there's something so charming about hunter, but in a soothing way

it doesnt mean she cant be silly ofc, but her eyes reflect so much of her moods and personality

when she's with the eagle she looks calm and gentle and much of the expressions she makes are towards the eagle; when nimue gets the bird, when the godslayer stuns the eagle and got one of the flaps and at the end of the game when he corrupts the eagle completely there were always a close at her face to show us how worried hunter was towards her friend

it's as if the eagle highlights hunter in some way, cause if you think about it hunter is not really an important person; she's an outsider and a stranger, and eagle mother is there not only to push her forwards, but she also works like this excuse to develop what lies inside hunter - her feelings

the more i think about, like no human(oid) character in the pathless have a mouth, which is an interesting decision - may it be because the animator said "nuh uh i aint doing this" or because they had other intentions - having no mouth makes it harder to humanize a character cause to do so you work around facial expression mostly

for characters like the diver or the little guy from journey it works cause humanizing them is not the focus - they are vessels for the player to experience the message of the game, much like a blank page, but hunter is a more defined type of character, she's not only for the player to control; there are instance where she speaks for herself (literally), she reacts towards her environment (like when she groans when she hits the ground), it's a bit of "i exist in relation to others" kind of thing i dont even know if this explanations make sense

the thing is, if you gonna hide the mouth (and it's funny cause they got rid of the mouths but not of the speech), to deliver something believable you have to put extra attention in other places, like eyes (which is probably the reason why they made her eyes big, for emphasis) and corporal expression (i love all of hunter animations like ALL of them, the idles are so cool and my favorite has to be the climbing one HAVE YOU SEEN THAT CREATURE)

another aspect that locks my eyes on hunter is her color palette; she feels a bit like 60% red and 40% black which an almost dangerous distribution cause it gets near the boring looking too evenly palette, but i feel like this problem is partially solved by the color choice cause black and red is very iconic (but i see that this can be subjective, so take it with a grain of salt)

to give some examples: im typing from an nitro acer (black red palette), you can see cars with that bright red (+black of the tires), and i can name a few characters with red+black combination, like matoi ryuko from kill la kill, kaguya, that masochist from that cassino games school (she's iconic i will recognize but i wont lose my time googling it i dont wanna know details about that anime)

(also if i had to point a match for hunter from another media....... kikyo my beloved i fucking love you my gay awakening i kept watching inuyasha cause i wanted to see you on my screen omg)

but at the same time her color scheme puzzles me: what does it mean? usually color is used for storytelling or readability purposes

hunter red black contrasts very well against the greens/whites/oranges of the landscape, mostly bc it's highly saturated; but then you get to the boss fight and......

i know that the boss fights dont take as many screen time as exploration but considering that they are the action moment hmm idk the math aint mathing here

well what's about storytelling? a bit of the same problem shown on the above image; hunter shares the color scheme with the corrupted tall ones and godslayer which makes things even more confusing

(seriously am i stupid and didnt see the obvious hint everyone else saw and im just here staring at the walls idk)

that said i have come up with my own worms to explain this and it comes down to: it's not from the land/natural

godslayer and the corrupted tall ones shouldnt exist, they are not natural to this world and actually an evil twist of the reality; hunter not necessarily is corrupted, but is also not natural (from the island), she's an outsider, it's about this feeling of not-belonging

however in the end of the day the color choice is also about readability and keeping things cohesive; stretching the color palette of the entire game just to give hunter a different look would do more damage than helping, imagine changing to something not that far like a pink or yellow, things still would change drastically

in the end i still love hunter very much ma babegurl <3 sillly stupid<333 my dear blorbo<333 hope she finds a lot of hobbies <33333

THE MUSE

Name: Senketsu (Senketsu Matoi for whenever someone demands a surname in a human form)

Age: Technically, as a science experiment, less than a decade. Mentally a young adult.

Gender: Again, technically an alien life form and sometimes a walking skirt, but leans male for convenience. He/him.

Orientation: Ryukosexual Something that includes women, he didn't exactly have time to figure that one out.

Canon storyline (Kill la Kill): A kamui (godrobe) created by Isshin Matoi with the explicit purpose of being worn by Isshin's daughter Ryuko Matoi. Which Senketsu very much did, doing his best to aid her in battles and protect her to the best of his (considerable) abilities. Became her friend (and something more) in the process, evolved, learned to have emotions, free will and decide his own appearance. Fell apart because of power overload in the finale and spent his last remaining strength to get Ryuko back into the atmosphere, in which his physical body burned to ashes. Some part of his consciousness, however, is implied to maybe still be up there.

Abilities per canon: Life-Fiber synchronization, morphing parts of his synchronized form as he evolves (blades, flying).

Non-canon storyline for this blog only: Suspend your disbelief entirely and just believe me when I say that having nothing better to do and missing his time on Earth (and his partner in particular) terribly, he spent a few years (Earth time) collecting stray life fibers drifting in space after their defeat. Upon gathering just enough to fashion himself a new body which will survive the impact, he returned on Earth, having no idea how much time has passed, but determined to either find Ryuko or at least learn what's become of her. It doesn't help that he has never in his life been outside of the few areas they've visited, let alone on his own... or that he doesn't fully know what passing as a human is like.

Here's a literary, fanfic-y description of all that.

Abilities per this storyline: Can morph his body in whatever he wishes. Usually he 'wishes' to either pass as a human to avoid problems and navigate the world better, or to make up outfits for his wearer. That said, if the situation calls,then blades, flying, big teeth and other fun stuff aren't off the table. And this time he can do it on his own.

How life-fiber synchronization works in this form: Well, either he just transforms into a big dragon-like energy form and carefully chomps the person (see: canonical transformation sequence), or, for special cases, this.

Still needs blood instead of food?: Yes. Though he can attempt to consume human food, it won't bring him much energy or the full taste spectrum like blood does.

With @/vindicta-reliquiae and her boys over at @/zantedeschia-praesul. After traveling for a while Senketsu finally made it back to Kanto and got reunited with Ryuko. Now they definitely have a lot to catch up on, issues to work through and things to figure out, but the most important part is that both of them are finally home.

There's a journey to be had for sure >:3 )

No godmodding or powerplaying. Canon does not limit me much in terms of what Senketsu could be capable of if you piss him AND his mun off. So let's both be reasonable.

hey, if there's still time to revise, I can give a better description for kill la kill's red scissor blade! (i gave the original description. sorry it was vague, i wasn't sure how spoilery we could get with them):

The red scissor blade is the only clue left at the scene of main character ryuko matoi's father's murder, and her only lead in tracking his killer down (she's looking for whoever has the other half). It's half of an invention her father made called the Rending Scissors, which are able to cut life fibers, a kind of semi-sentient alien hivemind creature bent on eating humanity, whose infusion into clothing makes its wearers stronger. It's one of the most iconic designs of the series and it's just kinda neat to me. also it can shrink somehow (unexplained) because the animators didn't want ryuko to keep lugging it around in a guitar case. it also gets used as a makeshift tennis racket at one point.

My favorite characters of anime

Hi everyone, today im going to talk about my favorite anime characters, hope you like it!₍ᐢ.  ̫.ᐢ₎✦Ryuko matoi: Definitely one of my favorite characters, for her strength, her determination and her perseverance to achieve her goals, in this case, revenge. As for his personality, I realize that I like characters with strong characters but who are deep down very noble people with many wounds behind them that make them hide behind a mask of seriousness and emphasis on their goals or objectives. In this case, Ryuko is a character who, in much of the beginning and development of the anime, is seen as a sullen person, although she finally ends up opening up to her vulnerability and feelings in order to create crucial bonds in her life like Mako and her family.

✦Jotaro Kujo: I love his serene and reserved countenance, I really like that he is such a powerful character and that he does not abuse this power except to fulfill his personal and collective objectives. He is loyal and unconditional and although it may not be noticeable, these virtues are thanks to his big heart, even though he does not show his affection in everyday life. When he definitely became one of my favorite characters was when he defeated Dio Brando, and he even remained in my top when other iconic characters appeared later such as Giorno Giovanna, Josuke Higashikata and Jolyne Kujo.

✦Najimi Osama: This is one of my favorite characters par excellence, first for her explosive personality, for being so outgoing and for her incredible ability to make so many friends. I love his tenderness and kindness, I feel very reflected in this character and especially the fact that his gender is very ambiguous, maybe even gender fluid, although there have been many discussions around this and it is actually one of the characteristics What makes this character so curious.

✦Spike Spiegel: What about the main character of Cowboy Bebop caught my attention was his lazy, indifferent and sarcastic attitude in duality with his extreme skill in martial arts and how this contrast was emphasized in the development of the anime. He is a very entertaining character for me since he does not usually intervene much in the anime on a daily level, but his skills stand out in play with his personality to make the fights alongside the jazz in the background notable scenes within the series. However, sometimes I feel like the character loses his focus because I feel like quite a few filler chapters are a bit removed from the main plot.

These are just some of my favorite characters, and by making this post I realized that even though they are all very different, they are united by kindness in their hearts, nobility, perseverance and determination in the face of any difficulty in life.Thank you!!₍^.  ̫.^₎

Unconventional weapons

There are many examples of characters using unconventional weapons as weapons very effectively, usually tools or toys that are used as weapons in interesting ways or in a different way to usual.

The first example is Dell Conagher aka Engineer from Team Fortress 2, his most iconic weapon aside from his Sentry Gun is his Wrench which he uses to build his dispensers but also defend himself against enemies with surprising effect.

Another example is Ryuko Matoi from Studio Trigger's Kill La Kill's Scissor Blade, which is as it sounds, half of a giant pair of scissors.

Another example of unconventional weapons is Killua's Yo-Yos from Hunter X Hunter which can also conduct electricity and are extremly heavy. I've tried to incorporate similar weapons in a character in the past.

The most recent example on this list is Gori's Hoverboard from Gori Cuddly Carnage which he rides but also uses as a weapon by spinning into enemies and grinding against walls.

A more funny example is the Frying Pan from many Valve games, the most iconic of which being Demopan, in which instead of a sword in melee combat he uses a Frying Pan to decimate everything in his path with insane melee damage and random critical hits that maker him able to one shot most classes in the game.

A more simple example is Gon's Fishing Rod which he didn't originally use as a weapon, and just for fishing, but he uses it in combination with his own abilities and doesn't use it very often.

An example of using a weapon wrong but still being somewhat effecting is Demoman's Ullapool Caber, which he uses as a hand-held melee weapon to explode enemies directly infront of him, and also to jump high up quickly if needed by striking the floor. It can only be used once before having to restock though.
