it's extremely critical that you see the photo of the perp walk for luigi mangione as being propaganda. i've seen so many people wave it off and instead fawn over his looks. and trust me, i know it ended up being kind of pathetic and weird - but please don't brush it off as a "modelling opportunity" for him. it's a fucking terrifying message the police are sending.

i want to make a few comparisons here, in case you're not from the US or familiar with why the perp walk thing is something to pay attention to. just to set the groundwork for why this is a purposeful, unusual, and cruel act by the nyc police - for why this is not a common occurrence and for why that matters.

the prosecution alleges the show of force is due to the charge of "terrorism." for comparison, in june 2015, tsarnaev was found guilty for the boston marathon bombing, which killed 3 people and injured hundreds. his actions are considered to be an act of domestic terrorism. i have spent the last hour looking through google for pictures of similar to mangione's perp walk - and so far, i have found zero. i also just do not personally remember a moment like that, despite living in boston at the time.

they allege that luigi is a stone-cold killer who carried out a longterm plan, making him particularly dangerous. again for comparison: in nyc, recently cory martin was found guilty of the killing of brandy odom. the murder was planned and premeditated to steal insurance money. and yet no staged perp walk. why didn't her life matter enough for a "show of force"?

but mangione gets paraded by a veritable army of police officers as if he is a rabid animal. for a single citizen who allegedly killed one other single citizen, the "largest perp walk ever" occurs.

so what is the "strong message" that the mayor and the police were trying to send here? the mayor speaks as if mangione is already convicted of terrorism. there is a very thin number of people who feel threatened by the CEO's death. none of us felt like mangione needs to be under massive armed guard.

the message is that you shouldn't resist. they are trying to "make an example" of him - that if you behave badly and kill a single rich person, you'll be treated as if you killed hundreds of people. you will be treated worse than a man who was found guilty of terrorism. you will be considered guilty without trial. the message is that the rich are a protected class, and you cannot touch them without massive punishment. they are trying to prevent a revolution by showing dominance and force against you.

the message is that the police are a puppet of the wealthy and that the law is not equally applied across class disparity. it is "some are more equal than others." it is "one life is more precious than another."

the show of force wasn't for luigi. it was for us. it was a warning. they are trying to remind us who is really in control.

gale's reaction to mystra telling him to blow himself up is obviously heartbreaking but on the other hand it is deeply DEEPLY hilarious when Gale, Learned professor of renown, is like "if there was another way to defeat the absolute don't you think the goddess of magic would have thought of it" and the band of badly socialized half-feral murder children he's running with just go "well maybe the goddess of magic is stupid, gale"

Mr. Fenton is a competent teacher. Almost too competent.

If Mr. Daniel Fenton had any more than a BS (with a minor in education), Tim would’ve flagged his profile as a potential Rogue. That’s the way of most charismatic academics, at least in Gotham. (Got a PhD? Instant watchlist.) Instead, he’s Gotham Academy’s newest celebrity, as a young, passionate, out-of-towner substitute while the chemistry teacher’s on maternity leave.

Tim gets the hype. Fenton seems to genuinely love teaching, and is invested in the welfare of the student body. He hands out bananas during exam week, hosts a “study habits seminar” each month to coach effective learning strategies, and the third time Tim falls asleep in his class, he even pulls Tim aside to ask if he’s doing okay. With all the late work he accepts and the protein bars he sneaks Tim, he’s every teen vigilante’s dream teacher. He could’ve been Tim’s favorite.

In fact, Mr. Fenton was Tim’s favorite. Up until Tim walks into Mr. Fenton’s chemistry classroom for a forgotten textbook, an hour after the final bell.

On the board where tallied scores for today’s review game had been kept, “THE CHEMISTRY BEHIND DR. CRANE’S FEAR GAS: ANXIOGENICS, NERI’S, & YOU,” is now scrawled. A detailed diagram of the human endocrine system projects in front of a small crowd of adoring and attentive students.

Fenton is wrist-deep in the skull cavity of an anatomical model. A short tug, and out pops the brain.

It’s plastic. It’s fake.

Tim identifies the nearest emergency exit.

Fenton turns to the door, and in the dark classroom with the projector illuminating half his face, his eyes almost seem to flash red. “What’s up, Tim?” he asks. His friendly grin is too big for his face. “I didn’t know you wanted to join the Just Science League!”

[OR: Danny’s a science teacher at Tim’s school. Gotham’s a pretty wild place, even for someone who grew up a superhero in a ghost-infested town, so he takes it upon himself to start a club teaching kids how to manage themselves in the event of a crisis. These Gothamites are pretty hardy, but a little extra training never hurt anybody! And he suspects one of his students might be a teen vigilante, like he’d been, back in the day. As a senior super, it's Danny’s duty look out for him! Surely, this is the subtlest and most appropriate way to give the kid pointers.]

vampire gaz that likes to sit you on his lap when he feeds from you. hands on your hips, thumbs rubbing softly over the skin he finds there. nose in the crook of your neck, intoxicated by the smell of your blood lingering just beneath the thin stretch of skin. your body knows he's a predator, knows you should run. but you're nothing but a fawn in his grasp, teeth at your neck, and you're addicted to the way it feels when he sinks them into your flesh, splits you open with fire and venom, makes you warm and pliant in his hold. you never thought being fed from would feel so good, a certain sort of calm overtaking you as he drinks, slipping deeper into him the more he takes from you. you let him, fingers curling weakly into the fabric of his shirt, trusting he knows his limits.

you don't even realize you've fallen unconscious until you wake in his bed, blood smearing his mouth as he unlatches from where he bit into your thigh. the throb of the mark is nothing compared to the embarrassing need between your legs, wet and warm and wanting. he smirks like the devil as he crawls over your body on one hand, the other going to his belt as he settles between your legs.

"don't worry, darling," he rasps, throat thick with your blood and eyes dark as the night, "i'll take care of you next."

One of my favourite parts of The Wigmaker Job is at the beginning when a Venatori mage tries to sneak up on the Dellamortes in an inn before said Job and Lucanis stabs him, knocks him out, waits for Illario to securely tie the unconscious mage to a chair, and then when the guy wakes up Lucanis just immediately kills him. And Illario is just standing there like why did you wait for me tie him up so securely if you were just going to kill him jfc Lucanis

And it happens again when they talk about getting into the Wigmaker's party and Lucanis says something along the lines of "we were never going to just walk in through the front door" and Illario is like then why the fuck did you let me spend all this time and money on my outfit????

SCARED!!!! bc so far we got Lilia and Sebek in the beginning book 7.... so at the end.... so we're missing story Silver... and Malleus is the one with less cards, so they might add one for him... but... the tears... ego.... YES I am ALSO like...90-95% convinced that we're going to be getting a story card for Silver once we wrap around back to diasomnia. 👀 especially because the way things are going, Silver will be the only character whose dream we haven't seen -- yet???? -- and that just. y'know. makes me wonder!

although I do think it would be VERY funny if he got a story card and the groovy was just "regular Silver except with one beautiful single crystal tear". this is actually a lot coming from him.

(he used up all his emotion yelling at a baby that one time, there's none left for a proper groovy-level cry.)

catharsis (artist statement under the cut, read before reblogging)

i started this drawing to fill a niche. i’ve seen plenty of fanmade (and now canon) material of bill’s statue being vandalized or beat up on, but never so far as to damage it to the point of being unrecognizable. there were some very strong and specific feelings that drove the making of this piece, but ultimately they boiled down to my own personal need to see bill’s statue utterly destroyed by the one person who deserves it the most.

my coloring process was very dynamic- i didn’t have a set idea in mind for how i wanted the colors or lighting to look and most of my artistic decisions were made intuitively. by the end i’d subconsciously decided to set the scene to be very early in the morning, which is more fitting than i originally thought it would be; that and ford’s sweaty clothes and skin convey (i hope) that he’s been out in the woods alone all night, with the privacy to rage, yell, cry, whatever he needs to do to get his pain out as he turns what is left of his abuser into dust.

i don’t often write long statements like this to go with my art, and some of the above commentary i normally might have put in the tags, but in this case i wanted my thoughts and intent to be inseparable from the art itself. also forgive me if my writing sounds a bit disjointed, sometimes i have a hard time putting my thoughts into words

every so often i have to relearn how to draw yuuji or he starts fighting me
