Headcanon: James' birthday

The party invitation is extended to him by a giggling Mathilde, one or two sideway looks thrown at Madeleine betraying that this has been a well-rehearsed mission. Now that the Swanns are progressively introducing him into all aspects of their lives, he's more often than not at their London apartment anyway, but he relishes the sweet validation that they do want and expect him in their family.

The birthday party itself is a colorful affair: not only is there a big cake with candles that he gets to blow with the help and pudgy arms of an enthusiastic five-year-old, there are also heaps of presents. A delicious concept of long-buried familiarity, like a soft toy found hibernating under the bedding in one's childhood bedroom. First comes a watch, simple in design but whose large white wristband has been drawn on with a child's trembling approximations of ships and seagulls (« For when we go to Jamaica », Mathilde proclaims with finality) ; a turquoise turtleneck that brings a soft look to Madeleine’s eyes when he puts it on over his henley, and that he promises to himself to investigate later ; a couple of photography books that he remembers casually mentioning while they were strolling along a Leica store ; and, finally and deceptively innocuously, a whole pile of children’s books.

He raises an inquisitive eyebrow at the Swann council, his ladies sharing a secret smile and Madeleine placing her hand in Mathilde's as she announces that it is time he be introduced to their bedtime ritual. They thus spend the remainder of the afternoon reading together, bundled up on the couch with their feet propped up on a coffee table now drowning under vibrant paper wrappings. Mathilde is a tough customer, interjecting here and there to demand that James pitch his voice shriller for the Rose or deeper for the Fox, prompting a literary debate he would have never in a million years imagined he would get to voice his opinion in. Madeleine refrains from chiming in, but he can surmise from the way her chest shakes on the other end of the couch and from the mirth in her eyes that he has a long way to go before he's deemed master storyteller.

If his voice is a little raw and hoarse when they finally put Mathilde to bed, no one comments on it, still high from the thrill of sharing so many adventures. Cuddling quietly with Madeleine afterwards amidst the remains of the feast feels only natural, expanding the weighty warmth that seems to have taken permanent residence in his chest, the stem of his glass of wine coming to tickle her leg while she massages his scalp and twines her fingers around silvering strands of hair - longer now that he formally retired and ditched the military cut. Humming in contentment, he lets his thoughts wander to what stories they will pick up next.

Headcanon post-No Time To Die: contains spoiler.

Q asks for report because Bond is the middle of his first mission after Safin and everyone is there, watching and listening as carefully has they can. M and Moneypenny are drinking their tea while Tanner reads him mails and doesn't answer a single phone calls he receives. Even Nomi is there, faking the most bored expression she can master but trying to follow his fingers on the keyboard.

He asks 007 to report and Bond, sounding out of air in his lungs, answers yes, love? and just for a moment a Siberian winter falls in to the room: M and Eve stop drinking from their cup, Tanner puts his phone down and Nomi almost falls down her chair. It's just a split of a second but it seems to last an eternity and then Bond is speaking again, asking if he is okay. The Quartermaster find himself laughing and reassuring him that yes, darling everything is okay on his side.

The funniest part, or maybe not so funny because it makes Q heart ache a little, is that they aren't dating or even flirting? Between Bond's reinstatement for his last two mission before retirement and Madeliene disappearance with Mathilde, Bond probably went home, or to the place he has his stuff now, twice and said hello to Q three times. So begin called love and answering with darling hasn't a romantic connotation. The problem now is making everyone else understand that because M made Moneypenny deliver three modules to file, in double copy, for a change of relationship status between coworkers. No one bothers to give them to Bond and Q doesn't know if he should be feeling relieved or offended.

Q put away the modules, Bond continues to call him all love over the comeline once in a while and starts taking back souvenirs just for his Quartermaster: sometimes is a particular kind of tea, sometimes it's little tinkers he sees around and, on very blessed days, he takes back even is equipment. The day he comes back with everything at once Q makes R buy a calendar to circle that particular date so everyone can remember about it. When Bond sees it he laughs and says oh darlin' I'm greatful my hard work is appreciate before disappearing behind the elevators door.

They should talk about it, about the pet names, the presents, about Bond tendency to wait for him after a long shift to take him to dinner in some restaurant he didn't even knew it exited and they should probably talk about how they started sleeping together. Actual sleeping together, like falling-asleep-on-the-couch-and-waking-up-cuddling kinda of sleep. But Q finds tiring even thinking about that particular talk considering that James has just called him sweetheart, kissed his hair and it's Saturday, they have anywhere to be and James's new bed is too comfortable to really wake up. He cuddles against the other man's chest and fall asleep again.

(They end up talking about it: even if it's about them and not about some random subject. It happens a week before Bond is shipped for a two weeks training with the new cadets in Canada, because he's officially retired and Nomi is the new 007 but that doesn't mean James Bond could ever stop begin who he is. They're sitting around the breakfast table, Q wearing one of James's sweather and working on coding a new processor while Bond reads the paper. Madeleine wrote two days prior to let James know they both are alive and well, Mathilde is growing up everyday but it's still not safe to see her, considering that he couldn't even touch her.

It's not a particular lengthy conversation: James puts the key of his apartment in Q's hand and is this okay love? Q smiles and kisses the other man's knuckles before going back to work. If both if their eyes are a little more shiny than usual is nobody's business.)

Do you think Madeleine worries Mathilde will forget him? She's so young, only 5 years old, and while Madeleine is well aware of the developmental stages that occur in children at this age, she also knows one of the earliest memories she has is putting a bullet into Safin.

So she talks about James. Even though it hurts, even though grief floods through her at every mention of his name. Madeleine Swann sits with her daughter and talks about the man who saved the world. Not the MI6 agent, not the assassin. She talks about James.

How he took his coffee and what he ate for breakfast. How fast he drove and how he liked to swim. The soft, grumbling tones of his voice (Mathilde giggles at Madeleine's impressions). He had rough, calloused hands but feather-light touches. She whispers to Mathilde, like its a secret to be kept, "he liked to snuggle." Just as the two of them do every night.

It isn't Madeleine's job to ensure the world remembers Agent Bond, 007. Whether MI6 memorialized him for what he did or never utters his name again is no concern of hers. Her job is to hold James in her mind, and share everything she can with his daughter. So they can remember him together.

Call-sheets from the Italy shoot of the upcoming James Bond film, No Time to Die, have been put up for sale on eBay, according to Bond fan website MI6 HQ. The call-sheets reveal crucial details about the film, which was pushed from April to November.

The leaks reveal information about several characters, including Billy Magnussen’s CIA agent, Lashana Lynch’s 00 agent, and the villain, Safin. But the biggest surprises possibly come in some of film’s final scenes. The scenes’ placement in the story can be identified by the numbers attached to them. MI6 HQ says that while Spectre’s final scene was numbered 203, No Time to Die leaks confirm that scenes numbered in the 240s and 250s also exist. This corroborates the fact that at two hours and forty-three minutes long, the film is the longest Bond movie to star Daniel Craig.

No Time to Die will reportedly have an epilogue, but it won’t feature Craig’s Bond. Instead, a five-year old girl named Mathilde is mentioned in several scenes. Scene 235 is labelled: “Nomi pilots Madeleine and Mathilde to safety with island in the background.” Scene 253 reads: “Madeleine is going to tell Mathilde a story, they drive into a tunnel.”

Early reports, according to Express.co.uk, suggest that the film’s plot could deal with genetic warfare and cloning. Mathilde could therefore be a clone of Dr Madeleine Swann, played by Lea Seydoux, created by the villain Safin, played by Rami Malek.

The trailers for the film have already suggested that Madeleine and Safin are connected somehow, and reports have suggested that Safin saves a young Madeleine from drowning in a frozen lake as a child, giving rise to his obsession with her. No Time to Die is set five years after the events of Spectre, according to actor Naomie Harris, which could also suggest that Bond and Madeleine have a daughter.

The scenes with Madeleine and Mathilde were reportedly shot in September 2019 in Italy, on an island that the leaks suggest is Safin’s lair.

Other details mentioned in the leaks reveal that Billy Magnussen’s character will be involved in a third-act confrontation with Bond, a sequence involving Bond and Madeleine swimming was shot in Puglia, on IMAX, and that Contagion writer Scott Z Burns contributed to some scenes, but will not be credited on the final film.
