I can ask Dumbledore if you like, he penned, the smirk tilting his lips at odds with the seemingly innocent words. He knows loads of magic.
Riddle’s response appeared quickly, slightly crooked in its haste.
No, he wrote. There’s no need to disturb a professor with this. I’m certain your assistance will be more than enough.
Harry chuckled lightly, pushing a hand to his lips in surprise at the sound. He knew he shouldn’t be playing with Riddle like this, but the opportunity was simply too good to resist. Besides, winding him up when he was in such a helpless state appealed to something in Harry, something made helpless and powerless by the man this boy would one day become.
The diary couldn't possess him, he reasoned. What was the worst that could happen?
The worst that could happen, Harry discovered, was becoming attached. Tom was clever and rude and charming all at once. And while his snide remarks were hardly noticable if you weren’t paying very close attention, Harry had practice telling when he was being mocked. He had grown up with the Dursley’s, after all.

14 years old, only like a month into being spider-man, peter takes down a mugger and the guy is cursing peter out and peter just calmly says "i'm fourteen" and watches this dude have a crisis
"no you're not"
"i literally am. did you not hear my voice cracking every two seconds? pretty sure i only started going through puberty last week"
"you're lying"
"believe what you want"
"why would you tell me that if it's true"
"because no one will believe you and i think that's funny. also i want you to know that you just lost to a freshman in high school. even if you don't believe me, you can't prove that i'm lying. this is never going to leave your brain. i won the physical fight and now i'm playing with psychological warfare. and i called the cops. anyways, bye!"
mugger gets arrested and is like "no seriously i swear to god he was in these like red and blue pajamas and had a mask and goggles and he said he was fourteen and psychological warfare and-"

Panel one has a view into Kakashi's bedroom from just outside the open window. We look over the bed where Tenzō's Anbu mask is resting and past the flapping curtain, and see the spot where Kakashi and Tenzō are sitting. Tenzō, still crouched by the side of Kakashi's bed, is mostly hidden aside from the top of his head.
Kakashi is sitting with a loose, tired posture, looking wryly out the open window.
"And then you came to my apartment, " Kakashi says. "Maybe it felt safe and secluded enough to have your breakdown in. Which is flattering, but to be fair, my wards are usually immaculate."
The second panel, they are sitting, knees touching knees, facing each other. Kakashi's eyes are closed, like he's trying to force a smile, but not succeeding very well. He has one arm wrapped around himself.
Tenzō is leaning forward towards Kakashi, eyebrows low over his eyes.
"But I didn't plan—I didn't choose to do this, to feel this," Tenzō argues.
"Who would?" Kakashi asks.
He continues, "The only drawback of having trust, of having a place to be vulnerable, is that sometimes you'll have to be vulnerable in it, I guess. Hurts, huh?"

Same Anon as Yesterday (Food pun anon) and I just wanna say something I personally think is missing from Rio’s arc, that I think is important.
So largely, I’m speaking from my own experience as a twin, where me and the twin were really codependent and I was definitely the more docile of the twins. What really helped me with my own personal inferiority complex was making the choice to step out of her shadow. Even though I wasn’t born talented at the things I chose to focus on, the fact that I had chosen to set out and do it on my own left me feeling proud and fulfilled.
To me, Rio makes this choice by becoming Julio, only to step back into her shadow (aka his comfort zone) after his redemption. His friends are her friends, his hobby is her hobby. In a way it’s like, regression rather than development.
I think Rio really should have found something that he’s passionate about that Ciel isn’t, and made some friends that care about that same passion. I don’t think he needs to stop being passionate about baking, but I think he should’ve tried to find something that makes him feel unique. He needs friends that care for him not because he’s Ciels twin, but because he’s Rio.
I’ve came up with various headcanons over the years to deal with this, from giving him a set of new friends, to him becoming more of a business kinda guy when they grow up. Like Ciel is the creative one who literally doesn’t understand the first thing about running a business and Rio is the manager who makes sure the patisserie they run doesn’t spontaneously explode or smth. If I recall, WV Rio likes sports as a hobby (might’ve hallucinated that, it’s been a minute) and I really wish canon had expanded on that, or his other talents. Because I think that would’ve been a much more satisfying way to end his arc.
food anon you're so right. my hottest take of all is that at the end of the series rio still isn't in a healthy mindset because he's put right back into the same situation that caused him to spiral in the first place except ciel compliments him sometimes and i don't think that's a great ending. when writing waffleverse i always ask myself "who is (pov character)?" and once i moved out of rio's julio era and his corporated mandated post-redemption angst i realized i had no fucking idea because postcoma rio just. Exists. he's ciel's brother and he's kinda grumpy and he feels bad about what he did as julio and that's about all you can say about him. he is unfortunately the hardest character for me to write because of that

I don't believe I ever posted this? This was earlier in Pandora's conception, though this goes hard enough for me to want to keep it intact within the lore. I feel as though I've made him softer in recent to emphasize his guilt, but it impacts his actual capacity for harm—which very much does exist—as a result. I need to revisit her harmful tendencies of repressed resentment and anger in more depth than I have so far...

I love Crossroads for the simple fact that it's basically slapping you with an illustration of how easily humans can change and how fragile even the strongest of them are deep inside but framing it as two high schoolers getting a metaphorical divorce. And even that I can't really make fun of because Rei and Keito were both lowkey screaming out to the other for help that the other couldn't give (Rei just wanting some peace, someone to actually look at him as an equal, but instead deciding to betray Keito; Keito sincerely just wanting to help out a friend and make the school better but being manipulative about it). And I really am glad it cut to the present to show that they eventually found the people that they needed back then, even if it took a while for the relationship as a whole to get there.

sunshine's parents were so cartoonishly evil lmao. he grew up in a sort of stereotypical 70s middle class suburban lifestyle w/ a mom and dad and his sisters but his family made him the scapegoat for absolutely EVERYTHING. if something went wrong or if they were late or if somebody died etc if one of his sisters got bad grades, he was the one blamed for everything while his sisters were both the golden children who had a great relationship with their parents and could never imagine them being abusers. Meanwhile sunshine's life was like an actual horror movie. his sister's just genuinely believed that he was an annoying problematic kid and that everything really was his fault (which is also what he believed as a kid. and to an extent that mindset is still part of him today. that everything bad is his responsibility)
anyway...... idk abuse narratives are just weird and to say that abuse "didn't happen" bcuz siblings had different experiences or deny the claims is ridiculous. or that it COULDNT happen because no abusers are that cartoonishly evil. like yes they are lmao. that type of abuse absolutely can happen, there's a million different types of trauma and abuse and a million different ways that it can affect you as you grow up!!!! sunshine got the short end of that stick tbh!!!!!!
