society would be so much better if you guys stopped diminishing junna's role & portrayal in episode 2 of revue starlight insofar as the themes of breakneck competition, success, responsibility vs. passionate self-actualization of revue starlight are concerned. btw. there is literally so much to unpack there that helps set the tone for the entire franchise and yet people diminish her focus episode as something akin to filler and it makes me want to RIP my HAIR out of my HEAD
and not to mention reducing her to a character entirely that just exists in the periphery of nana, too.
like, it's good that she got to win in gekijouban and get the spotlight! It's fucking great! But gekijouban so so so much plays into and against viewer perception & interpretation from the anime (you're the audience, the fuel, remember!) people fixated on nana snapping, so nana once again reprises her role as the aggressor in the movie. people diminish junna, so she diminishes herself (ima wa, yo!) and the resolution of that is that that is so, so incontrovertibly against what they are, what they truly desire, what they're so frothing at the mouth to gouge on and devour and fill the voids within their hearts that they fight, they struggle, they spill blood to return to their truest forms.
and if you look back you can see that everything that junna is in the movie, she's been in the anime, too - it's all always been there! she's always had it in her! Episode 2 has always had EVERYTHING in it!!!!! And you fucking dweebs are all like!!! Ooh nana nana nana I thought this was just a fun little fighting swords show look there's a time loop what a twist isn't that so crazy! And you just act like there's nothing about a girl who wants to fight against everything and the entire world and herself and abandon her home, separate herself from her family, place expectations unto herself and the people around her to the point that she breaks until she can be the true self, the dazzling hero that she wants to be, that she has to be. And so many people don't get that! You are so fixated on the supernatural that you forget that it's substance that makes Nana's arc work, and that there's substance for Junna, too! Everything's there! It's all there, in episode 2!
And the only true crime there is that it ends too soon and moves on so fast. But for those of us with eyes, we see. We've seen since 2018. It's always been there. She's always been there. She's always been Junna. It's written, right there, in the script. Junna has always been who she is, and it's right there, in episode 2.

There's something that I think tends to get overlooked when people discuss how Orym’s trauma relates to the debate about the gods. In addition to triggering his grief and trauma responses, Orym has been told repeatedly that if any of his friends turn, he'll have to kill them. Including by some of the friends in question.
The rest of Bell’s Hells (with maybe the exception of Ashton and Fearne) have all said to his face that he's 'The Good One', and that if they turn traitor they know he'll "do the right thing" by eliminating them before they can do any major harm.
Not only is that a hell of a lot of pressure to put on one person, but Orym is desperate to avoid having to do that. He LOVES his friends. Even when he was face-to-face with DeLaudna, he tried to throw down his weapons at first. He was one of the first members of the group to call Bell’s Hells his family.
Orym can't let go of his quest to stop Ludinus, and for good reason. Dorian agreeing with Ludinus' argument is particularly painful, given all the feelings that are tangled up in there. Even putting aside the Dorym of it all, Orym trusts Dorian more than anyone and believes so hard in his innate goodness. If Dorian joined the Ruby Vanguard and Orym had to fight him, I think he might actually break.
So I'm not surprised Orym snapped at Dorian the way he did. Not saying he was right to do so - it was harsh and hurtful of Orym to bring Cyrus into it, and he should apologize for that.
Between his past trauma and the prospect of having to kill the people he loves most, I think it's understandable that hearing his friends entertain Ludinus' ideas would frighten Orym. He needs to learn to trust that just because his friends might agree with some of Ludinus' points, it doesn't mean they're going to join the Vanguard. I'm not sure he'll ever feel completely safe in his relationships without that reassurance.

Naruto is a very Foolish child. Clumsy, loud, weak. Harmless.
Sasuke is a very Clingy child. Dependent, weak, slow. Naive.
Sakura is a very Timid child. Quiet, soft, calm. A Civilian Girl.
Naruto is a very Clever child. Careful, intentional, hidden. Safe.
Sasuke is a very Observant child. Watchful, curious, concerned. Loved.
Sakura is a very Cunning child. Collected, calculating, stubborn. Strong.
Naruto is Clever and so pretends to be Foolish. The villagers fear Him for faults not his own, so he is Careful what he shows them. He pretends to be Clumsy, is Intentionally Louder than he should be for a Shinobi, and fakes being Weak. They must think him Harmless, because if he is Harmless he is Safe.
Sasuke is Observant and so pretends to be Clingy. Itachi is worried for him, so he acts Dependent. Itachi does things he does not believe in for Sasuke's sake, so he acts Weak and Slow. Horrible traits for a potential Uchiha Heir, this means Itachi can still openly love him. Sasuke is Watchful of his brother and is Concerned for him as he goes against himself for their Family. Sasuke is Curious about many things, but not what would happen to Itachi if Sasuke were to be viable for Heir. As long as Sasuke is believed to be Naive, Itachi is Safe.
Sakura is Cunning but is mistaken as Timid. Sakura is not as outwardly Stubborn as her mother and as such is mistaken for being Soft. Sakura's temper is not quite as bad as Ino’s so she is labeled as being Calm. Sakura has been told she's quite Quiet when in fact she is simply Collected. She knows she is more Calculating than most her age, and tries not to show interest in the life of a Shinobi. Her family is that of civilians and their reputation is important to them. So as much as she wishes she could become that Strong, she must remain no more than A Civilian Girl, and live a boring life. She must remain Safe.

Probably not gonna match with when this comes out translated, but still—just a few things I liked about BNHA 423
Tumblr media
WE GOT TO SEE THE VESTIGES AGAAAAINNNNN!!! HI BRUCE!
I think Bruce gets a lot of bad angles. This is an example (but it's okay honey, you're still hot stuff)
Unfortunately, I have a favorite. It's Bruce. The most Normal Guy™ in the vestige line up. And the special-est sopping wet cat for Kudo ever (Yoichi is a dry cat because at least Kudo remembered to take Yoichi inside).
The vestiges were all gearing for a punch, but Tomura/Tenko is reaching out.
The rest of the users usually use OFA to punch, is the general idea we see. But Tomura/Tenko's Quirk isn't that.
Tomura/Tenko reaching his hand out to grab, and the vestiges readying a punch—it's their ways of putting the hurt on.
And Tomura/Tenko knows what happens if he puts his fingers on someone. He was aiming for AFO's head too. Guy was pissed.
I like that the vestiges look like they're crawling out of hell (or the depths) here. Technically for OFA itself, which they embody, being in AFO's realm was hell. It meant they failed their collective goals to win against AFO, and keep OFA [Yoichi] out of his possession
Also, they're all embers of who they once were. If Factors embodied their personalities, these embers are the leftovers of that embodiment. Their eyes are blank.
And even when they're only shattered fragments of themselves, they came for AFO to take him down.
They really embodied that purpose. Even as husks of themselves, or sad leftovers that scattered from their destroyed Factors, they still reached forward to clock AFO one last time.
They were that determined, and that determination was all that was left of them.
Meanwhile, with Yoichi, his itty bitty remains continued trying to talk sense into his brother till the end.
Yoichi has such a bleeding heart. But he also loved his brother.
Tumblr media
AFO is standing in the dark. But in that dark, there's a light. It's Yoichi, as if he were the light at the end of the tunnel.
AFO chased OFA for decades, and ruined a lot of lives, just to have Yoichi by his side again.
Joining hands with Garaki; killing Banjo, En, Nana; forcing the creation and upbringing of Tenko; the whole Shimura incident; everything he did to UA and the Aoyamas to get close to the wielder of OFA [Yoichi]. He did all that, and more.
He just wanted the chance to have Yoichi with him again. That was his purpose in obtaining OFA this whole time.
Tumblr media
Yoichi was AFO's light at the end of the tunnel.
Too bad for AFO, the light at the end of the tunnel was an oncoming train.
Yoichi is telling AFO what happened, but I love that in front of Yoichi, AFO became himself. I mean, not a mass of scar tissue, but who he originally looked like
Idk, there's just something symbolic about it?
Tumblr media
Midoriya calls AFO a lonely man. And Yoichi comes to him, and AFO says he wants Yoichi by his side. He wouldn't be lonely if that were the case. Yoichi could make him not lonely anymore.
And the lonely man, a bundle of scar tissue from his warpath to see Yoichi again, reverts to a time he had no injuries or scars. He looks like the period of time where he and Yoichi lived in the same era.
In front of Yoichi, he's just.. himself, I guess is how to put it. Not a mass of scar tissue, or the evil villain everyone feared: he's literally just Yoichi's "Nii-san".
It's like, the scar tissue shed itself to reveal AFO's true face.
He wants to see Yoichi's face, and ended up showing his own without even meaning or thinking to.
He's finally looking straight at Yoichi, trying to see his face. It's not like when Yoichi was alive, when AFO always looked down on him, and just waited for him to bend to his will.
Now, AFO has little time left with Yoichi, and he's lost his composure for it, wanting to see Yoichi as more than an ember. But maybe he got to the point he only ever saw Yoichi for his Factor, rather than the Factor for Yoichi: how often has he said he was chasing One For All, instead of his younger brother?
AFO wanted to see Yoichi's face, but when he saw Yoichi next to Kudo... yeah, he lost his mind a bit there. Probably (Definitely?) because he saw Kudo's Ability, and Kudo with Yoichi. And Kudo is "to blame for everything".
Tumblr media
Maybe he lost it seeing Kudo and Yoichi together, because it was a repeat of the past, I suppose?
(Technically, he did see Yoichi's face one last time already. Just that he also saw the bastard Kudo's face again too. And AFO did not like that.)
