you know, i like the "jonathan is afraid of being fired from his job" take much more than the "haha oblivious man" take, but it occurs to me that he… isn't really?
yes, he is doing this because of his job, but it's not that his boss is forcing him to or that he thinks he'll disappoint people by going back; it's because he sees it as his duty. it is a small difference but i feel like it matters
here's the may fourth entry:
However, there was business to be done, and I could allow nothing to interfere with it.
and here's the may fifth entry:
I handed to [Dracula] the sealed letter which Mr. Hawkins had entrusted to me. He opened it and read it gravely; then, with a charming smile, he handed it to me to read. One passage of it, at least, gave me a thrill of pleasure.
"I must regret that an attack of gout, from which malady I am a constant sufferer, forbids absolutely any travelling on my part for some time to come; but I am happy to say I can send a sufficient substitute, one in whom I have every possible confidence. He is a young man, full of energy and talent in his own way, and of a very faithful disposition. He is discreet and silent, and has grown into manhood in my service. He shall be ready to attend on you when you will during his stay, and shall take your instructions in all matters."
this doesn't make him stressed! he's not afraid of the responsibility itself — he's happy that he's made mr. hawkins proud! (and that line, "has grown into manhood in my service," makes me think they have a closer bond than just a employer-employee one; vague spoilers for far-far-future entries but didn't jonathan refer to him as a father figure once?)
so it's not, exactly, that he thinks he can't turn back because of the disapproval; it's that he won't let himself do it, because he has a job to do, goddammit.

Redacted-tober 2023 Day Twenty-Three
Prompt: William & Haunting
Pairing: William/Original Listener Character
cw: discussion of the Surge accident, William calls his listener Cher (French for “dear”)
Summary: Yet another human goes traipsing into Worldworld at night… Fifth time’s the charm.
Read on AO3 here!
<- Previous Day
“Now, let me tell you why this isn’t like your typical haunting,” you say excitedly to the camera, traipsing through the abandoned amusement park with the joy and gracelessness of the toddlers of its glory days. “In addition to the lives lost in the Surge tragedy and the slew of mysterious incidents that plagued park goers beforehand, Wonderworld has been a hotbed of suspicious, supernatural activity the whole twenty years that it’s been closed. Disappearances, attacks, and unexplained, nightly wailing are just a few of the phenom- phennem- phenomenee? Fuck.”
You jam your thumb on the pause button and stomp your boots in the dirt and debris, thwacking yourself on the forehead with the selfie stick. The cheery, onscreen persona falls, and you groan in frustration. Again, you wonder how an ambitious skeptic with a masters degree in journalism and a bachelor’s in history ended up ghost hunting in the muck and cold and dark. Then you remember the state of the job market and the experience required for an entry level position and paste the wide smile back on your face.
‘Another eight months-’ you think to yourself, checking your ring light and positioning yourself with your back to the overgrowth of dark, rustling trees. ‘-then we can go apply to better places, places that won’t send you to dilapidated, condemned sites alone. Then there won’t be anymore shitty cell phone footage or sound quality or weird shadows behind me in the shape of a creature… wait, what?’ You whip your whole body around, your heel spinning and slipping on fallen, rotting leaves, and your sight shimmers black and red and white as you hit your head and look up at the man standing over you.
“Are you alright, cher?” he asks, a soft French lilt to his words a complement to his sweet, gentle voice. If he wants to laugh at the mortifying spill you just took, you think he hides it well, though you can’t see his face because of the moon looming behind him. “I didn’t mean to frighten you.”
“Didn’t mean to- are you fucking serious? Why else would you be lurking like fucking Dracula if not to fucking frighten?” The figure above you makes a sound akin to a sputter, a stifled laugh, and your face burns red hot at the humiliation, at how idiotic you must look splayed spread eagle on the ground with mud in your hair.
“Because I own this land,” he says, coughing delicately to cover his amusement. “And I was alerted to an intruder with a camera and ungainly gait. You wouldn’t happen to know where they’d be, would you, dear?” You pray to some sort of god you’re also shrouded in shadow because you can feel heat in your face spread from your cheeks to your ears and neck, and the realization this dulcet, charming gentleman might see that just makes it worse.
“I was told this was public property,” you sputter, lying through your teeth. Your boss had informed you the land was owned by some eccentric millionaire but also that security was few and far between. You try to get up and head out before he calls the police, but your ankle gives out from under you, dropping you back in the mud to add insult to injury.
“You were told wrong. Thankfully, I quite pride myself on being a good host, and I refuse to let any guest, invited or not, leave my care worse than they came into it.” The still anonymous man shifts his body weight, offering you a hand, and you worry you may have concussion when the refracting light makes his eyes gleam a hypnotizing swirl of silver and red, when the shadows make his teeth seem impossibly long. Despite these tricks of the light, he is irresistibly beautiful, and you place your hand in his and your trust in him. “My name is William Solaire. Let’s see how my family and I might help you.”

Note
You're the person who I originally heard about dracula daily from so I hope its okay to ask a question I have been obsessing about all afternoon: is the timeline of the last two entrys wrong? If Jonathon arrived and wrote in his journal early morning on the fifth, slept, had his evening with dracula and before going to bed wrote a journal entry wouldn't it be the sixth not the seventh? Sorry if this is weird to ask I just can't stop thinking about it and I feel like you also get obsessed details
So I haven't read Dracula prior to this (despite... owning it... we won't talk about my unread books), but from what I understood, the May 5th entry was written in part during the carriage ride and then finished during the early morning, immediately prior to dawn, and the May 7th entry is written after dawn on the morning of the 7th! I actually had the same question, so I'd gone to check (and double checked now).
With that in mind, my guess is that our good friend Jonathan is dating his journal entries when he starts them, and then writes until he's finished his recounting of events.
Someone who is more familiar with the book might have a better explanation for us, though!

Dracula Lucy x Mina fanfic
Select Entries from the Diary of Wilhelmina “Mina” Murray, 1897-98
A Lucy x Mina AU by counttwihard
The third of May, eighteen ninety-seven:
My dearest fiancee Jonathan Harker has departed for Transylvania to assist Count Dracula with realty affairs through an extended stay at his finest castle among the Carpathians. My attitude towards his departure is composed dually of wonder and sorrow, as I imagine the glorious expanse of towers, battlements, and bastions set against a backdrop of infinitely rolling mountains. I cannot help but wish that this business voyage were timed differently, as it sorely interrupts the planning of our wedding arrangements. My heart aches in anticipation of his return, and my thoughts flutter to morbid possibilities as I remain in ignorance of the status of his arrival.
To distract myself from his absence, I shall resolve to spend more time with my friend Lucy. Her company brings upon me an emotion indescribable and also incomparable to the love I have for Jonathan: one of composure, safety, carefreeness, and much laughter! With her, I need not worry about assuming a certain “appropriate” manner; the personality I possess around her is undoubtedly true to myself.
Yes, I shall spend time with Lucy…
The tenth of May, eighteen ninety-seven:
What splendid news! My Jonathan has arrived safely at Castle Dracula and has commenced his discussions of business. Jonathan also mentioned that he and Dracula have gotten “intimately acquainted.” I have written to Lucy with this news, and I need not worry longer about his condition, which brings me the greatest relief. Though, I will continue to spend a heightened amount of quality time with Lucy. Among these past seven days, we have accompanied each other on outings to downtown London to purchase stockings, ribbons, and a particularly vibrant orange nightgown that perfectly compliments Lucy’s hair. In the mornings, we enjoy walks through the gardens of my father’s estate. One afternoon, we entertained a particularly humorous and embarrassing conversation revolving around my intimacy with Jonathan which came about from my reading Arabian Nights… Lucy tickles me with the audacity of her jests! The amount of joy she brings leads me to believe that she is indeed my closest friend, and even friendship feels like an insufficient descriptor. The strength of our relationship, it feels even stronger, as if our connection transcends mere friendship…
The twenty-eighth of May, eighteen ninety-seven:
Lucy has informed me of the status of three proposals that she has received from Dr. John Seward, Arthur Holmwood, and Quincey P. Morris. She has chosen Holmwood! This is such an exciting development for my dearest Lucy, as she has been long fantasizing about the future of her marital status. I must say, it is fitting to Lucy’s character for her to have three proposals in consideration… She is skilled in courting men in abundance! I shall arrange for a more extended introduction to Mr. Holmwood, though I wish for Lucy to convey to him that he must not accompany us on our garden walks and our shopping trips downtown. I never thought Holmwood to be that impressive of a figure anyway.
The tenth of July, eighteen ninety-seven:
Oh, my worry grows. Two months have passed since the arrival of Jonathan’s first letter, and in that time, I have not once been informed of his condition, his whereabouts, or the status of his business transactions with Count Dracula. While my optimism urges me to imagine him in good condition, I cannot help but consider the most dreadful of possibilities.
I shall go on holiday to lift my spirits. Yes, I shall visit Lucy in Whitby.
The twenty-fifth of July, eighteen ninety-seven:
My time in Whitby has been splendid. Lucy and Arthur’s residence is vast and impeccably decorated. I wish to request to extend my stay in Whitby, as my time with Lucy has been the most delightful. Yesterday, Lucy and I ventured to the Whitby Sea Front, where we shared the most stunning views of the English waters. In that moment, as we gazed thoughtlessly out at the atypically calm waves, I felt a curious disturbance in my stomach. This wasn’t a feeling of sickness but rather something oddly pleasurable, but foreign. The sensation seemed to infiltrate my skull, and a buzzing feeling radiated from the surface of my forehead in vibrating waves. Never in that moment have I felt my heart so full, or my chest so proud. At that moment, I was so preoccupied with unfamiliar sensations that I failed to realize Lucy was leaning into me, with her head nestled in the cavity between my shoulder and my neck. Without thinking, almost as if I was being controlled by a supernatural force, I tenderly lifted her chin with my hand, and we shared a soft kiss as the waves awoke from stillness and began to crash forcefully on the shore.
The twelfth of August, eighteen ninety-seven:
Another month has passed, and I still have not received a letter from Jonathan. As the time since hearing from him last grows, my optimism dwindles.
The most horrifying events transpired last night. A most tumultuous thunderstorm sent branches rattling against my bedroom window, pulling me out of my slumber. I awoke and approached my window to see Lucy in her nightgown, gliding across the courtyard towards the graveyard! She has been having episodes of sleepwalking recently, but this occurrence was particularly dangerous. Without a second thought, I rushed down the steps and walked out into the violent winds of the storm. I ran across the yard to find Lucy lying painfully on a stone bench in the graveyard, unconscious. With instant purpose, I rushed to her and lifted her onto her feet, wrapping her arm around my shoulders and guiding her back inside. As we entered the house, I noticed the most odd markings on her neck: two pin-sized pricks, teeming red with blood.
The nineteenth of August, eighteen ninety-seven:
My dearest Lucy has fallen ill. Her sickness commenced with her sleepwalking episode, leading me to believe the cause of illness to be the cold rain and wind.  However, this assumption has been sorely disproven in only a week’s time. Tragically, Lucy’s condition has been rapidly worsening. With every day that passes, she develops increasingly severe symptoms, which have progressed to a state that has perplexed even the most esteemed physicians. Dr. Van Helsing has been called to assume the role of her primary caretaker, and I wish so desperately that he is successful in curing this atrocious disease. Lucy’s symptoms seem to defy science… her teeth have become sharp, her eyes have become fogged, and her demeanor has become ill-tempered, erratic, and violent.
Oh how I wish for my old Lucy…
The twenty-seventh of August, eighteen ninety-seven:
Even in her alarming condition, I have been visiting Lucy for several hours every day. I must confess that the time I spend worrying about Lucy’s state and begging for Dr. Van Helsing's permission to visit Lucy far exceeds the time I spend anticipating a letter from Jonathan. I have an overwhelming and defining compulsion to care for sick Lucy as her condition worsens. I reflect on our most joyous experiences. As her illness progresses, I long for the Lucy I once knew, the Lucy that accompanied me for garden walks, downtown day trips, and tender kisses on the beach. I meditate on our unwavering connection, one that cannot be described by the word friendship.
Indeed, the obligation I feel to visit her can only genuinely be described as romantic attraction…
Hope you all liked it! Lmk if I should write a second chapter...

Van Helsing: Mina's been a great contributor thus far, but it's time to leave her out of the hunt. Her poor weak, fragile woman heart couldn't handle such horrors. Women just aren't as mentally or emotionally stable as us men.
Jonathan: *still has severe PTSD and is about to be forced to relive his trauma*
Arthur: *had just had his fifth mental breakdown this week*
Quincey: *thinks its a good idea to shoot a bat indoors*
Jack: *going through an existential crisis upon learning the supernatural exists*

Society has progressed past the need for more Dracmina adaptations. We need a Dracula adaptation where Mina's unbridled hatred and rage towards the Count is so apparent that she's hellbent on getting revenge. We need a movie where she takes her rightful place as Dracula's arch nemesis instead of Van Helsing, who canonically was nowhere near as hurt by him personally as Mina has. This was the monster who traumatised her husband and murdered her best friend. He hurt the people she loved most, and she's going to make sure he hurts for the rest of his immortal existence.

20 Largest Film Letdowns of 2017: From ‘Life’ to ‘Justice League’ (Pictures)
New Post has been published on https://takenews.net/20-largest-film-letdowns-of-2017-from-life-to-justice-league-pictures/
20 Largest Film Letdowns of 2017: From ‘Life’ to ‘Justice League’ (Pictures)
Whereas there have been big hits, 2017 additionally gave us large gambles that didn’t repay, franchise movies that appear like they’ve diminishing returns, and would-be franchises which might be unlikely to see a sequel. Listed here are the 20 greatest film letdowns of the yr.
“The Darkish Tower”:Stephen King Followers waited for a decade to see the theatrical adaptation of his hottest non-horror property and as a substitute bought a 90 minute incomprehensible mess that did not do the unique novels justice.
“Valerian and the Metropolis of a Thousand Planets Filmmaker”: Luc Besson waited 20 years to lastly make his favourite comedian. The movie is honest however overstuffed, visually attractive however dramatically clunky, and it represents a singular imaginative and prescient whereas concurrently that includes two wildly miscast actors within the lead roles.
“The Nice Wall”:USA At this time referred to the movie as “an entire trainwreck.” An try and please each side of the Pacific missed the mark with a weak plot and underdeveloped characters. The whitewashing controversy with star Matt Damon did not assist both.
“Vehicles three”:The animated Pixar movie by no means fairly lived as much as what got here earlier than it and the script tended to be pretty unremarkable, with numerous by-the-numbers character growth and extra terrible jokes for Tow Mater (Larry the Cable Man).
“Pirates of the Caribbean: Useless Man Inform No Tales”: For a collection that had already walked the plank with scurvy sequels, this fifth entry within the “Pirates” collection was incoherent and critically maligned.
“Transformers: The Final Knight”: Michael Bay’s fifth installment of the “Transformers” collection permits Mark Wahlberg to play one more character who’s each the Chosen One and all the time proper about every little thing — leading to a movie that’s loud, disjointed, and complicated.
“Baywatch”: Torn between being a hard-R comedy, a coming-of-age story or a straight-up reboot, this movie fails in any respect three. Turning a dopey previous TV motion present right into a comedy is far simpler stated than carried out. Even in case you put Dwayne Johnson in trunks.
“Energy Rangers”: The movie primarily based on the youngsters’ TV present did not be the “Energy Rangers” film followers clamored for, and the poor field workplace and combined vital response means followers will not get a sequel that includes the Inexperienced Ranger.
“Ghost within the Shell”: American variations of Japanese manga and anime merely do not work, particularly when the principle roles are whitewashed by non-Asian actors. Together with not respecting the supply materials, a convoluted plot would not assist both.
“King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword:”  A film made up of three completely different “King Arthur” screenplays that Warner Bros. purchased mashed into one might be not a great way to spend $175 million.
“Alien Covenant”: Director Ridley Scott made an interstellar model of “Friday the 13th,” with a decent ensemble of actors because the camp counselors and varied fanged slimeballs filling in for Jason Voorhees. Audiences weren’t having any of it.
“The Mummy”:The inaugural entry in Common’s multi-film gamble that may flip their legendary horror characters (Frankenstein, Dracula, et. al.) into an “Avengers”-like cross-pollinated saga known as Darkish Universe, is an out-of-the-gate stumble that doesn’t even have the sense to sport its personal so-bad-it’s-fun character.
“mom!”: Darren Aronofsky’s divisive gonzo film is the bottom wide-release opening of star Jennifer Lawrence’s profession, and the movie was punished with an “F” CinemaScore rating from exiting viewers members.
“Suburbicon”:Matt Damon didn’t have an excellent 2017 at film theaters. Even with George Clooney directing, and a script by the Coen Bros., the movie was an enormous bust on the field workplace making solely $9 million off a $25 million funds.
“Life”:Regardless of killing off Ryan Reynolds within the first 30 minutes, the movie was an excessive amount of of an “Alien” clone that did not carry something new to desk. The C+ CinemaScore from audiences did not assist both.
“Fifty Shades Darker”: Anastasia Steele and Christian Gray got here again in a film that resembles an un-asked-for collaboration between the Hallmark and Playboy Channels.
“The Circle”: Tom Hanks and Emma Watson are caught in a Dave Eggers adaptation striving for relevance however by no means discovering realism. An over-the-top and implausible story that tries to be “well timed” and “related” however primarily hits us over the pinnacle with absurd conditions.
“The Emoji Film”:OMG, this animated characteristic is a POS with no LOLs. It’s a soul-crushing catastrophe as a result of it lacks humor, wit, concepts, visible model, compelling performances, a perspective or every other distinguishing attribute that may make it something however an entire waste of your time, to not point out that of the diligent animators who introduced this disaster into being.
“The Home”:This suburbanite on line casino comedy flirts with relevance and wit however principally spins its (roulette) wheels. The uninteresting and unfunny comedy turned Will Ferrell’s worst box-office opening in 18 years.
“Justice League”:The most important letdown of 2017 is DC’s try at a Marvel model “Avengers” film with all of the DC heroes which under-delivered and had a lackluster villain. Field workplace smart, “Justice League” will not even outgross the primary entry in collection, 2013’s “Man of Metal.”

In the world of movies and TV shows, a character’s death can be the most compelling and talked about point in the whole story. Whether it’s tragic and sad, an action packed sacrifice, or completely over the top (we all remember Alan Rickman in Die Hard and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves!), whatever the case, a character’s death can be the most important part of any story. Because of this, many actors have “bitten the bullet” on screen several times in a seemingly never-ending cycle of death as they are cast in a movie and then killed, cast and then killed, and so on. Some actors breakout and become the heroes of the movie screen and always save the day and never die, but until they make it to that stage in their careers, or unless they get typecast as the person who always dies, some actors are destined to be killed again and again. With this list we look at the 15 actors who have had the most on-screen deaths of anyone. The number one spot may surprise you.
#1 Val Kilmer – 15 Times The first entry on our list is an actor who made his name in 80s and 90s big action movies such as Top Gun, Heat, The Saint and of course Batman Forever. Although Val Kilmer made the transition from sidekick to leading man successfully, at least for a few years, that hasn’t stopped him dying a total of 15 times on screen. Some of his biggest movies in which he’s bitten the bullet have been: Tombstone, where he played the infamous Doc Holliday and The Doors, obviously as Kilmer plays Jim Morrison. He also died in The Island Of Dr. Moreau and MacGruber. Some people may argue that Kilmer’s greatest on screen death came when he played Batman in Batman Forever, but we feel that may be a bit harsh.
#2 Brad Pitt – 15 Times The next actor on our list is another person to hit the 15 deaths mark. Brad Pitt has been the poster boy for Hollywood for a number of years now. Starting life out as eye candy in movies like Thelma and Louise, Pitt quickly moved on to leading roles and tackled a lot of the edgier roles in Hollywood such as Seven and Fight Club. Having such a varied career in Hollywood ranging from comedy to action, drama to thriller, Pitt has done it all. His most memorable deaths come in the movies: The Devil’s Own, Legends of the Fall, Kalifornia, Burn After Reading, Troy, The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, and yes, we count Fight Club as well.
#3 Bruce Willis – 15 Times Next we come to an actor that put the “wise cracking” tough guy on the map. Bruce Willis started life out as a private detective on the hit TV show Moonlighting opposite Cybill Shepherd. After a brief crack at a music career (he really did, go check it out!) Willis moved onto the action movies and took the world by storm in the late 1980s by portraying John McClane in Die Hard and its sequels. Since then, Willis has gone on to be one of the biggest names in Hollywood for the past few decades. Not just playing the tough guy, Willis has tackled other roles too and a lot of them end up dead. Some of these movies are: Twelve Monkeys, The Jackal, Death Becomes Her, Sin City, Looper, Armageddon and of course, his most famous screen death of all, The Sixth Sense.
#4 Bill Paxton – 15 Times Next we come to the final actor to make up our 15 on screen deaths club. Bill Paxton is often referred to as being the nice guy of Hollywood. More often than not, the late great Paxton has portrayed the nice or sensible guy in the movies. However, that hasn’t stopped him from branching out from time to time to play nasty and just plain evil. The versatile actor has gotten his teeth into a variety of characters both on the big screen and the small over his career and he was an actor that will be missed by many. Over the course of his career, Paxton is one of the few actors that has been killed by everything that Hollywood has had to throw at him; he’s been killed by a Terminator in Terminator, an Avenger in the TV show Agents of SHIELD, an alien in Aliens, by a Predator in Predator 2, and Nazis in U-571. It’s fair to say that if there was a monster in a movie then Paxton would be killed by it.
#5 Gary Oldman – 16 Times The next entry on our list is an actor that has a bit of a career change with in the movie business. The talented British actor first made a name for himself as an over the top bad guy in movies such as The Fifth Element and Leon. Gary Oldman became known as the scene stealing bad guy that every movie director wanted. As well as that, Oldman has played some of the biggest characters in movies, from Dracula to Sid Vicious. Over the years, however, Oldman has become more of an older statesman of Hollywood and has taken on roles more fitting to his status such as Commissioner Gordon in the Dark Knight trilogy and his roles in The Planet of the Apes reboot movies. With such a long career, Oldman has died many times. Some of his death movies are: The Fifth Element, Leon, Air Force One, Lost In Space, The Firm, Dracula and Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix.
#6 Nicolas Cage – 17 Times Nicolas Cage is an actor that has become synonymous with all things crazy and over the top. The nephew of famous movie director Francis Ford Coppola, Cage wanted nothing more than to make a name for himself in Hollywood without the use of his famous family name. We think that whether you love Cage or hate him, he’s definitely achieved his goal. The eccentric actor has starred in some of the biggest movies in the last twenty years or so. More famous for his action roles, Cage does branch out from time to time to do different movies, such as the family series National Treasure and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. Cage’s movie deaths include: Face Off, Leaving Las Vegas, The Wicker Man, Kick-Ass, Season of The Witch and Cotton Club.
#7 Samuel L. Jackson – 18 Next we come to “Mr. Cool” himself and an actor that has seemingly been in every movie that has been made in the last twenty years. Samuel L. Jackson made his name by starring in a few of Quentin Tarantino’s early movies such as Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown. The ultimate cool guy, Jackson soon branched out to star in a number of movies and crossing all the genres. It must also be noted that Jackson is one of the few stars to have major parts in two of the biggest movie franchises in history: Star Wars, playing Jedi master Mace Windu, and Nick Fury in the MCU. Jackson has had a long and varied career and has starred in so many movies that many people out there would think that he should have died more, but 18 is all he gets. Some of his death scenes include: Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, Deep Blue Sea, Kingsman, Jackie Brown, Django Unchained, Jurassic Park and Kill Bill Volume 2.
#8 Robert De Niro – 18 Times Our next entry is another big actor who is tied with Samuel L. Jackson for 18 screen deaths. The legendary Oscar-winning actor has had a movie career which has spanned more than most and has been involved in some of the biggest, and widely regarded as the best, movies of all times, such as Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and Casino to name just a few. Robert De Niro is arguably one of the most prolific and greatest actors of a generation. Because of the length of De Niro’s career, and his love of violent crime movies, it’s no surprise that we find him here on our list. Although De Niro has survived many movies, there has also been a few movies in which his characters have had to take a dirt nap. These movies include: Brazil, Cape Fear, Heat, Jackie Brown, Hide and Seek, and The Mission.
#9 Liam Neeson – 20 Times The next entry on our list is the first actor to break the 20 on-screen death mark. Liam Neeson has already had a long and successful movie career. The Irish actor was known for taking on big character roles and tackling historical giants such as Schindler’s List, Rob Roy, and Michael Collins. Of course nowadays, Neeson is known for his action roles, in particular in the violent Taken series in which he uses his “skill set” in order to kick some serious bad guy butt across Europe. Neeson’s movie deaths include: Star Wars: Phantom Menace, Batman Begins, Schindler’s List, Michael Collins, Gangs of New York, A Million Ways To Die In The West, The Grey, and The Mission.
#10 Mickey Rourke – 22 Times Not many actors in Hollywood have had such an “up and down” career as Mickey Rourke has had. Starting out as a leading man in 80s movies such as 9 And a Half Weeks and Angel Heart, Rourke turned his back on acting in the 90s and returned to the boxing ring, where he had trained as a boxer in his youth. Although Rourke’s boxing career could be called a success (he had 8 professional fights, winning 6 and drawing 2), his boxing career left him battered and beaten to the point where Rourke need some serious plastic surgery to reconstruct his face. Putting his boxing career behind him, Rourke returned to the movie screen with some big movies such as Sin City and The Wrestler. Over the years, Rourke has died in 22 movies. It could actually be more, but some of his characters either died off screen or were damned to hell like in Angel Heart. But some of his death scenes include: Sin City, Iron Man 2, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Man on Fire, and Double Team.
#11 Gary Busey – 22 Times Already on this list we have mentioned big, eccentric and even crazy actors such as Nicolas Cage and Mickey Rourke, however, in recent years the crown for the most eccentric actor in Hollywood has to go to Gary Busey. Starting his movie career slowly with bit parts in 70s movies, until his big break came playing Buddy Holly in the hugely acclaimed movie The Buddy Holly Story. Since then, Busey has been a prominent force in Hollywood over the last few decades and starred in some of the biggest movies. However, in 1988 Busey had a major motorcycle crash which left him with some serious brain damage which have caused some mental issues for Busey, and his off-screen antics have overshadowed his movie career. Over his career, Busey has died in movies such as Lethal Weapon, Predator 2, The Buddy Holly Story, Point Break, Under Siege, Straight Time, and Let’s Get Harry.
#12 Sean Bean – 25 Times Next we come to the man himself and the actor that inspired this list. Many people out there will be surprised to see that Sean Bean isn’t top of the list of actors that have died most on screen. After all, it seems like every time Bean appears on screen, whether it’s in the movies or on TV, he will die at some point. However, the British actor has only died a total of 25 times, which is a lot less than our top three. It must be noted, though, that although Bean hasn’t had the most on screen deaths, that’s probably only because he hasn’t made as many movies as others on our list. But his death ratio is more than any other actor. In other words, with the amount of screen time he has had against the number of death scenes, Bean would come out as clear winner. Some of his screen deaths include: Goldeneye, Patriot games, The Island, Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, and of course, Game of Thrones.
#13 Vincent Price – 32 Times The #3 entry on our list of actors that have died the most on screen comes in the form of horror legend Vincent Price. Although Price did venture into other movie genres such as drama, mystery, and even comedy, with his distinctive look and even more distinctive voice, Price will always be remembered for his horror movies, although most people today will remember him most for being the voice over on Michael Jackson‘s “Thriller” or playing the inventor in Edward Scissorhands. As Price had such a long movie career, which actually ran from 1935 – 1993, and of course his love of all things horror, it’s not surprising that Price is high on the list of on screen deaths. A few of his memorable deaths include: Pit and the Pendulum, House of Usher, Witchfinder General, Tales of Terror, Edward Scissorhands, and Theatre of Blood.
#14 Christopher Lee – 42 Times Our number two entry is the man that made Count Dracula a movie icon. Becoming the face of the British Hammer horror scene in the 1960s, Lee, with his tall frame, piercing eyes, and booming voice, made the role of the villain his own and charmed fans as the iconic Dracula for years. Every now and then Lee would step out of his villain persona but then he would soon come charging back in and we all love him for it. As well as portraying Dracula, Lee has also been the villain in two major movie franchises: The Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit franchise and, of course, in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Over a career that spanned nearly 70 years, Lee has a long list of movie credits to his name and a long list of movie deaths too. Some of his movie deaths include his many outings as Dracula, as well as Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Alice in Wonderland, The Man with the Golden Gun, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, and Treasure Island, to name just a few.
#15 John Hurt – 45 Times The number one entry on our list of actors who have died the most on screen goes to the late great actor John Hurt. The British acting legend has been lighting up the screen for more than 50 years and in some of the biggest movies around. Of course, most of us remember him as the guy who had the alien burst out of his stomach in Alien, to which Hurt actually re-enacted the scene for the comedy movie Spaceballs. Although Hurt was never really considered a Hollywood leading man, he was often described as one of the best and subtlest actors working in Hollywood and appeared in more movies than we could list. A few of his death movies are: The Elephant Man, V For Vendetta, Outlander, Hellboy, Only Lovers Left Behind, and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
