his name. You were terrified. How could this possibly happen overnight!?

The door to your shared bedroom opened so fast that it almost fell off. Your husband immediately was by your side. He asked if you were ok, if you needed to go to the hospital, if something happened to the baby, and much more.

That made you more confused. How was he not panicking about how you had a large pregnant belly? You shouted at him about being pregnant.

He looked at you with confusion. He replied that you've been pregnant for 7 months already. Of course, he thought maybe this was one of the side effects of your hormones being everywhere.

He helped you out with the baby and dressed you up in comfortable clothing. He led you to the table to eat breakfast and even fed you. You looked around and saw a few books about babies.

The rest of the day went by calmly. You came to terms with the fact that you were carrying your husband's child. You both spent almost every minute with each other. He would always love to rub your belly and laugh when the baby would kick his hand.

He treated you like a queen and did most chores around the house. He didn't want you to do too much labor because of the baby.

You both soon went to bed, and he helped you get comfortable. He would cuddle you from behind and have his hands on your belly and caress it.

You woke up, sat up, and looked down. Your pregnant belly was no longer there. That's when you realize all that time you were ‘pregnant’ was a dream. You shook your husband awake and whined about being pregnant.

Qin Shi Huang:

It took a while for Qin Shi to wake up. Even when he woke up, he was still half asleep until he heard you say something about being ‘pregnant’.

He sat up quickly and listened to you whine about having a dream of being pregnant with his child. He laughed as you explained the dream.

He stopped laughing when he saw how upset you looked. He hugged you and ran his hand through your hair. He continued to listen to your pleas of having a child and thought about it.

He thought it would be nice to have a mini you or him in the palace. He would be able to spoil them whenever he could. In addition, an emperor needs a successor at some point, right?

“It's alright, my empress. I wouldn't mind having a small child or 2 running around the palace.” He said

He then placed his hands on your hips, “You know we could start the process right now. I wouldn't mind~”

Nikola:

Nikola woke up the moment you shook him. He worried that you had gotten hurt, possibly by one of his inventions. Thankfully, he saw you weren’t and listened and asked about your dream. He rubbed your back as you pouted and whined.

When you told him that you now wanted a baby with him, he went into deep thought. He would need to have another room for the baby, meaning less space for his inventions. In addition, he would have to baby-proof countless things.

You sat there for a good 30 minutes. He was taking it seriously. You had to physically touch him to make him come back to reality. It was adorable whenever he would be lost in concentration on something.

He said that he would love to start a family with you anytime.

He looked more cheerful about the idea than you. Heck! He’s already beaming with joy as he takes your hand into his.

Nikola would probably already be creating scenarios in his head, including how the baby would look, how he would teach them, how he would create inventions from them, and many more.

“Do you have any names in mind? I most definitely do!” You had to remind him you're not pregnant yet. “There’s no harm in already thinking about it!”

Hermes, knowing this, slowly walks to retrieve the baby and bring it to Zeus.

🥀 Instead of getting angrier, Adamas sighed and laid a hand on your shoulder, making you face him with your flaming hair and eyebrows beginning to go down to resemble a calming campfire

🥀 He wished you luck and kissed your nose as you held his hand and kissed his palm in return before melting and moving down the many hallways towards the entrance into the arena for your fight

🥀 Adamas walked back to his stand alongside his brother, Zeus, and nephew, Hermes, and waited as he listened intently to Hermes' predictions for the battle. Thankfully, they were all in your favor

The first thing that came to mind was to smash her face. Anger was like a poison coursing through his body. Femme Fetale, that's what it was said of that woman.

He quickly expelled the poison from his body. He was still a God after all, and a poison couldn't just kill him.

A hurt pride could make Poseidon do anything.

At the beginning of creation, God lived in our hearts and beliefs. Our beliefs have guided us. A drop of water fell on the earth, slowly grew and created vast seas, reaching the oceans. He passed through the forests, crossed the isolated valleys and reached the peaks of the mountains.

The more we saw, the more we stopped believing, the more we stopped believing, the further we moved away from our God. Our sacred things that we have grown within us have turned into objects that we worship. He became alienated, faded.

Yet the ocean was everywhere. He united with the sky and guided humanity.

The first to betray was the creature again. The ocean was known for its pride, its limitlessness, its anger.

Well, I think that depends lol.

Logically speaking, you'd have to be I guess dead or whatever to be in Valhalla (As you can see I have not interacted with Record of Ragnarok in a long time), or a god. So would individuals still have bodily functions? Buddha eats a lot of junk and I'm sure self-grooming/hygiene still is a thing. So I guess?

ANYWAY, I personally think that Shiva would tease his darling about sensitive things, but not so much as to be disrespectful or nasty.

"What's with your fidgeting? Hey, dont avoid me... Oh, ohhhh I see. Come on now y/n-" Shiva wouldn't be mean but he would slightly be a jerk about it. Especially if you're anxious or shy. Maybe even a little annoyed sometimes.

With bathing, he's kind of a romantic, so he would coax you into the idea. Shiva isn't all that perverted. He has 3 wives and you. He's been grown now cmon 💀 While he does love you and your body, the thought of simply rubbing in the foam of the shampoo into your hair as you both sit in warm water sounds greatly relaxing. A nice change of pace compared to the usual cold distancing.

If you're unsure or against it, Shiva will respect your opinion but will always bring it up with every chance. Man is desperate. He will even have his wives push it to you as well.

Jack was unaware of love for much of his life. he knew that now.

And he was fine with that for a long time, he found certain forms of comfort, forms that others did not understand, abhorrent and unforgivable forms, but that gave him the closest feeling he would ever experience to euphoria, adrenaline, love.

Of course, until he met reader.

Even if Jack never thought about the future after what happened with his mother, he didn't really see himself worthy of being a father himself. After all, what could ensure that he wouldn't end up repeating the same mistakes? What if he didn't love his children the way he should? He couldn't imagine anything worse than that. However, the reader made a special place for herself in his life.

Jack felt something with the reader that he did not feel with many people, almost none, sympathy. From living in poverty to having a parent who didn't genuinely care about you. But above all, being unkown about affection. The love. This girl was never loved either.

In her he didn't simply see a daughter, he saw what he could have been if he had had what he longed for so much, love. For the same reason, he could not allow himself to stain his daughter's innocence with his “work”, with his customs, with him in general. He had to make sure this girl had everything he couldn't have, a prosperous life, an education, maybe a family of her own, a bright future that he wouldn't dim.

And he was proud of the lady she grew up to be, intelligent, gentle and educated. The only thing Jack really regretted in life was not having been able to live longer, to see what his daughter's life would be like in the future. will she have had children? any husband? It's not like anyone was worthy of her anyway, maybe she dedicated herself to studying? She was always very intelligent and observant, if times were different, he did not doubt that she would reach the most brilliant men of the time.

Unfortunately, there was no way for Jack to know about it. After all, it turns out that actions do have consequences, especially in death. He was in Helhaim for more years than he could count, completely deservedly so, but at least he was grateful that no matter how many years passed, Reader never appeared there, even if he missed her company, it was better that she was in the place she really was. deserved, away from him.

However, something changed one day. When the fate of all humanity depended on fighting the gods.

Even if Jack had some preparation time before his round, they didn't give him permission to go find the reader (or even let her know he was there), because if the other souls in Valhalla knew about it they would probably be angry, hysterical even, plus they had to focus on the fight they would have. Which left Jack more distracted than usual until it was time to fight.

If there was one thing Jack hoped for, that he wanted with all his being at the moment the fight started, it was that Reader wasn't in the crowd. She was no better than him, she was gripping the skirt of her dress very tightly, and trying very hard to keep her head up. she blinked a lot, trying not to cry in front of him. Not now.

He was going to say something, he had to say something, maybe a “I'm sorry” or “forgive me” but before he knew it, his daughter rushed at him in a golden rush, wrapping her arms around him in a tight hug. Jack could feel himself almost crumbling inside as he heard his daughter sobbing against his shoulder, tears threatening to fall from his eyes as well, as he gently returned the hug.

He and the reader sometimes could not communicate their emotions well, even with his special eyes, Jack could not know exactly what the reader felt at times, so she resorted to these types of displays of affection or physical actions, ways of saying what What was happening, no talking, just actions.

And now, almost two centuries later, that same custom remains, while Jack hugged his daughter, a hug that he waited years to be able to give, that he understood again the message she wanted to convey to him.

I don't care what you did, I don't care what you think, you are my father, I am your daughter. I love you.

And that was all he needed.

Nikola cares. Nikola cares a lot actually. You could tell by the way he looked at the lab, the grip he had on those papers, that fire in his eyes when he saw the lines of chalk mixing together.

But he didn't say anything, not a word. Why? This mess you proudly stood in the middle of seemed all for naught. That's fine, if you can't get to him with his work, you'll just have to try with your natural charm instead.

Nikola sat in front of his chalkboard after cleaning up the mess you created, prompting you to sit next to him watch in confusion at whatever nonsense he wrote down.

And so this went on for months. Tesla meets a dead end and you offer a helping hand to him. You weren't supposed to stay this long, but he's basically your emotional support human now.

Today you ended up creating a small scale sun, sure maybe the brightness and heat had a bit adjusting, but it was pretty much the real thing.

"What do ya think of this, human? Haha!" You laughed, showing off what you were capable of. What you got in response was praise, "very fascinating! It's radiant, just like you," Nikola looked at you and smiled.

Your face began to heat up and you turned away, "well don't get too excited now, this is only the beginning!" You crossed your arms and looked at him with conviction.

"I look forward to what you have in store for me," Nikola responded before running his tests and theories.

Record of Ragnarok Theory - Loki the killer or eye destroyer

Before I start I want to put my name under the list of Loki's fans. I haven't been so active here, but this doesn't mean anything. You see, I love this character from heart with all his flaws.

After thinking and talking about it a lot (especially with @hankiki) and waiting for more information, more and more puzzle pieces fall into place, but we all still don't know the real motive. Maybe Chapter 92, 93 will give some important pieces to work with.

Because of this new mesage on Buddha's shirt: a bunny with two 'x' where the eyes should be and the writing "oyasumi" on it, it looks like a hint. Considering the last message on the shirt which actually showed the future, it makes sense to look closer at this.

I have already said once, that it could mean the death of Buddha or that it could be a false hint. But I also think that this message could simply mean an terrible injury of both of Buddha's eyes. The lights go out - good night (oyasumi).

An old idea, that Loki could be responsible for killing Buddha in the future suddenly makes more sense when Loki is also responsible for Siegfried being held in prison. Buddha is investigating now and if Loki has something to do with that... he will find out.

Let's say Loki put Siegfried in prison to get him out of the way, away from Brunhilde and no one knows about it. What if Buddha finds out and confronts Loki with the facts he has? Loki would not let him walk around and spread this information, especially not when Buddha has an evidence and maybe knows about Loki's secret feelings towards Brunhilde.

What can he do? Kill Buddha? Well, that's not so easy. But what, if he finds a way? If he can not, Loki can symbolically take his eyes as an act of revenge. Those eyes have seen too much. This wouldn't make things better for Loki, because it wouldn't stop Buddha from probably exposing him to the world, if Buddha's state wasn't as critical as Quin's at least.

- Not only that but it was Thrud who had let you stay with her, noticing how uneasy and paranoid you were because of Loki and vowing to protect you from him. Yeah, maybe he liked to make you miserable and isolated and by his side but he highly doubted you needed protection from him.

- Although protection was such a laughable word considering the fact that despite Thrud's muscular and giant build, he was more than confident all it would take was a simple flick of his wrist to end her.

- So he goes over to the Human's side to grab you and drag you back to him, everyone avoiding him as he walked to the Valkyrie's quarters with a dark and heavy aura that radiated with anger and bloodlust.

- He didn't have to walk too far since he heard you in the garden...talking with Thrud. He stormed over to you, yet he stopped in his tracks when he heard what you said to her.

- "Thrud, you truly are the most beautiful person in heaven." You sighed, making Thrud flustered but she smiled and shyly thanked you for the compliment.

- He...he feels something weird. It's in his chest. It feels like an ache of some sort? The word echoes in his mind as he clenches his chest and stares at the ground. He already knew he was attractive, even when you did call him ugly, and it didn't bother him. So why...Why does that hurt so much now? Beautiful. Why does he feel cold when he sees how joyful Thrud looks when you tell her that.

- That moment of sorrow passed by quickly and he's already enraged but he just walks over and hugs you from behind. Thrud gets up to try and hurt him but he just puts a blade on your neck and is all: "Thrud! What an unpleasant surprise! I'm sorry but we really must be going now! C'mon, (Y/n)!~ I've missed you terribly!" and Thrud is helpless because she doesn't know if he'll actually hurt you but when she tries to follow after, you just give her a sad smile of defeat...which breaks her heart.

- When he drags you back, he throws you roughly against the wall and pins you to it, using one arm to cage you and the other to roughly seize your chin. He looks at you, nothing short of furious but seeing how terrified you are of him at that moment, it makes him smile. So, he gently asks in a soft tone that lacked affection and tenderness, "Tell me I'm beautiful, (Y/n)."

- "...You're beautiful." You answer him, your eyes filled with terror. The smile on his face grows at your words, even if he forced you to say them, and he just pinches your cheek lovingly: "Oh, you're too cute to stay mad at~ Lucky you."

This is mostly to explain why in my au the human fighters need to be woman

•since Ragnarok as a whole wasn't taken seriously the gods decided to agree on account that all the fights should be pretty woman so they can essentially just gawk at them but also for brunhilde to struggle finding any fighters at all. this obviously backfired on them but that's a future thing

•i also hc that the goddesses in ror have either lost their will to fight or just never had them. if the gods never had a threat on earth, it would justify this level of pride and just relax them into pacifism or a 'let the others handle it' attitude. it's the blood thirsty gods looking for a fight that actually fought. maybe it's cause of some sort woman should sit and look pretty mindset or maybe most of the greek goddesses just don't exist besides moves but I would like Ragnarok to be a bit of a waking call on the au

•another thing is that the female fighters essentially had better things to do. besides the ones that just didn't care enough or had the mentality that someoen else would do it, most of them weren't just fighters. they were woman who were rulers and had families to care about (as cliche as that sounds), most had tragic ends and had finally reunited with their loved ones and didn't wnat to give it up to a battle that (in their minds) was already was decided. Artemisia might've been a coward for giving up before the round even started but she had a point. this is why there are so many (albeit comedic) posts about Brunhilde and göll recruiting the fighters. it kind of just boils down to that one meme of why women live longer than men

•buddha still gets to fight on R6 on account of the technicality the human fighters on side of humanity need to be women. no one said anything about immortals.

•to note on why the female fighters wouldn't have participated in canon is mainly because Brunhilde was the one picking the fighters and all the fighters in the au had a slightly lower chance of winning just based on statistic (also to explain why canon and au have the same win-lose rounds)

queen I had another idea for a scenario AU involving our Percy

everything happens the same way it is happening in the fanfic but instead of being transported just two years before Ragnarok it is transported hundreds of years before

At that time, Percy lit up and was recognized as a goddess of humanity, much loved by people and gods

She is known as a very sweet goddess who is always helping and asking for mercy for humanity, she is also known for appeasing the murderous anger of her husband (and the other gods, NO ONE can resist her SUPREME cuteness)

yandere love happens and she ends up marrying Poseidon, she gets pregnant and has a son who she loves very much, despite becoming a goddess she remains the same loser Percy we love

Centuries pass and ragnarok finally arrives and that's when everything goes wrong for our dear loser

In the third fight, instead of Poseidon fighting, his son his the firstborn is called upon to fight. Let's imagine that instead of volunteering, the names of the gods were initially chosen randomly by some magical item

so it was a surprise for everyone, Percy goes into despair and begs him not to fight but her son ignores her he is SO eager to prove that he has some value to his father, to prove that he is a suitable God, he just wants the approval of his honorable father

at the end of the fight he loses (the opponent is not Sasaki, I love that old man so much that I wouldn't dare think of a scenario like that, the one who killed him was some other human opponent, let's imagine that his opponent was Julius Caesar or someone of that caliber)

Maybe the fight is a "draw" species where Percy's son died first and then the human fighter died from his injuries it would be better for him that way because if he survived he would face torture worse than death humanity would win by default already that even though both fighters died, the fighter on the side of the gods died first, like the fight between Zeus and Adam in which the losing fighter was the one who gave in first

the human audience is celebrating but the divine audience sat in an unsettling silence for a minute before a heart-wrenching agonizing scream was heard

Percy was screaming, she tried to throw herself into the arena but she was caught just in time before she fell, they had to restrain her tightly because she was struggling and screaming for her son, tears were flowing as she watched her son disthenappear

there was a massive killing intent from all the gods and goddesses present, Poseidon was momentarily in shock his son died, his eldest son died, he and percy love all their children but that was the eldest and the eldest son always occupies a special place in his parents' hearts

Now Ragnarok was no longer a game, now it's personal and every God present wanted to avenge Percy's pain she is the most dear and loved goddess, she only distributes love and mercy to humans so how dare they repay all this good with BETRAYAL!? HOW DARE THEY KILL HER MOST BELOVED SON!? HOW DARE THEY CELEBRATE WHILE THEY HEAR HER SCREAMS OF DESPERATION!?

From that moment on there will be no mercy for humans, only the strongest gods would fight and they would fight without mercy or pity, now the only objective was to avenge Percy's loss and those most full of hate are the yanderes less because they liked the boy and more because they know what how much percy loved him

Meanwhile the Valkyries are desperate, it wasn't part of the plan for Percy's son to die, they didn't know he had been chosen to fight this was the only fight they wanted humanity to lose now humanity is still running more danger more like certain death and the only person who can appeal against this fate is currently inconsolable and inaccessible due to the mourning of her son's death and due to the overprotection of the yanderes, absolutely no one is allowed to approach her at this moment

Hercules' plan failed before it even started because after the pain that humans caused Percy, the chance of the gods sparing them is negative

the atmosphere is more than tense and everyone is waiting for the next fight, the humans are even more terrified than before and the gods are determined to avenge their beloved Percy

(I couldn't think of how Poseidon would react since I can't write about her without it being completely out of character (OC), can you add some of your thoughts? for poseidon's reaction, i don't even think he would have time to grieve properly (or let himself). he's got a dead son to avenge and a grieving wife to comfort.

this is probably one of the few times i actually feel bad for this dude cuz he pretty much represses himself and puts all his focus on caring for percy instead of taking care of himself. his grief will be channeled into murderous rage and hatred. maybe once all the humans are gone he will finally finally allow himself to properly grief his son 😔
