"That's probably the most unsettling part of things; not the tadpole, not the memory loss, not the outbursts of nigh-insatiable bloodlust... I'm still favored by something, someone, and I have no idea who. The blessings feel strange in my hands; familiar to hold but the balance is all wrong, like swinging a real sword after using training weapons all your life. Or maybe the other way around, like being handed a blunted knife after doing something stupid with the real thing. No fucking idea who I swore my oath to. But I know that oath like my own heartbeat; blood for blood, justice for the weak, and vengeance where justice turned a blind eye. When I feel the divine burning through my hands, it never feels the same twice. A different hand on my shoulder every time, but it's always Death. Death as rebirth, death as rest, death as justice, death as dispassionate inevitability... And death as hunger.
Doing @catbatart's RPG Inktober challenge and knocking out a twofer with Days 1&2 - Dwarf and Paladin. I'm gonna be on and off on this one, this is the first thing I've drawn since mid august last year, so I figure that'll be safer for my wrist and/or sanity. But I'm planning to try and knock out 10-15 out of all 31, which is still pretty ambitious for me.
Folks who've been following me since the olden days of Fallout 4 might recognize Maya Acerbi under the beard and edgelord coat of paint she's gotten as my Dark Urge playthrough character for Baldur's Gate 3. Everyone else has their cool, mysterious, catlike Durge characters, and then there's me with a crusty old dwarf woman who by the end of every day looks like she got dragged backwards through a bush and then rolled in mud and/or blood that might even be hers.
#answers to questions nobody asked#my art#my ocs#maya acerbi#baldur's gate 3#bg3#bg3 durge#if you asked me about the broken sword I could go on about the symbolism regarding a dark urge character essentially being a broken weapon#and how it's reflected in the divine smite channeled through a broken sword and in the broken up silhouette on the moon looming over her#but those are conclusions I came to about 12 hours after I finished the piece and went 'fuck it. good enough'#because the facial scarring got frustrating#the real answers there are. one. 'i'm bad at drawing the moon'#and two. she's absolutely the type to keep swinging a busted sword until even the gods themselves are like 'okay you should probably chill'#and then keep going#inktober#art challenge#if folks have played durge and know what they're looking for hopefully they'll see the couple little hints there#if not then whatever I'm still happy with the textures and that goddamn chainmail#long post#as always folks. likes are alright but reblogs mean i will swear my fealty to you

OC Kiss Week - 2
feat. @mypunkpansexualtwin’s Maya ;w;
liberosis - the desire to care less about things
He isn’t the first child she’s rescued, and she’s sure he won’t be the last - she keeps insisting that she doesn’t want this responsibility, but then she sees another kid and can’t just leave them there or leave them to figure things out on their own. They’re just a kid - they deserve better than this, and she can at least give them that, even if she doesn’t know what the fuck she’s doing. They’re always skittish, or angry, or sometimes they’re just unresponsive by the time she gets them home. Maya can’t say she blames them - being abducted and sold on the black market is a fate worse than death, especially for these kids whose only crime was being born incorrect.
This kid has scars all over his body, a fresh cut across his face. He can’t be older than 9 or 10, but he’s so scrawny that it’s hard to tell. She’d found him at a black market auction going on in Zaqqar - the sprawling city located around the mouth of the River Nazir. The port city made it a popular trade site for the skinners that made their living off the trading of supernaturals, alive or dead. That, combined with the fact that beyond the city limits for miles were nothing but blistering red sand dunes in any direction that wasn’t towards the water made it a hotspot for the flesh trade.
Not that it was as big as the market in Talmeria to the south, but they tried to vary where they struck to avoid getting caught by the people who almost certainly had taken out hits on the two of them and their connections.
The place they’ve claimed as a safehouse is little more than a rundown apartment in the middle of the slums, but it’s better than the cage they’d found him in. The handler who had been advertising him said that he was a lycan, though she’s not entirely sure how accurate that is. Lycans are often sold young and raised as assassins and bodyguards for the uber rich - a better fate than some supernaturals run into, for sure, but still terrible. Especially considering the fact that it’s more of a disease than anything else that leaves the bearer in constant pain, even outside of the cycle of the moon.
The kid hasn’t said a word since they got him back here, and she wonders if he even knows Common. His skin is pale and his eyes are thin - she wonders if he’s from one of the nomadic tribes of the plains down south. He could also be Xiao, in which case she would be surprised if he understood them when they spoke.
Still, she has to try.
“Hey.”
The kid blinks, eyes coming to hers with a flicker of recognition.
“You got a name?”
For a minute, she doesn’t get any kind of reaction from him, and she worries that maybe he really doesn’t understand - or maybe he just doesn’t want to talk - but just as she sighs, going to return to figuring out their next movements, a quiet, rough little voice answers her.
“Li.”
Maya turns, finding the kid looking down at his own dirty, scabbed hands. “What’s that?”
“Li,” he repeats, firmer now. He looks up to meet her gaze, and there’s fire there, a spark that she hadn’t seen all night. “My name is Li.”
“You speak Common?”
He nods, wringing his hands. “Yeah…”
She nods, sighing softly as she glances over to where her partner is guarding the door. Alaric just looks at her for a moment, and then darts his gaze back to the poor boy. She doesn’t know what they’re going to do with him, so she just asks the next question that comes to her mind.
“Do you know where your parents are? Were you taken from them? Can we bring you to them?”
To her horror, his eyes well with tears, lower lip trembling as he starts to dig his nails into the scratches on his hands. In the back of her mind, she realizes that those cuts aren’t from anything external - he’s been doing that to himself to try to cope with what’s been happening to him. He looks away, out the window at the city, as he hiccups softly and says, “They don’t want me.”
The urge to pull him into her arms is almost overwhelming, but she manages to keep herself under control.
“No?”
He shakes his head, coughing a little around a sob. “No. They - They left me. I’m - They didn’t want - didn’t want me ‘cuz of the lycanthropy.”
She’s not surprised by that, but it hurts all the same. She watches the little boy - Li - scrub at his cheeks with the palm of one of his hands, the other curled into a little fist around the hem of his raggedy shirt - and she can’t help herself.
“Hey, hey, it’s alright, you’re safe now…”
“Please don’t take me back there!” he cries, scrubbing at his face with both hands now. “I don’t wanna go back! I’ll do anything - just don’t make me go back!”
Maya reaches out, rubbing at his upper arm as she shoots Alaric another, almost panicked glance. She’s not sure how he’d feel about taking in another one, but he just meets her gaze steadily, nodding ever so slightly as he shifts his gaze back to the kid. She sighs, both in resignation and sadness as she shifts forward and gathers the scrawny boy up in her arms.
“It’s okay, kid. You’re okay. We’re not gonna let anything happen to you.”
Li just sobs harder, little hands digging into the back of her shirt as he cries into her shoulder. She holds him close, as tight as she can, trying to let him feel her concern through her embrace. She’s not sure how long they sit there, but as his sobs get even harder, she sighs and presses a kiss to the top of his head.
He’s not the first child she’s rescued, and he won’t be the last. No matter how much she wishes she could care less, she knows she can’t. This kid needs her, and she’s not going to let him down like everyone else in his life has.
She just can’t.
He’s here to stay.
happy valentine’s day, mo!

Be’, signori, quest’anno è davvero tutta un’altra musica.
“Libano no, magari Alpaca!”
“Oddio, andiamo a stamparlo subito!”
“Chi siete?” “Siamo..”
“Dai, ragazzi! Tocca a voi!”
“Ci proviamo” “E come fate?” “Concerti e..suoniamo per strada” “Vero? Ma dove?” “A Torino, in centro” “E si guadagna?” “Be’, qualcosa riusciamo a tirarla fuori” “Ma suonate pezzi vostri o cover?” “Entrambi, ma più pezzi nostri” “E qual è il pezzo che vi fa guadagnare di più?” “Si chiama Piuma, è una canzone d’amore” “Cantala un po’” “Ma chi, io?” “Eh, direi! Non sei tu la cantante?”
Piuma, a cappella.
“Ora cosa mi fate sentire?” “Avevamo preparato questa canzone, si chiama Libano”
La potenza. Addirittura abbassa il volume, spiazzato.
“Perché?” “Cosa?” “Perché Libano?” “Be’, perché l’ho scritta?”
“Maya!”
“No, no, non ci hanno presi. Sarete voi sul palco e noi sotto”
Spenti.
E dentro.

9, 23, 39 for the bg3 ask
Answering for the save I've got the furthest on, Maya Cutter. My Dark Urge Vengeance Paladin, that anyone who's been following me since my FO4 days may or may not recognize. She's got a worm in her brain, a bad case of memory loss, and the rockin-est tits in Faerûn.
9) Do you have a favorite member of the tiefling refugees? Is it the same as your character's?
Oh god, that's a tough one. I have so many of them I love. For me it's probably the tiefling siblings, Rolan, Lia, and Cal. Admittedly that took until close to the end of of Act 2 but whatever. Always a sucker for good sibling dynamics.
As far as Maya's favorite, it's probably the thiefling kids as a collective. Silfy's a sweetheart, Mirkon wrote her a story, Mattis is a clever little shit, and Mol is a canny, vicious little thing who's do anything for the rest of the kids. Maya's admittedly got a soft spot for kids anyway, but them in particular.
23) What are your character's thoughts on the dream visitor?
They're beautiful, helpful, apparently protecting the party out of the goodness of their heart, clearly a hero in their own right and a paragon of some kind of virtue, certainly a better paladin than she is, assuming they are one.
Given the little buddy currently chilling in her brain and the memory loss apparently unrelated to it, she doesn't trust a damn thing out of Mx Perfect's mouth, especially after they start talking about eating more woims.
39) What are your character's thoughts on Raphael?
Initially? "Oh for fuck's sake..."
Trusts him less than Dreamboat, which is impressive no matter how narrow the margin is. Not even because of being a paladin, although that doesn't help.
Nice voice, though.
#answers to questions y'all actually asked#genderfluidloki#bg3#maya acerbi#she's a long-standing oc of mine for the last several years#jumped between a few dozen aus and brought her family along for most of them#including her late husband: the world's most fridgeable man#which in retrospect i probably could have based dreamboat on instead of the actual husband she stuck with through 500 iterations but eh#and thank you for the ask. genuinely

psst i saw you reblogged a bg3 (which im currently 30 hrs in on, god what a game.) ask meme earlier but i forgot to like it to find it again. dealers choice on which numbers you'd like to answer. lemme hear about your tav & your playthrough
I did go and unbury that in case you want to do it too. Link there for anyone who wants to use it.
You're getting more Maya (although there's probably gonna be a Cat run soon, probably gonna roll her up, get off the nautiloid, then truck on her save once I'm done with Maya's since I'm solidly into act 3 with her. I should work on my other saves too but whatever.)
As far as dealer's choice, I'm gonna limit myself to 5 because I will be here for hours otherwise.
1) Tell us about your Tav! Name, class and subclass, race, pronouns, etc. Do you have a headcanon where they're from? Their family? Are they a Dark Urge? Did you choose an original character or an Origin Character? Was it an easy decision?
Maya Cutter, Vengeance Paladin, Duergar (headcanon is her mother was a Duergar and her father was a Gold Dwarf and that's why the grey complexion only shows as a vague ashy cast and as hyperpigmentation in her scars, and why her hair was lightly shot through with silver all her life.) She is indeed a Dark Urge, so there's some stuff I've adjusted in the backstory to fit with what we learn in act 3 regarding that, but for the most part it remains unchanged. Mainly that her mother was not exactly a good Duergar down in the Underdark and her father wasn't exactly a willing part of the household. Briefly had her own family, but Vengeance Paladin things happened that set her on a very bad path, so the memory loss was a nice hard reboot. Lot of tragedy, lots of death, because if you're gonna pick the edgelord background, might as well lean into it. Plus, I'm bad at letting the coping mechanism characters have a good time.
It was definitely an easy choice for OC playthrough every time, and definitely easy preexisting OC choices for both TDU saves; Maya for the "actually I hate this" and Felicity for Full Murder Hobo. I've got like 8 more not-TDU OCs waiting in the wings at this point and I'm only considering an Origin because I want Karlach and Wyll to smooch.
2) Was there something about the character creator that just couldn't capture your character? Please tell us about their hair, tattoos, piercings, disabilities, their trans or intersex body, or anything else you feel comfortable sharing!
A few things, yeah. First and foremost, Maya is a Tough Old Broad, but physically the cc only allowed for Tough. She's old and fat and happy with that, and while she's got a decent amount of muscle, she's not nearly as buff as the Dwarf character model. (That said, if female dwarves can have beards they should also get body hair. Unshave her.) Woman's built like a dumpling and, outside of the battle scars and edgelord coat of paint, looks more like she should be a cookbook mascot.
Another big one is a consistent thing for her between every au is she has a prosthetic arm. Right arm specifically, starting just below the shoulder, always lost in a fight against something significantly bigger and nastier than her because she put herself between it and someone who couldn't put up a fight. Probably skeletal in this case, reinforced with infernal iron, but it's kinda vague in my head.
Last bit is she's more heavily scarred all over (some of it so severe it looks like pieces of her had to be stitched back onto her body) and with some different stuff written on her face now that I know Larian used the actual Infernal alphabet. Probably slightly luminous scarring rather than just lurid orange face paint, across the face as seen here, as well as around the amputation site on her arm.
...I should dig out my tablet.
19) Did your character spend a night with a companion either the night of the party or earlier? Is it someone they have continued interest in?
Yes and no? She chatted everyone up and about half the party was sad to be shot down, save Lae'zel (already got shot down day fucking one after getting off the nautiloid), Wyll (having his introspective time that she left him to), and Astarion. Astarion immediately headed off any interest (that wasn't actually there, I misclicked) with the "it's not you, it's me. I have standards." line, which (headcanon) got a really good laugh out of her and a "careful there, prettyboy, keep that up and I might actually start to like your skinny ass." She likes a friend she can argue and be catty with.
As far as actually spending the night, she and Karlach did a lot of flirting and then uh. Thinking about each other after working themselves up without having a chance to properly fix the whole Too Hot, Hot Damn issue. Karlach has continued to be Maya's romance, but it is a tragedy she couldn't be poly with her and Wyll. (That said, if I were to replay another Maya save, TDU or not, I'd probably lean less into my own preference and more into Maya being an old slut before sticking with one of the Act 3 companions who's a little closer to her age.)
(I'm rolling these two into one question)
28) Did you recruit Scratch the dog? Did you encounter him at all? (29) Did you adopt an owlbear? Do you have a name for your child?
His name is Baby.
35) Has your character done anything that they regret?
*sweats in Dark Urge*
Aside from any TDU stuff, Maya was very conflicted about how she handled Mayrina's stuff after the Hag. Found the wand, regretted not snapping it. Instead, she used it, felt bad about it, passed it off to Mayrina, felt weird about it, and basically kept wondering on and off during quiet moments "was that...... was that the right call?" well into act 3.
(Even in act 3, it's basically "y'know what, we all grieve on our own schedule. Still weird tho.")

the bg3 ask, any 4 odd numbers you wanna do for your tav. :) <3
You're the best, and you're getting more Maya (partly because she's reclaimed the little throne in my brain, partly because she's the only one I've finished Act 1 with.)
Anyone else wants to shoot some my way or reblog it for themselves, here's a link!
5) Do you remember the first humanoid enemy your Character killed? Was it the first person they've ever killed, in your opinion? Would they have been bothered by it?
The group of de-coma-tized and very angry for it cultists on the nautiloid where you find Shadowheart would be the first ones in-game. As far as the first person Maya ever killed? Ha. No. I've got her backstory hammered out now and even if she wasn't a Dark Urge character, she's still a vengeance paladin. She's definitely done some killing in her time. That said, with the memory loss and capacity for guilt having been restored to her, yeah she felt a little bad for having to kill a bunch of mind-controlled people who got pissed off when she pushed a button she couldn't read.
17) What does your Character think of Withers?
Not the first friendly undead in her merry little band of misfits, and at least he bites less than Astarion. Was definitely expecting some kind of Mysterious Magical Benefactor like in a fairy tale after he made a point of "we will meet again at the fated time" or whatever. Definitely didn't expect to find him bumming around in camp like everyone else three hours later. Frustrated after the Alfira thing, but that's on whatever the fuck is going on with her head, not on him. Has a half-joking theory on who he actually is. That seems a lot less jokey as time has gone on in act 3.
27) Who ended up in your Character's most used party?
Shadowheart, because Maya's a vengeance paladin, not a devotion paladin. She can heal, but she's better as a backup. Shadowheart's pulled their asses out of the fire more times than she can count. Karlach is in second place because it's nice to have someone who can dish out significant amounts of damage that can also tank while Maya patches herself up after picking and holding a fight with everything in a half mile radius. Also because Gay. Third slot had pretty much an equal rotation between everyone else, usually with Astarion or Gale because range. When Karlach wasn't in the group, it was Lae'zel for the same reasons, just marginally less Gay.
31) Does your Character have new or old phobias or superstitions that affect their story?
Again, the amnesia has definitely been a factor as far as old phobias, but dealing with the Duergar down in the Underdark sets her teeth on edge when they start swinging those whipping canes around. The sound of them makes her jump and the Urge rears its head pretty hard, almost defensively, when that happens. Siccing herself on them is about the only time she didn't feel bad indulging it. Speaking of Just Dark Urge Things, she's got a new paranoia about lingering too hard on impulsive or intrusive thoughts, or really even falling asleep at this point. When she has to sleep, it's under the influence of an ungodly amount of alcohol just to make sure that she either stays down or is too impaired to be a danger to anyone if she has another, different flavor of blackout. She was also too scared to pet Scratch or Baby for days after zoning out and punting a squirrel so hard it exploded. (And by she I mean me. There was no warning on that cutscene, I saved every time I interacted with them pretty much all the way through the rest of act 1 and into the start of act 3.)
#bg3#my ocs#my tav#maya acerbi#answers to questions y'all actually asked#uglehcat#baldur's gate 3#listen. I like a woman who can kick my ass. whether it's karlach or lae'zel#I like shadowheart but I'm probably gonna run her romance on a lae'zel save or a selune cleric one. possibly both#dark urge

Yo, I need to know everything about these D&D guys immediately if not sooner, but I can't find much of anything in tags. I KNOW you have backstories, Logan. Lemme get at those sweet sweet little gay people in your head.
This ask has apparently been sitting here for two and a half months and I only just saw it. I feel a little bit like an ass, ngl.
Alright! So, I've got a bunch, but the main ones at the moment are Thaavia "Godbarter" Elanigo, aka Paladin Godbarter, her twin brother Aurmun "Hearthkeeper" Elanigo, aka Brother Hearthkeeper or Brother Aurmun. They're my current character and backup character/significant background NPC in a friend's homebrew setting, twin Goliath healers with the church of Vild, god of healing and purification. Both have their own complicated relationship with their beliefs and the people within the church, and are for the most part just focused on helping people however they can.
After that, the other significant NPC in this campaign who I also got to play during a battle royale session (actually more like 8 sessions, such is the nature of one-shots) is Thyris Griswold! He's a tiefling bard raised by halflings, told more often than not "yeah that explains a lot" when he explains that. Very much a candidate for the himbo hall of fame, and Thaavia's romantic partner of about 10 years (kinda, they do a lot of traveling in different directions and don't get as much time together as they'd like). They're utterly smitten with each other, but open to things if the other finds another partner while they're apart.
If you see me posting about another tiefling, that is actually de-luka's boy Lucy, and at the moment the character Thaavia (and likely Thyris) is romantic endgame with. Y'know. After a significant slowburn. We'll get there when we get there, right now we're at a very shaky friendship and a one-sided secret crush. Or at least secret to anyone who hasn't known him all his life, anyone who knows his type is gonna have that shit clocked from half a mile off.
After that, I've got Maya Acerbi, who's a character who jumps around a lot, and is currently being run as a Zabrak mechanic named Cutter Calish in a Star Wars Fantasy Flight game. Great system, I definitely recommend it. Cranky old woman with a lot of secrets that I'm not gonna get into because both other players follow me on tumblr and there's a lot in her background that I'm trying very hard to play close to the vest with, but I'd be happy to dm about.
And finally, there's Mhairi Eoghan, a strix inventor in the pathfinder Strength of Thousands game. Reworked from my old Arc*na oc when I was super into that mobile game 10000 years ago because they were great but the game and the devs were.............. not. Anyways, now they're an inventor with an exploding mechanical bird who's equal parts their bodyguard and personal watchdog, learning to adjust to being in a place where they don't really need to be that kind of guarded and hypervigilant against the people around them anymore. They're also a massive lesbian, which is cool.

I'm drawing blanks on charaters so I'm picking yours, Hows Maya doin?
Send me a character and I’ll talk about them!
David, have I mentioned you’re the only motherfucker I respect on this hellsite? Seriously, I love you. Under a cut, because I’m A Wordy Bitch and she brings out the worst of that in me.
do I like them:
Relationship Status: It’s Complicated. I do. I have 35+ aus that can attest to that, she’s my main oc and I adore her. I also wanna delete the little pain in the ass because woman why the fuck do you need so many aus, why do you need to drag your husband and 6 kids into all of them, why was I put on this earth just to suffer under the yoke of a person I. Fucking. Invented????
5 good qualities:
1) Selfless, although she’s kinda had to come at it from the other direction? This quote in particular is one of her Core Influences. She would do anything for the people she’s decided are Hers, to the point of full self-sacrifice for the hopes, dreams, lives, and safety of those people. It’s not a control thing, she’d never try and dictate what those hopes and dreams should be (too much responsibility), but she’ll cut a motherfucker to make sure that they happen.
2) She puts the ‘passion’ in compassionate. In the anger way (although occasionally in the sexy way too, she knows what she likes and she ain’t shy about it), she’s very much a character who embodies righteous fury. How dare the people in power use that power to hurt the ones they should be focused on protecting?! Great power, great responsibility, truth and justice, all that jazz, but specifically responsibility to other people. If justice isn’t putting the welfare of others first, it’s not justice. It’s spite.
3) Really good at reading people and defusing arguments.
4) A good mom who adores her kids, whether they’re actually her kids or not. Doesn’t matter, she’s there with advice, food, a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, whatever you need. She’s full of love.
5) Open-minded and always does her best to learn better than what she was taught when she was younger. Her motto is “Never assume you’re the smartest person in the room. In fact, assume you’re the dumbest person in the room, it’ll keep you humble and remind you that everyone you meet knows something you don’t.”
3 bad qualities:
1) Yeah, that Good At Reading People thing? Means she’s also a master manipulator and doesn’t always remember where the line is on that sort of thing. She’s taken it too far more than once.
2) She’s an alcoholic. High-functioning, but still. And she gets punchy when she’s drunk. She already wasn’t the best decision-maker, once you add booze to the equation? Oof.
3) That woman will hold a grudge until the heat death of the fucking universe. Even if it’s not her grudge to hold. She’ll gladly hold a grudge for someone she’s claimed as One Of Hers, even if that person has moved on. If you fucked over someone she cares about, you will stay on her shit list for the rest of your natural life, do not pass Go, do not collect $200.
favourite episode/etc:
Uhhh well not an episode or anything, but she’s got this Persona au that’s lived in my brain rent-free for the last -checks calendar- uhhhhhh 6 1/2 months? It’s consumed my life! It’s great! Less great is that it looked an awful lot like the plot of Persona 2 well before I ever even fuckin’ looked at another game besides 5. So on the one hand, cool, I’m good at Themes! On the other hand, now I look like I’m plagiarizing. Like, down to the fuckin’ name.
otp:
It’s an OCTP! A husband invented himself from thin air for the Destiny au, Ateskriks, and apparently this dramatic asshole is the soulmate she needed, because they’ve now gone and retconned him and their six kids into damn near every au she had before he turned up.
brotp:
Her and Carrax and/or Huntir would probably get along like a house on fire.
ot3:
Well, when she started off in Fallout 4, Maya/Nick Valentine/Hancock were gonna be endgame in that fic. Too bad I fell off of Cold Comfort entirely.
notp:
Maya/Any God Figure She Can’t Put In A Headlock
best quote:
It’s been a hot minute since I read or wrote anything for her original stuff in Fallout, but the line, “I’m a lawyer, not a fighter!” is my personal favorite of hers. It’s been years since I wrote that line and it still delights me.
head canon:
I am her god, I dictate the canon! Hah, yeah right. I headcanon that I actually get any fuckin’ input on what she does rather than her being a free-range brain gremlin that plagues my existence.
#my ocs#maya acerbi#she is both the mother figure I needed growing up and the wildly dysfunctional alcoholic i'm terrified of becoming#god the irony of me typing that out while i'm four drinks in#I hope to fuck this is coherent in the morning#babebot#answers to questions y'all actually asked

Hi!! I wanna hear more about maya :O
Oh no. Congratulations, you have selected: Demon!
Okay, but seriously, she’s my loudest, bossiest muse and I don’t just mean in character. She bullies me. She’s the Delta Airlines to my John Mulaney. More aus than I care to tally, HOWEVER, there are a lot of consistent things between each one, whether it’s Mass Effect or Dragon Quest, she’s definitely gonna have these going on. So going down the list!
She was a wild child and has calmed down a lot since her younger days. This statement is terrifying to anyone who knows her, because she’s still an incredibly chaotic disaster bi who is anger made manifest. That anger is at least (usually) from a good place. She’s got a strong sense of justice and an incredible capacity for kindness and compassion.
She is mom-shaped! She almost never lets me write her younger than 40 and even when she hasn’t had a kid yet, she’s always a mom friend or straight up surrogate to the people who need one. You got bad parents? No parents? Congratulations, she’s holding adoption papers, you just gotta sign.
She’s got a lot of disdain for authorities that use their power for self-advancement rather than care for the people they claim power over (so most of them.) This ranges from bad parents to politicians to god itself. Sometimes she settles for trying to fix things, but for the most part she’s more down to fight it outright.
She’s scrappy as hell. She doesn’t really like killing, but she’s down for a scrap, a tussle, a bar room brawl, whatever whenever. It’s a good way to relieve stress and since she’s usually a bundle of stress, she’s usually eager to blow off steam by knocking someone’s block off.
She’s got a lot of scars, mostly on her face. Going out and getting into a fight every other night and only slowing down after a decade or more will do that. She’s also built small and stocky, and recognizes that she’s not conventionally pretty by any means, but still confident that there’s still enough folks out there who’d line up for a chance with her so she’s not worried.
Despite being very in touch with most of her feelings, when it comes to romance, she’s a mess. She’s demiromantic, so Hastag Feelings don’t really happen that often and when they do, she doesn’t really know how to handle them, partly because she doesn’t really know how to identify them (one time she thought she was having a panic attack when the person she was falling for hugged her, it was great) and partly because she doesn’t like leaving herself that vulnerable to someone else. It scares her.
She’s freakishly charismatic and very good at reading people. She’s a master manipulator and thankfully she uses that power for good. Mostly. Sometimes flattery gets the job done, sometimes playing the poor helpless dumpling of a woman, sometimes insults and goading, sometimes playing on someone’s mommy issues, but the woman is a mastermind when it comes to getting her way.
She consistently ends up being the leader of some kind of militia, bandit/mercenary group or other kind of mishmash of aggressive weirdos who love their Terrifying Tiny Boss Who Doubles As A Den Mother. I thought it was gonna be a one-off thing but it just kept happening.
Another weird one. She is a handful and apparently in the romance department needs at least 4 hands to keep her content (not even in an inappropriate way, just in general). Whether it means polycule or 4 armed monster husband tends to vary, but it’s consistently 4 hands.
I mentioned the not liking feeling vulnerable thing. She’ll try and fix everything herself, even when she’s already been running on fumes for days and is clinging to the ragged edges of her sanity, and is terrible at asking for help. It’s a good thing she surrounds herself with friends who won’t take her bullshit and will make her take care of herself (in the case of romantic partners, that’s the real reason 4 hands are needed, she’s stubborn). It’s hard getting her to just relax and let someone else handle things and it takes her a lot of practice or a situation where she doesn’t have a choice to delegate things she thinks are her job and trust that they’ll get taken care of.
She’s a high functioning alcoholic. It’s the stress.
She’s got a failed dream of being a bigshot musician, but still sings as a side gig and/or hobby.
Ever since she found her place in a Destiny au like two years ago, she’s been carrying around a family of 7 more characters and systematically rewriting all of her previous aus to make room for them. I love them all and they’re just as bad as she is.
Anyways, yeah. That’s my bully. If there’s a specific au where you wanna see how those traits come together, definitely lemme know! I’ll be honest, I seriously considered making her the barbarian instead of Cat in DnDQ and in retrospect she’d have been a lot of fun with Wiz and Ash.

1, 11, 21 & 23 for maya?
Man, you picked the hardest oc for this one, that maniac has more than 30 aus and a different set of answers for each one. You’d probably be more interested in her original or maybe her bioware aus than the borderlands or destiny kick we’re on right now, so lets go with Mass Effect?
1) Origins! How did you come up with the concept for your oc?
As you may know, Maya came from Fallout 4 and sort of developed herself as I continued playing. Since then she’s jumped from universe to universe and kept a handful of consistent traits that boiled down to: Old Grizzled, Heavily Scarred, High Functioning Alcoholic Doubles as Mother Figure and Impossibly Badass Boss to Mercenary and/or Other Form of Paramilitary Group. (An oversimplification that leaves out the strong sense of justice, powerful maternal instinct that’ll latch onto pretty much anything, determination to Do Right by her kids or at least better than was done for her, confidence in knowing sure she ain’t conventionally pretty but there’s plenty who’d get in line to get with her, and strong disdain for the law if it gets in the way of what’s right.)
Anyways. It’s a little embarrassing how long it took for me to realize that in Mass Effect she’d totally be a Krogan.
11) Is there a place they go to in order to escape the world, the stresses of life? What’s their favorite place?
Not so much a place, but she always takes time to call her kids and grandkids whenever things look particularly rough between difficult jobs or tension in her merc group or what have you. And she always takes time to hit Thessia during big holidays for family gatherings.
21) Name an embarrassing situation that your muse has been in.
The usual deflection for this is “Can’t be embarrassed if you don’t feel shame” but honestly meeting her Asari mother-in-law was definitely. Tense. She felt ridiculously out of place in that neat little apartment, didn’t know how to really socialize with anyone who wasn’t Krogan or at least a gun for hire, and got the distinct feeling that the lady thought her kid was wasting their time with her or just dating her to make their mom mad. That said, after a few more visits (and several drinks while swapping war stories) they eventually decided they liked each other.
23) Any ships for your OC?
Well, initially I liked the idea of her being a companion in 2 with some not-so-lowkey flirtation with Samara and/or Zaeed. And while it’s not a ship, you can bet your ass she’d have tried to adopt Grunt in a heartbeat.
However in the last like. Year or so? Ever since she decided where she fit in Destiny, her husband and family have rewritten pretty much every au she’s ever thought about for more than 10 minutes. So she’s happily married to an Asari named Altressa T’Seriks and they have 6 kids, 3 that Maya had (and the fact that she had 3 surviving kids definitely got her on an STG watchlist or 5) and 3 that Altressa had.
Ask me some questions!

pls tell Ms Maya that i miss her and i love her
She loves and misses you and all your nerds too!
At the moment she lives on as a zabrak in a star wars tabletop game I'm part of, with two kids and an inordinate amount of fake names.
I'd be thrilled to talk about her backstory stuff, especially with someone who I'm in this game with and am not actively hiding this backstory from because that kind of thing is more fun organically uncovered.

Today on: My OCs (read: Maya) Are Bossy Little Demons
me: "So what are our ideas for today guys?"
Gaetano: "Well me and Ma were thinking of a Mamma Mia au."
me: "I... No. I've never even seen it. I wouldn't know how to start."
Gaetano: "True, true. But consider, my original universe already had the whole 'Iunno it could be any of these three guys' thing. Plus the name could be Mamma Maya."
me: "........you're just as bad as your mother."

Maya's still going fuckin ballistic about Forsaken, so I'm trying to gently usher her to a mostly unrelated au for her to cool off on neutral ground. (I say mostly unrelated because she still insists on bringing Big Monster Husband and all six of their kids.)
So in that vein, feel free to ask about the new and improved Elder Scrolls Acerbi Family AU.

Rules: Pick one of your OCs and three of their relationships (family, romantic, platonic, nemesis, whatever) and post a gif that represents each relationship!
Tagged by @galpalaven, who is the best! Gonna pick my girl Maya Acerbi, because she rarely gives me a choice.
Maya and Ateskriks
(Do you have any idea how hard it was picking from all those Gomez and Morticia gifs for these two?)
Maya and her kids (yeah I know it’s a cop-out but I’m not picking 6 individual gifs)
(”Go wreak as much havoc as I did at your age!”)
Maya and -Insert Deity Here-
(Yes it’s another cop-out, but I’m up like 4 hours past my bedtime, don’t make me brain or dig through tumblr’s weird gif thing any more than I have to.)
I’ll tag @rocatanskies, @enbyjango, @babebot, and @filthy-rat plus whoever else sees this and wants to do it
