This solid color was chosen for our BIttersweet Spring Aroma collection as a compliment to all the sweet sakura-themed designs. There's only 1 B and 1 C size left of our 🍄Fairy Ring🍄 maxi skirts in stock right now. This has been one of our most popular designs since we introduced it, and I'm really glad! I had so much fun designing a skirt that combined mushrooms and fairies, two of my favorite things, haha.

Willow's BC
It's almost time for Willow to gtfo the family home and carry on this legacy! But before she picks up where Felix left off and leaves for Evergreen Harbor on her globetrotting adventures, she wants to find lurve. That's where you come in! Details below...
This is just going to be a continuation of my gameplay posts really, but BC style. So I'm only loosely following the BC guidelines, and no rose ceremonies 'cause I'm lazy af. But, BUT.. it will still be fair.. so proper group dates/solo dates etc. Basically I'm gonna fill a house up with Willow and seven other sims and see what chaos ensues!
Willow is a squeamish maker right now.. her last trait is a mystery even to me at the moment so that might make things interesting, depending what it is. (。_。)
Rules:
YA sims only
Any gender/non-gender/sexualities welcome
Occults allowed but keep it to vampires or spellcasters plx
CC is fine but try keep it maxis match!
Give as little or as much info as you want about your simbs
No custom traits and just the normal amount of 3! (I tend to avoid custom traits/trait mods since they always break my game :c)
Extra Notes:
I have a height slider in my game which sometimes makes imported sims huge/tiny but I prefer them all to be similar sizes, ish. So lemme know if they're supposed to be a lil smaller than Willow, a lil bigger or the same.
I use Pralinesims Oasis Eyes N155 as my defaults so if you must make the eyes different then they'll have to be face paint.
My default skin blend is Llumisims Magnolia V3 so I guess now you know that.
I use MagicBots default feet V6 so if you also use those you can use the sock accessory toenail paints and they'll work in my game.. any other toenail paints might not work or look a bit wonky.
I have every pack apart from Batshit whatever it is.. I also don't think I have all the kits either. And I haven't updated my game with the new updated Spa pack either cos I cba.
Any non-winners can either be sent back to their maker or they can become a townie in my game, it's up to you!

Making Normal Channels in GIMP (with njob)
Hello everyone! I was explaining how to do this in the Sims of History discord server and realized how much of this process I learned through trial and error. There isn’t really a good step-by-step tutorial about how to do this in GIMP, only in Photoshop (at least no text-based tutorials). While I use both Photoshop and GIMP for various things, I prefer to make my normal channels in GIMP. This tutorial will walk you through the process and hopefully demystify normal channels in GIMP.
Normal channels (bump maps) add additional depth beyond your mesh, which is useful for things like folds, painted on pockets, and buttons.
This tutorial is particularly for how to make Create-a-Sim items, not objects, but a lot of steps should be transferable.
You will need (all free programs):
GIMP
njob
Sims4Studio and/or CAS Tools
First, open your diffuse texture in GIMP. I often try to use the light/base texture rather than one I have colored already, but if you have already colored it and didn’t save a base, don’t worry, it doesn’t make much of a difference. Don’t use an image which has a pattern applied to it, as that will create a bump on the pattern and appear like applique or something along those lines (unless that is your goal).
I recommend doing this step after you have tested your diffuse texture image and mesh (if applicable) in the game. If you have any last minute changes to either of these, you will probably need to re-do your normal from scratch.
If your image is in layers for recoloring, or not, choose to flatten the image. Transparency isn’t helpful in making normal channels, so get rid of it so you won’t have to worry about it later.
Once you have flattened it, the background usually turns either black or white. It doesn’t really matter which one, it won’t make much of a difference in njob.
Now, select the crop tool. You can see the current dimensions of the image in the “aspect ratio” box. For a CAS items, the original will be 1024:2048, which is 1 x 2. We will need to crop the image into a 1 x 1, or perfect square.
To have your normal channel as high quality as possible, you should use 1024:1024. This will work for clothing items like full body outfits, tops, bottoms, gloves, socks, and tights (basically anything mapped in this bottom portion of the UV map). For all of these items, you must use a square and cannot crop it to be smaller. For shoes, this means a very large blank area.
For accessory items like jewelry and hats, the cropping is different. For instance, a hat would be 512:256. If you are unsure of the dimensions to use, export the normal channel on the maxis item and copy its dimensions. The following instructions will assume you are making a clothing item and not an accessory item.
Click anywhere on the image while you have the crop tool active, then adjust your dimensions in the box to the left. You can manually type it in or drag the box and follow the size in the box as you drag.
The box should be perfectly aligned with the bottom and have no space below. If you have space below, just drag it as far to the bottom as you can. GIMP will stop you from dragging it outside of your current dimensions. If a little is sticking out at the top, that is okay. Nothing can be mapped outside of the 1024:1024 dimensions, so it is probably just bleed over or space filler that you are cropping off.
Press “Enter” on your keyboard to complete the crop.
Optional Step: If you desire, you may want to decrease the brightness and increase the contrast on your image so there will be more for njob to pick up. If you already have a lot of contrast, you may not need to do this.
Next, export your image as a PNG or BMP. Be sure to not overwrite your original diffuse texture.
You can now close GIMP, though you will need to open it again later.
Open njob, then your saved, cropped image.
Maximize your screen so you can see what you’re doing.
Go to Filter > Diffusemap > Heightmap and select that option.
The screen will pause to load for a bit before opening up a new box.
Your image will convert to black and white and may look a bit strange. The first step is to change your “Course Detail” setting to the lowest (or close to the lowest) setting and your “Fine Detail” to the highest setting. I generally play around with the “Mid Detail” and “Scale” until I get what I want. Try to have what you want to be visible stand out, while folds should be soft and fuzzy but still somewhat distinguishable.
Once you have what you need, click OK and go to Filter > Heightmap > Normalmap
There are two settings, “Scale” and “Blur Radius.” Neither of them have “ideal” settings, so you will need to adjust as you need. “Scale” controls the depth of the contrast and “Blur Radius” impacts the softness of the image. If your edges are too harsh, your normal map may look odd in game.
You will probably also have lines in areas in no texture. This is normal, and I will go over how to remove those later.
Once you are satisfied with how things look, save the image as a bitmap.
Now, open your bitmap image in GIMP. It is time to clean up the image and get rid of the artifacts. Unfortunately, unlike a specular, a normal map doesn’t have a mask to prevent bleed over onto skin or other textures. The unused areas need to be a midrange, solid grey. It is easier to edit at this step before you create your transparency.
Select a midrange blue color from one of the blank areas with your color selector and make it your background color by using the arrow button between the foreground and background colors.
Select the areas that should be blank and delete them, which will replace the lines with a solid blue color. This would be areas around the neck, wrists and ankles, and also places like the filler beneath skirts and tops that doesn’t need texturing. Be sure to select the odd lines around the image, which are usually a bright teal or hot pink color. Those can be very visible.
Sometimes, you may need to take your paintbrush and clean up the artifacts if they are in curved or very small areas. If anything looks too sharp, you can also use the smudge brush to smooth it out (very lightly). But don’t move anything around too much.
Once you have cleaned up your image, export it again as a bitmap. This is just so you can go back to it if you make a mistake later or need to modify it. Usually I save it as a new image, but you can overwrite the old one if you are feeling confident.
I have to point out that sometimes you can get away with not cleaning the artifacts from your image. But I have had too many issues with it in the past to skip this step.
Now it is time to make the normal map. Finally!
In the layers area, right click on your single layer and add an alpha channel to it. There is also a small button at the bottom you can use to add an alpha channel. You will need this transparency for the next step.
Next, go to Colors > Components > Decompose.
A small box will open up. Change your color model from RGB to RGBA to enable the alpha channel as a separate channel (layer).
Now, a new image will open that is your bitmap but greyscale. You will see four layers on the side called red, green, blue and alpha.
Select the red layer and click CTRL + A on your keyboard to select the entire layer. Then, click CTRL + C to copy the layer. (If you don’t have a keyboard, you can do “Select all” and “Copy” but this takes longer).
Now, go to your layer named alpha and press CTRL + V (paste) and CTRL + H (to anchor the layer). Now, you have replaced the alpha channel with the red channel.
Next, go to the green layer and select and copy it. Paste and anchor it into the red and blue layers, just as you did before with the red layer and alpha layer.
Your image won’t look too much different right now, it will just look like the green alpha channel rather than the visible red alpha channel when you opened it. Go back to the top bar and choose Colors > Components > Recompose. This will alter your original image, so the one you have open in layers will stay open. Go back up to the top and select the original image to go back to it, or close your layered image.
Now, your image should have changed from mostly blue to a transparent, mid-range gray with only a few elements visible. This is how it is supposed to look. If you don’t have transparency or it looks very different, then you probably messed up somewhere. Generally, I find it easier to go back to the original cleaned up bitmap (that you saved for future use) and start from scratch rather than trying to figure out where I messed up. That is usually faster.
Next, export your single-layer image as a PNG or DDS file (your preference). You will need a DDS plugin to save DDS files.
Open your item in Sims4Studio and import your new image file in the normal texture category. You will see a small preview in the box, which will probably show more details than you were able to see in GIMP. If it looks correct, save it and go to check it in game or in CASTools (which has a feature for previewing bumpmaps that can help you check for alignment problems). CASTools can be particularly useful if your computer doesn’t open the Sims quickly and you want to preview multiple bumpmaps. The only issue with CASTools is that it doesn’t really look much like it will look in game.

and several of our own designs in stock, altho quantities are running out - we'll only be restocking lavender midnight and fairy ring maxis for fhf design maxis this drop
Do you plan for any of your soon ish releases to include maxi (full length I believe is what that means) skirts? Or if you know a good place to get them? I recently wore the only skirt I own and decided I would like more. Swooshy swooshy, and also cooler in the summer heat. But of course I am incredibly picky so it's always difficult to find both patterns I like and things that fit well. I think I might like some of your patterns (there's so many I am not sure)
i do maxi skirt collabs with @freshhotflavors a few times a year, which are hosted on their store. i think there may be some leftovers from the last preorder in their store now but otherwise you’ll need to ask them about scheduling!

Long Awaited Replies
Hello everyone! It’s been awhile since my last activity here. Stuff’s just got real last few months and I am now experiencing some heavy RLS which makes the future of the whole Feverfew project quite uncertain. I’m very annoyed by the fact I have to move the release date over and over again, but, fingers crossed, I’ll be able to manage to make it this year. But before I post any updates, I need to answer my inbox!

Thanks @landgraabsims! Yes, Feverfew is based on British countryside aesthetics without any towns or villages in particular. It has a bit of everything, really. It’s a fantasy place after all. But I do use a lot of real life references for making landmarks for it.

One of the narrow curves picks up the texture from a road section with a crosswalk, so that looks a bit odd (30degree inner?). And a question - is there a Better Lighting for the Iron Bracket street lamp with the seasons banner? Thought the iron bracket would work, but it's not. Depending on the road DR you’re using, there can be some texture issues here and there since Rural Charm is optimised for road texture without any markings (apart from the broken white line). As for the Iron light post with a banner – no. I’ve only made 2 Maxis’ base game lamp posts.

Oh, that is so kind, Anon. Thank you! Yes, I do love to actually play the game. I enjoy building/decorating lots as much as live mode. In fact, I often get carried away during playtest sessions and just keep playing in lot mode and that’s why there are lots like ‘The Tower Inn’ or ‘The Moose & Beaver’ or sims like Tilda Phidbach, WHT-FC28 servo and their field lab.

Hello Eve! I might be wrong, but isn’t it Mansions & Gardens SP that stands for UC? Anyway, flashing red terrain is really weird consequence for just replacing a txt file. Neighborhood terrain doesn’t have any dynamic light. It has a light map instead which comes with Lighting remedy too. If you only just replace the lighting txt file without putting LR light map into your ‘Downloads’ folder, the only issue you should get would by unsynchronized light directions for hood decos and the terrain itself.

Hello Anon! Basically, there’s only one type of hood deco that isn’t showing up in lot mode and that is neighborhood effects. All the decals, flowers, fields, all the animated stuff (except for texture animation, e.g. Maxis’ marquee sign) is not showing up in lot mode. There’s nothing we can do about it. Yet. If you think that there’s a proper hood deco that isn’t showing up in lot mode, please PM me with some screenshots and we could try to sort it out.

Hello Anon! Oh, you’re most welcome. There is a tedious way to replace a texture on the existing tile of the real road, to make in into intersection so that it would connect better visually with decorative road pieces. But that takes time. What you have to do is to determine the tile you want to edit using technique described in this tutorial and then you have to change the texture name in the corresponding line. The texture names for the intersections (their index name parts) can be found in any road DR beforehand.

Hello Sunrader! That would be really nice addition for the highway set, but I haven’t made it. Thought it’s quite possible to make something similar if you use ‘One side exit piece’ from the motorway set and add some picnic tables, umbrellas and benches using street tables & benches set. There’s also many 4t2 deco conversions for toilets and other small size decos that would help to create a decent resting stop.

Thank you Anon! That’s very kind. I’m not sure if there’s any point in releasing SC4 map I used for Feverfew because it’s completely differs from the way it looks now. The road layout is different, there’s no canal, no islands on the river, hills are different, etc. It has been heavily terraformed and edited during development process. I’d recommend just to wait till the Feverfew neigborhood release.

Hello Anon! Yes, that’s possible, though I can’t say if I could make it myself. What I can say though, is that there’s a linden trees redux coming soon. It would make linden trees look better and highly optimised so that it would only take 4,5 Mb instead of 60 Mb without any losses in texture quality and resolution.

Hello Simmers!
It’s been quite the year for The Sims 4! We blew past the game’s 5th anniversary with no signs of slowing down. One of the community’s most highly requested expansion packs just launched recently, and we hope you’re all enjoying getting educated in Discover University. In case you haven’t heard, we’ve also launched another community Stuff Pack project, where your collective votes will decide the path of yet another pack coming to The Sims 4. And of course, The Sims’ franchise 20th anniversary is just over the horizon, which we’re looking forward to celebrating with you.
Today’s update has been influenced by you as well... We set aside time to specifically address issues that you’ve let us know are important to your in-game experience, and we hope the long list of fixes and improvements you’ll find below will lead to many hours of fun playing The Sims 4. In addition, we’ve squeezed in a few un-planned extras we hope you’ll enjoy. Not only have we added some new music tracks to the game, but we’ve also converted a number of hairstyles to now also be available for children and toddlers. While the adult versions of these styles will remain exclusive to whichever pack they originally came from, we hope you’ll all enjoy these additional options for your Sim’s little ones.
While Maxis will soon be taking a short break to enjoy the holidays (merry Winterfest, and a Happy New Year!), we’ll be back for another packed year for The Sims 4 in 2020. See you then!

FIXES & UPDATES
The Sims 4
Fixed an issue where macOS Simmers could crash when accessing The Gallery.
Fixed an issue where Nice or High Quality harvestables would disappear from Sims’ inventories after Travel or Save/Load.
Fixed an issue where Freelancer Career tasks would not complete after Sims would Travel.
Sims that were seated at a 6 seat round table can now Clean up the dishes.
Child Sims will be now able to enjoy Quick Meals again!
Fixed an issue where Sims didn’t write a genre book when “Write Genre Book” was selected.
Multiple duplicate interactions should no longer appear in pie menus when you have certain objects in your inventory.
The Jet Set Luxury Bath (bathtubJetsGEN_01) was listed as being Unbreakable when that wasn't true.
Speaking of Unbreakable, we fixed an issue with Hot Tubs and Stereos where unbreakable upgrades would not work if these objects were in use when upgrading them.
Fixed an issue in which some Sims could stand on, or walk through solid objects.
Adding a Sim to an existing household via the Create a Sim Stories feature will no longer subtract Simoleons from the household.
You can now extinguish a fire, even if the fire is within another object.
Fixed an issue that would cause Error code 510:5bd7fa0b to occur when attempting to save.
Sims can now Scrap the unfinished paintings of visiting Sims.
Light intensity will no longer reset when setting Auto Lights options.
Fixed an issue which made the item Tiny Globe & Sycee of the Prosperous Moon appear twice in Build Mode.
Half Walls toppers can now be applied to half walls on all levels of your lot.
Fixed an issue that caused Lots downloaded from The Gallery to be placed backwards and not being able to rotate them to an appropriate view.
Households downloaded from The Gallery should now have their starting funds set to the correct amount, and not just the base 20,000 Simoleons.
Child Sims will no longer receive Whims related to workouts.
Fixed an issue that did not allow Nordic keyboards for macOS to use the Size Down Cheat.
Fixed an issue where Error code 102:70c7f9a6 would occur when loading into Lots after loading a saved game.
Walls no longer will disappear when Taking a Photo in a Basement level room that does not have a staircase.
Bookshelves will no longer have the option to purchase University books if you do not own Discover University.
Sims will no longer flicker on and off the landing pad, when in the Rocket Ship using the WooHoo or Try for Baby interactions.

We addressed an issue that could prevent Sims from not being able to ring up customers who attempt to purchase from the warming rack.
Some boots, along with the Sims feet, were disappearing when the camera was zoomed all the way out. This should no longer occur.
The "Refer for Surgical Treatment" interaction is now available on surgery tables that have had their color altered with the bb.enablefreebuild cheat.
There are better ways to take tidy and efficient notes.
City Living
There were a number of confusing situations that arose as a result of Invites your Sims would receive. In some cases these would appear as two invites for the same event, one that was the “hey, I just wanted you to know” invite, and the other would be the real invite. They should behave more accordingly to expectations.
Sims with the Shrewd reward trait weren’t as shrewd as they thought they were. We have restored their shrewd’ness and they should now actually receive the money they so rightfully shrewded away at the end of each week.
Fixed an issue in which some shirts in Create A Sim would not tuck in appropriately into skinny jeans.
We blame it on bad investments, the cd market apparently didn’t mean compact discs.
yfTop_EP03Mesh_OmbreBlue now looks as intended when paired with skinny jeans.

Sims can now complete New Year resolutions on any lot, and not just their home lots.
The Lottery Holiday is back in your calendars! It should not be a surprise disappearing act any longer.
We spoke to the Holiday Gnomes and they have agreed to stop dropping seed packets if your Sims are not on Lot when the Holiday ends.
Fixed an issue where Weather would affect items inside buildings.
Flower Bunny’s contract has been renewed for them to appear on any Holiday or Tradition that they are scheduled to.
Mandrake and Valerian Root plants are now able to be planted indoors when it is Too Cold if Simmers have Realm of Magic installed.

Hello Simmers!
It’s been quite the year for The Sims 4! We blew past the game’s 5th anniversary with no signs of slowing down. One of the community’s most highly requested expansion packs just launched recently, and we hope you’re all enjoying getting educated in Discover University. In case you haven’t heard, we’ve also launched another community Stuff Pack project, where your collective votes will decide the path of yet another pack coming to The Sims 4. And of course, The Sims’ franchise 20th anniversary is just over the horizon, which we’re looking forward to celebrating with you.
Today’s update has been influenced by you as well… We set aside time to specifically address issues that you’ve let us know are important to your in-game experience, and we hope the long list of fixes and improvements you’ll find below will lead to many hours of fun playing The Sims 4. In addition, we’ve squeezed in a few un-planned extras we hope you’ll enjoy. Not only have we added some new music tracks to the game, but we’ve also converted a number of hairstyles to now also be available for children and toddlers. While the adult versions of these styles will remain exclusive to whichever pack they originally came from, we hope you’ll all enjoy these additional options for your Sim’s little ones.
While Maxis will soon be taking a short break to enjoy the holidays (merry Winterfest, and a Happy New Year!), we’ll be back for another packed year for The Sims 4 in 2020. See you then!

Fixed an issue where macOS Simmers could crash when accessing The Gallery.
Fixed an issue where Nice or High Quality harvestables would disappear from Sims’ inventories after Travel or Save/Load.
Fixed an issue where Freelancer Career tasks would not complete after Sims would Travel.
Sims that were seated at a 6 seat round table can now Clean up the dishes.
Child Sims will be now able to enjoy Quick Meals again!
Fixed an issue where Sims didn’t write a genre book when “Write Genre Book” was selected.
Multiple duplicate interactions should no longer appear in pie menus when you have certain objects in your inventory.
The Jet Set Luxury Bath (bathtubJetsGEN_01) was listed as being Unbreakable when that wasn’t true.
Speaking of Unbreakable, we fixed an issue with Hot Tubs and Stereos where unbreakable upgrades would not work if these objects were in use when upgrading them.
Fixed an issue in which some Sims could stand on, or walk through solid objects.
Adding a Sim to an existing household via the Create a Sim Stories feature will no longer subtract Simoleons from the household.
You can now extinguish a fire, even if the fire is within another object.
Fixed an issue that would cause Error code 510:5bd7fa0b to occur when attempting to save.
Sims can now Scrap the unfinished paintings of visiting Sims.
Light intensity will no longer reset when setting Auto Lights options.
Fixed an issue which made the item Tiny Globe & Sycee of the Prosperous Moon appear twice in Build Mode.
Half Walls toppers can now be applied to half walls on all levels of your lot.
Fixed an issue that caused Lots downloaded from The Gallery to be placed backwards and not being able to rotate them to an appropriate view.
Households downloaded from The Gallery should now have their starting funds set to the correct amount, and not just the base 20,000 Simoleons.

Sims are their own boss, so it didn’t make sense for them to do that.
Backyard
Fixed an issue in which some shirts in Create A Sim would not tuck in appropriately into skinny jeans.
yfTop_SP08BodysuitLace now looks as intended when paired with skinny jeans.
Vintage Glamour
Addressed several issues that caused the butler to fail to perform their assigned tasks.
Fixed an issue that prevented Butlers to help put Toddler Sims to Bed.
The Butler should no longer make food for themselves when they are not hungry.
Moschino
Emotional auras in photographs can now be toggled on/off.
Fixed an issue where some photos taken were a bit blurry when placed in frames in Live Mode.
Tripods placed on floors other than 1, 2, or 3, should no longer cause the camera to change floors when attempting to take a photo.
Ask to Pose interaction should no longer fail if the Sim attempts to run the interaction from the Open Street.

Temperatures Rising || Maxi x Harrison (Bondi Rescue)
I was watching a really recent episode (season 14 somewhere?) and poor Harrison got sized up by this guy who wanted to bash his brains out simply because Harrison approached him about being creepy toward a 15 year old girl. Huge respect to Harrison for being so good about that situation by the way, he handled it really well. Anyway, so this guy didn’t end up beating up Mr Reid but I wondered what would have happened if the guy had tried to. Tommy’s a cool bloke too, so no beef! Tommy’s a younger guy and Harrison has a little more experience under his belt so it makes sense as to why he would take the situation into his hands. Anyway, Harrison gets beat up and Maxi’s there for the aftermath. What a sweetheart.
The cameras surrounded Tommy, Harrison and the irritated Brazilian man, the crew completely silent as Harrison tried to talk him down. Tommy was lowkey tucked behind Harrison, done deliberately by the older lifeguard just in case things got violent. With the cops nowhere to be seen- dealing with another situation- Harrison knew he could make a citizen’s arrest, or he could talk the guy into leaving the beach without any interference from the other boys in blue. Jesse had radioed to tell them the cops would be on their way shortly, but with the guy becoming more and more violent Harrison wasn’t sure he could wait that long. Besides, if the guy wanted to he could head for the hills in a split second.
“Why are the cops coming?”
“You know why mate, you can’t be touchin’ minors like that.”
“But why?”
“Mate, you need to understand that you’ve done something wrong.”
“I simply saw a beautiful girl on the beach, is that a crime?”
“Worse than that, you kissed her and threw another into the ocean without her consent.”
Harrison was sweating from stress and the 47°C heat, but he tried to focus on what was going on. This guy, while small and nimble, could probably pack one hell of a punch- Harrison had very quickly learned not to underestimate people who looked unassuming. Just the fact this guy had thrown a girl into the water was enough to keep Harrison aware. Tommy was hiding behind him still, a half step to the left though so Harrison could move if needed.

Another ten minutes pass. Bystanders are watching with anxiety rippling through the crowd, but Tommy steps up to wave them off. Most leave in search of cool air, ice cream or something cold, but a couple hang around. Harrison has his eyes focused on the offender, irritation flooding his veins. Where the fuck are the cops when you need them?
Jesse radioed in again as nerves started to run through Harrison.
“Jesse to Hux, the cops are probably another ten-ish minutes. If you’re worried he’s gonna do a runner I’ll send Hoppo down to escort him, but at the moment we’re just gonna have to watch him. Are you good to do that?”
“Huxy to Jesse; I should be okay. Tommy’s down here, is he okay to be here despite only being a trainee technically?”
“Jesse to Huxy- Tommy’s good mate, you’ve done this before so you know what to do. If you’re worried about him put him on crowd control, I can see the people around you from here.”
“Huxy to Jesse; Cheers mate.”
Harrison turned his radio down, clipping it back on to his belt. The offender was watching him right back, clearly annoyed at being held without an explanation. Harrison could see he was becoming more agitated, and he wasn’t sure how much longer he could hold him on the beach.
“Look, mate, I’m really sorry about the delay, apparently the cops are tied up on the street, so we’re gonna have to just hang here a little longer.”
“I’ve done nothing wrong!” The man yelled, grabbing Harrison by the shirt. Tommy appeared, about to get between them when Harrison stopped him.
“Go get Jesse, tell him to get Hoppo and the cops down here asap.”
Tommy bolted for the buggy, peeling out of the crowd and heading for the tower. Harrison watched for a few seconds then turned back to the situation at hand, wincing when the guy tugged his shirt again.
“I did. Nothing. Wrong. Let me go!”
“Mate this is beyond my control-“
“-I’m not your mate!”
Harrison blinked; just in time for the guy’s fist to come into connect with the lower left side of his jaw. He fell to the boiling sand like a sack of kiwi fruit (pardon the pun), grasping his cheek. He knew without feeling that his nose was bleeding, and he stood after a moment to see the guy had taken off. Innocent bystanders had been shoved, but a couple pointed in the direction the guy had gone. Harrison thanked them, taking off. His radio on his belt crackled, before Tommy’s voice sounded.
“Tommy to Harrison, me and Jesse are on our way but Harries can’t see you anymore; is everything good?”
Harrison panted, speaking into his radio as he dashed.
“Harrison to Tommy and Hoppo; the guy has taken off, I’ve still got an eye on him. Hop, make a citizen’s arrest?”
“Go for it Harrison, get him off the street if you can. The cops are nearby; I’ll let them know what’s going on. Have you got witnesses?”
“Yeah, uhhhh, half of the beach at least?”
Hoppo laughed, before he became serious.
“We can see you Harrison, we’ll be there soon.”
“I got him, go and cut him off on the street just in case I can’t get there in time.”
“Tommy to Harrison; I’ve gotcha mate.”
The radio clicked off and Harrison willed his overheated, exhausted body to keep going in pursuit of this guy, watching out for tourists who had no idea what Harrison was doing. His legs ached, his lungs burned, and all he could think about was hitting up the apartment complex pool with Maxi later. Harrison blinked, and all of a sudden his target was close enough. Another couple paces and he could get him. To one side he could see a cop motorbike and to the other one of the beach Can-Am’s, but that wasn’t important to him in the moment.

The guy turned behind him and spotted Harrison, eyes widening. At just the right moment Harrison made a heroic leap, grabbing the guy by the hip and pulling him to the paved ground. They slid a metre, before stopping. When the offender made an attempt to get up Harrison pinned him to the ground, turning him on to his stomach and using his shirt as makeshift handcuffs that would work long enough for the cops to do the real deal.
“Harrison!”
With the ordeal over Harrison’s legs became wobbly when he tried to stand, and he promptly collapsed again. Hoppo and Tommy were there soon after, helping him up. An ambulance rolled up and Harrison looked between the two lifeguards in confusion, chest still heaving.
“I don’t- I don’t understand- why- I’m good, I swear…”
“It’s better to be safe than sorry. That was incredible Harrison, well done. Take tomorrow off, okay? I’ll drop your stuff at your place after work.”
Hoppo’s blue eyes radiated care and paternal warmth, something Harrison hadn’t felt since he left home to start lifeguarding. He only had Maxi and the boys on the beach, but with Hoppo there Harrison realised he felt safe. His eyes began to close from exhaustion, and Hoppo turned to the paramedics.
“I’m coming with him.”

“Is there anyone who can take him home, someone he can stay with?”
“His uh- his partner’s at home, I’ll give them a call.”
The doctor nodded, checking Harrison’s vitals once more.
“Okay, I’ll have someone come in and stitch him up, then he should be okay to go home. If he starts vomiting or becomes disoriented bring him back in straight away.”
“No worries. Thanks, doc.”
The doctor left the room and Hoppo turned to Harrison, who was asleep in the bed. The side of his body that had slid on the paved ground when he caught the guy was gashed pretty badly, from his shoulder to his knee and down the offside of his foot. Luckily it seemed the excessive heat from the day’s soaring temperatures had cauterised most of the bleeding, but a couple of the wounds were large enough to need a couple stitches to aid with healing. He also had bruising around his right eye from where he’d been punched, the bruising a green-brown along his jawline. There was a gash on the other side where he’d bumped his head, but the doctor had cleared him of concussion so far.
Hoppo sighed; it was time to call Trent.

“Hop, I haven’t heard from you in forever! What’s new mate?”
“You won’t want to have heard from me after this. I’m not sure if it’s on the news yet but Harrison did something incredible today that could potentially have saved quite a few girls from a creep on the beach. In the act of catching this guy, he copped a couple… battle scars.”
“Shit! Is he okay?”
Maxi’s voice deepened, conveying concern for Harrison.
“He needs stitches and he’s got a few bruises; he’ll be pretty sore and sorry for the next couple days but… he’s going to be okay. It was something from a movie Maxi; truly something I haven’t seen in ages.”
Maxi hummed; he could sense there was something else his boss wanted to tell him.
“The docs said he’ll be clear to go home once he’s had the stitches; I have to get back to work, but I was wondering if you could pick him up?”
“Yeah- yeah, yeah course. I’ll be there in a couple minutes, I have a day off; I’m not even on call at the station.”
“Thanks Maxi; he’ll be glad you’re there. He’s sleeping right now, but is there anything I can pass on to him for you?”
“No, no that’s cool. I’m just jumping in the car Hop; I’ll be there in a bit.”
“No worries Trent; take it easy and keep the aircon up high.”
Maxi laughed, and through the phone Hoppo heard him turn it up high.
“Gotcha Hop. See you soon.”

Voices whispering in the room woke Harrison from his sleep and he groaned, his good arm going over his eyes as he tried to adjust to the bright lighting. The voices stopped abruptly, and then he felt someone sit on the bed beside him.
“I gotcha Hux, I gotcha. Take it easy.”
“T-Trent?”
Harrison tried to open his eyes to get a glance, but the harsh lights made his head hurt and he cried out, burying his head into Maxi’s side. Maxi sighed, running a hand through Harrison’s sun-bleached hair. The tips, usually brown like the rest, were now borderline platinum blonde from being at the beach a majority of the week. Maxi had to admit, it looked like Harrison had tried frosted tips.
“You’re okay, it’s just me and Hop. Deep breaths; focus on bringing air in then out.”
Harrison’s hand came up to grab Maxi’s, and they sat there for a moment while Harrison calmed down. Hoppo had found the light switch and dimmed it so Harrison wouldn’t be so badly affected, earning a grateful smile from Maxi. The eldest lifeguard left the room, closing the door behind him so Maxi and Harrison could have some time together.
------------
“Okay, I’ve signed the discharge papers so you’re good to go. Trent, you know when to bring him back?”
“Yeah doc, I gotcha. Thanks.”
With Maxi’s help, Harrison got off the hospital bed and stood, wincing.
“Okay yeah, I can’t wait for the pool.”
The doctor smiled, doing a final check over Harrison’s file.
“Looks like you’re good to go. If you have any questions, either of you, there’s a 24 hour clinic available on the Bondi Junction road.”
Maxi hummed, wrapping an arm carefully around Harrison’s gashed hip, giving his good one a nudge.
“We’ve got this, right Hux?”
“Yeah, we’re gonna be fine. Thanks for this doc, really appreciate it. The cameras will probably be here in half an hour or so.”
Harrison was clearly exhausted but he still had the twinkle in his eye that made Maxi smile, pressing a kiss to his temple.
“C’mon, let’s get going. You need the pool, a shower, and some aloe vera.”
Harrison nodded, using Maxi as leverage to walk.
------------
In the car Maxi kept his hand on Harrison’s thigh, making gentle circles as he drove. Harrison fell asleep pretty much the second he had his seatbelt on and slept all the way back to their apartment. Maxi went between checking him and keeping an eye on the road for the entire fifteen minutes, making sure Harrison wasn’t in any more pain than he already was. Just as he was pulling into the parking area Harrison groaned, shifting his head away from the bright outside to the darker inside. His eyes opened and he squeezed Maxi’s hand, Maxi glancing at him mid-park.
“You good?”
“Mm. Jus… tired. Can we skip the pool?”
“Course. How ‘bout the shower?”
Harrison nodded, eyes closing again. Maxi chuckled, turning off the car- yes; he could park and talk at the same time. He was just that talented. He grabbed everything the doctor had suggested from the passenger seat floor and rubbed Harrison’s shoulder, making sure he was awake.
“I left the aircon on for ya.”
“Thanks Trent.”
------------
With one arm around Maxi’s shoulders and the other carrying the pharmacy bag Harrison made his way into the elevator and through their door to the couch, pretty much collapsing straight away. Maxi disappeared into the kitchen and Harrison heard the clinking of ice hitting glass, before he reappeared with that glass full of ice and water.
“Doc says you need to keep drinking so you don’t get heatstroke. Keep it slow.”
Harrison sent Maxi a withering look as he took a sip before placing the glass on the coffee table. He sat up, pulling Maxi on to the couch beside him. He took his boyfriend’s hand, giving it a squeeze.
“I’m okay, y’know. We deal with assholes all the time.”
“I don’t know about you, but assholes don’t punch lifeguards just trying to do the right thing.”
“Maxi-“
“-Harrison, when Hoppo called me I was really scared you’d been really hurt. Just let me freak out for a second, since you’re not.”
Harrison fell quiet and Maxi doubled over, head in his hands. He sucked in a deep breath, releasing it after a couple of seconds before he straightened and pulled Harrison into his arms.
“Yeah; you scared me, but you’re okay. That’s what’s important.”
Harrison hummed, nuzzling against his boyfriend’s neck.
“I’m gonna be pretty busted up for a couple days; Hoppo gave me the rest of the week off to recover.”
“Awwww nooooo, poor Hutz,” Maxi teased, giving Harrison a fake pout. Before he could say anything, Harrison’s lips were on his, and he instinctively closed his eyes. Damn; even with a half busted lip and some face bruising, Harrison was still a good kisser. They pulled apart, and Maxi brushed his thumb over Harrison’s bruised cheek. He winced, and Maxi pulled him into a hug.
“I’m glad you’re okay. Really glad.”
“I was scared for a second there; I didn’t know what was going to happen.”
Maxi glanced at Harrison who had moved to rest his head against his shoulder, the pair stretching out on the couch. Even though it was way, way too hot to do anything even remotely close to snuggling they still sat together on their couch that was probably too small for this, a mess of arms and legs and abs. Every time though, Maxi found Harrison on his lap and Harrison seemed to like that- for being someone willing to speak up when things go to shit, Harrison was quite the cuddler too. Maxi kissed the not-bruised side of his head, sighing.
“How about you get some sleep, and I’ll watch the cricket?”
“Mmm… tells me when we bat.”
Just like that Harrison was drifting off to sleep, one arm wrapped around his stomach while the other had found Maxi’s shorts to take hold.
“Thanks,” he murmured. Maxi glanced down with a smile, and then turned up the air conditioning. If Harrison was going to stay there, that aircon was going to work overtime.

"Ladies, Gents! Find Seats! Sit in them!" All twenty-four models followed Yani's request. We just wrapped our rehearsal, everyone did phenomenal. I can only pray that we get it like this at 583 Park Ave. Yani and I have been thee dynamic duo for the past seventy-two hours. I've been steaming outfits, she's been bagging accessories. I've been designing roll-away walls, she's been contacting every contractor in her contacts to design the black and gold glitter floors.
Honestly, in the past month, Yani and I have been on our hustle. I finished my last shoot and have been on go since. Erik and I have basically been like two ships passing in the night. I usually would leave before him, and come home after he arrived. We never talked about my father's birthday, our kiss..well..kisses. None of it. I've been too busy. Yasin and I have been texting here and there, but I haven't seen him either. He's been understanding about it though. The only person I've been spending my time with is Yani.
We've collectively gotten maybe eight hours of sleep in three days. So now, we're just exhausted and over it. We're trying to get this rehearsal over and done with. The theater's silence is my queue to step on the stage, I do so, scanning my models faces. They're looking like kids on Christmas Eve. So excited for what the next day has to bring. Their faces make me grateful, my smile spreads and everyone breaks out in applause. I decipher a few, "Yeah Syd!" "You did it girl!" and "Woos" in the crowd, I yield my hands up and down, they lower their yells. "Hey everybody, We're down to the wire here. We're less than a day away. We've been working our asses off for a month and a half. I couldn't have ever gotten this done without any of you. I'm excited for everyone to see our hard work. I'm even more excited for you to see your hard work pay off."
I point to Iyo in the control center, He dims the lights and lower the projector screen. "I now present to you.. UPTXWN." Applause rings out as the projector displays a drone clip of High Bridge among the sunrise and Syd's voiceover, "Uptown, Home of the greats. From The Bronx, to Harlem. The place I know, the place I love." The six models she started with appear on the screen, daringly sitting on the railing, laughing with one another in their high end garments. "Our hustles.. It always had this special..thing about it. We always went a little harder. Thought a little smarter. Emerged to the top a bit faster." Photos of me and all of Uptown's finest begins scrolling through from right to left. From a photo of me and Dapper Dan when I was fresh out of college. Diddy and I when I was an intern at Chanel. With Kerry Washington a bit after Save the Last Dance came out when I was twelve. Sistah Souljah, Kid Capri, Bianca (aka Young B), Cam'ron, Juelz, and Jim Jones back when Rock-a-fella were still together, Kalis, and finally, A$AP Mob & me when they were fresh in the game back in 2011.
"And when we're on top, we set trends. We define eras. Their stamps will forever be evident in our culture. Here's mine. Here's UPTXWN." All of the photos scroll backwards and the screen goes black for a few seconds. Images of the Big L tribute wall outside of the Harlem Up Deli Market, in black and white appear, then the same original six models; Sam, Levi, Von, Jade, Deanna, and Cass kneeling at different levels, crowded around the wall. Making sure not to block his face or name. Then Pretty Flako instrumental bangs through the theater's speakers. The TV flake transition changes to the Bailey house shoot. The drone shot pans around the corner of the property, all twenty four models posing looking like royalty draped in over $80,000 worth of clothes collectively. The visual pans over to a slowed down visual of Nina flashing her bottom grill, her thick frame vibing out to the up tempo beat. Then to Xierra kneeling beside her, giving face in her side profile. The screen shortly displays a wide pan of the property and models again, then switches to Levi. Iyo's suggested scene of displaying the details of his tattoos on his shirtless body-- while simultaneously showing the VVS necklace, the embroidery on the custom one of a kind jean jacket; came out perfectly.
The photos of each model in each of their looks scroll through at the right speed so each detail is fully displayed. Every model stands up, showing off as their photos went across the screen. As Gina's photoset emerges, I turn to the screen so I can roll my eyes. I instantly become reminded of how flirty she was with Erik before Yani had to snatch her up to take these. Yani stands beside me, peeping the entire scene, "Girl, suck it up. She in it now. Let's get it over with." I shake it off, turning back to the models.
The park Marcus Garvey Amphitheater scene pops up, it was a gloomy overcast. Which was perfect for the theme. As the looping instrumental repeats, each model was either sitting at the top of the folding seats, or crouched on the seat of the folding seats. The collective total of every look? $110,878. I'm lucky I got such great relationships with these clients and these models didn't fuck up any of they shit. The first visual was Von, on the center stage. His long hair hanging over his entire face. He rocked this black long open hooded jacket, shirtless. Displaying his massive musical themed chest piece. It gave me a grim reaper vibe that I was definitely looking for. The jacket was a piece I asked Chris Brown's people to create for their Black Pyramid line. They fucked with the vision and agreed to do it. Von flipped the bottom of the jacket back with force, the rest of the models appeared on stage, smoke filled the stage floor as the all black visual came to life. Gina and Cass rocked matching contrast dresses, Cass was the only model not in black that day. I put her in a white intricate lace Erdem Dress. Gina wore the matching Black dress.
Jade and Deanna were back to back. Jade was wearing a black deep v neck, with a leather ribbed comme des garcons jacket. With a cascading gold necklace reaching her stomach. Accompanied with black and gold aviator Louis Vuitton shades, Black ripped Levis I thrifted on the East side, and Jefferey Campbell's Legion booties. Deanna was wearing my favorite outfit of that day. A black long sleeved Oscar De La Renta ruffled shirt with cut out shoulders, a Burberry black ruffled skirt, and black Averil Doc Martin boots. Her bamboos and three finger ring spelling out her name put a street edge on her look that was near and dear to my Harlem bred heart. GG beat every woman's face and gave them the same cohesive smokey eye with the black, In The Spirit MAC lipstick. The only difference makeup wise was Cass' white undereye liner.
Once again the photos of every model starts cascading slideshow style. Johan was my second favorite look for that shoot, He rocked a black high low long sleeved Alexander Wang shirt, black distressed Givenchy jeans, and his personal black on black Ralph Lauren Hi Boots. I was going to put him in some other shoes, but I saw the ones he had on and they looked way better with the fit. We accompanied that look with a black Cuban link necklace, the matching bracelet, and Dolce & Gabana retro flip up round glasses.
Everyone's rave reactions trigger my tears of joy, it's all of our first times seeing the visual's final product and I couldn't be any more proud. This has really been my baby. I've nurtured it, I've put in the work for it. This moment was like its graduation. Everyone looks at me, "Awwwwww!" Yani gives me a big hug, "I'm proud of you, kid." I squeeze her, "I'm proud of us, kid." I push out a laugh.
The final shoot displayed the brownstones on Mount Morris Park, the street right outside of Marcus Garvey Park. Where my parents' old brownstone was. I only needed my original six for this one, since all twenty-four wouldn't fit on the stoop. That day, it was sunny. Not one cloud in sight. Perfect lighting for the intimate shoot. The theme was spring, specifically, pastel colors.
I dressed Jade in a pastel yellow Ted Baker maxi dress, I accessorized her outfit with vintage canary yellow teardrop earrings with a matching tennis bracelet. She wore some nude Christian Louboutin spiked peep toed heels. She stands up when she finds her face and yells while twerking, "Long Hair! Red Bottoms! Long Hair! Red Bottoms!" Everyone, including me burst out in laughter. She kept saying it so much during the shoot, I let her keep them. Paid the $1,500 tab too. Deanna was draped in a Monroe and Main white two piece suit with black accents on the collar and cuffs. We accompanied that with my personal pearls I got from my mom before she passed, some white Manolo Blahnic pumps, and some VVS diamond earrings while her hair popped in the sunlight. She wore her low cut with a rose gold tint. I put Cass in a pair of nude Emilio Pucci wide legged trousers, a White Alexander McQueen peplum top, and a matching nude blazer was draping over her shoulders. Her accessories was a silver double C Chanel choker, charm rings from Tiffany Co., and a vintage Chanel crossbody, gifted from Karl Lagerfeld himself. He said I needed something old for my collection.
The guys were matching my girls' fly. Von parallels Deanna with a Tom Ford cotton two piece suit, I laced him with some white Versace loafers with the gold Medusa emblem on the center, with the Cuban link chain Johan wore at the Marcus Garvey shoot, and golden Panthere De Cartier rounded sunglasses. Levi's parallel was for Jade's look. He wore a pastel yellow Calvin Klein. Accompanied with a large size canary ring on his index finger, and the Burberry vintage loafers. Sam paralleled Cass, in a nude ASOS suit with the matching vest. I kept it simple and just accessorized it with my dad's gold pocket watch and black Stacy Adams dress shoes.
I thought the presentation was over, but then the screen transitioned to me working behind the scenes. Me pointing and directing at the Bailey house, with the wind blowing like crazy, me filming on Highbridge at the crack of dawn, Iyo even snuck some footage of the meeting we had in Morningside Park. It looks like Yani snuck some footage of me putting the image board for the fashion show stage together as well. I'm just admiring the scene of watching the hard nights and amazing days I shared with an incredible team. The last shot was me sitting on my old stoop. I was just reminiscing, thinking of how my mom, dad, and I would eat ice cream in the spring in the same spot. I looked up, as I normally do when thinking of them, put my hands together and mumbled, 'allah , shkraan lak.' The camera was too far to catch my phrase. Afterward I bowed between my legs so I could have my emotional moment to myself.
Everyone hops on the stage to crowd around me and initiated a group hug. Once everyone slightly disbursed, I see Gina still sitting in the audience with Erik, I guess he just got here. I hear the doors open again and see Yasin, smiling at me.

By half past 10, everyone had gone home except for Yani, Nina, Gina, Erik, and Yasin. Nina is waiting on Rashad to pick her up, and I guess Gina is looking to Erik to take her home. She's literally been all up under him since his arrival.
"Tomorrow's gonna go great, babe. You got a great team behind you, you've been super focused. It can't go any other way." Yasin lands a kiss on my temple as I blush at his encouragement. I blink in Erik's direction, he's giving the same look he gave us at Rashad's party. He then grips Gina, pulling her closer to him, "Yeah. You got it Syd. We gon head out. See ya later." with that, Erik and Gina strut to the exit. Nina's phone dings, "Oh, bae is here! See ya tomorrow Syd! We gon kill it, boo!" She hugs me and Yani then jogs out the double doors, "Nice seeing you again Yasin!" he nods, "You too!"

"So tell me something about you, Sin! I've only talked about me when I see you. What was lil Yasin like?" We are strolling down Saint Nick Avenue after getting grilled jerk chicken from King Barka. We decide to sit on a park bench right outside Saint Nick Park to chat since I wasn't quite ready to go home. "Well, I was born and raised in Brooklyn. Flatbush. My moms is from Brooklyn as well. My dad's side of the family is from Harlem, the eastside, but they love uptown just as much." I grin as he continues, "I was a bad ass kid growing up. Always fighting, getting into trouble at school, I even got expelled in middle school." "Well damn! How did you go from that to--" I wave my hands around his silhouette, "This?" He takes a bite out of his chicken and flashes a sexy smile, "My mom sent me to live with my Uncle. The one that retired and gave me the maintenance business."
"Ahhhh, I see. He whipped you into shape?" He snorts, "Oh, he whipped me alright. A lot. He taught me what it is to be a man." "Where was your father?" He continues eating, pausing his story for a spell, "Uh.. He was in prison. He pushed weight for about ten years, he got caught up. He didn't snitch, so he got twenty. He got out after eight years for good behavior." "How's your relationship with him now?" He shugs, "We're cool. We had a little spat when he first got out. I had to be the man of the house for a while for my moms and sisters. I resented him for it." I take a hold of his free hand, "We patched things up recently." "So him and your mom still married?" He nods, "Yeah. Moms held him down. That lady.. She deserves the world." He finishes his dish as he glows at the mention of his mother.
"She had to get two jobs before I turned sixteen and worked with my Uncle. She held down our household for three years, alone, before I was able to step in and help her. After that, she went back to school. She finished the year before my pops got out, now she's a nurse. Doing what she loves to do." "That's great. That's what life is about, doing what you love." "Definitely." He throws away our empty plates and we keep walking down the avenue, "So what do you love to do Yasin?" "I love music." I stop in my tracks.
"Let me guess, you rap?" he sucks his teeth, "Nah, girl. I play instruments. Three; Acoustic guitar, piano, and snare drum." "Ah, okay! When did you discover your talent?" "I was... ten, I think?" "You make songs?" He pulls a slick move behind me, grabbing me by my waist. I roll my eyes as we continue to walk, "I haven't made a song in five years." "Why not?" I feel him shrug behind me, "I've been busy." I turn around to grab his hands, "You're never too busy to do what you love." He smiles at me, I sense the same glow about him that he had when he spoke of his mom. "Especially when it makes you this happy...just talking about it." Yasin closes the gap between us, "Maybe, you're right. Look at you. Doing what you love. You're inspiring Syeda. Beautiful, too." He strokes my left cheek with his palm. I freeze, much like I did a couple weeks back in my apartment with Erik.
Speaking of Erik, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do about what happened since my dad's birthday. I guess Erik knows what he wants, and that's Gina. So why am I freezing? What's stopping me? All of a sudden my inner thoughts are silenced when Yasin seals our distance, gently kissing me. My knees buckle and he hoists me up by my butt, cuffing the bottom of my cheeks. That makes me even weaker, he breaks off from me, "Damn girl. You good?" My eyes flutter as I respond, "Yeah. Yeah. I'm good." I pull him by his shirt to kiss him again.

Counting On Season 8 Episode 8: Thrift Store Date Night

Jessa and Ben, Joe and Kendra and Josiah and Lauren are having a thrift store date night where the spouses will choose outfits for each other. Jessa and Ben say they are not the most creative on date nights, but Ben thinks this will be different and fun. The producers tell Jinger and Jeremy about this and they are grossed out that they didn’t wash it before. Jeremy says Ben will have the hardest time because he is a bit of a germaphobe. Jessa says no peeking. Joe says he is worried about getting the sizes right. Jessa says they have to wear it in public so be considerate. They head off.
Joy and Austin are at home with Gideon and Joy says it’s been rough but good. Joy says the c section was tough to recover from, but he has been sleeping. Austin says he worried about him the first few nights, but he will always worry. Joy says this has given her a new appreciation for moms. Austin changed a lot of diapers the first few weeks of Joys recovery. Joy is so clearly in love, it is actually very sweet to see. Joy says Austin gave so much for her and Gideon the first few weeks. Gideon fusses a bit as they eat, and Joy thinks he is tired. Joy wraps him up. Austin jokes that he thinks people have more kids because they’re so tired they forget how hard it was.
At the thrift store, the shoppers make lots of jokes about what they will pick out. They look through the racks and Jessa suggest doing grandpa looks which makes Kendra giggle. Ben gravitates toward denim dresses. Joe is not too sure about that. Lauren jokes that they don’t have Josiah’s size, so she should look in kids. Josiah is nervous about the girls laughing while trying to find sizes. Joe, sweetheart that he is, is trying hard to find something nice for Kendra. Lauren has a little money left so she gets Josiah a prank outfit.
They get back to the house and Joe says he was nice. Lauren is excited about her prank and they wait for the guys to come out. Josiah is wearing PJs and the other guys are dressed up a bit. Ben got his grandpa outfit, but he still does look cute. Kendra thinks joe looks good in the yellow sweater vest she got him and jokes “I’m sorry it worked” which is actually funny. Josiah comes out in his real outfit. Joy and Austin say they’re sad they missed out. Jessa pulls out the jean dress, Lauren has a nice dress and Kendra had a maxi skirt and a tee shirt- a little more casual but she says he did a great job with fit and comfort. Then they go off to dinner.
In Laredo, Jinger and Jeremy are off to the fair. She says the smells in the livestock barn were really intense 20 weeks into her pregnancy. They walk through anyways They get Korean rice puff cereal soaked in liquid nitrogen, so you eat it and breathe smoke like a dragon. They have fun with it but Jinger only does one. Jeremy sees a mechanical bull and decides to try it. Full disclosure: I once worked as a mechanical bull operator. Jinger worries about him getting hurt and Jeremy pays and gets on the bull and makes it 20 seconds. In my experience, that is actually pretty good for an adult man. Jinger and Jeremy enjoy the fair and Jeremy says it would a great place to bring the kids.

I decided to write this post because it seems like there are quite a few misconceptions about how you should dress for these day tours in Cappadocia, Turkey. I have a suspicion that Instagram is to blame for this. Heck, if you had only glanced at my outfit post from Monday, you might have thought that’s actually what I wore for a day out and about in Cappadocia (and not just for photography purposes).
The photo on the left is what I wore that morning…only for photography purposes. And the photo on the right is what I changed into for a day of exploring on the Red Tour.
This is the first trip in all of my travels that I felt like the vast majority of people were dressed in ways they were going to regret by the end of the day. (I mean, there’s always ONE person…but this was an alarming amount.) I saw everything from evening dresses to leather skirts and high heels. There’s nothing wrong with any of these outfits…but if you’re going to be out and about exploring for a day in Cappadocia…these are not wise outfit choices. By the end of the day, even I was ready to rip my boots off because my feet were sore!
What are These Tours, Anyways?

I should probably explain what “red & green tours” actually means, though! These are essentially referring to routes – the “red line” and the “green line.” Following these circuits means you’ll get to see the vast majority of what the area has to offer. The red circuit takes about one day and the green circuit also takes one day. I’ll get into an in-depth explanation of what you’ll see on each of these tours in my next two posts! (I worked with New Goreme for both of these tours, and they wonderful!)
But overall what to know is – the red tour is the less strenuous of the two. You’re basically just driving from site to site and taking photos. The green tour requires more walking and some hiking as well. However, even though the red tour isn’t all that physically demanding…it’s still a full day of driving from spot to spot and getting out in areas that are dusty and rocky. (And getting to some of the churches at the Open Air Museum are a bit of a jaunt.) So, leave your fine garments and stilettos at home! You’ll thank me later…
My Tips for Dressing for the Red Tour
What I wore for the Red Tour

I had done this tour in early November. So, the weather was quite cold in the morning, and by the afternoon I was usually pretty comfortable (didn’t feel the need to wear a jacket by the afternoon). Most people are visiting in the summer months, though. So, the outfit I wore would certainly not be ideal, but I do have some tips…
Here are my thoughts on dressing for this tour:
1.) You don’t need hiking boots. If you don’t own a pair of hiking boots, you certainly don’t need to buy a pair for this tour. You’re going to be on paved streets or at the worst, gravel viewing areas. There is no need to run out and buy hiking boots.
2.) But for goodness sakes, wear comfortable walking shoes! Even though this tour doesn’t require the amount of hiking and physical exertion that the green tour does…you’re still doing a fair amount of walking, and some of the churches you’ll visit require walking up some precarious stairs. (See photo below.)
Getting to some of the churches was not exactly easy!
3.) Out of all the tours, this is the one you could get away with wearing a dress for (in the summer). If you’re visiting when it’s going to be hotter than heck, you could wear a comfortable dress (i.e. something that breathes well in the heat) and sneakers for this tour – no problem. (Leave the floor length maxi skirts in your hotel room, though!) So, you could still get some cute photos for the ole Instagram. However, when I went in early November…I would’ve frozen wearing a dress. Pants, scarves, long-sleeved tops and a jacket were perfect for this time of year.
A blanket scarf was perfect for this trip in November!
4.)Think about sun protection. You’re going to get quite a bit of sun during this tour. You’ll certainly regret not wearing sunscreen and sunglasses. I think wearing some type of hat for sun protection would’ve been a good idea as well.
5.) Dress in layers. The morning will likely start out quite chilly…but you’ll be sweating by afternoon. Be sure you’re able to take some layers off if you’re getting too warm.
My Tips for Dressing for the Green Tour
What I wore for the Green Tour.

As you can see, I wore the same outfit for both of these tours! I really only switched out my sweater, so I wouldn’t be the smelly kid on the bus. It was also colder the day we did the green tour, so I needed a thicker sweater…and you’re also outside for longer periods of time, hiking and walking (in comparison to the Red Tour).
Here are my thoughts on dressing for this tour:
1.) If you have hiking boots, you won’t regret wearing them! However, comfortable walking shoes would suffice. As you can see, the terrain is a little more extreme for this tour. You’re also going to be doing some hiking to get to various spots. I still don’t think this is reason enough to run out and buy hiking boots, though. Comfortable athletic shoes would be fine. But if you have some hiking boots, you won’t regret wearing them! Also, I would not advise wearing flip flops!! Look at that photo above…you’d kill yourself wearing shoes that don’t have some sort of a grip!
2.) This is not the day for dresses! You’re going to be hanging out in an underground city for the morning. And some of the tunnels you go through will require you to be hunched over (so, short dresses are not advisable). You also don’t want to be tripping over your dress as you’re going through these tunnels. So, I would opt for pants or shorts, depending on the time of year you’re visiting.
Not a great day for a dress, as you can see!
3.) Wear clothes that wash easily. This is really something you should do for both tours, but more so this day. You’ll likely get dusty at the very least, and maybe a little dirt from the walls. So, wearing white pants or a bright white shirt might not be the best idea…
4.)Think about sun protection. You’re going to get quite a bit of sun during this tour as well! Sunscreen, hats and sunglasses are a good idea!
5.) Dress in layers. Again, the morning will likely start out quite chilly…but you’ll be sweating by afternoon. It’s also a bit chilly in the underground city, but you’ll get sweaty on the journey down. Be sure you’re able to take some layers off if you’re getting too warm.

I know getting that perfect photo might seem like it’s worth it to suffer all day in an uncomfortable outfit…but I promise, you can still get nice photos in comfortable clothing! If you only take away one piece of advice from this post, though, I hope it’s to wear comfortable shoes. Even for the Red Tour, my feet were tired by the end of the day.

Mid-Century Abode - Bedroom Addon for TS4
It was about time I did another bedroom. There was too many slim pickings with cc i have made that worked well and I have only done a few bed frames too. The thing that held me back was the bedding. Maxis bedding sucks, full stop. Its flat and unattractive, but I hate decor blankets because they don't animate, so are really only good for picture-taking rather then normal gameplay. I finally figured out how to re-mesh the bedding into a more pleasing shape, so expect future bedrooms to use this same bedding. Everything about Tasks
How's it going guys today. I want to go over a question called task scheduler. This is a super super common interview, question right now: that's going on at Facebook, so it's a good one to know. As a quick note, sorry that I've not been uploading like the past month or so I actually got sick for a while, and then I was out of town - and I was studying for a bunch of stuff, so kind of can really can commit a lot of Time to uploading, but hopefully I will start uploading super regularly again. I don't really want to commit or promise anything just yet, but I really am trying to upload a lot Morgan. So hopefully I will be able to do so. So, just as a quick start up - and you guys have any kind of questions you guys home and do be sure to leave in the comments I'll try and address all the comments like I always do and I would be happy to try and solve any question. You guys are having problems with so again today is task scheduler. This is asked by Facebook. Definitely a good question to know it says, given a character array representing task.
Cpu needs to do. It contains capital letters, A to Z, where letters represent different tasks. The task can be done without the original order. Each task could be done in one interval for each interval. The CPU could finish one task or just be idle. However, there's a non-negative cooling interval and that just means between the two same tasks. There must be at least and intervals that the CPU is doing different tasks or just being idle. You need to return the least number of intervals that the CPU will take to finish all the given tasks, wow. That was a mouthful and kind of broken English, but anyways the whole gist of this problem is that we're given a bunch of tasks, some of which are recurring so here right. We see that a curves 3 times B occurs three times and we need to process all these tasks on the CPU and the only catch really is that between two same tasks, there's some non-negative cooling interval. So if this is our example, right and n is to 2, which is the non-negative cooling interval. We output eight and the reason is because we're on a and then B and then we have to be idle and then a then B again, and we have to be idle right because we haven't had two processes in between a here. So we can't rerun a, and so we have to be idle here and here and then we output 8, because this took 1 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 8 cycles.
I guess, or intervals to actually run all these tasks. So the first thing that should really kind of jump out of you that jumped out at me is this is like a greedy approach, and by greedy I mean you want to run the most frequently occurring task first, and the reason for that is because then, if You run the most frequently occurring tasks. First, you have the best chance of not running into the situation where the CPU has to be idle right. So, ideally, the CPU will be idle as little as possible and if we run the most frequently occurring tasks first, we have the best chance of it running again in the shortest time period, because we can put all the other tasks between it.
So that's the first thing that jumps out. The second thing that jumps out is that, because we want to always be running the most frequently occurring tasks or if we can't run a right, which you know arguably in this scenario, is the most frequently occurring task. We want to run the next one, which would be B, so we had five processes. We always want to greedily, be taking the most frequently occurring task that we can process it process at any given moment. So we probably won't like a max-heap right, so we can keep track of all the most frequently current tasks. So I think what we can do is we can make a map a hash map. We can count. However, many times all of our different tasks occur, throw them all in a heap and then we could be in doing our processing. So let's start doing that.
Okay, so we're gon na make a hash map. So hash map will map a character which will be a task to an integer, which is how many times it occurs. Map equals new hash map cool and so now, we're gon na say for every character, C right, which is really a task in our tasks. We'Re gon na say, map top put that character with maps out yet or default C: comma, zero plus one. So if you guys haven't seen me use this function before all this is doing, is it's gon na say put whatever C maps to in the map increment? It by 1, so plus 1 or if we've never seen C before we're gon na put it in the map with a count of 1. That'S all that means well, okay, cool! So now what we want to do is we want to make a maxi right. So, let's make a priority queue, priority queue and it's just gon na hold integers, because we don't really care what task is running necessarily. We just want to make sure that the count of the tasks is the highest or the most frequently occurring so we'll say max heap equals noon. Priority queue cannot type right now, oops.
Now we need to tell the priority queue: how to organize itself right. So we're just gon na pass it function, saying if you're given two elements a and B return or compare them by saying B minus a so all that's going to do all that fancy jargon is really just gon na say. Give me a max heap. Put the max the max number at the root of the heap, so we have constant time access to it cool. So now we have a max heap, so we're never just gon na, say max heap dot. Add all we're gon na say, map dot values. So all this is doing is throwing all the values from our map into our key, and now we get to the actual processing. So we need a return value. So I'm just gon na call this cycles because, typically, when you're dealing with CPUs you're talking about how many cycles are running and I'm sorry how many cycles have passed and how long a certain process takes in terms of cycles, things like that so cool. So now the idea is that we're gon na use our max heap to determine when we're done processing, so our max heap is empty. We'Re done. Otherwise we have some processing to do so.
We'Re gon na do that. So while our max heap is not empty right, we still have some sort of processing to do, and so now we want to do is we want to try and process again the most frequently occurring task that we can write whatever is available so like here? We couldn't run a so we would have run the next thing. Maybe there would have been a third task see in some example, then we could have run so we're gon na do is we're going to iterate through, however long the cooldown interval is and we're just going to constantly try and take tasks to process. So to do that we'll just say for in I equals 0 well, I is less than n plus 1 because it's inclusive right. So if a cool-down is 10 seconds, we need to actually make sure we're waiting, a full 10 seconds, not 9, so we will say, while it's less than n, plus 1, 5 plus plus, and we're actually going to also make a okay. So we're gon na make a list called integer, we'll name at temp equals new ArrayList, and so the idea of temp here is we're.
Just gon na store all the processes that were actually able to run in this while loop or the current iteration of this. While loop, so here we would have been able to run a and B and then we would have been idle. The next time we've been able to run a and B, and then we would have been idle. So now, we'll just simply check if the max-heap max-heap is not empty, then we're just gon na record the fact that we're running whatever's in its route, so we'll say, temp, dot, add max-heap, remove and so again all we're doing is we're taking the current thing in The root of the max heap and we're just gon na say: okay, we're running this. So now, once this loop terminates, we need to determine okay, everything that was in temp right, so everything that we just ran for the given cool-down interval does it still need to be processed more right, and so we determined that a process needs to be run right. If it still has some number left right so every time we run a process, we want to determine the value and if it's not zero, then we need to add it back to the heap right, because we have to run it again.
So we'll just iterate through everything in temp, so for in Zion, temp and we'll just check if we subtract. So if I so, if we subtract one from that current value that we're on in temp, if that's greater than zero, that means that that task still has to be run right. So that's like us running a once. We still have to run a twice. I'M sorry two more times right because it occurs three times. That'S all we're doing so. If we haven't run it enough times, we're gon na say max heap. Add I so we're just adding it back to the heap so now. Finally, once we get here, we need to account for how many cycles that actually run so there's only one interesting scenario like there's two things that could potentially happen, but every time one one of them will happen except the end. So, at the very end, if we let's say run right like here, are two processes a and B, you don't actually need to sit there and be idle for the other.
You know, however many seconds of the cooldown right. We only did that much processing to run a and B, and then we should terminate. We should just be done. So what we can say is we'll say well we'll increment cycles by looking at max-heap and if it's empty, so if max-heap thought is empty. If that's true, then we know we only need to increment cycles by, however many things that we ran so we'll just say: temp dot, size, and otherwise that means that we needed to wait. The full cooldown period like this is a scenario where we run in and we just have to sit there and be idle, so we'll say, plus n plus 1. So again, the idea is just that if we can just simply terminate right, we just finished running the remainder of the tasks.
We only want to increment the number of cycles by, however many processes we just ran, but every other time we'd probably get stuck at the cooldown, so we're just going to increment our cycles by n plus 1, which is the cooldown so now. Finally, once this loop terminates, right or max-heap will be empty and then we should have process all the tasks. So all we have to do is return our cycles.
