i’m posting this here for new ts2 players who are particularly used to playing with lots of cc in the sims 4 (i have over 80 gb+ in my sims 4 mods folder). i am not a sims 2 expert i just have a cc addiction. 

the sims 2 is my favorite game and since the rerelease last week, i am inspired to play again (aka i will be redownloading the starter pack and seeing how it runs). to help my computer not explode my goal for cas is to ONLY download default replacements for the in-game items. ts2 is charming and lovely but i need it to be personalized so i can get back into playing again. 

BEFORE YOU READ MY RAMBLES: 

this entire spreadsheet would not be possible without ts2 default database! you NEED this to follow my spreadsheet and it is a useful tool for tracking your own defaults.

if you like the look of ts4 clay hair, platinumaspiration has literally replaced every single hair in the game.

if you like the look of realistic hair, malvernsims has replaced probably every single hair AND clothing item in the game.

only download ONE default replacement per item!

some things to consider:

here are the common abbreviations used when talking about defaults:

af/am = adult female/male

yf/ym = young adult female/male (young adults are only available in uni)

ef/em = elder female/male

tf/tm = teen female/male

cf/cm = child female/male

pf/pm = toddler female/male 

u = unisex

uu = unisex for life stage and gender 

this is my list so obviously i picked defaults that i like. feel free to make a copy and edit the links.

the hairs i picked are in the poppet v2 hair system. in the ts2 there are many hair systems from different creators (here's a comparison chart that's helpful in picking which system you like) and essentially they make edits to the maxis colors/textures for others to use. i recommend sticking with one system so that the hair colors will match (or don’t, it’s your game!)

many hairs have different color variants. since the ts2 does not have a swatch system like in ts4, different variations of the same hair count as separate hairs. so for example, the adult female “dreadsband” hair has 5 color variants: blue, dark, maroon, tan, and myrtle. since i am relying on only default hairs i have 5 different hairs that replace all the variants. if you don’t want to do that, i would recommend downloading hiders for all or some of the variants depending on what you prefer!

if something is left out i either: couldn’t find a replacement and will download a hider, i didn’t want to replace it (this will be in the case for a select few clothing items i like), i haven’t gotten to it yet, or more often then not, i forgot!

Owned Restaurant Profit Increase

Two versions to download:

We all know how hard it is to maintain a restaurant business in The Sims 2, right? You barely make any money and, if you have some employees to get paid hourly, there's a good chance you'll even end up losing money. Well, once again I've been digging through the files for a while until I've found something to fix this issue. I have to say, this is not the ideal solution at all, but it still makes the business actually profitable, so I thought it might be worth sharing anyways. This tiny mod edits just one single BCON value, and it's super easy to tune to your liking! A lot of technical details, a tutorial on how to tune it, and a big testing research under the cut (bear with me please, I promise it's worth reading).

So the way an unmodded game moves money in a restaurant business goes like this: the moment your waiter puts the dish on the customer table, you get a small percentage of the price of the food deducted. Then, once the customer finishes eating, they pay you the full price of that food (based on how expensive or cheap you set your business). Simple enough, right? Ideally, the best solution would be increasing the price of the food, but no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't find those values anywhere. So what's left on the equation? Yup, that small percentage you get deducted first. I was lucky enough to find that one, so changing it to a negative value means you actually get extra paid first. And that money comes from nowhere, the customer doesn't pay extra, they only pay the price of the actual food. That works for me!

As a quick example, in a new business with 0 stars, if you keep the default price on average, you always gain 28 simoleons for serving a bowl of Mac N Cheese. However, you also get deducted 4 simoleons first, so it's actually 24 simoleons per customer. That's just sad. The Double version of my mod makes it so you get 22 simoleons first, and then the customer pays those 28 simoleons. That's a total of 50 simoleons per customer. More than double the profit, not bad! The Triple version gives you a total of 71, pretty self explanatory. The numbers don’t match exactly with double or triple profits, but I didn’t want to spend that much time finding the exact value to make it exactly double or triple, you know, especially considering there might be other factors that affect your business income. I’m not that good at maths to be honest... orz

So how do you tune this? All you need is SimPe. Open the package, click on the BCON file and edit line number 14, on the Dec box. The default Maxis value was 20. I changed it to -100 to get roughly double the profit, and -200 to get triple profit. If you want to increase the profit even more, make sure you keep it negative when changing the value! Then just click Commit and Save. Done!

One extra note before I continue. The extra money you get with the mod does count for the balance you see on the UI menu for the business on the top right. So if you like to keep track of your income, the mod will take effect on those bars. However, it won’t count for things like the First Simoleon prize thingy. So for now I’m not really sure if this extra money would count for other things such as Lifetime Wants related to gaining money. I haven’t tested it that much.

Okay, now you know almost everything you need to know about this mod. If you want to read some ramblings on how I tested this, keep reading. Otherwise, you’re good to go!

So, let’s talk testing, because that’s something I actually enjoy doing. I built a simple restaurant lot, with about 5 tables available. The conditions were:

-3 Sims from my household to work as host, waiter and chef. No external employees, so I don’t need to keep track of extra salaries to pay.

-Schedule is roughly 15:00 - 22:00.

-New business level 0. Prices were kept at the default average.

-I didn’t use the Basic Sell interaction. If the customer didn’t want to eat at my restaurant, then so be it.

-The chef had 10 points of cooking skill, so I could add any food to the menu. However, I only chose one food to cook to keep the profit numbers as consistent as possible.

For the first case, I chose cooking only Mac N Cheese, a very cheap food that makes almost no money at all. It doesn’t require any cooking skill points. Mac N Cheese gives you 28 simoleons when the Sim pays. -In an unmodded game, you also lose 4 simoleons, so it’s 24 simoleons per customer. After running the business for the set schedule, I got 240 simoleons of profit. Pretty disappointing! If I had employees to pay, I would only have a few simoleons to spare, if any at all. -With my Double version of the mod, you get an extra 22 simoleons, making a total of 50 simoleons per customer. After running the business with the mod in, I got 400 simoleons. Not much, but hey, it’s something.

For the second case, I chose Filet Mignon. This food is pretty fancy, and it requires max cooking skill. Filet Mignon gives you 83 simoleons when the Sim pays. I also noticed the customers take way less time to eat it compared to the Mac N Cheese, so that’s an extra bonus to make the business run faster. -In an unmodded game, you also lose 13, so it’s 70 simoleons per customer. After running the business, I got 630 simoleons of profit. Not bad, but considering you need to max out the cooking skill, it’s almost insulting spending so many hours just to get that… -With my Double version of the mod, you get an extra 65 simoleons, making a total of 148 (!) simoleons per customer. After running the business with the mod in, I got 1036 simoleons. Okay, nooow we’re talking! That's the fancy restaurant status I like to see.

You might be wondering why these numbers are so inconsistent. Well, sometimes my lovely waiter decided to drop the tray on the customers, poor guy. That added to the randomness of how customers decide to enter the restaurant or not, and if the game sits more than one customer on the table or just one of them, if someone gets stuck for a while losing time… all of that can end up making the results a bit inconsistent. That being said, I had better luck when I was running the business without the mod in, yet I still got quite a lot more money with the mod in. I didn’t keep track of the numbers for the Triple version, but as you can probably guess, that one would be even more profitable.

One last case I wanted to test and compare: a completely different type of business, a games and entertainment one using the Bandatron ticket machine. In that scenario, I got 21 simoleons per customer, each hour. So after that schedule of 15:00 - 22:00, I got a total of 789 simoleons! All my sim did during those hours was bartending. That shows how easy it is to run a business with a ticket machine, and the biggest advantage is that you don’t have to pay employees if you don’t need them, and you don’t need any skills at all. Just plop down that machine, put some objects, relax and let the money flow by itself.

So yeah, in conclusion, Eaxis really messed up programming the restaurant businesses, there’s no doubt about it. Hopefully my mod helps balance things out. And if you think it's still too low on the incomes department, you can always tune it to your liking! As far as I know, this should not conflict with anything, but if you run into any issues, let me know and I’ll try my best to fix it asap.

Small Rambling Ahead

Hello, guys! I feel like ranting a little, hope you don't mind, hehe. In general, I was seriously sick two weeks ago and I'm slowly recovering. It had to be flu or something. I was really scared because, besides typical flu symptoms, it hit my mental health PRETTY hard. I still struggle a little but it's way better, more stable. There is again some light in my head.

I wrote about it because it connects to my "sims life" in some way. After feeling a little better and being able to sit on my pc, I realize that I hate my sims AGAIN *sighs* I'm so tired of making "clones of real people". A whole process of making sims that way is a fuel for my OCD. It's an endless loop that always looks the same. It's toxic for my brain and waste so much time that I have for my pc. In general, I wish so freaking much to have a nice style that will be maxis match with a touch of realism. Something that I can peacfully settle with and enjoy every aspect of the game. I still want to base my sims off real people but not in such an obssesive way... With that being said, as for now, I'll be focusing on converting cc. Perhaps one day I will have an idea for new sims and the results will be good. Now I just want to bring new stuff for this game. Every cc converter, forgive me if I share something that was already published. I'm not doing it on purpose, I'm just behind with new cc in ts3 community.

Summary - Penelope or “P” quotes the Charles and Max ‘inchident’ almost daily because of her friends from school.

a/n - so sorry for the delay. I had a hard time trying to navigate how I wanted this one to present! Not my best but I tried.

Max would sometimes pick up P from school when he was back in town as a little surprise for the girl, after all she was enthralled with the Dutch man, constantly calling him ‘Maxie’ neither of them paying much attention to the nickname. As P climbs into the backseat, Max begins to ask her how her day was, she begins to ramble on about her and some other kid playing some game during their downtime. What slips out of her mouth next has Max whipping his head to the rearview mirror. “He cheated and said he won so I said no it's just unfair” the brunette giggles out making eye contact with Max. The both of them were laughing for the rest of the drive back home.

Later that night Max starts to wonder where P would have even heard that or if she even knew what it meant to him. So he comes up with a plan, he would start to instigate a moment where she might say another line, and what do you know it ended up working, securing his suspicion. P playing Mario Kart with Max was what did it, after they crashed into each other she said looking at Max ``Don't worry Maxie it’s just an inchident, we can try again!”  He picked P up and laughed with her as he asked where she heard all of these quotes. To which she responds “My friend Veronica showed me a video of you and Charlie from like a super long time ago” Max laughing realizing that the clip must be around 12 years old now. 

A few weeks of hearing non-stop “Nothing just an inchident” or “He pushed me off the track” and even “no its just unfair” anytime she didn’t want to do something. Max would always just laugh with her and let her continue, because what’s the harm in having a good chuckle every now and then. When the time finally came where he grew tired of hearing the quotes he asked P for her opinion on the matter, she just laughed and said “just an inchident” and ran away as fast as she could before Max tickled her to death.

When finally seeing Charles after a week break Max is just about dying to tell him about the new quotes P came home saying. “Charles, do you have a minute?” asked Max hoping the Monegasque was free “Yeah, of course, what’s going on?” he asked. So there they were sitting in the Ferrari hospitality pissing themselves with laughter while exchanging their own thoughts of how the race went all those years ago. “Like I told you Max it was an incident” Charles manages to still fight. Giving up on the disagreement they decide to call it quits and get ready for a current race, Max’s phone dings with a message being passed on from P, “Make sure Charlie doesn’t push you off the track!” chuckling to himself he puts his phone away and gets ready to warm up for the race.

I’ve been struggling so bad to find skins of high quality and detail that are darker hues, or eye/nose masks that don’t lose detail the deeper the shade gets. I saw that you gave a resource list of skins a few years back when Nyanaath looked a lil different, so i wasn’t sure if there was anything relatively new that you used or not. I see the pores and details in Nyanaath’s skin and am just dying to know how to get like you lmaoo

First of all, Hiii and thank you! 😁💕Happy new year! Prepare for a bit of rambling but I link to some stuff in the end.

I want to start off saying that most of my sim pics are edited to some degree, especially previous pics from the past. I'm trying to rely less on editing to make my sims looks nice, but of course there is only so much you can do in a sims game.

This is an example of what Nyanaath's skin looks like unedited. EA lighting sucks ass and looks patchy in Sims 3 on dark colored objects in general and unfortunately, sims are not excluded. I end up smoothing the discoloration and patchiness with editing 😭

Before vs After

Skins as dark as Nena's have to be made dark from the start because using a pale/light based skin and trying to use an in-game slider to darken it never turns out good in any game. Dark skin reflects light and shadows differently than light skin and needs its own already-dark base.

I will seriously consider trying to throw together a skinblend for male and female skins that are dark like this because I truly think there are none. BUUUUT LOL rambling aside I do have new recommendations for makeup and skin details since that post:

1. First up is @sourlemonsimblr for makeup. Especially for eyebrows and lipsticks! A lot of their lipsticks are insanely detailed and recolorable enough that they can fit most darker tones. Their skins are lovely too and they've even recently made a dark skin which I will💗Link Here💗. I haven't gotten a chance to play with it yet but they always have quality stuff. Take a stroll through their Downloads page because it's definitely worth it. 2. Next up for skin detail makeups is @smallsimmer. They have so many good nose makes and eye/lip details that can be recolored to use on your darker skinned sims! If you ever had a skin you really liked and wanted to switch up the nose, eyes or lips, their skin detail makeup will absolutely come in clutch. They even have a few converted for child and toddler sims (something ts3 is lacking in)💗Link Here💗 3. If you want some AF skins for darker sims that are readily available and detailed, I'd suggest @annoyinglydarkblaze I learned a lot about making skins from watching their journey into skin making a few years ago. Since they aren't as active anymore and their posts are a bit scattered I will link the skins I like best: 💗Here💗 💗Here💗 and 💗Here💗 4. My next pick for more masculine/male-centered CAS makeup and CC is @nectar-cellar Their cc has been helpful as I slowly update my male OCs. The Beards/detail makeup torso muscled-torso meshes and clothing are some of the best. 5. I also suggest @simtanico for sliders and their detail makeup. I have just about every slider they've created 😂They also make really well done maxis-match kinda styled clothes for male sims too.

I'm sure there are tons of other people I'm missing but its been a minute since I've been around simblr myself so I'll try to update this list as I go.

I'll also leave you with a little tip: Do NOT be afraid to use the opacity slider and layering with makeup on darker sims. Layering and opacity is your friend!

A million times yes to Seb and Mark basically parent trapping Jenson and Nico. Seb convinces Nico to come on a girls trip with her, Max and Kev, and she's not afraid to use Max's excited rambling about how she's never been on a girls trip before to guilt Nico into agreeing. Meanwhile Mark basically just tells Jenson that they have a flight booked for two hours time and to have a shower because he is not sitting on a plane next Jenson smelling like booze and misery and Jenson is too shocked to properly protest as Mark bundles him into the plane and then into a hotel on the other side of the world.

It takes a few days for Seb and Mark to properly coordinate their plan, as Nico is actually semi enjoying the hiking and surfing activities that Kev and Max wants to do, and it takes Seb faking a twisted ankle and begging Nico to sit with her by the pool to get her to stay within the resort. Once she's in place, Mark and Jenson casually head past. Jenson spots her right away and tries to turn back only to crash into a waiter, a drinks table, Mark, and then the floor. Nico looks up from her sunbed, and obviously recognises the crumpled heap of man on the floor. She rushes to help him up and sits him down so she can look at the graze on his knee.

Jenson barely breathes when she's treating it. He loves looking at her as she concentrates, her nose scrunched up and eyebrows furrowed. She's so gentle and precise in her movements, trying so hard not to cause him any more pain. When they look up, Seb and Mark are gone, and they realise that they've been had. They should be annoyed with their friends but they can't bring themselves to be, because now that they're together again, neither one of them wants to let go. They agree to do dinner, and the girls all help Nico get ready for her date, making sure that she's got the right amount of cleavage on show and her hair is in perfect beachy waves.

Before they go into the restaurant, Mark and Seb give Jenson and Nico the exact same advice: "remember, he/she is your soulmate".

Plsss!! Seb ofc tells the other two about her and Mark's plan, but Kev is just vibing getting to go on holiday and Max is PURE excitement because she has never been on a girls trip before and she is all giddy and brings way too much stuff kssk. Nico is still sad and tired but Max's enthusiasm is so cute and she let's herself be dragged along, braiding Max's hair for her in the plane and doing her make up cos Max says she wants to have cute girl pics ans needs to look perfect! It gives Nico smthn to do which is nice, qnd Kev keeps feeding her snacks and Seb is her goofy weird self flirting with everything eith a heart beat and Nico just feels so at home with them and dares to relax!

The resort is beautiful and the girls have the biggest suite where Nico shares a bed with Maxy while Kev and Seb are definitely not plotting their mission in the other room.

Jenson meanwhile being given little notice before Mark drags him to the airport, jenson showers while Mark shoves random stuff for him in a suitcase and off rhey go to the resort to, maybe meeting Lewis and Dan there? Boys week lol!!

It takes a while to coordinate the meeting cos Max and Kev want to go hiking and surfing and snorkeling and surprisingly Nico is quite eager to join to empty her head. Seb has to fake a hurt ankle and pouting that she doesn't want to stay alone, so Nico agrees to a day at the pool just tanning and drinking cocktails (and beating Seb at card games).

Mark and the guys managing to get a very uncharacteristically quiet Jenson to join for pool time too. Jenson spotting Nico and just wanting to flee right away, but runs into a water, a sunbed, Mark, and then the floor lol. Nico rushing over and worriedly fussing over Jenson as if his slightly scraped knee is a war wound lol. She cleans it carefully while Jenson just regards her quietly, looking at her slight focused frown and her tongue always peeping out between her pink lips in focus and he missed her so fucking much... nico looking up and both blush at the eye contact and look away, but find the others have deserted them.

Jenson softly asking Nico to join for dinner and she agrees, shyly answering that they have a lot to catch up on. Jenson kissing Nico's cheek as she goes to get ready and Nico can't help but smile as if she fell in love all over again.

She does frown a little at the girls foe keeping it a secret but also needs their help to get ready. It's maxs turn to do Nico's hair for once and Kev carefully inspects every dress Nico brought to pick the right one (Seb doesn't have the right cleavage opinion, Kev thinks). Meanwhile Seb is just sitting with Nico and holding her hand because she can see Nico is so anxious about this! (Also Leais slipping into the suite to help eith the outfit and to give Nico a hug because yes the season was hard but she is still his best friend!)

And pls both Seb and Mark reminding Jenson and Nico that the other is their soulmate PLSSSS the feels!!!

Nico and Jenson talking for hours and it's so nice and easy. They also manage to talk about the fight and the emotions and pls they get back together ofc!

(Also ends up with nico and Jenson getting the girls suite for the night lol for some privacy. And the 3 others gotta share with the boys now ksksk)

Unessential details about the original AF mesh for those who have time to read my rambles:

• I don't know where it's from (just the shoes are Semller's Adidas Superstar sneakers) but I don't think that mesh was made specifically for these recolors because the waist didn't match the Maxis AF waist. I believe it was meant as a single-piece dress. I made the executive decision to edit it to match the AF waist exactly, to better suit the bare mid-section we have going on here. • Again, I don't know who made this mesh, but for some reason, there are full feet inside the shoes (maybe the delete key wasn’t working that day idk) and it's all merged in a single near-inextricable group. You can't see it at all in game. Obviously I did try to shoeswap with clean Adidas Superstars but the mapping didn’t match at all, maybe these shoes have been converted twice with different mappings, idk I gave up. But the presence of those feet that I did not hate myself enough today to try and delete vertice by vertice means that the polycount is a bit inflated compared to how it should be ideally, nothing major though. • As I said, for some reason everything is merged in a single group, which may explain the sneakers' mapping (they had to fit somehow). But even if the sneakers did roughly fit, they still bled onto the fingers a little, and more egregiously for the weed recolor only, bled along a leg (that recolor cannot have been tested like what are we doing). I deleted those extra bits of textures so that won't be an issue anymore. • The skirt would clip with the back of the thighs during the walking animation, that's now fixed.

hi please infodump about Don't Starve Together please

[Let's try that draft again since it decided it wanted to crash. Twice now.]

OKAY SO THIS BITCH

IS A FUCKING IDIOT.

Putting the ramble under a cut because this is about to be long. The LORE of DST, as far as I am aware at this current moment in time:

The previously mentioned idiot, Maxwell, might be better called William Carter. I think Maxwell was a pretentious as fuck name to go with and that he could've done better. Anyways.

William Carter is a nervous, anxious wreck of a man, weak of body and fairly fragile in all honesty, who sailed to America from England in the early 1900s. He was trying to make his way as a magician, but it's very clear he wasn't very good to start. He was in debt and struggling. In 1904, he received a message from his brother, Jack, which seemed to suggest he should visit his young nieces, Abigail and Wendy Carter. More on them later!

William does, indeed, set out from New York to California to visit Jack, but is waylaid when the train he is on crashes in Nevada at the Old Mill Crossing. This crossing has had quite a few crashes in its time, rising to three with this latest, and it's only been about 30 years if my memory isn't mistaken.

The train crashes into a traveling circus who was crossing over the railroad when their elephant cart got stuck. In the crash, William ends up pinned under the rail car. The strongman of the circus -- Wolfgang -- attempts to lift the rail car up to help William escape. Wolfgang isn't actually all that strong (the circus was actually run out of their previous town due to Wolfgang's failure to truly lift the elephant without mechanical assistance), but suddenly he gains an obscene -- one could say... magical -- amount of strength.

In actuality, the book William was holding (known as the Codex Umbra) summoned shadow beings to imbue Wolfgang with strength. After the strongman hurls the rail car away, the strength fades, and the shadows return to the book. Terrified at the prospect of his secret being discovered, William takes the book and runs into the Nevada desert. A search party is formed to find him, but he is presumed dead.

However, William sends his brother, Jack, a letter to inform him that he is, in fact, alive, and has discovered a book that provides "terrifying possibilities" for his future -- and that he won't say more, just in case.

See, this is the part where anyone in their right mind would at least talk to their brother, right? Like. It seems like they have a fairly good relationship? But nope, William just. Fucks right off with his Very Clearly Dark Magic. The goddamn book you have is literally called the Shadow Code. Like buddy. Pal. That's some shady shit right there.

Instead, this fucking moron, instead of even just visiting his nieces for some quality, "Hey, I didn't fucking die, what a miracle" bonding, goes to California and starts a new magic show under a new name. Now I have to HOPE he visited Jack, but based on the dialogue in the game, he doesn't. So he takes the time to go to California and doesn't even bother to visit his family.

He's a massive dick!

So he starts a new magic show under a new name -- Maxwell -- and starts staying at one of the most expensive hotels in the area. He puts out an advertisement in 1905 for a female assistant for the show, which also costs quite a bit of money. Reminder, this man is now doing debt evasion.

Enter Charlie.

Charlie is Maxwell the Great's new assistant. It's clear she is in love with him; she refers to him as Maxy, signs off with a heart next to her name, and clearly dedicates a lot of time to the show. Maxwell, in turn, is studying the Codex Umbra with more and more... well, obsessive tendencies. It's clear he's scared of the shadow beings he's summoning and seeing, but he's also making bank with this new magic show. He and Charlie are pulling in larger audiences now.

Maxwell grows more and more distant -- and more and more insane. The Codex Umbra drains people of their sanity. He has a hidden room behind the fireplace where he starts scrawling on the walls. In an effort to understand why Max is growing so distant, Charlie investigates his home, only to eventually find the hidden study room. She runs in fright and leaves him a letter, revealing that she hasn't seen him in days. She suggests that, after that night's act, they get away for awhile, staying in the cabin her sister has offered to them.

Unfortunately, they don't get the chance.

That night, at their performance, Maxwell loses control of the shadow beings, and they reach out of the Codex Umbra and grab both him and Charlie. They're dragged into the book.

Fun fact: this sparks the Mother Fucking 1906 San Fransisco Earthquakes. Or, at least, this universe's version of them. Fucking nearly Magnitude 8 earthquake, all caused by some dude's need to be the coolest guy in the room. You could've had a hot date in a cabin with a cute girl, but noooo, you just had to pick up the scary magic book!

Anyways. Charlie and Maxwell now find themselves in the Constant, a world filled with otherworldly beings, and the same place where he's been calling shadow beings out of.

Now, the Constant is interesting. There seems to have been an ancient civilization there at one point, primarily living in the vast caves systems underground. Most notably, their civilization was seemingly destroyed after a reliance on Nightmare Fuel, which came from the shadow beasts. My personal theory is that they summoned the Fuelweaver, who has some very interesting things to say about the "threads" of the world. It also seems they worshiped the moon, which they called Alter.

Maxwell and Charlie find themselves in the Constant, and something... changes about the two of them. It's uncertain what happens. Charlie becomes the Night Monster -- a shadow being herself, with the ability to snuff out light with her shadow claws. Meanwhile, Maxwell ascends the Nightmare Throne, becoming the "king" of the Constant. This allows him to build and shape the world in his own design.

Time moves differently in the Constant, but years pass with Maxwell on the throne. During this time, Maxwell reaches back into the real world repeatedly to bring more people to the Constant. His reasoning for this is unknown, but it's clear he considers this to be some sort of chess game, and these people to be the pieces. Interestingly, a lot of different things happen during this time, and the timeline is a bit... hazy.

IN THE MEANTIME. There's this fellow named Wagstaff. And Wagstaff... is an asshole.

In the middle of Maxwell's final performance, Wagstaff is driving home from who knows where, and hears screaming in the theater, which sets off numerous earthquakes. He runs in, robs the people who are running for their lives, and then lets a man get crushed to death in order to save the camera he'd been operating. ... Dude. That's cold.

He ends up playing the reel of film, witnessing the events of the catastrophe and Maxwell being pulled into the Constant. But then, the reel shifts, and Wagstaff sees the Constant.

Needless to say, he loves it. It's clear that, at this point, Wagstaff starts trying to find a way to get into the Constant. Now, WAGSTAFF IS CONFUSING, because he's a playable character in Don't Starve, but not in the sequel game, and in the sequel, it seems like he's... not stuck in the Constant like everyone else? Essentially, Wagstaff seems to be projecting himself onto the constant, and never actually enters.

And yet, despite that:

Wagstaff creates the Voxala Radio, which is fucky wucky!

He creates a portal and is sucked into said portal, which destroys the Voxola factory.

Wagstaff gives a man a spider from the Constant, so he clearly is able to access it?

The character Wilson lives in what is implied to be Wagstaff's home, meaning Wagstaff isn't there. But...

Wagstaff later projects himself into the Constant to help with the Celestial Rifts?? Which would only make sense to be doing from a currently active portal, which would be Wilsons?

Anyways, Wagstaff makes no sense.

That brings me to the Survivors! Which is ALSO confusing and the timeline doesn't make any sense!

So, on one hand, Maxwell strikes deals with numerous people to bring them to the constant, or else just straight up drags them in himself. However, at that same time, Wilson makes a deal with Maxwell. Now, this is said by the Wiki to be happening in 1921. However, Wagstaff's Voxola factory burnt down in 1919, at which time, Winona was dragged into the Constant (I'll mention that a bit later). However, Wilson supposedly enters the constant before Winona does. So...

My theory is, the Grabbing Of The Survivor and the Appearance Of The Survivor happen on entirely different timetables, and Winona was just stuck in the void for a long while. Or, maybe, the Constant is doing some Fucky Wucky with the timeline. Or maybe, the Don't Starve (OG Game) characters were all pulled at various times, and the survivors of Don't Starve Together (sequel) only meet later after -- well, events happen, Charlie's involved, it's a whole thing.

Who knows. Klei clean up your lore.

ANYWAYS.

Rapid Fire real fast for other important members of the Survivors, the ones who were grabbed by Maxwell before Wilson.

Wigfrid. Maxwell appears to her one night when she is reliving her glory days as a star of the stage with musical talents. Maxwell promises to make her a star again, and she agrees to his deal.

Wes. Maxwell attempts to capture his old debtor, the one who tried to collect on his debts while he was still known as William. However, an unfortunate mime named Wes takes the debtor's place unintentionally.

Webber. A boy, whose name is unknown, is very sweet and kind. His dad clearly works closely with Wagstaff, who gives this guy a Mysterious Thing:tm: that the dad seems super obsessed with. The boy is jealous, gets upset, and finally is Bad:tm: and breaks the thing his dad is obsessed with. Turns out, it's a cage, and inside the cage was a spider from the Constant. The spider attacks the boy, uh. FUSES WITH HIM? And his parents run him out of the house because Weird Spider Creature, Aaah. I have no idea how Webber ends up in the Constant. Magic????

Wickerbottom. She's a librarian in New York who's been looking into shadow magic. Someone (cough Willow cough) sets fire to her library. Shadow Maxwell emerges to suggest she save the knowledge of the library, and then pulls her into the constant with all that she knows.

Willow. Everyone's favorite little arsonist sets fire to an orphanage! How fun. It's to kill her abusive caretakers tho, so it's fine. She also absolutely set fire to Wickerbottom's library. It's uncertain how Willow ends up in the Constant -- however, Willow also clearly has been touched by the Constant prior to entering, as she sees the Shadow Beasts as a child.

Winona. A hard working gal at the Voxola factory, when the fire happens, she makes sure others get out before she goes to investigate. She sees Wagstaff get sucked into the portal he created. So, she repairs the portal in an effort to get him back, only to see her long lost sister, Charlie, through the portal. Oh yeah, she's the one who offered for Charlie and Maxwell to borrow the family cabin as a getaway. Huh. Anyways, Charlie turns into the Night Monster version and grabs her and pulls her in.

Woodie. We know next to nothing about him. Going based on Walter's voicelines, Woodie is a Canadian logger who picked up a cursed axe and turns into a Beaver at the full moon. He's Catholic, allergic to grass, and based on Walter's introduction, it seems like Woodie was brought to the Constant via a Voxola similar to... well.

Wolfgang. The strongman. No idea how he ended up in the Constant.

Wendy. Yeah, that Wendy. Wendy Carter, Maxwell's niece. Her sister died. She started hearing music after Abigail's death, so... Maybe something to do with the familial connection to Maxwell?

WX-78. They used to be an assistant of Wagstaff's, human and all. However, they built themselves a robot body and transferred their consciousness to WX-78, a robotic form. They then kept building more robots, Wagstaff got salty, and destroyed them all. Then he somehow sent WX to the Constant.

Warly. IDK Fam, the Radio more than likely for him as well, but we know so little about him beyond he's really nice to his mom who has dementia.

Wanda. IDK Fam. Time travel broke reality.

Walter. MY BABYYYY-- anyways he gets stuck in the same trap Woodie did, like genuinely. It's literally Woodie's house. He also is not aware that he's in the Constant????

ANYWAYSSSSSSSSSS-

Let's focus on Wilson.

Wilson is a... sort of scientist. Nevermind the fact that he 100% set fire to his old university's chemistry lab. No way, no how, he set off to be his own scientist for his own reasons, that large bill chasing him is absolutely not the reason why.

Anyways, he now lives in this old, decrepit house with a fucking skeleton in it, why did you not report that to the police- Anyways, he tries to do a bunch of experiments and... fails miserably, honestly, it's kinda painful. Until suddenly, the Old Radio that he found hidden behind a locked part of the wall starts talking to him and is like "Ayyyyyy wanna make a deal with me?" And Wilson, like a fucking idiot, agrees.

Don't Starve Together is filled with fucking idiots.

Wilson agrees, builds a portal, and Beep Boop Yep fucking Constant for you BITCH.

THE CONSTANT ERA (aka this is where the original game fucking starts what the shit all of that was backstory and extra shit-)

So, none of the survivors have. Actually met each other in the Constant. After all, the multiplayer sequel hasn't been released yet! But Wilson is resourceful (and also like. The main guy you're meant to play as.) And he's going to survive, goddamn it! And he does, for a long while, though he does repeatedly die. Maxwell brings him back to life, taunts him a little bit, etc.

So, he goes through a few challenges and does his best to beat Maxwell's little games and things. And he... actually manages it?? I mean, canon ending of Don't Starve is "Player Win."

And yeah, turns out, Maxwell has been trapped on the Nightmare Throne for years. Hes' been listening to shitty gramophone music on loop. Wilson has to free him, at which point, Maxwell disintegrates, becomes a survivor (who I think gets called WAXWELL which... is so dumb) and Wilson takes the Nightmare Throne instead. It's like. Cyclical.

BUT THEN.

Charlie Don't Starve shows up.

She frees Wilson and yeets him back to the Constant, then she has a little DID moment (why the fuck does all the media I consume include plural-coded people, I don't do this on purpose), so the Charlie Good(TM) part of her and the Night Monster Bad(TM) part of her fuse into The Charlie Evil(?)(TM) version. And that version of Charlie takes over the Throne. Notably, I'm less certain if Charlie is bound to the throne like the others were, as she's seen walking around the Constant repeatedly.

At which point, Maxwell and Wilson run into each other and are like.

M: I am very sad and deserve all of the pain and suffering in the- W: Woah, cool, are you trying to make a portal out of here? COOL LET'S DO IT TOGETHER BUDDY OL' PAL. M: ..... I see. The torture continues.

(Genuinely Wilson doesn't like... like him but doesn't mind him. Maxwell just tolerates everyone.)

So they make a jury-rigged portal (literally called this in the game, I love it) which allows other players to cross into the Constant. However, Charlie immediately fucks with it and turns it into the Florid Postern which... Is super cute honestly? Charlie has a whole Stage Show theme going on in the world and everything is roses and white porcelain, which is a super interesting vibe. Slay, queen.

At this point in time, a bunch of the Don't Starve survivors come through the Postern. That would be Willow, WX, Wolfgang, Wendy, Wickerbottom, Woodie, Wes, Wigfrid, Webber, and Warly. We also have such lovely characters as:

Wormwood. My partner's main! He's a little flower guy who was born of a Moon Gem falling on some plants or some shit. He's BABY and he SMOTHERS HIMSELF IN SHIT TO HEAL. What's not to love?

Wortox. He is a prankster who just wants people to feel better about things I love him.

Wurt. BABY???? PRINCESS?????? I love her.

Wonkey. I have no idea anything bout this character and genuinely just think that this is just an April Fools thing???

SO ANYWAYS. AGAIN.

We get into the main Don't Starve Together gameplay, which has canonical lore. Which. You gave your multiplayer game a storyline involving characters that cannot be played in the storyline together with the limited--- OKAY okay also they made a musical at one point to commemorate DST, just throwing that out there, it's kinda funny.

So, the survivors work together and clearly survive for awhile together. There's definitely some animosity with Maxwell, but he's one of them now. At some point, however, I'm not sure where in the timeline this happens, but it's clear Maxwell is working with Charlie again. He has a bit of a dream sequence with her where she asks if he would like to be her partner again, and when he gets out of the dream sequence, his flower on his lapel is doing something a Little Odd? Soooo I think they're working together. BUT REGARDLESS.

The survivors decide to take down ANCIENT FUCKING FUELWEAVER TOGETHER.

(I tried to find a cool gif of Anicent Fuelweaver but tumblr's gif system sucks, so. Imagine a fuck all demon from the depths of hell who destroyed entire civilizations rising from the ground saying "Your world will be unraveled." TERRIFYING. Your honor I love him.)

And they... almost manage it. Which, stunning for a ragtag group of random ass people. Charlie swoops in to save Fuelweaver, which destabilizes the Ancient Gateway. However, they still make plans to fix it up.

At this point WINONA shows up in the Constant. Like I said, timeline do be fucky. I wonder how much Maxwell hates her because how she looks a little like Charlie. I wonder how much Winona knows about him.

At this point, Wickerbottom gets the Gateway started, which uuuuh sends the characters to various Events:tm: that aren't as big anymore (The Forge, the Gorge, etc). I think you can still do these events but they're not like. A highlight of the game. I wasn't around for the game when they were implemented. Regardless, they fight, they make food, they be merry. Then, when they return to the constant, a piece of the MOON FALLS OFF? Like it just falls straight into the ocean. So they row over to find an entire island made of Moon.

Now Walter enters the Constant! Again he has. No idea he's not in the real world. I love him. (He kinda does. But like. Baby.)

So Walter is vibing, chatting with other survivors. Meanwhile, there's a concurrent storyline of Winona, Wilson, and Maxwell exploring the moon shard caves, where they stick an iridescent Gem into the ruined whatever it is to power it. To those who know the games, this is the Ancient Archives, a very dangerous place in the cave systems that reveals knowledge to the players or whatever. IDK I literally just started playing in caves a few weeks ago lmao.

Activating the Ancient Archives also activates a whole bunch of sentries, forcing them to flee. Maxwell clearly recognizes whatever this place is, but that's not explained. Also, WInona catches a glimpse of Charlie, and Maxwell pulls her away so that they don't get caught up in the fighting/earthquakes.

After this, Charlie is seen taking some kind of evil shadow torch (called the Tragic Torch, apparently) to the Lunar Island, and she sucks up a bunch of little guys called Gestalt into it. She looks up to the sky with the now burning torch, looks at the moon, and oh yeah turns out the Moon is actually some sort of huge eye. Like looks like the ancient civilization was right, the Moon is something called Alter and it's a whole thing.

The Survivors band together to complete three Lunar Altars on the island, releasing some mysterious celestial energy that promptly makes everything FUCKING WILD. A Lunar Storm starts up, taking over whole swaths of the world they're in. The Moon reveals itself to be Alter, the Eye, and is clearly upset at the Survivors. During the storm, the survivors meet the projection of Wagstaff -- yeah, that fucker is back -- who requests their help for collecting electricity and energy from this area to study. They... do (wrong choice bad choice don't listen to the fucking evil scientist) and lo' and behold, this angers Alter, and it triggers the Celestial Champion to come down and destroy the device.

Meanwhile, Charlie seems to be in the Archives during this with some shadow beasts, and it seems like she's hurrying to do something?

And......

No, really, that's all that we have of the storyline so far!!! Which is an INFURIATING place to leave off. Personally, I'm of the theory that once Klei is done the skill trees, they're going to be doing something with the Ancient Portal setpiece in the archives that currently doesn't have anything happening with it? I'm wondering what happens if you combine Nightmare Fuel and Celestial stuff together.

Almost doesn't even look like I used the same sim 😅 I also ended up making this way too long so I put all the cc and ramblings under the cut!

Heiðr Eyes - @eirflower These default eyes are so pretty and I have used them for quite a while now.

Eyelashes - @kijiko-sims I have tried other eyelashes before but I feel like none ever come close to these!

Eyebrows - @stretchskeleton | Updated Brows - @whoismae The ones used below are Eyebrows #2. I also use eyebrows by @twisted-cat or just EA ones.

Makeup:

Most of the makeup I use is by @crypticsim along with some other must haves. Here are some of my favorites!

Homecoming Eyeshadow | Default Eyeshadow + Beer Eyeliner | Passionfruit Liner | May 15th Eyeliner + Bride Lipstick | Celeste Lipstick

Subtle Blush - @tragicsimblr This is basically the only blush I use since I don't usually like how blush looks (on my self and my sims lol) and I only just want something that is well, subtle!

Highlighter - @litttlecakes My all time favorite! I only use this or the in game highlighter. I used it for the look on the right.

All the makeup I mentioned above is showcased on the below :)

Hair:

Most of the hairs I use are by @aharris00britney because I feel like his hairs work well together as in making your sim look like they have the same cut of hair just styled differently if that makes sense? I didn't really showcase it here but for example, you can find many hairs with similar length and bangs to work well together for different outfits for your sim. Anyways, the hairs I used here were the Marie Hair and Jules Hair

Jewelry:

I have lots of different jewelry in my game but here are the ones that stay in my game after doing a cc clean out.

Plumbob Jewelry Set - @kumikya I love all the jewelry from this creator! I always use the plumbob earrings at least once on a sim's outfit since they are very simple but oh so cute.

BG Necklaces Overrides - maushasims I use the standalone version of these necklaces and I have them all since they work well with most outfits.

Double Pierce Earrings - @blogsimplesimmer I think you can tell by now that I like simple jewelry 😅

Double Choker - Loverettsims This choker is such a staple piece! I think mostly everyone has had this in their game at some point but I love it so much and I love chokers so this is a must have for me

Pearl & Diamond Necklace - @batsfromwesteros I didn't use this necklace below but it is an honorable mention since it has become a recent favorite! I love nice pearl necklaces and this one looks amazing on all sims!

Shoes:

Anton Shoes Highcut & Lowcut - liliili-sims I used the highcuts below but I absolutely love both versions! I love the maxis match look of these and they look similar to converse shoes (which I also love) so these are usually my go to for sneakers

Leather Sandals V04 - @jius-sims This creator makes tons of nice shoes and I have quite of bit of them in my cc folder :)

I also wanted to mention @dallasgirl79. I use a lot of her shoes in game. I just didn't showcase any here. Evelyn Sandals - Tied are by far my fave from this creator!

Clothes:

Lastly, I have loads of clothes cc. It is what I have the most of in my cc folder and from lots of different creators. The creators I have the most clothes from though are @trillyke and from the cc packs by @aharris00britney and @ayoshi.

Thank you so much for the tag, @goatskickin! :D I am ill rn, so please excuse the rambling. x) Long post ahead!

What’s your favorite Sims death? Maybe fright? I've only ever had it happen once via ghost, the anim is pretty funny. :)

Alpha CC or Maxis Match? My Simblr probably says otherwise, but I don’t have a preference! I’ve had nearly every possible CC style under the sun throughout my years of playing, and I constantly think about reviving my 'semi-realism' folder (living vicariously through you, other simmers!). I didn't play with CC until early 2006 though, so MM is a little bit more nostalgic. :)

Do you cheat your sims weight? Hell no! I'm still in awe of Nysha's townie body diversity mod finally letting townies be fat. :D I wish the game had a better way of managing bodyshapes so I could add more variety that way.

Do you move objects? Of course!

Favorite Mod? Of all time? Impossible! My continued interest in gameplay is always because of new mods. :)

I did gain a new outlook thanks to a mod recently, though! My wild romance sim Blaze Biermann ended up 'mood swinging' to fortune before he went to uni, and instead of reverting, it got stuck.

He had a few flings still (pleasure secondary), but after he returned home and met his daughter (for the first time since her birth), he started cringing whenever I directed him to romance his dates. It felt like he had grown as a person, and I loved it!

Who’s your favorite sim that you’ve made? I don't usually get very attached to my first-generation sims, but maybe Evonne Milos, from the gameplay/story hood I accidentally destroyed in four days? Never actually played her, but I had a lot of ideas for a corrupt 'sexpot' politician. x)

Have you made a simself? Lots! 99% of the fun I had playing TS2 as a kid was me and my best friend making ourselves and our respective crushes of the week, and we'd always live in one of those Veronaville lots that was two houses connected by a balcony. I can't even tell you the amount of times she got me pregnant against my wishes whilst I went to the bathroom, lmao.

Which is your favorite EA hair color? For colour consistency, probably brown? But there are a lot of brunettes in Brunwick (must be the name!), so I enjoy the recessives popping up in gameplay. :)

Favorite life stage? Ohhh dude, that's so difficult to answer. They all bring different challenges and dynamics to the household! I feel like I've started to appreciate the child lifestage more since Brunwick has grown large enough to have multiple friendship groups. It's fun watching them goof around with each other and be actual kids, instead of sitting indoors skilling. I really need to build a park! :)

Are you a CC creator? Yes, I really love how this game has led me to so many creative hobbies! Would like to tackle BHAVs one day. :)

How has your “Sims style” changed throughout your years of playing? I sadly don't have screenshots of my oldest saves thanks to a combo of no external HD and no screenshot program, but here's one example:

But gameplay-wise, a lot! My early years were probably based around creating stories more than actively playing, but when I did I would just emulate perfect families, attempt legacies, and restart BG hoods over and over. x)

Now I'm all about wants-based gameplay; witnessing and interpreting a story, as opposed to creating one from scratch. But I will add drama if I find my interest waning! x)

Who’s your favorite CC creator? Again, super-duper impossible to answer because everyone's CC makes the game fun, but my most recent CC shopping spree was Honeywell and HugeLunatic! :) 🛒

How long have you had Simblr? Technically 2011, officially 2013, but if we're being pedantic, I finally made a dedicated Simblr (this) in 2016. x)

How do you edit your pictures? These days, just sharpen and shrink! CC previews aren't too complicated either- a blurred out screenshot for the BG and a shadow.

What expansion/gamepack is your favorite? Ooh… maybe Nightlife, by a smidgen? I feel like it gave us a lot of new features and items, and the subhood was nice (as a non-builder at the time!).

Did Jean Glam's ride to Studio Town never arrive no matter how many times she called? That's fixed now! Her agent apologized to her profusely for the inconvenience.

This is a really tiny, but important update that fixes a missing car portal on 6 Brook Lane. Additionally, I checked all other built lots in Dandyville for any other missing car portals. None were missing, but some were facing the wrong direction (driving down the left lane!). I also moved some of them around to suit the layout of the lot better.

Install Instructions

Go to your The Sims folder (default location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\The Sims). You may need admin rights for the next steps!

Inside you will see a folder called "UserData8". Rename that folder to something like "UserData8backup".

Open Dandyville.zip and copy "UserData8" from the .zip-file into your The Sims folder.

Open the game and switch to Neighborhood 8. You did it!

Some more ramblings under the cut. (TL;DR: Taking a break from The Sims 1, next update -- if there'll be one -- probably won't be out for a while!)

Initially, I wanted to change a few more things with this update, but lately I've grown a tiny bit tired of The Sims 1 and the motivation just wasn't there. Well, maybe it would have been there if I hadn't installed The Sims 2 in the mean time... I forgot how damn addicting that game can be!

That means the next update might actually take a while. Though while I was playing The Sims 2 I was daydreaming about what a "25 years later" Dandyville could be like with all the new features The Sims 2 has to offer (no promises!!). Though I obviously want to finish Dandyville in The Sims 1 first. Nonetheless, I indulged a bit and recreated a few Sims. If you're curious, this is how Guinevere Beatnik's family tree might look like if she was in The Sims 2!

What was the last song you listened to?

Technically, the intro song to The Golden Girls because I watched an episode yesterday before bed haha.

Other than that, I genuinely can't remember -- it's been a while since I listened to music! We recently got a piano and I've been listening to a a lot less music as a result, because I've been making it myself instead :) (very very simple tunes, but hey, it's still fun!)

What’s your favorite decade? (from a fashion POV)

OH this is hard!! I think if I were to pick just one, it'd be the 1970s -- but that's because it allows me to cheat & sort of include two of my other favourite decades (the 1900s and 1940s) in the process, because a lot of 70s fashion was inspired by those :) (and I have a weakness for pointy collars, what can I say?)

Idk, what I love about the 70s is how many contradictions there are? On one hand you have sleek a-line skirts and fitted blouses. On the other you have frills and ruffles, (slight) bishop sleeves and flowy maxi dresses, and those opposites (and the combination of them) are just really fun to me! (I also grew up on a lot of 70s media so honestly, I think it's also partly nostalgia haha)

But I think my favourite fashion decade is actually the 1940s. I love the silhouette, which is still somewhat reminiscent of the elegance of the 1930s, but a little harder in a way. Slightly more practical in its skirt lengths (for obvious reasons), a little more masculine in its shape (which is a fascinating trend you see more often in fashion history, during big wars. Fashion during the 1910s actually turned a little more masculine in shape as well, at the time of WWI!).

I'll stop here because I could go on forever, but yeah!! The 1970s because it's a cheat move to include 2 of my other favourite decades (and it's a lot easier to find 70s clothes to wear myself!) and the 1940s because... well, I just like 40s fashion haha

In the very near future, I'm looking forward to visit my grandma for her birthday today :)

Honestly I don't tend to look more than a year or so into the future (and even that's a stretch at the moment haha) but I'm really looking forward to finishing school in 2,5 months!! It was only a year, but oh boy, was it a year. I'm mostly really excited to have more energy to be myself again, if that makes sense? I'll be able to do some more research for my writing projects (I've got a small stack of books waiting for me already), go thrift shopping, and see my friends again!! And my brain will also (hopefully) start function normally again lol. I'm really looking forward to being able to think at my natural speed again haha.

I just started a fic about Khianna and Angel being best friends and Angels older sister drops into town for a surprise visit, and she and Khi meet for the first time 🤭 also Khi is pretty blonde Barbie girl and Maxie is cool edgy gangster with a curly mullet (I am very excited about this fic concept I could ramble about it for hours)

🤗 What advice would you give to new fanfic writers that are just getting started?

Remember that you are doing this for fun and for the love of the game, the second it starts causing you distress and anxiety remember to take a step back and remind yourself why you fell in love with writing fic in the first place!!!!

God I feel like all my fics are kind of just the same 3-4 things slapped together in a different order 😭 I definitely have a lot of phrases and speech patterns that I fall into (I think the last 3-4 fics I’ve worked on someone has called their love interest a cunt oops) but uhhh yeah idk if I could point to specifics but at the same time I feel like it’s very obvious a fic was written by me even if my name isn’t attached bc I literally just write the same things in the same ways over and over again yknow
