Thinking about CQ siblings again and how they work in my head and I want to infodump aaaaaaaaaaa (it is very late at night)
Error and Geno
OG Error does not care that he was Geno. At all. But I imagine Geno cares a whole lot that an alternate path of him specifically becomes the destroyer of worlds.
So you get Geno trying to talk to Error, to befriend him at least, (Aftertale Papyrus already calls Error his ‘secret fourth brother’).
That throws Error through a loop. Hes used to people running from him. They should run from him, he’ll kill them he cares so much for his family he can’t kill another Papyrus.
And Geno sees that. It’s why he doesn’t give up, he can see his own traits, where things got worse or faded away with time and whatever Error went through to make the two separate.
The point is, Geno feels a bit responsible for Error’s destruction as they were once the same person. He tries helping Error change his ways to be a better person, remembering how Sans acted with him in the save screen when he had a similar mental state.
Error does not appreciate being followed around by his past self. It probably makes his distraction worse at first, seeing a version of him that didn’t fall into the antivoid. If Error never admits it, Geno has what Error wants.
They both want something from the other, in the end. That’s what keeps pulling them together until they become comfortable in eachother’s presence.
Error and Fresh
The most fascinating things to me about OG Fresh is his lack of emotions. Sure, he’s a silly goofy guy who collects furbies and cracks old lingo like nothing, but it’s all a survival tactic. 100% cold and calculated. His over the top ‘personality’ is meant to cover him, that he has no real emotions and his true power level. Better to be underestimated so you can get a double advantage with being better than they first thought and the surprise that follows the battle. All he truly feels is the fear of death.
Then why does he interact with Error, who I’m pretty sure attacks him most times they meet? Sure, that body isn’t really his, he won’t die, but without a host for too long and he will. So why risk it?
High risk, high reward. Just because he can’t feel anything for Error, doesn’t mean Error can’t feel anything about him. If he can get Error to stop attacking him on sight, to actually care about Fresh, then those souls Error collects could become an emergency stash. Errors not using them or anything!
Once Error gets used to Fresh, they’d be friends I think. He’s already friends with Ink, so he’s used to Fresh’s humor, or something similar.
Error’s hobby doesn’t give him a lot of friendships, or even opportunities. Most people’s moral code stops that. But some people, like Fresh, don’t have that. At least, not one that big.
Fresh and Geno
Fresh would decide early on that Geno (and by extension Error) having a shard of a soul wasn’t worth much to him. So, it’d probably be Geno seeking out Fresh. Maybe he’s looking for a way into the save screen. Maybe he heard of this ‘Sans’, wandering through the universe with a loud personality and saw through Fresh’s stick. Either way, I think Geno would be the one seeking him out.
I can see it working two ways. Fresh could see Geno trying to stop Error from destroying as threatening his last resort option, or Geno could somehow win him over. Maybe random universes dying pricks Fresh’s nerves because that’s another potential host gone?
Either way, once Geno has established he’s not a threat to Fresh, he invites himself over. A lot. Acting for any amount of time is tiring, and Geno makes it very clean he’s not one to judge. It’s a cycle of Fresh seeing Aftertale as safer, someone new coming in causing him to put his guard right back up, then getting used to the person, he relaxes, someone new comes in, yada yada.
They (Geno and the Aftertale bros) start calling Fresh their brother or their cousin to explain why he’s there so frequently.
As for how it works, I imagine once Geno gets attached he doesn’t let go. Fresh knows that and knows it makes him just a bit safer. In the other hand, Fresh is very traveled. Others may be off out by him, but big powers have a hard time saying no. Especially if you think about how one gets around the multiverse, Fresh is Geno’s go to.
Geno protects Fresh and Fresh acts as his taxi basically.
BONUS(ES)
Error and Bluescreen (Blueberror)
I could go on all day about these two, hell I’ll probably make another post about them at a later date, but I’ll stick to a few points.
Bluescreen would and does hate Error at first. Error, for his part, feels extremely guilty. He grabbed Blue for the sake of it, he didn’t plan on Blue becoming like him.
After a while, Blue would move past that hate though. Before he error-ed, he said that hate is a virus. He still believes that.
But that doesn’t mean he’s not mad. Far from it. Bluescreen can, will, and does guilt-trip Error into doing things. Mostly leaving universes alone, but he also uses it to ensure Error doesn’t run off again when he wants to hang out. Blue is very scared to abuse this and become ‘like Error’, so it’s very rare.
To his credit, if Blue went too far Error would absolutely call him out on it, then probably do whatever Blue was trying to get him not to out of spite. It’s not like Blue can pull that card all the time anyways.
Blue has invested interest into trying to make Error a more moral person. He’s already suffered for it and doesn’t want others to go through the same. He can do it! He has to, or else nothing was worth it.
Geno and Fatal
I’ll be honest, I don’t really understand Fatal? So I don’t have much with him.
Geno would feel the same responsibility he feels with Error with Fatal though. Trying to seek him out and talk.
I think the tearing people apart to make Papyrus freaks him out a little bit. He can understand Error’s goal, as he once held a similar one. But trying to remake Papyrus?
Doesn’t stop Geno from trying though.
That being said he does take Patch. If Fatal won’t consider his a real brother, Geno will.
Bluescreen and Fresh
Blue is a very lonely person at heart. Most find him too unsettling, unintentionally scary, or too close to the destroyer to consider befriending. The same is true for Fresh! They can bond over it.
Fresh also gets protection from Blue. He wouldn’t let someone hurt one of his few friends!
I haven’t thought much about this duo as well, but I think they’re neat.

GET TO KNOW THE MUN
NAME?: Robbie, King, Clown, I’ve been called Many Things lmao
PRONOUNS?: if we’re talking the easy route, He/Him. If ur chill then He/It ❤️
PREFERENCE OF COMMUNICATION?: Discord is the most reliable! My tumblr app hasn’t told me when people dm me since like 2021
MOST ACTIVE MUSE(S)?: Titus, obvi lmao;; of all my characters he talks in my head The Most and I get the most inspiration for him just day-to-day
EXPERIENCE / HOW MANY YEARS?: i started role playing over email in 2014 with a few friends from school, then found out about tumblr rp after undertale came out (…yeah my first muse was Papyrus what of it) so i guess almost 9-10 years at this point??? There’s gaps tho
BEST EXPERIENCE?: I mean for the Most Part I’ve had a lot of really good experiences with people! Especially Recently, the people I talk to are just very creative and kind and fun! Tho I do often reminisce on a thread me and an old mutual did when I first got confident enough to write OC stuff instead of canon, it was just a fun plot and we were both just Brain Broken kids ❤️❤️
RP PET PEEVES?: Ummm this is always a hard question, honestly I feel like I’m my biggest pet peeve in rp lol;; I guess my main thing is when people Press for Replies? Like yes remind me if it’s been a while, but I have had mutuals in the past who push after like a Day and it truly just makes my brain Refuse to do anything. That’s more a me thing tho I think
FLUFF, ANGST, OR SMUT?: with as much as I love making angst happen, I Love Fluff. It’s so much fun to write sad characters being happy ❤️❤️ Smut I have. No experience with (I just started writing smut in my downtime like 3 months ago and I respect yall who do it well So Much, it’s truly an Artform of its Own and if anyone has tips for beginners I’ll take em)
PLOTS OR MEMES?: Here’s my problem, right? Love Plotting, if I could plot until I die I would. But also. I might just plot until I die, because then I get nervous about not writing it in a way that feels the way it did when it was Plotted, ykno? Memes are fun but also I get Stressed by the Ask Box
LONG OR SHORT REPLIES?: i prefer longer ones, i think? Short can be fun, but I also have Too Many Thoughts to keep replies short
TIME TO WRITE?: oughghgh usually I Try to get to writing on my weekends, but;;; sometimes work and broken brain makes me Too Tired so it’s real Sporadic and depends on when I have Energy
.
ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE(S)?
In some ways! Most of them have some Level of anxiety, most if not All of them are queer and neurodivergent.
Titus is honestly maybe the Most like me. I was homeless and lived in a van, Religious Trauma, complex about being Inhuman and Strange, autism, trans, and a lot of his little habits come from things I noticed me or my friends doing (tho honestly, Titus is more based on some asshole I knew in yellowstone lmao)

DELTARUNE Chapter 2 Thoughts!!!
WOOO OKAY I stayed up WAY too late trying to finish Deltarune Chapter 2 last night!! It took me awhile because I suck at video games, but I finally did it!
While I normally type up commentary as I play first time, I didn’t get the chance to do that here, so I’ll get down all my general thoughts here!
Unspoilery thoughts: loved it, knew I would, will need to replay soon to see what all I missed, and am excited for whatever’s next!
SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 2 under the cut!!
(These are just as I think of them, not in any particular order!)
Okay overall I can see why this took two years and a much larger team to complete, the second chapter is SO much more expansive and heavy on scene-specific animations! It all looks SO GOOD
I already love Susie but now I love her even more, her expressions were SO GOOD
Susie has a (little nubby) tail confirmed?? That’s adorable
Okay this game is definitely reading the chapter 1 data, which I find interesting because I didn’t obtain it through Steam last time
But like, I gave the “Susie eats chalk” response to Noelle last time, and in chapter two she gave Susie the box of chalk, so awwww!
Also I missed Onionsan in my initial computer playthrough, so they didn’t show up this time, just got a moment of Susie and Kris sitting by the river together!
I find it REALLY interesting that while Ralsei is a Darkner, apparently he can jump around to other Dark Worlds whereas other Darkners like Lancer and Rouxls can’t so much…hmmm!
It was so nice to see everyone filling out the town now, though!
Noooo Susie probably doesn’t have her own room at home, awwww
Kris just casually jumping up to the classroom and bringing everyone back tho, perfect
Was right on there being multiple dark worlds in other locations, but honestly that part’s the least surprising to me, that always seemed like a pretty standard path to take!
The werewires were creepy and great; difficult to battle tho
QUEEN IS MY NEW FAVORITE
EVERY LINE OF HERS WAS A+
I’m so glad that I didn’t really go anywhere with Jevil’s line about the Queen in PT; nothing I came up with could’ve topped Queen being an absolute acid trip of an antagonist in this chapter
NOELLE SO SWEET
Her lil’ robot disguise! Her being afraid of mice at first!
I kinda wish we could have had her in the party more? She was super useful as a party member, honestly!
But sadly I guess we’re not gonna get more than the three-person party, awww
B E R D L Y
I cannot believe Berdly basically became incel Falco but also had a sympathetic backstory
Like I laughed a lot at all of Berdly’s expressions and dialogue while also going BERDLY YOU ARE THE WORST
Noelle’s WHAT? WHAT? WHAT? WHAT? WHAT? WHAT? part = A+
I feel like Queen’s relationship with Noelle definitely had some uncomfy parallels with probably how she is dealing with her real mom
I AM NOT GOOD AT PUNCH-OUT AND THERE WAS A LOT OF THAT
I somehow missed the part where Susie is wearing Ralsei’s glasses??? Where is this
Also in general there was a LOT of puzzles and gameplay in the overworld map, which I was bad at but was also very cool
KRIS GET THE BANANA
The dolphin pop-up ads…
I DID NOT LIKE THE SPAMTON GUY
DISCOMFORT THE WHOLE TIME
Apparently he’s also the secret boss for this chapter?? That’s at least if the soundtrack is anything to go by. Maybe I’ll go back and try it on another playthrough, but aaaaagggghhhg
SO MANY GOOD SUSELLE MOMENTS
MY LIL SHIPPER HEART HAS A NICE SERVING AND WANTS MORE
The whole deal with the ferris wheel conversation and just awwwwuuuuuuh
Needs more Susiezilla now too (I picked the “something romantic” option because of course)
MORE PLZ, LET’S DIG DEEPER HERE
Also I cannot believe Susie has (at least) two people crushing on her and is just totally oblivious to it
There’s SO Many interesting HMM moments with Kris and that definitely included the entire acid tunnel of love scene with Kris and Ralsei
Interrupted of course by an appropriately silly Rouxls battle
But man the more we see (or often DON’T see) of Ralsei the more intriguing it gets
LET NOELLE RIDE IN THE TEACUP RIDE WITH SUSIE
I just knew going back to get that chest without Noelle would be something dumb
OKAY I ended up dying a lot to 1) the Mauswheel, and 2) the color-changing butlers?? So I ended up having to do the whole sequence with annoying dog blasting through everything in his path multiple times
I DID feel bad for Berdly during that boss battle where he was werewired; that was nice and body horror-ish
That said… “I NEED A KISS FROM A GAMER GIRL”
The giant mecha boss battle absolutely kicked my ass, though
Like it WAS badass but that took me a LOT of tries to get through
My thrash machine was very GUN’S
Overall the difficulty curve was definitely stepped up from chapter 1!
LOTS MORE DARK WORLD AND KNIGHT LORE FROM RALSEI HERE
And lots of talk about Noelle being pretty important to it, too!
I’m glad I got to bring Susie on the walkaround this time around town!
I AM GOING TO BE YOUR WACKY ROOMMATE NOW
King and Queen’s entire conversation was so hilarious
King just slides over to suck on that sweet, sweet giant hamster water bottle
BUNKER STILL BEIN SUSPICIOUS
Aww the pizzeria is not a creepy mascot Chuck-E-Cheese’s style, tho
Confirmation that Gerson was Alvin’s father! And I feel like there’s a lot we’re missing there, too
Still not allowed to see Papyrus…
Catti’s parents…
I wasn’t expecting this at all, but it feels like they may be introducing way more Lightners to the Dark World with each chapter, since both Noelle and Berdly ended up there?
And if that’s the case, I feel like it’s hinting that Catti and/or Jockington may be next
SUSIE STAYING AT KRIS’S PLACE FOR A SLEEPOVER WAS SO SWEET
IMMEDIATELY UNDERCUT BY KRIS GOING FERAL AGAIN
Like I dunno the whole scenario somehow managed to be both REALLY sinister and very funny at once??
Susie and Toriel are busy laughing and making a pie together, meanwhile Kris just sneaks the hell out and slashes Toriel’s tires because it’s KNIVES OUT TIME
Please let Susie watch more giant monster (and giant human) movies with her friends, she needs this
THAT SAID, THAT ENDING
HMM HMM HMMMMMMMMMM
SO THIS SEEMS TO BE INDICATING THAT KRIS IS THE KNIGHT
Which like…is in fact making SOME KIND OF SENSE in my head overall, but I definitely need more context to see how exactly
Like I’m all “THIS FEELS RIGHT BUT I DON’T KNOW WHY, I NEED MOOOORE”
Considering Ralsei’s reaction to Noelle and Berdly trying to make a new fountain, this definitely seems to be setting up some kind of future confrontation between Kris and Ralsei, which! HMMMM
I THINK IT’S TIME FOR THIS GIF AGAIN
Basically I HAD A GRAND TIME, I NEED TO REPLAY, EXCITED FOR THE REST WHENEVER IT COMES
#deltarune#deltarune chapter 2#deltarune spoilers#deltarune ch 2 spoilers#also of course we get another BANGIN SOUNDTRACK#which I get to have on repeat until the remixes comes out#and I put those on repeat for another two years

you ever notice how sans is a little bit of an edgy dumbass?
i see fandom interpretation of sans usually swing entirely one way or the other—he’s either a completely goofy dipshit who doesn’t care about anything, or he’s an epic, angsty, powerful skeleton man. the latter is definitely a much bigger misinterpretation than the former, but i don’t think it’s right to characterize sans as being an entirely apathetic jokester either.
similarly, sans seems to want you to think two contradictory things: 1. he doesn’t care what you do, or about anything. 2. he’s really mysterious and tough, actually. from the very beginning, sans is like this. it seems like he’s deliberately trying to appear ominous, all while making stupid jokes and engaging in various shenanigans. when you first enter snowdin, aside from sans ominously sneaking around behind you in the shadows, there’s this branch that you can examine. it says, “(It’s a tough-looking branch.) (It’s too heavy to pick up.)” after passing it, you can hear it snap a few moments later. then, if you come back after meeting sans..
sans just completely obliterated this branch, for basically no reason? even the narrator seems somewhat unnerved by this, based on their wording. i can’t think of any reason he’d do this, other than to scare frisk (and the player). of course it could just be some kind of prank, but i mean... it must take some effort to literally annihilate an entire tree branch, and putting effort into things isn’t something sans typically does. it makes you wonder why he chose to put effort into that of all things.
and of course, he later does this:
what’s going on here is that sans undertale, the funny stupid skeleton guy that drinks ketchup and tells shitty jokes to make people begrudgingly smile, that stacks hotdogs on people’s heads and helps his brother make a dorky outfit for a costume party—y’know, THAT guy—is saying that he’d literally murder a child on sight.
... yeah i dunno guys i think he might be lying.
so then why? why does he threaten frisk, in both of these cases? maybe he’s trying to scare them/the player out of resetting? i'm not sure about that. sans seems to understand this ‘anomaly’ at least a bit; he’s aware that they’re doing this just because they can, and they feel like they have to. wouldn’t threatening them, intentionally appearing ominous and mysterious—wouldn’t that just drive their curiosity? it certainly did for most people who did a no mercy run. i don’t think sans is unaware of this, but he definitely isn’t interested in fighting anyone or going through more resets. so again, why?
during no mercy, sans stands by and does nothing, just watching while you kill his family, his friends—he only steps in because the world would literally be destroyed otherwise. it makes you wonder why he didn’t do anything at first. however, he explains this himself when talking about the anomaly:
“to be blunt... it makes it kind of hard to give it my all. ... or is that just a poor excuse for being lazy? hell if i know.”
so why does he fight you at all? if he’s entirely numb at this point, why would he suddenly start caring about the destruction of the world? he wouldn’t, simply because he cared the entire time. he’s angry and afraid, and if he really didn’t care, he wouldn’t do any of things he does. it makes me wonder why he tries to convince the player of his indifference. i honestly think it’s because he does care—like, a lot—and he REALLY doesn’t want anyone to know that... including himself. i don’t think it’s a stretch to say that he’s doing this to hide that fact from not only the player, but possibly from himself as well? because sans seems to genuinely believe both of these things; i don’t think his feigned apathy is a deliberate façade to trick the player, and it’s definitely not entirely feigned, either. remember that he literally does nothing to stop you from killing anyone.
sans is understandably enraged about all of this, and he’s obviously upset when the player chooses to kill other monsters (especially papyrus) but he does nothing—because he doesn’t care, because he’s lazy. but mostly because it’d hurt a lot less if he genuinely didn’t care, so he tries not to.
sans isn’t an ultra powerful time-bending entity, he’s not an embodiment of justice when he fights you, and he really doesn’t want to be. sans is a normal, goofy guy caught up in something incomprehensibly horrifying and he can’t do anything about it. he’s angry but most of all he’s tired; he doesn’t want to fight— he doesn’t want to do any of this.
he's powerless to stop it, and he’s defenseless against it.
... so the only thing he can do? dodge it while he still can.
#sans#undertale#this post was supposed to be about how i thought the branch thing was funny#but then i quickly became very very sad.#oh well!#apologies if this is incomprehensible. i'm just having skeleton-based emotional problems again#ANALYSIS

deltarune ch2 spoilers
seriously I'm about to spoil the fuck out of the game and also the Alternative Route For Assholes
ok the 24 hour spoiler ban has passed but still: FINAL SPOILER WARNING.
first: GOD this game is so. GOOD? holy sweet mother of meatball, I have been thinking about it nonstop for the past 2 days. it feels like a shitpost. I love queen dearly. the potassium gag. “what does bosom mean??” “tity.” every single interaction with her and berdly made me PISS myself laughing and especially The Statue. actually this whole game was really, really funny. the part where you and ralsei go on the swan boat, literally on acid, and battle it out with rouxls kaard. who is riding a duck. god where does toby come up with this material?? it is so weird but.... so good. his comedic chops have gotten a LOT better since undertale, and even chapter 1.
the art, music, and mechanics were SPOT ON. the recruitment thing, the implication that at some point you’re going to have to de-recruit someone for the betterment of your town, the town itself, just... good lord. toby has outdone himself. this adds so much complexity to the gameplay that was kind of lacking in undertale? I also love the way that the equipment has been done this time around, it adds an element of strategy to deciding who should get what items and when to equip different items. the team as a whole is so great, mechanics wise. fights with them are INFINITELY more entertaining than fighting alone as kris would be. and the art is WAY better than undertale. I've never been one to criticize Undertale’s graphics, and I still won’t, but it’s impossible to deny that deltarune is a step up in every way. the little animations of kris and susie entering the dark world, susie and lancer’s high-five, the attack/defend animations, just so good. the environments are super aesthetically pleasing, too. the music is great, of course. it’s Toby Fox what am I expecting?? to be honest nothing has really Hit Me the same way any tracks from undertale have, but maybe they will as I listen to them more. a big part of it is the familiarity.
also: I was never too attached to either susie or Ralsei in chapter one, but this really sold it for me. when I played Undertale I felt very invested in the characters, but not so much my friendship with them. it felt very much like we had just met each other. in deltarune I 100000 percent buy the friendship and I ADORE both of them so much? the fact that kris literally does not say anything but still has distinct dynamics with the two of them baffles me but I can’t complain because it is?? so?? amazing??? I was genuinely very upset when ralsei and susie left to do their own thing. I didn’t realize it as it was happening but I really loved having them around. I missed them. also it seems like EVERYONE except me was suspicious of ralsei, but now that it’s been pointed out... yeah. I love him to BITS so it pains me to say but something is Wrong With Him. why can he travel from dark world to dark world without turning into a statue? what are the titans, and why is he only mentioning them now? and actually, ALL of our information about the dark world is coming from him. how much is true? what else does he know that he’s not telling us?
and what. WHAT. is up with kris? I don’t even have any theories I am just baffled. it seems like they’re the knight, right? have they been creating... all of the dark worlds, including the first one in the storage closet? does this make kris the villain? or is the creation of dark worlds a good thing... meaning ralsei is manipulating us into thinking the dark fountains are evil? Why would they slash Toriel’s tires? why are we possessing them? also I LOVE the puppet theme with the hidden bosses... and it really seems like something about that is not sitting right with kris, either. kris full on shouting that they’re not okay to ralsei after he asks... good god I am SO CURIOUS. the mystery element here is really on point. it’s so easy to settle into the comedy and fun little group dynamic, but something is always Wrong and when something reminds you it is deeply unsettling. the only group member who doesn’t seem to have something freaky and suspicious going on is susie... if she turns out to be evil too i stg im ejecting myself from the stratosphere
also speaking of mysteries: not knowing how Undertale and deltarune connect is KILLING me. I fully buy into the theory that sans and papyrus are “from” the world of deltarune, originally. if the theory is true, then word search from icee’s pizzeria you find in UT is actually SO? brilliant. SANS GAVE YOU A WORD SEARCH FROM A RESTAURANT THAT ONLY EXISTS IN DELTARUNE. was toby thinking about this all the way back when Undertale was released??? but is deltarune an alternate... timeline? does undertale exist at ALL, if the sans and papyrus thing doesn’t turn out to be true? but if that were the case, why would sans’ grocery store be the same building as grillby’s, logo and all? does sans owning the grillby’s building indicate that sans went to the undertale world to take it?? what is going ON???
and just going to say it: snowgrave route in deltarune (is that what we’re calling it???) is a MILLION times freakier than the genocide route in Undertale. like ut is depressing, it was Unfun to kill my friends, but the way you just... slowly corrupt pure, innocent Noelle and make her do your incredibly screwed up bidding is just disturbing. the way you just say “Proceed” at all the puzzles and like, gaslight her into thinking she didn’t TOTALLY MURK berdly and that ring seller guy... god it’s so messed up but also SO???? amazing??? murdering video game characters makes you feel like you’re... well, playing a video game. but forcing Noelle to do it for you??? something about that feels so much more twisted. god I feel like a sadistic bastard.
deltarune is not undertale but it’s not trying to be. it definitely feels distinctly different, and maybe more sinister? expectations are through the roof for toby but he’s killing it. I remember being worried when deltarune ch1 was announced, because undertale doesn’t feel like the kind of game that can, or should, be followed up by anything. I think I was wrong though. I don’t know how its possible, but deltarune is the perfect thematic successor to undertale in every way I can think of. tl;dr PLAY DELTARUNE it was good

Ughhh this is embarrassing but i made a prologue of a fanfic i wanna make but can't due to lack of motivation and no experience in writing whatsoever.
And what did i do? I wrote it anyway because of the sudden 3am motivation that swarmed up to me and decided now is the best time to be productive.
Again, I have never wrote something like this and just wanted to give it a shot and being a non english speaer makes it a little harder for me :')
I wanted to hear your opinions on this and maybe point out my weaknesses too.
Welp, here goes nothing. Enjoy :>
~~~~~~~~~
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be in a fictional world?
Have you ever wondered how your interactions with your favourite characters would be like?
Well, you've fantasized about it a lot, and you didn't think that one day, you'd end up in a world full of humans and monsters.
One second you were minding your own business, and the next thing you knew you ended up somewhere beyond your expectations.
This will be... interesting.
-------------
.
.
.
.
...........the hell just happened?
"PSST HEY, I THINK THE HUMAN'S WAKING UP! EVERONE! BE QUIET!" exclaimed a seemingly loud voice.
"uh, papyrus, hate to break it to you but you're the loudest one of all here." says another voice.
Huh? Papyrus? Like Papyrus from Undertale? The hell?
You groan as your eyes slowly began to open. Just as you were about to get used to your vision, a bag was thrown on to your head.
"Hey! What the- What the fuck are you doing?!?!" you're panicking. Just what on earh is going on right now?!
"FREEZE HUMAN, I DEMAND YOU TO STOP RESISTING AT ONCE!" another loud voice, great. Silently praying for your eardrums at the moment.
You paused for a second. Human? No normal person would call their kind human too, right? No sane person would do that.
"SHOULDN'T WE TAKE THE BAG ON HER HEAD OFF? THEY'LL SUFFOCATE YOU KNOW?-" the person who you would assume was the loud guy earlier talked. Finally, someone with a brain.
"oh yeah."
"why did anyone think putting a bag on someone who was just unconscious a minute ago was a good idea? and just why?" Pfft, you chuckled at that.
After a few seconds, you felt someone taking off the bag that was just on your head a second ago.
"Can someone please explain what is going on right now-" You froze and stopped talking once you saw who you were with. Your eyes widen.
Oh. You recognize these people.
Well not people, but monsters. Skeleton monsters to be exact.
Oh and wow look at that, most of them come in pairs of brothers too.
How nice. You thought.
You should be freaking out for god's sakes! You aren't home. You're in a foreign place that you barely have any knowledge about.
What about your family and friends? Are they worried about you? Or do they just not realise it at all?
Million's of thoughts are running across your head right now. This has got to be a dream right? You've got to be dead.. right? I mean, looking at how things work logically, there is no possible way that you could have ended up here alive. You slapped yourself hard in the face and just as you feared.
Shit's real, and the pain? Oh yea, you're definately feeling it, and it hurt like a bitch.
After an uncomfortable amount of time of constant staring with the skeleton group, you eventually got sick and tired and began to speak.
"Alright, which one of you messed with the machine?"
~~~~~~~~
Yea that's about it. I'm sorry if it was too messy for you to read, I have no idea what I'm doing either.

A Warm Feeling, Chapter Five
Chapter Five: Worry and Normalcy
Chapter One | Chapter Four | Chapter Six
Word count: 3586
Warnings for this chapter: Nightmares, Frisk is a jerk
Read this on Archive of Our Own and Wattpad!
Grillby didn’t ask what triggered Sans’s panic attack, and the skeleton was grateful. How was he supposed to explain that he was afraid of a human child with the ability to manipulate time itself? The bartender would think he was crazy.
Sans settled further into Grillby’s arms, sighing. The bag of food Grillby had brought was discarded next to them, long-emptied by the two of them as they ate and talked together. At some point, they’d lapsed into a comfortable silence. It had been some time, but Grillby didn’t show any indication of moving, and Sans wasn’t about to make him. The panic attack had been draining, and he was worried that his anxiety would come for him with a vengeance the moment he was alone again.
Grillby was leaning back against the sentry station, head resting on the wood and eyes closed. He looked moments from falling asleep, and Sans was tempted to let him. Sure, Grillby had been steadily recovering, but the walk to Sans’s post was a lot even for a healthy monster. The bartender had probably overdone it a little bit. Being made of fire, he didn’t get cold, but even so, Grillby’s back would probably hurt if he fell asleep sitting on the ground. Sans tapped his arm gently, mumbling, “Hey Grillbz, you still with me?”
“Hm? Yes, I’m awake. I’m alright.” Grillby opened his eyes, looking down at Sans and giving him a tired smile. Yep, definitely overdid it.
Sans smiled back a bit. “We should get you home,” he said fondly. “You look like you could use some rest. Come on, let’s take a shortcut.”
The two stood up, Sans holding Grillby’s hand as they started walking. One moment, they were in Snowdin forest. The next, they were-
The world stuttered.
Grillby was leaning back against the sentry station, head resting on the wood and eyes closed. Sans jerked in his arms, inhaling sharply as his pupils vanished. Frisk just loaded a save file. That usually meant they died in a fight. What happened? Were they fighting Toriel? Something else? Did this mean they were close to leaving the Ruins? No, no, he couldn’t let himself get worked up. He started shaking even as he tried to calm himself back down, burying his face in Grillby’s chest and curling up a bit more.
Grillby felt the motion and opened his eyes, looking down at Sans with a tired, concerned expression. “Sans? Breathe, I’ve got you.” He rubbed the skeleton’s back gently, mumbling soft reassurances until Sans stopped shaking. “Talk to me,” he mumbled. “What’s wrong? Have you been having trouble sleeping again? Maybe you should come home with me.”
Sans took deep breaths, wiping at his eye sockets to keep any tears from falling. “No, no, I want to stay out here. I’ll take you home. You’re exhausted.”
"You could stay home, too," Grillby said softly. "Please, for me? I'm worried about you. Your anxiety has been severe lately, and I'm scared you'll…" He trailed off, looking away for a moment. When he looked back, he took Sans's hand and intertwined their fingers. "Let me take care of you, Sans. For my sake."
Sans looked up at him, then sighed and squeezed Grillby's hand gently, giving in. "Alright, just this once. For the record, the only reason you can drag me away is because you're still kinda sick and you aren't going to rest if I don't."
Grillby chuckled. "Aww, you care about me."
You have no idea. Sans rolled his eyes and untangled himself from Grillby, standing and offering the bartender his hand. "Come on, you dork. Let's get home and take a nap."
Grillby took Sans’s hand, bracing himself for the brief feeling of weightlessness that came with Sans’s shortcuts. A flash of blue light filled his vision as the ground vanished beneath his feet… and didn’t come back.
As his vision cleared, Grillby found himself suspended in a dark void, still gripping Sans’s hand tightly. For some reason, the void itself didn’t bother him. It felt peaceful. That didn’t make him any less confused. He gripped Sans’s hand a little tighter, looking to the skeleton. “Sans? Where are we?” he asked softly. He wasn’t sure why, but he felt like if he spoke too loud, the peace would break and he would fall.
Sans didn’t look concerned at all, one hand holding Grillby’s and the other in his pocket. “Don’t you recognize it?”
“Recognize it?” Grillby shook his head. Surely he would remember a place like this.
“C’mon, you see it all the time!” Sans closed his eyes, chuckling. When he opened them again, his pupils had faded out, his eyes filling with the same, empty darkness that surrounded them. “Or maybe,” the skeleton said, his tone even and calm, “You just never bothered to notice.”
Something tightened around Grillby’s soul. He suddenly became aware of an overwhelming terror that Sans was going to leave him alone. The darkness seemed to constrict as he did, making it hard to breathe. “Sans,” he managed between gasps, “I don’t… I don’t understand…”
The skeleton sighed, seemingly unaffected by the strange place around him. “You don’t understand,” he mumbled. “No one understands. No one can understand.” His grip on Grillby’s hand loosened and he closed his eyes. “It’s fine. I can handle it alone.”
Grillby felt his grip weakening and frantically held on tighter. “No, Sans, don’t say that. You aren’t alone, I’m here!”
“Where is here?” Sans asked him. “What’s happening to me? Can anyone tell me?” He shook his head, then let go. As he did, some unseen force seemed to start pulling him away, the bony fingers threatening to slip from Grillby’s grasp.
The bartender held on as tightly as he could, briefly worried he was going to break Sans’s hand before pushing those thoughts away. He would rather Sans be injured than gone completely. “Don’t leave me,” he begged, “Please. Talk to me, I can help!”
Sans ignored him, looking up at something behind Grillby. He smirked, then looked back down at the fire monster. “Sorry, Grillbz. It’s dark…” He closed his eyes again. “Getting darker… yet d a r k e r…”
Grillby felt a presence behind him. Before he could react, a hand reached over his shoulder and grabbed his wrist. It looked like the hand of a skeleton, but there was a wide, gaping hole in the middle. It made Grillby’s head hurt. Whatever force threatened to pull Sans away from him suddenly pulled harder, the hand around his wrist pulling back at the same time.
The quiet was peaceful. The quiet was fragile. One loud sound could break it, but when Grillby felt Sans’s hand leave his? He screamed.
The sound of rushing wind filled Grillby’s mind as he plummeted, reaching up towards the fading figure of his best friend. The darkness consumed him, threatening to tear him apart as it wrapped around his body, his mind, his soul. He felt dizzy, closing his eyes as for the first time in his life, he truly felt cold.

Grillby gasped and sat upright. He was shaking and his vision was blurry and clouded by steam as tears evaporated from his eyes.
“Whoa-!” Sans held up his hands and leaned back where he was kneeling on the floor, eye sockets wide. “Hey, t-take it easy. It’s just me. It’s just me, you’re safe.”
Sans hadn’t been able to sleep after settling down in his room, resigned to just laying down and scrolling on his phone. He’d gotten through several pages of a recent article on paperclip bias when he heard a loud thud. He ran to the living room and found Grillby on the floor, trembling and muttering in his sleep. It didn’t take a genius to tell that he was having a nightmare and had fallen off the couch. The skeleton tried to wake Grillby up, but when he’d touched Grillby’s arm, the monster had screamed and fought against him. The only option left was to wait and try to talk to him. Sans made a mental note to thank whatever higher power was out there that the bartender had woken up on his own. “Deep breaths, Grillbz, come on,” he muttered gently, risking touching him again as he set a hand on the fire monster’s back. “It was just a nightmare. Just a dream, can’t hurt you.”
Grillby slowly oriented himself, taking deep breaths as he was instructed. In, and out. In, and out. The adrenaline drained from his body and he curled in on himself. He couldn’t stop shaking. “I’m… I’m sorry…”
“Sorry? The hell are you apologizing for?” Sans reached out and took Grillby’s hands. “You had a nightmare. It looked really bad, too. There’s no way you can help that.”
Grillby jerked his hands away. “That’s not what I’m talking about!” he shouted, biting back another sob. Sans was stunned into silence, pulling his hands away and dropping them into his lap. The two of them sat there for a moment, Grillby’s sobbing the only sound in the otherwise quiet house. The bartender took deep breaths, taking his time to collect his thoughts, and Sans let him. Whatever was going on in Grillby’s head, it was something he needed to address at his own pace. When he did finally speak, his voice wavered, full of fear and regret. “I shouldn’t have raised my voice, and I’m sorry. I’m just- I’m scared, Sans. Something is eating you and I don’t know how to help. I know you don’t like to be vulnerable and I want to let you come to me in your own time, if you even ever want to tell me, but I can’t do anything for you if I don’t know what’s going on!”
Sans sighed. “Grillby-”
“No, I’m not done,” Grillby interrupted. “Whatever triggered this relapse has been hard on you. You’ve been struggling to sleep, having panic attacks, and don’t think I haven’t noticed how nervous you get the moment Papyrus leaves your sight. You’ve mentioned before that you get separation anxiety when you’re apart for long periods of time but this is different. You’re always tired, you never eat if you aren’t told to, and half the time you can’t even will yourself out of bed unless your brother physically drags you out of your room! This is serious and I won’t- I can’t- I…” He looked away again, burying his face in his hands as he trailed off.
Sans didn’t know how to respond for a moment. He knew that Grillby worried about him sometimes, but he didn’t realize just how much he noticed. He moved closer and put a hand on Grillby’s knee. “You can’t what, Grillbz?” he asked softly.
Grillby lowered his hands, sniffling as he stared down at his lap. “I can’t… I can’t lose you, Sans. You matter to me more than you realize. I don’t know what I would do if… i-if you… if something happened to you. I can’t lose you, I-i can’t!”
The skeleton immediately wrapped Grillby in his arms, rubbing his back to calm him before the fire monster could get himself worked up again. “You’re not gonna lose me,” Sans mumbled, “It’s okay. I’m sorry I scared you. I promise I’m gonna be okay. You already do so much just by being my friend, Grillbz, you don’t need to do anything else.”
“Please, Sans, just… you have to talk to someone. If you can’t talk to me, that’s fine, but you have to talk to someone,” Grillby insisted. “You have people that love you, and we worry about y-”
The world stuttered.
It’s just me, you’re safe.” Wait a second. They’d just been through this. Sans closed his eyes, damning Frisk for undoing all the progress they’d just made before forcing those feelings down, focusing on the distressed monster in front of him.
“I’m… I’m s-”

The world stuttered.
Grillby gasped and sat upright.
The world stuttered.
Grillby gasped and sat upright.
The world stuttered.
Grillby choked as he jerked awake.
The world stuttered.
Grillby woke up screaming.
“GRILLBY!” Sans threw his arms around the bartender, shaken as he held the trembling monster. What the hell was that? Frisk had loaded six times in a row. What the hell could kill them that fast? Or were they just messing with something? Sans could worry about that later. For now, he needed to help a friend that he’d unintentionally terrified.
The conversation went about the same as it did the first time, and thankfully, they managed to get through it without any more resets. They ended up back on the couch, Sans laying up against the armrest with Grillby’s head on his chest, their legs tangled together as they spread out on the cushions. He played with the flames that formed Grillby’s hair, sighing. “I don’t think I’m ready to talk to you about it yet, but… you’re right. I’m gonna start looking at therapists, okay? I’m sorry I scared you.”
Grillby nodded tiredly, relieved. He wasn’t sure if Sans was going to get defensive or listen, so he was very glad it was the latter. “It’s alright,” he mumbled. “I’m sorry I didn’t say anything sooner. I wasn’t sure if it was my place to say anything.”
“You can always talk to me,” Sans was quick to affirm. “You can tell me anything, and I’ll listen. You’re my best friend. If there’s anybody I trust enough to be vulnerable with, it’s you. I mean, other than Papyrus,” he amended with a small shrug.
A light blush spread over Grillby’s cheeks and he chuckled. “You’re my best friend, too. You can always come to me for help.” He sighed and wrapped his arms around Sans’s waist, settling down a bit more and looking up at him. “For now, though, you’re trapped here. We’re both exhausted and I don’t feel inclined to move just yet.”
“Really? I can’t be a great pillow. I’m too boney,” Sans said, amused. “I’m not complaining though. You’re nice and warm.”
“Then shush and let me stay like this.” Grillby closed his eyes and put his head back on Sans’s chest. Just stay with me a little longer.
Papyrus would come home from his patrol to find the two of them tangled on the couch like that, fast asleep.
(He totally took pictures.)
Grillby was cleared to go back to work at the end of the week. It felt weird, to be getting back to normal life, but he wasn’t about to complain. He was passionate about his work, and while he knew the skeleton brothers meant well, if he had to spend one more day stuck in their living room while they fretted over him he was going to lose his mind.
The first day back was very busy, many of his regulars coming earlier than usual to check in with him and ask how he was doing. It was nice. Grillby forgot, sometimes, that people considered his restaurant a big part of Snowdin’s community. There were a few people that he was surprised to see visiting him, but nothing surprised him more than when he looked up and saw a vaguely familiar lizard monster in a white lab coat. He walked over and took his notepad from his vest pocket. “Dr. Alphys,” he greeted politely, “It’s good to see you. Can I get you a drink to start?”
Alphys almost asked for water, remembered that it was dangerous for the fire monster to touch, fumbled over her words, then just gave up. “N-no thanks, I’ll just, uh, get some fries if that’s okay.”
Grillby gave her a kind smile. “One order of fries, coming right up.”
As the bartender disappeared into the kitchen, Alphys took a moment to look around herself. She’d never really seen the appeal of going out to a bar before, but Grillby’s wasn’t at all what she expected. There was no stereotypical smell of booze that she’d come to associate with the few bars she’d heard about in New Home, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Sentries from the Royal Guard sat at a table playing cards and customers at the bar chatted and joked amongst themselves. She wondered to herself if it was appropriate to call this place a bar. Grillby’s seemed to better fit her idea of a restaurant.
Grillby came back out with a basket of fries, drawing Alphys’s attention back to him as he set them on the bar in front of her. “Can I get anything else for you?” he asked.
“No, this- this is fine. Thank you.” Alphys gave him an awkward smile, picking at her fries while she tried to figure out what to say.
The bartender chuckled. “I should be the one thanking you. If it weren’t for your advice, I wouldn’t have been able to recover from last week’s… incident as quickly as I did.”
“O-Oh, that was no- no problem!” Alphys quickly dismissed, unable to take a compliment. “I d-d-didn’t mind at all! B-besides, any friend of Sans is- is a friend of mine, heheh…”
“Still, I appreciate it.” Grillby picked up a glass to clean out, heating a fire-resistant cloth with his magic to sterilize it. “So, to what do I owe the pleasure of your visit? Snowdin is a long way to come for a basket of fries.”
Alphys dropped the fry she was holding with a squeak. Good gosh, was she that obvious? She pulled herself together with a small, awkward laugh. “W-well,” she stammered, “There is a-another reason… um…” Oh, this felt so weird! Was it even her place to talk about this? Oh, she was just going to come out and say it! “I w-w-wanted to talk to you, um, about your sch-schedule? I had a-a-a few, um, suggestions?”
“Oh? By all means, go ahead,” Grillby said with a slight nod to her.
Oh, thank goodness. Alphys took a deep breath, proceeding with a bit more confidence now that she was sure Grillby wasn’t going to react badly. Well, mostly sure. Sure enough to continue, at least. “The bar is g-getting pretty, um, popular lately,” she pointed out. “I know you p-pretty much run the place by- by yourself, so, um, I was just w-worried if things stay how they are, you might, uh, g-get overwhelmed again? But I th-thought of a solution f-for that!
Grillby set the glass down and gave Alphys his full attention. “You have a point there. Well, I’m open to suggestions.”
“I-i was thinking,” she continued, “Every business has hours wh-where they’re, um, th-things are a bit slow. Right? Maybe y-you could change your hours of operation s-so you, um, don’t have the bar open those hours? And you c-can take a break?”
The bartender thought about that for a moment, adjusting his glasses. “I understand what you’re saying, and you are correct. Tuesday and Thursday evenings can be very slow, and I rarely get a customer until noon on a Sunday. I suppose it couldn’t hurt to close early on Tuesdays and Thursdays, then open late on Sundays. It would give me some time to rest on busy weeks.” He smiled a bit, nodding to himself. “Thank you, Dr. Alphys. I think it’s a great idea.”
Alphys flustered, still unable to take a compliment well. “S-s-sure thing! Glad I could- could help!”
The bell over the front door jingled, diverting Grillby’s attention. “Ah, I’m afraid I’ve been neglecting my other customers. It was good to see you, Dr. Alphys. Let me know if I can get you anything else.” With that, he left the bar to take the new customer’s order, getting back to business as usual.
Alphys smiled to herself a bit. She’d been worried that the whole conversation was going to be an awkward mess, but thankfully, the bartender had been receptive and easy to talk to. She was starting to get an idea why people liked Grillby’s bar so much. How could you dislike a place with such good service and such a kind bartender?
Well, it was also possible that the amazing fries had something to do with it. With the attention off of her, Alphys found herself eagerly digging into her food, putting just a bit of ketchup on the side. Man, that fire monster could cook.

Just curious if there is gonna be a short story that has everyone gang up on him, then he decides, " I am gonna pull my baby bro into this" and turns it to where both brothers are both attacked by everyone. Is that gonna maybe happen?
Wrote a little bonus scene for you~
Gang Up: Sharing the Fun
Every set of digits was distinctly different — in size, in texture; hard or soft or somewhere in between — all guided in wildly different ways. Many of the nimbler fingers danced chaotically all over his body, other hands lingering in favored places, leaving almost nothing untouched between them all.
At either side of his ribs, Papyrus and Denise snickered, sharing excited glances as their fingers skittered and nipped, merciless and lightning quick. Frisk squeezed, Angel kneaded, and Toriel strummed, all at incongruent paces, sending severe shockwaves of sensation from skull to toes,
Sans couldn’t pick out any one technique, however, too busy howling at the overwhelming input, inadvertently tossing himself like a hot potato from one tickler to another. His grin was widely stretched across his face, quivering at the edges. When his wrists weren’t captured, he weakly struggled and shoved, not bothering to hide his blush-stained cheeks. His shirt wasn’t quite enough to hide a faint glow emanating from his chest.
Not an ounce of him regretted asking for this, feeling the love in every surrounding SOUL channeling through their touch, ringing in their overlapping laughter. Daydreams couldn’t replicate the intensity of such emotion.
But his stamina was regrettably burning out fast. “okayhee…! i’m done!” he gasped, ready to wail the safe word if they didn’t pull away. But they did, treating him to affectionate pats before giving him space to catch his breath. “h~hahh…. ...sh~should i be alarmed … at how good ya all are at torturing me?...”
“Oh, don’t pretend you did not love it, brother.” Papyrus smirked down at him, a teasing glint in his sockets. “You begged us to tickle you after all, nyeheh! It is good that you are finally admitting your true feelings!”
“h-hmn!….” Shivering at the sudden rush of butterflies through his bones, Sans glanced away. His little brother was becoming too good of a ringleader in driving him crazy. He couldn’t let Papyrus go unscathed for this. His face settled into a tired, yet sly grin.
“yeah? so when do we get to hear you admit yours?...”
Startled, Papyrus whipped himself back, orange blossoming across his cheeks. “I DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!” came his instant denial.
Sans’s eyes narrowed further. “oh, come on, eheh! not like it’s a secret, right?”
“Yeah!” Frisk agreed, smiling innocently up at her best skele-friend. “You have lots of fun getting tickled, too, don’t you, Papyrus?”
“N-not NEARLY as much as Sans!” he protested, fiddling with his scarf.
“Careful, Papy, liars get tickles…~” Denise warned, clearly not satiated yet.
“It certainly would not feel right to deny you after all we have done for Sans,” Toriel added in amusement.
Angel wasted no time teasing, pouncing on her owner with a playful yowl, claiming a spot at his spine.
“NYOOHOHAAAIIIIEEEE~!” Papyrus shrieked, bowling over backward — taken down a little too easily.
Toriel used her strength to pin him before his lanky limbs could start to dangerously flail, the two human siblings quickly swooping in with flying fingers.
Sitting up, Sans looked on with quiet joy. It was easy to see the delight sparking in his brother’s features; he wondered if that was how he looked too, when he was in the midst of it. Chuckling warmly, he joined in the fray.

match me up, baby
Tried to get a lot of info down. I'm so tired right now, so hopefully this matchup makes sense. You'll be able to read my decent into madness as it goes on lmao. • I lean more toward extroverted, but I've reached a point in my life where going out and partying all night does not sound fun anymore. I'm sober, responsible, hardworking, decisive, impulsive, and independent. It's kind of hard to get to know me since I don't really share details about my life to people I don't know. Terrible when trying to date, so bring out the skele booty, my girl. • I'm a painter. I love art, and all things beautiful. Fashion, aesthetic, all things lovely. I get uncomfy if I stay in one place too long, I like to travel. I like learning languages. I looooove making people I love feel good about themselves. I'm very physically affectionate with loved ones. • Deal breakers: People who can't assert themselves or say their opinions, Liars (I need complete transparency in a relationship or I'll lose my little mind) • I hate people who are arrogant, and disrespectful. I hate bad lighting. My eyes don't deserve that treatment. There are so many little pet peeves I have that I can't think of because I'm tired lol. Just picture a grumpy old lady grumbling about nonsense and that's me. • I'm attracted to ambitious, optimistic people. Physical affection and acts of service are my love language all the way. Although, I do have trouble accepting help from people who I'm not super close to. I love flirting with someone I'm attracted to, man, I love the banter. It would be a wonderful balance for me to have someone who helps me relax more. • Strengths: I'm ambitious, I get things done, I work hard, I take initiative, I mother the people I care about (this can also be a flaw), I'm very generous with family and charities I care about, When I love someone, I love them completely, and they're my family. I've always got their back, and we can't forget my high libido, just saying • Flaws: Aw man, this will be the longest part of this submission if I'm not careful! I go through depressed phases that can last days, and I can get kinda irritable and mean. I'll ask any partner of mine to understand that I need a lot of space sometimes. Also, I take after my mother in the sense that I'm the type of person who has high standards for myself, and everything/everyone in my life, so I'm in a constant state of disappointment and frustration. bruh i am chao s
Matchup is under the cut
I’ve got the perfect guy for you!
Say hello to……………RANCHER (farmtale papyrus)!
Alright so you sound like the determined ambitious type. That’s definitely rancher’s type. He’s super attracted to people who work hard and have high standards. It motivates him to be his best self as well not that he needs it
Rancher is one of the less clingy skeletons as well. He’s good for a SO who needs space sometimes. He won’t die if he doesn’t see you for a day or two. However, he will strong arm you into taking breaks if he feels like you’re stressing yourself too much over the quality of your work. How can you expect to be at your 100% if you don’t recharge ever. And good luck dissuading him. Rancher is also one of the most stubborn skeletons lol
This man has insane stamina. Just sayin. He’ll be able to keep up with your libido ;))))
His receiving love language is verbal. So you being good at staying your love is big for him. Rancher can be pretty literal sometimes so he needs a SO who will be honest with their feelings instead of hoping he’ll guess them himself
If you’re learning Spanish, he can help with that! Both the farmer bros are fluent
The only problem I see here is him not really being able to travel with you. He can do day trips, maybe two or so days, but he’s not comfortable with anything longer. However rancher isn’t clingy at all and won’t be mad if you left him for a week to go out with friends. Bring back a souvenir

Chapter 27: The Great
Taking advantage of the fact that both human and skeleton were distracted with greasy breakfast, Flowey disappeared on the ground.
The last thing he wanted was to leave them alone with him, but after a week of nothing but jokes and not lethal pranks, he had to make a choice.
And there wouldn’t be much more time, if the determined hue of their eyes this morning was any indication.
~*~
Since he woke up on the true lab, Flowey had to make a lot of hard choices.
Abandoning his name or being guilty of all the events his previous life triggered.
Not meeting his father or being held expectant to what he used to be.
Never seeing his mother or being swallowed by her madness.
Give up on trying to help people or being merciless murdered.
Kill and live or hide and survive.
And after many and many failed resets, he had learned his lesson.
For a long time he had chosen to sneak around the cities, to help just enough so he wasn’t caught. To live just near enough to meet people and preach a more pacific way of life, but distant enough to flee at the first threat.
~*~
“Are You Ok?” the concerned voice had cut through his fear like the sharpened bone sword would cut his vines at any moment now.
It hadn’t yet, that had been last timeline, before he was captured and sent to the labs, this time he dodged the attacks in time. This time the guard looked at him with an expression he hadn’t seen in years.
“You Aren’t Dusting Are You?” The monster looked frantic, abandoning the fight instance, concern and guilt making him lower his guard “I Didn’t Lower Your HP That Much” not that Flowey could do anything to harm him, his pellets were too weak to harm a guard’s HP.
But if he lowered his guard, maybe a surprise attack now would dust him and allow Flowey to escape. He couldn’t go back to the labs, he would do anything to not go back at the labs! He thought about taking the easy betrayal kill, but he knew sooner or later he would regret the idea, and go back to his last save file.
“Your Soul” Flowey stopped, his body going colder than the snow below him “What Happened?” he looked at the new guard, really looked for the first time.
He was a skeleton, instead of eyes he had two holes on his hollow head, dim white lights trembling inside his skull. It was nothing he had seen before, it wasn’t nostalgic, it wasn’t relatable, it wasn’t recognizable in any way… But looking at those fearful eyes, something inside coiled at the genuine show of feeling, even if Flowey couldn’t feel it, he was compelled to say something to the monster in front of him “I’m fine”
“NO! YOU–/” He stopped himself and looked back to where he came from “YOU ARE NOT FINE, I CAN’T SENSE YOUR SOUL” Flowey never thought that shouting and whispering could go together, but the skeleton just proved him wrong.
“I don’t have one” There was no sense in lying, not when he could experience a reaction so genuine from a new monster, he was tired of the same faces.
“You Don’t…”
There it was, the moment of realization where every monster sported an horrified face, and gave him either pity or disgust, he wondered which one of the two his reaction would be.
“FEAR NOT” but the skeleton got on one knee, getting near his height, chest puffed with pride, like a real knight “THE GREAT PAPYRUS WILL FIND A WAY TO FIX THIS” and extending his hands he started to heal him.
A guard that was ordered to find him, dead or alive, actually healed him.
And on his magic he could feel, all the kindness and sincerity of his words, not a speck of malice, nor the lingering residue of disinterest of the paid healers, no, this monster wanted to heal him, not because he agreed on a price, but just because he wanted Flowey to be better!
Flowey was capable of healing, he had learned it from his parents. But being healed was so much better…
The feeling… that someone cared… that someone was there for him…
The new monster’s magic spoke more than he could ever describe with a straight face. He would cry, if he still had the ability.
“THE DOCTOR SHOULD KNOW WHAT TO DO” the sentence drowned all the warmth of his chest, or lack of it.
“No, please!” he tried to retreat, startling the monster before him “Not her, anyone but her!” but he was caught on his grip and couldn’t stop trashing “She will cut me open, please!” but he was trapped again, that’s what he got for dropping his guard “Please, don’t let her experiment on me again”
“AGAIN?”
“It’s her fault! I’m like this because of her!”
The lights in his head went out, he was terrifying like that “She… Took Your Soul?”
He wanted to say yes, but he was scared the skeleton could see through his lies, skeletons were powerful monsters, he remembered the stories his mother would tell before he slept.
“She… didn’t build me one”
The silence was palpable.
Neither of them moved.
He wanted to escape of the other’s grip, but it was useless.
His lights were still out.
He didn’t know what to think, and the environment was too charged for him try to say anything without being prompted.
“Cadet!” Came the strong yell, the monster went stiff, getting up abruptly, and Flowey saw himself free, but more trapped than before “What are you doing standing there?!?”
She approached, and he knew that at this distance, if he so much as tried to move she would see him, if he kept completely still the skeleton’s boot gave him the cover he needed.
“FORGIVE ME CAPTAIN!” yelled, body completely stiff “I WAS LOOKING FOR THE FUGITIVE”
“And did you find him?”
“I” that was the moment they sent him to the doctor “COULDN’T FIND A SOUL, CAPTAIN” was… was he covering for him?
She shouted aggressively, hitting the trees behind with spears “What are you waiting here for?! Move!”
“YES CAPTAIN!” he made a symbol with his finger… ‘up’, Flowey climbed his boot. Hiding inside.
~*~
The first person to try to help without knowing him… The first person to still treat him as a monster once he found out he didn’t have a soul.
This memory had been lost in time, many, many resets ago…
Papyrus didn’t need to remember that. No one need to know that. He escaped the lab before the scientist could know of his existence, made a point to avoid Undyne this timeline, and was sure that this timeline neither Papyrus or Sans had the chance of using the blue magic directly on him, and finding out his secret…
This timeline he did everything right… he tried, he really tried to make a difference… but it always got to the same point…
~*~
“But... Papyrus... You are my only friend...”
The lieutenant sighed, not looking at him “YOU ARE MY FRIEND TOO, FLOWEY, Just Not In Public, Ok?”
“But…” no matter what he did, it always came to this.
“NOT IN PUBLIC! I CAN’T BE SEEN HANGING OUT WITH A FREE-EXP!”
He took a brief moment to think, was there anything he hadn’t tried to say? “... No one is going to hurt you for it” he was sure he hadn’t said that one yet, but it seemed to be the wrong choice either way.
“ARE YOU SUGGESTING I AM SCARED?” He was scared of be seen as weak, of becoming a target, everyone in the underground was, and everyone would kill before admitting that.
“I can protect us!” but Flowey had to try.
“HA! YOU SHOULD GIVE MY BROTHER SOME LESSONS ON HUMOR!”
“It’s true!” He didn’t want to lose his best friend.
“YOU CAN’T.”
“I can! I can tell what is going to happen and–/”
“AND I WILL HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. OR WILL YOU RETHINK YOUR FOOLISH IDEA OF MERCY?” He didn’t understand, Papyrus didn’t understand what he was asking.
“But no one has to die! If monsters can just–/”
“WOULD YOU KILL FOR ME FLOWEY?” He just didn’t understand… He had killed, and then he hadn’t.
“...” He always reseted after killing, it was just wrong, even Papyrus agreed that if something like this could be avoided, it should be.
“WOULD YOU KILL SOMEONE IF I ASKED YOU TO? IF I NEED YOU TO?” But he was insistent.
“I... could avoid us having to kill them...”
He gave an empty laugh, and Flowey knew he had lost him again.
Like all those other timelines.
“It’s Funny, Because Until Now I Would Kill Almost Anyone For You” Papyrus got up from the rock and walked slowly before turning to him “SEE WHO IS A TRUE FRIEND, AND WHO IS A FILTHY LIAR!”
“Wait, Papyrus!” He tried to follow when the skeleton started to walk, but a bone attack materialized in front of him
“IN THIS WORLD IS KILL OR BE KILLED, FLOWEY! I DON’T WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN UNTIL YOU’VE LEARNED THAT, AND IF YOU STILL HAVEN’T, I WILL MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND!” he threw a wave of bones in front of him, uncomfortably close, and disappeared on the snowy path.
So this time instead of resetting a few days and trying again, like he did so many times he could swear an entire year had passed. This time Flowey left his only friend at his own luck, and went to the Ruins, to talk with the flowers.
He knew no one was listening, but it had become a habit.
He was glad he did, because a human fell the next morning.
~*~
“WHAT IS THIS OBSESSION WITH THE HUMAN?” Papyrus always paced when he was conflicted “FIRST THE DAMNED DOGS CLAIM THEY ARE ONE OF THEM” It was a sign that there was still a chance “THEN MY USELESS BROTHER TAKES THEM TO THAT GREASY TRAP EVERY MORNING” The harsh movements and the agitation were scary, but gave him hope at the same time “THEN YOU COME BEFORE ME ASKING ME TO SPARE THEIR LIFE? HAVE YOU LEARN NOTHING ABOUT THIS WORLD FLOWEY?”
Apparently not, since he was standing in front of the Lieutenant of the Royal Guard, trying to convince him to commit treason and let a human reach Waterfalls.
“I WILL TELL THIS ONLY ONCE, DO YOU WANT THEM TO LIVE?”
He nodded profusely, his leaves were trembling, Papyrus last threat still hanging in the air, only now he couldn’t come back to life if he died.
“THEN DON’T LET THEM FACE ME” His right eye light flared red as he stared directly into Flowey “BECAUSE I WILL KILL THEM AND BRING THEIR SOUL TO THE KING”
“Papyrus...” he was so tall standing in front of him.
“OR BE KILLED TRYING, IN NAME OF ALL MONSTERKIND”
“Please...” standing still…
“I ALREADY WARNED YOU, SO CONVINCE THEM TO STAY IN SNOWDIN OR DECIDE WHICH ONE OF US YOU WANT TO SEE DYING”
“There is another way” Floyey pleaded, but he had seen this end too many times to hope.
“MAKE YOUR CHOICE FLOWEY” and with this the skeleton left.
~*~
Flowey couldn’t make a choice…
It was not his choice to make, not anymore…
And somehow he was glad.
One of the two would die… many, many times… until they gave up.
He just hoped they gave up from the fight, and came back to Snowdin.
He just hoped that they weren’t like him…
That when they got stuck in a challenge too big to surpass, that they didn’t got angry… and striked the enemy down.
They were human, and humans could deliver so much damage when they were angry…
He didn’t want to see it…
He didn’t want to see his sibling’s blood… over and over again staining the snow.
He didn’t want to see his – former, he forced himself to think – best friend’s dust… blowing on the wind, just like any other monster… not even a proper burial…
But even if they did kill him in the end, they would certainly be guilty and try again, right?
They wouldn’t go ahead if they killed, right?
They wouldn’t save over a monster’s death…
They couldn’t…
He…
His leaves were still trembling, even without the eminent danger, if he still had emotions he would think he was scared.
But he wasn’t.
He didn’t have emotions.
He didn’t have a soul.
And if he, who didn’t have a soul, still had the hearth to do the right thing, and not save after killing someone. Then they could do the same.
And if they didn’t?
Well…
He just had to make sure to remind them.
The easy or the hard way.
Luckily for him, he learned a thing or two with past resets.

Bark at the Moon Chapter 14: Wild Type

Or read on my Ao3>
Rating, Setting: Gen, Pre-canon
Chapter Warnings: None
Chapter Summary: He's survived this long. But there's not much to scavenge in the depths of Snowdin's forest. He can only hope something turns up... and boy, will it.
He stretched, pulling the magic back out to his extremities after a night curled up, working his claws into the soft earth and yawning widely. He shook any remaining stiffness out with a clatter, and ignored a painful twinge in his leg. He rubbed at it with his snout, soothing the ache, but he had a task at hand. An old injury couldn't interfere. He dug into the dry leaves that served as their bedding and heaped a little bit more over his brother, then stepped out from the den.
He sniffed the air--clean snow, sharp pine, musty leaves and earth from the hollow behind--nothing new. Nothing dangerous. It was safe to forage. He stretched again, rolled around in the snow for a bit, then set out.
He wove through evergreen brush and fallen branches along a well-worn path. Navigating down a rockfall with careful leaps, he landed on the stony banks of the river, loose cobbles clacking underfoot. Putting his nose to work, he sniffed along the river's edge, hopeful. It was rare, but he'd once found discarded food along here... maybe there'd be more today.
Oh! What was that? Not food, but there was something interesting caught on a branch in the water. He waded in and pulled at it with his jaws until it came free--a piece of something soft. This would be nice to lay on. He got it back on land and shook it out, then blinked... the thing was wet, and wet things froze, and this thing would be useless frozen. He needed to do something to stop that... he needed heat. Oh! He had heat! He laid the piece out flat and went over it with his beam, the power set low to dry it with a careful precision. When it wasn't damp anymore, he picked it up, head held high as he avoiding snags and rough terrain. He'd solved the puzzle--he was clever, he was good.
He reached the den and hooted as he entered, his latest prize in his jaws. He scraped out the most deteriorated of the leaf litter, then fussed with the soft thing to get it just right. It would be a nice surprise for his brother when he woke up. Content with his final arrangement, he chirped his satisfaction before heading back out. He still had to find food. Loping between the trees, he struck off towards the river again.
But his resources were dwindling, and he hadn't been able to find food for a while now. No berries anymore, and the mushrooms from the warm part of the river were gone too. He couldn't take from the farms--he'd done that once and it made him feel so bad the memory still made him cringe. It was all the food he could possibly need, but he couldn't take what wasn't his. His best hope was something discarded... or...
A shout.
He froze and perked up, head swiveling in the direction the sound had come from. He waited--the sound came again, from a slightly different spot. The voice's owner was moving, quickly. He sniffed the air--nothing yet. Only sound. He tilted his head from side to side, then slowly wove it back and forth, trying to hone in.
There were hardly ever noises out here--much less a voice. It sounded like the scary lady from yesterday... She'd had food. He'd smelled it, had tried to get it... maybe she'd have it again today. He'd get it for sure this time. It was worth the risk.
The shouting came again, and he crouched to slink through the sparse undergrowth towards it. His bones blended in with the white snow, and he'd gotten very good at making only the softest sounds. This would be easy. Keeping a steady pace, it wasn't long before he was much closer to his target. There was still no scent to follow, but he caught a glimpse of movement between the trees, enough to see it was the lady from before. He changed his trajectory a little so he'd sneak up behind her.
There was a familiar feeling...
He caught the scent of food, and refocused. His brother was counting on him... This time, he'd use magic. Just until she was too tired to fight... There she was, walking quickly, looking everywhere. He crouched lower. He'd have to be very careful... He crept along as fast as he dared, until--now!
A line of bones jabbed from the ground before her, and she skipped back--another row rose behind her, and she whirled to see him leaping from the brush. She looked... happy...?
"Papyrus!"
He squinted. That was--how did she know his name? She'd said other things, but his name had stuck out... Why would she know it? He shut his eyes and uttered a short growl--he had to focus! He sent a row of bones at her, but she leapt over them easily... Oh right! He had to do the other thing! Next turn. He paid full attention to what she was doing--he had to be ready.
"Look, usually I'm all for a workout, but I dunno if you are. You look... kinda beat, man. So, JUST this once, I'm gonna go easy on you."
So many words--
The sharp ping of soul magic surprised him. He couldn't move, and the first spear took him off-guard. But he blocked the next, and a third, easily, tail lashing as he navigated this challenge. It felt familiar too...
But it was his turn now. He cast his special magic and turned the scary lady blue, then sent a number of bones at her. But she dodged those too, like she'd seen this before... His turn wasn't over yet--he braced himself and let a beam of magic loose from his jaws, catching her by surprise. Ha! That did the trick. He could win.
She picked herself up, rubbing her leg where his attack had connected. "C'mon Papyrus, it's me--your friend Undyne. You remember us hanging out, right? We used to do it all the time!"
She gave him a big grin, and he couldn't shake the feeling... No, he didn't want the memories to wake up. He knew they were painful, and pain was bad, so he shouldn't think about them. He shut his eyes and attacked again. He needed to win.
She grunted as a bone connected, then returned with her own attack. "We used to spar all the time too--you think I can't handle anything you dish out?!"
He was green again--and ready for the incoming spears. But then he wasn't, his mind foggy with tired, and Undyne threw another he wasn't prepared for--it hit his bad leg. He yelped--okay, nope, time to leave, get away!
"Wait!"
He was still green, and no amount of writhing let him budge. He spun to face his opponent and growled, jaws clattering. He didn't want to fight anymore, but if he had to--!
The lady wrapped her arms around his shoulders. He was too surprised to do anything, even as the lady lifted him up. This really was familiar...!
"NGGGAAAAAAHHHHH! FRIENDSHIP SUPLEX!"
Stunned, he laid helplessly as she rolled from under him and put him in a headlock.
"IF YOU DON'T REMEMBER, I'LL NOOGIE THOSE MEMORIES RIGHT BACK INTO THAT THICK SKULL OF YOURS! I'LL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO GET YOU BACK ALL THE WAY, PAPYRUS!"
He... he could almost...! This was so familiar--
Suddenly--!
He remembered bad cooking lessons and fire and laughter. He remembered snow wrestling. He remembered sparring sessions that left them both winded but exuberant. He remembered her.
He remembered all the trouble she'd went through to help him ever since this whole mess had started, and that their last conversation had been an argument. All the same... he'd missed her. He whined, and shoved his head into her side in apology, nearly bowling her over.
"Hey, shh, it's okay. I'm--I'm glad that wor--I'm glad you're back," Undyne said. Her voice sounded thick. "Here, we both landed some good hits. I didn't know if you've been getting much to eat, so I brought sandwiches."
At the mention of food Papyrus scrambled to his feet--but his body seemed to remember just how tired he really was, and he stumbled right back down with a whimper. Undyne eyed him with concern.
"Dude, I didn't hit you that much, are you--" She paused to cast a quick check, and frowned. "Gotcha. You've been out here a while after all... even longer than that first time you ran away. You must've been finding something to last this long, but... Here. It's nothing fancy, but I don't think that matters."
She dug into her backpack and pulled out a sandwich, and Papyrus almost lost himself again as he was overcome with hunger. He nearly snatched the sandwich out of Undyne's hand before she could unwrap it, and it was gone in a snap once she'd handed it over. He'd never been particularly food-motivated, but that was before he'd been deprived of it for so long.
"Whoa dude, take it easy. Try to enjoy this one, okay?" Undyne teased as she offered another. "I have a couple more, but they're for Sans... Um... he's still... around, right?"
Papyrus blinked, and nodded quickly before going back to tearing off chunks of the second sandwich and wolfing them down. He almost felt bad he wasn't saving it for Sans, but Undyne said she had more--his brother would get his share eventually. He needed to take care of himself if he was going to take care of anyone else--and the sandwich tasted really, really good compared to the various mushrooms and refuse he'd been scavenging from.
"Y'know I asked you to bring him... 'Course, maybe you couldn't. Eh, I bet he's just as lazy as he always is, huh?"
Papyrus looked aside and gave a short huff. That was... one way to put it. Undyne's smile faded as she studied his expression.
"Well, no matter what, we'll get him taken care of too. I've got a lot to tell you guys. Feeling better?"
Papyrus finished off his meal and nodded, offering a happy cluck. He wasn't sure he could get his voice working again--at least, not yet. But Undyne didn't seem to mind, and patted his shoulder heartily.
"Alright! If you're ready... let's go see him, huh?"
Papyrus wearily got to his feet and shook himself out. Sans probably wouldn't be happy about this... but then... he hadn't been happy for a long time. The initial joy of seeing each other again hadn't lasted after their new reality set in.
Papyrus turned towards their home of the last... however long it'd been, and trilled at Undyne. She nodded and slung her pack over her shoulders, ready to go. Without further ado, Papyrus lead the way at an easy lope while Undyne jogged behind him. Aside from their footfalls, it was utterly silent.
Ah, there was the tree he'd marked with his claws--he bugled a call to announce his arrival, and added a couple of hoots to relay there was something new. He doubted it would work, but... oh, that's what he could say--he uttered a trill to indicate food. That would at least wake his brother up.
Before they got much closer, he slowed down and turned to face Undyne. She slowed accordingly, looking puzzled, and he clumsily raised a paw and clapped it on her shoulder while giving her a stern look. He could only hope his meaning got across...
"You want me to stay here?"
He nodded, bouncing in place before turning to approach the den they'd made. He poked his head into the dark--Sans hadn't moved since he'd left, but at his entrance he blinked an eye open to look at him. Papyrus trilled again, nuzzling him before shoving his snout against his brother's sternum to push him up. Sans offered a low grumble and no effort to support himself; Papyrus growled back and pushed harder. When it was clear Sans simply refused to move, Papyrus picked him up by the nape and dragged him out.
Sans' initial reaction to Undyne was to hiss and try to back away, but Papyrus caught him by the back spines before he could shuffle further. He cooed at him, and gave another food-trill; on her part, Undyne sat and did her best to look friendly. Sans uttered a few more wary growls--but Papyrus wasn't surprised when his brother's eyelids lowered, and he sank back to the ground. Sans' reactions to anything these days was... short-lived, to say the least.
"Hey Sans," Undyne greeted. "I'm glad to see you're alive too, y'know?"
Sans just watched her from lidded eyes.
"You've gotta be hungry, so--I know it's not Grillby's, but I brought sandwiches."
Papyrus nudged his brother again, then trotted over to Undyne and picked up the offered food; as much as he still wanted it for himself, Sans really needed it. He placed the sandwich by his brother's jaws, and Sans gave it a tentative sniff. He rolled his head over and took a bite.... And that was it. Papyrus prodded him with a whine, but Sans only gave a raspy sigh and turned away.
Where Papyrus had become more motivated to find food and eat it... it seemed the opposite had happened to his brother. He wasn't interested in it... He wasn't interested in much of anything. Too much had happened.
Papyrus looked up at Undyne sadly, flicking his tail. He didn't know what to do to make his brother feel better anymore. Undyne studied them both and frowned.
"How long's he been like this?"
Papyrus thought for a moment how he could convey... He had no idea how much time had passed while they'd been out here, but... oh! He carefully drew a line in the snow, then a tick mark near one end and pawed at it.
"Uh... Oh... Since pretty much the start, huh?"
He nodded.
"Geez..."
Sans huffed a sigh behind them.
"Well, listen... You guys don't have to live out here. I know the last time you were around other monsters, they were afraid of you..." Undyne began. "But, there's a reason for that, and it has NOTHING to do with anything you guys did or what you look like. You need to know that."
Papyrus tilted his head. That couldn't be right--they were too dangerous, too scary to be around monsters. As soon as they'd been seen, they'd been attacked. He whined, looking away. They had to stay out here--it was better this way.
Undyne frowned. "After you guys ran away, we learned the truth. This flower--it looks just like a golden flower, the same kind the king grows--but, it can talk. And... it lied to everyone. It told the townsfolk you guys were dangerous, and that they should attack if they saw you."
Papyrus tilted his head again. Hadn't they talked to that golden flower...? About...
A snarl tore from Sans' jaws, and Papyrus whirled to see him rising from the snow, eyes wild and tail lashing. Papyrus backed away with a whine--the last time he'd seen his brother this angry, they'd been facing down their creator. Still growling, Sans' gaze darted as though the flower might appear at any second--and made the others jump when he suddenly fired a beam at a stick waving in the breeze. Panting, he twitched at any sign of movement--a blade of dry grass bobbed, and was instantly evaporated. A dry pine needle dropped and was scorched into oblivion before it hit the ground. Undyne called his name and raised her hand to placate him--
Papyrus leapt in front of her, taking the brunt of the blast. It couldn't do much to him, and maybe it wouldn't have done anything to Undyne either, but he didn't want her getting hurt. And it got Sans to stop.
Sans stared at him, steam trailing away from his jaws as he panted. His eyes winked out, and he sank down with a low moan. Papyrus loped over, warbling softly to show he was okay. Sans moaned again, looking up at him mournfully, and Papyrus nuzzled his snout. He'd forgiven him for this already, just as he'd forgiven the broken arm. It wasn't Sans' fault so many bad things had happened to him.
"Is he okay...?"
Papyrus looked up and chirped, waving his tail. His brother was okay, just sad and scared.
"That's good. I don't blame him for being so mad. Honestly? When I found out what that flower did? I destroyed a whole tree. We haven't found him yet, but, maybe once you guys are healed up you can help us look for him so he can face justice."
Papyrus made an uncertain groan. Somehow, he knew it wouldn't be so easy.
"But... we can deal with it later," Undyne continued. "Let's get you guys back home, huh?"
Papyrus lashed his tail. He was still scared, and knew Sans would be too. Was it really okay...?"
"Listen, if nothing else--I'll be right beside you, and won't let ANYTHING bad happen. If anyone even TRIES to start something, they're going to be facing ME before they can get near you guys. Heh... you know Papyrus, that was your idea. Guess I should've listened to you."
Papyrus blinked. He didn't remember that idea, but Undyne was saying she should have listened to him? He'd had a good idea? And she thought so?! He bounced, prancing around and chattering proudly, and Undyne laughed.
"Yeah yeah, you were right. If we wanna get back in time for dinner though, we better start now. You guys managed to get pretty far out here, so I'm afraid we've got a ways to go."
Papyrus hooted in agreement before turning to look at his brother, who was still laying in the snow. He gave an inquisitive chirp, then padded over and nuzzled him. Sans only rasped a sigh, and Papyrus' spirits sank. Didn't he want to go home? He nudged him, then thought--maybe he just didn't have the strength--and bounded over to pick up the unfinished sandwich and offered it to him again.
But Sans weakly turned away.
"I can just carry him," Undyne offered, and Papyrus whined. He wasn't sure he'd let her...
But Undyne stood and walked over, rolling her shoulders as she thought how best to go about this. She bent, wedging her hands under Sans' ribcage and hips, and much to Papyrus' surprise lifted him without complaint or protest. She draped him across her shoulders, and he hung limp--it seemed he really had given up. Undyne did her best to brace him, then turned.
"See? Easy. He doesn't even weigh like, anything. Also, I guess you can have the rest of that," she said wincingly, indicating the sandwich he still had in his jaws. "I've still got another in case Sans decides he's hungry on the way, and we'll be getting back to civilization soon enough. If there's anything you wanna bring with, you better grab that too."
Papyrus thought, then knocked his head back to finish the sandwich off before heading to the den. He didn't think there was anything, but... He dug through the leaf litter a bit, but all that remained was the scrap of fabric he'd found earlier and a few old food wrappers he'd scavenged. Nothing he needed. He popped back out, giving a short bark to indicate he was ready, and Undyne grinned.
"Alright you guys, let's head home."
Papyrus needed no further encouragement, happily following her as she retraced her path back to Snowdin. Snowdin! He'd be seeing it again! His real house, his things--he'd spent too long trapped inside it once, but now he just wanted to curl up in his own bed, play with his action figures, read his puzzle books again. And if Undyne was right, then he'd even get to see his neighbors and there'd be no screaming, or attacking, or fear or panic or hurt or--
Undyne looked back at him, having noticed his bones rattling. "Everything okay, punk?"
He snapped his head up and chirped. Yes! He was alright, those nerves wouldn't get the best of him. He was a very brave skeleton.
They finally set foot on a road, and Papyrus froze. The last time he'd been on a road, he'd... Focused on making her way forward, it took Undyne a little while to notice the lack of footsteps behind her. But she finally did, and turned.
"Papyrus...? Oh." She made her way back to him. "Still nervous, huh?"
He could only remain still, too full of dread.
"C'mon, it'll be okay. Everyone's been going crazy not knowing if you guys are alive."
She reached out and patted his shoulder, and he took a deep breath. That's right. She was his friend, who wouldn't let anything happen to him or his brother. It would be fine. He took a hesitant step forward, and Undyne kept her hand on his scapula the rest of the way. A light snow was beginning to fall, but something about the air pressure told Papyrus it would become heavier soon. He hoped they got home before it got too bad, but it seemed to mean no one was out and about. He breathed a little easier.
"Undyne?!" a soft, distant voice called, and Papyrus faltered. "Oh my god, it's Undyne--I thought I could smell her. Hurry up Dogamy, maybe she's found something."
"I'm coming, I'm coming," another voice replied, and soon enough, two figures materialized out of the falling snow on the path ahead--the Dogi.
Undyne waved eagerly. "I found them!"
Papyrus was unsure at first, but--no, no, he knew these monsters, they weren't going to hurt him and it'd been so long since he'd seen or spoken to anyone! He bounded ahead to meet them, circling the two exuberantly before running back to Undyne. The Dogi seemed taken aback though, and he hesitated--oh no, had he scared them...?
"Is that...?" Dogamy piped up, and Dogaressa reached for his paw.
"Not that we doubted you, but, it's something else to see in person... They really are shaped differently," she said, taking in the brothers' altered forms. "Are they alright? How can we help?"
"Being attacked and fending for themselves has done a number on 'em, but they'll be okay," Undyne answered. "Right Papyrus?"
He chirped an affirmation, and the Dogi both tilted their heads at the odd sound. Oh, that was funny--he chirped again, and they tilted their heads the other way.
"What's that sound?"
"Why's that sound?"
"Papyrus, quit messing with 'em" Undyne laughed. "Uh, I guess it's complicated, but, as far as I can tell, when he's like this, it's harder to talk for some reason. He can still understand us just fine, he just... can't talk."
Papyrus whined, and the dogs seemed to understand that well enough, their tails and ears drooping.
"Well, what do you need us to do, Captain?"
Undyne pursed her lips as she thought. "I'm not sure... I don't think they want to meet everyone just yet, so I wouldn't go sounding any alarms or making any announcements. Hmm... Papyrus, do you think Sans'll want to eat something from Grillby's?"
He shrugged to the best of his ability, dipping his head. It was worth a shot--and Sans seemed to agree, moving for the first time since Undyne had picked him up. Papyrus reached over to nuzzle him, then looked up at Undyne.
"Alright. If you guys could get something for Sans from Grillby's--you know what he likes, right?"
The dogi nodded.
"Cool. I'll pay you back when we meet up at the brothers' house, okay?"
The Dogi saluted, then Dogaressa turned to Papyrus.
"It's really good to see you're alright. We've been so worried ever since we heard Sans was sick... If there's any way we can help you two, please let us know, alright? I'm sure we'll see you soon."
"Absolutely," Dogamy confirmed. "Town just hasn't been the same without either of you."
Papyrus gave a low, wavering hoot, and bowed his head. He'd been missed... He felt very foolish, thinking that hiding had been the answer to his problems back when this all started. Really, it had only led to more, and he wished he'd seen that sooner.
They waved the Dogi off as they trotted ahead to put in Sans' order, leaving them alone on the road again.
"See, told you guys didn't I?" Undyne started as she set off. "No one wanted that mess with the flower to happen, and have missed you guys for even longer. Even I didn't realize how much you meant to everyone... They'll all be glad to see you."
Papyrus hooted, and nuzzled her arm before taking the lead. He was feeling much better about how things would go now. The first lights of town shone through the steady snowfall, and a feeling he couldn't describe filled him. He hadn't seen it like this in so long... but he'd decided--his days of hiding were over from now on.
They made it to their house without further encounters--the snow had begun coming in thick, so no doubt a blizzard would be keeping everyone hunkered indoors. Papyrus was a little disappointed--but, he knew Sans wasn't ready for so much attention, even if he normally thrived on it. Undyne laid him down on their couch, then helped Papyrus clean things up after his home had been left neglected. He also took the time to clean himself--unlike other animals, or even monsters, skeletons didn't exactly have many ways to groom themselves. His hands and feet in particular had mud staining them, and the hard-to-reach spots between his vertebrae especially needed tending. It was a relief to clamber into a warm shower and wash it all away. Sans needed a good scrub too, but they could see to that later.
It wasn't long before the Dogi had arrived with the order from Grillby's; Undyne took it, paid them, and bid them goodnight before bringing the food over to the couch. Papyrus had just gotten a clean blanket out, and the two converged on the small, listless skeleton. Papyrus flung the blanket over him, working to spread it evenly over his spines and tail while Undyne got his favorite order unwrapped.
"Alright bonehead, maybe that sandwich earlier wasn't your thing, but we got you a burger from Grillby's. That's gotta sound good, right?" Undyne coaxed, placing it next to Sans' head.
Papyrus watched in anticipation as his brother sniffed at it--but then, only took a tiny bite before turning away again. A sharp wail burst from him--this was his brother's favorite food and he still wouldn't eat! What was wrong, what could he do, was Sans sick, would he die?! He paced anxiously from one side of the room to the other before Undyne stopped him by the shoulder.
"It's gonna be okay Papyrus. I know you're worried--honestly, I am too. But, maybe Sans just needs some time to rest or process stuff. You guys have been through a lot, so..."
Papyrus wanted to say that he knew. His thoughts were getting clearer, but his voice was stubbornly clinging to animalistic expressions. He couldn't say just how bad it was--he could only sit on the floor and shiver.
Undyne frowned. "I... don't really know what'll help. But, I was thinking... maybe I should stay with you guys for a while, make sure you're settled in. We can make snacks, watch movies... actually... actually give you guys something normal, for once. Does that sound okay?"
Papyrus nodded, and she pulled him into a hug. He didn't know if he'd be able to relax, but he wanted this house to feel like his again. He also wasn't ready to say goodbye to Undyne yet, even if he knew she'd be back soon. So they set things up, found Mettaton's 24/7 movie channel, and got comfortable. At one point, Undyne decided to noogie him, and it turned into an all-out wrestling match. She managed to pin him, and he was too tired for another round--but it had felt good to roughhouse.
It was well after Undyne had fallen asleep that Papyrus hopped up onto the couch, stepping carefully around his brother so he could curl up next to him. The burger still sat by his head, cold and untouched; Papyrus was careful not to disturb it in case his brother would want it later. His brother... Papyrus nudged his snout, checking on him--it was hard to tell if he was asleep or not, his eyes half-open and breathing slow.
Oh Sans... It seemed like he really had given up--not just on being his old self, but even trying to move forward as who he was now. Whatever had happened before they'd reunited had taken its toll, and Papyrus could only wonder what had driven his brother to such complete apathy. Attacking people he'd once been friends with probably didn't help either... and then, when he'd startled him one morning and been bitten... Regardless, Papyrus knew he had to make his brother see a reason to keep going, but he didn't have the slightest idea how. Even when they'd been trapped in a lab, treated as little more than curiosities, Sans had never been this bad. He was at a loss...
But, too sleepy to keep thinking about it. Laying on something soft, in a safe warm house, with his brother and his friend by his side, was lulling his eyes closed. He knew his body needed the rest, so he let it. As soon as he could, he'd work on getting his real voice back if only to talk some sense into his brother.

Headcanons for some of the boys? Namely horrorfell, underswap and underfell?
you let me off my child leash and i honestly wasn’t even really sure where to even start here, so you get some pretty general headcanons. i have a lot to say about underfell and horrorfell,,,
UNDERSWAP:
IN ALL HONESTY, Underswap is currently one of my least developed AU interpretations. I'm still just really indecisive. BUT! I do have some stuff that I'm fairly set on.
Papyrus:
Never really grew out of the shyness he had as a babybones, he’s always had a much more outgoing brother to hide behind.
He's the one that designed the puzzles in Snowdin! Puzzles are still one of his special interests in this AU. (Sans gets really excited to tell anyone that asks that his Very Cool little brother designed them.)
He's fairly low to mid (but consistent) energy. He tries (and usually succeeds) to act all chill but he gets really excited about some things and can reach True Papyrus levels of loud.
He and Undyne are still friends in this AU! He doesn't go to see her super often because. Hotland. But when they are together, it's pretty chaotic. They like to design things a la Mickey's Dick Smasher.
Man, he's sure been feeling a lot of deja vu lately. Huh, wonder what that's all about. :)
Sans:
He’s still the Judge! And he's still the one that has to deal with the ever shifting and resetting timeline. It's...really starting to take a toll on him, but what's the point in telling anyone? They won't remember and besides, who's going to believe him anyways?
He was always fairly outgoing and bubbly but he took on an even more bubbly persona kind of unconsciously to overcompensate for and hide how Tired he is now.
Sans is just about the opposite of his brother energywise. He's full of energy for short bursts and then he sleeps for hours. He's started sleeping more since everything with the timeline started. It's not the best sleep but he’s just...so tired nowadays.
Still completely willing to eat condiments for a joke (or a """joke"""). He eats mayonnaise by the handful. Does it mostly to embarrass (and disgust) Papyrus.
Genuinely enraged by people who think he's young. Sure, he may be only a few inches over 5', but he's a Wide Boy. And not a naïve child, he's the older brother, thank you very much. Haven't you heard his voice? What kid has a voice that deep?
UNDERFELL:
One general headcanon I have is that they both have DT in their systems. Gaster gave them injections when they were still very young babybones in the sterile lab and they’d started mysteriously falling down. He’s not really a bad guy there, he wanted to save them. Of course, it’s probably got it’s side effects, right? After all the Bromalgamate and Comic Papyrus exist. :)
Their relationship is...strained. They definitely still love each other and would fight to the death for the other but they don't really talk. They both blame each other for how the other turned out, how they act.
Papyrus:
He’s blind in his scarred socket! He first got the wound when he was still pretty little and because he and Sans were still living out on the streets, he wasn’t able to get any real kind of medical care. It’s still pretty fragile but there’s really not a whole lot that can be done anymore.
He can cook! Like, really well, actually. Grillby taught him when he was younger. He’s particularly good at cooking with whatever’s already in the house.
I think he still wants to believe everyone can change and be good if they try. Though, whether he actually believes that anymore is kind of debatable. And I think that he doesn’t really enjoy all the fighting. He doesn’t take any real pride or joy in what he's become. He really wanted (and still wants) to actually protect monsters.
There's a square of fabric on his scarf that's from a well-loved blanket he'd had as a babybones. It still brings him some semblance of comfort when he needs it.
He's well aware of timelines. Well okay, 'well aware' isn't exactly the right way to put it. He can't put a name to what's happening, why he can remember things that haven't happened yet or have happened at all. He at one point attempted to keep a journal about it all but it was gone the next reset. He'd like to talk to Sans about it, but given how their relationship is...
Sans:
He’s got 3 golden teeth, he got hit pretty good almost directly on those teeth around the same time Papyrus got his scar. They were really loose after that but didn’t actually come out until later.
Most still see him as free EXP. He doesn't get attacked as much anymore but the times he has, he's been able to suffice on just dodging until Papyrus shows up. He could just as easily fight back, but he's decided there could be some benefit to hiding what he can do for just a bit longer. Besides, he'd rather not place any more targets on their backs.
He knows how to sew! He learned completely out of necessity when they were both young. They only had so many pieces of clothes, after all. He's the one who sewed the little square of Papyrus's blanket into his scarf.
King of eavesdropping. Despite his stature (and who his brother is for that matter), he's surprisingly good at going unnoticed. He tends to play like he's completely shitfaced and passed out at Grillby's, just in case someone lets something slip.
They both blame themselves for how the other turned out but Sans has it bad. He's supposed to be the older brother, right? He was supposed to keep Papyrus safe and stars, did he do a shit job at it, even if there were some things he just couldn't do anything about.
HORRORFELL:
OKAY SO, my Horrorfell doesn't start the same way the normal Horrortale AU starts. The short version is that Frisk doesn't fall until YEARS after they normally would have and they fall with Aliza. The Famine devastated the Underground. Frisk's left to try and figure out why they didn't fall when they should have and why they can't remember anything that happened during those years between. They have to balance keeping themselves and Aliza alive and trying to get through to at least Sans, who, while his memory is terrible he knows he's supposed to be pissed at them. They left the Underground to rot. I think that's all y'all really need lmao. I'm definitely going to write about Horrorfell, in fact I've already started something about it
ANYWAYS! On to the headcanons for the Boys. These two are so ride or die now it’s almost unreal. They’ve had a lot of time to air out their grievances and have the years worth of fights with each other. They work together so much better now and it comes in handy for both protecting each other and hunting. They're the most efficient and successful hunters in the Underground.
Papyrus:
He’s effectively completely blind at this point. He needs coke bottle lenses to see. He ends up completely depending on his hearing and sense of smell when he's hunting. Despite his failing eyesight, he remains the best chef in Snowdin after Grillby's disappearance. He's always sure to use as much as he possibly can.
His new stature has made it incredibly difficult to get into most buildings. He often ends up walking on all fours and his magic's started to adjust his body for that. He doesn’t recognize himself so much anymore.
While Sans was comatose, Papyrus spent his time trying to ration out food, attempting to keep the peace for the denizens of Snowdin and caring for Sans. He'd continued to cut his own rations not only for the rest of Snowdin but for Sans too when he hopefully wakes up.
He'd managed his way out to the rest of the Underground with his own brand of 'shortcut' earlier on despite the lockdown in Snowdin. Some say they'd seen him but no one's really sure if that's true and if it is, how did he get out? Can he do it again and maybe talk some sense into the Empress? They used to be friends, right?
His memory is also not very good. He and Sans keep a big whiteboard in the kitchen with pertinent information and there's a calendar in every room with all the past dates marked off, just in case someone forgets.
Sans:
The reason why the hole in his skull is so big and leads into his nasal cavity is because of preexisting cracks. Undyne really didn't mean to hit him! Really, she didn't...
The selfish part of him almost wishes the DT in him hadn't kept him around, but he can't bring himself to really want that. He can't leave Papyrus alone, especially not now.
His relationship with Frisk is...tense to say the least. When he first saw them, he didn't fully process who they were but he felt nothing but rage. He doesn't really believe what Frisk's saying when they claim they can't remember anything. Their relationship could absolutely mend, there's just so many roadblocks at the start.
Seeing as he can't reliably use his shortcuts anymore, he's not as efficient a hunter as he could be. But that doesn't mean he isn't extremely deadly. The brothers are revered for the effectiveness, after all.
He's developed some pretty nasty coping habits, most of which involve some kind of self harm either intentional or not. Papyrus tries his best to limit it, but he's not the best either.

How would Mutt and Brass react if they found out their crush/so was having to deal with a stalker at work but they couldn't do anything because the stalker hadn't "done" anything yet beside creep them out. Their boss won't do anything and makes them deal with them as though it was business as usual. (I've been loving your imagines btw, I think you're writing is great!!!)
Finally ready to get back to business!
SF!Papyrus(Mutt)-
Mutt will be furious. At first, he’s going to think that you might just be over reacting, his tendency to be protective can be seen as such, but after tagging along to your work a day of two in a row he’ll realize just how bad it is. The guy in question isn’t too threatening, but the creep factor is up to 11. Creepers jeepers will sometimes just come in and stare at you from across the store for an hour, or he’ll ask for you to reach things up high or down low to ogle at you. Mutt can feel his magic boil in his bones as you force a smile at the creep. It never crosses the boundary into actual harassment, but from what Mutt can sense from this guy’s soul he isn’t just going to just stop at being a creep. Their soul radiates a sour feeling that makes Mutt feel gross just being around the guy.
It crosses the line big time when he decides to come back to walk you home that evening. Standing a little ways away from the store’s back door is Creeper holding what looks to be a camera bag. Mutt teleports you out of there before the guy can get any pictures of you, but that was the straw that broke the camel’s back.
If he were still in the underground, Mutt would have beat the man to a bloody pulp long ago, but here on the surface he can’t really go around hurting people without getting arrested and hurting Sans’ reputation. He’ll start by trying to find you a new job somewhere that will keep you from having to interact with the creep, maybe something where he can keep an eye on you more often, but if he can’t find anything he might just have to get a little more creative.
---
“hey alphys, hello love.” Mutt calls as he enters the store front. The two of you turn to greet him as he notes your more relaxed posture from the last time he visited. “i’ve got her for the rest of the day alph, you can head out now.” He grins lazily, gesturing to the door with his thumb.
“See you tomorrow twerp!” The scaly commander sings as she jumps off the counter she was perched on and jogs out the door.
“so, how has your first week with a personal creeper guard been?” Your tall skeleton asks as he leans over the counter to plant a kiss on your head.
“Well since you started he’s only come in twice. The first time Sans all but stabbed him with his eyes till he left. The second time was today. Alphys started sharpening her axe and made constant eye contact with him when he came up to pay and I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone so pale in my life.” You huff out with some laughter. Music to Mutt’s ears. He gripped your hand over the counter and brushed his thumb over your knuckles.
“i’m glad to see you’re doing better love. i think he’ll get the message and stop entirely pretty soon.” Mutt grinned at you.
He had set up a guard schedule between all of your closest friends to make sure that you were never alone at work, and especially as you left work. This way they could scare creeper off when he tried anything and there would be witnesses to his actions if things escalated. The part he didn’t tell you about was that he also had two of the dog patrol watching the place and slashing creeper’s tires any time he parked nearby. It was a little on the petty side, but if he couldn’t beat some sense into the guy personally for bothering you, he could at least make his life a living hell for it.
MF!Sans(Brass)-
If you want he’ll just kill the guy. He’s a mobster, he kills on a regular basis to protect his family from the other mobster groups. He isn’t a fan of getting his hands dirty, blood gets into the grit of his bones, but he also doesn’t shy away from it. In fact, unless you tell him not to, he might just kill him anyways. Some freak wants to bother you and has the nerve to stare at someone that’s already his. Yeah, no. If you do say that you want the creep alive then he’ll find another way. That doesn’t mean that the creep will make it out unscathed at the end of it though. Brass will stay with you for the first few days until his posse is able to get an idea of this guy’s movement and schedule and learn when would be best time to strike.
In that time, Brass will have the struggle of a lifetime not just telling you to quit your job and let him support you entirely. He has the money and power to, you would be out from under the perverse staring and safe in his arms. You want to keep working though, to support yourself and keep busy, so all he does is keep you safe and bide his time.
---
The man trembled as he came to consciousness. He was tied to a chair with a sack over his head, but he could tell he couldn’t have moved even if he was free. Every part of him was sore like he had taken the brunt of a truck’s grill to the face. He could hardly remember how he got here. One moment, he was on his way to see his favorite little prey, and the next-. The sack over his face was roughly pulled from his face, yanking his head up with it and causing a roll of nausea from the sudden jostle of his pained body.
“say pal, don’t suppose your dirty soul is thinkin’ of someone right now, huh?” A deep, growling voice asked of him. As the man flinched, he looked up to see two bright gleaming red lights lightly illuminating a fiercely, grinning, skeletal face. He likely would have screamed at the sight if he had not seen the face many times before. The same face that would walk arm in arm with his little prey. “normally people who mess with my family, or in this case, those who will soon be my family, end up buried in shallow graves or sunk at the bottom of the lake.” Brass glared down on the man with a look of carefully reigned anger as he spoke. “you are lucky however. ya’ see, the sweet lady you’ve been harassin’ has a soft little heart. she made me promise not to kill ya, no matter how much you deserve it.” Brass approached his captive, cutting the rope holding the man to the chair while still keeping his hands bound in front of him.
“I-is that it then, am I free to go?” The human asked with a scratchy broken voice. A dark chuckle shook through the skeleton.
“nah, pal. you’re not quite done yet.” Brass grinned as he dragged the man over to a rather large crate holding a jug of water and a brown paper bag, tossing the limp body into it. “you’re going on a bit of a one way trip.”
The human attempted to move out of the box, but the lid was secured into place before he could even right himself. On the lid, the words, ‘Antarctica’ were printed in bold letters alongside an address. Brass spoke with an associate of his, one of his cargo pushers, and gave him the instructions for the package. After that, he left the warehouse he used for his “business” and made his way to your work to tell you the good news. You’d never see that guy again.
(Brass is a mobster, he’s gonna handle things with a deadly hand, even more so than Mob since he’s seen a lot more violence in his life.)

UT - Growing Pains
Summary: Even if they don't fully understand it, the monsters try to offer Frisk comfort and support when she gets her first period.
With a thundering heart, a lump in her throat and tears pricking her wide eyes, Frisk stared down at the wet, warm fabric twisted around her ankles.
Something was wrong with her. Her HP hadn’t changed and yet she was bleeding.
She had woken up, achy, hot and needing the bathroom just a few minutes ago. She should have known the dull, deep stomachache wasn’t normal, but seeing the dark, sticky seat of her pajamas only compounded the growing panic. Blood, she’d seen before. Blood that appeared for no reason? How could that happen?
A choked noise escaped as her first thought was of resets—something she’d done, a fight, an injury from another timeline, quite literally bleeding into this one, but how could that happen without any HP evidence? She had checked and doubled-checked it, finding no damage, which meant healing items wouldn’t do anything to help.
Was she sick? The tremors running through her and the feverish heat clinging to her might confirm it. Alphys might figure it out, but if it scared her as much as it was scaring Frisk, what if she couldn’t focus on finding a way to fix it?
Don’t cry. You…You’ve had worse than this. A lot worse. Just…stay determined.
Sucking in a ragged breath and biting her lip to hold it, Frisk kicked off the stained pants and, after a moment’s thought, hesitantly shuffled for one of the bathroom towels to wrap herself. Legs weak underneath her, stomach throbbing and jittery with nerves, she shuffle-limped tearfully out of the bathroom and down the hall.
Mom will know. She knows a lot, she has to know. She can make it okay.
________________________________________
As it turned out, though she had no firsthand experience with it, Toriel did know. She now had Frisk bundled up against her on the couch, head resting on her knee as she ran a paw over her hair and warm forehead. With a low, quivery sigh the child relaxed, soothed by the ministrations.
It had taken some doing to get there; the early morning had been fraught with panic. Papyrus’ scream when he found bloody trousers in the bathroom had woken everyone in the house and forced Toriel to fight for some semblance of control. She had given the shortest explanation possible for the sake of time and then sent Papyrus to the store with a list of some basic supplies. Speaking of which, Toriel could hear his scrambling strides long before he kicked open the door.
“The great Papyrus returns! I bring all of the necessary provisions for your ultimate care and comfort, human!” he hollered breathlessly, grocery bags brimming in his arms. “You will be pleased to hear that after clearing the so-called ‘Feminine Care’ aisle, I took the liberty of sweeping the ‘Health and Wellness’ aisle for disinfectant, bandages and gauze!”
“As much as we appreciate your thoughtfulness, Papyrus, my child isn’t injured,” Toriel reminded him patiently.
“How can that be?” he scoffed as he shuffled his burdens onto the nearby table. At least a dozen packs of pads in varying sizes spilled out and onto the floor. “I was told before I left that she was bleeding and in pain! Is that not still true, human?”
Tired, halfhearted signs from Frisk assured him that it was very much the truth and he huffed, folding his arms and giving the Queen an expectant stare that spoke volumes of “You see?”
“U-Um, I’ve been doing a lot of research on h-human biology,” Alphys piped up. “T-Tori—Queen Toriel asked me to find out whatever I could s-since Frisk is staying with her f-for the foreseeable future…So anyway…No, she’s not injured, Papyrus. Approximately half of the human p-population experiences bleeding like this every month, once they c-come of age.”
“Wh—Seriously? Frisk is going to get laid up like this every single month? As in every month, every year, forever?!” Undyne sputtered. “That’s just a big hassle! Humans come with so many botched parts! Never mind bleeding out; if I were the one dealing with it, I’d probably just get bored to death!”
“Good heavens, Frisk is not going to bleed to death!” Toriel exclaimed, paw tightening against Frisk’s head as she shuddered. “It is only a small portion of blood to lose. She ought to be well again in a week or so. Correct, Alphys?”
“Yeah, that’s right! She should be j-just fine,” Alphys promised hastily, wringing her claws as she mustered the courage to rush on. “And, Undyne, I think that if humans like her do have to deal with this every month, it…it must make them p-pretty tough. Right? So Frisk shouldn’t, um…be made to feel bad about it. You know?”
She must have noticed how the flush in Frisk’s face had deepened, leading her to curl deeper into her throw blanket. After everything Frisk had done to influence their kind, it was easy to forget sometimes that she could still be a scared, uncertain kid. For a moment Undyne looked stricken at the realization, throwing her hands up in surrender.
“Oh! I wasn’t implying she should feel bad about it! She probably already feels bad enough; it’s gotta suck! It’s not her fault her body’s turning traitor. Uhh…” Hoping to compensate, she forced a toothy grin. “Hey! Maybe it’ll make for some sick scars!”
Rather unlikely, Toriel thought with some amusement, though she didn’t correct her. Undyne seemed to have the same trouble that Papyrus did, understanding blood without a wound.
“Hey, kid. I got a bag of rice warmed up,” Sans greeted as he strolled out of the kitchen toward the couch. “Should be nice for your side, right? Down but hot out.”
“Brother! You actually cooked something?” Papyrus gasped, belatedly forced to fight his instinctive smile in exchange for a distasteful sniff. “Of course, I would feel some modicum of pride for you if it weren’t for that infuriating pun!”
“Well, that’s not very rice of you,” Sans retorted, laying an affected hand over his soul. “That heat me too close to home! If you’re going to insult some rare, special edition cooking, at least give me some advance warming.”
He glanced to the couch, where the lump under the blanket was shaking in silent laughter. Toriel chuckled too and it spurred him on. “I put in a hot of effort to do this, y’know. It was no easy heat. Maybe it’ll leave a hot to be desired—or for all I know, this is as good as it sweats! I had to rice to the challenge and give it my best hot, for the kid’s sake. Don’t grain on my parade.”
“Alright, alright! By the time you finish, it’s sure to go cold!” Papyrus groaned, shoving Sans toward the couch so he could hand the rice bag off to its owner. “How did you successfully use the same ‘hot’ wordplay more than once in four sentences?!”
“I’m just that good.” At Toriel’s nod of approval, Sans poked a couple of fingers under the blanket, pulling its corner back to reveal Frisk wearing a watery smile. He returned it. “There, see? That’s the brave kid we know. You’ve got this.”
She accepted the hot bag with a signed thank-you, wincing faintly as she draped it over her sore stomach. It would stay toasty for a good, long while, warmth trapped under the blanket’s folds.
“And, uh, don’t tell your mom or anything,” Sans added with a quick wink to counter Toriel’s raised eyebrow. “But I might have snagged some chocolate I can sneak to you later. If you’re gonna be lazing around with me for a week, I gotta show you how to get cavities properly.”
“I must applaud your model example, my friend,” Toriel huffed, though it didn’t hold too much reproach. Her mind was already wandering. If Chara were still…That chocolate would have been long gone before Sans could come across it.
This bleeding was just another reminder of how quickly Frisk was growing up. How would Chara have treated this coming of age, had it come to pass? How comforted would Frisk be to have a sibling who understood?
With wistful fondness, she would always be left to wonder.

(i guess you can tell why i asked about ways you want matchups now haha, ignore if you want i don't wanna be a bother) i'm a non-bianary pansexual. i'm super into psychology and how emotions work, i love reading and singing, and i tend to wear flower crowns a lot. i'm not a big fan of being forced to do things, and i really dislike people yelling at me. i've got pretty bad adhd and i dissociate regularly, and i do the "what did you say?" "oh did you wa-" "yeah pizza sounds great" thing (1/2)
(2/2, sorry it's so long haha) i make lots of bracelets and i have a big tabby cat that i love to pieces, and i tend to get really protective of my friends when people threaten them. normally i'm ditzy and stupid-ish. i also take care of plants (that i've given names to) and i practice witchcraft. (again if you don't wanna answer this you can just delete it i don't wanna make you feel like you need to do it)
Hello again! Aww, there’s no need to apologize so much you’re definitely not a bother! I love doing matchups and I’m more than happy to do one for you. They're my favorite part of having this blog, actually. Yeah shitposting and calling it content is fun as well but with matchups, I get to give people who ask for them something personal, which is always fun! I love giving people things that make them happy. I could only hope that I did well enough with the matchups :) When I read through all of your information at first I was thinking that maybe you’d go well with one of the Papyri (is that the plural of Papyrus? Is that an actual term?? Whatever, it is now lmao) but then I immediately thought ‘wow okay maybe let’s not. all of them literally yell 24/7 and yeah they all mean well but it’s overwhelming.’ So then I went down a list of all the calmer skeletons and in the end, you did actually end up getting matched with a Papyrus.
I match you with Underswap Papyrus!
Well, as much of a Papyrus that the Underswap version could be, am I right? In this relationship, you will physically never have to worry about anything in your life. Seriously, I mean that. Papyrus is going to be there as your rock, the same courtesy he gives to his brother he’s fully prepared to extend to you. You may have the habit of getting protective when people threaten who you love, but Papyrus is that instinct tenfold. It’s going to be the number one priority next to his brother to make sure that you are always safe and happy. He’s endlessly patient and caring about your needs. Your habit of “what did you say?” “hm?” “Yeah sounds good!” will never phase him, he will only sit and say it again and never be annoyed or get tired of repeating the question. He’s used to it if he’s being honest. Sans does the same on a daily basis, so with his experience so far he has a pretty good idea of what to do and how to help (if you’d like him too). The same goes for your dissociation issues. Both of the brothers have experience in this department (both for completely different reasons) and he’s prepared to help out whenever it happens (once again, only if you’d like) or to just wait patiently until you snap out of it and you two can continue whatever you were both doing beforehand. It’s no trouble at all.
Papyrus is a really relaxed kind of guy. So naturally, the kind of dates you guys go on are going to be the same. He doesn’t really see the point of going anywhere, you know? He isn’t completely against it but it's also not something he specifically requires if that makes sense. If he ever does decide to take you out, it’ll be to places like parks or maybe even a greenhouse since that sounds right up your alley, or maybe it’s just him watching you go ham with buying plants. He’ll be half horrified at the amount of money you’re spending half (overly) supportive. If you were wondering, yes he finds it adorable that you’ve named the plants. You will watch him several times chatting it up with the plants.

You, exiting the bathroom: Hey pap did you pick a movie out yet or-
Papyrus, holding a small plant: no way she did that
You: wh-
Papyrus: oh my toriel
Papyrus: expose that bitch Susan
You: what the hell is happening right now
Papyrus: shhh
Papyrus: we’re having a conversation
You: ???
Papyrus: rude
----------
Otherwise, the date is guaranteed to be an indoor kinda thing. It can go from a cuddle session to you reading out loud to him, a karaoke session with him using an overly exaggerated awful voice, Papyrus throwing puns at you all night, you name it and he’ll have it done.
He also 100% is best friends with your cat. They’re soulmates. Attached at the hip. With one comes the other. If you ever have Papyrus curled up on the couch your cat is definitely on his chest resting as well. He’s always been more of a cat person seeing as he feels spiritually connected with their sleeping habits.
Slightly off-topic but there was this one time where he was at your place and caught you practicing your craft.

Papyrus, walking in: hey honey have you se-

You: oh y’know
Papyrus:
You: don’t mind me
Papyrus:
You: my place just needed some protection

----------
Does Papyrus understand a lot about witchcraft? No, not really but he’s supportive regardless. He just wants to see you laughing and being happy. Usually, when it comes to spending time together he’ll leave the choice up to you by default, but he’ll be pleasantly surprised if you switch it up and ask him instead occasionally.
If you’re interested in psychology and how emotions work you’ve come to the right skeleton. Which is pretty ironic seeing as he can be emotionally constipated the majority of the time. But scientifically speaking he knows plenty, he’s just bad at actually feeling and expressing them. It would be very interesting to him to hear everything you have to say on the topic since honestly, he could use any and all information he could get in this department.
If Papyrus had to pick only one thing about you that was his favorite, it’d be your tendencies to make bracelets and flower crowns. He normally wouldn’t wear stuff like that himself but if his cute date mate made them for him? They’re never going to come off of him. He’s sleeping? They’re on. He’s working? They’re on. At Muffet’s? They’re on. He’s gotten teased about it plenty but he really couldn’t bring himself to care because they’re just not going to come off. It’s kinda gross really. If he ever gets dirt on them he still wouldn’t take it off. It’s proven to be a problem.
