they're childhood friends who met when they both entered the tasier court at around 8 years old, luma b/c her mother was a high-ranking military official and robin b/c her father is a wealthy merchant who has been stocking the royal coffers in exchange for preferential treatment in the market. because they were both raised Elsewhere beforehand and the south realm's imperial court is an extremely closed circle, they both had trouble fitting in with the tasier aristocrat children and so ended up spending a lot of time together (even though they got on each other's nerves a little at first); lulu in particular was a big crybaby and got picked on a lot and robin Protected her<33

when they turned ~12 y/o luma started officer training in order to join the military like her older siblings, and robin's goal was to enter the imperial army's tactician training school in order to support her and eventually work beside her (robin is a bit of a jack of all trades type who's not extremely good at or very passionate about any one thing but is massively Competent at everything she tries her hand at and makes for a very solid and reliable tactician, ultimately. very by-the-book but she gets the job done), fulfilling a promise they'd made to each other as an extremely roundabout way of avoiding directly confronting their budding mutual crush lol. unfortunately there's some archaic tasier-typical convention that prevented robin from getting into that school since she doesn't have any south realm noble blood, and the only workaround she could find was to enter service in the inner court as a lady-in-waiting and prospective future member of the imperial harem, since the emperor's wives are often foreigners and as a member of the inner court she could then enter the tactician school. she did this almost 100% just to be close to luma but lulu freaked out abt her essentially locking in her life path as 'going to marry someone else eventually' but also still couldn't face up to what exactly she was upset about, and even though robin understood what luma was angry about she also couldn't accept that luma really felt that way abt her without being told, and Neither Of Them Owning Up To It drove a huge wedge in their relationship that they still haven't recovered from to this day<3

anyways ro ended up also getting bullied in the inner court to the extent that she eventually gave up and dropped out entirely, and left the court still without reconciling with lulu. she wants nothing more than to go back but fundamentally doesn't believe she's worthy of the affection she wanted in the first place ++ lulu has been thinking about going after her almost nonstop but instead has dedicated herself exclusively to getting Stronger because she thinks if she wins enough battlefield victories she can prove herself Worthy in a way she wasn't before......... also in the meantime they've both been distracted by being puppeteered as information-gatherers by ehen and ilora respectively lol

The Journal

Summary: You work IT for the GAR, and through that you met Sev, the actual love of your life. Only, because he doesn't know you exist, you spend your time sketching and writing sippets about him. One night, he sees your journal.

A/N: I hope this is close to what you wanted? I kept starting it and then having to change things to make the plot work.

You bit your lower lip as you read over the sentence you just wrote, considering your word usage critically. It’s always important to make sure that the words flow properly, even though you’re the only person who’s ever going to read it.

What you’re doing is weird.

It is. You know it, but you can’t help yourself.

After all, it’s not like Sev would ever deign to look at you…let alone do anything that you fantasize about with you.

Which means that your own release is by sketching scenes, and then writing the scenes that you sketched.

It’s awful and humiliating. But since it’s just you, and since you’re so very careful about making sure that your sketchbook is always safe, then you don’t mind half as much as you normally would.

You critically eye the words again.

Sev slides his hands down your sides, whispered praises falling from his lips as you sink down his hard length, his pupils flared with arousal-

Ugh. It’s garbage. 

Utter trash.

You erase some of the words, consider for a moment, and then write them again.

It’s still trash, but your brain doesn’t seem to have the right words at the moment. Maybe you need to take a break. You set the protector over the pencil drawing, and snap your sketchbook shut, and you slide it into your work bag absently.

Maybe you’ll have the words after a long night of night shift work.

Probably not, you have to replace and update all of the computers on base tonight.

You quickly check to make sure that your uniform is clean and neat looking, and then you grab your bag and your datapad, and you head out the apartment.

You live close enough to base that you can walk, and, honestly, you couldn’t catch a cab at this time of night anyway. Not to mention, the walk helps clear your mind and prepares you for the night you’re about to have.

As soon as you’re on base, you make your way to the office all of IT has to share, set your bag on your desk, and grab your datapad. Your office mate Holly, the other member of IT who drew the short straw for the overhaul, greets you with a tired smile.

“Are you ready?” She asks as she pulls her long blonde hair into a tail.

“Does it matter if I’m not?” You ask with an amused grin as you stick a pen in your hair.

“Not at all,” Holly replies with a laugh. “Come on, I have the key to where they’re keeping the new computers.”

“I don’t suppose the boss told you what to do with the old computers?” You ask dryly as you trail after her down the hall.

“He said, quote, “you know what to do you stupid girl” end quote.” Holly replies with a roll of her eyes, “So I’m guessing we need to stack the old computers where the new ones are.”

“Makes sense.”

Holly leads you through the winding halls, until she stops at the storage room door, and she checks her datapad. “Um…here, this is the one.” She waves the keycard over the panel and keys in the door code, and you push the door open and peer into the room.

“Hm.”

“What?”

“There are a lot of computers here.” You say with a sigh.

Holly peers over your shoulder, and she sighs as well. “We might as well start loading up carts.”

Three hours later, you’re alone in the IT office, working on disconnecting the computers and hooking up the new ones, when the door opens. “IT is closed for the night,” You say, your voice muffled since you’re under a desk. “Oh, come on, disconnect you stupid piece of-”

“I know,” The deep voice of Sev startles you enough that you pull yourself out from under your desk, “I was just coming to check on you, since Miss Holly nearly fell off her ladder.”

“Oh. Well I’m not doing any of the ladder work, I have a thing.”

“A thing?”

“About heights. And falling.”

He chuckles, “Reasonable,” He looks around the room, “You need any help with anything?”

“...can you put that box on my cart for me?”

Sev chuckles again, “Yeah, I have you mesh’la.” He picks up the box, which has an old computer in it, and moves it to the cart, bumping your desk as he does so.

Just as Sev turns to leave the room, he pauses. “Huh, looks like someone lost their journal.”

“Journal?” You glance at him, and then pale when you see your sketchbook in his hands, “Ah! Wait! That’s mine…and it’s personal-” He flips open the journal and you feel a hot flush of shame.

With him wearing his helmet, you have no way to know what he’s thinking, though you’re not sure you’d be able to tell even if he wasn’t wearing his helmet. 

“I…I can explain-” You offer weakly, but you trail off, because you don’t have an explanation. Not a good one, at least. 

Sev’s shifts slightly, and you have the feeling that he’s staring at you, “Can I hold onto this?”

“I’d…rather you didn’t.”

“What if I promise that I’m the only one who will see it?”

You hesitate, “Are you confiscating it?” You ask anxiously.

“No.” His voice is surprisingly gentle, “I promise you’ll get it back in the same condition as it is now.”

“...okay.” The sketchbook vanishes into one of his many pockets, and then Sev is gone, and you are stuck trying to finish the overhaul while knowing that the man that you’ve been crushing on, and fantasizing over, now has access to all of your fantasies.

Needless to say, you’re a little anxious.

Three days later, you’re still really anxious. 100% because Sev still hasn’t returned your sketchbook to you and while you were worried before, it’s been ramped up. A lot.

So when you get a visitor when you’re working on a commission for someone, your heart drops. 

You check to see who’s there, and when you see Sev, you get even more nervous, your mind running though dozens of different scenarios, all of them worse than the one before it.

But, slowly, you open the door. 

“Um…Hi.”

He’s dressed in casual clothes today, and while normally that would be something for you to enjoy, you’re far too anxious to actually enjoy it.

He gazes at you for a moment, “Can I come in?”

“Ah, yes. Sorry,” You move to the side and he steps into your apartment. You shut the door behind him, and then nervously step around him, “Can I get you something?”

Sev is quiet for a moment, his gaze flickering around your apartment. It’s covered in various pieces of artwork that you’ve done, and then he looks at you and offers you your notebook. “Sorry it took me so long to return it.”

You take the journal back and fold your arms around it, “Um…you’re not…mad?”

“No.”

“Uh…that’s good, but why?”

He folds his arms over his chest, “Why would I be?”

You glance down at the notebook, and then back at him, slightly lost, “Uh…you did see some of the things I sketched, right?”

“I did. I looked at all of it.” Sev replies, and then a slow grin crosses his face, “Like I said, it’s in the same condition you gave it to me in. But, I did add a page, you should take a look.”

You watch him suspiciously, but open the journal, flipping until you find the loose page he’s talking about. It takes you a moment to recognize what you’re looking at, but then your face flames.

It’s you. And him. With him balls deep inside you.

You turn your wide gaze up to Sev, and he smirks, “What, you thought you were the only one with seemingly impossible fantasies?”

You glance back at the picture, “Seemingly impossible?”

“Sure, why would a pretty thing like you be interested in a mere clone?”

Your head snaps up, “I have never thought that! Ever!” 

Sev smirks and takes a step closer to you, before he carefully flips to another page, where a nearly identical picture to the one that he sketched sits on the page, “I know that now. You didn’t get my tattoos, but that’s okay, you’ve never seen me shirtless. Yet.”

“Yet?”

His gaze is very intense, “Yet.” Sev agrees, “Unless you’d rather wait before we make any of these,” He taps the journal, “Come true.”

“I think I missed a whole part of this conversation,” You finally say.

Sev chuckles and takes your journal from your hands, tossing it on the table in the middle of the room, and then he pins you against the wall with his arm folded over your head. 

He lowers his head so that you can feel his breath against your skin, “I’m saying,” Sev murmurs, “That I feel the same way about you as you feel about me.” Your lips part, “And I’m saying that I want to make all of those fantasies come true.”

He lowers his head so that his lips are right over yours, “What do you say, sarad?”

You blink at him, and then lean up to catch his lips with yours.

You feel him grin as he presses against you, and then he nips your lower lip and soothes the spot with his tongue. 

Sev kisses with the same intensity that he does everything, and you’re not really surprised when you feel his hands dipping under your clothes to caress your bare skin. 

He lifts you with ease, and encourages you to wrap your legs around his waist. “Where’s your bedroom, sarad?” Sev asks, his voice a low rumble.

“Down the hall, first door on the left.”

Sev catches your lips with his again as he walks down the hall and pushes your bedroom door open. He lays you down on your bed and follows you down, kneeling between your spread legs, before he breaks the kiss.

He pulls his shirt off, and immediately pulls your hands to his chest, and you take the opportunity to explore him with great enthusiasm. He kisses you again as you explore him with your fingers, realizing that you’re going to need to wait before you can explore him with your eyes.

“Before we go any further,” Sev murmurs against your lips, “I want to know-”

“Yes?”

“Is this going to be a one time thing, or is it going to be a relationship?”

It takes you a moment to process the question, “Why?”

“Because I’m going to fuck my girlfriend a hell of a lot differently than I’m going to fuck a one night stand.” Sev sucks a mark high on your neck, “Take your pick, sarad.”

“I’d like to be your girlfriend,” You say through a quiet moan as he sucks another mark onto your neck.

Sev grins, “A good choice.” He tugs on your shirt, “Strip, sarad. I’m going to make you feel amazing.”

Writing Update 9/19/2024

Been a while since I did an update! Last week I was on jury duty and it MURDERED my writing time as I had to change up my day and it took longer to get home (mentally draining....)

Been back at work this week, but still has been draining, so less time to get things done, but trying to get back into the flow of things! Hopefully more updates to show soon!

Eroded molars plucked like pomegranate seeds and summarily replaced with brighter pearls.

Idk I really like how this sentence shook out it's info dense while still retaining an easy, readable flow. Also tips its hat on the kitbashing going on without being obvious so it'll be a fun thing to pick up upon a second or third read (I think)! Because I'm one of those annoying people who likes reading/writing things that require several passes to get the full picture.

Glimmer from Limits:

Either post was crafted to mimic the trees they were gored from, the arc of the back panel--branches that tangled and fused at its center. Wildlife roiled behind the broad leaves–[Ana] had spent hours while she was young sprawled out on the bed, tracing her fingertips across every twig-clutching talon and leaf-stem coiling mousetail. Pressing her fingers into the two ragged, unvarnished gashes that tore into the falcon roosted in the top right corner. To this day, she does not know what put those there–Kliment would never tell.

okay cheating this is a full passage not a single line, but I'm particularly proud of this description of Ana and Roman's headboard from the second chapter of Limits so full excerpt be upon ye! And yes the tenses are weird but Memorium can be like that sometimes (says the editor-less writer)

🎶 - I'm hugely reliant on music!! I create playlists for all my projects, and the majority of my music listening habits are more or less informed by whatever I'm writing/drafting on a particular day. All my playlists are in tatters because I'm in the middle of yet another spotify playlist overhaul but here's an ole reliable I recently updated for some Ana/Roman oneshots that will hopefully see the light of day eventually:

🤔 - I got two different answers! One more general and one more fic- specific. So two answers for the price of one! General: I've been writing since literally I was old enough to hold a pencil/sit at a keyboard. So I don't really have an answer outside of "well I also eat and sleep so yeah I write" it's just something I do whether I set out to do it or not. Even if I go years without publishing/posting/producing, I usually have several WIPs floating around for me to peck away at and manage sanity. Fan/Fic: Usually a good setting is enough for me to spin out fic! I don't typically write canon characters unless they become an Intense Blorbo where I feel like I have something to add to the greater blorbo-sphere. Currently I don't really have any of those outside of stray Sascha concept that I've got cooking out back. But yeah if I come across a setting that strikes me, OCs will just start spawning naturally so I write fic to wrangle those OCs.

⛔️ - If I'm writing canon characters for a specific fandom, I try to limit the number of "Big Names" in the piece bc nothing's more annoying that reading a fic tagged with a specific character only for said character to be around for three paragraphs as a contact/side mission. If there's a bit part to be played, give it to nameless rando 172 and if he grows a personality great! I now have a shiny new OC people can get to know! But like if you have a vamp fic and you need a Nos contact maybe give Mr. Tung a break he has enough going on in SoCal he doesn't need to be bothered with breadbasket intel unless he absolutely has to, give that job to a bright-eyed Nos upstart with a cool pet rat named Pichu and let that fun lil gal bounce off the Big Wigs in the fic. Makes the story more accessible to folks who are new to the fandom/lore as well as something new for the old heads if executed with care. Win-win! I hope!

"No, it caught me by surprise as well." Chrono answered while politely opening the door to the store for you to enter.

About eight months ago you would never believe you would be casually talking with Kurono Hari, aka Chronostasis. He was the closest thing your boyfriend could call a friend; even if he didn't admit it; and you sure wanted to get to know about him since he knew Chisaii way longer than you did.

But the thing is, you were not only new to the area, making every one suspicious of you, you were also so shy you normally would stutter near everyone trying to make conversation with you.

And it didn't help that Kurono at the time would only nod or grunt at you TRYING to speak with him... later on you discovered that was due to Chisaki's doing.

At first he was suspicious and wanted to know what the hell were your intentions on getting on a relationship with Kai out of all people since he knew how his childhood friend was... and honestly? He was shocked when Kai brought you and just dropped that you two were dating.

But then after watching over you for a bit I'm secret, again due to Overhaul's orders, he discovered that you were just the sweetest. Himself admitted to you that he got jealous that Kai got such cute girlfriend while he was still single.

That made you blush and made Kai almost to overhaul kurono right there.

Kai didn't particularly enjoyed that you wasn't as shy as before with Kurono because it meant that you were getting comfortable, and the man would die before admiting he was actually jealous of it. But he trusted Hari, so when he couldn't, Hari would be your second option of company asides from your friends outside the yakuza.

Today was an example. Kai couldn't go with you to buy a thing you wanted, so Kurono was called right the time to go with you... not without a threat from the young leader of course.

"Oh, there it is!" You walked towards the place where it was your favorite nail polish as Kurono chuffed with a smirk.

"All that excitement was because of a lil tube with paint for nails?"

"Shut up!" You giggled as you looked for the price tag "you're not a woman how can you be excited for these things? Besides, this one is so difficult to find and-"

"And Kai complimented the color?" The white haired man teased and laughed at your face getting red immediately after the words slipped from his mouth "You're so obvious (Y/n)."

"Leave me alone jerk ..." You jokingly pushed him as he smirked before noticing a thing that got his interest as he told you to wait a bit.

You nodded and started to look for other items kn the store before tensing at shadow of man approaching.

"Hey." The man spoke, a cigarette between his lips as his blonde curls bounced at the way he tilted his head.

"H-Hi." You muttered, doing your best to avoid eye contact.

"Shopping?"

"Sorta..." You mumbled, getting uncomfortable at the way he invaded your personal space.

"Dolling yourself up? You don't even need to do that to catch some man's attention cutie." He smirked and you swore you could feel a drop of sweat sliding down in the back of your neck.

"T-That isn't my intention at all!" You finally looked at the blue eyed man while waving your hand desperately in denial.

The guy only laughed.

"I'm joking, I'm joking." He took the cigarettes out and threw it somewhere inside the store which you were pretty sure it was illegal "I'm Satoshi."

"(L/n)." You stuttered while taking a few steps back.

"Cute. There is any chance I can get your number?"

You frooze and mentally cursed Hari for not coming back to help you out.

"I'm.. I d-dont think I can... i-i already am on a relationship..."

"Aw. But he doesn't even have to know." He smirked while leaning down next to you "I am sure I can show a very good time... I can make a better performance in bed than whatever guy you are with."

You were about to open your mouth again until the said Satoshi was suddenly pulled and throw out of the way.

Finally Chrono was back.

"You're good?"

"The heck dude?" The blond snarled, getting too close to your liking as Chrono blocked the way "is forbidden now to talk with someone?"

"Is actually more about common sense. Couldn't you see she was getting uncomfortable?" Kurono muttered while glaring at the stranger.

"We were just talking, weren't we sweets?" The man tilted his head at you but before you could react Hari just grabbed the hem of guy's jacket and slammed him on a wall.

"Listen. That "sweets" over there man is already ona relationship with someone you REALLY shouldn't mess around with. And honestly I'm saving your fucking ass by doing this."

"Oh sure you seem like a good boyfriend right pretty boy?" The guy snarled before Chrono chuckled humorless.

"No no fella... " He got close to the guy face "Have you perhaps heard of... Overhaul?"

The blond suddenly got pale as a ghost.

"Oh.. so you do know him. Listen. That girl over there is his girlfriend. So if you don't want your body being found in seven different places across Japan, I would suggest that you never bother her again... got it?"

The guy nodded and when Chrono let go of him, the once confident man was running for his life while you approached Hari.

"Y-You didn't have to do that." You sighed a bit in relief as the white haired man scratched the back of his neck.

"Yeah but it kinda pissed me off. I saw that you told him you were in a relationship and the dickhead keep insisting." Chrono muttered before looking at you with a more calm expression "Come on, let's go. Kai must be yanking his hair off for us to be taking si long to get back. I will pay for that thing."

"Uh.. no you won't."

"Why the hell not?"

"Maybe because all of you are broke." You deadpanned as Kurono felt like the ground could swallow him whole after that comment.

"I found funny that even the cashier confused us as a couple." You laughed as Kurono opened the door for you. Both of you unaware that a certain golden eyed man could hear every word.

"Oh yeah, that dude also thought I was your boyfriend for a sec." Kurono chuckled before going silent at seeing the man in black leaving a room with a unreadable expression.

"Kai!" You exclaimed with a smile while going to him "I got everything I wanted, so I guess I won't be needing to go out for a while." You smiled before widening your eyes at his gloved hand carrying your cheek.

"Chrono. At work hours we can talk. Dismissed." He almost growled while you blushed at him pulling you close. "Did he pay for your things?"

"... Kai how can I let you or him pay something for me when I know you have literally almost nothing on your bank account?"

He tsked while guiding you to the living room.

"... I apologize for that. When the yakuza finally get back to its glory days we will have money.. so I can finally treat you right."

"You already treat me right where all this coming from?" You asked in worry as he scoffed and looked at everywhere but you.

"Aparently not enough for people to mistake you and Chrono as a couple of out things."

You stopped abruptly as you stuttered before smiling at seeing the tip for his ears covered Ina pretty pink color.

"You know that Hari sees me more like a sister right?" You spoke while catching up to him "He cares for me because you care... he is your friend after all."

Silence.. but you could see the way his shoulders sagged a bit in relief as he walked with you.

"Besides, he did defend me and my honor when a guy was pestering me about my number-"

"What?" The man snarled and you jumped at the pissed off look he held now.

"I-Is fine he didn't touched me-"

"I want details. Now." He growled as you sighed.

Later on you just deadpanned at Kurono coming to tell you later on the next day that he got his ass beat and Kai went after the dude in question that annoyed both of you.

"Why did he even got mad at you?"

"Saud I didn't protect his angel enough." Kurono muttered a should felt your face explode in warmth at the pet name he used for you sometimes being said out loud.

Etsy Deletes the Reselling and Gift Baskets Legal Policies In Favour of New "Creativity Standards"

This morning (July 9, 2024) Etsy released several announcements regarding what can be sold on Etsy, new categorizations for items sold on Etsy, and a new ad campaign. You can read my early thoughts on that here.

As part of this overhaul, they abolished 2 longstanding site policies, namely the ban on reselling in the handmade category, and the ban on almost all gift baskets containing commercial goods. Since they deleted those pages and didn't even mention those rules in any of their announcements, I have preserved those now-dead policies below. Thanks to Bing for still having caches of deleted pages!

Dawntrail Updates!

Figured I may as well toss a post to the void with DT rapidly approaching. Ahem. Hello! First of all...

Wow... thanks a bunch! I'm happy this little project has proven to be so helpful for so many folks out there! I figured once I stopped updating that this blog was gonna fizzle out into obscurity but I'm still getting quite a bit of interaction despite the inactivity (I really do miss Tumblr sometimes...)

Anyway, wanted to put an update out here on things going forward after DT drops and knowing how rambly and Autistic™ I tend to get, I'll just put that in a cut.

So as I've mentioned in passing in the tags of a random ask, I'm sort of considering opening comms for ref sheets again due to really Really Spicy money-related happenings in my personal life. However, there's a few steps along the way before I make this a reality and this isn't even a full guarantee it'll happen as I'll also be opening art commissions in the near future and those will take more time and priority over ref sheets PLUS there's the factors that led me to closing in the first place.

I'm trying to steer away from using Anamnesis going forward for a number of reasons (some borderline petty, I admit) but I've been introduced to some nifty new plugins that are slowly taking the program's place that make posing infinitely easier and also fix the primary issue I had with Ana which was.... not allowing unique NPC faces to show in gpose anymore. (Yes I'm aware that they still worked for carbuncles and the like but that was just enough of a hassle for my posing needs that it made the sheets Not worth making anymore since I was already dealing with other stress on the side at the time as well). I'm still learning how to effectively utilize said plugins and once I've gotten better and mastered them that'll be the end of step 1.

Step 2 is gonna be... well... waiting for DT to drop. As we all know, a massive graphics overhaul is coming, so there's very little point in opening requests for new characters now when the models are about to be more detailed and will very likely be tweaked along the way if player feedback affects NPCs down the line.

Step 3... that I dread... revamping my studio yet again. Mostly just gonna be taking out some of the extra light sources since those tend to get in the way when the model is really tall and also researching more setups. May also see about utilizing chromakey as well. Idk idk. I doubt I'll have the energy to make the sheets super pretty like some folks do, but taking transparent shots will cut out a lot of distracting factors and make the finished sheets look a bit better I think.

Then after that, I'll probably do some practice rounds and re-work sheets for popular characters as well as fixing the old, shitty sheets from when I first started that were Way Too Yellow that I've been meaning to fix for literal years now (so sorry to all my fellow color-picking artists friends out there I'm sorry that's so annoying... TTATT) and from there I'll see if it's something I still want to pursue and open comms for.

I'll shoot for maybeeeee mid-August or so for the next update. Obviously, I still have a job and I'll be enjoying DT with the rest of you guys so it'll be some time before I even think of doing ref sheets again, but I at least wanted to throw out there that this is still something I think about, but a number of factors made me stop to begin with. One factor being...

...pricing! If/when I open again, it'll likely be a proper commission post on ko-fi and I'm thinking of starting at $10 with tipping enabled. In the beginning, I was allowing requests for the barest minimum of a donation and the constant $3 for characters with a ton of details to cover was getting a bit demotivating after a while, so I'm sorry if this puts off past and future clients, but I am doing all of this in my free time, so... ;w;

I'm Cat [she/her | aroace] and I write sci-fi and fantasy with a dose of cosmic horror. I love mixing genres and general experimentation. Whether my work is marketable or not is less important than having fun. My absolute favorite things are found family, robots, and time travel, and I am a firm believer that platonic relationships can be just as fierce and important as romantic ones. Most of my novels are set within a shared universe I call the Starfish Saga and that's my main focus, though I do have quite a few exciting projects outside that.

rethinking my tumblr, I suppose + new tagging system!

From this entry onwards, I will begin to implement a new and consistent tagging system inspired by what Vylet Pony has done for her tumblr. The basic gist is that:

#ss.spiel will be used for any of the rambles that I make, such as this one

#ss.saga will be used for new uploads, whether it be new YouTube videos or music

#ss.art will be used for drawings that I make

With that out of the way, what exactly do I mean when I say “I’m rethinking my Tumblr”?

Well, very recently I’ve come into grips that my main audience — the people and fans that most interact with me — are all on my YouTube. I wouldn’t really expect an awful ton of them to have twitter or tumblr or bsky accounts for regular use, and so for those platforms, I mainly maintain a presence in there to promote my works and to make connections with mutuals and friends. I also mostly exert a lot of my focus on creating YouTube videos, while on tumblr I just kinda reblog cool things.

It’s for these exact reasons why my tumblr page has been looking VERY different lately. The dashboard design for my page has a new colour palette. My Mint Kirby profile picture — by the talented clownpalette of whom I’m very thankful — is swapped out for Minty Juniper, my ponysona (for clarity’s sake, this is NOT a complete rejection of the Mint Kirby character that I’ve kept up for 5 years). And finally, as I mentioned in an earlier entry, the Twitter aesthetic I had for my blog became dated and bloated and that’s what prompted a simpler overhaul of ScoutSunset.tumblr.com.

All of these changes (well, maybe “almost”, since the PFP change was mostly done out of a whim) reflect a change of strategy for my tumblr presence…or rather a removal of strategy. I’m now more concerned with making my tumblr more personal than trying to make as much impressions on here as possible.

I may somehow have a post of mine pop off randomly, and that’d be OK. But I know where my audience is and where my focus lies upon. That being said, I do appreciate this site — it was fun executing the blog’s new look the way I preferred — and the small interactions I can get from time to time, and I especially appreciate the friends, followers and fans that have stuck around thus far! I hope this entry wasn’t too intimidating and that you understand. I love y’all.

Welcome to Spiral Abyss!

This event will run until September 30th and feature three floors of combat, each divided into two waves. You have been assigned a team of allies to traverse these floors with and will get progressively stronger as you continue. Here's how to get started:

Take a look at our Combat Handbook. If you've seen it before, look again. It's been completely overhauled, and changes have been made as well as explanations and further details added for the more complex aspects of our system. Familiarize yourself with this, and reference it regularly throughout the event.

Check your team assignments here. This document will show both your team and their abilities as well as the enemies you will be facing. Please copy and paste your team's section into a new document to be shared in your team chat.

The provided enemies are for Wave 1. When either side of the fight (enemies or allies) have all reached 0HP, please ping a mod in your team channel. We will update the main doc with your next wave of enemies. If your team wipes, you will all be revived at full HP upon the start of Wave 2. There is no penalty for not completing either wave, and combat will immediately end at 11:59 PM EST on the last day of the floor.

Here is the general schedule for floors:

Floor 1: September 16th - 19th Floor 2: September 21st - 24th Floor 3: September 26 - 30th

Combat will be written in a thread on the dashboard, with one thread for each floor. Replies are expected to be short in order to maintain the fast paced nature of this event. To this effect, teams should not go more than 12 hours without a post to the thread. Please communicate availability regularly with your teammates and be ready to change turn orders based on it. Activity will be monitored and members who are regularly delaying their team's progress may be subject to removal from the event and forfeiting of prizes.

As a reminder: all kits are subject to changes after being tested. If there is something you find that you dislike or believe should be different about how your character plays, please make note of this for the feedback form at the event's end. This event is meant to test all aspects of this system, it is expected that there will be kinks and flaws.

If you have any questions, please reference the Abyss specific questions channel in the group's server. Every team has at least one mod on it, but if yours is unavailable do not hesitate to ping another!

In April, we finally completed a pass rewriting plagiarism in all articles that were discovered and tagged as having copied text from episode transcripts. We plan to make another scan in the future comparing articles to episode transcripts to catch any we missed tagging in the first round, but we are ecstatic to have completed this pass.

Fletching and Moondrop Traveling Carnival of Curiosities was overhauled in anticipation of the upcoming release of The Mighty Nein Origins: Mollymauk Tealeaf, part of an overall effort to polish articles known to be or believed potentially relevant to the comic.

In miscellaneous articles, which may not be relevant to current releases but remain very important to our wiki, Rockguard Garrison and Ruhn-Shak were updated and untagged as stubs, and Talks Machina 49: Curious Beginnings and 50: A Show of Scrutiny now document all answers.

We look forward to what May brings in new releases of Campaign 3, of Midst, and of Mighty Nein Origins.

New Site Revamp! (+Updates)

Hi! This site hasn't been all that active in a while since I've focused on other interests. Nothing too bad, but if anything, it's helped me learn that being engaged in other interests helps with getting burnt out less.

With that being said, I have a lot of things to say, so as usual, everything else is under the cut.

Site Overhauls

Since releasing my DiffSinger voicebanks, I figured that this site needed a major revamp, and I've been working on it on-and-off when it came to figuring out which theme I wanted to go with. It took a couple of tries to get the theme I wanted, but I've settled with the Vermillion theme from ricecodes. It's responsive, has a dark/light mode, has an all-in-one sidebar for important information, and many more features ^^

I have also removed any unnecessary pages from the site to make it less cluttered. We also moved (most of) the Frequently Asked Questions page to the Ask tab for easier access. Additionally, the Terms of Service page has been renamed to Guidelines, but still need to be followed in order to use the voicebanks and resources hosted on this site. The Menu tab now has a directory of pages and tags via the Navigation section, and an Affiliates section.

Also, Maria and Mario's trivia sections in their character profile pages have been revamped to keep up to date with their current lore.

I would like to announce that affiliate applications are now open! If you so happen to manage your own voicebanks (regardless of platform), have a website dedicated to said voicebanks, and are at least acquaintances/mutuals with HIRATELIER, you are qualified to apply. The 1.1.0 update for Fuwa Maria and Fuwa Mario's DiffSinger voicebanks is on the way! I'm not sure when that will happen, but if anything, it could release before or on their 10th anniversary. New updates with DiffSinger mainly have to do with the VR tension parameter option and proper multilingual (XLS) implementation, and there could be more coming in the future.

I'm still in the process of labeling new data for Maria and Mario's datasets, each with 8 new songs. They contain a mixture of strong singing (mostly to further improve their power vocal modes and range) and English singing (to also improve their English pronunciation). There's also a possibility that they may support newer languages via parallel training, and if possible, I would like to implement Tagalog, Chinese and Korean support.

10th Anniversary Plans

Maria and Mario's 10th anniversary is next year, and I have some big plans for it...if everything goes to plan. So far, you can expect the following things once it's their anniversary:

Newly revamped fullbody illustrations for UTAU and DiffSinger (+ new designs...?)

New graphics

Cover + PV

BUT...for the first time in AUSPICIOUS VOICE's history, I'll be celebrating Maria and Mario's half-anniversary, which will be on October 3! It probably won't be as big as the actual anniversary itself, but you can expect a cover, or art, or even both of them. It entirely depends on my time and energy.

I've got a lot on my plate when it comes to juggling a bunch of personal projects, but here's to hoping I can get through all of them without burning myself out.

I'm making a new pinned post!

I would like to make this explicitly clear that I am a pro ship, pro fiction, whatever you want to call it, blog. I don't post about it much, but I do ship a lot of problematic stuff as a way of coping with my trauma, which often results in some things that may be triggering or uncomfortable. If you are a proship DNI blog, steer clear, or at least leave me alone. I believe in ship and let ship.

I am a system. I have complex OSDDID and haven't fully sorted out exactly what type, but I know I'm a system at the least. I have many blogs (I'll tag them below) for alters, and one normal RP blog for a side character.

@the-arboreal-system is my main system blog. We will not post any shipping or likewise content here, just stuff about systems and political activism (I am a proud extreme leftist).

@kieran-the-panther is my Maine Coon/black panther mix alter. They go by many pronouns and are catgender pansexual polyamorous.

@shadowdemon-girl is Nyx, a trans girl shadow demon, and engaged to Kieran with 12 demon-kittens. She goes by she/it pronouns and is neptunic and polyamorous as well.

@i-wish-i-was-sleeping-rn is one of my MANY fictives, Nico Di Angelo. He (in the system) is gay and trans.

@crystal-creature is another fictive, Hazel Levesque. She is unlabeled as of now.

@son-of-sally-jackson is a Percy Jackson fictive. He is homo flexible.

@daughter-of-wine is my OC and another alter, Lila Garcia. She is bisexual and a daughter of Dionysus.

@jacqueline-cade-daughter-of-ares is another OC alter, and she is a crossover OC between PJO and The Outsiders.

@angel-wings-and-stim-toys is Celine, a little of mine. She is aroace agender and doesn't care about pronouns.

Hey all, sorry it's taking me a while to update you properly about what's going on IRL. There is... a lot that's been happening and some of it has taken me awhile to wrap my head around and figure out how to explain so please bare with me.

If you just want to know what's happening with my various blogs and accounts (on Tumblr that'd be this blog right here and @official-fresh-tv-blog) then feel free to skip to "My Fandom Situation" at the end of the post (hence the Total Drama tag attached). At some point I'll be updating the abouts on both blogs so if you CBA to read this then you can at least get a vague idea of what's changed when those update. You may also be able to kinda twig one of the main announcements from the tags as well.

I'm gonna put all this shit under the cut because it is LONG. As always if I forget to tag something please let me know so I can add it ASAP. And if you have any questions please don't be afraid to ask me outright.

My Health Situation

As I've mentioned before both my physical and mental health are utter shite that I barely get any help with. I have very little recollection of my childhood, especially before age 8 or so, as an adult when it comes to my dissociation I only lose a couple of days memory at most. Despite this I recently lost two whole months of my memory, hence my disappearance around late April/early May to late June/early July.

A couple of weeks ago I was finally able to speak to a doctor on video call about my mental health and to get a clearer picture on what my dissociation actually is. Given my background and anecdotal evidence from friends (but not family because they notice absolute fuck all) I'm pursuing a more up to date diagnosis of Dissociative Identity Disorder which the doctor agreed is likely (as well as FINALLY getting an official C-PTSD diagnosis). In total honesty I've had my suspicions since around 2018/19 when friends started mentioning suspicious changes in my behaviour and voice as well as my apparent use of a completely different name at one point.

When I finally started interacting with other people who dissociate within the Total Drama fandom during the lockdown in 2020 I realised what might be happening and kept telling myself to reach out to other users but I was far too scared to say anything due to my own lack of knowledge on DID and Dissociation in general and my confusion about how I could possibly not know for so long. If there are any users with DID that are willing to reach out I'd really appreciate it, especially as I'm getting used to the various terminology and figuring out how to interact with the rest of the system, most of which understandably ignore me for the most part given some of my previous shitty and ignorant behaviour and reluctance to get properly diagnosed.

I still haven't told the family I am in touch with simply because they don't particularly give a shit about my mental health, they tend to just assume they know what's going on and run with that. The fact that zero people in my family noticed anything strange when other people around me did also put me off saying anything, right now I'm planning to wait until I have an official diagnosis but I may say something sooner.

I'm waiting on two appointments, one with the same doctor to catch up in September and one with a psychologist who'll have a deeper understanding of trauma and Dissociative issues. I'm also waiting to start new meds as mine have been completely overhauled, this means I'm currently having withdrawal symptoms coming off the old ones and when the new ones are finally ready I'll likely be a bit erratic for the first few weeks due to the side effects. Apologies in advance, I promise several people IRL have been informed and will be keeping an eye on me to make sure I'm okay until the meds kick in properly.

Following my two month memory lapse I also had Covid for the majority of July and am still kinda foggy now, which explains the rest of my absence. I'm not entirely sure what my physical health is like due to having lost my memory but my chronic pain doesn't seem to be flaring up at the moment at least, that being said I was having major problems with my chronic pain prior to my two month dissociative period.

On the plus side of things I finally have an appointment booked with a new NHS gender identity clinic in London so that I can get assessed to start Testosterone therapy! At the moment it's tentatively booked in for September 3rd however I've been told they may be able to move it to a different time slot if they can find one with one of their newer staff given how difficult it'll be for me to travel up there for the early morning (for context it takes about 3 hours to get to London from where I am in Dorset and another 3 hours to get back, most of the appointment slots are at 8 or 9am!)

My Home Situation

Absolute fuck all has changed with my home situation. I'm still stuck at the house where I was previously abused a lot and am not currently in a position where I can find a new place or move in with someone else. A couple of friends have offered to let me sofa surf back and forth between them if needed but I have no immediate long term plans.

I found out a couple days ago that Damien decided to make a post on my behalf venting about my home situation which I will now be deleting. Essentially while everyone in the household caught Covid last month my relationship with my Mum swung back to being quite abusive again and she threatened to kick me out. That being said, I will acknowledge she has genuinely been trying to understand my situation and be a better mother towards me since I became homeless the first time around back in 2018 and no physical abuse has taken place since then.

Right now it appears I'm safe but at the time Damien posted there appeared to be a very high chance that I was going to be kicked out and have nowhere to live. My mum hasn't brought up her threats again since Damien's vent post so hopefully we still have somewhere to stay for the time being.

My Money Situation

Leading on from my home situation, my money situation has worsened drastically. As many of you know I've been fighting a losing battle for years attempting to get my disability benefits back and since being made redundant twice I've been living solely off of the single component of Universal Credit which amounts to less than £400 a month to cover all my living expenses. My housing benefit is gone until I'm able to leave Mum's and I'm still waiting for my appeal to get the unfit for work/sick portion of my Universal Credit back.

My mum refuses to budge on the amount of money that I pay her to stay each month and she has recently been getting me to pay for more frivolous expenses like multiple takeaways because she hasn't been buying enough groceries and being ill has left the three of us unable to cook. Factor in other expenses like transport to get to appointments, the most basic phone bill I can get away with, and unexpected emergencies like my tech breaking and I'm no longer able to cover my living expenses at all and no longer have any savings money left to cushion the blow.

I'm now at a point where I'm in my overdraft every month and resorting to begging friends for loans to keep me afloat so I don't get charged. The situation with my health has not helped with being able to find work, either freelance or a permanent role, so unless I'm able to get money from things like my Ebay, Etsy, or Redbubble stores I don't have anything else coming in that can help me cover my most basic needs.

I'm doing my best to get back on track with job hunting as both the job centre and the local Restart program I've been forced to go onto are insisting I need to be applying for a certain amount of jobs per week and attending regular face to face appointments with them otherwise they'll take away my benefits. I've almost finished updating my CV and website and have a mandatory job fair I've been told to go to on Wednesday so hopefully I can find work again soon, but given my health situation and the fact that I shouldn't actually be working this may still be very difficult.

My Fandom Situation

You may have noticed by now that my Etsy store has been closed for a few months and I've gone back to posting a lot more infrequently on my Tumblr, DeviantArt, and Archive of our Own accounts. I've also been letting asks pile up in my inbox. I'm attempting to catch up on my fandom stuff as fast as I can but obviously I'll be doing this around all the IRL stuff I'm dealing with.

For some reason a lot of the asks and messages I've been receiving have been straight up disappearing, right now I only have one ask on each blog and one private message to my knowledge, everything else has somehow gone. If when I post answers to both asks you don't see yours answered please feel free to send it again and I'll get to it as soon as I can! If it's something I'm not comfortable answering I'll say so outright so you know that I did receive and view your ask.

I have a massive backlog of fics and art I'm trying to finish off and post, again I'll get to these as and when I can before starting on any new projects. I've been keeping a spreadsheet of all the smaller pieces I want to work on for people to vote on once I've cleared my backlog. My larger projects will take a little (okay, a lot) more time to post.

I'll only be reopening my Etsy store once I'm certain I've got a handle on my health, as usual I'll only be accepting a few orders at a time and keeping the prices fairly cheap so they're more affordable for people that want to buy. As always, Redbubble is always active as is my Ebay account, though there are still a few products I need to update or upload on both platforms that aren't on there yet. If there's any art you'd like me to prioritise adding for you to purchase on Redbubble please feel free to reach out and let me know.

I'm going to be updating the about posts on both my Tumblr blogs soon to better reflect what they're for and who is posting. I'm currently planning on making the Ronnie Rambles tag my personal one instead of using it just to show which posts have been queued up ahead of time. The two alters that I've talked to will definitely have their own tags as well though I have no idea how often they'll be posting.
