I am NOT into Mouthwashing by any means but apparently some of the fanbase is censoring out Jimmy's name like it's a slur??????? Like he's an evil character no shit but acting like it's a no no word like we're in fucking fifth grade is so stupid.
#mouthwashing fandom is so rife with antis#which is fucking ironic#considering the subject matter of the game#antis approach dark themes with sensibility and actual maturity challenge#if the main mouthwashing fandom finds this please cremate me instead of burying#ppl are unironically being called rape defenders for even remotely liking Jimmy's chatacter ffs#proship#proshippers please interact#proshipper#anti anti#antis are stupid

I went to the PreCure subreddit once and it was full of:
Complaints about the names/calling them immature Complaints about the Pinks Complaints that the show for babies wasn't tackling mature issues like addiction or domestic abuse Complaints that "it feels like a toy commercial these days."
Turned right back around and never went back, jfc.
#how dare the baby show be aimed at... babies#also wild how the third point KEEPS COMING UP#one person will comment that they'd like to see more mature subjects tackled in the show#and then people will chime in with things they'd like to see:#and it'll start plausible with things like 'bullying' or 'death' but then escalate to 'drugs' and 'DV' and 'murder'#and no they are NOT joking.

Every day I inch closer to changing my DNI rule from 18 to 21 istg
I realize the 2nd Twitter exodus is happening but I do not have time to block every account promoting re8, a MATURE RATED GAME, to minors.
This is also just my blog for everything and I'm a 30-year old woman who likes hitting reblog on posts about sex AND filing taxes. Easy enough not to hit the follow button if that's not for you.
#18 is a legal number. It is not a show of mental maturity or comprehension#and frankly 21 doesn't feel high enough either but I have lovely friends who are early 20s. It's all entirely subjective#too much everything. I need to go sit in a bog somewhere and decompress with my fellow over-30 hags#bat bat bat bat

I want to make a longer post about this someday but: I think Arya's TWOW arc is going to include her coming to terms with her identity as a Lady. This has been an ongoing conflict with her since her first chapter and I think her flowering in winds is going to mark a turning point. The theory of her having an apprenticeship with the courtesans holds a lot of weight and the idea of Arya going through puberty among a group of unconventional women she's fostered a positive relationship with is just too perfect. It would really have an impact on Arya reconciling her personal idea of what a Lady should be. There's also a lot that she could learn from them in terms of courtesies, communication, appearances, body-language, etc. that would elevate her current skill-set and ways her relationship with them could push the plot.
Not to mention she will undoubtedly reclaim her identity as Arya Stark, and her being a Lady is inseparable from that. Arya Stark is a Lady Stark and being a Lady is a social position, not a measure of how well someone preforms feminine tasks. She shouldn't have to relinquish her position because she doesn't fit patriarchal standards. That's not to say that she's ever going to be the perfect example of a traditional Lady but what I think will happen is that she becomes capable of playing the part. She plays several identities throughout the series but she's always been Arya underneath, so I think it's appropriate that she learns to adopt a "persona" that's part of her. Her remembering Ned putting on his "Lord's face" (+ the various examples of other characters being separate from their ruling persona) makes me think that Arya will be donning her "Lady's face" when she makes a return to Westeros.
#arya stark#asoiaf#twow speculations#Arya has been through so much traumatic shit and I think her flowering is going to bring up a lot of her self-esteem issues#I just really need her surrounded by kind older women when that happens so she can have some comfort#George saying her arc in braavos could be the plot of a YA novel?? definitely makes me think she's going to grow up a lot there#she's already one of the most mature characters so I think part of it's going to be her accepting her duty as a Stark Lady#she wants to help and protect people and the best way she can do that is if she has political power#She could learn that first hand in TWOW#possibly through her finding out about her marriage??? and meeting Jeyne in Braavos??#and before someone says it courtesans are so much more then sex work so I don't want to hear it#they are such a big part of Braavosi high life...they're cultured and connected with very important people#I just have so many thoughts on the subject cause I think her apprenticeship with them will serve multiple purposes#the faceless men and their plans...the iron bank...the sealord...It's all connected and I think her apprenticeship with them will kick off#the braavos plot and could mark the beginning of the end of her time with the faceless men and in braavosi#half a boy half a wolf pup -> half a lady half a wolf#I think her current skillset fits well and it's likely she'll learn even more in TWOW#Arya defining her own role as a Lady and becoming comfortable means so much to me

This was easily one of the best Lupin episodes
#there will be a rant in the tags that you can ignore#but it is so upsetting how modern/current lupin took away the depths of these characters and flimsily tries to restore their earlier depth#i'm one of those people who craves depth in what i watch and it's so difficult to like this franchise because it will be so close to doing#something interesting only to abandon it#this episode and part one as a whole was peak lupin in my opinion with each character having emotional depth yet flaws to overcome#yet modern lupin would have you believe that these characters don't desire to improve in any capacity#if we were to just focus on Goemon for example right here he shows depth with revealing hidden emotional maturity and empathy for Lupin by#comforting him and admitting he himself is afraid (which is a big deal for a character like him who is supposed to be unflinching)#but in modern lupin goemon will literally say that he's not afraid of anything and this is written without any hint of irony or depth#i'm okay with mindless entertainment and i understand that this is a series simply about stealing but the character assassination is so#disappointing#and when this series does try to be “deep” they pick the most triggering subject matter possible to depict to the point where it's#practically unwatchable (this is in reference to Part 4 and its constant SA plots as well as the rampant gratuitous child abuse plots#throughout the entire series)#i want so badly to love lupin the 3rd but it's a huge problem when fanfiction understands the characters better than the source material#lupin iii#lupin the third#lupin the 3rd#goemon ishikawa xiii#goemon#arsene lupin iii#jigen daisuke#daisuke jigen#fujiko mine#part 1

I love talking about my Hcs but I get a little despressed not being able to talk about the more serious/mature stuff about them. Not that silly HC aren't intresting. But I like to phycologically decontsruct the trama of charaters and how it effects them and their behavoir (like Alto's trama n' stuff).
I'm NOT stupid enough to just drop that kind Hcs lntpertation like randomly without like, REALLY beating around the bush abt it.
Like I need a place where I can get into the nitty gritty of it all.
#kinda vent#i hate beating around the bush#some ppl can't handle mature subjects like thay#AND THATS OKAY!!!#I just find them more intresting ig#idk sometimes i feel like if i even SLIGHTLY try to talk about a more mature topic#someone gets offened or immedatly triggered

guys i gotta be honest whenever people call the live action avatar “darker “more serious” and “less childish” then the original show i just think of this meme
#natla#netflix avatar the last Airbender#probably gonna be my most critical natla post lmao#before i continue i don’t hate the show i give it like a solid 6/10#there’s actually a lot of stuff they changed/added that i like like IROH AND ZUKO OH BOY#especially iroh it’s so good#but is it controversial if i say i don’t think this show is all dark and super duper mature?#obviously on a surface level it is with the violence and such#certain parts got to me#but beyond that I don’t think it is?#the show is very tell don’t show and it kinda treats its audience like we need to be spoon fed?#idk…. imo maturity is a lot more then violence it’s how you treat your audience and how you approach certain subject matters#and I feel like in that department the show kinda flopped#plus with how they handle certain characters (katara…)#THATS ALL IDK MAN ITS JUST MY OPINION#natla spoilers

rewatching dil gets spooky and it’s sooo comforting and nostalgic ugh I’ve been rewatching all the spooky gaming and baking videos but just old sims party hosting is so fun
#scrolling through the most recent comments as I do when rewatching old videos#and there’s one from a year ago (exact date unlikely but probably before the revival)#that says I know Dan is a grown man that is very analytical but I miss his outgoing humour#it really makes me think about how we perceive people going through different stages of life and how they choose to present themselves#like sure in the wad/ywgttn era dan was coming across as more mature or whatever that means#dealing with addressing different subject matter in his creative work ig#but I feel like people kinda like to put him in a box. like that was still the same dan!#even if he intentionally chose to present himself in a certain way through promo etc during that time#idk it is true though that over the past year in gaming videos and genuine introspective conversations like in the pizza mukbang#that he is letting go and allowing himself to just enjoy and be silly and do his little dances#do all the unhinged activities with Phil to promote a dragon iPhone game and laugh at tiktoks#he loves the word camp so Dan Howell is Camp and I love him#and we should let people ride out those different waves of life and self#idk wtf this is these tags are like a whole other post but oh well#dnp#dan and phil#dnpgames#randomthots#the sims

i dont think fizz and blitz mending their relationship was that rushed. like fizz is in a good place mentally and emotionally (compared to most other characters in this show he's doing alright)
plus he didnt completely forgive blitz (or was suddenly totally ok with everything that happened), more like he's ok with him being in his life again (they've got a lot of work to do)
#also its been 15 years and theyre what? 36 now? maybe they dont /want/ to be angry at eachother anymore#helluva boss spoilers#helluva boss#blitzo#fizzarolli#people are so weird with forgiveness#like if youve been wronged by someone then they must be cut out forever#obvs its subjective/depends on the what they did exactly#like theres nothing wrong with hearing someone out and forgiving them#plus most characters in this show are so bitter and resentful its nice to have someone be at a little mature for once

calling shadow 2005 a game that tried to be more mature is a bit mislead imo. it tried to be Darker and i don't think that's really comparable to being mature, not when it tried to still appeal to an audience of kids (maybe slightly older kids but kids anyway). like have you seen the promotional shadow interviews where he talks about eating doritos and hot pockets and skateboarding and hanging out with his friends? that's an entire 15-year-old how is that mature. his game is not mature it's edgy and dark and isn't afraid of being goofy either, it's an excessive and novel exploration of his character and his character is fucking edgy and his history has a lot of details and elements that make it very easy to lean into it and embrace it. shadow 2005 is not a mature game but that doesn't make it bad and i feel like if it had tried to pretend to be more mature than it was we would've ultimately been worse off for it. instead we can have a game that, while flawed, isn't afraid of being dark and edgy and full of guns and aliens and green blood while also featuring Clown Music in its ost and giving the player goofy as fuck weapons and overusing the one swearword they could get away with to a silly but memorable degree
#soda offers you a can#my takes are wordy today but goddamn i will die on the hill that is this game#i'd say games like 06 the storybook entries are more to the mature end of sonic. maybe frontiers too even#they tackle their subject materials with the kind of seriousness that takes itself seriously#and while shadow 2005 doesn't make fun of itself it also doesn't try to pretend that what's going on isn't at least a little silly#it knows what it is in the same way heroes knows what it is and for that i respect it immensely

I was fine with forgiving Greta Gerwig for splitting up Barbie and Ken and just believing that the two would reunite eventually, but today I remembered that this isn't the first time she breaks up a canon couple.
In 2019, Greta (at least implied that she) also broke up Jo March and Friedrich Bhaer, my literal OTP OF OTPS.
I get that the way the story in Barbie (2023) plays out means that Barbie and Ken's breakup makes sense and is almost something necessary, but it's really sad to me that Barbie is portrayed as never having loved Ken despite the fact that, oh I don't know, they were literally made for each other.
Once that is added to the Jo/Friedrich thing from Little Women (2019), I'm starting to think Greta doesn't believe in love 😔
#BARBIE SPOILERS#barbie and ken could've worked it out okay?!!#stop breaking up our otps greta#or give us a sequel where they've both matured as people and reunite#ik the lw ending is left up to interpretation which means she didn't TECHNICALLY break them up#but the fact that it IS up for interpretation in the first place is a problem#i still really love both of these movies#but i must say my piece about this subject#barbie x ken#barbie 2023#jo x friedrich#little women 2019#greta gerwig#elly's posts

a sonic game being rated e10+ isnt really as big a deal as some people seem to think it is like yeah its the highest esrb rating a sonic game can be given but its still very much a "yeah kids can play this" rating and theres several other sonic games with that rating many of which arent the sorts of games people tend to think of when talking about games with darker storylines. but i do think its funny that sonic generations wasnt rated e10+ until they added the shadow stuff on. just how big a tonal difference are the two campaigns going to have ...
#also the exact reasons a game is given a particular rating can vary from game to game#for example shadow 05 is definitely the most famous example of an e10+ sonic game#because of the swearing and the shooting realistic guns and the little girl dying etc etc#but sonic unleashed is also rated e10+ even though its very lighthearted in comparison#if i had to guess why it would be because some of the stuff in there could be considered scary to really little kids#like perfect dark gaia and eggman electrocuting sonic in the opening cutscene#but like . its still a very different game from shadow 05 is what im saying#also back on the subject of shadow 05 it definitely does have a darker tone than the average sonic game#but i feel like even then some people might still be remembering it as being darker/more mature than it actually was#like how the actual portrayals of maria's death we see are nothing like the super bloody and scary moment people make it sound like it is

Personally i found that post about Joe being "arrogant" for not showing his personality that went around a while ago a bit odd because it was very tied to a specific image of what an Actor should do to promote themselves + furthermore a specific idea on what constitutes success. There are plenty of actors who are equally private and """"personality-less""""" in the public eye and still get jobs. Joe seems to be just fine getting the jobs he wants. I think the more worthwhile convo to have is about how somebody who does not want to showcase their personality in the public eye might not mesh well with an attention lover, AND how it is pointless to assign morality to these positions – people do this in both directions.
#'i miss mature grown up folklore era' you don't like that Taylor is silly and likes showing off her personality for attention#'joe is arrogant for thinking his acting skills alone would get him jobs' you value personality in your celebs#Which is a totally fine stance to have!!! But it is very subjective

I wanted to mention the fact that I enjoyed (mostly. lots of triggers in the movie) rewatching The Hunchback Of Notre Dame recently and thought it’d be interesting to figure out an AU for Trolls even if it never develops into a written story. Wanted to see if you’d also enjoy thinking on it!
I love Hunchback of Notre Dame, it’s arguably one of my favorite Disney movies! It’s been quite a while since my last rewatch (years maybe?). The soundtrack though I totally listen to more often.
An au you say? Sounds like a very interesting concept! Thanks for the brain storm food!
#asks#the soundtrack is so grand#remember being blown away rewatching in middle school#idk if my braincells are enough to successfully navigate through its more mature themes/subjects#-& translate it to an au lol#thanks for the ask 🔔💛

something I think people forget re: taboo fiction or art is how formative it often is for children; either by contrasting normality, or highlighting the absence of it: making kids more aware of their reality and could-be realities, testing the waters of their imagination, warming up their empathy-drive. it’s about understanding, of situations and of character, of choices made then un-made. yapping here but I’m thinking of my childhood best friend telling me in hushed tones about flowers in the attic, or us huddled together watching the phantom of the opera and wishing this time Christine will choose her ostensible (objective) abuser—who we couldn’t help but see our own insecurities in, feel connected to on account of otherness and being othered; I remember talking to her about the peach scene in call me by your name (book not movie; our friendship had stalled by that point) and that one wattpad story where a man kidnapped four girls he named after flowers and raped them; writing our own stories about torn bodies and ghosts and angels who can’t be good and magic that only ruins everything and love that is hurtful more than it is pure — stories that, to us, didn’t reflect on something miserable, only something true. I don’t know. we had only so many words/worlds to grow into; art as expression, not representation
#maybe this is just a me thing. but considering the popularity of twilight and the hunger games (in general ya dystopia) maybe not#stems I think from the childlike desire for something serious and therefore something real; to no longer feel like half the world is#obscured to you through belittlement. and that’s really what it is isn’t it? lack of respect continues abuse; self-caused or not#at a certain point it’s the only thing you understand. often times darker fiction (subjective term) is the only space afforded to children#to actually express themselves; especially as they grow up especially as they go through puberty. too much of the saccharine and not#enough of the sordid and that's the only thing that expresses maturity which is to children the same as respectability#also this is saying nothing of the general fascination with and inclination towards dark or tragedic narratives which obviously#applies to children because they are people like the rest of us. we're just as capable of being shaped by morbidity as we are of/by joy#will shut up now I promise. got my childhood on the brain so expect more weirdly vaguely sentimental posts though#log
