In the scene where the boys are biking with Holly, I hope Mike and Holly start talking about El so that Holly can be like, “Will, why don’t you have a girlfriend?” and Will can be totally taken by surprise and give some slightly odd, contrived answer that Doesn’t Sound Quite Right so that the alarms can finally sound off in Mike Wheeler’s brain.

This is it my two biggest comfort characters this year finally combined (and yes Mike just burned William)
Vash would 100% try to find the good in William and prevent Mike from killing him, but his pacifist ideals won't work since y'know, things are quite complicated in the FNAF world and the Aftons are not quite alive either

I wanted to do the 100 favourite films game that I saw half my dash doing, but the moment I tried, I immediately felt as though I had never seen a single film in my whole entire life. Everything I had ever enjoyed went out of my head. Thus, the obvious solution: books!
(I suspect there of being quite a lot of recency bias in this list - I've read several of these for the first time within the past three years - but I do really love them all...)
(Anyone expecting me to believe that they have read all 100 of my favourite books should prepare a short explanation for how and why they came to read a) a comprehensive history of British council housing and b) a short series of essays about the Beeching cuts. Also, that person should prepare for us to be best friends forthwith).

I just KNOW that soon after Will and Mike tell the party about their relationship, they start using Will to humble Mike.
Case in point: first person to do it is Max.
They’re arguing about something stupid, and she calls over to Will, sitting on the sofa, and says, “Will, tell him that he’s wrong!”
And he sighs, obviously agreeing with Max’s argument, and complies. “You are kind of being unreasonable, Mike.”
And suddenly, Mike’s spluttering his last griefs and rebuttals, and giving up reluctantly. Everyone sort of pauses.
Half of them haven’t ever heard Mike apologize, much less admit that he was wrong.
Then, Dustin does it. Uses Will’s input to get his comic book back from Mike.
Then Lucas. Then El.
Then Max several times after that. So on and so forth.
And Mike, well aware of how they’re winning, continuously fails to defend his point when Will’s involved. He’s not stupid, just ultimately soft and hopelessly in love.

I had a thought today that is either funny, disturbing or both, depending upon how you take it. So, the Mister and I went forth a-voting today and we went off to get ourselves some lunch. Coming home, we saw a homemade campaign sign on the side of the highway protesting / urging people to vote against a couple of candidates who were proposing an expansion of a local sewage plant. Me: Since I've had my brain in Trigun lately (I was writing a fanfiction chapter last night) I've been thinking about THOSE Plants - you know, the humanoid sapient caged-people ones who make and process everything on that planet. This means that SOME of them HAVE to be sewage-processors, doesn't it? THOSE POOR PLANTS! My Lovely Mister-Man: Meet Mario and Luigi. This one's Mario, this one's Luigi. Me: I think I'm going to write a fanfic about that now.

Look. Maximum Mike Pondsmith, I love your games, but my little brain can’t keep up with all of this. Well, I guess it’s like that old saying. “Born to play Mekton Zeta, cursed to not really feel like rereading the rule book.”

A unique past encounter with one of my favorite authors, J.M. DeMatteis!
Back when I still used to be active on Twitter before I finally decided to leave that hellsite for good (and that was coincidentally one month before Elon Musk decided to buy it out...), I would sometimes interact with well-known comic book creators and would occasionally learn some very fascinating behind-the-scenes information from them.
Most notably, I once joked about this scene from Spider-Man: Maximum Carnage (specifically from Spectacular Spider-Man (1976) #202 by J.M. DeMatteis & Sal Buscema) wherein Mary Jane has trouble concentrating on her book while her husband Peter is out risking his life to combat Carnage's massacre throughout Manhattan, stating the following: "I always loved this scene from 'Spider-Man: Maximum Carnage' where Mary Jane tries and fails to distract herself from her worry and concern for Peter’s safety by reading a terrible novel!"
Tumblr media
I got the impression that it was a "terrible novel" simply off of MJ's thoughts here, but the writer of this particular issue, J.M. DeMatteis, actually personally responded to my tweet and clarified that he actually meant to convey an entirely different meaning with this scene:

BTW, I'm personally a massive fan DeMatteis' work as he's easily among my Top 5 personal favorite comic book writers (right alongside G. Willow Wilson, Brian Michael Bendis, Grant Morrison & Jason Aaron)! I'm particularly fond of his run on Spectacular Spider-Man alongside artist Sal Buscema (which Maximum Carnage crossed over into) from the early 90s, his famous storyline Spider-Man: Kraven's Last Hunt with artist Mike Zeck along with the severely underrated Spider-Man: The Lost Years & Spider-Man: Redemption miniseries with artists John Romita Jr. & Mike Zeck respectively from the otherwise infamous Clone Saga era, as well as his Captain America run with Mike Zeck & Paul Neary!

And I've also had the good fortune of interacting with DeMatteis multiple times back when I was still on Twitter! He's a really nice, fun and charming person on social media!

There'd be essays about the way prison break deals with queerness from a in and out of universe perspective too. I won't write it myself someone else do it.
#luly talks#i can only talk about teddy and his bisexual ass and how he is like Actually bisexual like he just Likes Men#but there's that faint homophobia that faint shame#and of course. his whole backstory.#doylist and watsonian takes what does this mean for the writers what does this mean for ghe characters#is this a deeper look into the flaws of our society or is this a biased take from people detached from this reality#grrrrr WOOFWOOOFWOOFOWOOF WOOF#sucre has a lot of weight in this area too bc there's talks of sexuality w him as well#john linc mike and franklin they don't be fucking.#linc is the most heterosexual male ever and it's beautiful... C-Note is just married he'd def fag it up hard but he's just like. he has#goals. same w john who's like. freaky with it but not thinking about sex. just like Mike. they have priorities.#HOWWEVERR sucre has a few scenes mostly revolving about this very same homophobia i was talking about#with him fearing his girl will think he turned sissy in prison and then getting embarassed bc putting on a curtain means gay sex#and you'd make an argument for him and mike being kinda gay with it.#but he's like. he'd neeever. i dont think any of these men could#but that's a comment on intimacy more than anything. and vulnerability. which is why it ties to social context#they've been in a maximum security prison for a year at least all those we know#some for Longer. peepaw has been there for like 40 years or whatever#and most come from already manly male violent contexts#like do you guys know what I'm trying to get at. I'm not educated enough to express it coherently.#but do you see it...

I thought that, generally speaking, cyberpunk as a genre (using lowercase to avoid confusion with TTRPG) only asks that Ship of Theseus question about people who are hacking off whole, working parts of their bodies to replace them with cybernetics. The dude who lost a leg in an accident or needs a new heart isn't typically included in the discussion, and that's even if augments and stuff are in the cards at all.
I’ve been thinking about cyberpunk’s fixation on the Ship of Theseus “how much of a human can you replace until they stop being human” and it all comes down to ableist bullshit, I hate it so much
We are done with examining the ship of Theseus, it’s finished now.
