SKZ 5 STAR COMEBACK THOUGHTS

first, a review of the songs and then my overall thoughts!!

song review

Hall of Fame: from the get go, it establishes the space vibe with the opening tune! a great opening love the galileo and armstrong references etc, although the 'one small step' quote from armstrong, while it does fit the theme, kinda breaks up the song for me so it's not my favourite part. the build up in the prechorus is SO GOOD! the chorus is really punchy and i'm so in love with felix's little rap verse he really does make it iconic.

S-Class: so so so COOL!! the whistling part is so awesome and it starts with guns blazing with changbin's rap. HYUNJIN SLAYED THAT VERSE!! i really love it. all the raps are so good and the serpent road melody is so good?? THIS CHORUS IS HIGHLY ADDICTIVE!! the switch to a slower beat and the hip hop vibe was very unexpected but very welcome :) the buildup to the second chorus is so great omg i love how its the same but different! seungmin was really good in the we're special part ughhhh the dance break slayed so much as well i just have positive things to say about this song except maybe the ending i don't hate but also don't love how it ends

ITEM: GAMER ERA!! it's 'funnily annoying' just like they said in the intro video really does give video game vibes! super addictive and i love the diction as changbin focused on it really levels up the song. ITEM ITEM I ATE THEM PAC MAN!!! han's rap >>> i also like felix's celebrate we gonna elevate line that was so good i ate that shit up. EVERYTHING IS AMAZING NO WORDS!!! the bridge isn't my best but i really like the buildup to the final chorus and it overall slayed so hard. mv maybe?

Super Bowl: omg. literally. i can see how it was meant to be the original gods menu but im glad they saved it for five star because it honestly just fits so much better with this album and it feels a lot more cohesive. ENGLISH SONG KINGS!! every line is just pure mastery ugh i'm so hooked onto this song and the way chan says ruULes like >>>> changbin's rap ughhhhh and then jeongin saying the everything you're craving its all me like TOAST?? BABY BREAD WHO? and then the stunner HELL OF A LINE I KNOW ITS HELLA FINE HELLS KITCHEN TASTING DIVINE!! the backing instrumental is quite simple which works well because the singing isn't overshadowed. never thought i'd live to see the day hanji said 'bussin' but WHO ELSE?? such a killer like omg and then the chorus UGH I DIED the whispering the word play the seductive vibe with the urge to shake my ass off and ugh i can't compute. heyday reference by changbin!!! lee know's prechorus was so good ugh i really would like a mv or smth for this as well. the bridge was really good imo!!! and the transition from the 'bring the rain' to 'cooking up a storm' and having the same semantic field UGHHHH the ending with felix was so fine as well 🤤

TOPLINE (feat.Tiger JK): love love love the instrumental!!! braggadocios as they should be 😤 THE PRECHORUS IS MY LOVE I ADORE IT AN UNGODLY AMOUNT!!! SEUNGMIN'S VOICE!!!!! lmaoooo chan dropping in the 'we don't give a f***' i see now why he was so surprised with the Xdinary Heroes and their supposed uncensored swearing whereas he had to blur it out haha. the chorus DELIVERS! BOM DIGI DIGI BOM BOM BOM BOM! tiger jk is a rlly great rapper and i'm so happy that han gets his dream to rap with him bcs his rap slayed! and then the 'ain't nobody can do it like us' reference to circus!! >>> lee know slayed the second chorus ^^ great song :D the ending was so great <3

DLC: THIS IS SO GREAT!! the instrumental is so nice, a lot lighter than the previous songs and a nice break from the heaviness hehe. the tune is so addictive and i love the SUNRISE part <3. even if the lyrics are a bit sad, as @oh-the-aster-blooms put it, 'sometimes when you are sad, dancing all night sounds better', and i totally agree :) everything just kinda flows so well and their voices work really well together. i really adore i.n's 'run away run away' part my baby has such an angelic voice. the bridge is also cool :)

GET LIT: idk is it just me but for some reason get lit just brings worth it by 5th harmony to mind with the jazzy vibes at the start, but like...better (no offence to 5th harmony) this is such a swag brag song! the raps are so great to start off omg and then the sudden transition to seungmin's beautiful voice ugh THE CHORUS!!!! i love how felix does his line and it drops into the vibe. the next verse is so like subtle brag idk how to explain it but the swerve swerve part> i do feel imo that the bridge is bit disconnected at the beginning but when changbin does his 'speaker' part it flows really well. i like the dance break! it is a bit repetitive but oh well it slays anyways.

Collision: i saw someone somewhere say it was like chill on steroids (idk who u are sorry for not giving credit 🙇‍♀️) and its so true. it really has the same vibe like sad but also like vibey idk i think the instruments help a lot with establishing that mood. vocalracha slayed in this >>> so did hyunjinnie and lee know <;3 babe i loved you that line is so good felix >>> and BANG CHAN IN THE VERSE AFTER THE FIRST CHORUS?? so good ugh its like a rainy day kinda song when u just feel a bit sentimental. also felix and...was it lee know? in the second pre chorus? that sounded so amazing ughhhh i really like that metaphor of crashing its very bittersweet <3 han slayed again

FNF: such a strong start with chan!!! changbin and han's raps were so great and the prechorus was really like heart rending idk thats jsut the power of vocalracha ig and again as @oh-the-aster-blooms and i were discussing the chorus does have a great pace which does give the impression of trying to catch up! it gives off movie soundtrack vibes imo. the way they blended their voices with felix was so cool!! hyunjinnie slayed that rap damn. the bridge was so good as well. the meaning behind this song >>

Youtiful: such a sweet song showing their love for stay! chan's explanation was so TT i love my boys so much the instrumental is so soft and soothing and the lyrics >>> listening to this just made my heart warm. its the audio version of chan's big hug <3 this was a very good song for chan. also seungmin, lee know and i.n as well!! i could listen to my babe jeongin saying 'you are a miracle' for ever. the chorus slaps.

i don't really count these two as part of the album as they were already released/just a translated ver so its a lot briefer

THE SOUND (Korean Ver.): the Japanese version slayed, so does this. i liked how they changed the chorus, and everything just fits well idk sometimes i find the translated versions a bit jarring after being used to the og one but this is really good!

such a great album omg. i love all the songs!!! the line count has improved quite a bit (although lino is lacking in some parts) but overall its pretty fair imo factoring the roles different members play. they've definitely shown us a different facet of their music which is so cool and innovative! love love love

I'm back with one more MV analysis and this time we'll talk about Maniac. I highly recommend the reading of my latest analysis, where I talk about Venom. But, if you don't want to read it, no problem! I'll do my best to cover every topic here and give a good explanation

Just like last post, I will also put some unanswered questions in the end. And just like last post, I'm also tired lmao. Not proofread but I'll try my best.

With that being said, let's go!

The Quartet

In my last post I said I.N, Seungmin and Lee Know were up to something. I.N was a bad guy, Seungmin was somewhat a bad influence to Felix and Lee Know knew about the two realities (oddinary one and normal one). Now, may I add another gentleman to the group of suspicious guys: Changbin

Besides the scenes where they were together having fun and some others where they were together, Changbin alone deserves to be highlighted in this MV and that's why:

Clones

Yes, I.N is somehow related to clones because there is a scene where he is with a lot of clones. And everyone talks about that scene. That's important for the plot, of course. But for some reason I have never seen someone talk about Changbin's clones?

Here it is. Whatever ability I.N has or accident he suffered, Changbin has or went through the same. Now, I know everyone in the skzverse is suspicious and should not be trusted (besides han because apparently he didn't do anything wrong, but that's sus as well), but I am most skeptical about some people and now, Changbin is part of that crew.

Also, I don't know if that relates or perhaps I'm reading too deep, but Changbin's necklace is a heart. And with maxident, we know that hearts are not exactly a good thing

Back to our beloved quartet, we have

Lee Know

It seems like a joke, but Lee Know does know everything that's going on, or at least I believe so. And my theory is once again comproved in this MV

You know how I.N was cloning himself when he was alone? If you pay attention to the window, you'll see Lee Know looking at him. And later he says the following

There is no way of being sure if the lyrics match to the scene, as the SKZverse is built from the MVs and not the songs. But, if this line do match with what's going on in the mv, then we have a good theory here

Jeongin is an imposter. He pretends to be a friend and an ally to stray kids, but in reality he is a somewhat villain. But his eyes can't fool LK. Minho knows I.N's true intentions

You know how I.N's appearance is normal throughout almost the whole MV? Let's focus on a certain frame

When Lee Know mentions Jeongin's eyes, maybe he was being a little too literal. Maybe he can really see the real intention through his eyes. As we know because of Case 143, hearts are not a good thing. And if Jeongin has a heart in his left eye, that might symbolyze something bad

Felix

Now let's talk about the coolest thing here.

I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what was that in Felix's hand, but once I discovered it made so much sense!

Basically, that's a greek eye. Which is used to keep the evil away and protect the one who is using it. Felix is the only one wearing this jewelry, meaning he probably is the only one who needs protection. At least for now

So we are skeptical of I.N and Changbin mostly, because they are related to clones and hearts.

Seungmin and Lee Know play an important role, I believe both know something the others don't

Felix is once again in a bad situation where he needs to run away and protect himself from the danger

What is Seungmin doing with Hyunjin here?

Is Felix trying to run away from the oddinary reality?

Why was Changbin the only one walking backwards?

Why was Han left out from the first two choruses (he didn't dance with the others)?

Why was Hyunjin's skin reacting to the atmosphere in the begging, like he is attracted to whatever was going on?

Before Chan was my bias-wrecker- I was honestly blown away by Seungmin. For legal reasons Chan, but Seungmin. But also! Han's singing voice(s) are SO AMAZING. How can he hit such perfect vocals? It's honestly etheral. But also Chan in Mixtape: OH (and Jisung too) when he's singing that one note that feels so deep and real

Felix in Chk Chk Boom was awesome to watch, otherwise, any and all! Possessed Hyunjin is fun too. (Bang Chan in Thunderous)

I.....do not know many, but CHUSEOK SPECIAL : SKZ Family Returns? Han in it is so frickin hot like can we ignore the cheater/gaslighter he is but the WAY HE SAYS BABY and JAGIYA and with the glasses and hair (also the one where they're doing Helium voices and Han goes aigo in tiny is so cute and funny)

levanter being start of something new for skz, plus the song really is so good. when the dance part by lix comes up on the glass i feel struck.. either way i rlly love it and also the lyrics

both cell phone and technology came out. that could be literal or it could be referencing the way you communicate. maybe you're too direct or demanding of others or the total opposite and super shy and never speak your mind. either way, if you're on either extreme side of the spectrum, you need to balance that out.

additionally, you need to look back at your past. there's some sort of lesson you're forgetting or have skipped over. don't dredge up the past as a whole, just pick through trials and situations where you think you were supposed to learn something (or maybe did learn something) and reflect more on what exactly is was that you did learn or that you were supposed to.

you could be overfocusing on your need for intamacy with others, either in a relationship or friendship kind of way. you may be worrying a lot about your future life (future spouse, future friends, future career). planning for the future is important and thinking about it can be fun to do, but overindulging in it can stop you from being in the present. work on yourself now. divine timing will work out the rest 💛

My first bias: Namjoon (I think Namjoon is a lot of English speakers first bias because of his English skills, and honestly he still has a huge place in my heart as you know! Plus he BIG SEXY) (I think of mic drop Namjoon and my brain implodes)

My current bias: Jimin, I just love his softness, I really love the members that take care of the rest and Jimin plays personal therapist (it’s the libra in him I get it you know?) to all, so I really appreciate this as it’s a very important thing for me (it’s probably my libra moon lol) but that’s what got me at first, then when I was getting into them I saw he struggled and no one was really helping him and he was like trying to do better and honestly it broke my heart so I full adopted the baby because he needed care and protection and actives my Aquarius sun and the ‘leave no man behind’ and ‘help/root for the underdog’ complex we have, so anyways, I love him for his softness and his fighting spirit because I want him to do well and succeed but also he’s a mess and sharp witted and a cheater at games (another trait I tend to like??????? Like that’s on me so????) he makes me laugh and I love to see him do well and win at things because he deserves it!! He’s also really motivated and a go-getter which is v sexy to me!! When things are tough he always works hard to fix them and do his best and honestly is there anything better than that? To me no, to my friend who says I put to much emphasis on work ethic? Yes. Also Jimin is big sexy, this is an undeniable fact

Favorite Song: Dionysus (like have you seen the MMA 2019 performance??? There’s no coming back from that) the song is just such a bop and one of the big ones that got me fully into them and kpop as a whole!! Good memories and a great song!!

OTP: again, don’t really tend to genuinely ship anyone, but I really like a good YoonMin dynamic, love the way Yoongi roots for Jimin, and pushes him in small ways to be better, I think Jimin is pretty oblivious to this though??? And like Jimin needs so much audible praise and gentle care that I think Yoongi for him is very hard to understand even though I think Jimin is very much Yoongi’s favorite member, like maybe it’s because I’m super empathetic, but I always think of like two moments for them, the first is when Jimin was helping Yoongi makes those like 300 presents for his fans and Jimin stayed all day to help him out, Jimin was being Jimin so he was constantly asking if Yoongi appreciated him being there, and Yoongi being Yoongi didn’t say much to assure him, but like you could FEEL the happiness radiating off of Yoongi but like it hurt Jimin to not be directly praised? It’s just a big mess I love it, it’s horrendously painful to watch,

Then there’s the whole ‘Yoongi told me to be the project manager’ or whatever the job was called for their album, Like Yoongi wasn’t giving out advice to everyone... just Jimin (or at least the way in which I understand it), because I genuinely believe Jimin is his favorite and he’s pushing him to grow into a confident and capable person but like... I don’t think Jimin connected the ‘Yoongi is caring for me in his own unique way that isn’t words of affirmation’ dots... it’s a train wreck but I love it lol (plus also Yoongi saying he prefers Jimin’s voice?? When I think Jimin heard for so long that Kookie sings better?? He just loves that boy so much!!) anyways I digress, I just really love their dynamic and it’s my favorite to watch, I know I’ve talked about their dynamic before but honestly I could go on and on and on about it haha, I’m so glad they’re friends you know? Not only so I can watch them, but because Jimin’s selfless help will always be given to Yoongi without question, and because Yoongi will always push Jimin to be better... ok I’m done now for real this time lol

Astronaut theory

first of all, I am confusion lol

SKZ broke me in a way that my mind is overthinking so many things that now I believe that anything from their MVs might be a sign. And may I add that Chan's recent live only made me even more confused PLS BOY IF YOU SEE THIS DROP THE THEORY YOU SAID WAS QUITE CLOSE TO THE TRUTH cause I'm nearly losing my mind, I need answers!!!!

so here I am again trying to understand their concept and trust me, it's not easy or short and I don't even know if it's right which makes me even more frustrated... also, we may have lost some important pieces to connect the whole story bc we don't know what was taken from the original MV with ot9, so yeah…

anyways... let me put a guide for you guys cause I'm not gonna write the title of the songs all the time, so AS = Astronaut; DK = Double Knot; MH = Miroh; SE = Side Effects; VS = Victory Song; YW = Yellow Wood (teaser); D9 = District 9; IAY = I Am You

Alright, let’s go back to the beginning! In I Am Not teaser we see that each one has a specific function inside the system or is doing sth very particular, Felix is dancing in front of mirrors on a rooftop (where they always are on their MVs) with a building nearby that shows a sign with FAKE on it – clearly indicating that either Felix is fake or their reality is fake, or maybe both; Changbin is in a room full of TVs like MIA; Seungmin is drawing sth that looks like a map (but I guess it was supposed to be sth else?) but he’s also the one in charge of the maps in Double Knot; we have Hyunjin trying to control a VR system, he looks quite frustrated with it, and after Hyunjin removes the headset, we hear a sound similar to when a program is being interrupted on tv and his image is frozen, probably bc he was disconnected from the main system.

and the most intriguing part: we have Jeongin in a bus – also sth reoccurring in their MVs – and he sees another Jeongin sitting on the bus stop, as if waiting for him. We all know by now that it’s a double, a clone, or whatever you may call it (like I mentioned previously on my Side Effects analysis that clearly shows they have ‘shadows’ like other selves copying their moves).

we don’t see what happens afterwards, but I’m gonna assume he finds out something is not right in the system and probably tells Chan (their leader) about it. Why I think this? Because in MIA they both sing the following lines: “Something is different, carefully look around you” (which is exactly what Chan does in D9) and “Something is changing, even if you hide it so hard, I can see it all” (which is what Jeongin does on the bus and also in Miroh, cause he’s the one in the control room, right?). But the thing is… I believe that the fake Jeongin is the one with SKZ in District 9. The double took his place after he got off the bus and is acting like Jeongin would, helping SKZ and all, but his line “better watch out” shows sth different, it seems somehow too menacing, almost like a threat – at least to me. So SKZ better watch out now cause there’s a fake among them, but SKZ is unaware

moving on.. it’s also in MIA that we see SKZ being duplicated – it looks like it can’t be helped. We know for sure that there’s a double for Chan, Woojin and Felix. In the MV it seems like Hyunjin also has a double that is watching himself from the other side of the door while the one inside the room says “Why are you staring at me again?” and then we see a surveillance camera (they’re onto Hyunjin, but Hyunjin seems to notice it).

this may seem dumb, but Changbin is duplicated in Get Cool (and like I said, any evidence is evidence lol). I don’t remember seeing Jisung, Seungmin and Minho being duplicated in any MV, and isn’t it weird that they’re the ones we see on the cage in AS?

in My Pace we have seven numbers shown behind them when they’re dancing: 137, 163, 191, 223, 241, 271 and 307. I thought they wouldn’t put this randomly so I searched what these number might mean and I found that they’re prime numbers (as you know, prime numbers can only be divided by themselves), and that prime numbers are very useful for creating keys to decrypt data by hackers. So I thought… what if Jeongin and Chan were trying to decrypt the system in order to mess with it but they need a key and Hyunjin was the key? And after DK happened, they managed to create glitches even more powerful than before? (like I explained in my theory).

anyways… moving on to Astronaut. ASTRONAUT = a person who is trained to travel in a spacecraft. But what if in SKZ concept an Astronaut is someone trained to travel their realities? And as we can see in I Am Not, Hyunjin is the one being trained in the VR apparatus.

also, he’s the one with an airplane behind him in Victory Song (and by now I think every little thing in these MVs are clues, sorry)

so what I take from this is that Hyunjin is like the tester of the realities they’ll have to face in order to escape District 9, like he is on a trial mode, if that makes any sense…

in the Astronaut MV, as we all noticed, we have some references from past MVs such as I Am You (the spinning thing); Victory Song (the red flares Chan & Jeongin are holding); Miroh (the boxes); Side Effects (the cart) and Chronosaurus (the plastics)

it’s interesting that Jeongin and Chan are the ones together when the music begins and I think this might mean sth because they’re always referenced as one, like in IAY; and Chan in AS is probably talking to MH’s Jeongin, because if they know what’s happening in the system, they might be able to keep in touch with each other even from different realities – but this is just me speculating too much!

in the MV we see 3 orbs: the 1st one is blueish with a green center; the 2nd is dark blueish/purple with a yellow center, and the last one is transparent with a black center.

so I googled those orb colors and found out that the first one may signify communication, neutrality, healing – might be applied to a master/guide; the second one may signify caution, insight, notice; while the last one may signify insecurity, being trapped or tortured. I don’t know if this makes sense, but I put it in here bc I strongly believe that these orbs represent Chan, Hyunjin and Jeongin, since they’re the ones that seem to be the focus of this storyline (and the color scheme of the scenes the orbs appear reminded me of IAY, 19 and SE)

going back to the AS MV, we also see Felix glitching like he did in MH and I was able to see in the background glasses being smashed, lightening, buildings, a road and a bridge, storm, moon, etc., and these are all elements that are present in their MVs, like showing what they already faced so far.

the cage scene made me think of District 9. When we first see it, Jeongin is the only one inside, but then we also see Han, Minho, Seungmin with him – and they’re slightly glitching, btw.

some other things happen to Hyunjin, he keeps on running, and now he’s outside on a dark road with a storm coming up – which reminded me of SE a lot, especially because of the two moons -, but he seems quite peaceful facing all those terrifying elements

he runs towards the end of the road that he can’t even see what’s waiting for him there – but maybe it’s because he already knows what happens next.

Hyunjin finds Chan in front of a door (maybe the exit?) and they all go through – to me it looks like Felix is the one about to close it, like he did with the gate in D9. Chan then shoots sth towards the sky like he did in VS (which caused a storm), but here it only makes a beam of light appear for them – as if they’re asking to go up? Like ‘beam me up Scotty’? you guys know this Star Trek reference, right? lol

and now we see the sky, but we don’t have two moons… I know it’s probably bc it’s morning, but in SE it was also morning and we saw two moons, so I’m assuming Hyunjin was able to find the finish line of the VR simulation (because I’m assuming that everything with the two moons is actually the VR)

at the end, we see Jeongin walking to the spinning thing like a glitch – like Chan also did when he went to the door, as if teleporting from here to there – and he’s alone, probably left behind. But why would SKZ leave him behind? Probably because they didn’t know he was there...

alright, so what does it all mean? I’m gonna try my best to comment everything and try to link the MVs with the lyrics to create a somewhat decent storyline.

on the released picture of the AS track list, this is what is written (it’s a rough translation, so I’m sorry if it’s wrong): “when we were happy together, we could do anything, where we chatted and laughed carelessly until dawn. Suddenly, I saw a bead… what is it? As soon as I got close, I heard a strange sound. At the end of the sound was a faint mixture of familiar voices calling my name. Without thinking, I started getting drawn by the sound”

To me, the first part means the I Am You setting. They were all happy after being free, they created their own world where they could do anything as long as they were together. In AS we see Hyunjin in this same environment and that’s also when the first orb appears. Hyunjin is attracted by the orb that could possibly be SKZ’s way to communicate with him inside the VR. Because remember, Hyunjin is there but what he’s seeing and experiencing is not real. He’s testing the ways out for SKZ. But he was so happy in that reality that he lost himself, he didn’t know what he was supposed to do anymore. And SKZ sent something to guide him out of this fake environment as we see in AS. He then started his journey back to where the real SKZ are, going through all the tokens from the realities he’s been through (like the boxes with the confusing mazes, but that are easily destroyed bc is not real; the cart from SE, the gate from D9, etc…). What also gives him hints is how the members start to act after he begins his running in AS. After he destroys the boxes, Felix is standing there like a heroic figure, glitching with Changbin, looking almost unapproachable or as if he can’t see him. we see Chan on the floor, so Chan is probably grounded like Hyunjin.

then he sees his friends trapped inside a cage. But the thing is that this cage is really ridiculous, any of them could climb or help the other to get out of there, so I think they’re trapped bc they’re not real, it’s all a simulation, – except for Jeongin, but I’ll get to this point later on, hold on!! – and this cage represents D9.

Hyunjin runs endlessly until he reaches the road I mentioned already, and he finds Chan, they all go through the door (how could they if four of them were trapped? unless nothing of that is real) and they are all dressed in white, like when they escaped D9, dancing happily on the rooftop.

to me, after Jeongin got off the bus he realized the system’s plan and told Chan (their leader), and they came up with ideas to escape, but they needed someone that could control the reality, and Hyunjin was being trained for it – although he was frustrated with it - so they asked him to go unlocking worlds (or roads, or whatever) and he did it, but as farther he went, he started getting lost in the system bc he didn’t know who he was anymore, was he a clone already? What he’s seeing is reality or virtual reality? What’s the truth, what’s the answer?

Chan and Jeongin were able to guide Hyunjin throughout the MVs to continue with their plan, but Hyunjin’s mind was starting to lose itself, although he had a feeling that something seemed off… And Astronaut is nothing more than a recap of all what they’ve been through and Hyunjin’s journey to the unknown in order to find SKZ again and help them escape.

so what about that last scene with Jeongin? Well, I think the Jeongin in white clothes with them at the end is not the real Jeongin, and the Jeongin we see sitting alone is in fact the real one that is trapped inside the VR. Chan was guiding Hyunjin but lost Jeongin in the meantime and didn’t realize it or Chan knows it and is also a clone anything is possible, because to me the Jeongin we see in their MVs isn’t the real Jeongin since D9, like I said in the beginning of this analysis. Maybe the reason Seungmin and Minho were found on DK by the drone is bc Jeongin was with them and he’s part of the system? The others weren’t seen except for these three. I also believe this hypothesis because the gate in AS represents D9 and Jeongin is the only one moving after Hyunjin leaves, probably showing that the real one was lost in D9, but since there can’t be two “Jeongins” in a same place, he needs to wait for them to realize that they’re dealing with a fake one and come back for him.

alright, to summarize this huge analysis...

EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED DIDN’T HAPPEN!! HYUNJIN WAS DECRYPTING AND TESTING THE REALITIES (IN THE VR THING) THEY HAVE TO FACE IN ORDER TO ESCAPE AND OVERTHROW THE SYSTEM AND NOW THAT HE’S FINISHED THE TRIALS HE’S BACK TO DISTRICT 9 AND CAN SHOW SKZ THE RIGHT PATHS TO FOLLOW BUT HE DIDN’T REALISE THAT THE REAL JEONGIN IS TRAPPED INSIDE THE VR AND HE LEFT HIM BEHIND AND NOW SKZ WILL HAVE TO GO BACK TO GET HIM OUT OMGGG I CANT ANYMORE

how else would we explain Hyunjin, Jeongin and Chan’s hairstyle looking almost the same as the one they had in D9?

some other thoughts I had: what if they’re duplicating themselves to leave the clones on the system so the real ones can escape?

ASTRONAUT also has 9 letters... this might mean something?

why is Chan singing all the time “I’m not me” in the background of Mirror? can he be trusted? I’m still not sure about Chan’s role in all of this bc he seems shady like Jeongin lol sorry Chan

from the Victory Song unveil track we have Chan saying this “we are Stray Kids, the owners of Clé. Roll the dice. Our beginning is District 9. We break the frame, escape from the system, and go beyond the fixed line towards STAY. We came to listen to Victory Song. So ring the 승전가”. Isn’t it weird that he says “break, escape, go” instead of “broke, escaped, went” ?? he only says “we came” bc the question is about their entrance in Miroh and Victory Song is after it, but if everything else also happens after D9, shouldn’t the other verbs be on the past tense too?

in Chronosaurus we see someone picking up three keys from the floor and I’m pretty sure it’s Jeongin.

one key for each – Chan, Hyunjin and him. But what can they do with the keys? I thought that maybe they could go spread themselves through the realities these keys unlock and place signs for them so they don’t get lost or forget about what they’re doing, like easter eggs? there are some black balloons on SE that reminded me of 19

in TMT there’s a billboard that Chan sees saying “do what you wanna do” (a message he left for himself there? and look at the background, it’s the space)

and what about Hyunjin? I’m not sure, but maybe the scene where we see him laying on the grass at the end of SE is actually because he just arrived in that reality and lost the key of that reality on that weird pond??? is the easter egg in SE himself??? I still think it’s weird the way Jeongin looks at him and smiles brightly in this scene lol

this is just what I was able to put together, but I still have a lot of questions and a lot of concerns, but unless Chan spills the tea I don’t care if it’s hot we’ll stay clueless about all of this lol

ngl I’m kinda sad bc a lot of y’all don’t like the song ;-; but I can’t do anything about it since it’s your opinion so

but I hope that people know the difference between hating and giving criticism saying the song sucks and that it’s trash music is straight up music

I can get why people are disappointed with the song since everyone wanted almost the same thing, “jennie getting a rap part”, “jisoo saying blackpink in your area” and a high note from rosé

especially wonyoung, we all know that she’s actually really smart and is good at academics, i also think she might do modeling work, she fits the criteria

i also kinda see yujin pursuing an acting career because she will be in the theatre and film department in sopa. unless starship is going to debut a new girl group, I hope that yujin can debut as a soloist instead

When I started the series, I forgot how smart stays actually are, so when I first started drafting, I left in a bunch of VERY obvious clues before 12 pm. checking out a bunch of releases from the past week or so:

stray kids - god menu DEFINITELY need to revisit this with headphones. this song has all my attention and the music video is fucking insane. does it top side effects? i don't know yet, give it a week. it's punchy and loud, everything i love about skz. maybe i'm biased but felix's parts were especially perfect and hyunjin looks insanely good.

n.flying - oh really. the music video is just beautiful lmao i love it it's so fun and the lyrics are so relatable.. i watched their m countdown comeback stage after this and it's almost a whole music video on its own. hweseung has such an amazing voice and seunghyub complements him well

jea - greedyy (feat. moonbyul) i do like this, it's very fun and the music video is cute. not the biggest mamamoo fan but i feel like moonbyul should've at least been in the mv.

weki meki - oopsy im gonna start off by saying they all look heavenly and wlw are winning with this mv. i have a crush on everyone all over again. i love that this is totally their sound though i do wish the mv was a bit crazier and more fun bc idk how much elegant really fits this sort of hyper pop song. but like, i love the song, so much.

iz*one - secret story of the swan this is intense wow there is SO much happening. i have zero complaints though. and that DANCE BREAK YES CHAEYEON GO CHAEYEON!!! styling is also incredible from head to toe. all of the colours were awesome.

twice - fanfare they just never stop, damn. this is just a crazy pop song from start to finish, how the hell am i supposed to sit still?? this is a love song on pure crack. i loved the bit where the paint splattered over the camera too.

EXO – The Power of Music (The group had a lot of fun with the video and I really liked their b-side “Boomerang” too.)

Stray Kids – I am WHO (This was a hard pick between this one and I am YOU which has the same name for the title track. Stray Kids – I like a good chunk of their repertoire so it’s difficult to narrow it down. “My Pace” and “I am You” are ones I hold close. “Mirroh”, “Road Not Taken”, “STOP”, “Blueprint”, “God’s Menu”, and “Slump” have been on replay for me as of lately.

Do you have a favourite moment of theirs?

BLACKPINK – They did a short reality show called BLACKPINK HOUSE and one of the early episodes showed Lisa and Rosé waking early to make breakfast for the older girls. Rosé found bread and made toast, only she burned the first two slices and tried to save it by scraping off the burned areas. She proceeded to try her handiwork and did this cute arm flapping thing to show how proud she was of her work.

BTS – They do a series called Run! BTS and two episodes were split over them doing games themed to old Korean variety shows that were on when they were very young kids. They had these really dated looking outfits on and at one point they had to play a game where they listen to a children’s song, take a nap for 20-30 minutes, then wake up and try to remember the full song lyrics without any guidance. Some of them got hung up on words and poor Suga, who was the referee, was trying to find ways to give them hints without spoiling the answers.

EXO – Their appearances on Ask Us Anything/Knowing Bros. There was one where they played a game themed to their concept superpowers and a few of them actually were terrible at their jobs. (Ex. Xiumin’s assigned power is ice so he had to fish beans out of a bucket of ice in the game – he struggled because it was very cold, so another member did his job. Sehun’s assigned power is wind and he struggled to keep a piece of paper floating in the air with his breath only, etc.)

ITZY – At KCON LA, they introduced themselves after performing their latest single “ICY” and did a cute showcase of their talents.

Stray Kids – When they were on Weekly Idol, they played a game where they had to appeal to I.N., their maknae, to rank them from 1-8 in terms of his favorite hyung. The other members did things like bribe him with new sneakers, making up raps on the spot, and the dancers tried dancing to impress I.N. plus threw in some extras. (Hyunjin gave I.N. a ring, Lee Know tried dancing sexy until Hyunjin shoved him off I.N. for being inappropriate, and Felix offered I.N. a piggyback ride.)

Favourite outfit?

I really like Rosé’s grey sweater/checkerboard skirt/black thigh high boots look from “As if it’s Your Last”. That skirt inspired me to make my own skirt.

I like some of RM’s pieces from VISVIM because the head designer does pay a lot of attention to the process and details in his clothing pieces and it shows.

Most of the stuff I like for EXO is Chanyeol’s personal style – he wears a lot of VETEMENTS but maybe his “Freal Luv” look from the Far East Movement MV?

There’s a stage outfit Lia has worn where it’s this black sleeveless dress with buttons down the front and it’s cute and classy. The buttons kind of remind me of marching band jackets a little.

I did love the styling for KCON LA – albeit I still laugh about my friends asking me who the hot guy in all black with the abs (Bang Chan) and the cute guy in the red/black striped jacket (Han) after the concert.

If you could only stan one group for the rest of your life, which group would it be?

Stray Kids and I think it has to do with the fact that I’ve seen them twice in concert and always have a lot of fun when they perform.

? I’m not sure who I want as my third pick. Felix is the other half of the Aussie line from Stray Kids, but it’s tempting to consider someone like Jungkook from BTS since he’s one of those “happens to be good at almost everything” people and that would come in handy for survival. While RM is my favorite in BTS, please protect Mr. Danger Prone – he’s clumsy and I’d be more concerned about the injuries he’d end up with.

He walked in just as you pressed the notification. The volume of your head phones went straight up and the even white noise blocked out the sound of bang chan coming in. The music started and you let out a slight squeak. Bang Chan felt proud in that moment. He knew he’d done well and he didn’t need you to tell him after that, even if you didn’t know he heard. He waited until the whole mv was over, 739 squeals and squeaks later, and came and sat on the bed next to you. “Did you like it?” He asked, shutting off your tablet while maintaining eye contact. Just as you went to answer he cut you off. “I know you did, baby, now show me how much you loved it.” BOY JUST WANTED A KISS AND A CUDDLE THAT CAME OUT SUGGESTIVELY EW.

Woojin:

You were on your way home late at night, your time zone meant it came out quite late for you but it was just as you finished work so you’d still be awake. You watched it while walking, as soon as it finished, you rang Woojin to congratulate him and tell him how good it was. That was the plan, however, words just wouldn’t come out over the phone. “Woojin, you just? And he? And you? Oh sorry I’m not making sense it’s because I don’t think I can.” He sat on the other end, a little bewildered but he thought it was SO. CUTE. He’d be smiling to himself the whole time. He’d never seen/heard you like this before, it was really something special. “I can’t wait to see you so we can watch it together and I can see your reaction.”

Lee Know:

“Y/N!!!!!” He ran to the room you were in with his phone in his hands. “I WAS TOLD YOU COULD WATCH THE MV BEFORE IT WENT LIVE SO HERE WATCH IT!” He put his phone right in front of your face and pressed play, you didn’t have a choice in whether you wanted to watch or if he was allowed to watch you. Your mouth fell open in the first second, it was already the best thing you’d ever seen in your life. As it continued, you subconsciously kept on hitting Minho out of excitement, he didn’t care though, you were being real adorable. “Now you finished beating me up, you enjoyed it right?” He asked excitedly “actually I don’t think I need to ask.” He flashed you on of those beautiful smiles he possesses before putting an arm around you, kissing the top of your head and saying “I’m glad you liked it.”

Changbin:

“Changbin looked SO GOOD” you shouted down the phone to your friend on reflection of the mv, unaware that Changbin was right outside your door. “I KNOW!!! I WISH HE COULD SEE US RIGHT NOW, ACTUALLY NO WE’RE A MESS” she screamed back, still yet to know that you and him were in a relationship. He knocked on the door and you quickly said goodbye to your friend. “I looked good huh?” He asked with a smirk, all you could do was nod in response. “Tell me more about how I made you feel” he teased, kissing your neck before sitting down on the bed. “As if you just watched MY mv without me, traitor” he moaned and you shrugged and whispered a sorry. “Oh well,” he replied, “at least I got to hear you scream about me.”

Hyunjin:

You gripped hold of Hyunjin’s arm during his part, he was sat beside you on the bed while you watched for the first time. “Oh my GOD Hyunjin you did that?! You rapped LIKE THAT?! WITH YOUR WHOLE ASS TONGUE?!” You screamed extra loud, forgetting you had ear phones in. He smiled proudly at you before pointing back down at the screen. When you weren’t looking, he was staring at you. The only thing he ever wants you to be of him is proud, and when you were, he was happy. Super fucking happy. He knew your incessant screaming and lack of sentence structure/ simple vocabulary was a good thing and he couldn’t be happier. He bragged to his members to next time he saw them “sure, they screamed all the way through, but it was different when I was on the screen, it was with love.”

Han:

“Y/n can you just-“ he walked into your room to see you crying. “Baby, what’s wrong?! What film was it that you watched!? Did someone send you a hurtful message? God I’ll beat their ass” he wrapped an arm around you. “Beat your own ass” you sniffled out. You unlocked the monitor (honey you cried that long that it locked itself???) to reveal the new mv. “Look at what you did!!” You screamed “that whole 4 minutes was the best 4 minutes of my life!” He soon sat in the chair next to you, breathing a sigh of relief with a fat smile on his face. “Why did you cry though?” He asked, trying to understand the life of a stay. “LISTEN PAL, I WAS ATTACKED” you tried to explain but you just couldn’t. He settled for that, laughing slightly at your weirdness. “You and the rest of stay are crazy”

Felix:

“Y/n did you watch it yet?” He asked excitedly. “YES FELIX, YES I DID” your volume was HIGH and was not going down any time soon. “And?” He asked, patiently waiting for your thoughts. “Felix you killed it GOD DAMN IT.” You shouted once again. “YOU ALWAYS DO BUT THIS TIME BRO THIS TIME” you were hyping him up no joke, he could get used to this he thought. “Bro?” He then questioned, you never called him bro, usually a more loving pet name. “YES BRO IM SORRY IT JUST SLIPPED OUT IN EXCITEMENT” he laughed loudly and excessively, he kinda liked it. Maybe they should drop a new mv everyday just to hear some new “pet names.”

Seungmin:

“Kim Seungmin what the hell was that?” You asked as he came into your room. You pointed at your computer screen, a freeze frame of him looking like a whole snack filled it. “Oh that? That’s nothing” he brushed it. You hit play, his angelic voice filled the room as he sang along. “STOP THAT PLEASE” you begged, on the verge of tears. “Or else what, baby?” He teased. He liked this, you being totally completely whipped for him. But he also liked that you enjoyed the mv. That was real important to him. However you expressed your proudness he didn’t care, just as long as he knew it. He came over and patted you on the head “just wait till the next one, honey”

I.N:

Something he’d never seen someone do before: cry over an mv. He rushed in “You liked it then?” He asked with a huge smile plastered across his face, stupid question. “Liked it? I loved it? Are you seriously thinking I’d ever dislike such a masterpiece? Anyone who does is uneducated” he just laughed in response. He didn’t really understand what was going on but you seemed to be having fun so he was happy. “Jeongin your dancing improved so much, look at you go baby!!!” You told him. His big smile somehow got bigger, you didn’t even think that was possible. “Aw thank you!” He hugged you. He was super happy to hear such a positive response to the mv, especially to his parts.

Song of the Week

So, I realized that the past few weeks, I totally forgot one of the channels that posts new MVs, so this week there may be some mentions of some older releases because of that.

Honorable Mentions:

Another Wanna One member has had his solo debut this week, with Park Jihoon’s L.O.V.E. I really like parts of it (namely the chorus), and the vocals are pretty good, especially for a guy was apparently on the dance line. The verse is a bit boring, and the whole thing is definitely a nothing new situation for me, but you might still enjoy it.

Every time I listen to VAV I really want to like them, but I can’t quite get there. That’s true again with Thrilla Killa. The vocals are on point and decently interesting, which is nice for an idol song. I just don’t find the actual song all that interesting . . . I will still give it a chance for a while and see if it grows on me at all.

Minho doing a ballad for his solo debut? Definitely unexpected. As the last member of Shinee to have a solo debut, I don’t know what I was expecting, but it was not I’m Home. I actually like the chorus quite a bit, and the not rapped verse (which falls flat). It is a nice way to say goodbye as Minho takes his overly competitive self to an incredibly competitive branch of the military for enlistment (because of course he did).

Why is JYP working with fetuses? And not even Korean ones, but Chinese ones. I’m confused by the why of Boy Story, but mildly impressed by Oh My Gosh. The youngest is 12 (12?!?!?!?!!) and they still manage to look like a cohesive idol group, complete with the dance skills I would expect. Also, the chorus has the best hook of the week so far. Though, hey JYP, not to tell you how to do your job or anything, but maybe you should tease a new thing more than 24 hours ahead of time?

I have many comments of the video of Stray Kids’ Miroh. Not so much on the song though (except Felix’s intro, that part was wonderful). It is heavily repetitive, and leans into the dance break chorus thing that I have never really been a fan of. I honestly preferred the actual children.

What can I say, I like a xylophone hit in a backing track, so I enjoy the simple cheerfulness of 1Team’s Vibe. It also pretty good rapping for an idol group which is nice.

Pentagon’s Sha La La is cautiously my favorite song they have put out so far. It is fun, nearly the summery vibe I want right now, and the intro and first verse are great. I got a little bored of the main theme by the end, but it is short enough to not bother me too much. Overall, solid song!

Of the music choruses of the week, KARD easily has the best one. They also do a great job of handling their Latin influence in an interesting way in Bomb Bomb. It is the dance track you would expect from KARD, and it is a great as all their other dance tracks. Also BM shirtless is always nice.

My weird indie song of the week that is oddly endearing is Jang Sukhoon with his song Jang Sukhoon. It is weird, and he is basically just introducing himself for the whole chorus.
