Lots to say about Vex's attachment issues. So instead I'll point out: THAT is indeed the face of a man who just found out the guardian angel that took a bullet for him won't put a ring on it

May I ask for general dating headcanons for Grog, Scanlan, Percy and Vax pretty please?
Dating the boys of Vox Machina
I love how different all the party members are. They're such different characters, so writing for them as a group is a lot of fun.
Grog Strongjaw, Scanlan Shorthalt, Percy de Rolo & Vax'ildan x Reader
Fandom:The Legend of Vox Machina
Format: Headcanons
Gender-neutral Reader
Critical Role Masterlist Commission Info
Grog
Our favorite himbo <3
He likes how easily he can pick you up. It makes him happy to swing you up onto his shoulder and carry you around with him. It doesn't matter what you weigh, he can pick you up.
He will forget how strong he is and he will hug you too hard. This will happen on a very regular basis. I wish you and your bones luck.
"Look at them! They're so pretty and they're mine!"
Grog will tell Pike about you all the time. She knows your favorite color, which jokes you laugh at, and every other detail that Grog memorizes about you.
He likes gifting you his war trophies from fights. These can range from neat magical items to just straight-up gore. He means well.
Scanlan
Scanlan is...a lot. We all know this.
He loves over-the-top pickup lines. The more raunchy, the better. They are awful. He knows this. He will not admit it.
Past the dramatics, he genuinely does love to properly romance you. He thrives on traditional gestures like chocolates and flowers.
You are serenaded every other night. Sometimes it's a heartfelt ballad, sometimes it's a ska cover of Careless Whisper.
It doesn't matter how long you have been dating him, he is constantly wooing you. It's a lot of fun for him to try and make you blush.
Percy
Three am conversations in his workshop while he drafts a new invention are a frequent occurrence. He will ruin your sleep schedule if you let him.
He will give you so many gifts and they will all be ridiculously practical. He picks up on a lot of details on how you fight in order to make you things that will help.
He's a workaholic and you will have to pull him away from it sometimes. Maybe remind him to eat food as well. In exchange, he'll make sure you do too.
Percy will get very intense about things, it is a part of his personality. It can be very overwhelming to have that intensity focused on you.
He does not consciously register how attractive it is when he casually makes a difficult shot with his gun, but he will notice you drooling over him and he will make fun of you.
Vax
He's actually nearly as much of a flirt as Scanlan is, he's just much subtler about it.
He thinks it's very funny to quip about how he 'stole your heart.' You will hear this joke too often.
Gaining Vex's trust is actually a very important component of dating Vax because they're very protective of each other. If you get her to trust and like you, she will tell you you have bad taste in men.
He likes bringing you out for dates late in the evening so he can show you secret parts of the city and point out stars and constellations to you.
Don't worry about whether the gifts he gives you are bought or stolen. It's for the best to leave that question unasked.

I just remembered about Vervain and now all I can think about is, at some point, Vax offering Keyleth an amulet that has Vervain inside.
I feel like he would do it as an extra layer of protection against vampires him, but Keyleth knows herbs and she would easily find out about it. Would she wear it, tho? Maybe not. But then the clasp happens, and she adds up to her guilt that she should have been wearing the amulet; if she had been, she wouldn't have caused Vax and Percy so much pain and worry. Maybe from there on she starts carrying the amulet with her?
On the other hand, Vex gives Percy an amulet with vervain (does he know about it? He's a vampire hunter, so he probably knows and he probably already had one without Vex knowing), also as an added layer of protection, not necessarily against other vampires, but against her.
Vex loves compulsion and she likes to play with her food. Maybe when she starts having feelings for Percy she becomes afraid of using compulsion on him, so she gives him the amulet to make sure that she doesn't accidentally do it.
If Percy already had vervain on him before Vex gave him the amulet, he doesn't mention it, but Vex also never tried to use compulsion on him before, so she wouldn't know. It warms my heart to imagine Percy carrying her amulet instead, and how that would conflict with his emotions and feelings about Vampires/Vex.
bro bro BRO
i didn't even THINK about compulsion!!!!!!!!!!!!
i mean absolutely, before meeting the twins, both keyleth and percy know about and use vervain, it's just common sense, but once keyleth and vax get together, he always wants her to have it on her. but maybe the smell of it is bad to vampires or if they get too close it burns, so she takes it off a lot, especially if she's going to be spending time with him, and that's why she didn't have any on her when she was taken by the clasp.
vex absolutely loves to play with her food, but there was always something Different about percy, and she never wanted to use it on him. didn't even consider that he might have vervain on him, even when she knew he was a vampire hunter. and when he finds out she was a vampire, after all the rage and the betrayal and the shame washes over him, there's this little voice in the back of his mind reminding him that she never compelled him, even when he wasn't wearing the vervain (bc he was nakey ayyooooooo i'm 12).

after percy meets pelor, he cries. in private, of course - it's not something he wants to do in the face of the potential end of the world. there is more to worry about than his own baggage, there is more to focus on than his Beef with the almighty. but there is something surreal about facing the dawnfather.
though percy claims he's never prayed much [ & i think, for the most part that's true ] I'm sure he has when things were darkest. he probably prayed that someone would come save & cass, that they would both survive it, that he may be forgiven by the end of it all... but there was never an answer. in fact, the only reason they got whitestone back at all was because they did it them damn selves. sarenrae had a hand in it via pike but the dawnfather didn't help them.
i'm sure in hindsight, he'd see that pelor had a hand in saving his people. pelor wasn't absent, not by any means, vox machina cold just handle their own problems. he & cass survived it on their own, they grow on their own terms, but not without suffering. but there were other lives in the balance! but percy is just a single perspective in the greater picture. he is mortal, he is selfish, he is petty [ i say with love ] & as much as he likes to think he knows it all, he doesn't. he can't.
but there is still this resentment that lingers forever. because percy asked for help when he needed it most & was failed by the gods again & again. i think this is also partially because the gods work with people who are willing to meet them halfway & percy spent so long looking for a sign that he never took that leap of faith necessary? in fact, Cassandra was the one who finally trusted the gods with her fate & then paid a very expensive price for it.
but anyways there is something so visceral about facing any god, let alone the one you begged for mercy & never delivered it. the god who knows who they are, greets them as vox machina. proof that he'd been paying attention. also sarenrae saying that she hears every prayer is like salt in the wound for percy because it leaves this question of what would happen if he had prayed to her? what would have been different? would he be kinder, better, more consistent? he'll never know! it's soo much worse when pelor claims that whitestone is under his watch & keep. it's honest, yes, but it's so personal.
of course he would never want to change the journey he's taken to try & heal but i feel like it poses this question of ' what if i didn't have to take that journey at all ' which of course he would have... but percy deals in a lot of extremes, especially revolving around guilt & sense of self. he wants to say he wouldn't change anything he'd been through but there's so much he would undo if he had the chance. he's plagued by regret his whole life, he just learns how to manage it. though the feeling lingers, he learns how to forgive himself & the person that was even he wished he never had to become that person to survive.
also it's worth noting that this is like the straw that breaks the camels back. he'd just fought & killed delilah, vax died & came back to life, he'd faced another god only hours before. what they're dealing with is bigger than any single perspective.
he thought that maybe his role as a hero was over, though he knew better. all while he wonders in the back of his head whether or not whitestone is safe & when vecna is going to target it because he knows it's coming. there wouldnt be a ziggeraut under his home if it wasn't. delilah would have never chosen whitestone as her base of operations if it wasn't important. There would be a big, ugly cry at some point but it just makes him sick!
especially bcs he wants to believe. it feels like he wants to say he does, but this is something he knows he can't lie about. he sees vex, finding faith, right before his eyes & there's still this bit of him that remembers. that fixates on his unanswered prayers as a scared child. he trusts her, he's happy for her, he loves her... & maybe he's jealous. just a little bit, hidden beneath the rest of it.
also it is sooo worth noting that percy is not a crier. he's cried enough, there aren't many tears left for him that he hasn't already shed. but sometimes he can't help it.

Could I please request Percy, Pike, Keyleth, Vex, and Vax with a werewolf s/o Like they find out and s/o was trying to hind it Because they were afraid how they would react.
Finding Out S/O is a Werewolf
Fandom: Critical Role
Characters: Keyleth, Percy De Rolo, Pike Trickfoot, Vax'ildan, Vex'ahlia
Type of Request: Headcanons
Notes: Kind of a shame you didn't include Grog cause buff boy would be so excited. I'll happily write this for you tho!!
Tumblr media
Keyleth
She's more of a druid of the elements instead of beasts and such. So you being a werewolf? That's a surprise! She really had no idea!
She asks you all sorts of questions. Ooh she can become a wolf maybe you two can communicate better in her beast shape!
There is some sadness that you didn't trust her to let her know, but she also knows how some people react to shapeshifters.
So she understands why you hid it. But if you have any other big secrets then she wants to know!!
Percy
He hopes you don't shed everywhere. It's taken a while to clean up the castle, werewolf fur would be more annoying to clean.
Percy doesn't mind that you're a werewolf. Honestly with all the personal crap everyone has, it's good that you can add to the mix.
Could keep his ears open for some kind of cure if that's something you want. Really as long as you're able to control your shapeshifting then he isn't too worried.
If it ends up raining or something then he gladly makes the, "What smells like wet dog?" joke just to annoy you.
Pike
Uh you being a werewolf is so badass S/O!
Being able to become a beast and just wreck your enemies? So freaking cool! You have her and Grog cheering you on!
Is a bit worried about if it hurts when you shapeshift. I mean your body does change quite a bit and she's heard some cracking before.
Offers you lots of healing just in case you're transformation hurts too much. Will make sure you have plenty of potions too even if you decline.
Vex
Really wishes you told her you were a freaking werewolf before you ended up shapechanging.
It freaked her out to hear your bones cracking and limbs expanding and now she knows why.
Her opinion of you hasn't changed, well she might be a bit upset that she wasn't told prior, but you're a werewolf. Werewolves are cool.
Might have to keep Grog from trying to get you to bite him, thinking it'd change him.
Vax
Realizes how easily you can destroy him as a werewolf and that's kind of hot to him.
Has wondered how often you really hold back in combat or just doing small things too.
Is it difficult for you to do things because your beast strength might come out or something? He has definitely kept a close eye on you trying to open a jar of pickles to see if it explodes.
Probably makes quite a few “moon” jokes around you just to try to get you to laugh or to teasingly annoy you. But hey, he loves you to the moon and back.

Okay what r ur thoughts on Percy and vexs kids i must know
Omg anon thanxxxx I have many thoughts. I don't know why i gave a few sentences for the de rolo siblings but for the kids you're getting a good chunky boi lol.
One thing is that I keep flip flopping whether or not they’re half-elves or quarter elves (as Vex has the blood of a full elf in her, they could be half elves in an interpretation of lore). I tend to just prefer half-elves so I know they’ll outlive Vex tbh though I am not wedded to the idea.
Vesper: She is the oldest child and acts like the oldest child. She loves Whitestone and as soon as she turns into a teenager she wants to rule. She feels a bond with Pelor as she's plane touched, and will often pray for her family's sake when they're going through difficult times, especially when her parents and aunt seem sad, lost, stuck in grief and trauma. She differs with Percy on this a lot, but she gets along well with both her parents, other than matters of Whitestone. She gets along well with Cassandra, who does eventually cut through to Vesper that she can't just give her whole life up to Whitestone at a young age, so I like to think she agrees and Vesper spends time in other cities learning and studying for a year or so, keeping close to Pelor's temples, but just feels homesick for Whitestone so would never leave long-term. Enjoys riding but doesn't enjoy the outdoors much and never liked hunting or anything to do with the grey hunt as a special force, and isn't physically inclined and only knows 'a few' offensive cleric spells. Men and women throw themselves at her feet with marriage proposals, not sure if she'd ever accept any.
Wolfe: Slightly older than Leona and proud of it. He is a smarmy lil boy who think he's the absolute shit, and think he's more charismatic than he actually is. Of all the siblings he wants the glory of being a hero like Vox Machina the most, and becomes a fairly good all-rounded fighter. However, despite being a bit of an apparent fuck-boi, he has a childhood sweetheart he marries early on.
Leona: More level-headed than her brother. She's less of adventurer and has Percy's tinkering spirit. Unlike Percy, she sits and talks his ear off when she's tinkering. She is very chatty and friendly. She loves building things mechanically but doesn't have the aversion to magic her father does. Bit more of a flirt than Wolfe, string of broken hearts behind her. I could see her moving away to help continue with the rebuilding of Emon when she's in her twenties.
Wolfe and Leona: Vex notes how as the pair are twins they're close, but they don't have that intense, dependent bond that she and Vax had, which is probably a good thing becaue these two grew up not needing to depend on each other. Unlike Vesper, both enjoyed the outdoors, exploring, the grey hunt. Both are far more extraverted. When they're adults, they decide to travel, and Leona keeps Wolfe in check. They join an adventuring party and do some good deeds (far more minor) EDIT AS I AM WRITING THIS WHAT IF THEY JOINED THE DARRINGTON BRIGADE??? like they become loyal members throughout their lives, they sometimes just join an adventure as a twin bonding exercise despite living apart.
Vax'ildan: They call him 'Dan.' A mumma's boy when he's young. Good with animals, the grey hunt makes him cry, and he becomes a vegetarian (at least for a period of time). Close with Auntie Keyleth and enjoys Zeprah a lot, I could see him joining the Ashari as a druidy boy. I think when he's young, because he's so close with Vex he just doesn't see much of his father. But as he gets older, he likes taking his textbooks on animals and nature into his father's workshop and quietly reading whilst his father works, enjoying the background noise his father makes whilst he creates. Both get that the other needs space (this quiet time is sometimes ruined by Leona, who eventually realises that she should maybe leave them alone), and Dan is close with both.
Gwendolyn: A little angel girl who just happens to look like a devil. When she's a baby she cries a lot and Percy soothes her better, I think because he had the pact with Ipkesh. Vex and Percy are honest with Gwen and the children (as their other kids could have a tiefling because of Percy) that Percy is the reason they have a tiefling BUT with the rest of Whitestone and visiting parties Vex is like 'yeah?? maybe it was me??? what of it??'. Whitestone accepts Gwendolyn as she is (said before but I think after everything that happened in whitestone, the people of whitestone would be quick to realise that tieflings are not a cause of evil or pain) and Gwen has a very peaceful, loving childhood. Still daddy's little girl growing up, but as she get's older she enjoys the grey hunt with her mother, and I just picture Gwen with a full body camoflage outfit on with only her eyes visible to give her the ability to blend in. She does enjoy combat sports a little, but is mostly 'dainty' and charming and friendly, Whitestone adore her. People start proposing marriage to her as well. Maybe she's a little chaotic and accepts a few, before ending them shortly after, but she would settle down and be adored by a loving partner. I think she could rule Whitestone in Cassandra's place on the council with Vesper--- I think Gwen would be a little naïve/easily swayed on her own, but would be a very dedicated ruler for the people and adored.

“lifting the other one up” do with that as you will :)
36: lifting the other one up
Percy's still more than a little bit in awe of it, honestly. Even before the Briarwoods there's a lot of things he didn't really think he'd get to have.
To be fair, some he hadn't really wanted, or at least hadn't cared to think on. He'd probably have been allowed to keep on tinkering, given his family standing, and he'd probably have been encouraged to marry at some point, for sake of the family and Whitestone's alliances, but he'd dabbled in the physical end of such endeavours when he was sixteen, just to see what all the fuss was about and then at least, it hadn't really struck him as worth all the effort. He'd been quite certain he'd be quite comfortable on his own for most of his life, or, if he did have to marry, he knew he'd endeavour to find someone amenable to the bare minimum required - or at least tolerable otherwise.
He'd never expected Vex. After the Briarwoods he'd barely expected to live; even when he'd escaped he hadn't expected to live long, and even once he'd chosen vengeance he knew there were good odds he'd die walking that path. All his old thoughts about possible futures fell by the wayside and even the idea of rebuilding the de Rolo name and family rather fell far down the list as a maybe, on the off chance I survive.
And then Vex had rather ensured he'd survived, and then, despite the things he'd done, she'd forgiven him, and he'd ended up in the middle before he'd even fully realised it'd quite begun and somehow, against all reason, so had Vex.
And now he lives out of her house more often than not, woken when she rises at the crack of dawn to head out on patrol, actually rising some hours later to begin work in the lovely little workshop she'd had constructed - for him, to include him, to make it clear that she wants him in her life and he doesn't think he'll ever quite be over that fact - and to eventually emerge at some point in the mid-to-late afternoon when he's reasonably sure Vex should be home and absolutely certain that he's absolutely starving and has probably missed a meal.
Such is how he emerges into the hallway to see it thoroughly festooned in holly and ivy, glossy dark leaves and a heavy bough of pine over the doorway to the dining room. Looking up, there's several sprigs of holly carefully pinned to the doorframe to the workshop - luckily there's no sign of mistletoe.
"Vex?" he calls, peering through another festooned doorway. He'd wonder how she got so much greenery, but then as head of the Grey Hunt Vex can wander as far afield in the Parchwoods as she pleases; she probably already knew where the best growths were and planned accordingly.
"In here, darling!"
He makes his way through to the living room where Vex is standing on her tip toes, trying valiantly to get a long, noodly sprig of ivy over the framed painting above the fireplace.
"Would you like a hand?" he asks dryly.
She glares at him for that, but there's enough laughter in her eyes he knows he's probably fine.
Vex isn’t short. She’s not the tallest of the group - no one but Grog really can be, given the barbarian’s absurd height, what do goliaths get fed to grow up so absurdly huge and strong? - but while she doesn't have Keyleth's beanpole height she's at the upper end of average height which he suspects is as much due to elven blood as to whatever she received from her mother. Syldor, Percy remembers, hadn't been all that tall.
"It's been years since I've helped with Winter's Crest decoration," he says, gently, less teasingly, more sincerely. "Would you like hand?"
She makes a few more valiant attempts, grunting as she jumps, but the momentum just makes the length of ivy become even more unwieldy.
"Yes please," she says and he hears the hint of gritted teeth. He knows very well how annoying it is to be defeated by greenery, and he can't help the sudden swell of fondness he feels. "Percy?" she says, when he hasn't moved. "Going to help- oh!"
It's possibly a bit of a show off stunt, lifting her up like this, letting her half-sit on his shoulder so her hair just grazes the ceiling but Vex is very nearly as dextrous as he is so he can't claim full credit for how well she balances. Carefully, to make sure they don't fall over, he steps closer to the fireplace.
"There we go," Vex says after a few moments, leaning a little against Percy's head as she reaches with both hands to adjust the sprig. "You can let me down now."
He could. He's going to. But for a moment he's quite happy to just look up at her face and be terribly happy they share their lives together.
1. Pick a prompt. 2. Send me the number. 3. I'll write a Perc'ahlia snippet.

Heyo! Saw you wanted some individual character requests! I'm a sucker for Grog, and there isn't enough out there for him, so I was wondering if you could do a Grog x Sorceress!reader where the reader doesn't think grog would have a reason to like her since she isn't a melee fighter. Thank you so much!
P.s. Your writing is amazing, and I always love reading your works! ❤️
Thank you for the request! I'm glad you like my writing and hope you enjoy this one! Turned out a bit longer than I intended but that means more content. Anyway, Enjoy! 😘
Seated on the stone balustrade feet dangling over the edge looking over the city in front of you you twiddle your thumbs. You needed a moment away from everyone to sort your mind on your own. There’s a solitude in the dark clouds looming above and the first drops of rain signalling an oncoming storm and it’s never failed you before. Even while there’s no one around, you can confide in such storms knowing your words will be heard but carried away upon the wind and drowned out by the rain and thunder. A good storm won’t judge or hold a grudge. It will simply accept and listen. So here you’ll stay speaking your worries into the abyss and hope for some clarity or ease of mind and heart.
Back inside Grog sits on one side of the table, Scanlan at the other. They hold their respective tankards at the ready as the gnome counts down. By the end of the countdown they swing back their drinks finishing them as fast as they can being cheered on by the rest of Vox Machina and other witnesses to this drinking game. Grog’s determined to win this. While he’s pretty sure his tankard is actually a bucket with a handle, it’s more to scale compared to the gnome’s. Ale spills over the sides of Scanlan’s drink but Grog keeps it neat. No wasting ale after all.
With one last big chug Grog finishes the drink, slams it down on the table roaring in victory as the table shakes beneath his hit. Scanlan puts the remainder of his drink down on the table wiping his face disappointed. Grog looks around the crowd. Some are happy celebrating with him, others pass over money to the happy people for paying up on whatever amount they lost in their bets. How could they even consider Scanlan would win. He’s the best of the best after all and no one can out drink the all mighty Grog. He doesn’t spot you among the crowd and the victory doesn’t feel as sweet anymore. He really hoped you could have seen this one. Where had you gone?
Before Grog can get up and go find you he’s given a refill and the next challenger approaches. New bets are placed, Vex massages his shoulders giving him a pep talk and noting how he’s been making her a lot of money so better keep it up. He doesn’t want to disappoint his friends. One more game. Then he’ll go find you wherever you went.
The next game comes along, and another, and another but he’s done. No more games. When another challenger approaches and the game starts he doesn’t pick up the tankard and pushes away from the table. People ask him what the hell he’s doing but he ignores them. They’ve kept him long enough so he just up and walks before they can stop him. Grog leaves the room but Pike follows behind him worried for her buddy. He never refuses a good ale or a challenge, let alone the two combined.
“Grog? Grog, wait up!” Pike rushes after him leaving the banquet hall behind. Determined Grog still keeps walking but slows down his pace enough to let Pike catch up with him.
“Where are you going? There’s still plenty of ale to be drunk!” Pike reaches for the goliath’s hand to pull him to a stop. He does and turns to face Pike.
“I think I’ve had enough.” Grog says and Pike gasps. Never, never does Grog think he’s had enough to drink. Something must be wrong with him. Is he ill? Does he have a fever? Did someone poison her buddy’s drink? She might go on a war path if someone did and ruined his fun! But Grog seems okay. Physically that is. He’s fine.
“Do you know where she went?” Grog asks, maybe Pike can help him find you and maybe she can talk to you why you left. He doesn’t think you’d want to talk to him about that kind of stuff and while he’d consider himself a good listener, if something’s really up Pike always knows what to do. She can help.
“Who?”
“The pretty sorceress.” Grog states as a matter of fact and it is. Anyone who dares say otherwise clearly need some of those glass thingies Percy keeps on his nose and make him look smart.
“Oh, I don’t know Grog. She left to go get some fresh air.” Pike searches her mind to see where you might have gone. There’s a few places that come to mind but it’s all narrowed down to just the one when thunder rumbles through the sky. She knows exactly where you went and by the looks of it so does Grog.
Grog knows there’s only one place you really love to watch a storm unfold. You’ve told him before and you’ve even watched some storms together there. He shares a look with Pike and picks up his step going where he knows you’ll be, still dragging pike behind. When she doesn’t move fast enough he swings her up on his shoulders, running up the steps as far as they’ll take him, dodging a torch and pushing aside a guard here and there.
Then around the corner he sees you. Feet dangling over the edge, a single push away from what could possibly be a death drop, hand outstretched catching the rain with a sad smile on your face. You’re absolutely gorgeous. More alluring than anyone ever could. If he could paint, Grog would make sure this moment would be captured for eternity just so he would never forget. Maybe he can get some money from Vex to hire a painter? If Scanlan did it, why shouldn’t he?
You’re seated alone at the top of the tower. Lightning flashes through the clouds, sometimes branching down to strike the ground be it mountain or forest, you’re in a valley of safety surrounded by the storm. The drops of rain hit your outstretched arm extended beyond the cover of the overhanging. Cold as they are to the touch you watch them glide around your arm with movement until they too, continue their descend.
“…Sometimes I wish I would just have the courage but I don’t.” You speak into the skies. A burst of lightning strikes in the mountains, the sound echoing and even this high up you can feel the slight tremor of the ground. You know a storm is no sentient being but you read it like a reply no less and continue.
“I’m not a fighter. I don’t know how to wield a sword or an axe. I can barely lift one. We have such vastly different lives. Grog’s got no reason to like me in any way.” Thunder strikes again you smile briefly. You’ve come to terms you’ll always like Grog and your feelings wouldn’t be reciprocated. The only reason you’re even spending time together in the first place is because you’re both involved with Vox Machina in one way or another. You’ve got hardly anything in common so if you hadn’t met through them Grog probably wouldn’t even have thought about you twice.
That may sound sad and you’re thankful for getting to know him but Grog has his own life and interests so why should he bother indulging you in yours. He’s already not a big fan of magic and you won’t bother attempting to teach him. It’s not like it’s any interesting stuff and he’d probably be bored out of his mind the entire time. Then again, the theoretics of magic might just not be your strong suit either. It’s more of a natural born gift.
Grog gets this weird feeling in his chest as if he’s been hit by something and it’s being twisted. Kind of like when he got shot by an arrow and Pike had to remove it. It’s not a good feeling. Checking for injury just to make sure he’s fine. It’s clear to him he feels this on the inside; his heart bleeds a little for you. You shouldn’t think that way. He likes you. He likes you a lot actually so you couldn’t be more wrong. Pike nudges him to set her down. He does as they remain around the corner, leaving you unaware of their presence.
“Go talk to her.” Pike whispers and Grog panics for a brief second. How is he even supposed to do this? What is he supposed to say? He doesn’t know how this psychology stuff works. That’s what Pike’s for. If people feel sad they often come to her, talk about their worries and problems and then they feel better. How’s he supposed to do that? He’s not Pike.
“She needs you, Grog. I know you like her and she needs you. Go talk to her.” Pike nudges him on into your direction. The goliath isn’t physically moved by her effort but he does move. If Pike says you need him, if you really need him then he’ll be there. Looking over his shoulder one last time to ask Pike for some advise she’s already half way down the stairs leaving you with him. Grog thinks hard for a moment but thinking isn’t his strong suit either so he’ll do what he always does; face the problem head on.
A throat clears behind you and you almost slip from the fright it gave you. A heavy step rushes forward and an arm wraps around your waist pulling you back before you can fall. You’d have spells to save you in case you did fall but you’d rather not and are grateful for your valiant saviour. The bare arm wrapped around your waist is covered in tattoos, markings and scars and engulfs the majority of your middle. It doesn’t take a fool to know this arm belongs to Grog Strongjaw himself.
Flustered you allow the goliath to pull you back onto solid ground and off the balustrade entirely before he lets go of you, making sure you’re right on your feet. How much of your conversation with the skies did he hear? Did he hear anything at all? Grog steps back and stares at his boots. He doesn’t only appear to be more embarrassed than you feel but also apologetic.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you. Please don’t fall again and please don’t be angry at me.” Grog closes his eyes tightly afraid you might be mad at him as he was the cause of you almost experiencing a death drop. You’re basically gods but if we’ve learned anything from Keyleth; that doesn’t save you from a splat.
You step forward grab one of his hands in yours drawing his attention. With your index finger you tilt his chin up just enough so he’s looking at you and not over you. These gestures are enough for Grog to open his eyes. When there’s no look of anger on your face the tension in his body falls away just slightly. There’s still some rigidness from nerves but he’s closer to usual Grog.
“Chin up, big guy. You saved me too. I’m not mad.” You smile and the smile is returned. The air is still somewhat awkward so you decided you best get this over with and clear it up.
“How much did you hear?” You ask. The blush rushing to Grog’s cheeks and frantic glancing around to make sure no one else is here to witness it tells you he heard enough.
With a deep sigh you step back to the balustrade sitting down upon it once more but now to face Grog instead of the sky, your hair blowing lightly in the breeze, the rain and occasional illuminated sky behind you leave him staring yet again forgetting your question. He’s just captivated but you calling his name snaps him out of it. Saved it. Still got it. As long as he doesn’t turn to ‘drunk Keyleth’ levels he’ll consider it a win.
“I-uhhhh…. Why don’t you think I like you?” Grog twiddles his thumbs rocking back and forth from his tiptoes to his heels in anticipation of your answer. He knows he heard you tell the sky but he wants to be sure because if he gave you any reason to believe he didn’t like you, he did do something wrong. He’ll pick you over any of those other fools down stairs. He might just even pick you over the best ale. He’d already picked you over the ale he’d been offered. If that isn’t testament to his fondness of you, then what is?
“Ah, so you did hear that. I just- I think-. Ugh, why is this so hard?” You try to express your reasons but words are difficult and feelings even more so to describe yet still you try. Grog waits patiently either way.
“Do you think we would have been friends were it not for our lives being tied together as they are now?” You ask the dreaded question. You don’t even know if you really want the answer afraid that it may break any semblance of hope you had somewhere in your mind. Grog’s brow furrows, deep in thought but mostly confusion.
“Of course we would be. Why wouldn’t we?”
“Because I’m not like you. I’m not a fighter. I stay back with my spells and incantations while you run in axe swinging taking down anyone in your path. I read while you train. I sit around in my tower watching the skies while you go out and drink the town dry looking for a fight to enjoy. I could never do what you do and I do not dare to assume you’d have any interest in doing what I do.” The thoughts and feelings find words. A tension lifts from your chest like a breath you didn’t know you were holding just by speaking your mind to the goliath in question.
Grog knows damn well you’re not a fighter in the traditional sense. No steel or arrows for you but that does not mean you’re not a fighter in your own right. If he’s learned anything a fighter comes in many shapes and forms and you fit the description perfectly. You’ve shown determination and strength, courage against all odds and immense skill. You are a fighter.
“When I run into danger kicking ass who’s had my back every time?” Grog asks. There’s a harshness and authority in his voice indicating he’s leading somewhere and you better answer.
“We all have-“ Grog cuts you off.
“No. You have had my back every time.” He corrects. “Who comes watch me train, throwing spells to keep me on my toes? Who does it while reading her books completing not one but two tasks at the same time?”
“I do.” You admit.
“And who helps me kick ass in bar fights? Who cheers me on or joins me in any gamble or drinking game? Who is the best drinking buddy? You are. Now, who spends time with you watching storms whenever they occur up here in the tower or anywhere else?”
“You… do…” Grog’s right.
“I like to spend time with you because I like you. I don’t care you don’t swing an axe. That firestorm you do works just the same and looks way more badass. I’m not the smartest but I know two of the same are not always useful and can be too much. What are you going to do with two when you only need one. You need difference so they compitry- complitarity- colmpli-“ Grog struggles with that word. He’s heard Percy use it in a similar context but why is it such a difficult word to recall. He still tries and just hopes you’ll get what he’s trying to say.
“Complimentary?” You ask. You fear Grog might get himself a migraine if he tries any harder. You still don’t think that’s the correct use of the word but you get it. He’s trying to lift your spirits and it’s working.
“That one. Yes. Complimentary. I don’t just like you, I love you for who you are. You’re special and being different makes you special.” Grog admits he tries to fight the heat rising to his cheeks from admitting what he did but when he sees your smile grow, that’s enough to push his pride aside and let it be. Maybe he can do this thing Pike usually does after all? Maybe not unless it’s you. When he tells you he loves you he means it. When he has to say it to the likes of Vax he’d rather eat his own boots for lunch.
You gesture with your hand and beckon the goliath over to come closer. You rise to stand on the edge of the balustrade and wrap your arms around Grog’s neck holding him close. You feel his arms wrap around you in turn and pull you closer to where your feet barely touch the stone.
“Thank you. You have no idea how much that means to me.” You pull back to look Grog in the eyes as he still holds onto you and take his cheeks between your hands giving him a quick kiss. Grog’s eyes light up and lifts you up higher offering you a kiss of his own. Sweet and short and filled with glee. He sets you back down on your feet but doesn’t let go of you yet.
“Do you want to go back downstairs? Last I checked there was a drinking game going on? Should we show them what we’re made off?” You grin and the proud look on Grog’s face tells you enough to know exactly what you’re talking about.
“Let me tell you the tale of my grand victories-“ Grog starts as he begins leading you back down the stairs, arm wrapped around your shoulders pulling you into his side as you walk.

hiii <3 oh man i haven't sent an ask in a while (i've missed it) but that whole teacher au! i love it! Vex teaching elvish is so good! maybe she could also teach economics? It also immediately made me think of Abbot Elementary ,which I don't know if you've watched but I def recommend, it's a great workplace mockumentary about teachers in an elementary school and I really love it
And like, there are two characters who will def get together eventually and he def has a crush on her already, and right now you can see them getting closer to each other, and there was a scene in the most recent ep with him making a special knock on the wall cause their classrooms are adjacent and she realizes it's him and comes out to the hallway and they talk for a bit? I could def see Percy and Vex doing something like esp as you said they share a door (and I Love him pretending to run out of supplies so he can talk to her) And like, something they tackle a lot on the show and obviously happens a lot irl is how underfunded schools are and how they have to make do when stuff gets broken and they can't fix it right away cause Budget Issues and not having enough supplies etc... and it makes me think about Percy definitely helping out Vex, maybe fixing some stuff for her? And she in turn gets him some decorations for his classroom and makes sure he gets lunch and doesn't overwork himself too much? ohh and just. spending time grading papers together. oh man I love teacher aus Also. hmm. Allura either as the principal or as a more senior teacher there? (Kima could also be a more senior teacher there or something, and it's that thing where they don't tell anyone they're married but also don't hide it and one day one of them says it nonchalantly and vm are all like. :o) And maybe Tary comes as a sub when Scanlan takes a sabbatical eventually to spend more time with Kaylie (ohh maybe Kaylie confronts him at school for the first time?), and eventually stays with them permanently? Cause Vex and Tary and Percy besties is vital to every AU i think And maybe Gilmore teaches theatre? or does all the customes and stuff. or both oh this is making me think many thoughts and I haven't had AU thoughts for vm in a while so this got really long, oops
BROOO first of all I missed you, but second of alllll this is so amazing (and I love abbot elementary)
I truly have nothing to add holy shit this is all amazing!

(Not necessarily a sequel, but it is based off my request in that the reader does NOT understand people)
Percy, Scanlan, Vex, and Vax dealing with the consequences of their S/O who doesn't understand how humanoid society works. To the point they think raising ideas family is a good idea, but this time it's some other misunderstanding of what the character wants that would not cause the same reaction.
(Consequences examples for inspiration: suddenly being gifted a head, being run out of town because the guards are now all pink, and having a dragon over for tea time)
Definitely going to take a more comedic approach to this for you!!
.
Percy
Him being gifted a human head isn't the worst thing to happen. Of course he doesn't like it and will remark as such. He'd much prefer just the skull.
Is amazed by how much you don't understand about common fucking sense. Sure you can claim not experienced with humans, but he doubts even lizardfolk would do half the things you attempt.
Definitely going to just sit you down in Whitestone library with like stacks of books that talk about etiquette and all that bullshit so you can read how to behave in public society.
I mean, some days you get amusement from him with things you do/say but it becomes exhausting quick. He might care about you but he's done bailing you out of jail.
Percy just turns your relationship into My Fair Lady because he's exhausted of having to hold your hand to keep you from doing dumb stuff.
Scanlan
Very very confused with things you do. Like you mentioned not knowing how to act with certain things and he said he'd help you, but this is not what he was expecting.
I mean you bringing him human heads? This is gross. Please don't do this. Stop.
He definitely tells you flowers or chocolates are a lot better as gifts. Where did you even get these heads from? Never mind, he doesn't want to know.
Pink guards are super funny, but being run out of town is not. Maybe you should leave the sneaking to the twins instead because his persuasion can only do so much.
Scanlan has some bad experiences with dragons so let's not invite any of them to tea. Dragonborns, however, he'd happily sit and chat with them over tiny muffins.
Vax
He was mostly "raised" rich so he has stupid etiquette lessons burned into his brain that he's going to start teaching you.
Might sit you down and ask you honestly, "Do you give a shit about anyone?" Because not understanding humans is understandable to him, but if you just don't care then he's not going to try to help you.
I mean you think a good present are body parts. He's not Doctor Frankenstein, what's he going to do with that? Not to mention, you might've harmed an innocent person that has a family.
Some things he finds amusing while others he really doesn't. So he wants to actually sit down and talk with you to hopefully prevent more fuckshit from happening.
Having tea with dragons is an improvement in his opinion. No body was harmed in this (he hopes), not to mention even children would find something like this okay.
Vex
Well her favorite enemy are dragons so if you insist on this dragon coming to tea then at least she’ll have some kind of advantage...
She finds the whole thing less amusing than her brother, but there are moments when you’ll say something really funny that offends someone else.
She would love to introduce you to her father just for you to tear him a new one without meaning to. Vex also would want him to see just how disappointed he could truly be.
Vex is also genuine worried though when body parts become involved in your gift giving. Sure some people might like bones as presents, not something with skin that's still decaying.
If anyone asks about your shenanigans then she'll state they're interesting quirks of yours. She wants this relationship to work but knows she'll have to scold you like a child from time to time.
