Day 16 I found my garlic limit!

I had a restless sleep, I imagine from the late coffee yesterday. I was dreaming I was narrating the Netflix movie Scoop (Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell were in my head!) and I woke with a fright when I heard “head north east on Rua do Oceano Índico”, out of my iPhone. For some reason google maps went off, it was 11.30pm! WTF 😂

Today I booked the train to Albufeira, excited to see this party town! I wasn’t sure if a bus was an option to Old Town. The staff member at the station said "outside" but on looking at the times and route I wasn’t hopeful, so I ordered a Bolt. I noticed a couple of young women looking at the timetable and walking away so I offered them a lift. I said "I’m going to a coffee roaster first and I’m not sure how close it is to Old Town but you’re welcome to join me". They looked a bit tentative at first and then decided to jump in 😂 We headed to Al-Gharb, I did say there was no obligation to have coffee together, but they wanted to and then paid for mine, and their “famous” banana bread while I was in the WC. So kind of them. Delightful young women, Julie and Rike, studying to be teachers, living 3 hours from Hamburg. I’m sure they thought I’d taken speed, I couldn’t stop talking 😹 We discussed travel, teaching, my kids, Julie’s siblings, Rike’s job in a public paying school, creepy men at their Airbnb in Lagos, living in a post Covid world. I set them free and had a second coffee and then headed to some earmarked pottery and cork shops, lunch and gelato.

I purchased a lovely cork necklace, discounted to €10, from a baby/kids store that had a small table of jewellery. I managed to discern that it was indeed handmade locally by a woman who no longer makes jewellery as she has arthritis. I also purchased a locally made ceramic bowl that I'll use to eat my granola while I'm holidaying and beyond. I could have bought so much more, but on this trip I don't want to worry about breaking things over a longer period of time!

I’d pre-booked lunch using The Fork app and was a tad disappointed after sitting down to hear the waitress telling me the three octopus dishes were not available (no catch for that day). I looked at the menu and used google translate, saw there was squid (so I could eat that), I already knew the cod was frozen (as I'd asked at another restaurant) and I could have carapaus (mackerel) and even though I don't eat beef, pork or lamb, if I had to I could have the pica-pau (woodpecker!). I thought this must be a mistake and I assumed quail or similar. On her return the carapaus was not an option either, it was going to take too long to make, que? I told her I had time! "Would an hour be enough?" She walked away, came back and said “it’s not possible”. I asked about the woodpecker and she laughed, no it was some beef dish, sounded like dried or carpaccio* (after sleeping on this, maybe it’s smoked 🤔). I ended up with squid, in loads of oil and garlic and I asked for sweet potato. The waitress said “don’t you like cheese?” Of course I like cheese, so thinking what I ordered was not enough I got cheese and the usual slightly dry bread (no wonder there's oil, it's to make the dry bread edible! Sadly when it came out it looked like a heart attack waiting to happen, melted with more oil and garlic. The rosé was good, the sweet potato never came, but a salad was on my bill. I should have asked for the salad 😂 I did say there was way too much oil and garlic and the waitress said "this is the way in Portugal"...OK!

I didn’t need it, but after some more wandering in the heat, I had it anyway...gelato, from Georgina Gelato - pistachio, salted caramel and snickers!

Heading back in the Bolt the temperature gauge showed 31°. The lovely Bolt driver said summer temperatures are usually around 32°, and it’s only Spring 🥵 We had a fantastic conversation about ice cream after I asked him how long he’d been living in the Algarve (I've noticed all of the Bolt/Uber drivers aren't locals). He’d been in Albufeira for nearly four years, coming to help his mum make and sell ice cream. She’d studied the art in Italy. They only sell to a shop called Sailor. I did see that shop, but it didn’t feature as highly as Georgina on the google ratings. I should have got that guys number. I wonder can I track him down on the Bolt app, or maybe that will get me banned and that wouldn't be good, as I now have 15% discount on my next five trips.

I got on the right train to come "home", I triple checked!

Tomorrow I collect my tiles 🤩

*It got the better of me so I googled it, sounds delicious for those who eat beef. Pica pau is a traditional Portuguese dish consisting of small pieces of fried beef in a light gravy made with beer, garlic, oil, chili, and mustard. The dish is usually consumed as a snack, accompanied by a few glasses of cold beer and bread for mopping up the sauce. When served, pica pau is traditionally topped with olives and pickled carrots and cauliflowers. The name of the dish means woodpecker, because you pick at the beef with a wooden toothpick. Pica pau is a staple of the Portuguese tascas – tiny little restaurants.

WIP of something I've had pictured in my head for a long time of my very first OC Rocky Dean Maxwell in his wolf form. Its for a very old trilogy I started in high school at 14-15 that included my teenagehood friends. I've been trying to rewrite the first one for a few years now, but still have quite a ways to go (1 bc it was in first person, 2 bc Rocky changed drastically over the years (I've had him since I was 7)) I was writing it when I was a Teen Titans (2003) freak and that was when Naruto started becoming popular, so its a mix of those 2 fandoms, with Slade being the main baddie. I figured I'd make some art of it, so I started with this one

The smoke is meant to represent Rocky's biological father's spirit, who abandoned him when he was a baby, and that was killed by Slade when Rocky was 10-11 during his training to be a ninja with his best friend Cora. There'll be more images to go with this, like Slade's reaction to recognizing the spirit, but this is just piece 1 for now

Ignore the bad water rendition, I'll have to use a tutorial to make it look right (its dark water bc its cloudy outside)

Queen B 2, Ch. 12 AKA Or Worse, Expelled

What happened this week:

You’re two seconds from being expelled from the School of Dreams because of that leaked McDonalds video of you and Kingsley caught together, so your immediate reaction is to zip on over to Kingsley’s apartment, where you could very much be, that’s right, caught together! Anything Kingsley related in this book makes me want to grind my face off with a cheese grater. And if this dire, life-ruining situation can’t get any worse, seize the opportunity to jump their bones in a dirty thirty, no less, prompted by PB’s crusty ass themselves. Please, PB. You all desperately need to get laid.

Anyway, I digress. The culprit of your McDonalds sex tape (To be clear. Because I know some of y’all will read this and ask. This is a joke. A, you did not film a sex tape, and B, McDonalds?? Have some dignity.) is none other than #girlboss Lexi Montgomery, who was once a rather formidable antagonist, but, like with everyone else on this goddamn app, has been reduced down to a Dollar Store Back Storeroom version of herself.

Get revenge on the doctor (yes, doctor) by crashing her anthro museum tour for Bertrand and Maxwell Beaumont of Cordonia (The very same. God, we’re never escaping this, are we?) in defense of you, Kingsley, and, well, Betrand Beaumont, I guess. Lexi’s tragic backstory is that she did it for love, that horny, obsessive bitch. Cool motive, still murder. Yeah, never liked her, so revenge is appropriate, I suppose.

Throughout the day, you’ve been ignoring emails from Dean Marge regarding your expulsion hearing, and given that this is your nth warning, it looks like we’re finally out for good. Ah, the fresh, manure-scented country air, to our roots do we return. Lol, sike, no way we’re going back. We have to stop X’s… *ahem* nerd uprising. I need a drink.

Thoughts:

This book was tacky (endearing) before but now it’s just tacky (derogatory). Drab. Uninspired. Lame. Much like Jersey. I know it’s supposed to be fun and sometimes it is but this whole Queen thing is losing its kick. A shoddy villain, at best. The whole Good Girl/Bad Girl thing doesn’t even play into the story except for in that damned Baconalia.

I know I’m being overly critical of a fucking Choices book, a 2021 one at that, but I think this book lost a lot of what made Book 1 good. The underdog story, earning everyone’s respect, the promise of being a better queen than She-Rag, Princess of Glower. Now we’re basically doing the same thing, gloating over people we should be sympathizing with, given that we were once the underdog ourselves. And the way it’s written is like we’re supposed to be the victim because everyone’s coming for our ass.

Don’t get me wrong, I love being a bitch-whore and serving revenge, it just feels a lot more superficial than it has to be, the way all of these D-listers have tragic backstories written for them in flashbacks like villain monologues specifically just to inconvenience you. Aren’t we supposed to be climbing the social ladder? Gaslighting, gatekeeping, and girlbossing against rich phonies who deserve it? Why does it feel like we’re staring down the ladder, then?

trust him with your money, your drink, your social security number, everything:

din. this man is barely scraping by on his own when you first meet him. when he adds the kid to the mix, he gets even more frugal than he already is with an old as sin ship that many people are surprised to see fly. he will have a policy of “you earn it, you choose what to do with it” and since he goes after most of (if not all) the bounties to keep you all alive, he has the final say in how most of the credits are spent. he does want you to have nice things though, so he makes sure to configure the budget to where you don’t have to pour your credits into the group’s survival money very often. it’s the least he can do. he’s very big on taking care of his people and will show that in small ways.

marcus m. he’s a single dad for a significant amount of time, he has no choice but to be responsible with his money. he has to take care of missy, keep them both fed and housed and healthy, and that’s not even touching on how expensive all of high school graduation and college will be once she gets there. he teaches missy very early in life how important money is bc he doesn’t want her to ever know how it feels to not have enough. he makes a considerable amount of money w the heroics tho so he can afford to responsibly splurge on you both, but not constantly. is very cautious abt the splurging becoming a habit

dave. yeah he may be a murderer, but he’s scary great at managing his money (to continue being able to murder). he’s got his ex wife’s alimony (that still pisses him off but that’s another story) and two girls he takes care of, there’s no other choice for him either. there’s never a worry about dave having a midlife crisis and spending money on some stupid dad thing (like a motorcycle or assless chaps or a country club membership) because he murders to keep his mind off that sort of stuff. files his taxes diligently every year the day tax season starts and will pass this wisdom to the girls.

pero. he’s very good at judging if you need something or not. if it can’t feed you, keep you healthy, kill someone, or protect you, you don’t need to buy it. definitely not a man who indulges in trinkets and frivolous things that do nothing but weigh down his horse and his person. will encourage this way of thinking with whoever travels with him to whatever extent he can, but won’t be a dick about it if you have something sentimental on your person. if it’s a necessity, he will splurge on a bed and bath at an inn but not much else for a while. cheap because he has to be

marcus p. i don’t think i have to explain this one so i won’t. no i’m not being lazy who said that?

maybe you’ll be fine if he’s in charge. maybe:

oberyn. being a prince (and himself), there are different ways this could go. he spends his money frivolously at brothels & on his daughters + other loved ones (as well as other luxuries) and doesn’t really seem to be the type to keep tabs on it all as he goes. but... he’s a prince in a prosperous kingdom and so there isn’t really a worry for money. he’s known as the red viper for many reasons, including his clever nature and the ease with which he can get what he wants thru whatever means necessary. if you want for something that he can’t buy, you know he will find a way to get it for you (which can be a problem sometimes).

max. he’s good with money in the sense of perpetuating capitalism — that’s the red flag here. hell, he’s gonna be investing into bitcoin and who knows what stock market bs & bc it’s max, of course you trust him. max can’t control the stock market tho, so sometimes things are a little iffy. it always evens itself out though, and you make sure in the future that he invests his money instead of your joint money. he’s still gonna share anyways, it just helps you have a little more peace of mind.

frankie. he just wants to take care of you, okay? you can’t fault him for that 🥺 he maneuvers his budget around to make sure he can do all these nice things for you while leaving his own needs unchecked, which isn’t okay. he just wants to provide for the ppl he loves the best he can, but the problem begins when he starts to think he isn’t doing enough. his insecurity & lack of self-worth (fueled by his guilt for “not being everything you deserve”) is what makes him agree to the Trip™️ in the first place. once he comes back & sees you frantic, only wanting him home and not giving a flying fuck about the money, does he realize that you’re devoted to him and not what he can do for you.

whiskey. working for statesman made him forget what things really cost bc he suddenly never had to worry again about not having enough money. being with someone that isn’t practically made of money will snap him back into reality. he looks at his bank statements and his balance occasionally, but our big spender cowboy hasn’t really counted money as something he worries about for a while. when he constantly showers you in expensive gifts (only the best for his baby, that’s his motto) and you tell him that he has to not do that bc he’ll go broke, he plays it off because he doesn’t remember having to worry. separate bank accounts are only because you want to make sure your money is being spent smartly (even though jack has offered constantly to pay for literally anything you need).

don’t give him anything you want to see again:

maxwell. as much as i love this dork, he’s absolute shit with money. when his business is falling apart (bc he made the stupid ass decision to buy the oil rigs no one wanted bc they weren’t producing oil), he throws it all into saving face and trying to make investors buy into something that isn’t there. what a smart business man would’ve done was liquidate his assets and possibly try to get into a business that will yield at least some profit. he does learn his lesson tho and eventually can be trusted with money, but even he is hesitant to do anything with the household finances. he’s a dreamer, and dreams and money are the same as oil and water.

javier. i know you’re possibly surprised but hear me out. he’ll go all in to get info, whether he’s spending american taxpayer money or his own money or anyone else’s, if it’s valuable info that can be bought, it’s gonna be bought even if he goes without groceries for the next two weeks. before being with you, it was booze and prostitutes and cigarettes that ate away at his checks outside of buying information. the only thing that really changed once you got together was the prostitutes and slightly less cigarettes and booze. however, when he goes back to laredo permanently, he’s perfectly capable of keeping his shit in line. he’ll balance every checkbook in sight and run a tight af ship.

ezra. this man is a scavenger by necessity, a con man by choice. he has a silver tongue and a roguish charm and pretty questionable morals; he’s not gonna have any issue with getting his hands dirty. he’s probably gonna use your joint money to try and pull a fast one on some unsuspecting stranger (“it’ll double our money,” he says, “it’ll be fine,” he says), but then said stranger will end up turning the tables and leave you both absolutely broke. yeah he will feel guilty, no doubt. the only problem is that he won’t take it as a “hey don’t do it again” lesson, it’ll be a “this is how i can improve for next time.” eventually you have to put your foot down and take control of the money and when he realizes that you’re improving your lives much better than he is, he will thank you for it.

Three in One Post

For my P-Pal’s memory of the Convention

That looks cool that his friend from his country who is also a good friend to me as well, manage to go to the Gundam Expo Convention. And Speaking of Expo Convention, I’m going to one as well. In 2 Weeks, I’m going to a Game on Expo Convention since I already went last time. What I was destined to do is I’ll be dressing up as a character and since I have enough money, I was gonna do a selfie with anybody that is coming to the convention. Which I bet it will be fun if Shadow and Lisa would like to go to the convention together. Especially when they bring Spot, Riya, Vanilla and Maxwell with.

And for my P-Pal’s Memory of Windows XP

Well I’m not a huge fan of XP when I remember their startup and shutdown sound drives me crazy, even during the middle of the night. But I kinda had nostalgia when I enjoyed playing some classic games like Pinball and Solitaire. But I still do play Solitaire since it does help with my anxiety and just put me at ease. Besides other puzzle games I played. And even with their Microsoft Paint which is different compared to Modern Microsoft Paint, which I don’t use often since I do enjoy using new Drawing apps, and I can still use Microsoft Paint if I were to do a Collaboration or to edit some of my photos. But I do like the wallpaper since Kirby Superstar is a really good game. I have played Ultra before like when my sister and I rented that game from Blockbuster. Man I miss that store so much! But I also played the original Kirby Superstar on Super Nintendo on one of the modern systems like Wii U and Switch.

And for my A-Pal’s on this day pic.

Yeah I remember that pic before. Especially since I am good friends with Krystal, but I haven’t seen her that much. But I never like being bullied at school either. Especially I never like getting abused or falsely accused by my teachers. Because School is like Hell to me. And that’s why I don’t need education, because I got Pac-man Fever. Which I play video games a lot. And every time one of the teachers yell “Excuse me”, then I would’ve talked back by being Link going “Well Excuse me, Teacher!” But I hope we won’t fall into that kind of trauma ever again. Especially if we try our best to move on and get over it.

hi tumblr seriously long time no see! feels grossly weird to be posting here but feel like i should at least put a little entry on this decade old diary about what my life has been since i last posted here. soooo uh let me see... i graduated college with a bfa in interdisciplinary sculpture! kind of hated art school but i DID join the burlesque club and loved that so it was worth it in the end for stripping lol. i now work retail at a makeup store and i love it! it's surprisingly the most amazing job ever, i'm in a leadership role there and i feel so happy and fulfilled. my coworkers actually were the ones to peer pressure me into redownloading this app 🥴 but really haven't felt this good in a while. in 2020 my health crashed, turns out i have lupus which i always suspected! i was bedridden for about 1.5 years but i'm on medication so i can generally be a normal human being atm. also i got a tattoo of willow!!!!! because uh she died :') i got my blog restored from being locked for banned content because i wanted to find pictures of her and maxwell because they both passed within 2 months of each other. i miss them violently but i carry willow with me everywhere and my new kitten thea keeps me on my toes <3 and also i'm still obsessed with machimiya eikichi dhsgsbdjd ok i think that's all the important stuff to tell you about 2022 link! idk if i'll use this blog after this post but it's nice to use this as my digital diary since i don't have a real one. luv yall!

"You're already getting a real crown! This one is mine!" Bad GirlTM whines the night of the dance, then she keeps you from the dance by stabbing MCs hand with the heel of her shoe because Bastien wasn't paying attention and because she’ll do anything to win

but don’t worry, you can flirt with her through the whole book and if you buy a premium scene at the end to confront her in the locker room shower, your eyes can roam up and down her soft body and curves and you can feel your cheeks flush as you learn she has a really sad home life as an only child despite being white and rich so everything is totally forgiven with a hug even though you’re both technically naked??

1. Is there a meaning behind your url name?

I wish I had some creative story behind my url name but alas it is just part of my actual name. I tend to panic when it comes to creating url names.

2. When did you start playing Choices? What's the first book you played?

I was an avid player of High School Story and Hollwood U so when Pixelberry announced their new app I decided to check it out. I guess you could say I've been there since the start. The Crown and The Flame, followed by The Freshman.

3. When did you decide to join Choices fandom?

Now this does have a funny/cute story attached to it! You can blame @queen-of-effing-everything for that! I ran across her stories on fanfiction.net and when she announced she would be posting on tumblr I sort of followed her over.

4. Go back to your archive and tell us what was your first post on your Choices blog was about.

I feel weird saying this but it was my first Choices fic, which was a cringy little drabble about Liam staring at burnt apple trees.

5. How long have you been writing fanfiction?

If we're talking about Choices it has been around 3 years, give or take. If we are talking about fanfiction in general I started writing for Grey's Anatomy back in Season 1.

6. Share the first fanfic you wrote with us. Do you still like it or would you change anything about it?

I am going to go with my first Choices fanfic, which is the burnt apple tree one I mentioned above. I don't know that I feel one way or the other about it but I do know that I wouldn't change anything about it. When I look at it I can see where I started from and compare it to where I am now. There has been definite growth in my confidence with the characters so for me that's more important than trying to perfect it.

7. What are your favorite Choices books to write about?

I have to be honest, questions like this give me major anxiety! I'm very indecisive when it comes to choosing favorites but if I absolutely have to I would go with The Royal Romance. There is just so much you can do with the characters!

8. Imagine this scenario: you’ve posted a fic anonymously for a contest/writing challenge. How would someone be able to guess that you’d written it?

This is a tough one. A lot of my readers comment on my ability to portray a vast array of emotion with a small amount of words so I guess find a short emotional piece that is probably mine.

9. Which part of writing do you struggle with most?

All of it. 9 times out of 10 I've spent hours staring at a blank document with a little voice in my head saying 'why bother, you know it's not going to be as good as what others write.' Crazy, I know. I'm working on not comparing myself to others but it's definitely something I struggle with and it has played a huge factor in my writing.

10. Have you ever purposefully written one fandom/fic idea over another because you knew it’d be more popular?

To the best of my knowledge, no. If anything I try to write stories that are outside the box. There's just something about taking an idea and going in a completely out there direction that appeals to me.

11. Are there any writers (published authors and/or fanfic writers) who influenced your writing?

Absolutely. Author PC Cast was my creative writing teacher; of course back then she was just a creative writing teacher with dreams of being a published author. If you like vampire stories I strongly recommend checking out her House of Night Series. As far as fandom members who have influenced my writing I would have to say the biggest influence has been blackcatkitta. From the start, we have been honest with one another when it comes to our writing. If something isn't working we're both comfortable enough with each other to say 'that doesn't work,'

12. If someone you know in real life who isn’t involved in fandoms asked to read your work, would you let them? If yes, what would you recommend they read first?

My husband has read most of my stories or been involved in some capacity. Does that count? If not, I'm not sure I would let others besides him. I'm very self concious when it comes to my writing.

13. Has writing fanfic had a significant impact on your life? Would you say it’s entirely positive?

It has had a significant impact on my life. Without going into details it has opened doors that led me to people who have experienced similar traumas. I used to feel very alone, like there was something wrong with me, and now I have a support network that is there to remind I didn't deserve what happened to me, that there was something wrong with the person who hurt me...in return I've been able to do the same for others.

14. You’re applying for the fanfic writer of the year award. What five fanfics do you put in your portfolio?

I want to but I am forever talking myself out of it.
