I Lost In Blue post shockingly little considering it is the reason I have had this same @ for around sixteen years.

A fic where reader likes Aaron but is like 20 years younger than him (I checked the math, even at the start of the show, he was 43 so that wouldn't have been weird. Unless u find that weird? Pretend i said 10 years if that weirds u out) and she thinks she doesn't have a chance with him and that he wouldn't even consider her. And so she just pines over him with the unrequited crush blues. Maybe hotch seems to "baby" her and be extra protective of her so she chalks it up to being the baby of the team. Meanwhile he does not view her as a baby. At all. And maybe he doesn't even realize he treats her any different. Angst welcome! Definitely romance
She/her pronouns for the fic if u want to do it please 🙏 and thank u 😁

Furious didn’t even begin to cover the way you felt currently. The entire cabin of the jet was thick with tension radiating from your barely concealed rage, and for a split second you felt guilty, because the team’s discomfort was more than palpable. But as your gaze wandered to the opposite end of the jet and you caught sight of the culprit of your vexation, brooding heavily in your direction, any sliver of remorse evaporated from your pores and your eyes instantly hardened in response.
Fucking Aaron Hotchner.
Hotch’s thick dark brows were pinched together, creating a crease of annoyance right between them, and his lips were pressed in a line that was harsher than usual, causing his frown lines to settle even deeper into the skin around his mouth. His deep umber eyes were void of any warmth, and there was no evidence of faint mirth creasing around them. Instead his lethal gaze was cold as steel, and as rigorous as stone.
You had seen a more intense version of that look several times before whenever he interviewed unsubs that made monsters look like fairytales, and normally it sent a chill down your spine. Not because you were scared of your boss; quite the opposite actually. Every time you watched him stare down the worst of humanity with an aura of disinterest and a hard glare that showed he was completely unimpressed, you found yourself more and more attracted to him. Especially on the rare occasions when he lost his temper and ended up slamming his hands on the table while yelling in their face. You found that incredibly hot.
From the day you met Hotch for your interview, you had found him attractive. Intimidating as hell, but attractive. The fact that he was your boss didn’t deter you from developing a little crush on him, or the fact that he was a widower with a six year old son. None of that stopped the butterflies that swarmed in your stomach every time he gave you a tiny bit of praise in the form of a “good job”, or a simple nod of approval. In fact, the more Hotch warmed up to you, the worse your little crush got.
You found yourself grinning whenever someone made him crack the tiniest of smiles, and nothing fueled your ego more than his quiet snort whenever you said something he seemed to find funny. Hotch surprisingly had a great sense of humor when the stress of being the unit chief of the B.A.U. wasn’t looming over his head. He could be stubborn and closed off sometimes, and he wasn’t always the best with words, but you could tell by his actions that he truly cared about his team. Unfortunately for you, his treatment revealed exactly how he saw you.
The baby of the team.
It was no secret that’s how the rest of the team saw you too. Derek had been teasingly, but affectionately, referring to you as “Baby Spice” since your first day because you were by far the youngest member of the team and beyond feisty. Spencer even joined in with the nicknames, jokingly calling you “kid” with a proud grin now that he was no longer the youngest, even though there was less than a five year gap between the two of you, which Rossi constantly reminded him of with a smack to the back of his head. At a certain point you realized that Rossi just enjoyed messing with Spencer, but you still grinned at him in appreciation every time he came to your defense.
Even though you were far from being a child, Hotch still treated you differently than the others, which did not go unnoticed by anyone. He was far more protective of you, not allowing you to go anywhere alone when the team was working a case, and he hardly ever wanted you in the interrogation room with unsubs. Only after Emily backed you up, insisting it was important to your training, did he finally allow you to interrogate. But it was under the strict condition that he was always the one in the room with you. He never allowed you to enter a crime scene or a suspected location of an unsub first, and the first time you got injured while on a case, resulting in the tiniest of a cut above your eyebrow, Hotch forced you to take a leave of absence for two weeks.
You made it three days before you burst into his office and demanded that he end your leave.
He didn’t.
Because of the way Hotch seemed to “baby” you, it resulted in the rest of the team doing it too. Emily and JJ weren’t as bad about it, but they definitely put themselves in front of you anytime a situation got dangerous. Derek and Hotch were by far the worst and the most obvious about being overprotective, but Spencer and Rossi weren’t far behind. The only one that ever treated you as an equal was Garcia, and that’s why she was your favorite.
And the only one you confided in about your little crush on your boss. Although, you were sure Emily and JJ had caught on by now. They always flashed you a teasing smirk and a little wink anytime they caught you silently pining.
But that was what seemed to solidify that you would never have a chance with Hotch. Not that he was your boss, or that he had traumatically lost his wife, or that he had a young son, or even the fact that he was a good twenty years older than you. It was that he seemed to view you more as a helpless child than a capable woman.
As soon as the jet landed, you were the first one off. You could hear Hotch’s shoes stomping along the floor of Headquarters right on your heels. While you stopped at your desk to drop off your go bag, fully prepared to get your shit and leave, his angry march continued up the stairs towards his office, but he never once took his irritated glare away from your figure.
“Y/L/N, my office. Now.”
Gritting your teeth hard, you turned your head to shoot daggers in his direction, but he had already disappeared into his office. Disregarding the sympathetic concern from your coworkers, you furiously made your way up the stairs and made a dramatic show of slamming the door to Hotch’s office forcefully behind yourself, which in turn made his eyes narrow into vehement slits as he looked at you. He straightened his back, squaring his shoulders while he stepped around his desk to stand a few feet away from you. He looked absolutely pissed, but you were too lost in your own rage to care.
“You were completely out of line-”
“Oh, bullshit! I was doing my job-”
“I gave you a direct order and you ignored it, putting yourself and the entire team at risk.”
Hotch’s voice rose in volume when you combated his critique, and even though you had spoken over him first, the fact that he was now doing it to you only fueled your anger further. You took a bold step forward and glared up at Hotch as you grit your rebuttal out through your teeth.
“I saved that kid’s life-”
“By being reckless! You could’ve gotten him killed. You could have gotten killed. Don’t you get that?”
“But I didn’t! No one got hurt, so what the fuck is the issue-”
“The issue is you.”
Hotch’s comment quickly halted the verbal punch you were about to throw, and as you glared up at him, you noticed that his nostrils were flaring with fury and that his darkened eyes were wild and blown open with pure unbridled rage. The sting of his words caused the wildfire flaring inside of you to shrink to the dull roar of a fireplace blaze. Crossing your arms over your chest in a sign of defiance, you lowered the volume of your voice and layered it with acidity.
“You’re a fucking hypocrite.”
Hotch narrowed his eyes, which seemed to be glowing with resentment, as he took another step towards you, faintly cocking his head to the side.
“Excuse me?”
He was giving you an opportunity to correct yourself. But one thing Hotch hadn’t seemed to learn about you was that you could be just as stubborn as he was, and once you reached a certain stage in your wrath, you didn’t back down. You went straight for the jugular.
“If it had been you, you wouldn’t have called it ‘reckless’. But because it’s me, you flip out and blow the whole fucking thing out of proportion because you treat me like I’m a goddamn child-”
“I wouldn’t treat you like a child if you didn’t fucking act like one.”
At this point, there was barely an inch of space between you and Hotch, and you had to tilt your head back slightly just to return his scowl. He might as well have thrown gasoline on the fire with that comment, and you were suddenly completely fed up with no one in this goddamn building viewing you as a grown fucking woman.
“If it had been Derek, or Emily, you wouldn’t be giving them shit like this. You would’ve given them a slap on the wrist, but still acknowledged that they got the job done. So why do I get treated differently-”
“Because you’re not as good as you think you are, and you’re certainly not as good as them.”
That simple statement hurt worse than if Hotch had physically struck you across the face with the back of his hand. All the fury within you suddenly fizzled out, and you stood there dumbstruck while Hotch let out an exasperated exhale through his nose and turned away from you to walk around the corner of his desk and plop down angrily in his chair. He opened the file currently sitting in front of him and directed his irritated attention solely to the pages, reaching for a pen from the holder to his right to wrap his fingers around. He didn’t even look up as he barked out his next order.
“You’re suspended for three weeks. When you return, we’ll discuss your behavior and your future here at the B.A.U.”
Everything felt like it had suddenly come crashing down around you, and you found yourself wondering if it was all worth it. The stress of the job, the never ending hours, the horrors you saw day in and day out, but especially the treatment you received from Hotch and the others. You started to wonder if you had tricked yourself into believing it wasn’t harmful and had all come from a good place, but now you weren’t so sure anymore. For the first time since joining the B.A.U., you found yourself wanting out.
Swallowing the pieces of the lump that threatened to form in your throat, you lifted your chin slightly and spoke in a quiet but firm voice.
“No.”
Hotch quickly lifted his gaze to glower up at you, the thickness of his brows making him appear angrier from where you stood above him. However the second he caught the look on your face, his eyes softened considerably and he sat up straight, the semi permanent frown on his lips vanishing into a subtle line. His eyes followed the movement of your hand while you pulled the gun from the holster at your hip and sat it down in front of him on the desk, along with your badge. There was a brief flash of panic in Hotch’s eyes when he looked at you again, and his lips parted slightly, but you didn’t give him a chance to speak.
“I quit.”
Turning around to solemnly leave his office, you ignored the gentle pleas of your name leaving his lips. As you descended the stairs, the team’s heads perked up in curiosity, their gazes darting between your melancholic movements while you gathered your things, and the sight of a frantic Hotch rushing down the stairs like a man on a mission.
“Agent Y/L/N, do not walk away from me when I’m talking to you.”
Realizing that he was getting nowhere by being authoritative, Hotch let out an exasperated deep exhale through his nose and lowered the volume of his voice, speaking in a far gentler tone.
“Y/N we have to talk about this, you can’t just leave.”
You didn’t bother looking at any of them as you began your walk towards the elevators. You could still hear Hotch following closely behind you, and all of a sudden Derek’s large figure appeared in front of you. He dipped his head slightly to capture your eyes, the confusion on his features melting into pure concern as he glanced over your shoulder at Hotch before looking back at you. He held his right hand out towards you as if he were extending an olive branch and tilted his head to the side slightly.
“Whoa, what’s goin’ on Baby Spice? C’mon, talk to me.”
Derek was speaking to you in that gentle manner that he used when he wanted to show a victim that he wasn’t a threat. There was no doubt he could see the sadness and defeat glistening in your eyes, but you didn’t have the energy to rip open the wound any further.
“I’m going home. Please move.”
That was all you could manage to weakly get out as you attempted to step around him. But Derek, being Derek, wasn’t having it. He reached out to gently place his hand on your shoulder.
“I’ll drive you.”
“I can drive myself.”
“Baby-”
“I’m not a child, Derek. I don’t need your help, can you back off?”
Derek’s warm gaze widened considerably, and his neat onyx brows rose up his forehead in complete shock. You had never exploded on him like that, or any of the others for that matter. But right now all you wanted to do was get the hell out of there.
“Let her go.”
Derek glanced over your shoulder to look at JJ in pure confusion, but she gave a slight shake of her head while holding his gaze with a firm look in her ocean blue eyes, giving him a nonverbal cue to sit this one out. After a moment of hesitation, Derek removed his hand from your shoulder and took a step to the left to unblock your path.
The entire team was silent while watching you disappear behind the elevator doors.
»»——— ———««
A subtle but firm series of knocks at your door roused you from your sleep. Squinting at the clock on your bedside table, the lime green numbers read ten twenty-three pm. You hadn’t even remembered falling asleep. As soon as you had walked through the door of your apartment hours ago, you kicked off your shoes and crawled in bed, your mind spiraling about what you had just done and what it meant for the future.
When the knocks grew more impatient, you threw your comforter off with an irritated huff and got out of bed, exiting your bedroom to make your way to the living room to figure out who the hell was knocking on your door this late. However when you swung the front door open, your unexpected visitor was the last person you expected it to be.
Aaron Hotchner.
The darkness under his eyes was more prominent than usual, and his neatly cropped hair looked messy, as if he had been stressfully running his fingers through it. The permanent scowl he normally wore was missing from his lips, and there was a faint flicker of concern highlighted in his eyes. The first two buttons of his white dress shirt were undone, and his merlot colored tie hung loosely around his neck.
He looked exhausted.
Instead of speaking, you arched one of your dark brows, silently asking for the reason for his impromptu visit. As he shifted awkwardly to his other foot and cleared his throat, you realized you had never seen him look so unsure of himself.
“May I come in?”
Part of you wanted to slam the door in his face, but a bigger part of you was curious to know why your former boss had shown up at your door unannounced at ten thirty at night. Letting out a deep exhale through your nose, you stepped aside to allow Hotch to pass by you. The second the door shut with a soft click and you turned around to face him, there was already a blanket of irritation tugging his features down. He didn’t even give you a chance to question his presence before speaking.
“You’re a pain in my ass.”
A dry laugh instantly escaped your lips, and a soft furrow settled between your brows while you crossed your arms over your chest.
“Wow, you’re really good at this whole apology thing, huh?”
“I’m not here to apologize. I’m here to be honest with you, and the honest truth is you’re a huge pain in my ass. You’re stubborn, emotionally reactive, not to mention combative-”
“Then why the hell did you hire me-”
“I’m not finished.”
Hotch was speaking in that firm authoritative voice he used whenever he wanted to make it crystal clear he wasn’t in the mood for bullshit or push back. Despite your burning desire to lash out again, you bit your tongue and settled for glaring at him instead.
“You are constantly acting like you have something to prove-”
“Because you make me feel like I have to, Aaron. You, and the rest of the team, make me feel like I have to prove my worth every fucking day. Do you have any idea how exhausting that is? Or how much that makes me doubt myself?”
“Do you ever stop talking long enough to listen to someone else speak?”
Tension hung in the small space of your living room like a heavy and dense fog. Hotch observed you silently for a moment as your frustrations lingered in the air while you refused to meet his eyes. There was an unreadable expression on his face, and he seemed to wait until he could tell your emotions had leveled out slightly before speaking again.
“I admired your compassion.”
Perplexity twisted up your features as you stared across your living room at Hotch.
“What?”
“You asked why I hired you. That’s why.”
He made it sound like it was the most simple statement in the world, but it only added another layer to the cryptic labyrinth you were trying to navigate.
“I don’t understand-”
“When I reviewed your case work with you in your interview, I was impressed by your attention to detail. But I was even more impressed that when I asked you questions about the victims you had worked with, you gave me personal details about them, not just black and white facts that were in their file. You remembered things about them. You humanized them instead of speaking about them like a statistic.”
All you could do was blink at him in surprise. That was the last thing you expected to come out of his mouth. Sensing that a calmness had settled over you, Hotch took a cautious step forward and continued.
“You know just as much about the victims of notorious serial killers as you do about the serial killers themselves. Every solution you have to a problem is led with people in mind, trying to minimize casualties. You speak about victims like people, not numbers or objects. You put everyone’s feelings, and safety, before your own, and that is both the best thing about you and the worst.”
The sincerity in Hotch’s voice caught you off guard, and for a moment you weren’t sure what to say. He spoke to you in the soft voice you had once overheard him speaking to Jack in on the phone, and that caused a fluttering feeling inside your stomach. But it also added to your confusion. If he thought so highly of you, then why did he treat you the way he did?
“Why are you so different with me?”
Hotch let out a deep exhale through his nose, dragging his palm down his face slowly before loosely gesturing to you with his hand.
“Because it’s my job to protect you.”
“No it isn’t.”
It was Hotch’s turn to stare at you in puzzlement, his thick brows knit together in the center of his forehead. Running a hand through your hair in slight irritation, you shook your head slowly.
“I knew exactly what I was signing up for when I applied for this job. I knew it was dangerous-”
“My job as the unit chief is to keep my team safe-”
“No, Aaron. It’s to lead us. We all knew the risks when we joined. There is only so much you can control, you of all people should know that. I know you try to look out for us, but you don’t treat the rest of the team like you treat me. And I get it, okay? I am the youngest on the team, but I’m not a child-”
“I don’t think you’re a child.”
Hotch looked even more perplexed by your words, his head tilted to the side slightly while looking over at you.
“Y/N, your age has nothing to do with the way I treat you-”
“Then what is it?”
That uncertainty was once again shining in his eyes. It looked like Hotch was struggling internally with which version of his truth he wanted to give you. The revelation about your age not being a factor in his treatment filled you with a sense of relief, but also left you with more questions than answers. After what felt like an eternity of silence, Hotch’s face softened considerably as he took a few steps closer towards you.
“I…I care about all of you, and I don’t want to see anything happen to any of you.”
The intensity of his eye contact caused a slight shiver to nip at your spine, and it seemed like there was a hidden meaning to his sentence; something deeper.
“You…care about me?”
The tiniest of smirks tugged at the edge of Hotch’s lips, and his eyes had lightened in color with pure amusement.
“You know, for one of my most brilliant profilers, you’re pretty bad at this. Should I be concerned?”
Warmth bloomed in your cheeks hearing the faint tease lingering at the edge of his question. Hotch had never been this laid back and playful with you before. It almost sounded like he was…flirting?
Your eyes widened slightly while staring up at him, an overly dramatic gasp leaving your lips.
“Was that…a joke? Did you just make a joke? Are you feeling alright? Should I call a doctor?”
Deciding to test the waters, you brought your hand up to place the back of it against his forehead before moving it downwards to place against his cheek, as if you were checking his temperature. All of a sudden, a huge tooth bearing grin stretched across his lips, and your breath caught in your throat.
He was smiling.
Aaron Hotchner was smiling.
He gently grasped your wrist in his large hand, his grin fading to a miniscule smirk while his gaze became a little more intense.
“Actually, smartass, I’m having a bit of a rough night. One of my best profilers quit on me earlier. Although in her defense, I was kind of being a dick.”
“Kind of?”
“Don’t push it. I’m already doing something I normally don’t.”
“Which is?”
“Begging for forgiveness.”
Hotch hadn’t let go of your wrist, and either your mind was playing tricks on you, or he had somehow gotten closer. There was barely a centimeter separating your chests. Him telling you not to push it only made you want to do it that much more, and since you had already technically quit, you decided to throw caution to the wind.
“I don’t hear any begging.”
The mirth in Hotch’s eyes darkened into something you hadn’t seen before, and for a moment you were nervous that you had crossed a line. It felt like he was staring directly into your soul, searching for some answer that would determine his next move.
“You are by far the most frustrating woman I have ever met.”
Woman.
Hotch thought of you as a woman, and that caused a bright grin to stretch across your lips.
“Well, you’re no ray of sunshine either, but I still like you.”
Hotch’s grasp on your wrist tightened slightly at the end of your sentence, and a look of surprise flashed across his face before his eyes returned to that darkened look you couldn’t decipher.
“Is that so?”
His voice was low, but firm, and the sultriness of it nestled comfortably between your inner thighs. All you could do was subtly nod while staring up at him, watching as he leaned in meticulously and painfully slow.
“If I’m reading this wrong-”
“If you’re reading this wrong, you’re a terrible profiler.”
You weren’t one to wait for action, so before he could respond, you reached up to grab onto the back of Hotch’s neck and pulled him down to press your lips against his in a tentative kiss. At first he tensed up, but then you felt his body physically relax, and a soft hum sounded in your throat when he snaked his arm around your waist. Reluctantly pulling away, he gently brushed his nose against yours and whispered.
“So, I’ll see you in the office Monday?”
“Mm, no.”
Hotch pulled back so he could stare down at you in pure perplexity, and you grinned at his facial expression.
“No?”
“I’m suspended, remember? Three weeks, I think it was?”
Hotch’s lips formed into a thin line as he stared down at you, the amusement previously lingering in his eyes completely gone. You couldn’t help but laugh, lightly shoving him away from you with your palms against his chest.
“Hey, you decided my sentence.”
“You were being a brat-”
“And now this brat has a three week vacation. I’ve been meaning to take a trip anyway-”
“Actually, I haven’t filed any paperwork, so you’re not officially suspended, and you’re still a current employee. I’ll see you on Monday, Agent Y/L/N.”
The demanding tone of his voice made you bite down on your bottom lip, and you leaned back against your kitchen island while arching one of your brows in challenge and crossing your arms across your chest with a playful smirk on your lips.
“You don’t wanna see me before that, sir?”
The way you used his title clearly had an affect on him, and you suddenly realized that the emotion eclipsing his eyes was pure lust. He slowly reached his hand up to tug at the loose knot on his tie until it came undone around his neck completely, and he slowly approached you with a wolfish grin.
“Why do you think I’m here?”

pushing all the right buttons
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
a/n: ever since i started writing more & posting, i’ve had sooo much madison muse. so here’s a lil treat of dom!mads. this is also kind of in honor of the encore tour ending, she absolutely killed it this time around & i’m so grateful i got to see her.
pairing: dominant!madison beer x reader
warnings: kinda angsty at first but then smut smut smut, fluff at the end tho!!!! degradation, choking, oral & fingering (r!receiving), cursing, edging, hair-pulling, overstimulation.
summary: after not seeing madison for a bit, you decide to try and get a rise out of her.
•*¨*•.¸¸♪
madison had finished touring about a month ago. you had been at her final show and flew straight back home with her. ever since she’s gotten back though, your affection with her has been limited to kisses & cuddles. you wanted more after months of missing her.
at first, you chalked it up to her mainly being exhausted, which was fair enough, she got up on stage every night to perform her pieces of art. you couldn’t blame her for it. but as time went on, you started to wonder if maybe she lost attraction to you. you had to find a way to get that spark back.
you two were invited to a house party, it was hosted by one of your mutual friends as a celebration for everyone being in one place again.
you wanted to look good. not just good but amazing. you wanted her to notice you, to perceive you the way she used to.
you put on a backless cocktail dress that tied up behind your neck. you wore your down but styled it so it would be curled, your make up highlighted all your best features.
as you got ready in seperate rooms for the sake of having more bathroom space, you hadn’t seen what madison was wearing. your breath caught in your throat the second you saw her. she was in a blue sparkly dress, it was showing off everything you found beautiful about her body. you always thought she was captivating, her beauty unmatched. she had gold hoops on and her hair was tied up with a hair stick in it that you bought her when you visited her in japan.
“hey, baby.” she said, smiling at you. “you look great!”
great? that’s all?
“thanks.” you huffed, “you look amazing. i love the hair stick i got you!” you said, trying to lift your mood.
“i realised i haven’t used it properly.” she said, looking at it in the mirror. “thought it was about time.”
“yeah…” you muttered, grabbing your bag. “we should go. we’re already late.” you said, unclasping your purse to put your phone in there.
“alright, wait for me in the car.” she said, nodding and rushing to put the finishing touches on her make up.
“okay…” you simply said, walking down to the car and sitting in the passenger seat to wait for her.
•*¨*•.¸¸♪
the car ride was mostly quiet, the radio filling the gaps of silence. you realised she needed to focus on the road so you just used your phone for the drive.
when you both arrived, the party already had a handful of people in attendance. you two walked in and madison was immediately whisked away by her friends that have been waiting to see her when she got back, leaving you to fend for yourself a little bit.
you walked over to the drink table, pouring yourself something into a red solo cup. you feel a hand touch your shoulder.
it’s a girl you hadn’t met properly before but you know she had worked with madison on one of her music videos.
“heyy girl! oh my god, that dress is so pretty! i NEED to know where you got it!” she said, grabbing herself a drink too.
“awh, thank you!” you said. “um… i actually thrifted it. i made altercations to it myself.”
“what?! that’s insane. it looks like it hasn’t been touched at all!” she said, looking at the dress a bit closer. “you’re too talented!”
across the room, you felt eyes burn into the back of your head. you felt yourself to turn to where madison was talking to one of her friends, you two made eye contact. she didn’t look too happy. that wasn’t the reaction you wanted initially, but if it meant she paid some attention to you, maybe you would have to work with what you had.
“you’re too sweet.” you said, turning back to her. “but yeah! i alter a lot of my clothes, it’s just something i learned how to do.”
“that’s crazy. i think i’d just ruin my clothes if i tried.” she laughed, covering her mouth as she did. you laughed with her, it was geniune but you had to sell it. you leaned forward, touching her shoulder. she put a hand on your waist as you two made contact, laughing together still.
you found yourself chatting to this girl— who you found out was named gracie, actually having a decent conversation. you two talked about your jobs, your hobbies, and even a bit about your childhoods before you exchanged instagram handles.
while yes, you were partially using her to make madison jealous, you were excited to make a new friend on your own, at a party where you only knew a handful of people.
the whole time, you felt madison’s eyes on you. she kept glancing at you, a fire in those angry eyes.
•*¨*•.¸¸♪
madison felt herself scowl at the two of you. one of her friends, nick, started laughing at her.
“dude, you’re going to wrinkle if you keep doing that.” he chuckled, following her eyeline until he saw what she was looking at.
madison didn’t mean to be distant from you, she didn’t know why she wasn’t giving you the affection you wanted. she kept finding herself having to fulfill obligations from her work. she failed to realise you were needing her just as much.
she was seething seeing another girl give you the attention that she should have been giving to you.
she caught you excusing yourself for a moment and decided to make her move then.
“be right back.” she said, shoving her drink into nick’s chest and practicing stomping towards you.
•*¨*•.¸¸♪
you excused yourself from gracie to go find the bathroom. you struggled for a moment to find it before taking a chance and pushing one of the doors open to reveal it. you stepped inside and just as you were about to close the door, madison practically shoved the door open.
“mads— what—“ you were cut off by her hand wrapping around your throat, shoving you against the tile on the wall.
“my sweet girl, you thought you could just flirt with some other bitch and get away with it?” she asked, her sultry voice bouncing off the walls. “were you trying to upset me?”
you clawed at her hand, trying to push it away as tears welled at your eyes. as much as you were struggling to breathe, a part of you was excited to finally get what you wanted. you shook your head in a lie, whimpering softly as her hand pressed harder.
“well you sure as hell did.” she said, pressing kisses to your cheek. “are you a little slut for me? is that what you are? were you just being needy?”
you nodded, trying to gasp for air. as you tried to breathe through it, you felt a wetness pool at your core. you loved when she was gentle with you— but you loved this side of her just as much.
“well, you must be happy cause i’ll give you what you want, baby.” she said, her hand releasing your throat. you quickly inhaled the fresh air coming through the open bathroom window. you coughed a little, the air hitting your dry throat.
she pushed herself against you, straightening your back and her hands immediately found themselves lifting your dress. she turned you around and bent you over the sink.
“needy fucking whore.” she muttered, squatting down to pull your panties to your ankles. “fuck… you’re so wet. you love when i just throw you around, don’t you?”
“mmph… love when you throw me around.” you mumbled, holding onto the edge of the bathroom sink for dear life.
madison’s hand came down to smack your wet cunt then immediately after, started circling your clit with the pad of her thumb. you gripped the sink harder, crying out at the pain from the smack. “fuck!” you wailed out, your body jolting at the sudden contact.
“be quiet, bitch.” she said, sharpness on her tongue. “i wanna fuck you into oblivion, we can’t do that if someone catches us.” she said, smacking your pussy again. “you were being a bad girl…” she said, “this is what you deserve.”
you covered your mouth to prevent yourself from crying out again. you felt her mouth make contact with your wetness, her tongue fucking into your hole while her fingers worked your clit. your head fell down, your cheek against the counter. you were holding back moans but your efforts weren’t enough. you were crying out softly every time her tongue pushed into you, tears starting to fall out of your eyes.
this, paired with your touch-starved delirium, made you build towards an orgasm quickly— it didn’t even take madison a few minutes to get you close to the edge. when madison started to feel you shake, she immediately pulled away.
you sighed softly, realizing that you had been holding your breath in. your body relaxed but suddenly tensed up as madison’s fist bunched your hair up into a ball and she yanked you up, your back to her chest.
“look at yourself.” she ordered, forcing you to look at your red tear-stained cheeks. “so fucking good for me. am i really making you feel that good?” she asked, a smirk forming on her face as she laughed at you— it was embarrassing, she was taunting you. “you did this to yourself by thinking it was okay to let someone else touch you.”
“i’m sorry, mads.” you said, desperately wanting her to finish the job.
“sorry won’t do anything, baby. just let me do what i want to you then we can talk about forgiveness.” she said, her hair coming out of your hair and onto your breasts. she tore your dress open like it was nothing, you gasped at the gesture.
“if you’re so good at altering your clothes, you can put it back together.” she said, your breasts bouncing out of the dress. she moaned seeing them come out, your nipples hardening in the breeze.
her hand found its way around your throat again, applying less pressure than earlier but still enough to restrict your airways a little bit.
“watch me fuck you.” she said, holding your neck in place so you were watching. “watch yourself cum.”
she quickly found your clit again, your legs opening just a little bit more for her. she roughly rubbed at it with her middle finger as she placed her chin on your shoulder. she was watching you too. your hand found itself gripping onto her dress while the other was on the bathroom counter, stabilising yourself. you wanted to make noise but couldn’t get anything out because of her hand wrapped around your airway.
“i can feel you trying to moan, that’s so fucking hot.” she whispered, hot breath against your neck. “so fucking hot, baby.” she said, her finger suddenly entering you. you closed your eyes, the feeling was euphoric.
“hey!” she snapped. “eyes open.” she said, pulling her finger out to smack your ass. you whimpered at the loss of the build-up again, forcing your eyes open as she put her finger back into you.
“that’s it, love. you’re being good now.” she said, affirming you. you found yourself smiling at the sight of the two of you— you’ve been waiting for this for over a month and it’s just as good as you were expecting.
you felt that knot in your stomach start to form again, your grip on madison’s dress getting harder. she pumped her finger in and out of you quickly, her thumb supporting the motion by pressing against your clit. her grip on your throat loosened and you immediately let out a loud moan.
“mads.. mads, i’m gonna cum.” you managed to get out. your legs starting to grow weaker and your eyes starting to roll back into your head. you were seeing stars at this point.
“cum for me like the good whore you are.” she said, inserting another finger into you. “maybe i’ll forgive you then.”
it didn’t take much convincing for you to cum all over her fingers, crying out her name as your hand flew to her hair gripping as the tension in your belly snapped. your legs were shaking as she took her fingers out of you. you couldn’t hold yourself up anymore and fell down onto the floor, your back against the cold marbile bathtub.
“my pretty, pretty girl.” she cooed. your legs were still open so she brought her thumb to your clit again, earning a few jolts from you as you rode out your orgasm.
“you think i’m pretty?” you asked, a small soft smile forming on your face.
“i think you’re the most angelic creature to ever walk this earth.” she said, collecting your juices in her fingers, licking them clean as she pulled away.
“you haven’t made me feel pretty recently…” you pouted, your head reeling from the mind-blowing orgasm you just had. you’re pretty sure you lost control over your words.
“oh my baby… my sweet baby… if i ever do that again, you kill me on the spot.” she said, regretfully. “i’m sorry… let me make it up to you?”
you nodded with a toothy smile, your arms pulling her in for a hug. you were happy to have your girl back.
you two sat for a moment before you found your footing, standing up with madison’s help. you noticed your dress was ripped open still but neither of you had anything to cover you up.
“mads… you tore my dress.” you complained.
“oh! yeah… you may have forgiven me but i haven’t forgiven you.” she giggled. “second part of your punishment! walk back out to our car like that.” she said, turning you around to face the door.
“WHAT?!” you exclaimed.
“everyone’s drunk, they won’t notice a thing. they’ll probably forget about it too!” she defended her decision— which was totally not made just cause she got carried away by accident.
“mads… you can’t be serious.” you whined.
“oh i’m dead serious.” she nodded and slapped your ass.
“now walk, bitch.”

pairing: bestfriend!peter parker x fem!reader
sypnosis: after peter misses his chance to ask you out to the homecoming dance, he has to suffer the consequences of his own actions
wc: 1200+
a/n: hiii!! i have the urge to write again bc im bored and i dont wanna do my summer course work. this prompt is based on this post and loosely based on that one scene in the movie ladybird when she gets picked up by her date. i wrote this super quickly so not the best but i hope u enjoy :)
Tumblr media
peter had it first. he had the idea, the flowers, the poster, your favorite chocolate strawberries all ready for you. until brad davis came in and stole everything.
now he has nothing. he’s on your bed munching on the melty strawberries as he watches you get ready for the dance; you’ve asked for his help in choosing which dress you should go for.
“okay how ‘bout this one, pete?” the boy glances up at you, mid-chew with his mouth open.
his eyes snake over the outfit you’ve chosen. you do a swift twirl to show off the pretty soft blue satin dress that falls down to your mid-thigh with an open back. the skirt of your dress rides a bit high revealing a little too much. peter gulps, running his hands down his legs, immediately your sweet honey perfume floods his senses, his brain feels a little fuzzy, and he thinks the room gets smaller while his pants get a tiny bit tighter.
however, your eyes are what he takes in the most. you look eager, nervous about his approval, and hopeful for his admission.
his eyes widen as he gives you a soft nod and a pursed smile, “super pretty.”
you stare back at peter, his hair is flared, and you see chocolate smeared on his bottom lip. his posture looks defeated and you can’t help but wonder what’s wrong with him.
you give him a sour yet confused face, “why is your face like that?”
peter’s eyebrows furrow at your expression, “my face- why is my face like what?”
“like…” you take a moment to think, “like- you look like that chef in that one movie with the rat, he’s got that same awkward funny looking face.”
peter barks out a laugh in disbelief, “alfredo linguini?? from ratatouille?!” “yea! that guy.”
the boy in front of you offers you a pout and rubs his eyes, “thanks.”
“sure thing.” peter glazes over your seamless makeup when you take a seat next to him, “so, you’re really not coming? why not? it’ll be fun, plus all of our friends are going” you whine.
peter kicks himself every day since you got asked out to homecoming by brad. he knows he should have made his proposal to you sooner, but now that he missed his chance, he feels like he’s lost you.
“oh, so brad’s our friend now? and nah, it’s alright. i’m just gonna go patrolling tonight, might get some good action.” his eyebrows suggestively
you muster up a smirk and breathe out a laugh, “right. maybe you’ll find your own ‘cupid of crime’ that’ll show you a good time.”
peter groans at you, “oh my god, margot robbie is so-”
honk!
“oh,” your ears perk up at the sudden interruption, “i guess that’s my date.” you quickly stand up and straighten your dress, taking nervous breaths.
“i’m good right? my dress? face? hair?” your fingers run through your shiny locks, “its- i’m, i’m okay?”
peter has an indiscernible look plastered on his face as he gazes out the window and back at you. he’s shocked you’d settle for this, and even more appalled at you’re excitement to go with a douchebag who can’t even meet you at the front door. he knows you deserve better than this, and he knows he would treat you so much better with much less than your date. his stomach turns upside down and he feels his face get hot, breathing through his nostrils as he struggles to control his disbelief. he slowly stands up and meets your anxious expression peering up at him.
“you aren’t gonna get in a car with a guy who honks, are you?”
it’s almost as if the entire atmosphere shifts. peter studies your appearance. your face shimmered sanguinely regardless, brighter than the glitter that sparkled atop your eyelids.
it was safe to say you were excited to go to the dance, even if your date wasn’t your first choice. you had been waiting endlessly for peter to ask you to homecoming. you were almost depressed at the thought thinking your crush didn’t like you back, but even more upset at the fact that your best friend didn’t even want to take you as his date, romantically or not.
you remembered the feeling of delight swirling through your body as betty gushed about ned asking her to the dance, and mj agreeing to harry’s proposal.
you only wanted the same for yourself. the same thrill and warm feeling of someone wanting to take you as their date. you wanted more than anything for it to be peter, but you figured he simply didn’t think of you like that as empty time and hopeless anticipation went by. so yes, you did settle for brad davis. he’s only ever been sweet to you, with harmless flirting and sultry smiles in the halls. plus you had a hunch about peter’s displeasing stance on the man, and presumed this may have tipped peter over just the right amount.
you simply blink at his desperate eyes and nod, your adamant expression not wavering, “i think, yes, i am.”
you offer him a wistful smile when you brush past him, grabbing your purse on the way.
“y/n, stop.” peter’s finger’s wrap around your small wrist, your charm bracelet dangling against his hand.
“are you serious? what, the shithead can’t walk a few feet and knock on the door like a real man?”
“peter!” you snatch your wrist back and his hands rise.
you feel heat rushing up your neck and settling behind your ears. you had wanted a reaction out of peter when brad asked you out, yes, but the entitlement he has to mention about the manhood of brad angered you.
“i’m just saying,” he steps back from you, licking his dry lips while he chuckles back at you. “a guy who doesn’t have the balls to greet you at your doorstep isn’t worth falling for.”
you scoff at him, he was so sweet and now he’s only taking his anger out on you. “well it’s a good thing that he’s just a friend then. what’s it to you anyways?”
peter disregards your last statement, “a friend?! y/n/n, listen to me. you’re being naive if you think he just wants to be your friend.”
another honk outside pierces your ears, yet you can’t seem to shake your stare on the boy before you. you narrow your eyes at him.
“you sound jealous.”
peter sputters nonsense out and breaks his eyesight away from you, nervously running his hands through his curls.
“jealous? me? pfft. never. i’m not jealous, i’m- i’m being absolutely reasonable.”
you keep your eyes on him as he looks down at the carpet floor. he sighs and drops down at your chair, scratching the wood on your desk. his head shakes and ever so softly murmurs, “seriously, why are you going out with him?”
peter continues to stare at the rotten wood he’s chipping, “brad asked me to be his date, so i’m going whether you like it or not. unless,” peter glances back up at you.
“there’s something you’re not telling me.”
hope bubbles down in your stomach, and you anticipate his confession, waiting to hear the words of his true feelings that you know for certain are deep down inside him.
except, he doesn’t.
the boy only blankly stares at your desk, clenching his jaw, and drowns everything inside, letting you down yet another time. you turn away, disappointed in peter, ready to leave him alone for all the false hope and hurt he has caused you.
“right, well, when your balls finally drop, let me know. i’ll be at the dance with my date.”

breaking the internet
Tumblr media
chapter six a series of misunderstanding and lack of communication finally leads Hiori and Miss Journalist to talk, once and for all. blue lock longfic series pairing hiori yo x reader contains slow slow slow burn, post blue lock timeskip, afab!reader, hurt/comfort, implied !NagiReo, suggestive nsfw masterlist
Tumblr media
For weeks, there’s been nothing but radio silence.
You lost count of how many times you’ve typed a reply to Hiori, only to delete it afterward. Again and again.
Each time, the words feel wrong. Too stiff, too needy, too defensive. No matter how you framed it, everything sounded wrong. What could you even say that wouldn’t make everything worse?
Plus, he didn’t follow up either.
Every day, you’d sneak a peek into your Winstagram chats, only to see the same conversation where you left off. He’d view your stories, sure. A proof that he’s still there, just… watching. But other than that, nothing.
On weekends, you’d log onto Steam, hoping to catch him there while you convince yourself to unwind. Every time you do, a few minutes after you log in, his name would pop up on your notifications.
hiyooooooo is now online
Your cursor hovered over his profile picture more times than you cared to admit. But fear—no, humiliation—held you back. You’d tell yourself it was fear of rejection, of misstepping. But deep down, you knew it wasn’t just that. Maybe it was guilt too.
So you’ll sit straighter in your chair, hands gripping tight on your mouse, waiting. Waiting for a game invite, a little message, anything.
But nothing ever came.
Gaming was supposed to be your escape, something you both shared but it seems like it can’t break the cold shoulder treatment you’re getting from him.
Maybe I just need to see him. Or talk to him in person, you thought, clinging to the idea as though it might fix everything. Maybe it will. But still, easier said than done.
Desperation leads you to ask your editor for a beat change. Anything but Manshine City. The name alone made your stomach churn. You just need some distance from it until you clear the air between you and Hiori. Especially since you two haven’t spoken since the Nagi incident.
But Mercury in retrograde or whatever cruel force dictated your life these days, have other plans. Because your editor doesn’t budge. And to make matters worse, she hands you your next assignment.
“You’re covering another Manshine City game,” she said, her tone apologetic as it can be.
You want to protest. But before you can even spit out your rehearsed excuses, she cuts you off.
“They saw the numbers your Bastard München pieces pulled in,” she explained apologetically. “It’s PR gold for them.”
Her words hit you like a sucker punch. All the carefully prepared justifications in your head evaporated, leaving you standing there, mute and cornered.
Turns out, your editor and the Manshine City marketing manager are college buddies. She admits that the marketing manager cashed in a favor to get you to cover the team after seeing how you somehow brought good impressions to Bastard München.
As much as you want to get mad at your editor, you can’t. This was the woman who took a chance on you. The same woman who took you under her wing, believed in you when no one else would. How could you even say no to her?
You shake your head. It wasn’t your editor’s fault, really. That’s just how this business works.
And isn’t it good? People are asking for you, specifically. Isn’t that what you wanted?
Then why doesn’t it feel good?
You should be feeling good about it, right? Swelling with pride, even.  Finally, people were putting a name to your work, treating you as more than a faceless, invisible byline. More than just an unfamiliar face in the video content.
Yet somehow, this void inside of you swallows every shred of accomplishment. And it leaves you unsatisfied and wondering if you truly deserve it.
And maybe—just maybe—it’s because you can’t untangle work from everything else. Because the lines are blurring, and you’ve let Hiori seep into every corner of your life. You’re not even sure you mind.
It’s ironic, isn’t it? He’s the one who made you believe in yourself, who made you feel like you could be more than just a name at the bottom of an article no one reads. He gave you the confidence to think you belonged here. And now, the thought of him lingers like a shadow, casting doubt over everything you do.
It’s not his fault. You know that. But it feels like the push and pull between your career and the “thing” you have with him is tearing you in two. That undefined, messy connection was supposed to be your escape—a rare piece of joy in the relentless grind of your career.
Instead, it feels like you’re being forced to choose.
Career or connection. Ambition or affection.
The tension in your chest is sharp and unrelenting.
No, you didn’t have time to dwell on that. At this point in your career, beggars couldn’t be choosers. Your personal life? Your preferences? None of that mattered.
You just had to suck it up. And do your job.
Tumblr media
The stadium continues to buzz with energy as Manshine City wraps up their match with another clutch win. You just finished interviewing Nagi and Chigiri, notebook clutched in your hand.
Exhaustion pulls at you, but you linger a bit longer, tempted by the upcoming match between Bastard München and Italy Ubers. You have to get going if you want to get started with writing at home and sleep early.
Before you can give in to that temptation and the idea of seeing Hiori even from afar, Reo and the Manshine City marketing manager pull you into a conversation about potential content collaborations.
Despite their excitement showing, you’re pretty much drained. Instead, you offer your goodbyes, attempting to avoid getting roped in further to their impromptu planning.
“Stay, Miss Journalist, stay!” Reo calls out dramatically before he drapes himself over Nagi like a cat. With an apologetic smile and a small wave, you quicken your steps to get further away.
As you turn, you freeze when you nearly collide with someone. Hands catch you by the shoulders, steadying you before quickly letting go.
“Hiori…” you breathe as you lock gazes with him.
For a moment, you swear he looked… hurt. But it vanishes as quickly as it appeared, replaced by his usual calm mask. He takes a step back, scratching the back of his neck, his gaze darting away from you.
You’re just about to speak but Chigiri’s voice slices through the tension.
“Hiori, hey!” Chigiri bounds over, oblivious to the atmosphere. His bright energy collides with the moment like a sledgehammer.
Hiori forces a strained, lopsided smile. “Hey.”
“You’ve met Miss Journalist, right?” Chigiri gestures at you with a grin. “Sorry for stealing your fan.”
Hiori eyes the Manshine City jersey draped on your shoulders. A casual gift from the team manager, thanking you for the support and hard work.
His jaw tightens ever so slightly, his hands curling into loose fists at his sides. You feel your stomach twist uncomfortably.
“Oh yeah? I’m hurt.” A laugh escapes him but his sarcasm is unmistakeable.
“I-uh, I’m a Bastard München fan at heart, y’know that.” you stammer, gripping your notebook so tight.
“Well, we don’t mind changing that, do we, Nagi?” Reo teases, his smirk sharp.
Nagi, ever the enigma, tilts his head lazily. “Hmm, changing someone’s mind is a hassle. But Miss Journalist seems worth it.”
That statement doesn’t help.
What the hell is going on in that guy’s head? Are they really riling up Hiori?
“Wanna make a bet?” Reo’s voice is light, but the edge in his tone is clear.
“I don’t think she needs a bet to know who she likes better,” Hiori cuts in, his voice sharper than usual.
Usually, Hiori won’t be provoked by such trivial things. He gets enough shit like that within his team already. And it doesn’t faze him.
But this—this is different.
Because somehow, you’re involved and in the middle of it. And because it’s you.
He hates the way Reo’s arm brushes against your shoulder as he tries to invade your space. He hates the way Nagi’s detached comment earns a small laugh from Chigiri as if they’re onto something.
And most of all, he hates the image of you in that damn jersey. Or any other team’s jersey.
Not to mention, he never saw Nagi take an interest in you before. Nor Reo. Not that you’re not attractive. Because you are. But this possessive feeling, is it even right?
It’s irrational. He knows that. He has no right to feel this way. But the jealousy festers anyway, fueled by weeks of silence between you.
“Scared she might like us like us more?” Reo continues to taunt him, his grin widening as he zeroes in on the crack in Hiori’s composure.
Hiori’s fists clench tighter. “Yer delusional,” he snaps, the words biting.
Men. Are. So. Full. Of. Themselves.
You’re not a prize. You’re not some trophy for their ego-driven competition.
Or whatever pissing content is happening between the guys.
Without a word, you turn on your heel and walk away, your steps firm and purposeful. But before you round the corner, you throw a seething glare in Hiori’s direction.
He sees it.
And it hits him harder than anything Reo could have thrown.
Tumblr media
Hiori stares at the untouched plate of food in front of him, the hum of conversation around the dinner table fading into a dull, distant noise. His teammates' laughter and energy fill the space in the way only Bastard München could.
But he can’t focus.
The moment from earlier—Reo’s teasing smirk, Nagi’s casual remarks, and the way you looked at him with such anger—loops in his mind like a highlight reel he couldn’t escape.
He doesn’t know what to do with the emotions simmering under the surface. The possessiveness, the jealousy.
It doesn’t make sense, not when the two of you aren’t even together. Both of you haven’t talked about feelings, about whether you even felt the same way.
So why did it feel like something sharp had lodged in his chest every time he thought about you with someone else?
His fingers drum lightly against his thigh as he fights the urge to check his phone again. He’s already done it too many times, looking at your messages, and wondering if he should text you. The silence between you has stretched so long that Hiori isn’t sure how to bridge it.
Am I being pushy? He thought, the question hanging heavy in his mind.
Is it selfish to want more when we haven’t defined what this is? Am I not being a creep?
And yet, he couldn’t stop himself from wanting.
To understand the little things that make you smile. To know you outside the boundaries of work. To know you in a deep, personal, and intimate setting.
To be the reason for all those moments.
The weight of the thought crashes into him. His chest tightens as the room around him seems to blur—teammates laughing, cutlery clinking, voices overlapping—fading into a hollow echo. The world slows, yet his pulse quickens, each beat louder and heavier than the last.
And then, it hits him.
“I do like her.”
The words slip out of him before he even knows he’s saying them.
The jealousy, the longing, the unspoken hope he’d buried deep enough to convince himself it wasn’t there. But it was. It always had been.
The realization doesn’t just hit—it collides, with the force of a meteor smashing into the earth. It leaves him shaken, reeling, and terrified in all equal measure.
Oh god, I like her.
He’s been running from it, denying it, pretending it wasn’t there. But there’s no escaping it now. No undoing it. It’s real, undeniable, and alive inside him, threatening to consume him if he doesn’t let it out.
His gaze drops to his hands, fidgeting against his jeans. He hates the jealousy twisting in his chest. It wasn’t fair—to you, to the relationship you shared, undefined as it was.
Is my possessiveness hindering her job? She’s here to do her work, and I’m… what? A distraction? A complication?
The weight of the thought makes his stomach churn. And then there was the nagging doubt he couldn’t shake: Does she like me for me? Or is it just Hiori Yo, the athlete? The player?
His teammates’ laughter jolts him out of his thoughts. He blinks, realizing he missed half the conversation. He forces a tight-lipped smile as Isagi nudges him, but his mind wanders back to the phone in his pocket.
He reaches for it, his heart quickening at the sight of your name on the screen. A message from you.
/yn_offthepage: what the fuck was that about earlier?
He freezes, his thumb hovering over the notification. He hasn’t heard you curse even once. Even through the text, he can hear your biting tone inside his head, ringing.
The screen dims, and Hiori lets it. The weight of his uncertainty presses heavily on him. For now, he couldn’t bring himself to open the message.
Later that night, back in his room, Hiori sits at his desk, staring blankly at his PC screen. Even the idea of gaming felt hollow. His mind was too restless.
His eyes wander to the image of you and him sitting at the pitch all sweaty. It was the candid shot someone had taken during the content shoot where he taught you how to dribble.
You were looking afar with a big smile on your face, and he was looking at you with so much yearning, the smallest smile tugging at his lips, betraying him.
The sight of it stirred something in him. A longing, sharp and bittersweet. He wanted to know if you ever looked at him the way he looked at you at that moment.
But what if opening up ruined what you already had? What if his feelings crossed a line you weren’t ready to acknowledge?
Hiori sighs, leaning back in his chair. The questions linger, unanswered.
For now, all he can do is sit with them, hoping he’d find the courage to face you—and himself—soon.
Tumblr media
Your schedule finally winds down when the JFA hosts a midseason party disguised as a roadshow for the upcoming months and next season.
It’s a rare opportunity to step away from the chaos of your work, and you’re willing to take it. Networking, getting insider info straight from the lion’s den—and of course, free food and drinks.
Especially the free-flowing alcohol.
Despite the “casual” label slapped on the event, it’s still as lavish as you’d expect. Thank goodness there’s no formal dress code. You settled on your favorite gray high-waisted trousers paired with a tight-fitting black sleeveless turtleneck. Professional but bold, with just enough skin to leave an impression.
You can never go wrong with a little show of confidence, after all.
At the venue, you exchange pleasantries with Anri and Ego. The three of you make for an unusual trio, seated together like this. While you take notes as part of your routine, Anri occasionally scolds Ego for yawning or delivering sharp quips from the side.
The roadshow presentation is a mix of team management personnel, media representatives, investors, and a few JFA partners. As usual, the rest of the crowd is either running late or loitering outside, waiting for the afterparty to begin.
At least, you’re at ease knowing that you won’t bump into any players. Not just yet.
As soon as the program ends, the three of you continue to chat at the bar counter over drinks. But before you can even swap gossip with Anri, she’s whisked away by a group of Blue Lock graduates—punctual players from Italy Ubers. That leaves you alone with Ego, who sips whiskey neat while you nurse a Long Island iced tea.
“You’re doing better than the last time we met. Not bad for an unpolished gem,” he remarks dryly, lifting his glass.
It’s a backhanded compliment, but you can’t help the small flicker of pride it sparks.
“It’s... okay, I guess. But honestly, I didn’t expect how tough it’d be. The lines between work, passion, and personal life blur so easily.”
You ramble about juggling deadlines, clashing assignments, and the weight of endless expectations. Ego listens in silence, his sharp gaze unwavering.
“Then be an egoist,” he says bluntly, cutting through your ramblings like a knife. “You think those brats are just selfish jerks? They are. But egoism is what keeps them on top.
“It’s what makes them grow, thrive, and become the best. You’re no different. You have to feed your ego too, or else you’ll be devoured and spat out until you’re an empty husk of yourself.”
His words settle heavily in your chest. Before you can respond, Ego stands up, gives a half-hearted wave, and strides toward the exit, muttering something about how his tolerance for the evening’s schmoozing has reached its limit.
Scanning the room, you notice Anri still deep in conversation with some JFA people by the dance floor, while others mingle in scattered groups. The bar counter feels empty now, save for you and the two bartenders.
It’s a good time to pause and gather your thoughts—or maybe strike up a conversation with someone if the alcohol kicks in enough courage.
For now, you sit quietly, Ego’s words echoing in your mind.
Maybe he’s right. Maybe it’s time to stand up for yourself—to push for better assignments, to confront Hiori, to stop burying your frustrations under layers of professionalism and fear.
Liquid courage starts to course through your body, loosening your hesitation. You pull out your phone and quickly type a message to your editor.
“I want a new assignment. I think I deserve that much, don’t I?” You hit send and switch your phone to Do Not Disturb before you can even second-guess yourself.
Before your musings can go deeper, someone slides onto the stool to your right. You glance up to see Reo with his cheeks flushed pink and his smile wide with mischief.
Behind him, Nagi trails, hands stuffed into his pockets, his disheveled hair giving him an even lazier charm. The scent of whiskey clings to them both, Reo more noticeably so.
“Well, well, well, if it isn’t our favorite journalist,” Reo greets, his voice dripping with playful charm. “What are you doing here all alone? Don’t you know parties are for mingling?”
You glance up, managing to offer a small smile. “And here I thought parties were for free food and drinks.”
“Touché,” Reo laughs, leaning against the bar counter. “But c’mon, there’s more to this party than just snacks. Like us, for instance.”
“Us?” you echo, your brows raising slightly.
“Me and Nagi, of course,” he says, draping an arm over Nagi’s shoulder. “You know, we were just talking about you earlier. He thinks you’re cute.”
Nagi gives a small, noncommittal shrug, his half-lidded eyes fixed on you. “He’s not wrong.”
You blink, the casualness of his statement catches you off guard. Before you can process it, Reo leans in closer, his grin widening. “You should come dance with us. I mean, what’s the harm? A little fun never hurt anyone, right?”
Your laughter is polite but nervous as you shake your head. “I’m fine here, really.”
“Oh, come on,” Reo presses, nudging Nagi toward you. “You look real nice tonight. Don’t tell me you’re just going to sit here all night while looking like that.”
The warmth of Reo’s arm brushing against yours sends a strange buzz through you. Nagi watches quietly, an amused glint in his eyes, as though content to let Reo take the lead in whatever this is.
“You don’t have a boyfriend, right?” Nagi asks suddenly, his voice calm but cutting through the noise around you.
The question startles you, and your answer comes almost automatically. “I don’t.”
“Good,” Reo murmurs, his voice dropping to a suggestive whisper. “Then no one’s going to mind if we take you home tonight.”
The words hang in the air, heavy and electric. You almost choke on your drink, coughing slightly as you gape at him. “Wait, what?”
“Take you home,” Reo repeats, his smile slow and deliberate as if testing how far he can push. “You, me, and Nagi. What do you say? We’ll make sure it’s worth your time.”
Nagi’s lips quirk into a faint smile, watching you with an unreadable expression. “Reo’s kidding… mostly.” His tone is dry, but there’s an edge of intrigue that makes it hard to tell where the joke ends.
Your pulse quickens, confusion and a strange heat mingling as you glance between them. Reo’s boldness is dizzying while Nagi’s quiet amusement only adds to your disorientation.
“I… I’m flattered,” you stammer, your voice wavering. “But I’m not interested.”
“Aww c’mon! Give us a chance?” Reo pleads, lightly touching your bare arms.
“I’m really-”
You wonder if this is just a game to him or something more. But before you can untangle your thoughts, a firm hand lands on the counter to your left, the loud cutting through the tension like a blade.
You turn your head to see Hiori, his smile strained but unwavering. His gaze flickers between you before settling on Reo.
“Mind if I borrow Miss Journalist for a while?” he asks smoothly, though his words leave no room for argument.
Reo raises his hands in mock surrender, his grin unfaltering. “Alright, alright. But I’ll get my dance one day, Miss Journalist! Think about it!”
Hiori doesn’t wait for a reply, instead, he places a gentle but firm hand on your lower back, guiding you away from the bar as Reo and Nagi watch the both of you saunter away.
Tumblr media
"Hey," a small smile plays on Hiori’s lips as he greets you.
"Hi."
The balcony door slides shut behind him, muting the pounding bass and chatter from the dance floor. It’s just the two of you now, isolated from the noise, the cool autumn air biting at your skin.
You take a good look at Hiori. A white t-shirt tucked into matching trousers, paired with a soft navy cardigan that clings to his frame. He looks effortlessly put together, as always.
"Ya alright?" he asks, his voice laced with concern.
"Yeah," you lie, the words feel heavier than they should.
"What was that about?" Hiori frowns, tilting his head slightly.
"I… think Reo was asking me to uh… sleep with him and Nagi? Are they like, together?" you blurt out, half-laughing, trying to lighten the tension you can already feel brewing.
"Yeah, they are. Pretty low-key 'bout it. Wild, huh?" he chuckles, and for a moment, the tension eases.
But the silence that follows grows heavy. For a minute, neither of you talk. The soft whistle of the wind and the distant hum of the city fill the void between you, but neither of you moves to break it. Finally, you speak.
"You don’t text me anymore," you say suddenly, the accusation sharp.
"Ya never replied," Hiori counters just as quickly, his tone flat but the edge unmistakable.
You bite your lip. "I didn’t know what to say. It felt like you were accusing me of something."
Now, Hiori looks guilty, his lips pressing into a thin line.  "Just… just stop tryin’ to avoid this. Shuttin’ me out isn’t going to fix the problem."
"I wasn’t shutting you out," you argue, but even you don’t believe it. "I just—didn’t know how to respond. It felt like no matter what I said, it wouldn’t be enough."
"And ya thought ignorin’ me was better? Just pretendin’ nothin’ happened?" His voice rises, frustration simmering to the surface.
"What was I supposed to say? ‘Hey, it was just work. I’m not interested in Nagi or Manshine City.’ What am I to you to have to defend myself like that?" you snap back, your voice trembling.
"I don’t know!" Hiori snaps back, his frustration breaking through. "I thought we were close enough to say things like that to each other!"
"And your message had no emojis!" your words overlap with Hiori. It was definitely a petty statement but at this point, your emotions are spilling over in ways even you don’t understand.
Hiori’s eyes narrow, his voice dropping to a dangerous softness. "Didya ever care about me?"
"Because it doesn’t feel like ya do. Ya ignored me when we won. I looked for ya. I know ya saw me. But ya wouldn’t even look my way.." His voice cracks and you see the hurt he’s been burying.
"Do ya know what that felt like?" His voice is a whisper, pleading.
You know the answer. That it hurt like a bitch. Because you felt the same pain when both of you went on the silent treatment for weeks. Embarrassment flooded your chest.
This could’ve been resolved easily by just talking things through. This confrontation could’ve been avoided and saved you both the time. But no.
Instead, you let the hurt fester even further, creating this invisible barrier between the two of you. And now, the blame game is on. And it doesn’t even make sense.
"It wasn’t about you!" Before you can even think, your words tumbling out in desperation. "It was for work. I-I didn’t want to be seen as the Bastard München… fangirl."
"Why not?" Hiori’s voice rises, taken aback by your words. "We ain’t good enough fer ya? Or is it just me? Am I not good enough fer ya?"
The words hit you like a tidal wave, leaving you momentarily stunned. "I didn’t say that," you whisper, your voice trembling.
"And why should that matter?" Hiori snaps, his voice raw with emotion. "Why does it feel like yer always running away from me?"
Even Hiori himself can’t comprehend why he’s so frustrated. He’s felt betrayal from his parents before. For them caring more about his stature as an athlete than his well-being as their son.
But this one’s different.
He knows how petty he is being. But he can’t help himself not be vulnerable around you. All reason, all logic thrown out of the window because of you.
All he can think at this point is how good it felt talking to you about work and games. How good it felt when you would talk about football with him with such a glimmer in your eyes that it fascinates him to see how you view the sport.
How it felt good when you would run up to him to interview him and the team as you guys exchange knowing smiles, fingers grazing just barely. All he knows is that you are magnetic.
Even right now, all he can think about is being close to you.
You turn away from him. A shiver runs down your spine, regretting not wearing something more warm for this party.
I can’t do this. Not now, you thought.
“Please leave me alone. For now. I can’t do this, Hiori.”
The autumn air nips are your arms. Instinctively, you cross your arm in hopes of warming yourself, eyes gazing away from Hiori still. A warm hand envelopes one of yours and you feel the thick cardigan drapes over you, shielding you from the cold wind.
Hiori’s gaze softens, but his voice remains firm. "M’not leaving until ya tell me what’s going on. Why are ya pushing me away?"
Your shoulders slump as the weight of it all crashes down on you. "Because I feel guilty, okay?" you say. "I don’t want you to think I’m using you."
"People talk," you continue, your voice breaking. "All I hear is how I’m some opportunist, bandwagoning on Bastard München—on you."
You swallow hard, your chest tightening. "I don’t know what this is," you finally admit, gesturing between the two of you.
"I don’t know what we are, or what I’m even allowed to hope for. And I don’t want to push you or cross a line, but it’s—" Your voice breaks, tears threatening to spill any moment.
"It’s like I’m trying to walk on this invisible tightrope, and I’m scared of messing it all up."
Hiori’s gaze softens, but you keep going, unable to stop now. "I don’t know who I am anymore. I don’t know how to navigate this—whatever this is—without hurting you or myself or both. And why should you care, right?" you add bitterly, the words tasting like poison.
Hiori steps closer, his voice breaking. "I care. Yer the one person who made me feel like more than just a player. And it hurts like hell to feel like I don’t matter to ya."
"You do matter," you whisper, your voice trembling. "You’re the one thing I think about when I work, Hiori. You’re the reason I believe in myself. But you’re… you’re s-so out of reach, and I’m terrified of ruining what little we have."
Your voice quivers as you reply, "And I don’t know how to fix it, Hiori. I don’t even know where to begin. And it’s not fair to you. You’re you—amazing and steady and… everything I’m not."
He closes the distance between you, his hands gripping your shoulders. "Dontcha get it? I don’t need us to have all the answers now. Just need ya to stop running."
Tears stream down your face as the weight of his words sinks in. "I’m scared," you whisper.
"And ya think I’m not?" he shoots back, his voice cracking.
"Yer all I think about, and it terrifies me. But I don’t care. I’m here. I’m stayin’. And I’ll wait as long as it takes fer ya to figure out who ya are—because I already know who ya are to me."
For a moment, the world holds still. Then Hiori closes the distance between you, his hands cupping your face gently. He hesitates, searching your eyes for permission, and when you don’t pull away, he leans in.
"Yer amazing," he whispers, breath hot against your lips. "And ya don’t even realize it."
The kiss is soft at first, testing, but quickly deepens as the emotions between you spill over. His lips are warm, grounding you, and when his tongue brushes yours, it leaves you breathless.
You melt under his touch. The kiss itself is intoxicating, as if you’re drowning, lightheaded by the swirling emotions and the budding heat within you.
When he finally pulls away, he rests his forehead against yours. "I like ya too, y’know" he murmurs. "M’sorry fer doubting ya. Fer making ya feel like ya had to carry this alone."
He kisses you again, slower this time as if savoring the moment. "I’m sorry for being a coward. For not talking to you."
You clutch at his shirt, your tears mingling with his kiss. "I’m sorry too," you whisper into his mouth.
He smiles faintly, brushing a tear from your cheek. "All this because my message didn’t have an emoji, huh?" he laughs softly, the sound vibrating against your lips.
You let out a shaky laugh, the tension between you finally giving way to something lighter. In this moment, with him, you feel the weight of your worries start to lift, even if just for now.
In this moment, with him, you wish the night would never end.

I will Always Find You
Main Masterlist
Character Masterlist:
(Vox x fem!reader)
Word Count: 5782 (i got too carried away)
Outline: You, the wife of the infamous media overlord Vox, falls from Heaven and you find yourself in a chaotic new world. You meet the Hazbin Hotel crew, but most of all, you met him. Your long lost love.
Warning(s): Canon typical violence, language, etcetera.
A/N: Heyy guys, I totally was not gone for an entire year. . .but, I'm done with High School now so I will probably start posting a little bit more often. . .*no promises though. my memory is absolute garbage*
Also, why am I obsessed with a TV?
Story below the cut:
Heaven.
The place all virtuous and 'perfect' people ascend to after living the life every good person is meant.
You don't even know how you got here. You always thought that you would go to Hell. (Not to put it lightly) Perhaps it was because you were widowed at a rather young age. Perhaps it was because you were murdered by your late husband's arch rival. Or maybe, it was a bit of all.
Your life on earth wasn't bad per se. In fact, you had a very happy life. You got married at the fruitful age of 20, to your best friend, and lived in a very comfortable home. Your husband, Vincent Holland, was a big-time news reporter in your hometown.
But, why was it in Heaven that almost all your memories regarding Vincent were blurry? As if someone with significant power was preventing you from reminiscing on your past life?
You could barely remember his face; his award winning smile. His sapphire blue eyes, and his dark hair.
You hated this.
You couldn't even remember how long ago you died.
Hell, you couldn't even remember how you died. Just that you were murdered one day and your body was left to rot in a random alley.
A hand waving in front of your face interrupted your sad train of thoughts, and your attention immediately shifted back to your friend. Or acquaintance, you weren't exactly sure where your friendship status lay.
"You alright there, partner?"
You sighed slowly and nodded your head in affirmation. You weren't sure if you were doing it to convince them that you were okay, or yourself.
"I'm alright, Kai, just a bit tired ," you mumbled pathetically. Kai was a very beautiful shark-like angel. You met them some time ago and instantly clicked with one another. But, Kai was one of those people that had a tendency of gossiping with their girlfriend Molly. And you were never comfortable sharing anything beyond your life in Heaven.
Which was a pity because you were sure if you shared it, you wouldn't feel so fucking stressed out.
The shark angel let out a small laugh and gently patted your head.
"Sure, sure. Whatever you say m'lady. You know if there's anything bothering you, you could always talk to me or Molly, right?"
You again nodded your head, even though you probably would never take up the offer.
"Hey you guys! How are you both doing?"
Speak of the devil and he shalt appear.
"Hey Molly! I see you're finally off of work?"
"Yup! And I brought a treat for you both!" Molly said in a sing-song tone of voice. Kai smiled with a nearly evil-like grin and made grabby hands at their girlfriend.
"Gimme, I can smell the baked goods!"
You chuckled at Kai's antics and stood up from the chair you were sitting in. Kai raised a brow at you and you motioned with your hand that you were going to get another drink. You picked up your now empty whisky bottle and began to head over to the bar where you and Kai find yourselves frequently whenever you both have had a long day at work.
The bartender, Mr Smiles (as Molly so lovingly named him) greeted you with a very drunken smirk when you arrived at your favourite destination.
"Hello there, Mrs. Holland. To what do I owe the pleasure?"
You rolled your eyes and sat down on one of the barstools, placing your cup down and sliding it over to the bartender.
"Another, please." you said simply. Mr. Smiles blinked at you before grabbing your cup and pouring more of the golden liquid into it.
"The 'Another' for the lady." he said cheekily, to which you giggled. You snatched the cup up from the table and practically downed the strong liquid and forced back a gag when it burned your throat. The bartender chuckled at your silliness and leaned over the bar so you could hear each other better over the loud chatter of the Cloud Nine bar. (You and Kai always found the name of the bar to be hilarious)
"So, you never drink this much unless you have something to spill. Need to talk about something sweetheart?" he asked with a patient tone of voice.
You sighed dramatically and leaned back against your chair, deep in thought.
"I just. . ." you trailed off in thought before sighing again in annoyance at your capability of explaining your biggest problem.
"You just?" he tried to urge you to continue, but was rudely interrupted when a flock of angels came bursting into the room.
"His Holiness, Archangel Michael needs to discuss important matters in Town Square. Everyone present is required to make an audience immediately."
Murmurs began to fill the room in confusion of the sudden announcement. You raised your brow at the bartender, quietly asking him if he knew what all the commotion was about. He shrugged before continuing on with putting the remaining glasses away.
"Hey, partner, we need to head out to Town Square." Kai said, putting a webbed hand onto your shoulder. You nodded and stood up, following close behind your two buddies. Molly, like always, had a small hop to her step as if she was always happy and excited about things. Her partner smiled at her giddiness and soon began to also skip along with her.
Oh, how much you missed being able to have someone to be close with. And once again, your thoughts began to turn back to your late husband, Vincent.
You missed him so much.
And you were fully aware that your beloved Vincent was in Hell. The place you were also sure to go to when you kicked the bucket. But alas, here you are, in the city of silver and gold.
You stopped abruptly when you reached Town Square and noticed how big of a crowd was already there. Thousands of angels and souls alike, all stood cramped up around a huge balcony that belonged to Archangel Palace.
The chatter began to quiet down when the all-loved Archangel Michael stepped up to the balcony and waved to the crowd to silence their speech.
Kai bent over to you and whispered about how interesting things were going to get. You didn't respond, but instead gasped when a photo got projected onto the side of one of the Palace's huge spires. It was a really bloody scene: demonic-like creatures were sprawled all over the ground, torn to shreds from what you could tell. What made you feel faint, however, was the carcuses of angels. What the fuck were angels doing in Hell?
It seemed that a lot of other people were questioning the same exact thing, and Michael, once again announced order from the crowd and the only sound remaining were the hushed whispers.
"It has come to my knowledge that a secret organisation has been founded without my permission. Adam, the first man, and Sera, have been discovered sending down angels every year to kill them." He stopped mid explanation and waved his hand over to an angel that stood close to him. A scroll was placed into Michael's hands, and he unscrolled it and began to read whatever was written onto it.
"According to the words of Sera: Hell has become too overpopulated, and a risk of war could arise. Exterminations have been a necessity, and is, therefore required to keep balance between Good, and Evil." Michael immediately crumpled up the scroll, and threw it back at the poor angel that was beside him to catch.
"This is all tyranny, of course. Me and the Council did not agree to such lunacy, which is why, we are going to have a public vote as to whether or not Sera should be ex-communicated from Heaven."
A loud gasp came from the crowd.
Especially from Molly, who also seemed to begin to tear up.
"That means she'll be thrown to Hell!" she choked back a sob in surprise. Kai patted their girlfriends back to try and sooth her large and soft heart.
You, however, were enraged from the idea of angels going down and killing people. Your beloved Vincent was down there. What if he was killed?!
And like always, your spiral of thoughts was interrupted when Michael began to speak again.
"Just to be absolutely clear, this is never to be discussed with anyone ever again. After the vote is casted, anyone caught discussing this topic will immediately be casted from Paradise, and into the pits of Hell for treachery. I cannot be clear enough."
Murmurs filled the Square as everyone agreed to Michael's proposal.
"Great! Well, everyone better head off to vote now! Have a great day everyone." And like that, he vanished in a cloud of golden smoke.
You didn't realise your jaw was hanging open until Kai mentioned that you looked like a venus-fly trap waiting for a bug to land in your mouth. You clamped it shut instantly and glared at them.
"Chill! It was just supposed to be a joke!" They huffed in faux offence. Molly giggled at her partner's antics, and gently rubbed her fingers in between Kai's fins that decorated their body.
"Calm down, love. We need to head to a voting booth so we can cast votes. I know what I'm voting for."
"Yeah, I can't believe such a thing was happening behind our backs! Who knows how long it has been going on?"
Molly sighed and rubbed her fuzzy face for comfort.
"I don't know, but I hope it wasn't for too long. I believe some of my family is down there."
"Yikes, that's tough. I'm sorry for that." Kai said with sympathy laced in their voice.
You blinked back tears that were forming in your eyes. You would not cry over the possibility that your Vincent was double-dead.
You were strong.
+++
You sighed heavily when you arrived at your small apartment later that evening.
"What a rotten day," you mumbled to yourself. As if on command, your pet land-shark Vark came running into the foyer. You smiled instantly and picked up the little creature and began to pet him between his eyes.
You and Vincent loved sharks. It was a shared passion you both had that made you best friends instantly. When you first got married, you both always joked of getting a shark and naming it Vark.
Well, you had the shark, just not Vincent.
You were thinking about him again, and it was making you feel bad once more.
Why couldn't you remember some things? Who or what was making you forget?
You placed Vark back onto the ground, who of course, whined with the lack of affection from your part. You stepped over the land-shark and headed over to your balcony, that had a perfect view of the Embassy of Heaven. The place you go to whenever you have questions regarding the after-life and anything else.
Maybe there you would find answers.
With a new destination in mind, you grabbed Vark's leash and hooked him up to it. Vark began to wag his tail (well, his fin) in excitement about where you would be taking him. You smiled again at your pet's adorable-ness and began to head back outside once more.
The streets of Heaven were very peaceful. Just about no soul was out and about. It made sense since it was rather late. Around eleven o'clock actually.
Soon, the golden pillars of the Embassy came into view, and you let out a sigh when you realised it was still open. You approached the heavy double doors and swallowed back a scream when they opened up automatically. Vark found it hilarious however, when you just about died a second time from a mini heart attack.
You huffed at your shark and headed inside the golden-themed building and found that it was practically empty. I mean-duh it was empty, it was basically in the middle of the night.
A Cherub, from the looks of it, approached you and gave you a rather judgmental look over.
"Honey, I'm sorry to say this but no pets are allowed." the Cherub said with an irritating tone of voice.
You stared at the flying goat-creature and rolled your eyes.
"Vark, is a service pet. I am afraid you can't throw him out." you lied with a fake smile. One thing that Vincent taught you to do well, was fake things. You were especially good at putting on a fake show. One of the things that, once again, surprised you that Heaven looked over.
Wasn't lying a big sin?
The Cherub interrupted your thoughts when she cleared her throat rather obnoxiously.
"Alright honey. Whatever you say. To what do I owe the pleasure of assisting you with this evening?"
"Oh, well. . .I am not so sure how to explain it." you answered truthfully; slightly cringing at your lack of effort of just telling her.
The Cherub pulled out a clipboard from thin air you assumed (since she most certainly wasn't holding one earlier) and began to scribble something onto it.
"Well, Mr. Heart will be able to assist you with whatever, 'complicated' issue you have got going on." She handed you a piece of paper that had practically illegible handwriting on it, and pointed to a corridor that led to a couple of office rooms.
"Hope you find what you need, honey. Good night." and like that, she sauntered off to what you assumed to be her office. What a weird person, you thought with a click of your tongue.
You began your tread to Mr. Heart's office, and stopped when you reached the door. You lifted your hand to knock but stopped when the door was flung open and a rather energetic angel stepped out of the room.
"Hey there! You must be one of the 'poor souls' Chili sent to me! Come on in!" he moved aside and held a hand out for you to shake, to which he practically tore off yours when he shook it rather rigorously.
"The name is Heart! What's yours m'lady?"
You mumbled your name back and he let out a very loud laugh.
"Why, Mrs. Holland! Quite the pleasure to be meeting you!"
You nodded your head and held back a gasp when he pulled you by the hand into the office.
"So, tell me what has troubled you enough to venture here so late in the night?"
You opened your mouth to begin speaking, but clamped it down when you couldn't find the right words to say. Damn it, you were nervous. You couldn't, however, pinpoint if it was from the very very close proximity of the Angel, or the lack of knowledge of how to explain your memories being jumbled up.
You could begin by telling the angel to take a few hundred steps back.
"Sorry, but um, could you step back a bit?" You asked with a shaky breath. The Angel smiled with pearly white teeth, but didn't seem to move an inch.
"I can't hear you clearly if I am too far back. It is best if I stay here." He said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. (or Heaven)
You nodded, even though you doubt that was the truth. You mentally noted to never come back here again once you're down getting some answers.
"So, I have a question." You began.
"Everyone that comes here has questions. But I can't exactly be sure that your question is legal to answer or not."
Your eyes widened in curiosity. Some questions could be illegal to ask? Flashbacks from today's event clouded your thoughts, but you immediately shook them away. A traitor is how you would be viewed if you discussed with anyone about today. And you would be quite foolish to bring it up with an official member of the Council.
"So, you were saying, Mrs. Holland?"
"Why am I not able to remember some things about my life on Earth?" You may as well pull off the bandage and stop dancing around the bush in fear of being judged. Your worries worsened when the Angel's eyes seemed to darken a little.
"Whatever do you mean, darling? What memories?"
"That is the whole point! I know that I can't remember some things! I just don't know what." frustration was very clear in your voice at this point.
Mr. Heart laughed wholeheartedly as if your 'situation' was the funniest thing anyone has ever told him.
"Well my dear, no need to get all fierce with me! I only want to assist you. And it seems that you are treading on very dangerous waters. I would watch out if I were you."
You swear your eyes became fire. How dare he act as if your troubles were something scandalous! Vark began to lick your leg as an attempt to calm you down, which worked for a moment until the 'ever lovable' Mr. Heart reached a hand out and began to rub your shoulders as if he had any right to touch you.
Vark, being the wonderful pet he is, noticed this and bit his leg. The angel howled in pain and kicked your beloved baby and he began to wail in pain. At this point, all you saw was red as you lunged onto the man and began to beat him up with what some people would call a 'mother's fiery.'
Some raised voices from outside of the office eventually joined the chaos of the room, and you were dragged off the very-much battered up Mr. Heart. Well, Mr. Heartless to you.
"Mrs. Holland! How dare you strike a Seraphim! That is considered treachery to the Hierarchy of the Council!" the same Cherub from earlier screeched at you in a high-pitched tone.
"Well I'll be damned! He touched me without consent and kicked my pet! I was defending myself-"
"You lie! One sin after another! How could you!?" you felt yourself being picked up from two service angels, and being dragged to another room, your shark following you right behind.
"Where are you taking me?" You shouted, attempting to pull off the two angels that were holding you roughly.
"We're not taking you anywhere. You are going to be sent somewhere." the Cherub said with a malicious tone of voice. You bit back a sob when the words processed in your head.
They were going to send you to Hell
You eventually approached a door that read 'Employees Only' and met a room that had an arch that took up the entire floor.
The portal to Hell. The place they were going to toss you into for something utterly stupid. How hypocritical of them. Heaven, the place of love and peace? My ass!
The Cherub flew over to a panel on the side of the wall, and loud sirens were heard throughout the room. Hell, you bet the entire 'cloud kingdom' could hear the loud blaring the room was making.
A red coloured portal began to appear on the ground within the structure of the arch. You gulped and felt tears begin to dwell in your eyes.
This was it.
Good-bye Heaven. Good-bye Kai and Molly.
You could hear Vark wailing from the loud noises and you attempted at twisting around to look at him. Your last attempt at begging for your shark's mercy was cut off when you were tossed into the portal.
You fell for a moment.
Then everything went dark.
+++
What awoke you from your 'dreamless sleep' was the feeling of something wet being dragged across your face. You moaned in pain when everything came crashing down on you. Literally.
Your back hurts, your head hurts, hell, even your face hurts.
You opened your eyes and noticed your beloved land-shark was on top of you, licking your face. You didn't feel anything but pure joy at that moment when you realised your shark wasn't going to be left all alone up in Heaven.
"My baby! I thought I wouldn't see you again!" you cried aloud and clutched the shark tightly against your chest. Vark seemed to love the attention and began to get all giddy from your loving embrace.
You pulled away from him after a few minutes, and began to observe the scenery around you. You appeared to be in some sort of alleyway, noting that there was garbage and other things that you didn't care to find out what it was exactly. You stood up slowly, and nearly fell back to the ground when you felt your knees shake.
Damn, you fell hard.
(Not as hard as you fell for Vincent though)
Vark noticed that you were in pain, and began to lick you again as a way of comforting you. You smiled softly and patted his smooth head in reassurance that you would be alright. Vark got the memo, and jumped from your arms. You attempted to stand again, and lent against the wall for support.
"Vark, I need you to do me a small favour." You said with a small voice. Vark wagged his fin and his tongue poked out of his mouth in anticipation for what your next words would be.
"Can you go up ahead and see if there is anyone that can help me? I don't think I'm going to be able to get around."
Vark tilted his head to the side in slight confusion to your words, to which you sighed heavily.
"I'm hurt Vark. I need help." You said a bit more simply. Vark recognised the phrase from when you trained him years ago, and immediately ran around the corner of the alleyway in search of some suitable help.
Who are you kidding? This is Hell. Why would anyone want to help? You sighed and placed your fingers on the bridge of your nose to attempt to relieve some stress that was building up.
What a rotten day.
+++
Minutes turned into hours, and you began to grow weary that something had happened to Vark. That is until you heard the familiar pat pat of Vark's fins.
You looked up from the corner you were hiding in, and noticed a very tall demoness was approaching you with Vark and-was that Molly?
"Oh my gosh! Are you alright?!" The demoness exclaimed with pure worry in her tone. You smiled weakly and shook your head.
"No, I-I'm sorry if I'm a bit of an inconvenience. You see, I was kinda kicked out of Heaven? And I'm injured from falling. . ." You babbled on. Maybe you hit your head harder than you thought.
The demoness held a sympathetic gaze in her eyes, and she looked over to her companion who was observing you as if you were an anomaly.
"Wait, you're from Heaven?"
You nodded your head, and the fellow seemed to get all smiley. Why? Who knows.
"That's crazy toots! Ya know, my sister is up there, I wonder if you eveh got to meet 'er."
You shrugged nonchalantly.
"I didn't meet much folk up there. I'm not much for socialising."
The spider-like dude nodded his head in understanding.
"'Tis fine, we are all different. Anyway, the name is Angel Dust, and this is her majesty Charlie." He pointed to himself then waved one of his other arms to the blonde demoness, who you now know as Charlie.
She was beaming with complete and utter joy. Why do they both smile so much when they are in the fiery pits of inferno?
"You need to come back with us and tell us EVERYTHING! You could be so helpful for my hotel!" Charlie began, but then immediately stopped once she noticed you were very much lost.
"I'm so sorry for being so direct with you! I'm Charlie, as Angel said. I should've asked if you wanted our help first. I mean, of course you want my help! I mean, do you?" She awkwardly trailed off when she noticed that you were staring at her as if she had grown another head.
Hotel? What does she mean by that?
"What she is trying to ask is if you needed a place to stay?" Angel asked, brushing his hands through his hair (was it hair?) and smoothing it over. His hair (it was definitely not hair but you didn't know what else to call it.) reminded you of Molly, and your heart ached at the thought of Kai and Molly going to your apartment and not finding you there.
You felt tears welled up in your eyes, but you tried hard to not look like you were about to burst into a puddle of sadness and utter hopelessness.
Charlie noticed this, however, and she crouched down to your height and engulfed you with the warmest hug you've ever received in a long time. You felt the dam break, and immediately you began to sob. At this point, you don't even know what you are crying over.
Maybe it's for everything that has happened over the past-decade?
Decades?
You were not entirely sure at this point honestly.
You both eventually entangled each other from the hug, and she offered you a hand to help you up. You took it gratefully, and stood up slowly to prevent yourself from falling back over. Charlie smiled at you softly, to which you grinned back.
"Alright now, are we headin’' back to the Hotel?" Angel asked with a hint of impatience in his voice. Charlie nodded her head, but looked back at you to make sure that is what you wanted. You properly smiled that time, and they both took the answer as 'yes'.
+++
The hotel was nothing like how you imagined. You learned on the trip there that the hotel was a place where sinners dwelled to try and redeem themselves to earn salvation.
That was the most wholesome thing you thought you would ever hear in Hell. There's hope for you yet.
You were currently in the lounge of the hotel, where a lot of 'group activities' took place on a daily basis. You and Vark were on top of a very comfortable couch that was tucked away in a corner. You were honestly so comfy, that you felt yourself dozing off. Until you heard a voice that made you want to rip your ears off.
"Why, hello! I didn't know our beloved Charlie had once again found another unfortunate soul to try out her silly project!"
The man's voice sounded muffled, almost as if he was speaking through some sort of antique microphone from ages ago. You made eye-contact with the looming figure, and noticed he reassembled a deer in a strange and unique way.
Who the Hell was this man? And why is he so-red?
As if he could read your mind, he shoved his hand in your face to shake and practically announced to the hotel who he was.
"The name is Alastor! Welcome to the Hazbin Hotel!" You smile you returned was weak but you still shook his hand, and sighed when you realised he wasn't about to break your hand like the other guy. Mr. Heart or whatever his name was.
That stupid prick. You were mad at him again.
"No need to frown, dear! Smile some more! You're never fully dressed without one!"
This Alastor was starting to get on your nerves. And he seemed to be a staff member of the place, which only meant you would be seeing him a lot. That is if you stayed. Also, his own smile was slightly unnerving. . .not to mention kind of creepy.
"Alastor! Leave the poor girl alone." you heard Charlie call from another part of the lounge. Alastor rolled his eyes before he turned hot on his heels to argue back that he was simply 'introducing' himself.
Whatever, you didn't really care.
You stood up from the couch, Vark following closely, and began to sneak away from the chaos of the Hotel. You eventually found yourself on the sidewalks of the busy street of some part of town.
One thing you noted was how many bright neon lights decorated the sides of buildings and billboards. Vark seemed to be lost in the flashing colours and noises of the advertisements playing on TV's.
There were so many TV's. Which triggered a long lost memory that you never remembered from your time in Heaven.
It was a year or so after you and Vincent got married. He had just landed a job as a news reporter for a small company that was local to your hometown. You were aware that he loved all the new technology that was being released too quickly to follow up on. But you never expected him to one day bring back an extremely expensive TV for your living room.
"Vincent! What on Earth did you get this time?"
He rolled his eyes and rolled a portable box TV into the kitchen for you to examine.
"I got us a TV. It's especially for you so you can watch me when I'm on the afternoon news." He said with a cheeky smile. You chuckled at his antics and headed over to him to give him a hug.
"You're such an attention seeker, and you're also adorable."
He only laughed at that, and hugged you back just as tightly as you.
"Only for you doll, only for you."
The memory faded, and it left you standing idiotically in the middle of the sidewalk. That was new, and not to mention, so heartwarming.
You missed Vincent. A lot. And you were aware you kept thinking about him. Must be because your memories are no longer blocked.
Vark began to bark at an advertisement when you noticed a man with a TV for a head appeared on one of the TV's close to you. He was talking about some sort of security system, but you didn't care. What you did care about was how familiar his grin was to you.
That wasn't a coincidence, was it?
Vark distracted you from your thoughts when he began to run away when the scent of seafood wafted through the air. You out called after him and began to spring after the shark.
How does an animal run so fast with fins?
You once again got lost in your thoughts and didn't notice that you and your runaway shark were headed towards a huge crowd that was forming in front of a building nearby. Vark, being so small, ran in between the demons of all sizes and continued on his way. You were about to do the same until you ran into someone and knocked yourself and the stranger down.
"Woah! Careful where you're running off to!"
"I am so sorry!" You squealed when you realised that you had unintentionally caused a scene. You had landed completely on top of a random person; in front of a huge crowd; and it was the same man with the TV head.
Ah, what luck you had. Your thoughts were cut off when the TV headed man began to look you up and down, which made you very...uncomfortable? But his gaze felt familiar, as if instinct was telling you you knew this strange man.
"I feel like I've seen you before, do I know you?" He began, but you cut him off when you scrambled to your feet when you noticed Vark returned to you with some fish in his mouth. Or what you assumed was fish.
"Vark! You are in so much trouble!" You announced, bending over to pick up the mischievous land-shark that has caused oh-so-many problems with you today.
You heard people around you murmur, to which you raised your brow to, but decided to ignore. You turned back around to again apologise to the man you so rudely knocked over, but found him staring at you as if you had hung the stars in the sky.
What was his deal?
You heard him mumble your name, which definitely made you jump a bit.
"What was that?"
He rushed over to you instantly and immediately grabbed your arm and pulled you into the building the crowd was forming around, completely ignoring all the commotion that began to arise outside.
You both eventually reached a secluded corridor, and you found yourself standing in close proximity with the man.
Who even is he? And what the fuck gave him the right to drag you around like a doll?
He called your name again, and you felt his hands gently cup your cheeks. You met his artificial gaze, and you all but gasped when it all finally clicked.
Vincent Holland. Your long lost and beloved husband.
"V-Vincent?" You stammered, completely bewildered that you had somehow found him in a city with millions of people. Maybe luck was truly on your side finally.
"H-how?" You started, but got cut off when a pair of digital lips met yours in a sweet kiss. Your eyes widened in shock: you were kissing a TV. But this was also your husband. (Who had a screen for a head somehow…)
You closed your eyes and wrapped your arms around his neck and deepened the kiss, humming softly when he began to bite and suck at your lips. You pulled away, however, when Vark began to cry from the lack of your attention.
"Vark! Stop it!" you scolded him. Vincent chuckled at the interaction to which you raised a brow.
"What's so funny?"
"Oh nothing. I also have a land-shark named Vark." he stated as if it were the most obvious thing. Your eyes widened in disbelief.
"Are you being serious?"
"Yes, doll. I got him as soon as I found out you could have one. And I named him Vark because, well, we always joked about it."
You smiled so sweetly at this. You and Vincent coincidently having a pet shark and naming them the same was just too heartwarming to you. You pulled him back into another kiss, to which Vincent welcomed whole-heartedly.
You pulled away after a minute when your lungs burned for air, and noticed Vincent was staring at you adoringly.
"What is it?" You asked.
"I thought I would never see you again. You don't know how much I've missed you. I looked for you everywhere as soon as I was able to to it safely. Even though it didn't happen as fast as I wanted, I knew I would always find you." he whispered. He kissed your head gently, which you leaned into slightly.
You felt your heart ache a little, when you realised that he probably didn't get to live in an oblivious bliss to your absence. A perk of living in Heaven, you supposed, was the lack of memory of anything that could make you wish the fiery pits of Inferno.
"Me too Vincent, me too. I'm so glad that I found you again." you placed your forehead against his (screen), and shared a loving embrace.
You and your beloved Vincent, was once again, united.
i finally looked over it, and part one of the prologue is up. if there is any mistakes i didnt catch, feel free to let me know!
also, i love vark. he carries this story ngl.
But I still will because this story felt very. . .rushed. even though it's so DAMN LONG HOLY SHIT.

Come with Me Part 01
This was the last thing Adam expected. What was supposed to be a typical, tedious meeting had become something else entirely. The annual gathering between Heaven and Hell was meant to cover whatever Sera deemed important these days, though Adam was often left wondering why his presence was required at all. Neither side cared for his input or even acknowledged his existence. Normally, Adam would sit off to the side, lost in his thoughts, patiently waiting for the tiresome ordeal to end.
The King of Hell and the Queen of Heaven rarely noticed him. Adam was there merely because Sera and Michael insisted on it. He would have much preferred to retreat into the solitude of his room, away from the Winners and his new Guardian Angel, Emily. It was easier to vanish in his own corner of the universe. He often wondered why Eve never had to endure these meetings. She was lucky.
Since their deaths, they had been tethered together, though Adam despised the constant attention of the Winners, while Eve relished it. She adored being adored. Over time, the truth about their strained relationship in life became clear. They hadn’t truly loved each other, not in the way the angels had intended. They were more like siblings, with Eve treating Adam like a younger brother—an absurd notion, in Adam’s opinion. After all, he had come first, hadn’t he?
Eve’s love life, on the other hand, had blossomed in secret with another woman, someone Adam had yet to meet but who, by Eve’s account, was everything she deserved and more. Their relationship remained a clandestine affair, always under the watchful eye of Sera, whose wrath would be merciless if she ever found out.
As Adam stepped into the grand hall, he paused, puzzled by the silence that greeted him. "Where is everyone?" His voice echoed throughout the vast chamber, making him flush with embarrassment.
The hall, split in two with one half bathed in celestial blues and whites, the other in infernal reds and blacks, was empty. The rows of chairs were deserted—no Sera with her stern, disapproving glare; no icy indifference from Lilith; no smug, taunting grin from Lucifer. Even Michael, with his usual cold detachment, was nowhere to be seen. It was unsettlingly quiet.
Adam wondered if he could leave. If no one was present, what was the point in staying? But, of course, the universe had other plans. One of the grand, crimson thrones that belonged to Hell’s royal family swivelled slowly towards him. Lounging lazily in the chair was Lucifer, his crimson and amber eyes half-lidded, his serpentine tail flicking back and forth like a bored cat.
“Oh.” Adam frowned, locking eyes with the devil himself.
“Just little old me, I’m afraid,” Lucifer drawled, his voice dripping with amusement.
Adam stood there, speechless. It had been centuries since it was just the two of them. Not since Eden. Not since before Lilith had appeared. Being alone with Lucifer now, after all this time, felt wrong, unsettling. His skin tingled with unease, a shiver running down his spine. Every instinct screamed at him to leave, to slam the hall doors shut behind him, and maybe even convince Eve to take over these cursed meetings in his place.
"Aw," Lucifer cooed mockingly, that insufferable grin spreading across his sharp features. His tail continued to sway, taunting Adam with its slow rhythm. "Judging by that look on your face, you’re not thrilled to see me, Addie~."
The sound of the nickname made Adam’s stomach churn. Addie. He hadn’t been called that since Eden, a lifetime ago, before the fall, before the heartache. The name carried with it a wave of old wounds, of pain buried deep within him. He hated it. It reminded him of the first time his heart had shattered, of the bitter tears he’d shed alone in that cursed garden.
"Where’s the Queen?" Adam deflected, his voice tight, unwilling to utter her name. The familiar ache of loss welled up inside him, constricting his throat.
Lucifer’s eyes flickered with something—regret?—but it vanished as quickly as it had come. “Lilith finds these meetings... tiresome. She prefers more interesting company.”
There it was—a thinly veiled insult, cutting as always. Adam had never understood why both Lilith and Lucifer seemed to harbour such animosity toward him. It wasn’t as though he had betrayed them to the angels, sending them to their damnation. When he had discovered them with Eve, he had turned away without a word, refusing to get involved.
He hadn’t wanted to be caught in the middle of their twisted web. And yet, here he was, punished alongside them, cast out for simply existing. The angels had blamed him for allowing it all to happen, for letting Eve be swayed by temptation. What could he have done? Shadow her every move? Chain her to him? Eve had her own will, her own desires, and Adam had vowed never to impose on another soul after Lilith’s rejection. He had learned the hard way that love couldn’t be forced.
Granted, he had only wanted both Lucifer and Lilith to look at him, to stop ignoring him and spent time with him, but it had only pushed them further away. So, when Eve was presented to him, Adam had vowed for one: not to get too close and attached and two: not to impose himself on her. He thought it would keep her close but alas, it did not.
Perhaps that was why their relationship had soured on Earth. Eve had tried to reconnect, to apologize for past wrongs, but Adam had remained distant. Unless it concerned their children or their survival, he kept their conversations brief and cold. It hurt her—he knew it did—but he was still healing himself. In the afterlife, they had finally found some semblance of peace.
Eve had come to realize that while she could apologize, Adam didn’t have to accept it. They had grown more like siblings than anything else, and Eve had eventually let go, allowing the ghosts of the past to rest. It was better that way. Adam was happier in his quiet solitude, away from the complexities of love and heartache.
"Well, it seems neither Sera nor Michael is coming today. I’m going to leave," Adam said, perhaps too hastily, as Lucifer’s brow furrowed in response. But Adam didn’t care. He needed to escape. He couldn’t bear being alone with Lucifer, not again.
It was easier when there were others around. Lucifer had never made Adam a priority, not even when it had mattered most. And though it had once broken his heart, now Adam preferred it that way.
Let Lucifer find his amusement elsewhere. Adam had no desire to be the devil’s focus anymore. He was content to be forgotten, a shadow in the background, with no friends, only a sister with whom he shared a lifetime of scars and regrets.
Adam turned sharply, making a beeline for the grand double doors at the far end of the hall. They gleamed under the celestial light, their golden surfaces shimmering like a beacon of salvation. His hand shot out, fingers wrapping around the ornate handles with determination.
"Aw, are you really going to leave me all alone in here?" Lucifer’s teasing voice echoed behind him, thick with amusement. He had propped his elbows on the gleaming red side of the table, his sharp claws cradling his face like an innocent cherub. That infuriating grin only grew wider, splitting his face like a jagged crack.
"I don’t want to spend another second with you," Adam snapped, his voice trembling with barely concealed frustration. He tugged on the door handles, expecting freedom—but the doors refused to budge. They didn’t even shudder beneath his grip.
Lucifer’s chuckle filled the empty hall like a sinister melody. "Having trouble there, Addie?"
"S-Shut up," Adam stammered, feeling heat creep up his neck as he pulled harder on the handles. Still, nothing. It was as if the doors had been fused shut. He yanked again, desperation settling like a weight in his chest, but they remained obstinately closed, not even allowing a crack of escape.
"Are you really that desperate to get away from me?" Lucifer purred; his voice laced with mock hurt. His eyes gleamed with devilish delight, that ever-flickering tail swishing languidly behind him like a contented cat. "Ouch, Addie, that cuts deep."
Adam’s frustration mounted, his face flushing a deep shade of crimson as he yanked again, harder this time, his knuckles white against the gleaming gold. He needed to get out—now. He couldn’t bear to be trapped here, alone with the devil. His heart pounded with a rising sense of panic. Anywhere but here. Anyone but him.
He’d have preferred Lilith’s cold indifference over Lucifer’s relentless torment, any day of the week!
"Shut up," Adam hissed sharply, teeth clenched as he yanked on the golden doors with all his might. "Why won’t it open?"
“It’s not going to open~” Lucifer sang sweetly—too sweetly, a devilish glint in his eyes. “I would know. I’ve been trying to get out of Hell’s doors for the past hour.”
Adam froze. His breath caught in his throat as he slowly turned around, eyes narrowing into venomous slits. "What did you just say?"
Lucifer hummed innocently, flashing a careless shrug. "We're trapped, Addie. Can’t even open a portal."
Adam's face drained of emotion as the horrifying truth settled over him. Trapped. With Lucifer. With fucking Lucifer? His blood ran cold as the words echoed in his mind.
"Why?" he demanded, exasperated.
Lucifer shrugged again, his expression one of carefree mischief. “Beats me. I got a message this morning saying the meeting had been brought forward an hour.”
Adam opened his mouth, then closed it, nostrils flaring as his gaze darted around the grand hall. His heart plummeted like a stone into his stomach as he took in the familiar yet unsettling decor. His pristine, snow-white wings folded tightly against his back, the faint gleam of gold beginning to shimmer between the feathers, a change Adam had yet to notice. Instinctively, he edged back, pressing himself against the double doors leading to Heaven.
His wide eyes landed on something that made his pulse race with horror. "Why is there a bed here?!" he squawked, voice high with panic. "How long are we going to be locked in here?"
Lucifer’s eyes sparkled with smug amusement as he turned toward the heart-shaped bed pushed to the side, complete with scattered rose petals and overly frilly pillows. He let out a sharp snicker, baring his sharp teeth in a wicked grin. "Come on now, Addie, you’re not that innocent. You fathered humanity, after all. Surely you recognize a honeymoon suite when you see one?"
“Honeymoon attire...?” Adam repeated slowly, his brain struggling to catch up. As the meaning dawned on him, his face scrunched into a deep frown. He inched farther away from Lucifer, backing away from both the devil and the offending bed. “Ha ha, real funny…”
Lucifer’s grin only grew as he slipped off his regal throne, his movements as smooth and fluid as a serpent.
“You know that expression you’re making is rather insulting,” he purred.
“Oh really?” Adam grumbled, rolling his eyes and folding his arms across the soft white fabric of his tunic. “I’m so sorry if I’m not eager to—well, you know.”
Lucifer’s eyes gleamed with playful malice, his lips twisting into an even wider smirk. He sauntered closer, arms folded behind his back, as he prowled toward Adam. "I don’t remember you being so naïve, Addie. Has Sera really been sheltering you all this time?"
“Shut up," Adam snapped, his voice low and strained. He began shuffling along the wall, putting more distance between himself and the devil. He had no desire to continue this conversation. "Do us both a favour and don’t speak to me. Especially not about… that stuff."
Lucifer’s eyes twinkled mischievously as he continued to follow Adam’s retreat, his gaze slithering over Adam’s form. The thin white tunic Sera had dressed him in did little to hide his bare, porcelain legs.
"You know, Addie, you’ve been so sheltered by Sera that you probably haven’t learned the pleasures life—or death—can offer." Lucifer’s voice dropped to a low, sultry whisper. "And from my extensive experience, I happen to be an excellent teacher~"
Adam’s face burned with embarrassment, his fingers tugging at the hem of the short tunic, desperate to cover his exposed skin. Ever since he and Eve had died, Sera had forced them into these stereotypical angelic outfits—pure white tunics, sandals, and golden straps twining around their legs like vines. Adam despised it. The shame of it all gnawed at him, especially how the tunic barely reached mid-thigh. He longed for something longer, something to hide beneath, but Sera had always reprimanded him whenever he tried to cover up with his wings. She wanted him to walk through the Ring of Humility daily, as a reminder of his sins, until Emily intervened and lessened his punishment to twice a week. Still, Adam couldn’t shake the discomfort.
With no Sera around to scold him, Adam instinctively spread his left wing over his legs, shielding himself from Lucifer’s leering gaze. "I don’t want or need any lessons in that area," he spat coldly. "Especially from the likes of you."
Lucifer feigned a dramatic gasp, pressing a hand to his chest. "Ouch, Addie~ Such harsh words. I’m a perfect teacher—just ask your ex-wives! I’m sure they’d vouch for my skills."
Adam stiffened, his stomach twisting in knots at the painful memories. His lips pressed into a thin line as his mind involuntarily returned to Eden, to that night when he had woken alone in the dark. He could still hear those strange, intimate sounds echoing through the trees. His heart clenched painfully as he remembered searching for Eve, only to stumble upon... that.
“I’m sure they can,” Adam muttered quietly, his voice heavy with old hurt. "I’m sure they never complained about whatever you did to them... or taught them."
Lucifer paused, the smugness fading from his eyes as he tilted his head and frowned, sensing the deep wounds behind Adam’s words.
Lucifer averted his gaze with a quiet, almost wistful sigh, the flick of his arrowed tail slowing as it drooped ever so slightly. The silence that settled between them was thick with years of unspoken words, a soft, uneasy tension hovering in the air like a delicate butterfly unsure of where to land. After what felt like an eternity, Lucifer’s golden eyes drifted back to Adam, no longer laced with teasing but with an unexpected gentleness.
"Adam," he murmured softly, his voice devoid of its usual playful edge, "do you truly find no joy in intimacy?" His gaze searched Adam’s face, tender and almost vulnerable. "Not even with Eve?"
Adam shrugged, his arms wrapping tightly around himself as if he could protect his heart from old wounds. "It was never pleasurable," he replied, the words falling heavy and flat between them. "If that’s what you’re asking."
Lucifer blinked, surprise flickering across his features. "But you fathered so many children…" he ventured, the words slipping out as if even he wasn’t sure of them.
Adam shot him a deep, tired glare. "That was never important to me. We only did it when Sera decreed it—when there was a child to be conceived."
Lucifer nodded, his expression softening with something Adam couldn’t quite decipher. There was a whisper on his lips, so quiet it barely touched the air. "We figured as much, but Eve only told us so much... No wonder what I taught her didn’t work as well as we thought…"
Adam arched an eyebrow, glancing at Lucifer with a hint of curiosity. He strained to catch the murmured words but could make no sense of them. Shaking it off, his gaze drifted again, this time alighting on the small lanterns hanging above the table. They hadn’t been there before, delicate and softly glowing, casting a warm, romantic light across the room.
His eyes wandered back to the heart-shaped bed. He tried to resist, but something within him—an ember of fascination he couldn’t quite douse—pulled him to look again. The rose petals scattered across the silky sheets were undeniably beautiful, and the frilly pillows and soft quilts, though gaudy, looked inviting. But it was the small, duck-like plush that sat nestled in the center of the bed that caught his attention. It stirred a memory—a simple, tender moment from long ago, when he and Lucifer had once sat together in Eden, watching the ducks glide serenely across the water.
Meanwhile, Lucifer’s gaze remained fixed on Adam, his expression laced with an unexpected tenderness. He watched the subtle play of emotions on Adam’s face with a pang of bittersweet regret tightening in his chest. How had things gone so terribly wrong? Everything they had once dreamed of—everything he and Lilith had meticulously planned—had unravelled the moment Adam turned his back and walked away.
~#~
It was a windswept day in Eden, the breeze weaving through the garden, carrying with it the faintest hint of change. The sky, usually an endless stretch of blue, was crowded with thick clouds, more than usual, their dark bellies casting shadows across the once-brilliant paradise. Pockets of sunlight were sprinkled here and there, dappling the ground in an unusual mosaic of light and dark.
Lucifer spread his magnificent wings—feathers dipped in shades of gold, blue, and purest white—and glided effortlessly through the shifting currents of air. His piercing blue eyes squinted as he searched for the one who had long held his heart—the first human, the first man. His pulse quickened with excitement, a thrill running through him. It had been so long since he’d last set foot in Eden. Sera had become suspicious, and her jealousy had tethered him, restricting his visits.
Gabriel, however, had finally relented, agreeing to distract Sera long enough for Lucifer to slip through unnoticed. But as he glided above the garden, searching for Adam, he stumbled upon a figure that momentarily stilled his wings.
Lilith. The second human. She sat beneath the sprawling orange tree, elbows perched on her knees, fingers drumming restlessly against her cheeks. Her icy-blue eyes were distant, unfocused, as if lost in a trance.
From the very beginning, Lucifer hadn’t liked her. When she had been born from the river of flowers, something within him bristled at her presence. Especially when he saw the way Adam gazed at her with new eyes. His wings had puffed up in the past, the urge to shield Adam from her pulling at him like an instinctual force. His thoughts had been possessive—he wanted to pull Adam away and hiss like a dragon protecting its hoard. Worse still, Michael had ordered Lilith to be made in his own image, knowing full well Lucifer’s affection for Adam. At least Michael hadn’t breathed a word to Sera of what he mockingly called Lucifer’s “crush.” Ridiculous.
Still, Lucifer hesitated in his search, perching himself high in the branches of the orange tree. His gaze softened with confusion as he observed her. Normally, Lilith clung to Adam’s side, and Lucifer would have to work to pry Adam away from her. But now, seeing her alone, something tugged at his curiosity. He half-expected Adam to come running up to her, his boyish wonder gleaming in his eyes, eager to show her some smooth stone he’d discovered in the brook. There had been a time when Adam brought those stones to Lucifer instead.
Lilith let out a dramatic sigh, a strand of golden hair falling across her forehead, which she promptly blew out of her face in frustration.
“What’s the matter?” Lucifer called down to her, his curiosity getting the better of him. “You seem troubled.”
Lilith stiffened at his voice, her body going rigid as she looked up, surprise flashing across her face. “Spying on me now?” she retorted, her voice sharp.
“No,” Lucifer huffed, flapping down from the tree to prove it, landing gracefully before her. He glanced around with an air of thoughtfulness. “Where’s Adam?”
Lilith rolled her eyes, rising to her feet with a sigh. She dusted off her long golden curls, allowing them to fall elegantly over her shoulders. “Worried I’ve stolen Adam away again?” she teased, her words edged with a bite, though it hardly fazed Lucifer.
“I wanted to ask you about that,” Lilith continued, her icy-blue eyes locking onto his with an intensity that unnerved him.
“About what?” Lucifer asked, already on the defensive.
“About your obsession with Adam,” Lilith pressed, her voice soft but probing.
“It’s not an obsession,” Lucifer snapped, his eyes flashing with irritation. “It’s—”
“Yes?” Lilith urged, her interest piqued.
He stared at her for a long moment, his frown deepening. “Why do you care?” he asked warily, trying to mask his discomfort.
Lilith hesitated, her gaze drifting to a patch of purple flowers nearby. She took a deep breath, a soft whimper escaping her lips. “I think... I think something is wrong with me.”
“Impossible,” Lucifer scoffed, puffing out his chest as he placed his hands on his hips. “You were crafted from the river of flowers itself, by my sisters, Sera and Uriel. There’s no way they made a mistake.”
Lilith narrowed her eyes, skepticism etched into every feature. “You angels are all the same,” she muttered. “So arrogant. You can’t even entertain the idea that you might have made a mistake.”
Lucifer’s wings ruffled indignantly. “Because we don’t make mistakes,” he replied firmly. “It’s simply not possible.”
“Really?” Lilith raised an eyebrow, her voice laced with sarcasm. “You don’t think my creation was a mistake? You certainly seem displeased whenever Adam chooses to spend time with me instead of going duck-watching with you.”
Lucifer opened his mouth to protest, but the words got caught in his throat. For a moment, he blinked at her, speechless. A quiet hum escaped him. Maybe the angels had made a mistake.
Lilith tilted her head slightly, a sly smile playing on her lips as she caught the flicker of doubt in his eyes. “That’s what I thought,” she whispered.
Lucifer rolled his eyes, waving his hand dismissively. “Fine. So maybe we do make mistakes sometimes. Adam never needed you when he had me,” he muttered under his breath. “But what makes you think there’s something wrong with you?”
Lilith stared at him, her gaze unwavering. For the first time, Lucifer felt a strange discomfort under her scrutiny. But then she shook her head, disappointment clouding her features. “Because... I feel nothing. Not even for you,” she said, her voice a soft, sad whisper. “And you are quite easy on the eyes.”
Lucifer blinked, momentarily thrown off by the unexpected compliment. “Er, thank you?” he mumbled.
“Don’t be,” Lilith snorted. “It’s not exactly a good thing.”
Now Lucifer felt properly insulted. He crossed his arms, huffing slightly. What was with this human? Why did she have to be so... strange?
“Lilith,” he said, trying to rein in his frustration, “what do you mean when you say something’s wrong with you?”
Lilith sighed, her shoulders slumping a little. “I was created to be Adam’s partner, right? His other half.”
“Yes,” Lucifer spat, a bitter edge creeping into his voice. “You are.”
“You don’t like that,” Lilith observed coolly, her lips curling into a faint smile. “You always make that face when you look at me. Adam doesn’t notice, but I do. Why is that, Lucifer? Why didn’t you stand up for him when I was brought into Eden?”
Lucifer’s eyes widened in surprise, and he took a step back. “Lilith, I don’t—”
“I’m asking you a question,” she interrupted softly, her tone oddly gentle. “What do you feel for Adam?”
Lucifer’s lips parted, but no words came. He stared at her for a moment, trying to make sense of the sudden shift in the conversation. “What do I feel... for Adam?”
“Yes,” Lilith nodded, her voice steady. “I need to understand the difference.”
“The difference?” Lucifer echoed, confusion flickering across his features. But then something trembled in his chest, a warm wave of emotion loosening his guard. He stepped forward, his gaze softening as he peered into her icy-blue eyes. “Lilith... do you not feel anything for Adam?”
For the first time, Lilith’s carefully maintained mask cracked. A flicker of sadness passed over her face, and her bottom lip quivered. “I’ve tried,” she whispered. “Honestly, I have. Adam is kind and gentle... so sweet to me. He always wants us to be together. But I feel nothing. I look at him, and there’s no spark. No fire. Just... nothing.”
Lucifer nodded slowly, understanding dawning on him. He felt a pang of sympathy for her. Adam’s innocence, his pure-hearted nature, was part of what made him so endearing, so precious. But that same purity could be lost on someone like Lilith.
“You care for him,” Lilith continued, a small, wistful smile tugging at her lips. “I can see that. But the way you care for him is different from how I feel. I think... I think I love him, but not in the way I was supposed to.”
Lucifer stiffened at her confession, jealousy flaring in his chest, but he forced himself to listen. He had never heard her speak like this before.
“I’ve known from the beginning,” Lilith admitted, her voice barely a whisper. “I’ve known how much you love Adam. I saw it in your eyes, even before I was brought to the garden.”
Lucifer exhaled, the tension slowly leaving his body. “Do you... love Adam like...” he began hesitantly.
“Like you love St. Gabriel,” Lilith finished for him, her smile growing a little more genuine as she watched the relief wash over his face. “Does that make you happy?”
Lucifer nodded thoughtfully. “It does,” he admitted. “But I still don’t like you.”
Lilith chuckled softly. “Perhaps in time, you will.”
The silence between them deepened, but it was no longer heavy with tension. It had shifted, softened into something more fragile, like a delicate thread between them that neither dared disturb. Lucifer gazed at Lilith anew, and for the first time, the smoldering hatred that had long clouded his heart began to dissipate. There was something else now, something lighter—curiosity, perhaps even understanding.
"Lilith," Lucifer began, his voice weary yet gentle, like a breath after a storm. "You don’t love Adam the way Heaven decreed. Is that why you think something inside you is broken? But it's not so terrible, really. If that’s the reason, we can tell Sera. Another husband can be made for you."
It was Heaven's fallback plan, devised in case Lilith and Adam didn’t bond. Sera, ever confident, had been so convinced the two would unite, praising the supposed harmony between them while peering through the divine orb. But Lucifer had felt only frustration. How could Sera believe that anyone could be a better match for Adam than himself?
Lilith shook her head firmly, her hair shifting with the motion, catching the light like strands of spun gold. "I don’t want another husband," she whispered. "I don’t want… a man."
Lucifer blinked in confusion, disbelief shadowing his face. "What?"
"I’ve tried," Lilith continued, her voice now soft as a sigh carried on the wind. "I’ve tried to look at Adam as Heaven taught me, but it feels… wrong. I’ve even tried to see you that way, but… there’s nothing. No spark, no fire. Only emptiness." Her gaze lingered on Lucifer for a moment before she chuckled, catching him instinctively pulling his robes tighter, as if to shield himself from her gaze, though he was already swathed in layers of white and blue. "And I realized… something is wrong because I find myself drawn to the sight of St. Uriel."
"Uriel?" Lucifer gasped, his voice rising with disbelief. "Out of all my siblings, Uriel?!"
Lilith finally allowed herself to laugh, a soft, melodic sound that filled the space between them. Her cheeks flushed with color, a rare and charming sight. "No, I don’t like Uriel in that way. I merely find her form… appealing. Just as I find Sera’s beautiful, though it is Uriel’s curves that catch my eye more often."
Lucifer furrowed his brow, a sudden thought flickering through his mind like an unwelcome intruder. Curves? Was Lilith… alluring to women as well? It was not a notion he had ever entertained.
"Sera is rather… what’s the word?" Lilith teased with a wicked glint in her eyes. "Flat. Whereas Uriel… well, she’s more… abundant. Like two watermelons.”
Lucifer's mouth gaped as he struggled to process her words. It was as if his mind had short-circuited, leaving him utterly speechless.
"Oh." He finally breathed out, as if understanding had dawned on him in a rush. "Oh. So that’s what you meant… You prefer the female form."
Lilith tilted her head, her expression curious and thoughtful. "Female form?"
"A woman’s body," Lucifer clarified, his voice halting, as though this was new territory for him. He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "You, the first woman, were carved in the likeness of Uriel and Sera. They were the only two female angels we had, so… I suppose they modeled you after themselves. And it seems… you are more captivated by a woman’s shape than by a man’s."
Lilith’s eyes grew hooded as she pondered this revelation, her fingers tapping gently at her chin. "It’s more than just liking a woman’s body, though. I feel no desire to kiss Adam, no urge to share his bed. My thoughts often drift to a woman’s touch, her form… again and again."
"Exactly," Lucifer said with an awkward nod, his wings shifting restlessly. He had never imagined he would be explaining this to her. "You’re simply drawn to women instead. It’s nothing wrong, Lilith. It just means you’d find more joy with a woman than with a man. There’s nothing defective about that."
For the first time since Lucifer had known her, a spark of hope lit Lilith’s eyes, and her face seemed to bloom with color and life. "Truly?" she asked, her voice almost trembling. "Does that mean… I am not flawed?"
"Of course not," Lucifer replied, his own gaze softening. He bit his lip in thought before adding, "I love Adam, you know that. I crave his presence, his touch. Everything you wish for with a woman, I desire with a man. If that makes you flawed, then it makes me flawed as well."
A small, radiant smile played at the corners of Lilith’s lips as she nodded, relief washing over her features. But soon, that smile faded into contemplation. "But there are no other women, Lucifer. I do not wish to be with Adam. I long to be with a woman… what should I do?"
Lucifer tilted his head, considering Lilith’s question. It was clear that she was troubled, not only by her own desires but by the limitations of Eden. He crossed his arms, frowning in thought, and his wings rustled behind him as he shifted.
“That’s… complicated,” Lucifer admitted. “In Eden, there were only ever meant to be two of you—Adam and you. Heaven didn’t plan for alternatives because Adam was supposed to be everything for you, and you for him.”
Lilith’s expression darkened, and Lucifer quickly continued, “But Heaven doesn’t know everything. You’ve already proven that. If you don’t want a man, there’s no reason to force yourself. I don’t think you’re defective, Lilith—just different.”
“But what does that mean for me?” Lilith asked, her voice edged with frustration. “If there are no other women, am I meant to stay alone forever? Am I broken because Heaven didn’t foresee this?”
Lucifer hesitated. It wasn’t easy to provide a solution, and yet, he felt for her. She was stuck in a world that hadn’t accounted for her existence, much less her desires. He paced for a moment, his wings twitching behind him, and then paused.
“Maybe it’s not about what Heaven planned,” Lucifer said slowly. “Maybe it’s about what you want to create. If you can’t find another woman here, then… maybe it’s time to make space for what you want. Challenge the plan.”
Lilith looked up at him, eyes bright with a mix of hope and confusion. “And how do I do that?”
Lucifer smiled, the edge of mischief creeping into his expression. “You already did it once—by being different, by recognizing what you truly want instead of what was laid out for you. So, what’s to stop you from doing it again?”
A slow, thoughtful smile spread across Lilith’s face as she considered his words. “Perhaps you’re right. Perhaps it’s time I stop waiting for someone else to tell me what’s right or wrong.”
Lucifer nodded. “Exactly. You were never defective, Lilith. You were just the first to realize that Heaven’s plan isn’t perfect.”
With a sudden spark of wickedness, Lilith's eyes gleamed as a mischievous grin spread across her lips. She lifted her chin, radiating determination, and stepped confidently toward Lucifer. "I have a plan."
Lucifer arched an eyebrow, intrigued but wary. "Oh? And what might that be?"
"You said it yourself—Sera would have created a new husband for me if I asked." Her tone was resolute, her mind clearly working through the details. The wheels of her thoughts were turning, and Lucifer couldn't help but feel captivated by the sight of her plotting. "So, why not have Heaven craft me a wife instead of a husband?"
Lucifer pressed his lips together, the idea unsettling him. "I... don't think Sera would allow that," he said carefully.
"Why not?" Lilith's voice was sharp, almost challenging.
"I don’t mean it badly!" Lucifer quickly raised his hands in defense, stepping back slightly. "Look, if anyone understands Heaven's absurd ways, it's me. I’ve been in love with Adam since the moment I was assigned as his guardian. But Michael… he disapproves. The first humans aren’t allowed to be with their own gender. Not yet, at least."
Lucifer's frustration was palpable. Maybe in the future, when the earth teemed with people, Heaven might relax its ridiculous rules. But for now, Heaven’s constraints—especially those set by Michael—were agonizingly strict. Lucifer itched to challenge his brother’s narrow views, yet he couldn't.
Lilith’s expression darkened further, her determination hardening into steel. "Then I will trick them," she declared. Her voice was cold, resolute. "And you will help me."
Lucifer grunted, crossing his arms tightly over his chest. "Oh, will I now?"
Lilith locked eyes with him, her gaze as unwavering as stone. "You will," she said, her voice rich with promise. "Because, in the end, you'll have Adam."
Lucifer’s posture softened immediately, his annoyance dissolving into a bright, eager smile. "Oh! Adam? Really? Well then, I’m in!"
Lilith blinked at the sudden change, but quickly shrugged it off. "Yes, exactly. At the end of this, you’ll have Adam, and I will have a woman."
Lucifer’s brows furrowed in thought. "And how exactly do you plan on making that happen?"
Lilith’s intense stare held his gaze, and slowly, realization dawned on him like a rising storm. He recoiled, shaking his head firmly. "No! No! I am not doing that!"
Lilith scoffed, her arms crossing tightly in front of her. "And why not?"
"Because!" Lucifer exclaimed, his voice thick with frustration. "It will hurt Adam, and the last thing I want is for him to hate me. I want him to love me, not despise me."
"We won't hurt him," Lilith assured him, though her tone was firm. "I adore Adam, too. I would never willingly cause him pain. But this is the only way to convince Heaven I’ve fallen for another man. Once they believe that, they’ll have no choice but to create a new wife for Adam."
Lucifer shook his head, his eyes full of worry. "Yes, but that would still hurt him! Choose someone else—anyone but me."
"It has to be you," Lilith said coldly. "You're an angel, and if Heaven sees an angel involved, they’ll be forced to create a new woman—not a man."
Lucifer knew she was right, but the thought of hurting Adam gnawed at him. He couldn’t bear it.
"Please, Lucifer," Lilith’s voice softened, and for the first time, there was a vulnerability in her eyes that Lucifer hadn’t seen before. "Please. After all is said and done, when we explain everything to Adam, he’ll understand."
Lucifer’s gaze dropped to the soft petals of the Eden flowers beneath them, their vibrant red hues reminding him of the carnations Adam had once excitedly pointed out to him. "I know he would understand," he whispered, his voice heavy with emotion. "Adam would forgive anything…"
"Then you’ll help me?" Lilith asked, her voice hopeful, almost pleading.
Lucifer swallowed thickly, a deep determination settling over him. "As long as we don’t hurt him too much." He hesitated, knowing the risks they faced. "We might be punished by Heaven for defying their grand design. They won’t take kindly to us seducing Adam’s new wife… or me doing the same with Adam. We could be cast out, banished from Eden."
Lilith nodded; her face resolute yet gentle. "I know. But no matter what happens, we’ll be together. Wherever we’re cast, Adam will come with us. I may not love him in the way Heaven desires, but I do love him. I won't let him suffer alone."
Lucifer exhaled deeply; the weight of their plan heavy in his chest. Deceiving Heaven, tricking Sera and Michael… it meant pretending to be with Lilith, pretending to push Adam away. The thought of hurting Adam, of ignoring him when he called out, was unbearable.
"It’s going to be hard," he said quietly, almost to himself. "Ignoring him…"
Lilith flinched at the thought, her voice soft but resolute. "I know."

Here’s a link to a blog post on my personal website on a topic that I think is very important.
I’ve also put it below the read more for people that don’t like external links. But if you're okay with it, checking it out on my personal website is really nice (and even giving it a heart if you can)! I don't make money from my website, so there are no intrusive ads or anything like that to stop you from reading the article.
Embracing Your Inner Child
This applies to anyone, but I really want to emphasize this to my fellow survivors who went through trauma as children and/or teenagers.
I’m so sorry you lost part, most or all of your childhood. That doesn’t mean it’s too late to give your inner child what you can. This includes comfort but it also includes doing the things you didn’t get to if you can.
Play the fun games. Buy the tasty treats. Go on adventures.
It’s never too late to feel a little more of the kind of joy you had (or should have had) as a child. You may not be able to be a child again, but you can still help and support your inner child.
You might have been told that a fun idea you had was “silly” or even “stupid.” When you have those thoughts now, instead of rejecting it, embrace the “silly” idea and let yourself enjoy it. It’s not shameful or wrong to do the things your inner child wants to do. It’s okay to be “immature” sometimes, even if you’re twenty years old. Or thirty. Or sixty. I just want to say that I don’t think any of this is immature, but I know that is a bias and judgement a lot of us might pass on ourselves.
A short, not at all complete list of things you might do for your inner child:
Watch childhood movies or tv shows (Did you watch “Blues Clues”, or “Pokemon”? Maybe “The Land Before Time”? There’s no reason you can’t still enjoy them.)
Listen to “silly” music, maybe singing along or dancing to it (for me, one favourite is “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King” from The Lion King. I know every word and have a dance party everytime it comes on my shuffle.)
Go to the park and use the swings (I don’t know why, but flying up just a few feet can make me forget all my “grown-up” worries)
Have a treat just because (maybe that big sundae your parents never let you have, or the chicken nuggets you haven’t had in a decade). Maybe you want to fulfil your childhood dream of having ice cream for breakfast!
Go to the toy store - maybe even get some stuffed animals or other toy items. (I just recently realized that I can fulfill my childhood dream of collecting certain toys that I never got to have when I was younger!)
Ride a roller coaster and scream your head off on the way down (I like to try to be in the very first car)
Make creative, crafty stuff - like a painting or drawing, or decorating a picture on construction paper with googly eyes and glitter or a clay model with a weirdly shaped head (even if the result looks like something you’d expect to see in a kindergarten class, or the process makes a mess that looks like a glitter bomb went off)
Another aspect of embracing your inner child is trying to give your inner child the person you needed when you were a child.
This might mean standing up for yourself when others try to put you down or take credit for things you’ve done, even (or especially) if no one else spoke up for you when you were a child.
It might mean offering comfort and compassion to yourself, and not being too hard on yourself when you make mistakes that you would have been insulted for as a child or don’t know something that “everyone learns as a child.” Maybe now you can teach yourself that accidents happen, and spilling a drink or breaking a plate is not the disaster and failure of character that you were told as a child.
It might mean being patient with yourself when something is harder to do than you feel like it should be (whether you actually aren’t able to do it as easily as others, or you have unrealistic expectations of its difficulty because of the expectations put on you as a child). There are lots of instructional videos out there to help you to gain basic cooking or cleaning skills. If you never really learned to read, there are programs to help you. If you weren’t allowed or able to learn to manage your emotions or relationships in healthy ways, there’s help out there for you. There is absolutely no shame in not learning any kind of skills you feel you “should” have learned as a child, and it is okay to learn them as an adult.
You may have had to grow up too fast. You may not have been allowed to do the fun things. You may have suffered trauma that shattered your childhood. I’m here to tell you that you still have an inner child, and embracing that inner child is good for you. Just because you’re an adult, at any age, doesn’t mean that you’re too old to have fun.
No one else gets to decide what’s right for you - you get to decide what you enjoy and what you want.
And it’s never too late to remember, indulge, listen to, and embrace your inner child. Let them be a part of how you choose to move forward. It’s time for us to realize that there is no one way to be an adult, and we get to decide what being an adult means to us. And if that means I want to rent a bouncy castle for my birthday, then that is my perfectly valid version of an adult birthday (a birthday which my inner child would be thrilled about, by the way).

Friede x reader (maybe spinel?)
Reader and spinel used to be rivals when they were younger but lost contact to only battle later on in life when reader is in the RVT and spine gets incredibly jealous to see reader and friede together.
(Srry if that was a bit confusing, I don't normal request stuff)
Friede x Reader who's Spinel's past rival | Headcannons
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just like any normal 10 year old who's going out on a journey, you had a rival.
Sure he was a bit chronically online, but that's okay, he still battled you to test eachother's strength.
After beating each gym, you'd battle - just like a regular rivalry would go - but unlike a regular rivalry, you slowly began to drift apart.
By the time you've gotten upto the elite 4, the two of you were barely on speaking terms. If anything, you considered him more as an annoying stranger that got in the way instead of a rival.
Fast forward, 10 years or so, you're 20+, a young adult.
Life has been treating you well. Sure, your goal to become a champion didn't work out as well as you wanted it to. But you succeeded in defeating two of four elite 4 members which was a win for you.
You also moved into a cosy home which had enough space for you and your 'mons to live in.
By this time, you've forgotten all about the blue haired rival that you once had.
Just as things couldn't be getting better- you began to date someone, Friede.
He was everything you wanted for in a man. Sure, he was rather forgetful at times, but he'd always make up for it in other ways, (usually getting you gifts or doing chores around your house that you procrastinated on).
After he began to travel around a lot more, your relationship became long distances, but he always promised that he'd come over the second he got to.
One day, he was complaining about how a girl on his ship was missing and you offered to help him search for her- you couldn't help but fear the worst, so many things could happen to a missing kid.
You helped him and his crew look around Artazon city, but when you checked the comments on Dot's post, you could immediately feel that something was off.
By the time you mentioned it- Dot found it out herself. It was one person behind the accounts.
When Liko was secure, you couldn't help but wonder who was behind it all.
She was missing her pendant too- but Friede did point out that Amethio would've attacked them, so it was someone else.
When you finally find out that Spinel was behind all of it- you were suprised. The soft curves on Spinel's face have sharpened a bit more, giving him more of a mature look, and despite everything, he looked more feminine than he ever did when he was younger.
By the time Friede had arrived, everything had died down and Spinel was nowhere to be seen and when you told Friede about Spinel and what has happened between the two of you, he made sure to keep a closer eye out on anyone from Spinel's team.
Spinel definitely felt a pang of jealousy when he saw his ex-rival being so close to someone. He couldn't help it but he did.
After seeing you with Friede, Spinel would definitely start doing more things to target Freide out of some weird jealousy he feels as a result of you two being rivals in the past.
A/N: Hope that this is okay ^^

Howzer’s whole body felt stiff, and he was sick of it.
Cham was on a comm call with a delegate from the senate, and things were not going well, but all Howzer could think about was getting back to the barracks and sinking into his bunk, tuning out the world and letting sleep take him. It was well past the time that he should usually have been let off duty, as had been the theme of the past few days.
He just wanted to sleep. He hadn’t slept properly in those few days, and he could feel how much it grieved his body. His eyes threatened to close, and he had to pinch himself in a spot between the pieces of his armour to refrain.
After what felt like hours, Cham finally finished the call, the blue hologram figure disappearing and engulfing the room in darkness. It seemed that Cham hadn’t realised how late it had got, but Howzer certainly had. He just remained quiet until he was dismissed. He didn’t have the energy to discuss anything right now, and he hadn’t been paying much attention to begin with. When he was let out of the building, the slight chill in the air was a welcome feeling, brushing against his skin and soothing some of the irritation he felt.
He wasn't irritated at Cham. In fact, he didn't know exactly what he was so irritated about at all. He knew that it was heightened by his lack of rest, but it didn't soothe it much to know that fact. He stretched his neck out as he walked, tipping it from one side and then the other, cringing when he heard a few pops. He'd never been so sore in his life.
His feet took him towards the barracks without much thought, the rest of his body complying for the knowledge of the semi-comfortable bunk that awaited his return.
Howzer loved Ryloth. He loved its climate, it's landscape, its people. Most of all, he loved this time of day; the sun about to lower beneath the horizon, the gentle breeze ruffling his hair, the way the trees swayed gently and made a noise akin to sighing. He loved the way the planet looked as it wound down for sleep.
He wished that he had more time in his life to appreciate it. He had hoped that it would come after the war, that there could be time spared among the peace, but now he found himself being stretched thin in new and foreign ways. He knew he wouldn't get the chance, maybe ever, and the realisation made his jaw grind.
He thought more about what you had said the other day by the lake, about a bill to give clones rights, potentially getting paid for their work, or having the ability to leave the Imperial army. For the first time, Howzer wondered what it would be like to not be a soldier. If he was in control of his own fate, what would he do?
He would stay on Ryloth, he didn't even have to consider anything else. Maybe he'd make up for lost time, travel the planet and explore, find every untouched corner and bask in the evening light without the weight of a galaxy at war on his shoulders. Maybe he'd have a stall at the market, maybe he'd have a family, and his kids would play in the street, kicking up water in the fountain while he watched with that certain kind of smile that he only saw on the faces of parents.
It was wishful thinking, and that's all it was.
Deep inside, he knew he'd never see the day where he was liberated. He clenched his hands into fists as the anger that had been being nurtured in him all day finally rose up to the surface.
It wasn't fair. He'd given so much to the Republic. He'd given his life, he'd lost men, he'd fought with his bare hands for the people that they were supposed to protect, and all the while, the Senators in their ivory towers were the ones who decided his future, his fate. It wasn't fair and he was tired. He was so tired.
Thinking about it only made his head ache. He supposed that was why nothing would ever change. If the clones were kept in a state where they couldn't afford to think about their place in the galaxy, then they could be forced to serve with very little pushback.
Howzer made it to the barracks, his journey having only having made him even more irritated than he had been when he left the senate bureau. He let out a sigh of frustration, trying to relax before he'd have to deal with the chaos of his brothers. He didn't want to snap at them for something that wasn't their fault.
As he strode towards the door, his attention was caught by the noise of a page turning, and he looked over to see you sat beneath your usual tree, a stylus in hand and working it against the page of your flimsibook. He stopped walking and watched you for a moment.
He hadn't seen you since taking you to the lake that day, and even though he was tired, he was now itching to talk to you again. He couldn't help but think that your company might calm his angered thoughts.
You hadn't noticed him yet, and he debated not bothering you, but he quickly lost that argument with himself when he saw you smile at something you'd written. It was so effortlessly charming that his feet started moving on their own, carrying him over to you. When your head lifted and saw him approaching, however, your smile instantly dropped and you slammed your book shut. Howzer halted, unable to stop the pang of hurt that arose in his chest.
“Sorry” he blurted out, “I didn't mean to disturb you”
He turned on his heel and began to walk away before you called his name.
“I'm sorry, I just wasn't expecting you” you said, beckoning him back, “did you need me for something?”
Howzer frowned. He wondered what could have made you think his relationship to you should be so transactional, that he would have to have a reason to talk to you besides wanting to.
“No” he shook his head, “I always see you out here though. What is it you're writing?”
“Uh…” you trailed off before you even began, looking down to your book and then back up to him, “it's… well, I— it's just…”
Howzer lifted a brow at the blush that spread over your lilac skin, “you don't have to tell me”
You looked relieved as soon as he said that, “sorry, it's just… private, I suppose”
“I get it” Howzer nodded, “Well I should—”
“Would you like to sit down?” you asked him, patting the spot beside you with a hopeful smile.
Howzer's heart did a small jump, and he walked back over to where you sat. You collected your robes up on one side, draping them over your knees, allowing him to sit close to you. He tried to hide his smile as he sat down, close enough that his shoulder brushed against yours.
He rested his head on the trunk of the tree as he sat back, his breath leaving him slowly as he felt the last rays of the sun hitting his skin and warming him.
“Everything alright?” you asked.
He hummed an affirmative, “just tired”
“I'm not surprised” you commented, “if you've only just got back”
“Yeah” Howzer breathed out, opening one eye to look at you, “how do you know when I usually get back? You been watching me?”
You laughed at the inquisitive edge to his voice, looking down to your lap as you shrugged, “I see you around, the pauldron makes you stand out”
Howzer smiled and closed his eye again. He could already feel his irritation being quelled. The sound of your laugh, the wry curl of your lips, and the twinkle in your eye taking his mind from his previous worries. Your presence distracted him so easily, so much that he hadn't even realised that he was falling asleep until you were waking him up again.
The sound of your voice calling for him brought him out a dream that he soon after forgot. You were stood above him, your expression a little worried, and he blinked a few times as he came back into consciousness fully.
“You should get to to bed”
“Right, yeah” he muttered, taking his head from the tree trunk.
You held your hands out, palms facing towards the sky that now twinkled with the suns of systems far away. He took them gently, letting you help pull him up from the floor, and once stood he looked down at your gentle smile with a fondness. You were close, almost chest to chest with him, and both of you were yet to let go of each other. Howzer skimmed his thumbs over your knuckles, and then stepped back, dropping your hands.
“Let me walk you back” he said quietly, then lifted his hand to cover his mouth as he yawned.
“I think I'll be walking you back today” you replied amusedly.
Howzer huffed a laugh, his eyes darting to the door of the barracks, “I'm only going over there”
“Well maybe I don't trust you not to fall asleep again before you get there”
When his eyes found yours again, he saw more seriousness written into your expression that he had anticipated. It twisted his stomach.
“I'm fine” he murmured, dragging his eyes away as he felt his cheeks heat with embarrassment.
“Mhm, sure”
He didn't want anyone worrying about him, and especially not you. You had bigger things to worry about, and the thought of you pitying him made him feel sick.
“Really, I'm alright” he insisted, trying to sound sincere.
You sighed, gazing up at him with a little tilt of your head.
“You needn't pretend, Howzer” you said softly, “we're friends, aren't we? I'd like you to be honest with me”
The admission of friendship made him wake up a bit more, his eyes brightening, back straightening him to his full height.
“I will be fine” he spoke honestly, a tired smile accompanying his words.
You offered him a smile in return with a slight shake of your head, “you promise?”
Howzer couldn't help the way his lips curled into a smirk. He held his hand up, all fingers curled into a fist but his fifth one, “pinky promise”
A grin spread across your face, lighting your eyes up as a delighted laugh bubbled up from your chest. You hooked your pinky with his, and Howzer had to bite back his own grin so he didn't look utterly ridiculous.
“Go on” you nodded your head over to the door, “go and rest”
“Yes ma'am” he muttered in a mockingly irritated tone.
Truthfully, your actions were tugging at something deep within him, each word pulling his chest taut. You actually cared about whether or not he was okay, and while it wasn't a grand display of affection, it was more than Howzer had received from another person.
You chuckled slightly, “Goodnight. Captain”
Howzer was wholly unprepared for your next act, and he almost let his knees fold and send him tumbling to the floor when you raised to your toes and planted a soft kiss to his cheek. The shock was evident on his face, and he knew his short breath betrayed him when you rocked back onto your heels and smirked at how flustered he was.
He had never been this affected by the actions of another another person like this. Frankly, he wanted to wipe that smirk right off of your face. In fact, all he could think at that moment was how he wanted to have you unable to even form words, at his mercy so the only sound able to pass your lips was his name. Howzer immediately scolded himself for the flurry of thoughts, all birthed from a simple kiss on the cheek. Maker, he needed to reel it back.
“Goodnight” he breathed out.
You tipped your head to him slightly, and then you were gone.
He watched your figure recede, and let his eyes roam down the back of your robe, a deep green dress that held tight to your torso and hung down past the belt at your hips. You turned to look over your shoulder, and gave him another smirk when you caught him staring.
It was then that he heard whispering coming from behind him, and his head whipped around to spot the culprits. As misfortune would have it, the two most meddlesome troopers under his command were stood in the doorway to the barracks, hissing and elbowing the other to be quiet. Howzer sighed. This wasn't going to be an easy conversation to navigate.
He strode over to the pair of them, and they straightened on instinct, though both of them had an expression that betrayed their intrigue.
“Go on, say what you're going to say” Howzer crossed his arms over his chest, struggling not to laugh himself as the two younger clones glanced to each other.
“Are you two screwi—? OW!” Oscar's prying was cut of by a swift kick to the shin by his brother.
“Sorry sir, we were only interested in knowing your relationship to the lady” Teddy explained less crudely, and a small chuckle left Howzer's lips.
They were quite the pair, and against his better judgement, they were among his favourite brothers. Oscar had a permanent case of head stuck in the gutter, but Teddy was always there to put him in his place, the more sensible of the two. Really, they were two sides of the same coin, both of them every bit as nosey as the other.
“She's a friend, not that it's any of your business” Howzer asserted, pushing past them to enter into the barracks.
“Told you” Oscar barked a laugh, causing Howzer to raise an eyebrow at him.
He turned to Teddy, “what exactly did he tell you?”
“He said that a clone like you wouldn't be able to handle a woman that ‘fine’” Teddy spoke candidly, a grin on his face at getting to rat out his brother.
“Oh, and you could?” Howzer asked the first clone, who admittedly looked a little apologetic until he got the chance to show off his practiced act of bravado.
“Absolutely” Oscar smirked broadly, his hands resting on the back of his head as he leaned back into the wall, “when she's tired of you, send her over to me and I'll show her a good time”
“Please” Teddy rolled his eyes, “you wouldn't know a good time if it socked you in the face”
“Shows what you know” Oscar prodded his brother in the stomach, “being socked in the face isn't a good time”
Howzer knew Oscar was all talk. He had seen his many attempts of hitting on women in their infrequent trips to the bar, and it was some pretty poor work, all clichés and boasting. It was lucky he was good with a Z-6 rotary, because off the battlefield he was sorely lacking. Teddy was a little more of a sensitive soul in comparison to his batchmate, weary of treading on other people's toes — Oscar being the exception.
“That's not—” Teddy sighed, “maker, you're stupid”
“Only as stupid as you, brother”
Oscar let them continue their good natured bickering, laying down on his bunk and letting out a deep sigh. It wasn't the most comfortable thing in the galaxy, but Howzer was thankful for it in that moment.
His thoughts quickly dwelled on you. It was almost alarming, how quick his mind travelled there when given the freedom to think about anything. As he unclipped the pieces of his armour and slid beneath the sheet of his bunk, the only thing on his mind was your smirk. That maddening expression had its claws in him, tempting him in a way that he desperately tried not to acknowledge. You had just called him your friend, and you were far above him in the grand scheme of things, he couldn't afford to think like that.
Despite that, the expression burned into his brain, taunting him, begging him to give in, and his brain conjured up lewd images without his permission. He pushed them away, but they still lingered despite his attempts.
Howzer gulped. He was in big trouble.

The next few evenings were among the most relaxing times that Howzer had experienced since the end of the war, however ironic that seemed to him.
He sat with you under the tree, and at first neither of you would speak all that much. You sat opposite him, facing him so that he couldn’t see what you were writing in your flimsibook, only looking up to him periodically. Howzer took that same time to rest, and then as the evening turned to night, the comfortable silence turned to pleasant conversation.
You asked about his opinion on a number of matters, and he was embarrassed to admit to you that many of them were things he had never considered before. You didn't treat him as deficient for it, though, instead you helped him form his opinions in asking more questions.
You were very intelligent, that much was obvious to Howzer now. You seemed to have a vast base of knowledge, and you had a certain way with words that told him you were educated, but it was a lot more than that. You were empathetic, which he felt was a better scale for measuring intelligence, especially after the senate discussions he had listened to over the last few weeks.
None of those senatorial representatives had a single kind bone in their body, and their views seemed plainly misguided and frankly stupid for it. You were the antithesis, and that was probably why he was so drawn to you from the beginning.
It was getting harder to pretend that you had no effect on him, and it seemed like you knew that, that you were trying to make it harder. In every conversation, you seemed more flirty than in the one before, and Howzer was beginning to think he wasn’t imagining it. He couldn't return the advances. He was deathly afraid of reading the situation wrong, and he wouldn't lose the comfort of your friendship just because he got a bit ahead of himself.
When he arrived at the tree one day after being let off duty, and you weren't there, he was more than a little confused. You had been there everyday since arriving on the planet, and for a moment he was stricken with a nasty feeling that something was wrong. He waited beneath the tree for a little while, but it was quickly becoming apparent that you just weren't going to be joining him today.
He thought about where you could possibly be, and it crossed his mind that you may just be at your residence. In spite of the thought, he found his feet carrying him out of the city.
The sun was blinding, just beginning to make it's descent below the horizon and lighting the pathway between the trees of the forest as if directing him to the correct place. This walk had always calmed him, so even if you weren't waiting at the end of it, it wouldn't be in vain.
As he approached the lake, he saw the way your robe was laid out on the floor, as if it had been discarded, and at first his heart jumped to his throat. A few more of your belongings were there, your flimsibook and stylus, jewellery and boots. Luckily, before he could get too worried about what might have happened to you, he heard his name called.
His gaze whipped over to the voice, and his eyes laid upon you, treading water in the shaded part of the lake. He could feel the way his heart jumped, beating faster in his chest at the sight.
“What are you doing?” he asked, stepping towards the edge of the lake.
“Taking a dip” you said simply, “you want to join?”
Howzer paused, giving you a somewhat exasperated look, “I really shouldn't”
“Why not?”
Howzer knew why he shouldn't. It was grossly inappropriate, even being friends with a senate official and spending time with them off duty was most likely frowned upon. This felt different though.
“Well, I, uh— I don't have the right… attire” he tried to reason.
“Neither do I” you shrugged.
Howzer’s mind was reeling. He was trying desperately to keep his thoughts in check, but that taunting smirk was decorating your face, and it was probably his greatest weakness.
“Come on Captain, live dangerously” you called over to him, your voice particularly coquettish.
He watched you carefully, trying to find any indication of your intentions in the way you looked at him. It was strange, you were still so hard to read, but he felt like he could see right through you at the same time. You were toying with him in some way, but he couldn't tell why.
His fingers took the lead, and started unclipping his armour with your eyes following his movements, watching as every piece slid from his body. By the time he was peeling back his blacks, revealing tanned skin that very few people had seen before, he couldn't help but think that the way you were drinking him in was far from innocent. It sent a thrill through him, but he was still weary of his thoughts betraying him.
When he'd stripped down to just his underwear, he waded into the water tentatively. It wasn't freezing, but it certainly wasn't warm, and he couldn't stop the way he shivered. As the bottom of the lake fell away, he swam over, joining you in the shade.
Seeing you up close was electrifying. Maybe it was that he hadn't ever seen you without all of the usual opulence of your senatorial garb, or maybe it was the fact that you were only wearing your underwear, but he relished in seeing this different side to you. You were beautiful, and usually it was acknowledged alongside your prestige, but now it was in spite of the absence.
With any identifying items stripped from you, you were just a person, as he was. Suddenly you didn't seem as terrifying, your gentle smile inviting and natural, and Howzer could feel himself becoming even more entranced by you.
“What brought you here today?” you asked.
“I, uh—” Howzer was having trouble focusing, but he realised that he came looking for you, and something about your expression told him you might know that, “you weren't under the tree, I just wondered where you were”
“Why's that?” you tilted your head to the side a little, feigning innocence.
Howzer bit the inside of his cheek as he watched you for a moment. He wouldn't ordinarily speak the truth, but everything about the situation was clouding his mind.
“I like spending time with you” he said honestly, and your eyebrows raised, “is that a surprise?”
“Not exactly” you spoke thoughtfully, “I just didn't expect you to say so”
“Why’s that” he mocked the tone of your voice, which drew a laugh from you that made his smile grow.
“Well, you're usually very restrained”
Howzer raised a brow, shifting marginally closer to you, “restrained?”
You bit the corner of your lip a little, “guarded, then”
“Hm” Howzer hummed, narrowing his eyes, “well… I am a soldier”
You smirked, “that you are”
Howzer cocked his head to the side, as if to ask what was going on in your mind. He felt that he knew you better now, but you were still such an enigma to him. For all that you were calling him guarded, he could only think of a handful of times where you had completely relaxed around him, and spoke in a way that was discernibly candid.
Before he could ask what you meant, you swam closer to him, a lot closer to him.
“How did you get these?” your tone was softer as you reached out and touched the scar on his chin, and then the one on his cheek, rubbing your thumb across it gently.
Howzer could feel the heat of your body through the water with you being so close to him, and the feel of you caressing his face was just too much to deal with. He couldn't speak, and when you looked into his eyes he had to gulp down the saliva that was pooling in his mouth.
“Explosion” he managed to get out, “shrapnel. There— there was a kid, I—’
He found his words stuck in his throat, your gaze and your touch holding them captive as he became absolutely mesmerised.
“You… what?” you prompted, snapping him from his trance.
“I was protecting the kid… from the blast”
The edges of your lips lifted, your eyes crinkling a little, “that's very honourable, soldier”
The word sounded undeniably affectionate, like a nickname of sorts. You took your hand away from his cheek and swam backwards slightly, and Howzer let out a breath that he hadn't realised he was holding in.
“It's just what any clone would have done” he reasoned, his tone a little flippant as he denied your claim.
“Hm” your gaze was scrutinising as you thinned your eyes at him, “I think you're just being modest”
Howzer chuckled, a slightly nervous sound that didn't suit him, “I don't feel very modest right now”
He had said it quietly, more to himself than anything, but you laughed anyway.
“I can look away, if you want?” you teased, and his cheeks heated as he rolled his eyes, forcing his gaze away. “I'll spare you” you grinned, swimming away towards your discarded clothes.
Howzer tried desperately to pull his eyes away from you as you emerged from the lake, but with the way the water was sliding from your skin, crystal droplets that twinkled in the sun as they followed the contours of your body, he simply couldn't.
Suddenly he was struck by how inappropriate this was. He shouldn't be seeing you like this. If anyone found the two of you like this, unclothed and having been so close to each other — whatever the context — he couldn't be sure what would happen to him.
It was forbidden for clones to form relationships, to give themselves to someone other than the Empire, and the Republic before that. You knew this, Howzer knew you did, you must have. You had campaigned for clone rights within the senate, there was no way you didn't know that it was prohibited to get close to him in that way.
Suddenly nothing made sense anymore.
Either you had never been flirting with him in the first place, which was admittedly fine if not a blow to his pride, or you were a whole lot crueller than he had realised. He didn't truly believe that you were capable of a cruelty such as that. He knew you to be kind, he knew you to be caring, far more caring than any Senator he'd ever met. Though, at the end of the day, you were still a politician. Perhaps it didn't matter that you seemed to be concerned with things such as clone rights or the other changes you sought to make to the Senate, perhaps you were still as removed from the general public that you sought your own desires above everything else.
The idea of that being him, however it had excited him previously, now filled him with disgust.
He dragged himself from the lake, quickly dressing in silence, even as the water made his blacks stick to him uncomfortably. He didn't look over at you, some form of animosity washing over him that he tried to brush away. It felt uncomfortable, he didn't want to feel this way about you. It didn't feel right, it was incongruent with how he truly felt, but that was what made everything so confusing.
“Is everything alright?”
He glanced over to you, your expression conveying concern as you did up the final buttons of your robe. Howzer forced his eyes away as he slipped his pauldron into place, “fine”
The word sounded bitter, and he cringed at the harshness of his tone.
“Are you sure?” you asked, your hand laying on his forearm and stopping his movements.
He looked back up, and the compassion in your eyes only sought to make his head spin with conflicting thoughts.
“You shouldn't have done that” the words fell from his mouth without permission, and the way you receded from him, your expression wounded, he raced to add, “I shouldn't have”
Your brows drew together slightly, “done what?”
An enervated noise escaped him, not really willing to admit his feelings for you, especially if he had entirely misread the situation.
“We can't be… close. It's against the rules, against my… code” he mumbled out, his words not sounding as definitive and confident as he wished.
“Oh” your face fell even further, “right, of course. I apologise”
Howzer’s heart lurched at your hurt expression, knowing that he was the one who had caused it. He watched you gather your things, slipping your jewellery back on and with it your authoritative demeanour and stony politician’s mask, and his heart clenched tighter in his chest. You grabbed your flimsibook and stylus, and before he could speak up again to explain himself, you had given him a curt nod and were walking away.
His hand stretched out as if to grab you and stop your leaving, but you were much too far away for that now. He felt a fool, reaching for something that could never be, and a painful sight of his own making.
Tumblr media
The next day was difficult, for everyone.
The dispute between Cham, man of the people, and Senator Taa, decidedly the opposite, had reached its climax. It was at the stage of all out disagreement and discussion had given way to argument. There were raised voices, pointing fingers, flaring nostrils, and it was bordering on name calling. Howzer didn't know how to cope with it.
He was inclined to step in and hold both parties back, even if they were at opposite ends of the large wooden table, but he knew that was well beyond his jurisdiction. Everyone else had joined in, not as outwardly outraged as Cham or as vehement as Ora Free Taa, but more animated nonetheless.
Everyone, except you.
Howzer watched the way your teeth ground together, eyes cold and darting around at the other delegates, and he could tell you were far angrier than he'd ever seen you. He wanted to reach out and offer some kind of support, a natural instinct, but he couldn't do anything of the sort, and besides, you would scarcely look at him.
It hurt, as much as it was necessary.
He knew that he had done the right thing, ending whatever there was between you before it began, and for that, he was proud of his restraint, but with the way you turned your gaze from him at every juncture, it certainly didn't feel like it.
So he watched on, his stomach twisted in guilt and his heart reaching out for you despite it all.
Your lip twitched as one of the other senate officials said something so morally reprehensible about the people of Ryloth and how they were viewed by the new Imperial senate, that Howzer actually let out a tiny gasp. Another official backed them up, and soon almost everyone was giving their two credits, the tone of conversation turning more and more sinister as it was being allowed to breed in the hateful speech that was being spewed.
“Stop!” you suddenly shouted above the racket, leaping up from your seat, a fist clenched and slamming into the table.
The room fell silent, and you breathed heavily for a moment before you spoke up again, your tone vicious and scathing.
“I cannot sit by and listen to this hateful drivel any longer. Ryloth deserves better than this, our people deserve more than all of you as their leaders. Do none of you have hearts? Can you not see that acting this way, choosing to go through with these plans, will only drive our planet further towards poverty, towards insecurity and scarcity, is that really what you want for our people?”
Howzer could feel his heart beating out of his chest. Your sudden display of passion and empathy for your people made his knees feel weak, threatening to bring him to the ground. You commanded the room, all eyes turned to you and hanging on every word. He knew that you cared more than the average Senator, but seeing you showcase it made his admiration grow once more.
“Aren't you just an aide? Why should we listen to you?” one of the other Twi'lek's asked, and you released a humourless laugh that sent a shiver running down Howzer's spine.
“I am a senate representative, sir. Do you know what that means?” you asked facetiously, and Howzer's eyebrow raised, an impressed smirk playing on his lips, “I am above you, and you will listen to me when I tell you that your way of thinking will be the downfall of our people. It's people like you that make me—”
“Stand down representative” the firm voice of Orn Free Taa called, and your head twinged to the side to send him a sharp look.
“Senator, surely we can't allow—”
“We will allow nothing, only I can and will decide what action to take. You have no power here, you're nothing, not while I am around” he spoke fiercely, and you backed down immediately, like a wounded animal at the mercy of its predator.
It was hard to watch, the way you sunk into your chair after being scolded, belittled in front of everyone. Your posture was slumped, your face turned downwards and an embarrassed blush scorching your cheeks. Your eyes snapped up for a moment, just enough to catch Howzer's sympathetic gaze and then to tear them away again.
The session was concluded shortly after, the setting sun quelling any arguments as everyone wished to leave the tense environment and get back to their homes for some peace. As soon as you were dismissed, you sped right past Howzer, storming from the room with a deep frown that made his worry for you grow.
He ran after you once everyone else had filed from the room, speeding through the bureau halls and bursting out into the courtyard. You were halfway across it by the time he caught up to you, calling your name even though it didn't make you slow your hurried pace.
Howzer gently grabbed your wrist, tugging on it inadvertently when you didn't immediately stop. You swivelled around, a thoroughly displeased expression contorting your features. His words failed him, not knowing how to comfort you in that moment.
“I'm so sorry” he said earnestly, “he shouldn't get to treat you like that. You're not nothing, don't let his words hurt you”
“I don't care about that” you scoffed, “it's his actions that hurt me, and the way that none of them actually seem to care about what happens to this planet”
“I know, I know” Howzer nodded, his tone soothing as his thumb brushed over your pulse point, “I'm sorry they won't listen to you”
Your eyes dropped to where his hand still enveloped your wrist, bringing your other hand to cover it for a moment, before you removed yourself from his grip.
“Thank you, then” you gave him a tight smile, and as much as it was strained, he could tell it was genuine.
“Can I walk you back?” he asked quietly, locking eyes with you and finding a reluctant tenderness.
“No” you replied curtly, swallowing anymore words that could have found their way past your lips, “goodnight Captain”
For the second day in a row, Howzer watched you walking away from him, your feet carrying you with the same grace despite your more hurried steps. He felt awful that he had thought so lowly of you the previous day, that he had even entertained the idea that you were as selfish and self-important as the other politicians.
He decided then, stood in the middle of the square, that he hated the sight of you leaving him, and that thought would continue to fester uncomfortably within him for the foreseeable future.

WaterLilly Part 7
Enemies To Lovers
Robb Stark x Frey Reader (F)
A/N: hey guys, it’s been forever since i’ve posted bjt here i am, on a random wednesday night. I left it on a cliffhanger and disappeared i do apologise my loves but hopefully i can write some more chapters and wrap this lovely story up!
(thought lana del rey’s song fitted in this bcs it’s december 18)
——————————————————————————
Months had passed since the loss of the child, and the camp had moved on as war always demanded. But for you, the world still felt muted, shadowed by the grief you carried. In those early days, you had lashed out at Robb in your sorrow, your anger boiling over in the face of his perceived indifference (and even thrown books and other objects at him, you did have to be manhandled away by some guards from the breakdown). Yet anyways the words had been harsh, cutting deep, and though he had said little in return, the tension between you both had grown like a wall.
Now, though, there was a sense of change in the air. The camp was quieter, the ever-looming threat of battle briefly held at bay. And, perhaps most notably, Talisa was gone. Robb had sent her away with a satchel of coin and a terse farewell. No one spoke of her departure openly, though the rumors whispered that it was his mother’s final insistence that had tipped the balance.
You hadn’t mentioned Talisa since her absence became apparent, though you felt a strange mix of relief and uncertainty about it. It wasn’t a victory not in the way one might think. But it felt like a shift, and for that, you were cautiously grateful.
It was late one evening when Robb approached you near the fire pit, his expression hesitant but resolved. You were sitting alone, tending to a small piece of embroidery a simple habit you’d picked up to keep your hands busy. He stood there for a moment, silent, before clearing his throat.
“I thought I might find you here,” he said quietly.
You glanced up, the flickering firelight casting warm shadows on his face. “I don’t stray far,” you replied simply, your voice calm but guarded.
Robb shifted on his feet, as if unsure how to continue. “I wanted to… speak to you,” he said finally, sitting down on the log across from you. His blue-gray eyes met yours, and for the first time in months, there was no tension in his gaze only a quiet sort of sincerity.
You set your embroidery aside, folding your hands in your lap. “I’m listening,” you said, your tone measured.
He hesitated, running a hand through his hair before letting out a small sigh. “I owe you an apology,” he began. “For everything. For how I’ve treated you, for how distant I’ve been… for Talisa.” The last word came out softly, almost reluctantly, but there was no malice in it, only acknowledgment.
You blinked, surprised by his candor, but you kept your expression neutral. “You sent her away,” you said, more a statement than a question.
Robb nodded, his gaze dropping to the ground. “It was the right thing to do. For her… and for us.”
You tilted your head slightly, studying him. “And what do you mean by ‘us,’ Robb?”
His eyes flicked back up to meet yours, and there was a vulnerability in them that you hadn’t seen before. “I mean that I’ve done nothing to make this marriage work. I’ve failed you as a husband, as a partner. But I’d like to try… if you’ll let me.”
The fire crackled between you, filling the silence as his words hung in the air. You looked down at your hands, considering his offer. Slowly, you nodded.
“I won’t pretend it’s been easy,” you said softly. “But… I’m willing to try. We’ve both lost so much, Robb. Maybe it’s time we stop fighting each other and start fighting for something together.”
A faint smile touched his lips, small but genuine. “I think I’d like that.”
In the days that followed, your relationship with Robb began to shift, though the change was gradual. It started with simple gestures: shared meals, quiet conversations by the fire, fleeting glances that carried less animosity and more curiosity.
One evening, as you walked through the camp together, Robb surprised you by asking about the embroidery you carried. “What are you working on this time?” he asked, his tone light but genuinely interested.
You glanced at him, holding up the fabric. “It’s a wolf,” you said, a hint of amusement in your voice. “I thought it fitting.”
Robb chuckled softly, his gaze lingering on the design. “A direwolf for a Stark,” he mused. “It suits you.”
You raised an eyebrow. “I think I’d prefer a phoenix,” you teased. “Something that rises from the ashes.”
He stopped walking, turning to face you fully. There was a glimmer of admiration in his eyes. “A phoenix, then,” he said, his voice quiet but firm. “It suits you better than any wolf.”
You felt warmth rise to your cheeks, but you quickly turned away, hiding your smile as you continued walking.
It wasn’t perfect. There were still moments of awkwardness, of lingering hurts that couldn’t be ignored. But step by step, you and Robb were finding your way. And for the first time, you felt hope.

Blue Skies and Second Chances
Tumblr media
The Outer Banks were quiet that afternoon, the sun sinking low on the horizon, casting a golden glow across the water. Y/N stood on the edge of the Cameron dock, her toes barely brushing the edge as she stared at the endless expanse of blue. The gentle lapping of waves was the only sound, until Rafe’s unmistakable voice broke the peace.
“You’re always out here,” he said, his tone softer than usual, lacking its usual bravado.
Y/N turned slightly, catching sight of him leaning against a nearby post, his hands shoved into his pockets. He looked different today—less like the boy who always seemed to have the world on his shoulders and more like someone searching for a piece of calm.
“Maybe it’s because it’s the one place I can actually think,” she replied, her lips quirking up in a teasing smile. “Why are you here? Thought you’d be off doing… whatever it is you do.”
Rafe hesitated before stepping closer. “Maybe I wanted to think too.”
Y/N raised an eyebrow. “Rafe Cameron, thinking? That’s a first.”
He laughed quietly, a genuine sound she hadn’t heard from him in ages. “Funny,” he said, though there wasn’t any bite in his voice. “I’ve been… I don’t know, trying to figure things out. And you—being here—it helps.”
Y/N frowned slightly, turning fully to face him. “What are you figuring out?”
Rafe’s gaze flicked to hers, a mixture of vulnerability and determination she hadn’t expected. “That I don’t want to be the guy people think I am anymore. I’ve screwed up, Y/N. More times than I can count. But… you never treated me like I was some lost cause.”
She swallowed, caught off guard by the raw honesty in his words. “That’s because I don’t think you are.”
His lips twitched into a small smile, and he took another step closer. “You’re different, Y/N. You make me want to be better.”
For a moment, the air between them was heavy with unspoken words, until Rafe took her hand gently in his. “I know I don’t deserve you,” he murmured, his voice barely audible over the sound of the waves. “But if you’d give me a chance, I’d do whatever it takes to prove I’m not the guy I used to be.”
Y/N’s chest tightened at the sincerity in his voice. She’d always seen glimpses of this Rafe—the one who wasn’t weighed down by expectations or anger. Maybe, just maybe, he could become the man she believed he could be.
“I don’t need you to be perfect, Rafe,” she said softly, squeezing his hand. “I just need you to try.”
His smile widened, brighter than the sun reflecting off the water. “I can do that.”
As the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky with streaks of pink and orange, Y/N let herself believe in the possibility of second chances. And in Rafe’s hand, she felt the promise of something new—something real.

"Wylan and Kaz would have becoming each other" controversy, opening.
"Should we been doing this?"
"Controversy" just to make it more dramatic cause it´s not really a big deal.
I want to thank everyone who responded to the post
It got more responses that i expected, some of you put way better explained arguments that i could have said, and i think we are all actually on the same chanel. So, instead of a long argument that just will repeat what everyone said i will include pieces of the essays and divide the huge deal for parts cause i think it´s a bigger study than we think. This is just the opening so it´s going to be a short one.
like the title said, the very first section will be "should we be doing this" so i´ll add this sample of @savethegrishaverse, who had a bigger response, i will probably use the rest of the argument in later sections:
Tumblr media
To me, Kaz & Wylan aren´t that similar, to me there´s a diference between kid!Wylan and kid!Kaz, but thats a story for another section. The important here is that the narrative wants us to see the similarities.
Cause sure, you can always compare two characters, it´s a harmless practice. The question here is, is it deliberate? or did people took the dynamic out of a fandom sentiment?
To me, yes , it´s pretty much deliberate. And my response may be a bit shallow but stay with me here: The desing choices
For those who don't know, in book canon Kaz has dark hair and brown eyes. Wylan has blue eyes and light red-gold curly hair. This is because it may be confusing to people that only know Jack!Wolfe´s Wylan for this argument, since he was hired out of talent instead of a comparision to his features with Freddy Carter´s
Now what i mean? Both Kaz and Wyan are from Kerch but their features are opposite. Kaz has dark eyes (with some warmt, but thats another subject) Wylan has bright blue eyes, Kaz has dark straight hair, Wylan has blonde curls, Kaz is all edges, Wyan has round features.
This may be just to separate the phenotype of the high born kerch from the Ketterdam outsiders, but to me it´s clear that regardless, Wylan is described to be the opposite of him (Kaz is most likely the first Soc character conceived)
Now, does this mean they are mirrors or that they would have become each other? Not exactly, the next sections with treat that so we could say it for sure. The reason i don't want to make the conclusion quite yet is
-Like i said, the desing may be just to stablish the diferences between Kerch´s sites
-To me , Wylan´s mirror (maybe not "who he would have become" but this perfect parallel) it´s probably Jesper. Not sure about Kaz, it may be Nikolai or Inej but not sure yet
-The soc characters are so tridimensional and rich in characterization that many of their traits can be used for a study. The point is if the Wyan-Kaz parallel is just some traits or their whole character.
So, was this for nothing? No, cause we can't say the conception of Wylan-Kaz becoming each other comes out of nowhere, there is some narrative choices that invites the reader to compare them and hey, maybe as we go, the conclusion may actually be that the theory is right. And if its not, why not.
I actually HAVE a reason on why not, but i do want to put everything on the table

i saw ur post asking for blue lock requests! what about fake dating with shidou? 💕
What Could Be
↬fake dating Shidou
chapter 1 – chapter 2 – chapter 3 – [...]
Thank you for giving me a prompt ! I hope this satisfies u ! This is my first time actually writing for Shidou so prayin this isn’t ooc… And mainly i hope that you're okay with a series instead of a one shot...
This will be a multiple chapter story !! And i will post them whenever they are ready !! So please enjoy chapter one as i air my first "chapter" writing !! Yayyy 😎 Shidou x fem!manager!reader. Fake dating. 700w.
Chapter 1, Any Other Name
[no warnings]
It’s the first of the month and as every first of the month you receive your paycheck. It was your fourth one, meaning it had been four months since you started working at blue lock. You wish you could say you were a manager there, but your paycheck said otherwise. Assistant to auxiliary tasks. Yeah, that has a lesser of a ring to it. But still, you enjoyed your job, maybe because you got to be around cute boys all day, but mostly because it meant you could get away from your parents a bit. You had freshly graduated when you received a mysterious job offer, from an acquaintance of your former employer. You decided it could be a good idea to leave the family house to get some air. It was indeed ! Because you go to reinvent yourself, even make up a fake name 'cause you felt like it. So here you were Vivi.
Well you were Vivi to most people. Except for this stupid boy that always mockingly despised you, so much you weren't sure if it was a joke anymore. To Shidou, you were maid-vivi. As if the only task you did was cleaning. Well, he was kinda right but you would have never admitted it to him. You still had paperwork and PR work to do sometimes...
You took your paycheck and exited Ego's office. And as you made your way to your staff room (your personal bedroom if you may) you bumped into him, yet again. It seemed like your paths always crossed, you could swear you saw him more than your own reflection these days. “Maid-viviiii” he sang as he walked towards the cafeteria. “Shidou.” Suddenly a crazy thought came to you. You could blackmail him. And win money with it. Obviously you wouldn't extort it out of him, but more at the situation. You grinned. When was it you became evil ?
“Are you holding up well ?” You turned around before he was too far away. He stopped and turned around too, to see your face. You could see his incomprehension at your concerned face. “What do you mean, maid vivi ? I’m always well, and I recovered perfectly from yesterday's match as a U-20, as I always do”. You wanted to mock him so badly: “even though you lost ?”. But you said instead: “Oh.. So you haven't seen then ?” God you started feeling bad for being this machiavellian. “People online, they found out about, you know… You swinging that way. I’m sorry they outed you to everyone this way. But worry not Shidou, I'll still treat you the same as I am actually an ally to ga–" "I’M NOT GAY !”. Damn he got started fast. Perfect. “WHO THE FUCK SAID THAT”. “Uhm, netizens, but as I said every sexuality is fine and–”. “I’m not a fucking gay ! I respect them obviously but I'm not like… Like them !” He was still shouting. “Oh… they lied then ? But they showed old tweets you had on your profile and–” “Impossible, I’ve never done anything like that. I swear i will find these fuckers and make them pay”. “Well they can pay all they want but now everyone knows- uh i mean thinks you’re a homosexual”. “Why do you put it that way ?! Pfff I need to prove ‘em I'm not. Maybe if i retweet hetero porn it’ll convinc–”. “Ooh i don’t think you need to go that far”. As you said the sentence, another lightbulb appeared and lit in your head. This whole prank –cause yeah it was a prank, no netizens ever found any tweet– was solely to piss him off. But now you could get something else out of it. “I think dating a girl would be enough. Good luck on finding someone while you live here 24/7 tho. Anyway I need to go now ! Good luck !”. Both these sentences were not complete lies. “Fuck…” you heard him hiss down low as you left.
What did you get out of this crazy man stunt ? The satisfaction of seeing him suffer AND something that will most likely bring new audiences to Blue Lock TV. BLTV had already started unbeknownst to the boys. If Shidou, one of the most populars contestants, had a girlfriend, it would create new drama that’d bring a new audience. And you being the start of that would most likely mean a raise ! Double homicide.
That was your ideal without actually thinking things through. Because who was the only girl Shidou could turn to, while living here 247 as you said ? Yup.
[ y o u ]
A/N: AHH I NEVER MEAN FOR THIS TO BE A SERIES ??!!! but it just came naturally... This will be a new exercise so I'm actually keen to see how it goes, how i'll do !! Also i forced myself to be concise cause i always do the longessttt (almost annoying i feel like) writings so i hope it's still comprehensible. FEEDBACK IS SO GREATLY APPRECIATED !!! hehe love u, u reading this...

Ahh it's the last day of 2023 already?
I am expecting a call from a friend although the possibility of this happening is very slim it always felt nice to hear the voice of an old friend ( I'm not a text person I've realised this over time but I am stuck to be a text person) .
I can't wait for spring to come in 2024 , spring provides an intense amount of healing to my soul.
The next four months are very crucial in my life if they go well I can survive the rest of the year, I have died a couple of times this year and I am amazed that I am alive i didn't honestly thought i would make it to the end of this year ( especially in the last 3 months , I badly needed help but i didn't wanted others to pity me so i spoke to none about it ) anyways I don't want to talk about it , i don't want to make it sound blue than it already is,a i am really sorry about the fact all my posts are blue I sincerely wish it wasn't that way( altho i haven't posted anything here with as much as devotion I use to do , partly cuz i created an Instagram acc but that's not all reason I ve been sad nonetheless) and sorry for all the "anon/asks" that i haven't answered
I have made no achievements this year and there is little to no progress towards my self love or self growth, but I think that's okay I can do it in the upcoming year, time flies so quick i can't believe Its been so many years since I was 16 I miss being 16 honestly I had more in me back then than i have now , i have lost of confidence my vision and my smile over the years it's as if I am very different person now , i certainly wish I wasn't this way i really thought i would be so much more and better in my early 20s but it is what it is , acceptance is haredest of all emotions in my opinion , you know things are harder to accept when you know you could have done better .
Just like in the last 2 years even this year I didn't make any real life friends with whom I can hang out with i think it's partly due to the fact some people are destined to be alone and I am afraid to admit I am one of them , I did make 2 online friends this year .
I don't want to share any life lessons i learnt this year but if there is something i would love to share is choose yourself one more time each time you feel it's the last time you are doing it , choose one more time to live, one more time to hope, one more time to have faith , one more time to start again [ the fact I am the one telling you this is rediciculosly funny ] .
Unlike most people i don't have a lot of goals for the new year I just got things i want to avoid ( idk if that's the same thing?) Avoid my leftover heart's heartbreak, avoiding what takes away my peace, avoiding what can cause me discomfort, avoiding things that make me question myself ( in any negative way) ,i think that's a little too much but that's it .
As I was writing this Google photos sent me a notification saying " 3 years back today with a photo of mine " and it broke my heart a little, now I am questioning myself how did i let so much happen to me , I wish I treated certain things as the last time instead of always stupidly believing in future ( my worse trait yes).
There is a lot to say as always, i wonder if I open my mouth i would never stop sharing things that go inside my mind , but i also know there is no use of it if i can't find people who can understand it , maybe that's how I end up ranting here .
Not to mention I love people who are patient, i believe in the near future i would only like to talk with people who could be patient with me and with my silence . I believe everyone deserves people who can be patient with them .
Nothing really matters in the end but at the same time everything you do matters ❤️‍🩹
