When the astounding artist of #GiantDays, #WickedThings and #HarleyQuinn, Max Sarin (@max_sarin on Twitter) announced they were opening up for commissions, I LEAPT at the opportunity for a piece of cartoon me, Heidi and Poe! Their work is fantastic, expressive and so full of life and is a MASSIVE inspiration for me to be better. I can point to the #FindingDee archives and see the exact point I discovered their fantastic work by the uptick in line quality and my desperate attempts at raising my creative cartooning game!Here's the wonderful piece (that I plan to color eventually) AND my doofy way of saying thanks to them! (Now I need to save up for more commissions from other favorite artists and jump on that, because this was tooo much fun!)

I’ve been really uninspired lately because I’ve grown really bored of my art style. I feel it’s too stiff and flat so I’m now experimenting with different styles and studying different artists. This one is inspired by Max Sarin’s comic style. If you don’t know their work definitely check them out on twitter! I’ve just finished one of the comic series’ they illustrated (Giant Days) and I absolutely love the style of the whole series. I love how expressive all their panels are so here’s my attempt at replicating their style with another group illustration of the Orilium gang. ➡️Giant Days #3 Ya he entendido Giant Days. Es un lenguaje distinto al que estamos acostumbrados. Por eso no me encajaban algunas cosas que ocurrían en él. No es un cómic que siga el ritmo normal de una historia, como por ejemplo leñadoras, si no que debe leerse mas bien como si fueran tiras cómicas. Por eso hay tantos saltos sin explicación, por eso los personajes parecen cambiar con cada número y no tener la misma personalidad de un capitulo a otro. Entiendo que pueda no gustar o desconcertar. No me extrañaría que la mayoría abandone la serie por que no cumple lo que parece prometer. Pero creo que simplemente se necesita un cambio de chip. Hablando de cambio de chip, mañana publico en el canal de youtube de @momoko_blog mi entrevista a @unbollitorellenodeodio , que ha dibujado un par de números de Giant Days y es una crack.
