However.. I am ever so uncomfortable with this ask only for a few reasons. Redeeming a character cannot just work by.. changing their sexuality really. If I was to redeem Reita it would be about him actually apologizing for his misdemeanors and disrespect towards women and his victims. Making his redemption purely based on the gender identity of the reader feels vaguely… fetish-y and as a CIS woman I genuinely do not wish to ever cause my trans community any discomfort.

Secondly, Reita is strictly heterosexual from what I can read from author notes and mentions in the anime. If you have ANY evidence to disprove this, maybe more recent writing from the creators, I would love to write MLM for him. However, as a member of the LGBT+, proper respect and representation means the most to me, even when it comes to fictional characters. I would never tolerate someone asking for me to write a homosexual (gay or lesbian) to be in a straight scenario.

I hold this standard with other characters like Jane and Jay. I do specify I will only write WLW and MLM content for them. Now if a character’s sexuality is not specified or the creator gets cancelled thus allowing the fandom to have rights to the character then I’m more open to just whatever. the idea trope/plot you have for jay's in crossing the line is so exciting to me, i can't wait for it the most!!hehe

so here are a few things i can think of that can maybe hopefully help u w the plot that i'd also like to see happen in the fic and squeal over if you'd like to add them in yourself as well :)

the coach (reader's dad) is known for his brutal discipline and has one off limits rule that he STRICLY suggests everyone on team to ABIDE by, which is to stay away from his daughter, since coach knows how boys are and can be. but reader is at every game, practice, and even helping her dad out most the time and is always watching their games/practice, so it's hard for jay not to notice

jay could also be super close w the coach and he's like the coach's personal favourite bc he plays the best out of everybody on the team or just has something very outstanding to him that makes him shine the most out of everyone so coach secretly has favouritism towards jay and so he doesn't want to break the coach's trust or betray him but he just can't help but be distracted by his daughterr

maybe rumors start flying that someone on the team is getting too close to the coach's daughter and tension rises around the locker room, jay tries to play it cool but the risk makes him more drawn to reader and reader is scared her dad will find out esp since the dad is already so suspicious of everyone (maybe a little except for jay since he's the favourite and so coach trusts him more than anyone else)

jay cornering reader in a quiet hallway during a home game, doesn't touch her but just gets close enough and says "say the word, and i'll stop" and she doesnttt 😝

maybe also a team party, they brush against each other and exchange glances across the room and jay watches her w someone else and OOOHH he's MADDD JEALOUSSS like jaw and fists clenched type thing and maybe a fight eruptsss..? 🤪 but he can't do anything about it too much since he's still trying to keep it very lowkey and all bc of yk who☝️🤓

they, of course, start seeing each other in secret more often. behind the rink, in empty locker rooms, etc. but they never really go all the way, stolen kisses and all. it's still always about wanting and not having...yet 😏

jay gets injured in a big game and reader is the one who helps him the most and gets close to him a lot at that time bc shes super concerned and worried over him and his injury that it gets kinda, questionable? like wow she's getting a little too helpful and touchy it's hard not to think something is going on between them for her to be this concerned and assisting.

maybe someone else on the team who has also taken a liking to her— gets super jealous about it since he likes her too but does nothing about it bc of the strict rule the coach strongly advised everyone to obey, that side guy chooses to comply with, because he wants to win the favours of the coach like how coach is with jay and maybe he's also just super envious of jay in general. so side guy just admires and watches reader from afar and is overtaken by the green eyed monster whenever he sees her hang with jay. and he plans that when coach starts to notice him a little bit more than everyone else and possibly more than jay too, by being a good boy in the coach's eyes, that's when side guy will try and win the approval of coach for his daughter too and be deemed "good enough" for her and then tries to swoop reader in perhaps—but she gets too close to jay and is giving him all that treatment willingly so side guy here pulls a petty move and plots something evil to cause jay's downfall— he's probably also the reason why jay was injured from the start tbh.

like even if they're on the same team, side guy seems to want to compete against jay since he has everything he currently wants (the coach's constant validation and approval towards jay and now even the coach's daughter's gushing concern over jay, and maybe side guy over here pushed jay a bit too hard that he slides across the rink and hits something hard or that side dude says something to jay to piss him off and play with him and jay gets physical with him and side guy retaliated a bit too hard personally out of his envious spite and that's why jay became injured mayhaps). so side guy obviously notices their "too close" contact in this situation since side guy observes both reader and jay the most out of everyone for his own personal reasons, and tells on them and maybe that's when the rumors start or that he tells on them to the dad and the dad starts getting too overly suspicious of jay now. maybe even benches him at one point over smth or coach dad is becoming too personal and petty with the growing tension between coach and jay after side guy told on jay 💀

side guy is also probably already smirking and evil giggling somewhere in the corners of that ice rink 😭 he could also very well be that person that jay might've fought with at the party, like when jay got jealous over reader talking/laughing and spending time with some "other" dude, could also be him tbh— if the scenes do happen and you'll connect them if you ever do add these in :)

coach nearly catches them like maybe reader leaves something behind or jay gets caught with a lipstick mark on him somewhere, or caught almost on the spot where reader has to hide somewhere in the locker room after they heard coach/her dad headed towards the locker room and bursted through the doors so suddenly when they were just having a heated makeout session minutes prior and reader has to hide somewhere very awkwardly (i can't think of a place funny enough for her to hide in 😔) or maybe they both have to hide together in a very tight and awkward space since practice is done and everyone is "supposed" to be out by then since it's quite late already and it's unusual for someone to still be around in the locker rooms at that time. and coach heard some suspicious noises in there so he went in to check and that's when jay and her quickly hides and a situation happens, like i'm thinking of the scene in the movie "on your wedding day" where the male and female lead had to hide in an enclosed space and her bum brushes over his crotch and the male lead was trying so hard not to make a sound and holding himself back bc the girl kept moving around, couldn't be still, and brushing past him down there repeatedly bc she was peeking through the gaps of the door to see if the person has left or not PLS it was so funny 😭. and then jay would just be there standing and backing up slightly in the little space they're in— trying so hard not to make a sound as to not alert the coach/her dad while she does this unknowingly and doesn't even notice his struggles or quiet pleas at all and even tells jay to "stop being so squirmy" while she's ironically squirmy herself in the area that's affecting him the most😭, it was so funny in the movie and if this scene can also happen in the fic, it'd be really funny too considering that they're still trying to be "subtle" about "them" and keep things hidden

eye contact that lingers way too long in group settings. like across the bench or in crowds, or him specifically looking for her in the crowd at a big game

her subtly wearing his number or initial on her necklace/bracelet. not enough to be obvious, but he sees it and he knows it's for him

and a scene where maybe he was acting distant or playfully flirted with some girl in front of reader to purposely make her jealous and strike a nerve in her bc he finds it hot or cute when she's mad or jealous or to try and break her to see if she loses resolve or not— and to also like, get back at her playfully bc the night prior she made jay jealous too (wasn't on purpose, but can also be) w that other guy (side guy perhaps), so then she pulls something back out of spite as well and walks into his practice or at another party in his hoodie like "try and act like i don't exist now" and quietly challenging him 🤭

I sort of wanted to emphasize that anyone who would join the Karma Club would inherently be predisposed to doing horrible things for their own enjoyment. Also, as in real life, sometimes the nicest people can do horrible things. People are far more contradictory than we give them credit for. That being said, no spoilers on what he'll do with the screenshots. It's been fascinating to see the revulsion towards Riki's actions compared to what Jay has done to the MC.

If it makes you feel any better, they aren't really at square one. Square one was Jay harassing her nonstop because he truly was disgusted by her, in as equal measure as he was fascinated by her. Like he said, he now doesn't even know if he hates her anymore. So even though it seems like they've gone to the beginning, this is new territory for both of them. Jay is a huge pussy, though. He calls Jake a pussy, but Jake has made more genuine attempts to get close to Y/N than him LOL

It's good that you don't trust him. At that point, Heeseung had already told Y/N to just be nice to Jake, so she didn't want to bother him. Heeseung essentially told her that she was part of the reason why Jake relapsed, so she doesn't want to toe the line.

The only other time I've ever done that is for Tired of What We Are, and I think you can see some of the parallels. So! Tell me about Aurora! Did they have a life before the Urge came calling? How has their journey been through the game? Are they romancing anybody or do they have any other significant bonds?

I hope you don't mind, but I decided to split this into two posts. You asked about her journey through the game, and suddenly I had written 1400 words that didn't fit with the rest. So uuh yeah, here's the first and the last question at least!

I'm still a little unsure about her life before the Urge. There's the few "canon" things we're given through bits of dialogue (like murdering their parents as a child), but I honestly don't tend to get too caught up in canon if I want to do something different.

She had a lot of nightmares as a child (thanks dad), and it made her a very skittish and nervous child. In combination with minor Urges which made her say and sometimes do off-putting shit, I imagine she wasn't exactly a social butterfly. Like once she probably bit someone when the Urge overtook her, but bc they were baby urges and she was like 6-years-old it didn't really do much but alienate her.

But I think she was otherwise a good kid, doing her best and loved by her adoptive parents, even if they probably worried about her a lot.

I kinda like the idea of her being slightly older, someone who briefly escaped her heritage due to Bhaal's death before he returned in full, and the Urge became too strong to ignore. To have the Urge hovering around in the background her entire life, but always being able to repress it, until she suddenly couldn't.

Idk there's just something to the tragedy of being so close to escaping your predestined fate, when in reality it was always going to end like that, on way or another. You never truly escaped anything, you simply just delayed the inevitable.

She could still have murdered her family, still living with her adoptive parents and possible siblings, or maybe she had her own family by then. Either way, Bhaal would have wanted them out of the way.

The Urge building and building, sending her flip-flopping between moments of bloodlust and lucidity filled with fear, until the Urge took her away completely.

(Would the Urge even work like that for any of this? Who cares, just gonna do as Larian does, my city now).

TL;DR: I don't even know, it's still stewing in there.

Though I've watched like every Durge related video on YouTube, I haven't actually played very far in Aurora's playthrough, mostly bc I'm waiting for Larian to stop breaking the game with every new patch 🙈

Meaning I haven't actually had a lot of time with her interacting with the companions and gotten a good feel for where they're at.

Wyll and Shadowheart are possible candidates for some at least surface level boding. Like Wyll's whole "self sacrifice for the good of others" thing, and with Shadowheart they both have been brainwashed and forced into cruelty in service of an evil god.

And Karlach bc I love her and I said so.

Maybe some more interesting dynamics will pop up once I really get in there with her 🤔 (Larian fix your shit already, I want to plaaay)

There's also Jay who's already wrangling every other companion and their problems, so I'm sure he'll have some fingers in her pies too eventually (it's what he does, after all).

The only solid relationship to have formed in my head as of yet is her romance, and bc I'm as original as a pair of earbuds from AliExpress, she eventually starts a thing with Astarion.

He initially sees her as an easy target, a shy and possibly meek person quite literally removed from the others at camp (a deliberate choice on her part), but it doesn't go quite as he had planned.

I've written a whole post about it that's hanging out in my drafts, but tl;dr: he tries to bite her, but she wakes and angrily sends him away. She later comes to him one night, panicked after the Murder At Camp™, and he (begrudgingly) agrees to help her with the body. This begins this weird partnership where they keep each other's secret, and she lets him drink from her as thanks for helping her.

Their relationship is a bit rocky at first, like they don't hate each other or anything, but there's a fair share of bickering and such. She can be a bit blunt, and is too impatient and exhausted from the urge to deal with his very obvious mind games, tiredly telling him "stop trying to seduce me, you already have what you came for".

When he offers to sleep with her at the party, she thinks "why not". They're already putting each other at risk, so might as well have some fun with it. He might have tried to bed her sooner if she hadn't been so blunt and unapproachable, but it did also give him some time to rethink his strategy. Based on finds with the freecam during his party sex scene, he has set up a lil spot on a blanket, with wine and maybe some food, in an attempt to seem more genuine, which admittedly she does find a little cute.

Ultimately it's all the bits in between, the quiet moments after feeding or sex that gives them an excuse to talk, and they realize they enjoy each other's company a lot more than they first thought. She vibes with him a lot more when he's being genuine, something she sees more of when he's fed and generally less guarded.

She've kept her distance from the others bc of the urge, in fear of either harming someone, or being discovered through the tadpoles somehow. It puts her on edge constantly, but Astarion already knows, and she knows he doesn't judge her for it, so she's more at ease too.

Aurora can become ride or die pretty fast, especially in combination with other intense personality traits (hello devotion), and I think maybe Astarion picks up on that and thinks he can use that to his advantage. At least until he too accidentally catches feelings and becomes pretty ride or die himself lmao. Great job idiot.

Which is also when her more self sacrificing nature goes from something that could be to his advantage, to something that actively upsets him. Stop it! Stop sacrificing yourself for others who probably don't even deserve it! Stop putting yourself in situations that could take you away from me for no good reason.

They're note super lovey-dovey either. Like sure there's romance and tenderness there, but there's also some clash of personalities ("stop being an asshole" "stop trying to be such a bloody hero"). Nothing too bad but there's definitively something for them to work on.

This became the Aurora and Astarion post, sorry about that (not really). I hope to have some better answers to these in the future, my brain is still cooking (unfortunately it's a slowcooker).

god wait. okay so there's a character i didn't even list with the verse who was a self-insert. she was actually supposed to be the main character but i just had no real interest in her and kinda got rid of her. i eventually used her name as charlie's deadname but i don't THINK they're the same character? as i see it i have a few options here: 1) she's dead and gone, f, don't include her in story 2) she was charlie so i can include charlie and co in the verse. not ideal bc personalities were different but charlie is more interesting to me tbh. 3) just make her a separate character and rename her. She Lives. though she's probably going to transition tbh. 4) same as 3 but also charlie and co are still here too. that crew is made to verse-hop i could get away with that. Much To Think About.

okay so what college does this take place at... my only experience in the dorms was at lindenwood in MO but i spent more time in IL. i'd like to actually base it off a real place but i think either way i'll have to do research, so really i can set this anywhere. TRverse used to be set just where i lived, but somaverse is in the PNW and i like variety so maybe we keep it in the midwest? okay yeah i'll stick with IL, i'm vaguely familiar with the area

struggling to phrase this concisely but do u have any thoughts on how stephanie and cassandra would relate or struggle to relate to jason given that his death was held over both of their heads and the timing of his return to gotham being RIGHT after steph’s death in war games… i just think it’s such an underutilized dynamic and there’s a lot of interesting stuff there bc i think cass would find jason infuriating whereas steph would find him unnervingly relatable and similar to her… add in the context of jason’s relationships to dick babs and tim (or lack thereof) and i just think there’s a lot of much more interesting storylines and conflicts than the half redeemed uncommitted to anything jason we have now where most of the batfam is like simultaneously disdainful of and indifferent to jason’s presence/choices

i’m sorry but I think this might be a mad disappointing answer… (which is why i’m very curious how you see it! maybe there’s some interesting angle that i am missing – please do tell!)

i think it all depends on what moment in the timeline we are thinking about for jason. utrh doesn't offer much space for anyone other than bruce and jay to interact, and i believe this (and lost days) is the only time when he is truly committed to any particular moral 'code' or a specific cause (like 'controlling crime'). even in comics in which jay is portrayed as a villain, he doesn't really... do anything other than displaying severe mental illness symptoms? no more crime empire, no more fixed agenda, just dogmatic murder and wandering around in some maladaptive state. but since you mentioned that in most scenarios he is “half-redeemed”, i will go with what i think is going on with jay post-utrh: he's not truly committed, but he's also not rehabilitated; nowhere near to it, even. 

now, the question that i always ask myself in terms of what dynamics can arise for characters is what both of them can get out of this relationship (on a meta level). 

which kinda leads me to perhaps a very underwhelming assumption that jay is just such a mess in that period that it's difficult to imagine scenarios where characters like steph or cass actually gain anything from sharing the narrative with him. it's a bit ironic in a sense that jay could get plenty out of it in terms of his storyline: cass' very presence poses a threat to his already very wobbly philosophy, and it would probably unnerve him because of how her personality reflects his own innate compassion. steph, on the other hand, is like a still frame of his worst time as robin, right before his death. (and by *the worst* I mean his emotional turmoil and issues in relationship with bruce rather than an assessment of his skills or even morals), which i think would also terrify him. as such, i reckon he would actually avoid both of them. in terms of cass, I don’t think she would necessarily want to interact with him either, mostly because while *ordinarily* she would fight anyone of his views, and she for sure wouldn't have much sympathy for him, she would be able to see that his philosophy is a result of immense trauma. we could conceive circumstances in which they are forced to work together, and as i once mentioned, if we put them in a box and shook hard enough, a conflict would definitely arise. but at the end of the day, does cass get anything out of it in terms of her own development? at this point she is (for the better part) way past the internal conflicts that jay experiences; she is simply more mature. 

as for steph, i could see steph seeking him out if the comparison to the ‘failed robin’ was fresh in her mind. but I think, to an extent, she would be disappointed – because while they do share a lot of characteristics and background, he is reckless only as much as he is suicidal. it’s definitely not his typical trait and as a child, he never had the same issues with bruce until the very end (starlin’s run). i'm not saying there's no room to still bond over certain things – but jay's self-isolating tendencies definitely would not help here at all. and i think if steph realised how big of a mistmatch there is between all of stories she was fed and his past + current attitude, she would maybe pity him.

so tldr it’s very difficult for me to imagine any particular dynamics nor stories for them within that timeframe. i don't think it's the case for *all* characters btw – i think people who knew him before (dick, donna, perhaps leslie or dana if we want to go in the direction of civilians), people who don't even know who he is and don't really care (kyle), or parental figures/older gen (talia or even some jl members) generally have a better set up to get involved with jay in meaningful ways (for both sides involved.)

but when it comes to characters around his age who only heard of him in a context of his death, it's simply... sad, especially that he *is* still a walking tragedy at this point.

now, on the other hand… the lost days? here, there is some grand potential for cass & jay or even jay & steph content. but that’s a topic for a whole another post.

“Y/n!” Jay called from the other room, you already knew what was going to happen by the tone of his voice. He was angry. You’ve never really seen Jay get mad before, of course he feels the emotion but he never lets anyone catch on, because when he does get angry it sure is a sight to see. 

“Yes,” you try to mask your fear as you take a deep breath, “is there something wrong?” 

“Yes. There is.” He says, his voice a lot calmer now. You put down your phone and stand up from the sofa, waiting to be told to leave. He came close, almost cornering you. There was no way to escape. “When I asked you to translate that message last week, you did it? Right?” 

“I did.” You gulp, the space between you two was very limited, you could feel his breath on your skin as he spoke, and you felt heat between your legs. 

“Well it was fucking wrong.” He says, in a near-whisper, his hand snaking up to your throat. “We’ve just fucked this entire mission up, y/n. Because of you. Do you understand what this means?” 

You don’t answer him back, scared to open your mouth incase you let out a whine or some ungodly sound instead. 

“I said,” he spoke through gritted teeth, releasing his hand from your throat to raise it and smack you across the face- hard enough to shock you, but gentle enough to not hurt you, “do you understand what this means?” 

“Yes, I understand.” You manage to say. 

“Good,” Jay backs away from you, you almost thought for a moment that he would let you off, but you were wrong. Terribly wrong.

He took his belt off and sat on the small sofa, spreading his legs out slightly 

“Come here.” 

You were fucked. 

You began to walk towards him, he watched you rather intensely as you tried to keep your balance- your knees weakened at the thought of him using his belt on you. 

“Good girl, now bend over, lift your skirt up while you’re at it too.”

You do as he says, lifting your skirt up to reveal your ass, and bending across his knee. Waiting to feel the sting of his belt on your skin. 

And there it was.

chip- pyro sword - can use dual swords, just have one be different than other. burst probably shoots a canon or smthn

gillion - electro claymore - burst reliant character that focuses on shielding other characters at cost of health

dakota- pyro catalyst - very hard to get out from the heizou vibe but there r so many types of martial arts so i feel like it can b different enough

vyncent - hydro polearm?? - changes between stances like childe - man i do not know his weapon but polearm seems fun

william - cryo catalyst - similar life suck mechanic to hu tao or xiao

AWESOME AWESOMEAWESOME i was also thinling anemo for jay!! i wasnt sure if i was on the right track there since i dont know much abt the lore implications of anemo but im glad u agree. i think shed be a charged shot fiend like ganyu to match the sureshot title ^_^ has a marking mechanic similar to childe that gives her bonus dmg on her ult (my version of hunters mark) and her ult is similar to dilucs in that it is a massive fucking bird like her zephyr strike. noo clue what her skill would be though

chip gave me sooo much trouble i think.god. riptide spoilers ahead i guess but his skill could turn his single sword to dual blades where one is entirely pyro similar to the blades he gets from rufus? i cant fully remember how they work though. mechanically its either be a set duration like xingqius rainswords or it could be a stance change like childe.burst i have absolutely nothing but i thought also about giving him a skill similar to rosarias that lets him teleport behind opponents since a) kaeya has teleportation bc of his abyss connections, chip has connections to the black sea, kinda similar there i think it would be a neat parallel, b) chip goes behind people fucking CONSTANTLY a large ampunt of his attacks are him attacking from the front then flipping over them to get their back too and c) literally in the mnm oneshot his power was teleportation. though i suppose that could just be in his na string like kaeya and still be cool

gillion electro IS SO COOL... i had him hydro since like its His Thing but i cant remember anythingg about the reasonings for electro visions so i wasnt sure if i could go for it. thank you also for reminding me the word claymore i can never remember it either. i had his skill down as similar to shinobus too (with elements of barbaras so it reduces incoming dmg too) but with a burst more like .. raidens skill? provides a damage buff to the active character along with dealing damage maybe and his healing would scale off attack

dakota i have said enough about but i really do think pyro catalyst maryial artist could be cool if i like. knew enough about heizous kit to make them different enough

vyncent i am at a LOSS for. most of my vision knowledge is about cryo and i know he isnt that. i had him as sword just because its the shortest range and the closest to a dagger?? stance change to archer is a must but i do also wanthim to be able to change to claymore? and even catalyst? but i cant mechanically come up with ANYTHING. maybe he just has unlimited stance changes with like. a 5 sec cooldown between shifts? that deals some dmg every time he shifts just automatically. i would like his ranger/archer form to have an infusion to make them similar to yoimiya because i think that would be cool but such is life. his burst would be different dependimg on what stance hes in when he casts it, sometimes its healimg sometimes its a buff field sometimes its pure dmg, etc

william cryo catalyst FOR REAL. a lifesteal mechanic is so fucking sick i didnt think of that before. i thought about him a lot i def think his wisp form would be his ult. his skill would be some sort of construct (ie ghostshaping) similar to something like albedo or zhomglis that deals damage and debuffs enemies while hes off field and then comes out for his burst. i think a life drain like xiaos would be coolest, he def does a lot of charged atks during his ult so incread atk speed is in there too + resistence to interruption and maybe even a shield?? like yanfeis c4
