Can I ask for a one shot of Elder Maxson cuddling Sole? :3
I just finished a Brotherhood of Steel playthrough basically being the Brotherhood’s most “perfect-est” errand girl. The amount of praise I earned from everyone was incredible and has inspired me to bring this one shot (more of a little blurb) to life!
“Calm Before the Storm”
Things were aligning perfectly with the Brotherhood’s plans to eradicate the Commonwealth of the Institute and all other threats to their mission. Ever since Sole joined the cause five months ago in the midst of their search for Shaun, they have devoted such a deep understanding to the Brotherhood’s values and became a highly valued solider to their peers. Among those peers that value them is the esteemed Elder Maxson. Upon hearing of Sole’s many good deeds for the Brotherhood before they even arrived on the Prydwen, Maxson already grew a great fondness for them, however he grew a great attraction upon seeing Sole face-to-face for the very first time.
He remembers the day and looks back on it warmly, as he now holds Sole in his strong arms. Maxson gives them a tight squeeze and tugs them closer to his chest. “Tomorrow is a busy day,” they say soundly, “I probably won’t be back until late.”
“I know. If I could accompany you, I–“
“Arthur, sweetie, I know.” They chuckle softly and take his cheek in the palm of their hand. Sole gently traces their thumb over his scar and keeps their eyes connected with his.
Maxson feels a deep connection under their gaze, it being partly the reason he fell for them. He anticipates the day the Commonwealth is rid of the Institute’s grasp, as it approaches soon with Sole doing the final steps within the next day. He wants nothing more than a breath of peace to better acquaint with his newly love. They quirk up a smile and give him a playful wink. Maxson could never imagine feeling so bare with someone, especially in the middle of a war.
“Are you going to brood all night, should I grab some coffee?” Sole teases. “Come on, don’t tell me you’re worried about me.”
“I never worry for you. You’ve proved time and time again you are more than capable. I fear there is something deeper lingering on my mind.” Maxson expresses to them. His serious tone colors them intrigued and they prop themselves up on one elbow, nuzzling in closer to him.
“I’m listening.” They tell him.
“With the end of this battle approaching, our journey in the Commonwealth will soon come to an end. We will eventually rid the Commonwealth of all its filth. And in due time, move on…” Maxson trails off, for the first time in his life at a loss for words.
“Are you trying to ask if I’m coming with you, wherever that may be?” Sole asks him softly. He simply nods in response. “In case you haven’t been paying attention, I don’t have much of a life here waiting on me. I love to help the people of the Commonwealth more than anything, but this hasn’t been my home for a long time. I didn’t think I could find a new home until I met you.”
Maxson’s eyes light up in an instant at their words. They play into their first admissions of love for each other. Though they both know they care so deeply for each other, neither have admitted such strong feelings before.
“I love you, Sole.” Maxson sputtered out.
“I love you, too.” Sole feels certain of their words, exclaiming them with a smile.
Maxson reaches behind himself and turns off his bedside lamp. He wraps that arm tightly around Sole again and rests his head atop of theirs. Despite the upcoming battles they were to face together, two headstrong people like Maxson and Sole allowed their love to blossom.

Ah good, hope this level of angst is ok then:
Can I please request the FO4 companions(and maybe the remaining faction leaders in this scenario pls)reacting to sole becoming self destructive in how much they try and help the wasteland, all because they feel guilty for Shaun dying?
Thank you, have a nice day ^-^
(Warnings: Injuries, lack of sleep and eating, mention of death.)
Cait: “Alright that’s enough. You need to stop, get some rest or I’ll have to knock you out myself.”
Cait was concerned, they’d been in the middle of a raider fight. This was the third one in a single day. Cait was tired herself, and she had only just joined Sole. Sole had been doing this for a few weeks. They kept saying one more, they had to help one more person. But that was about 5 people ago. And now they were getting sloppy. A raider came up close and Sole went to hit them but completely missed. The raider took his hit and caught Sole right in the gut. Sole buckled and Cait had to jump in. Cait drags Sole away from the fight and to a safe house, throwing them onto the bed. She held up three fingers and grumbled when Sole said there were six. Cait does not have the best bedside manners; she gets easily annoyed with Sole. But she grits her teeth and forcefully took care of Sole until they were in some sort of working order.
Curie: She made her opinion quite clear early on, Sole didn’t appreciate her telling them to stop so Sole left Curie behind at a settlement. A week later Sole finally comes back and Curie throws herself into Sole’s arms.
“Please, I’m begging you Monsieur/Madam. I need you to stop. I’m worried about you.” Curie cries uncontrollably, gripping tightly onto Sole. It’s at this point Sole realizes how bad it had gotten. Curie was usually concerned with Sole’s health anyway. But Sole had never seen her cry so hard before. Sole had been thinking only of Shaun, and how even though Sole did all they could to find him they were not quick enough. Sole wanted to get to everyone else and help them before it was too late. Shaun died, and they had to realize no matter how much they do to help others nothing would bring him back. Sole began to cry too, hugging Curie tighter. It was nice to have someone that cared.
Codsworth: “Sir/mum, will you please take a nap. Then we can stop at a settlement and I’ll make you a nice nutritious meal.”
Sole didn’t want to stop. There were people to help, people who needed Sole. They kept moving, muttering how he would want them to keep going. Codsworth was confused, but it didn’t take long to realize who Sole was talking about. Codsworth floated in front of Sole.
“Sir/mum, as much as I hate to say these words. But Shaun is gone. I know he wanted you to help people. But he would also want you to help yourself too. We need you, but only when you’re strong enough. And I know master Shaun would say the same thing.”
Codsworth’s words made Sole break. They knelt to the floor and cried. Codsworth guided them to a nearby settlement and let them sleep. When Sole woke up Codsworth made a large meal, and Sole ate the entire thing. Sole didn’t realize they had gotten so hungry.
Dogmeat: Dogmeat doesn’t notice anything different for a long time. One day Sole gets into a battle where they get shot. Sole had not been sleeping or eating so they were incredibly weak. The gunshot wound took out the last of their adrenaline and Sole could not get off the ground. Dogmeat whined and pawed at them, trying to get them to move. But Sole couldn’t.
“Go get help.” Sole says, finally admitting to themselves they were in a rough spot. Dogmeat ran as fast as he could. He would get them help.
Danse: “That’s it, soldier, you’re done. Time to go home.”
They had gotten into another fight trying to save a settlement and Sole had collapsed in the middle of the battlefield. Danse got under their arm and dragged them away.
“I have to help.”
“No, you need to rest. You’re about to drop dead. I can get my men to come in and help these people.” Danse dragged Sole to a safe house and dropped them onto the bed.
“They need me. If I’m not there, people die without me.” Sole began to cry.
“People do need you. But not all the time. There are plenty of people in this world who can help. You don’t have to be the one to do everything. We put our trust in you every day, for once put trust in us that we can save people too.”
Sole thought about his words. There was a slight relief hearing them. Sole nodded and lay in the bed. Danse got backup from the brotherhood, then focused on tending to Sole. He made sure they slept and ate, before he let them back into the wasteland.
Deacon: “Man I am pooped. How about we head back home, take some zee’s and refill our tanks. What’dya say?” Deacon stretched. They had just finished guiding someone to a new settlement.
“Nah, let’s do another one. I’m sure there’s someone around here that needs help.” Sole suggested.
“I really don’t think I can. I think you could do another, but I don’t think you should.” Deacon crossed his arms. “We’ve been going at it for days; we need a rest.”
“I can’t rest. By the time I get to them it will be too late! No more breaks I can’t risk getting sidetracked again.”
“What are you talking about?” Deacon asked. Sole was silent, staring off into the distance. “Look, you’re not the only one out here. You’ve got me, the railroad and a bunch of other people. It’s ok to take a break, take it from me when I say no one will judge you for it.”
Sole stood still thinking on it. Deacon stepped forward and grabbed their arm. Sole allowed themselves to be dragged away to a place they could rest and eat. Deacon also resting, though he kept a close eye on Sole to ensure they didn’t try to leave without him.
Hancock: “Alright buddy, I’ve got to tap you out. You’re not going to do anyone any good if you’re dead.” He had tricked Sole into going back to Goodneighbor with him, by saying someone needed help. “You’re the one that needs help, and that’s what I’m here for.”
He took Sole’s weapons. Then gave them a bedroom, and told them to sleep. Sole was reluctant, but soon enough they just passed out on the bed. When they woke up Hancock had arranged his townsfolk to cook some delicious meals for Sole. Which they ate, not realizing how hungry they were until they started eating. Afterwards Sole asked for their weapons back.
“Nope back to bed. Your mayor orders you.” Hancock ordered. Sole grumbled off. But after a few days Sole began to realize how much better they were feeling, and how horrible they had felt before Hancock made them stop. Sole was ashamed and bashfully said thank you to Hancock, who was just so happy his partner was back to normal again.
MacCready: He’s a loyal man, and being young and an experienced wasteland wanderer he was able to keep up with Sole. They would do job after job, day and night. Helping everybody they could find. But after 3 weeks he had enough. MacCready had been eating whenever they stopped in a town, but Sole would be ‘too busy’ to eat. They would sleep when MacCready would demand them to. Yet he could tell Sole wasn’t sleeping. Their face in the morning was evidence enough. They stop at a settlement and Sole collapses into a bed from exhaustion. MacCready stole all their weapons, hiding them. When Sole awoke, they ordered MacCready to give them back.
“Sorry but no can do. You’ve done enough. Now we are going to stay in this settlement for at least a few days. You’re going to sleep the whole time, and if you’re not sleeping, you’re eating. Proper food not garbage ‘nutrient bars’.” Sole wanted to fight, but MacCready just pushed them back onto the bed. Sole reluctantly got back into bed and ended up sleeping for 15 hours straight the first day. It took a while but finally Sole was feeling better, they didn’t think they had gotten so bad. But they were incredibly grateful MacCready was looking out for them.
Piper: The pair was sitting in an abandoned building, about to head out to another job. Sole was trying to reload their gun, but their hands were so shaky they couldn’t get the bullets in. Piper took the gun away and held Sole’s hand.
“I think it’s time to call it quits blue, just for a day or two.”
“I can’t. They need help.”
“And we’ll help them later.”
“No, it will be too late. I have to save them now; I can’t lose him. Them.” Sole corrected themselves, then paused. Tears stinging their eyes.
“Oh blue. I’m sorry. I don’t know how you feel, or know what you’re going through. But you’re just hurting yourself at this point. You can’t save everyone, no matter how hard you try. Life happens, and even if you do your best people can still die. It’s the worst, but it’s reality. What you need to do, is not push yourself to the point where you are useless to us. Now please, let’s take a break. We can ask someone else to go help those people out.” Sole hesitates, but Piper just squeezes their hand. Sole wants to squeeze back but they don’t have the strength to. It’s then that Sole realizes Piper is right. They are weak, and would be useless in a fight right now. Sole nods and Piper took them back to Diamond city so they can rest.
Preston: Sole ended up helping every single settlement Preston had. He had to start turning Sole away.
“Sorry boss, no one needs help right now. But I think you should take this as a chance to get some rest.” Sole ignored the suggestion and headed out looking for other jobs. They came back 2 weeks later, limping and with a big black eye.
“Any settlements need help yet?”
“Definitely not from you!” Preston was concerned.
“What?” Sole asked offended.
“You need to rest now.” Preston slings his gun on his back and tries to help Sole into their house.
“This is nothing, at least I’m alive. I need to help the settlements.”
“No boss. If you keep this up you won’t be helping anyone.” Preston gets Sole into the house and to a bed. “Everyone loves you; we are so grateful to have you. But if you want to be around to help us, you need to rest.” Sole grumbled but got into bed and did as they were told.
He asked another town member to take over patrolling. Then got some healthier food and sat by Sole. For the next few days Preston looked after Sole until they were back to normal condition.
Valentine: Nick had been around a long time; he’d seen many men and women fall to the abyss of trying to help everyone. He himself had once gone down that path and it was his assistant Ellie that actually made him slow down. Sole and Nick had just finished 3 jobs in a row.
“Alright boss, it’s time for a break.”
“Just one more.”
“Nope, we’ve done enough for now. Time to rest up and come back later.”
“There might not be a later. We have to help now.”
Valentine made Sole stop moving and stepped up close.
“Listen, I’ve been down this road. But there are too many people and you can’t help everyone. No matter how hard you try. Besides, who are you going to help in this state?” Sole was bruised, their clothes were torn and they hadn’t slept in days. “You need a rest. And I’m getting older, I need to rest too. So let us go back home, we’ll come back another day.”
“But he told me to help them.”
“I know he did. But he wouldn’t want you killing yourself in the process. Now come on.” Nick wrapped his arm around Sole and guided them home.
Strong: They travelled around for about a week, taking job after job helping everyone in their path. Even sometimes accepting two at the same time. They had just completed one job and Sole headed straight to the other. Night fell and Sole was exhausted. They were hit by a surprise raider attack. Sole struggled to hold their weapon, shaking as they aimed. They took too long to steady themselves and got shot in the arm. Sole tried to shoot with one hand but couldn’t make it work. After clearing the raiders himself, Strong headed back to Sole.
“Human weak. Human need rest.”
“No Strong, we need to get to the settlement that needs help.”
“Settlement help Sole.”
“I’m fine.” Sole tried to stand but their knees gave way. Strong picked Sole up and carried them the rest of the way.
“Human weak.” Once at the settlement Sole was bandaged up and told to rest. They tried to leave but Strong blocked their exit. There was no way Sole was going to win against Strong so reluctantly they stayed in bed and rested.
X6-88: He left the institute with Sole the day Shaun died. Sole didn’t say anything except they were going to take a job. X6 was quite willing to go as long as possible. He didn’t have the same restrictions as Sole. He was expecting to maybe go on a job a day or maybe 3 days. But was surprised when Sole had been going for a whole 2 weeks. They get to another settlement and X6 is expecting Sole to rest.
“Come on time to go, we’ve got another job.” Sole says wanting to leave after being there for only 10 minutes.
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, lets go.” Sole answered, but X6 hesitated. He stood still and took a look at Sole. They had become skinny; their arms shook carrying the weight of their gun.
“I think you should rest.”
“No, I’m good. Come on, or maybe I’ll just go alone.” Sole replied. X6 stepped forward and placed a hand on Sole’s bony shoulder. “We’ve been through a lot together, and I’ll admit I have grown fond of you. I can’t feel what you felt when father died. But I know he wouldn’t want you to live like this. You need to rest and regain your strength.”
“But.”
“We are not leaving until you rest.” X6 said in an authoritative voice Sole had not heard before. Sole had also not heard X6 so concerned for their health. They were touched, simply nodding and heading to a spare bed.
Arthur Maxson: He watched Sole enter the brotherhood headquarters limping, skinny and pale. Though they smiled and asked for the next job.
“I’m taking you off the field soldier. You need to go see a doctor and rest for at least a week.”
“I can’t do that boss I have to help.”
“That’s an order, don’t make me handcuff you to a bed.” Maxson used his big voice. He could understand what Sole was doing, people needed help. But to put themselves through so much torture and not take care of their health? Well Maxson thought Sole was a little crazy, but he did appreciate them. “You’re a good worker and I can’t risk losing you from my team. So, take care of yourself and I’ll give you a job as soon as the doctor clears you.”
Sole grumbled but did as they were told.
Desdemona: She watched Sole stagger into the railroad hitting every surface as they walked. Sole had bags under their eyes and their skin was pale.
“What’s next?” Sole asked.
“What’s next is you go get some rest.”
“Nah I’m fine.”
“That wasn’t a suggestion.” Desdemona took Sole’s arm and guided them to a bed. “You’re going to stay here and we are going to watch you like hawks until you get better. I have plenty of manpower here, you are not the only one capable of taking a job.”
Sole wanted to resist, but the moment their head hit the pillow they passed out. Desdemona sighed, throwing a blanket over them. She then went to find someone to watch over Sole as they slept.
Gage: “Alright boss, enough now.” Sole had just told Gage they were going on another job. This was the 6th in 2 days. “You need to stop moving for one day. And I need to sleep.”
“We can just do one more then we’ll stop.”
“Ha, yeah you told me that before but we didn’t stop. I know you wanna help people, and that’s ok. But there’s no point if you’re just going to die on them. When was the last time you ate?”
“This morning?” Sole said in an untruthful tone.
“Ate something proper, not just snack. Or when was the last time you slept?” Sole couldn’t reply to that one. “Right. Now let’s go home, because I am not going to carry you if you collapse on me.” Gage said the threat but Sole know he would never leave them.
Sole followed Gage. He had a point. If Sole couldn’t remember the last time they slept, then there was a problem. Once in a safe location the both rested. Gage woke first and kept an eye on Sole, who slept for a lot longer.

“Hellfire” from The Hunchback of Notre-Dame gives me Elder Maxson x Sole Survivor vibes- hear me out, lyrics such as
“ you know I am a righteous man, of my virtue I am justly proud” (here would be him explaining how much of a dick he is)
“Tell me, Maria, why I see her dancing there. Why her smouldering eyes still scorch my soul?” (Here would be after the brotherhood first arrive in their big ole airship and meeting the Sole Survivor for the first time. Maxson can’t understand these feelings he has, perhaps he is kept awake for the first night, maybe concerned he’s coming down with an illness but in actual fact he has the big ole feelings)
“This burning desire, is turning me to sin.” (Self explanatory, he realises his big ole feelings)
“It’s not my fault, if in god’s plan- he made the devil so much stronger than a man.” (Perhaps Blind Betrayal? I can liken this to a BoS Sole Survivor begging him to not order them to destroy Paladin Danse, Maxson standing his ground in his beliefs but quietly regretting the pain he’s causing. I can see this carrying on if the Sole Survivor passes the Charisma check to save Danse’s life- with Maxson purposely treating Danse as if he’s dead on the Sole Survivors return to the airship. I’m running with the idea that Maxson has not revealed his feelings, but they instead just influence his favouritism of Sole Survivor in giving them Danse’s position and things. He’s an angry tired 20 y/old I doubt he has much indication for romance beyond abusing his position. I’ve also taken liberties in suggesting that Sole Survivor is running double agency for the Rail Road, just to make things interesting)
“Destroy Esmeralda, And let her taste the fires of hell. Or else let her be mine and mine alone.” ( Maxson getting more aggressive in trying to sort out his feelings, perhaps reflection on Maxson threatening Danse that if he was ever seen by the Brotherhood again, he would be considered ‘shoot to kill’ )
“Minister Frollo, the gypsy has escaped.”
(What?) She's nowhere in the cathedral. She's gone.
But how, and—? Never mind. Get out, you idiot. I’ll find her. I'll find her if I have to burn down all of Paris!” (Okay this makes me WEAK to consider- but let me rewrite it for you guys to think about. The context would be on Maxson finding out about the Sole Survivor’s betrayal in favour of the railroad, and Sole Survivor abandoning their post completely, their quarters on the Prydwen empty.)
{{Lancer-Captain Kells: Elder Maxson, the Paladin has escaped. (What?!) They’re nowhere on the Prydwen. They’re… gone.
Elder Maxson: But how?! Never mind. Get out you idiot! I’ll find them. I’ll find them even if I have to burn down all of Boston! }}
——————————————-
GOOOOD the concept makes me weak!!!! So many emotions, so much spice!!! aAAAAAA thankyou for coming to my ted talk about my feelings; I’m feeling some sort of way about elder Maxson recently so I might just post fanfic for the dumb boi.

Honestly? Loving the soulmate AUs at the moment. If you don't mind, let's keep it up :)
How about a Soulmate AU for "I thought I knew you. I thought I could trust you." ?
- 💠
Absolutely anon! I'm loving them too. "I thought I knew you. I thought I could trust you!." For...
Elder Maxson!
---
The fall of the Institute had come quickly, and every Initate, Scribe, Knight, and Paladin was celebrating. The joy and excitement and the feeling of fucking finally were all around.
Only two people hadn't joined in on the fun.
The Sentinal and the Elder.
No one had seen either of them as far as the soldiers heard, even though more than a few went looking.
Sole was out on the flight deck, overlooking Fort Strong. They were avoiding Maxson, as they both knew the first thing Sole did after the destruction of the Institute was go visit the former Paladin Danse.
The Elder is surely upset at the information, judging by the way every time he saw Sole, he started to march towards them until the Sentinel found a new place to hide. But, it seemed, they were out of luck as Maxson appeared by their right, leaning into the rail just as they were.
No one spoke for a few minutes until the Elder of the Brotherhood did.
"I just..." He turned to look at Sole. "I thought I knew you. I thought I could trust you."
They continued keeping their eyes straight, not looking back at him even once. "I know we're soulmates, but... you can't expect me not to go to him. I loved Danse before you, and then you ordered me to kill him. You do know me, but I'm not the person you idealize in your head. And you know that too."

Chapters: 4/6 Fandom: Fallout 4 Rating: Explicit Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: John Hancock/Female Sole Survivor Characters: John Hancock (Fallout), Female Sole Survivor (Fallout), Fahrenheit (Fallout), Sturges (Fallout), Paladin Danse (Fallout), Preston Garvey, Arthur Maxson, Father | Shaun (Fallout), Synth Shaun (Fallout) Additional Tags: POV John Hancock (Fallout 4), BAMF Sole Survivor, Canon-Typical Violence, Canon-Typical Racism, One Pair of Fashionable Sunglasses As a Metaphor, Explicit Sexual Content, Wasteland Aftercare, Hancock-Typical Chem Use, Angst, Grief/Mourning, BoS Negative, Minutemen Ending (Fallout 4), I Wrote This Instead of Sleeping Summary:
Rumors were, by their nature, unreliable things. Hancock wouldn’t have put any stock in believing them until she’d walked through his front gate. And absolutely none of them prepared him for the reality that was Alice Monroe.
But that was getting ahead of things. ~ A look at the road a badass Sole Survivor travels through the eyes of the man who loves her.
 Beta'd by Iron_Angel. NSFW will be marked **. Updates twice a week.
Chapter 4 - Bold of You to Assume
“I didn’t die, John,” she said softly, bringing him back to the present moment where he’d finally unleashed the pent up fear and worry and yes, anger.  He was still too far gone in all that emotional stew to be mollified, though.
“Let me find you a medal,” he sneered.
“Oh, I’ve got one of those already.  I think it might even have survived the war.”  The tone was flippant enough to throw him off his high horse and he stared at her.
The tone might have been light, but the look on her face was not.  And with her standing there in front of the mirror with her back to him, he could plainly see the scar on her shoulder.  The pattern of healed skin told him it was an exit wound from a fairly large caliber bullet.  Its matching entry wound was under her collarbone, much smaller and flatter.  He’d noticed it plenty of times before, and had even lavished it with kisses in the recent past.  The puckered nature of it told him it was old.  Older than the Vault.  Just like the split on her lip and the curl around her eyebrow that was usually hidden behind the sunglasses.
All at once a number of things fell into place.

Okay so I’m going absolutely crazy trying to find this fic that I think was deleted. It’s from fallout 4 and is Paladin Danse and female sole survivor. I remember it being a large fic either part of a series or just huge in general but I’m pretty sure it was a series. The story I believe starts with sole in the institute and she’s not actually Shaun’s mother. She’s a pre war genetic experiment. I know they go to the one place in the glowing sea where you get the mini nukes for liberty prime and she discovers more about herself. Charon is there and so is the lone wanderer if I’m remembering correctly. I know the series ends out with them like super in the future and Danse has died from either a brain aneurysm or a heart attack. If anyone has a link to the author or the name of this fic it would be super appreciated!

Chapter 9 - The morning-after-date
Tumblr media
Maxson groaned, the throbbing headache along with knocks felt like a jackhammer demolishing the inside of his head. Despite the lack of response, Cade decided to enter and walked towards Maxson who buried his face into the pillow.
"Not now", he grumbled.
"I'm sorry Elder, but I'm here on behalf of a worried Knight. I  don't care how she knew, but given the state you're in, it was the right call to send me."
Reluctantly, Maxson allowed Cade to pull him up to sit on the bed. His eyes, bloodshot and weary, met Cade's concerned gaze.
"What do you want, Cade?", Maxson asked, his voice tinged with both annoyance and despair.
Cade reached into his leather bag and rummaged around, searching for something. After a moment, he pulled out a glass bottle containing a blueish liquid and held it out to Maxson.
"My very own anti-hangover recipe", he offered a gentle smile, "as to what I want, you instructed me to keep track of every soldier's mental health, which includes you as well. So you want to tell me what happened?"
Cade grabbed a chair from the desk, pulled it up to the bed and took a seat, watching Maxson inspecting the liquid before taking a sip.
"This is horrible", Arthur complained, the disgust on his face evident.
"Worse than the headache?", Cade asked, chuckling as he saw Maxson shake his head.
The room was filled with a heavy silence, broken only by the sound of Arthur's deep breaths. He looked at Cade, his gaze filled with hesitation, knowing the weight of his words as soon as they were spoken. With a resigned sigh, he began to recount the events around you that had led them to this moment. His voice quivered as he confessed that the weight of leadership and the constant struggle to balance it with his love for you had become almost unbearable. The responsibility of the Brotherhood's future rested on his shoulders while the desire for intimacy and love tore at him and it had taken a toll on him. Cade sat in attentive silence, his face a mask of neutrality, as he listened to the Elder's every word. When the Elder had finished, the doctor looked at him for a moment, a gentle smile forming on his lips before he spoke up.
"Arthur," he began, his tone gentle yet firm, "your burden is not yours alone to bear. We are a Brotherhood and we stand together, which also includes her now. I can assure you if you'd know what your soldiers are doing in their free time while still performing their duty with best consciousness, you'd be less worried about all this. Why do you keep torturing yourself? If you're in love with her, just tell her and see where is goes. It won't prevent you from being the Elder, you can still chase us all around."
Maxson chuckled at the last sentence. The doctor was right and it wouldn't matter that he had no experience on the matters of love, you never judged him for it, so all that held him back from gaining a little happiness in his life was he himself. He tapped the doctor's shoulder, thanking him for the advice and before he headed out, Arthur had to promise him to take care of himself and talk sooner next time.

You dedicated the entire day to enhancing and repairing your power armour. You had planned on checking in on Maxson but as you would head out to the Glowing Sea tomorrow and dying of radiation poisoning wasn't on your to do list, you postponed your visit to this evening. After a refreshing shower, you swiftly made your way back to your quarters. However, you came to a sudden halt when you noticed a neatly folded crimson fabric and a piece of paper resting on your bed. Intrigued, you examined the items more closely and discovered that it was a flared scarlet dress accompanied by a message. The hastily scribbled note simply stated: 20.00 Control tower. A grin danced on your lips as you had strong suspicions about who had left this here and you wasted no time slipping into the dress. Crafted from a soft garish red fabric, it hung snug around your chest, perfectly highlighting your cleavage, whereas from the hips downwards, it flared out gracefully, falling just above your knee. You put on some make-up, stepped into a pair of well preserved black ballerinas you found during your travels through the Wastelands and you made your way towards the control tower, excitement mingled with nervousness in the pit of your stomach. You couldn't help but wonder what awaited you at the top of the tower.
Finally, the elevator doors opened, and the sight that unfolded before your eyes left you in awe. The control tower was transformed into an enchanting setting, bathed in soft glowing lights that illuminated the space with a warm, romantic ambiance. Countless candles flickered and cast dancing shadows on the walls, creating an ethereal atmosphere. And then, you noticed him. Standing there, dressed impeccably in a pair of black suit trousers and a tight white shirt, sleeves rolled up to the elbow, was the person you had suspected all along. Maxson awaited you with a gentle smile on his face. His eyes locked with yours, full of affection and a hint of desire as he took in the sight of you in that dress.
"Surprised?", he chuckled, taking a step towards you, his hands sliding around your waist to pull you into a hug.
You hummed in agreement, closing your eyes, inhaling his sweet scent before you took a step back again, eyeing him suspiciously.
"Do you remember yesterday evening?", you asked hesitantly.
"Why do you think I spent most of my day redecorating this tower?"
"Oh I don't know...perhaps you got up this morning and decided your grand plans to save the Commonwealth needed a more artistic flair?"
"I woke up with a pounding headache and Cade's disapproving glare thanks to a certain Knight", he joked, "I think said Knight may need to have a serious conversation with her superior."
The sultry tone of his voice went straight to your core. Placing a hand on his chest, a sly smile formed on your lips.
"Perhaps her superior should take care of that then", you whispered, your eyes darting between his and his mouth.
Maxson grew tired of the self-imposed restrictions, the desperation and fear, he only cared for you right now and he leaned in, his lips crashing on yours in a hungry kiss, finally letting go of all that was holding him back. His hands glided down your sides, fingers digging into the soft flesh of your butt. You gasped as he lifted you up, moving a few steps forward to settle you down on one of those faint blue pre-war machines. He hesitated for a moment, his eyes searching yours for any sign of approval.
"So, you wanted to talk to me", a mischievous grin formed on your lips, "here we are and I'm all yours", you purred, your hand trailing over his chest, "Elder."
Maxson let out a deep groan, pressing his forehead against yours and you could feel his grip on your thighs tighten. He had never thought the sound of his title could ever arouse him like this but every word leaving that irresistible mouth of yours had the potential to drive him crazy.
"Knight", he breathed, his lips trembling ever so slightly, "I...I..."
He tried to ignore his lust, the sweet temptation of your hand caressing the bulge in his pants, he had to resist for the sake of the most important words he'd ever speak.
"I love you", he took a deep breath, "I want this to be more, I want us to be more, a future for us."
You couldn't help but smile, pulling him closer to hug him tight.
"Me too", you murmured as you trailed kisses down his neck.
You felt your dress shift up while something pulled your underwear down and as you looked up into his blue eyes you saw the endless desire within them. You swallowed a moan at the sight of him, his lips parted slightly, his gaze trailing over your body while he threw your panties to the ground. Your mind went wild, flooding with images of how he'd fuck you right there but he suddenly dropped to his knees, parting your legs and dragging his tongue through your folds.
"Arthur", you cried out, your hand reaching for his head, your fingers entangling in his dark brown hair.
His licks were sloppy but relentless, drawing you closer towards your orgasm each time his tongue circled around your clit. His lips wrapped around your sensitive bud, sucking gently as he pushed two fingers into you, humming satisfied at how wet you were already. Your head fell back against the window, wondering for a brief moment if anyone could see you from the Prydwen but all thoughts were washed away the moment he started thrusting his fingers faster. You were so close, a breath away from the ocean of pleasure you'd gladly drown in but you needed more of him. You pushed his head away, panting while trying to calm yourself a bit before speaking. He got up, worries written all over his face but you wouldn't give him time to voice them as you took his hand, bringing his fingers to your lips and licked them clean. It was the moment Arthur almost fell apart, feeling his cock twitch within his pants while watching you unravel him with such a simple gesture.
"Arthur please", you pleaded, your hands fumbling to unfasten the buttons on his trousers before swiftly pulling them down.
He growled, rubbing his throbbing cock against your wetness. It was almost too much but the threat of sending both of you over the edge became imminent as he glided into you, your walls clenching around his length while both of you moaned loudly. He paused for a moment, breathing heavily, chuckling quietly upon seeing that you were as desperate as he was, pupils blown wide with lust. You wanted everything he would offer you, a burning desire to melt into him, nestled forever within his soul. Arthur began moving, slamming his hips into yours at a sloppy pace. Sinful moans filled the control tower as the shadows dancing on the walls bore witness to your intimacy. Your arms wrapped around his neck, lips clashing on his as you came, legs trembling as love and pleasure blossomed in a mind-shattering orgasm. Feeling your walls clench around him, Arthur promptly followed you, spilling his seed within you, moving away from you after a last few sloppy thrusts. Both of you were panting, broad smiles painted across your lips as you gazed into each other's eyes. Arthur took a rag, cleaning both of you up before taking your hand and leading you to the window, staring into the night sky.
"So what will happen now?", you asked, feeling his grip tighten at your question.
"Whatever we want to happen", he replied, "and after you return from the Glowing Sea we continue our plan to destroy the Institute and I will help you rescue your son."
He turned towards you, the sight of the affection held within your eyes made him weak. He delved into the knowledge of pre-war life, exploring the simple joys that people once experienced, the traditions they held dear—a glimpse into the life that could have been yours. In the harsh wastelands, where time showed no mercy, he yearned to bring you solace, even though romance and leisure were scarce commodities, especially within the ranks of the Brotherhood. Which was exactly why he had planned to ask you something important this evening but upon being in your presence, his courage faltered. Fear and uncertainty crept in, questioning whether it was too soon. He had no experience in such matters and was not long around his parents to grow old enough to ask them for their guidance in such matters. And although he valued Owyn's and Sarah's counsel, they never broached the subject of love with him. The connection that bound you two, it felt unique, a rare treasure he'd neither find nor share with anyone else, a truth he held close to his heart for now. He feared you might not be ready yet, and he couldn't bear the thought of losing you, not at this moment. And so, he led you back to the Prydwen.

Sanctuary | Danse x Male!Sole Survivor
Tumblr media
Pairing: Danse x Male Reader Fandom: Fallout 4 Ask: Paladin Danse's response to seeing your network of interconnected settlements, all with heavily-armed defenses and the growth of a new civilization, all without Brotherhood assistance?
~~~ This would totally happen pre-relationship between them. When Danse is still part of the Brotherhood. ~~~
"We're almost there." M/n said as he walked ahead of Danse.
The Paladin made a noise in acknowledgement. He let M/n lead the way. This was a resupply mission. The two were bringing some much-needed supplies to his settlement.
Danse hadn't wanted to deviate from their mission for the brotherhood, but M/n had been a good help and friend. He figured this wouldn't be a bad distraction.
They had just passed through the abandoned city of Concord and were at an old Red Rocket stop. However, the building was surrounded by walls and had a few watch towers.
"M/n! Hey M/n!" One of the guardsmen waved to them. "You stopping in or heading to Sanctuary?"
"Sanctuary! Have to drop off something!"
"Understood! We'll call ahead and tell them you're on your way. Make sure there isn't any surprises or anything."
"Thanks Donick!"
Soon the little outpost was behind them as they continued forward. Danse took the opportunity to ask M/n the question that had popped to his mind. "What was that place?"
"One of our Outposts. It was set up as a good forward waystation to Sanctuary. That way in case Raiders or Bandits try to make a move, we'll be ready for them."
Danse nodded. That made sense. He just hadn't expected that.
Soon both men arrived at a bridge. It was nice and seemed to have been rebuilt. Across the river, a large walled community was seen. Lights were on in the windows with smoke drifting up chimmnies. A whole community. A functioning community.
"Come on. I'm sure if we hurry there will still be some good dinner left for us."
They crossed the bridge and arrived at the gate. Danse noticed how the gate was surrounded by automated machine gun turrents. A few rocket launchers were stationed above the watch towers.
"M/n! You're back! About time too! Doc needs those meds like ASAP."
"Sounds good. Go ahead and open up Rhonda!"
She didn't waste any time. Soon the gate opened up and they could walk through. It was then that Danse noticed how they weren't in the community yet. There was in fact another gate they had to walk through and more turrents. "What? You think we're idle with our safety?" M/n teasingly asked Danse.
The other gate opened as the one they just walked through closed. They were then able to finally enter Sanctuary.
As they walked through the community, Danse couldn't stop looking around. He saw people laughing and smiling. Kids playing around with each other. Pets. He saw pets. Everyone seemed...happy. A lot more than he could say about some of the other brotherhood settlements he had seen.
"Everything alright?" M/n asked once he noticed how Danse seemed to be a bit lost in his thoughts.
"What? Oh! Oh yeah. I'm fine. I just...hadn't expected all of this." He motioned to everything around him. "I'll be honest. I kind of expected a few small shacks and turrents. Not a town."
"Ah. I see. Let me guess, that's what Maxson told you about the commonwealth? That we needed your help?"
"Well...yes."
M/n laughed and shook his head. "Of course." He knew it was the truth. Maxson was a pompous self-absorbed asshat. He thought anything outside of the brotherhood was impure and unnatural. That's why he didn't enjoy being near him.
The two made it to a building that was used as the town's hospital. A doctor in a white coat came rushing to meet them. "PLEASE tell me you have it." M/n smiled and reached into his bag pulling out a few packs of Radaway and some other healing stims. "Right here." The doctor seemed relieved. "THANK YOU." That's all the doctor said before turning around and rushing back to their patients.
"Come on. Let's get something to eat and rest a bit. It's been a long trip." He gave Danse' shoulder a pat and moved out of the building, the larger man following him.
The two were heading towards another building when a man in a long coat and hat approached them. "General! Glad you're back." Preston Garvey. Danse had met him a few times before. Not many, but enough to recognize the man. "We just got a call from Starlight. A group of supermutants tried to get through. Luckily those new turrents ended it rather quickly."
"Good. I'm glad. Any other trouble?"
"The occasional raider here and there, but nothing to really report on."
"Even better news. Thanks Preston."
"General." With that, the minuteman nodded his head and turned to continue his patrol.
"Starlight?"
"One of our other settlements. About twenty-five minutes south of here. Old drive-in." He entered the building with Danse and grabbed two bowls of soup that had been made in the kitchens.
The two sat down on the second story of the building on a patio that overlooked the settlement and a bit of beyond. "Another settlement? How many others are there?" Danse was curious. He had never heard of settlements working together. They were usually on their own.
M/n counted on his fingers and held up five fingers. "Five. Sanctuary and Starlight are two. There's also the Castle, Somerville, and Bunker Hill. Those are our big settlements. There's also a handful of outposts around like the red rocket we passed."
"How did you do this?"
"They really teach you that people suck in the brotherhood huh?" He pointed his spoon at Danse. "People want to live and not fear for their life Danse. Trust and Friendship can do wonders." He took a bite of his soup. "We help each other out. We're connected with the radio towers we built. We also make sure to keep our defenses updated and practice drills regularly. We also share supplies between settlements so that we're all successful."
"And it works?" Danse was amazed at hearing everything he had been told. M/n motioned to the settlement they were in. "Obviously. It's been a few years like this now. Of course, it's not always easy, but we make it work. We REALLY aren't as helpless as you were taught."
"I'm starting to see that." Danse' voice was low. He let a sigh escape his lips before he took a bit of his soup. It tasted nice. Felt very homecooked and filled with warmth.
Was this what home tasted like? If it was, he liked it.
