The New York Downtown Producer/Composer Returns With His First New Album In 3 Years EIGHTEEN: the year of release, 2018. EIGHTEEN: the age at which I first used a synthesizer. In creating EIGHTEEN I worked independently in the studio, initially building up tracks with synthesizers and found sounds recorded in my daily comings and goings. After working with the tracks over a period of months,I shared them with a few musicians, who added their own instrumental layers. Though working independently, we all shared a similar working process: working in our personal recording spaces, as opposed to larger recording studios. The musicians are: Gabe Gurnsey (drums) of Factory Floor, with whom I collaborated on the Beachcombing EP and performed live at London’s ICA. I appear on Gabe’s newly released album Physical; ​Larry Saltzman (guitar) has played in my Love Of Life Orchestra since the 1970’s. Well-known for his work with Arthur Russell (“Kiss Me Again”, Flying Hearts), he is in high demand in NYC by acts such as Simon and Garfunkel; ​Paul Nowinski, (bass) has played with LOLO since the 1980’s. In June 2018, KHLOARIS programmed, set up and hosted the film@segment of the Freak Flag Fest at Brooklyn Kitchen. The fest was a multi-day, multi-level affair and featured dozens of experimental music acts, including the debut of Mike Watt’s Afternoon Freak (also featuring Matt Mottel and Danny Frankel). There was gourmet food, art installations and more. Our films were programmed around the music acts. We focused on a sort of weird history of New York underground cinema, and had a cross-section of old guard@and new guard avant-garde, with some live 16mm projection and cult/trash film. Here, you’re seeing a crowd watching a new Nick Zedd music video for our friend and frequent collaborator @nylonothropho Our program also featured Troma (and Toxie!) on hand to do a matinee of “Terror Firmer,” as well as Lily Jue Sheng, Julie Orlick, Mike Diana and TFG, Amanda Justice, Zoe Camina and Elyssa Oliver, Dylan Greenberg, Zach Strum and more. We also had two weekend-long large installations via the Horror Boobs and the Millennium Film Workshop. Our friends at Mono No Aware helped out with some 16mm projection equipment. Abwechslungsreiches Sommerkino im Schlosshof erleben

Moers. (pst) Mehrere Veranstaltungen können Filmfans beim Sommerkino des Kulturbüros Moers und des Grafschafter Museums im Schlosshof (Kastell 9) erleben. Am Samstag, 28. August, um 20.30 Uhr ist ‚Tief im Westen‘ zu sehen. Die Zuschauerinnen und Zuschauer begeben sich mit Familienfilmen aus den 50er bis 80er Jahren auf eine Reise durch das Ruhrgebiet. Sie haben die Veränderungen der Region und alltägliche Situationen erfasst (Foto: Archiv für Familien- und Amateurfilm des Ruhrgebiets). Konzeption und Schnitt stammen von dem Filmemacher und Autor Geremia Carrara. Zu den Bildern gibt es eine Live-Vertonung von Thomas Machoczek (Synthesizer) Matt Mottel (Keyboard), Alessandro Palmitessa (Saxphon und Klarinette) und Kevin Shea (Schlagzeug). Die Veranstaltung wird unterstützt von InterkulturRuhr und vom NRW Kultursekretariat mitfinanziert.  1700 Jahre Jüdisches Leben in Deutschland Am Donnerstag, 2. September, um 20.30 Uhr zeigt das Grafschafter Museum in Kooperation mit der vhs Moers – Kamp-Lintfort ein Filmdrama von Roman Polanski. Darin geht es um den Überlebenskampf eines polnisch-jüdischen Pianisten im Jahr 1939. Am Sonntag, 5. September, ist ebenfalls um 20.30 Uhr ein Kurzfilm von Arkadij Khaet und Mickey Paatzsch zu sehen. Er zeigt, mit welchen Problemen Jüdinnen und Juden in Deutschland kämpfen. Die beiden jungen Filmmacher skizzieren die Zutaten des Films so: 1 Jude, 12 Deutsche, 5cl Erinnerungskultur, 3cl Stereotype, 2 TL Patriotismus, 1 TL Israel, 1 Falafel, 5 Stolpersteine, ein Spritzer Antisemitismus. 100% koscher! An dem Abend gibt es zudem eine musikalische Untermalung. Aus lizenzrechtlichen Gründen dürfen die Titel beider Filme nicht genannt werden. Sie werden im Rahmen der Veranstaltungsreihe ‚1700 Jahre Jüdisches Leben in Deutschland‘ gezeigt. Bei schlechtem Wetter finden die Aufführungen im Alten Landratsamt statt. Anmeldungen sind per Telefon (0 28 41 / 201-6 82 00) oder per E-Mail an grafschafter-museum@moers.de möglich.  Filme für junge Menschen Zwei Filmabende besonders für ein jugendliches Publikum gibt es am Wochenende 3./4. September jeweils um 20 Uhr im Schlosshof. Am Freitag, 3. September, präsentieren der Moerser Regisseur Frederik Göke sowie Jugendliche aus der Integrationsklasse des Hermann-Gmeiner-Berufskollegs und des SCI:Moers Kurzfilme. Sie haben an den mit Mitteln des Bundes geförderten Projekten im Rahmen von ‚Kultur macht stark‘ teilgenommen. Themen an dem Abend sind Flucht, Migration, Homosexualität, Umweltzerstörung und Schönheitswahn. Einige der jungen Filmschaffenden wollen im Anschluss mit dem Publikum ins Gespräch kommen. Am Samstag, 4. September, ist ‚Last Male Standing‘ in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Jugenddokumetarfilmfestival doxs!ruhr zu sehen. Die junge niederländische Regisseurin Floor van der Meulen dokumentiert darin die letzten zweieinhalb Lebensjahre des einzig verbliebenen Breitmaulnashornbullen der Welt. Vor dem Film gibt es eine Einführung und anschließend ein Gespräch mit der Regisseurin. Ausweichort bei Regen ist für beide Abende die Aula des Gymnasiums in den Filder Benden (Zahnstraße 43).  Infobox: Der Eintritt zu allen Filmabenden ist kostenlos.
