VR-LA’s canonical proficiency in Athletics will never not be funny to me. We forget about it because he’s a squishy wizard, but boy is more trained in athleticism than Kyana. Also, not to derail with the robot brainrot, but Austin mentions in one episode that Maxim has a -1 to Strength or something and that just makes VR-LA’s proficiency in Athletics even funnier. Like, I see why we’re all about Maxim picking up VR-LA because it’s cute as hell but… I don’t think that’s the reality of their relationship! I think it’s the other way around! And I think a VR-LA who can just fucking pick up Maxim whenever he wants is a VR-LA who has even more tools in his menace toolbox. Seriously, why aren’t we incorporating this fact into our fics more often?

Good god guys, it’s finally here.

At a whopping 4 hours and 13 minutes, the Professionals compilation is finally complete. Included herein is every single interaction between Maxim and VR-LA, in one convenient, easy to reference place.

So, the discord has a devil Maxim au (au made by @caliburn-not-calculator )

So I decided to make a short thing! Set in that au. Basic lore is just devil Maxim and human (?) wizard VR-LA in a modern (?) world where VR-LA keeps summoning Maxim to study Maxim and Maxim falls hard

This specific lil thing is based on this message from the discord, also from Caliburn! (And others after!) The entire questioning is based on this message from Fleet! @afleetingdownpour

"This is the first contract in quite some time." Maxim commented idly, watching as VR-LA read it over with quite some satisfaction. "You've been relying on older contracts."

VR-LA squinted at Maxim through the barrier for a moment before shifting to sit more comfortably on the floor, continuing to read without comment. He made it to the last page before smiling. "I'm sure you wouldn't mind me striking out a few things as usual?"

"Depends on what those things are." Maxim leaned forward slightly, interested in what VR-LA had caught this time. He normally got everything, but Maxim had a little idea for this game this time. "Guide me through it."

There were a few minutes of discussion, Maxim giving in without protest and enjoying the smug expression that got out of VR-LA. VR-LA signed it, then Maxim signed it as it was passed back to him. VR-LA's expression quickly dropped when he noticed Maxim's own, frowning intensely. No despair, no worry yet.

Maxim went to one of the middle pages, towards a paragraph about payment where VR-LA had already scratched something out. "I believe the wording contained on lines 2, 4, and 7 within this paragraph entitle me to a small favor of my choice. One I already have in mind."

VR-LA tensed. "Which is?"

"Could you give me your hand?"

"Give as in for you to remove from my body or otherwise take?"

"No." Maxim said. "Or for any other physical harm."

"Mental harm?"

"None intended."

VR-LA thought it over. "And you're not referring to giving help or some other metaphor?"

"It is not a metaphor." Maxim answered. "What other metaphor could it be?"" Maxim knew, he was teasing.

"...bastard." VR-LA mumbled, not answering that. After another moment of hesitation, he put his hand through the barrier.

Maxim gently took it with his clawed hand, leaning over to press a kiss to VR-LA's hand before releasing him. "Favor completed."

VR-LA retracted his hand, looking as confused as he was flustered. "That's all you wanted?"

"If you want to give more, I would be happy to take more."

"Not what I meant!" VR-LA squawking, wiping his hand off on his scarf in an exaggerated manner. "Let's just- let's complete the rest of the deal."

"Of course."
