I have to give loads of credits to @eggbreadboi and their wings!AU (which is just BREATHTAKEING) i was VERY heavily inspired so

i'll put other Options i thought of in […]; How i came to each decision of what bird (or well rather the wings specifically) i choose for each Driver is based on where they are from etc. to kind of have a better overview and to make it a little easier to come to a decision [i am very open to any other suggestions tho!!!] but also what I thought suited them, sometimes also just cus i thought the wings would look cute on them (lol) and the most important also like flying style wise

Are feathered friends better than human coworkers? Why not try out an Ornithology career for your sims! Once more requested by @catrillion, we wanted to work on something that incorporated a specific form of laws protecting animals, and came up with this.

This job is available for YA - Elder, and you can join via the Arboretum. Please note you will need to either play this in Moonlight Falls or save the Arboretum lot and place it in another neighbourhood for this to show up in game!

You will need to level Fishing, Science, and the hidden skill WildlifeFriend. This latter one maxes out at level 6. You can change and track this using MasterController, and the metrics in the job panel will update as you progress it.

No opportunities, uniforms, or books, and the lower levels will not have a carpool so make sure to send your sims to work manually!

Please note if you want to use this, you must have Nraas Careers installed for it to show up!

Maybe it’s time to spread your wings and look for a more interesting job?

Amateur Ornithologist - 15 sp/h, 10:00 - 16:00, M-F

Description: You’ve bid farewell to the checkout and instead set up camp in the local park, photographing birds for your local twitcher group on Sims Social. The pay is chickenfeed (unless you photograph Mothman himself) but your online friends might know where you might find something that pays more of the bills…

Park Volunteer - 20 sp/h, 09:00 - 17:00, W,T,F,S,U

Description: Now this is certainly better than the supermarket! The pay is still terrible but you get to spend your time outdoors at your local wildlife park – and most importantly, with your avian associates. Clean out their pens, guide lost tourists, and do a coffee run or three; you might make enough friends to get a little higher on the perch.

Conservation Education Guide - 40 sp/h, 09:00 - 18:00, W,T,F,S,U

Description: Despite their awkward reputation, ornithologists are a chatty lot when it comes to their favourite subject. The general public don’t tend to know a lot about birds, muddling up their crows and their ravens, and think that leaving out generic birdseed is just as good as black sunflower seeds, raisins, and tasty mealworms. Give them a lecture to remember – oh, and try to shill the organic bird food in the gift shop.

Description: You’ve finally got your hat but it looks like you’ll be wearing a lot of them; being a park ranger means dealing with the public too. Description: You’re deep in the science side of ornithology now; working with local farmers to make sure their food production methods are environmentally friendly, reducing the impact of climate change, and ensuring that important ecosystems thrive and flourish. You’ll also get the chance to pitch sites for new developments and green spaces – so if you want a Birdie Bistro & Bar serving Band Slams & Baked Angel Food Cake, now’s your chance!

Ecologist - 150 sp/h, 09:00 - 17:00, M,W F

Description: You’re out of the suburbs and into the woods – time to be a consultant! You’ll be travelling all over SimNation to various sites and places that have the potential to become the latest havens for your bird friends, writing up surveys and reports to convince the mayor of Barnacle Bay perhaps they can build their luxury flats somewhere else and not disturb the local condor population. Ecological assessment work might not sound the most interesting on paper, but it’s hugely important to make sure you’re protecting birds for generations to come – children and eggs alike.

Amanda beloved I am OBSESSED with how scrungtungly Lando looks this week. His summer tan is perfect and it reminds me that he spent like 3 weeks with his shirt off around Max Fewtrell and in my mind palace they DID put sun screen all over each other's back. But also I love this cockatoo hair he has going on like I've been rotating this picture in my head all day he's a fresh turnip that was plucked out of an evil witch's garden and turned sentient and I need to turn turnip lando into a jellycat so I can carry him around with me

The Red Peafowl trailer is out! 👀

Some reactions–

Heavily Sino-Thai, emphasis on the Sino part. Some shots of Shanghai and street scenes that look like they might have been filmed in China/Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Que is not actually a reference to Hong Kong (unless there's more they've not shown) – it's the hanyu pinyin transcription of Red Peafowl in Mandarin, where hong (红) means red and kongque (孔雀) means peacock or peafowl. The words for Hong Kong are totally different (香港 or xianggang).

Lu Yi Peng is played by Maiake Kandis, and it seems he's an inspector skilled in martial arts who goes undercover to infiltrate the mafia headed by Red Peafowl, played by Dollar Patchara. And of course the two get romantically and sexually entangled.

Max Nattapol plays Red Peafowl's husky lover/seducer, sounding like he has a case of COVID.

Earth Katsammonat is protagonist Lu Yi Peng's brother, who is kidnapped by a shadowy someone who sounds like (but doesn't look like) Max.

There are hawks and hawkshead rings on shadowy figures in this, looking to take down Red Peafowl's gang.

Frank Thanatsaran looks totally different from how he did while with GMMTV.

Boun Noppanut, Lee Long Shi, and Mek Jirakit are part of Red Peafowl's mafia family. Everything they say and do is performed with theatricality, as though to emphasize the sense of foreboding and import. Lots of arched eyebrows and drawling delivery.

Red Peafowl has a huge back tattoo, and guess what it's of? (Hint: it's a big bird, not white or yellow, and it's not a phoenix or a cockatoo.) Kinnporsche has a lot to answer for.

Hooped earrings on both ears appears to be a popular trend among the Chinese mafia.

The martial arts fight scenes look a little slow and klunky, like they need to be speeded up 10%.

Still no clue as to why there's a (sulphur-crested?) cockatoo in this.

Q: How did you find working with Sandra Hüller and Ronald Zehrfeld?

Max: Yes, it's really pleasant. I've been friends with Ronny for a long time. We've known each other since The Red Cockatoo (film) and not much has changed since then. It's always fun, it never gets boring. And I knew Sandra too, but we've never worked together. And yes, I have a lot of respect for her and her work and it was very, very pleasant. We played a lot of cards together. Like Cabo, that's a game I brought with me. And yes, we had a really good time. We also went to the outdoor pool, the swimming pool. That just shows how much we like each other and what a good time we had.

and if one can hide their wings, are there people without them? How are they treated?

Anon, you need to know that when I saw this ask, I immediately started chanting "LORE DUMP! LORE DUMP!" in my head. This serves as your warning.

First and foremost, let's go through the current cast of this AU. I've got a working list of every driver I've assigned a wing color to so far, though whether everyone actually gets mentioned is going to depend on how my plans unfold. A quick note that the only character I'm not including in this list is Martijn, since his wings are meant to be a surprise. For now, this list consists of only F1 drivers and a couple F1-adjacent characters. The cast may expand as I assign more wing colors.

Some have wings based on real birds, others don't. Those with real-bird wings have the species name listed, you can Google them if you're curious about their appearance.

Lando - pure white Max - Loggerhead shrike (the most aggressive shrike species in the world; they can take down prey significantly larger than themselves. Now, for hiding one's wings - I will admit that maybe what I've come up with isn't the most elegant solution. But once I got the idea of some wing colors being seen as "bad," I immediately thought, "what if someone chose to always keep their wings hidden to avoid being judged? How would they do that?" Then once I latched onto the idea, I came up with the plot of the first fic and realized that I needed to find a solution if I wanted to write this story. So then I figured, if I'm making a world where humans have wings, then I've already given up some of this story's realism, so it shouldn't be too unbelievable if I come up with a fantastical way to hide wings, too.

In this AU, there are special pendants people can wear that, when they come in contact with their skin, will hide someone's wings from view. They are still there, and will reappear when the pendant is removed, but as long as the pendant is on, the wings are not visible, the person can't use their wings for flight or any other purpose, nothing will interact physically with their wings, and it's essentially like they were never there at all. No one knows exactly how the pendants work, but the leading theory is that the ore they're made of emits some sort of energy or has some other property that interacts with the physical structure of wings, leading to them essentially disappearing. Scientists have studied this phenomenon for years and still haven't figured out what exactly is going on here (they also don't know why humans are the only primates who somehow ended up with wings. Basically, there are a lot of mysteries there. I don't currently plan to delve into the scientific or mystical aspects of this, since the main cast are all F1 drivers and not, like, professional scientists whose job is to research this, though who knows, maybe it'll still be touched on at some point)

People typically hide their wings for social or cultural norms, for tasks that would be easier to perform without them, or if they just want to walk around without their weight for a little bit. Sometimes, though, they're hidden for personal reasons. It's considered rude to just blatantly ask someone why their wings are hidden, especially during a first meeting, though if you've known someone for a while, it's generally expected that you'll show your wings to them eventually, and it's considered odd if you don't. Choosing to hide them completely from everyone it very unusual, and is often a tricky subject for others to navigate, as the reasons for doing so are usually very personal. Some people who choose to do this hide their wings because they're embarrassed or ashamed about their appearance, be that due to their color or species, or due to injury or damage. Others choose to hide them because they're disabled and can only barely fly, or are completely unable to.

There are sometimes people who are born without the ability to fly, though it's far more more common for them to have disabled wings rather than no wings at all. Being flightless is considered a major disability, and while they can still lead perfectly normal lives, there will be some activities that they simply can't do. The treatment of flightless/wingless people varies a lot throughout the world, with most places giving them aid or assistance in areas that they might struggle in (namely alternative travel options for those who can't fly on their own, or therapy or enrichment services for those who struggle psychologically with it), though some places are a lot better than others, and some people do look on them with judgment or scorn. There are some places where the flightless are seen as second-class citizens no matter what they do, and some people see them as "lesser" than them, while other look at them with pity. It really varies from area to area, though I'm happy to say that in this day and age, more and more people are treating the flightless with kindness, acceptance, and equality. Some flightless people, if they have any wings, will wear them with quiet strength, but many choose to just use pendants to hide them, since they can't be used anyway.

For those with minor disabilities who want to try and use their wings as normally as possible, there are options for prosthetics. Depending on their purpose, some prosthetics, such as a few fake feathers or a false joint, can allow a person to fly, while others, like a large swathe of fake feathers or an entire fake section of a limb, can fix a wing's physical appearance but won't allow for flight. (fake feathers usually aren't as effective as the real thing, so a few fake feathers on your wing might not compromise your flight, but a lot will. Some people decide that having wings that at least appear whole is worth it, while others don't bother. And obviously, if you need a full-on metal-and-plastic appendage, then you aren't gonna be getting off the ground with that) Prosthetics aren't affected by wing pendants, so they have to be removed before using a pendant and reattached afterwards.

1.) What are 3 things you’d say shaped you into who you are?

hmm my grandfather (he was wild), reading, and my little sister ig :0

39.) Youtuber you’ve been obsessed with and why?

Mr. Max T.V. He’s a cockatoo and he just does bird stuff but i love watching birds (because im a weirdo)

What's the first part of your wip you created?

The first part of my wip that I created was one random, really cool scene that I had to desperately cobble a whole story together for. (Which is how most of my wips start lmao)

If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?

Uhhh come to think of it, I don't really know. Maybe Love Me Forever by Motörhead or something. I feel like it suits the story really well.

What are your favorite characters that you made? Why?

My favorite character is one that features in this story. Joey. And I know that he's supposed to be evil, but I did kind of base him off of David from The Lost Boys (who I am low-key attracted to) so that's probably why I like him so much lol.

What other pieces of media do you think your fan base would share?

Probably a lot of old, 80s, 90s and 2000s monster movies like Ginger Snaps or The Lost Boys and stuff like Mad Max or The Last of Us.

What has been your biggest struggle with your wip?

The biggest struggle I've had with this wip is actually finding the motivation to finish. I'm writing it's fourth draft now, so I've gotten a fair way into the project, but there have definitely been times when I couldn't have been bothered to work on it, and other times when I felt like deleting the whole document and never having to think about it again.

Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!

The most notable creatures in the story are obviously the monsters, The Baneman. Of course, since it's set in Australia, you will see the odd kangaroo hopping about, and maybe a cockatoo or two!

How do your characters get around?

Since it's a road trip story, the characters spend most of their time in a car.

What part of your wip are you working on right now?

I'm up to the fourth draft (gasp) and I'm mostly just working through some minor changes to the overall character arcs and plot.

What aspects (tropes, maybe?) will you think draw audience in?

→ hot villians

→ lots of banter between characters.

→ female rage. female rage. female rage.

→ people turn into monsters (literally and figuratively) when they suffer some type of physical/emotional trauma.

→ the apocalypse.

→ Aussie pub rock aesthetic.
