was looking through my camera roll & realized i never posted about this?? but i did a check please theme in my bullet journal back in april & i am still beyond obsessed with how it turned out!

task list & cover page

april was all about finishing my fucking thesis (i earned my mfa in stage automation in may) & i used the task list to break down each section of my thesis & make it less intimidating. i still pulled a bitty & had to marathon write most of my thesis within a like 36 hour period. i slept so good once that draft was finished!

when i started planning this theme, i flipped through the comic & decided pretty quickly i wanted the cover to be this view of faber from 4.25 "faber". i filled the outside with some of my favorite details from throughout the comic, including (clockwise from top left) the "text from chowder: i'm shouting!" from 4.2 "nonstop celly", jack's "oh" moment from 2.17 "graduation", the jack lego (?) figure from 3.1 "wag", dex & nursey's background roach & house bubbles & (i think it's) ransom's "et tu lardo?" bubble from 2.12 "post i: roadie", one of my fave senor bun appearances that didn't make it into a weekly from 1.16 "linemates", & bitty's phone (i don't think there's a specific appearance of bitty's phone that looks like this, at least not that i'm finding in the flip-throughs i've done to write this post. i think i did a lil freehand moment with it, but if anyone happens to find it in the comic, let me know!), as well as my usual little calendar & monthly focuses section

camp nanowrimo tracker, before the pen. the left is just a table for tracking time spent on & words written for my thesis & the novel i've been working on forever. my camp nanowrimo goal was to write 1 hour every weekend day & 2 hours every week day, for a grand total of 50 hours, which i am proud to say i achieved! the right is a visual tracker, where each pie was equal to an hour of writing. i included 50 pies for my 50 hour goal. the bubble near the top is from 1.4 "the haus" with 2 footnotes i added; one on "kitchens" that says "word docs", & one on "pies" that says "words". clearly i think i'm very clever lol

& that's all the spreads! spreads were done in an archer & olive b5 notebook. supplies include: mildliners in the colors vermillion, dark blue, beige, & gray; a black papermate flair, a white gellyroll pen in size 08, and stabilo pens in gray and brown. oh, & a piece of masking tape, bc i couldn't find any clear tape lol

He crosses his eyes for the first one and sticks his tongue out in the second. For the third one, he does duck lips, but then he realizes that might look too much like he’s blowing a kiss and he starts to panic.

Dex starts paging through it, and then reading it, and brings it home. As he keeps on reading, he slowly falls in love with the person who wrote all of the words. A person who hasn’t left enough clues in the journal to help identify who they are: A receipt for coffee? A feather? Part of a business card? A photograph or two, taped at the corners… A whole list of introspective questions and answers? It’s been months, but no one has come back to the bookstore to claim the missing journal.

I showed this film to my kids when they were little, the same age that I was when I got abused... God may be bigger than the Boogeyman, Godzilla, and the monsters on TV but he wasn't big enough to protect me from the monster I called "daddy"! Phil Vischer may be woke now and using his big brain to expose the church hypocrisy with his evangelical fame.

But I'm sure if I were to tell him what happened to me, he would tell me that my dad is evil but not the god that we can't see...well I beg to differ Phillip! Cause the monster I called dad, is the one who baptized me and spanked my ass when I was bad.

And the past year has resurfaced some memories for me, of little bittle me being fingered by my daddy. He played the part on Sunday morning of a righteous holy man! If there really was a god and he really loved the children, that monster would've been canned!

And don't give me that shit about him paying once he's dead because that is not real justice. One book I’d like to read before the year is over is The Great Displacement: Climate Change and the Next American Migration by Jake Bittle.

He appeared in this podcast episode with FiveThirtyEight’s Galen Druke.

Climate change has already been the cause of some internal migration inside the US. We should expect that to accelerate as the century progresses. It will be almost the reverse of the late 20th/early 21st century migration to the sunbelt and coastal areas. 

While no part of the US is completely immune to the effects of climate change, the Great Lakes region and Upper Midwest are likely to fare somewhat better than other parts of the country.

Cities in the Great Lakes area are already beginning to think through the effects of a surging population.

Except for the New Madrid fault in southeastern Missouri, the Midwest is not subject to major earthquakes; volcanoes and tsunamis are unknown there.  Once people around the US rethink the overall benefits of living in the region, sustainable growth may become one of the most acute issues in the area.

I am a master procrastinator, but coupled with the fact that my recording time is fairly limited, it took me all the way up to the deadline to finish my podfic for this year's @fandomtrumpshate auction.

I was absolutely delighted to record one of @doggernaut's fics, and I chose this one. As a fan of Parks and Rec and Check Please, it was really a no brainer.

This is also my longest ever podfic to date, and I hope someone will remind me in the future not to wait until I'm completely done recording to edit.

You know how Hops and his Mom saw Bitty's blog and all??

I've decided that Hops' mom knows about Wicky. Maybe she volunteered in Zerenia at some point or did business there or something but bc of that, Hops knows about Wicky.

So before going to Samwell, he devours like, all information about Zerenia and all that he can because his mother said he needs to be respectful!! So he does that.

He refuses to upset a prince, dammit.

Except when he finally meets Wicky, he's screaming "WILL YOU TWO MOTHERFUCKERS SHUT THE FUCK UP?!" at Nursey and Dex because he's fed up with their fighting and it's barely been a goddamn day since they moved into the Haus.

Hops is suddenly very, very confused, and when Dex shouts FUCK YOU TOO WICKS, he is in fact, a little terrified and might be having a small panic attack.

He finds out from Raptor that "Bro, whatever you expected about Bittle, throw it out the window."

"... Um. Not bitty."

"Oh, Nursey and Dex? You get-"

"Prince-"

Raptor slams his hand on the Waffle's mouth immediately.

"There's no prince here." Raptor said.

Hops is confused, but the amused look on Raptor's face was rather threatening, as if it said he should listen, or else.

He may end up with a crush on Raptor.
