rules: answer the questions and then tag 10+ other creators to answer the questions!
I was tagged by @zaritomaz (ty!)
first creation and most recent creation of 2020:
My first creation was this Klaroline fic, a pseudo-Rapunzel fusion (with Klaus as Rapunzel, ofc). Although since it was for a secret exchange, Im going to cheat and link the first post of a creation in my blog, aka this short BatCat smutty one-shot.
My most recent one is this excerpt from one of my original stories, a sci-fi space opera wip. The two main characters (and the wlw lead couple) meeting for the first time. Fandom-wise, my last gifset posted (although there are more ready in the queue) is this Maxanne-Silverflint parallel from s02e01. Of which I’m very proud.
one of your favourite creations from 2020:
I have literally 20 pages of new stuff created this year lol, so shorting through that it’s... a lot. I think my favourite creations over all others are the ones I’ve made for my original stuff, especially the excerpts. It had been a long time since I could focus on original creations ^-^
a creation you’re really proud of:
I held out and made content all through Femslash February, I’m proud of that. I’m also proud of this BTVS’ Kendra-centric one-shot, because it finally got me out of my funk, fic-wise.
a new style you tried this year and a gifset that uses it:
I don’t know that I’ve tried new styles, other than simply trying out sharpenings, colouring etc. lol. I experiment more with graphics than with gifsets, I guess? I really liked how my header, a Max from Black Sails edit, came out
your favourite colouring:
I’m proud of this one in a Pepperony-Klaroline parallel set, because it took effort to make them look similar lol. This one for a snowkru/bad bitches kru parallel set was lovely too (here in big form). And this one in a Maxanor-Flintmiranda parallel set. I’m also quite proud of how I manage to color dark scenes like this Flint one lol.
a creation that took you forever:
Compilation gifsets take sooooo long lmao. Most recently, this Silverflint set felt like it took YEARS.
your creation from 2020 that received the most notes:
According to one of those stat sites, it’s this Pepper x Natasha IM2 gifset. The MCU fandom provides notes lol. It still doesn’t have as many notes as my silly shit-post about Asriel and Marisa being shitty parents xD, but that’s from 2019 alas. Hell, I only have three gifsets with more notes than that text post (a Lucas fashion set from Stranger Things; this Eleanor Shellstrop in a leather jacket thirst-trap set; and another Stranger Things set of Steve being Awkward(TM)).
a creation you think deserved more notes:
All of them lmfao *is conceited*. Especially my original stuff!! And everything in the #my graphics or #my icons tags. Those need to be appreciated too!!
a creation with a favorite scene/quote:
This one combines both! It’s a Memori edit of their scene ~~transcending in the series finale (transcendence is whatever, but the moment is pretty), paired with the epic Lyra x Will “every atom” quote *-*
a new fandom you joined and a creation you made for it:
I got started with a few new (or new to me; some of those edits are still in the queue... like for Supernatural xD) fandoms this year, mainly Black Sails. I also made this one for Julie and the Phantoms, this one from The Wire, or this one for The Old Guard.
a creation you made that breaks your heart:
The ones I made recently for Will from His Dark Materials. Also, this Max x mirrors set.
a ‘simple’ creation that you really love:
I’ve done some of what I call “meta edits” lol, of simple scenes that I think say a lot about writing/fandom/human nature/Etc. This Louis Litt edit; this Caroline Forbes edit; this Nikita scene; or all these edits from Reign.
a creation that was inspired by another one:
I’m coming up blank with this one. I’m not saying my ideas come from out of nowhere lol, but I don’t tend to grab 1:1 inspo for edits etc.
a favourite creation created by someone else:
Ooof. Waaaaaay too many to count. My #reblog tag would be useful here lol. Hell, it’d be quicker to tag my fave creators in the next one, so you can get their content first-hand. So that’s what I’ll do.
But I wanted to give a shot-out to the personalized gifts I’ve gotten this year: this recent Maxanne one-shot by @angryhausfrau-writes; this Leia/Poe fic by @equusgirl; a Lizzie + Klaroline fic and a Young Justice’s Dick/Zatanna fic by @missbrunettebarbie; this lovely Echo kom Azgeda edit by @obijuanjabroni; and this edit for one of my original WIPs by @nectargrapes.
some of your favourite content creators from the year:
Other than the above, of course: @doortotomorrow @findsilver @lukearnold @saturnofthemoon @nomattertheoceans @riisinaakka-draws @missbrunettebarbie-writer @elasticella @elloras @avacrwder @lovingyennefer @bombshellsandbluebells @murphystartedthefire @eizagonzalezs @melis-ash @wonderdoves and probably more that I’m tragically forgetting :/
a for good measure, another a couple more creations of yours that you love:
I’m very proud of my #everything i love is the same edits (aka, parallels across different canons): Flintmiranda x Disney’s Beauty and the Beast; Alex/Willie x Disney’s Hercules; Caroline Forbes x Max x Sansa Stark; Caroline/Elena + Reign quote; Echo kom Azgeda x Lizzie Saltzman; Hustlers x Knives Out x Ready or Not x Parasite (+Reign quote); Hustlers + Hamilton quote.
I’m going to follow by example so: if you’ve been tagged in this post for recs, consider yourself tagged to continue the chain. No pressure! And if you want to do it, feel free to grab it even if I haven’t tagged you ^-^

Nationwide Best Selling Picture Books
The Wonderful Things You Will Be
Written and Illustrated by Emily Winfield Martin
TCBR Review: Every child is unique, and parents can’t wait to see what they will one day be!
Emily Winfield Martin’s delightful book dreams of what children will someday grow to be.
This is a gorgeous book with warm and playful illustrations featuring a diverse set of children. Little ones will be drawn to the pictures, quickly pointing out which one matches what they themselves want to be. The surprise of a double foldout page at the end is a very exciting treat for children too, and my daughter wanted to look at it over and again. The prose is sweet and rhyming, drawing children in and lulling them (hopefully) to sleep before bedtime. A charming book that I highly recommend for young children. Read the full review …

The Day The Crayons Quit
By Drew Daywalt
Illustrated by Oliver Jeffers
Publisher’s synopsis: Crayons have feelings, too, in this funny back-to-school story illustrated by the creator of Stuck and This Moose Belongs to Me — now a #1 New York Times bestseller!
Poor Duncan just wants to color. But when he opens his box of crayons, he finds only letters, all saying the same thing: His crayons have had enough! They quit! Beige Crayon is tired of playing second fiddle to Brown Crayon. Black wants to be used for more than just outlining. Blue needs a break from coloring all those bodies of water. And Orange and Yellow are no longer speaking—each believes he is the true color of the sun. What can Duncan possibly do to appease all of the crayons and get them back to doing what they do best?
Kids will be imagining their own humorous conversations with crayons and coloring a blue streak after sharing laughs with Drew Daywalt and New York Times bestseller Oliver Jeffers. This story is perfect as a back-to-school gift, for all budding artists, for fans of humorous books such as Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus by Mo Willems and The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by Jon Sciezka and Lane Smith, and for fans of Oliver Jeffers’ Stuck, The Incredible Book Eating Boy, Lost and Found, and This Moose Belongs to Me.

The Book With No Pictures
By B.J. Novak
Publisher’s synopsis: A #1 New York Times bestseller, this innovative and wildly funny read-aloud by award-winning humorist/actor B.J. Novak will turn any reader into a comedian. You might think a book with no pictures seems boring and serious. Except . . . here’s how books work. Everything written on the page has to be said by the person reading it aloud. Even if the words say . . .
BLORK. Or BLUURF.
Even if the words are a preposterous song about eating ants for breakfast, or just a list of astonishingly goofy sounds like BLAGGITY BLAGGITY and GLIBBITY GLOBBITY.
Cleverly irreverent and irresistibly silly, The Book with No Pictures is one that kids will beg to hear again and again. (And parents will be happy to oblige.)

Dragons Love Tacos
Written by Adam Rubin
Illustrated by Daniel Salmieri
Publisher’s synopsis: This scrumptious New York Times bestseller has a whole lot of kick!
Dragons love tacos. They love chicken tacos, beef tacos, great big tacos, and teeny tiny tacos. So if you want to lure a bunch of dragons to your party, you should definitely serve tacos. Buckets and buckets of tacos. Unfortunately, where there are tacos, there is also salsa. And if a dragon accidentally eats spicy salsa . . . oh, boy. You’re in red-hot trouble.
The award-winning team behind Those Darn Squirrels! has created an unforgettable, laugh-until-salsa-comes-out-of-your-nose tale of new friends and the perfect snack.
Ages 3-5 | Publisher: Dial | June 14, 2012 | ISBN-13:978-0803736801
Grumpy Monkey
Written by Suzanne Lang
Illustrated by Max Lang
Publisher’s Synopsis: The hilarious New York Times bestselling picture book about dealing with unexplained feelings…and the danger in suppressing them!
Jim the chimpanzee is in a terrible mood for no good reason. His friends can’t understand it–how can he be in a bad mood when it’s SUCH a beautiful day? They encourage him not to hunch, to smile, and to do things that make THEM happy. But Jim can’t take all the advice…and has a BIT of a meltdown. Could it be that he just needs a day to feel grumpy?
Suzanne and Max Lang bring hilarity and levity to this very important lesson. This picture book is an excellent case study in the dangers of putting on a happy face and demonstrates to kids that they are allowed to feel their feelings (though they should be careful of hurting others in the process!).

Zennie 2017 - Sonora Sojourn
The plan
In early 2017, I was planning to take Zennie south, starting with a big trip through Mexico that would consume most of the year. Of course, like most trips, it didn't end up quite like I thought it would!
And what good trip WOULD go completely as planned? That would totally remove the sense of adventure!
The reality
One problem was paperwork. I hadn't received my official vehicle title from South Dakota yet (this took months!), so I was concerned about getting the permits I needed.
BUT... there's a "hassle free" zone in the state of Sonora, where you don't need the vehicle permit. So before I had all my ducks lined up for the big trip, I decided to make a quick trip through Sonora, Mexico.
Ah... This is the life! Camped at Islandia in Bahia Kino
The theme
Beaches and exploration!
I was following the Sonoran coastline, which of course involves beaches on the Sea of Cortez. And I was also planning to drive the "new highway" along the coast -- so new that it didn't even show up on any of my maps.
How could a trip like that not be a ton of fun?
The route
The route - Zennie 2017 Sonora Sojourn
Top 3 Highlights
Getting to the beach! As soon as I was camped on the beach at Puerto Peñasco, the world seemed like a better place. There is something about being by the sea that has that effect!
Settled into my beachfront campsite in Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point)
The beautiful coast road. There was some wonderful scenery along here, with views of desert and sea that reminded me of Baja. The new sections of the road were lovely and smooth, and it was empty, too. It added up to a beautiful and enjoyable drive.
Scenery along the coast highway is reminiscent of Baja
Friendly people. The people I met in Bahía Kino were so warm and welcoming that I ended up staying there longer than expected. I was having too much fun to leave!
Sailing in Kino Bay. I had so much fun there!
TopLowlight
After passing through Puerto Libertad, the new coast road joins an older section of road. That part of the road was awful! . It was so narrow in parts that when I met a truck, both of us were scraping our side mirrors on the roadside plants to get by each other, and there were potholes so big they covered the entire lane. It made me wonder if my tires were going to make it, but all went well! . But on the positive side, I might as well get used to driving on roads like this, since that could soon be my new normal!
Major places
Puerto Peñasco has a huge beautiful beach, and I was happy to get a spot where my big dinette windows looked straight out onto the sea. So nice! The campground was almost empty, but that was starting to change about the time I left. We were heading into Semana Santa, and the guy at the campground said it would be absolutely crazy on Easter weekend, with a thousand people camping there. I'm happy I missed that part!
The campground at Puerto Penasco wasn't exactly full...
Coastal highway. I wanted to drive this way because the road here is so new that it doesn't even show up on any of the maps I have. That seems like a good reason to visit, doesn't it? I figured it would be less developed, and more like the authentic Mexican coast before tourism struck. That was certainly true!
Puerto Lobos is a sleepy little fishing village that happens to be in a great location, with a white sand beach on one side, and black sand beach on the other. There are some people with more money moving in, seemingly Mexicans from the city, according to the little that I know about it. Most of the town still looks pretty poor, but it's starting to show signs of advancement -- like a tiny store with a sign on the window saying they sell gasoline. There's no real "gas station" in town, but it's a step in that direction. I couldn't help but think that someday this long empty beach will be covered in hotels.
A windy day in Puerto Lobos
Bahía de Kino was a big surprise. It's another beach town, and I met a super friendly group of people at the Islandia RV park. This is in the old Mexican part of Kino Bay, and it's not like the fancy new properties in New Kino Bay. To me, that makes it much more charming! There's a group of international ex-pats here, who invited me to go sailing, attend an anniversary dinner, and much more. In fact, I hated to leave, and cut out some other trip plans in order to spend more time here. I'll be back!
Islandia campground in Kino Bay (Bahia Kino)
Magdalena de Kino. Driving back, I stopped for a night in Magdalena. I'd always bypassed this town on the highway before, but when I discovered that it's one of Mexico's Pueblos Magicos, I decided it would be worth a stop. It is an attractive little town, with a stately cathedral and a lovely town square, all green and shady. The town's namesake is Padre Kino, a Spanish missionary explorer, who founded missions as far north as Tucson. His bones are on display here - it's a bit ghoulishly for my taste, but nevertheless I went and ogled them like everybody else. Overall, it's a pleasant town, and makes a good stop on the trip.

Note
Sorry to hear you're drifting from the Black Sails fandom :/
Don't get me wrong....I still love Black Sails (my icon and header are still dedicated to Max/Maxanne). And the mutuals I have from the fandom are all great. But I don't really fit in with the majority of the fandom. 95% of it is constantly fighting about Silver/S*lverflint discourse which I personally couldn't care less about. And there are too many people who hate Eleanor (who I love) and love Vane (who I despise). So I'm kind of an odd one out.
I think it's better for me to just stick to my Black Sails mutuals and mostly keep away from the fandom at large lol

blog tag.
tagged by @chiara-mastroianni (ty!)
1. Why did you choose your url? – “lau” from Laura and “fire” for Lady Fire from the Seven Kingdoms series. It’s our portmanteau xD
2. Any side blogs? – My writeblr in @laufire-writes and fan sideblogs for @fyeahrositabustillos @fythesevenkingdoms @fyeahjordanandmaia @rizzydaily @shadowhuntersrarepairnetwork @careforbesdaily
3. How long have you been on Tumblr? – from late 2016, I think?
4. Do you have a queue tag? – “i don’t care about sex; i care about queue”; a paraphrased quote of Isabelle to Raphael in Shadowhunters, my first main fandom here.
5. Why did you start your blog in the first place? – I wanted to start posting some meta and stories to get out of my writers block, learn to edit in photoshop, and make some friends here ^-^
6. Why did you choose your icon/pfp? – it’s Kali and Gabriel from Supernatural lol. I wanted an icon that reflected my current fixation without being like... one of those spn icons you see over and over, tyvm.
7. Why did you choose your header? – I have an edit I made of Max from Black Sails as a header, and an icon of Jennifer from Jennifer’s Body as a sidebar (all linked in my bio). Basically I go for my favourite things for my icons, one way or another.
8. What’s your post with the most notes? – this Lucas Sinclair from Stranger Things gifset.
9. How many mutuals do you have? – over a hundred? 120-ish? Around that.
10. How many followers do you have? – 917.
11. How many people do you follow? – 163.
12. Have you ever made a shitpost? – Have I xDD
13. How often do you use Tumblr each day? – actively around once if I have time, a few times a week, to make posts etc. My activity/messages more often when I’m bored in the public transport lol.
14. Did you have a fight/argument with another blog once? – a few times, yeah.
15. How do you feel about “you need to reblog this” posts? – It will make me NOT reblog it because it triggers my pettiness lol.
16. Do you like tag games? – Love them xD
17. Do you like ask games? – Even more.
18. Which of your mutuals do you think is Tumblr famous? – I have no idea of how to measure this lmao. But I have seen a lot of post from @marzipanandminutiae circling around and getting notes in other circles, so her xD
19. Do you have a crush on a mutual? – not in the romantical sense. Although I think a lot of you are very cool and great writers/artists/media analysis in this way that I both admire and get very jealous of :-*
