When to pack :
The best answer for when to pack your hospital bag is whenever you feel is best for you! The general thumb rule is to have your bag packed and prepared by 36 weeks or 37 weeks pregnant, just in case your baby arrives before the due date. Maybe consider packing your bag a week or two earlier if your pregnancy is more high-risk. Generally, it’s better to be packed early and it also is one more item you can check off your list!

☆༉ — SATORU GOJO. a flicker of a flame.
about. when satoru notices the flicker of cursed energy within your unborn child, he starts to feel the weight and nerves of becoming a father.
warnings. minors, blank and ageless blogs do not interact! sfw, fluff, expecting parents, reader is pregnant, hospitals, nerves about being parents, listen idk how gojo’s cursed technique works so here u go >:( canon verse, expecting father!gojo, fem!reader.
“i can see it…like…flickering inside of you.”
satoru carries an expression of intrigue, like a child who’s just discovered a new sensation.
you flip the page of your magazine, not bothering to spare your husband a glance while you instead choose to admire the many strollers and their offers that decorate the page. “don’t be weird, satoru.” you tap a perfectly manicured nail against the one you like most, leaning over to show the item to him.
“but it’s there… like actually there.” the sorcerer replies, keeping his voice low despite the loud ambience of the maternity ward’s waiting room. people crying, people celebrating, families already full of children gathering around to hear more exciting news. “i like that one. it’ll fit in the hallway too. do you want it in grey or in black?”your husband passes you a pen from the depths of your tote bag in his lap, letting you circle the stroller in the magazine so you know to come back to it.
this time, you do him the honours of looking up at him — a fresh glare settled on your glowing features. “satoru gojo please stop referring to our baby as an ‘it’.” you sigh in exhaustion, watching him slump in his seat because you know he hates it when you’re irritated with him. “i thought you were excited about having a baby girl. and the grey one, it goes with your eyes.”
that seems to perk him up enough, earning you a kiss to your cheek that has you smiling like a fool in the nurses office. “sorry, sorry…” satoru starts to coo warmly, a soft tone that’s usually reserved for you and his students. “it’s just that… every time i look at you, i see two vessels of cursed energy instead of one. there’s a flicker of a flame there, right where she would be. it’s blowing my mind.” he points to your bump, nestled away under the layer of his clothing since they’re the only thing that makes you feel comfortable right now.
you close your magazine slowly, fighting the flutter of your heart and the warmth that spreads through your body. you know that your husband is being cautious, overly observant and extremely over protective — being pregnant and having a baby in your line of work was dangerous. scary, even. but you knew that satoru wanted this with you, and you him. that he cared a little too hard or worried slightly too much because while he was the strongest, you’d become every target and every weakness to him.
you and your daughter.
an unborn child who may possibly have the powers of a god among men.
so, instead you tuck away the irritation that comes with your hormones and let your gaze slink over to the large man squished into the abnormally small seat of the waiting room — just to be by your side. “do you need me to explain how pregnancy works, satoru?” you quip and rest your head on your knuckles, just to make him laugh and ease up a little.
a wiry smile starts to tug at the corner of his soft, pink lips. “i’d rather you show me but i think we got the fun part nailed.” gojo’s face splits into a wide grin, making you roll your eyes. “we made her, yanno. she’s alive in there because you’re keeping her safe.”
“and you too, mister six eyes.” you tap his skull, brushing against pure white locks, as gojo leans over you affectionately — probably in demand for a kiss (which you give).
the receptionist calls your family name from the front desk — no doubt to call you in for your neonatal appointment. another set of scans to help confirm your little girl is nice and healthy before you tell the rest of your friends and family later today.
gojo wanted to hand out copies of your scans to everyone at dinner. show off.
but as you stand, satoru goes quiet, offering you his hand as aid. “do you think…do you want…” pressing his lips into a thin line, your husband mulls over his words whilst guiding you down the hall to the doctors office — nodding to the receptionist to thank her as you pass. “i hope she doesn’t have what i have. i wouldn’t wish this burden on anyone.” he looks you straight in the eye, blue eyes piercing your soul. you feel your baby move and kick, forcing you to wonder if she’ll have the same mind blowing eyes as her father. “i hope she’s like you. beautiful and strong and—“
“ours. she’ll be ours and the best parts of both of us. her daddy’s strength, bravery, good looks and her momma’s wits, pretty ‘get me what i want eyes’ and smarts too.” you laugh, bright and loud as you cut gojo off — turning to look at him with a happy smile. “if she turns out like that, the best parts of both of us she’ll be perfect. i’ll love her because you gave her to me, we can figure out the rest later.”
that seems to reassure satoru, who sags in relief by your side as he wraps an arm around you, his large palm splaying across your baby bump. “you’re right, you’re right,” he grins again, feeling her little feet mercilessly kick at his palm. “as long as she’s healthy, we’ll be fine. i love you.”
“we love you too.” you swoon a little too much.
satoru gojo will be a great father, you think, your baby girl is so lucky — she has the strongest daddy in the world and he loves her a little too much already.

Two in a Million
summary: you never thought you could love anything, or anyone, more
warnings: hospital setting, brief mention of some birth stuff
a/n: based on the cutest request
word count: 1.7k
-
Alessia is sitting in the corner of the hospital room, cradling a bundle that barely seems big enough to be real, and you’re wondering if it’s possible for a person to spontaneously combust from overwhelming, inconvenient levels of affection. It’s nearly midnight, and you’re both exhausted. She’s in this awful grey armchair that doesn’t look like it should belong in a maternity ward, but rather in an outdated office where everyone’s still doing things on paper. A flickering bulb above the chair gives the room a kind of low-rent horror movie ambience, but Alessia, hair pulled back in a messy knot and skin glowing with a sheen of sweat and exhaustion, somehow looks like she’s modelling knitwear for a Christmas catalogue.
The baby—your baby—is swaddled in a white hospital-issued blanket with a generic, utilitarian blue stripe, looking like a little bean bag that’s somehow fallen into her arms. She’s talking to it in that soft, breathless way that you didn’t even know she was capable of. The timbre of her voice is hushed and calm, like she’s afraid the baby might vanish if she speaks at a normal volume, or start screaming again, which you’ve already learned happens with the slightest provocation. It’s ludicrous, really. Alessia’s got a newborn in her arms, a tiny person whose existence just became official eight hours ago, and there’s something about it—her—the whole scene that makes your throat tighten and your chest swell with a feeling you can’t quite define but will probably overanalyse at three in the morning when Alessia’s asleep and you’re up Googling “how to stop obsessing over your own wife.”
You’re still in the hospital bed, wearing a gown that feels like it’s made from sandpaper and regrets. Your legs are aching, though for different reasons now. The baby had been a swift arrival, an early goal in the first half, but with enough of a dramatic finish that you’re already bracing yourself for when Alessia’s friends inevitably compare it to her scoring against Sweden. There’d been shouting, gripping the edges of the bed, Alessia almost crying, and then—everything seemed to go still, at least in your memory. Now you’re here, facing the surreal aftermath, and Alessia is behaving like she’s been holding babies since she was two, all natural and maternal in a way that is both endearing and, if you’re honest, a little unfair.
“How’re you feeling?” she asks, glancing up from the baby’s barely-there face with her gaze too earnest, and too concerned, because this is Alessia, who plays for Arsenal and has been to World Cups, and yet when it comes to you, she always looks like she’s not quite sure how to fix things.
“Fine,” you say. You’re not fine. Your whole body hurts, your hair is still sticking to your forehead, and you’re fairly sure you’ll never sleep again. But she’s looking at you with the baby still nestled in her arms, and you’d rather drop dead than say anything that might make her worry right now.
Alessia smiles faintly. “Liar”
“Shut up. I’m enjoying the view”
And you are. She’s wearing the t-shirt she threw on at two in the morning when your waters broke—a white one with faded print of some bar in Ibiza that you both went to on a holiday five years ago, when everything was tan lines and free drinks and an overwhelming sense that your whole life would be one, endless summer. There are little details that rush back to you when you see that shirt: the way Alessia had tried to convince you to go skinny-dipping at three in the morning; the taste of tequila on her lips when you finally pulled her away from the bar; the sickening realisation, two weeks after you got back to London, that you never actually wanted to live without her.
You’ve become fixated on the way her hand cups the back of the baby’s head, as if she’s afraid that at any moment it might just float away, like a helium balloon. She hasn’t stopped staring at it since the nurse handed it over, which makes you wonder if there’s some kind of brainwashing involved, because you’ve seen her focus on a football before and she wasn’t this intense. She’s watching it breathe, which you suppose you should be doing too, but instead, you’re thinking about the shape of her mouth as she talks to it—small, slow movements, like she’s enunciating every word for the first time.
You half-laugh, half-sigh, trying to shift your weight in the bed without accidentally setting off some kind of alarm. “You know, if I didn’t know any better, I’d say you’ve gone soft”
Alessia looks up, a spark of mischief in her eye, because she knows exactly what you’re doing. “You should talk,” she says. “I heard you crying during labour”
“I wasn’t crying, I was pushing,” you argue, even though you were crying, and you both know it. “That was a push noise”
“A push noise,” she repeats, one eyebrow lifting. “Like a kettle”
“Like a warrior”
“A warrior who sounded suspiciously like she was going to ask for gas and air three times in a row,” she says, and you’re about to reply when the baby makes a sound—an indistinct sort of whimper that cuts through your bickering like a referee’s whistle.
You both freeze, your eyes locking on the tiny human, who has yet to fully open their eyes or make any indication of having a personality. But still, the room falls into that same unnatural stillness that seems to accompany the presence of a baby, and for a moment, you’re not sure if you should even breathe too loudly. Alessia is holding it—him—closer now, rocking him with a rhythm that is suspiciously perfect, as if she’s been practising in secret all these years. You wouldn’t put it past her. She’s probably been sneaking into maternity wards for extra training sessions after practice.
“He’s—perfect,” Alessia whispers, her voice softening as though she’s confiding in you some great, earth-shattering secret.
You stare at her, and then at the baby. “You say that now,” you mutter. “Wait until he starts throwing tantrums”
Alessia laughs, and it’s this little breathy thing that makes you want to do something reckless, like kiss her, or propose all over again, or tattoo her name across your forehead. You’re a mess. Maybe it’s the hormones, or maybe it’s just Alessia, who’s always been able to unravel you with nothing but the curve of her smile or the tilt of her head.
She looks down at the baby again, and you notice for the first time that her hands are trembling slightly, just a barely-there tremor that only you would recognise, because you know her in ways that no one else does, not even Ella, who’s still texting you memes about Arsenal’s latest loss. There’s something almost comically endearing about Alessia sitting there, trying so hard to hold it together, while holding a baby that weighs less than a football and smells faintly of baby powder and something else—something sweet, and soft, and human.
You find yourself thinking back to that night in Ibiza again, when Alessia had told you, in a drunken slur, that she wanted to have kids with you someday. You’d laughed, not because you didn’t believe her, but because the thought seemed so insane, so far away from the lives you were living then. It was all sunburns and sandy sheets, overpriced rental cars and bad pop songs; the idea of a baby, of this, was a fantasy you didn’t know how to hold on to.
And now he’s here, eight hours old, and Alessia is looking at him like she’s never looked at anything before. Not the football pitch, not you, not even the last slice of pizza on a hungover Sunday morning. It’s like she’s seeing the world for the first time, and you’re seeing her see it, and the whole thing makes you feel like you’re floating just above the surface of the room, hovering somewhere between disbelief and a kind of maddening love.
You clear your throat. “Alessia?”
She looks up, startled, like she’d forgotten you were even there. “Yeah?”
“Don’t drop him,” you say, and you’re half-joking, half-serious, because you’re still getting used to the idea that this is your life now—a life where Alessia Russo is holding your son, and you’re trying not to pass out from the sheer, outrageous joy of it all.
“Please,” she scoffs, but there’s a glimmer of anxiety in her eyes, just enough to make you smile. “I’ve got it”
And you believe her, because she’s Alessia, and if there’s one thing she’s never done, it’s let you down. Even if there was that one time in Paris with the mix-up at the airport and the missed flight, but that’s a story for another time.
For now, you’re content to watch as she carefully places the baby in the small, plastic crib beside your bed, and you realise, with a sudden and startling clarity, that you’re not scared anymore. Or at least, not scared in the way you thought you’d be. It’s more of an excited kind of fear, the kind that prickles at the edges of your consciousness and makes you want to grab Alessia’s hand and run, just for the thrill of it.
She straightens up, stretching her arms above her head, and you notice that her t-shirt is still riding up slightly, exposing a strip of skin that you’ve kissed a thousand times but which still feels like uncharted territory now, because everything feels new, like a fresh coat of paint on a familiar wall.
“Hey,” you say, your voice barely above a whisper. “Come here”
She does, and you pull her close, ignoring the ache in your legs, and kiss her like it’s still that night in Ibiza and nothing else matters except the taste of salt on her lips and the way she laughs when you tell her you love her. She pulls back, her forehead resting against yours, and you can feel the dampness of her breath on your cheek.
“We did it,” she whispers, and there’s a kind of wonder in her voice that you haven’t heard in a long time.
“Yeah,” you say, your eyes drifting towards the baby, who’s sleeping now, as though nothing in the world could ever disturb him. “We really did”

Aim for the Sky Part 15 | Rooster x Reader
Summary: It's time for Rose to make her grand entrance. No turning back now. All Bradley knows for sure is that he can handle anything when he's with his girls.
Warnings: Fluff, angst, adult language, lactation kink, swearing, pregnancy and labor, DILF Roo
Length: 3600 words
Pairing: Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw x Female Reader
Aim for the Sky masterlist. This was written to accompany my series Is It Working For You? along with a bunch of my one-shots and other series, but it can be read on its own! Check my masterlist for the reading order.
When your boss sent you home from work a little early to rest, you didn't complain. When Bradley texted you to let you know he'd be a little late but that he'd take care of dinner when he got there, you didn't mind at all. It gave you time to take a little power nap with Tramp before you ultimately got up and got undressed.
Your belly felt tight and tender, and even the fabric of your shirt skimming along your skin was almost too much. You tossed it across the room toward the hamper, and it landed on the hospital bags that you and Bradley had packed and ready to go when Rose decided she was ready to make her grand appearance. You were ready now. You had to roll your shoulders and stretch your back, and even unhooking your hideous maternity bra was a chore.
"Oh," you sighed when you caught sight of yourself in the mirror. You were surprised by your breasts. They looked that good. Maybe your husband was on to something.
After striking a pose and turning to the side, you stripped down to your underwear. He should be home shortly now, and you could already see your breast milk starting to bead on your left nipple. Just thinking about the way Bradley reacted to you left you scrambling to put on some of your sexiest underwear. Okay, so the sexiest pair you could find with some stretch to them.
Tramp went running for the front door before you heard the Bronco in the driveway, and you started to follow him before you had a sudden, painful cramp in your abdomen. "Ow," you gasped, reaching for the side of your belly where you could feel your daughter stretching. You paused and held onto the doorframe as the pain started to subside, but as soon as you stepped out into the hallway, you felt it again. "Rose," you scolded softly. You were just a handful of days away from your due date, and Dr. Morris wanted her to stay put as long as possible. The uncomfortable sensation drifted away again as you walked toward the living room, and you caught sight of your husband running up the walkway through the front window.
When he opened the door and found you standing there topless, your heart skipped around in your chest. He licked his lips, and his gaze sank down your body, taking in every inch, but then he honed in on your breasts. Oh, he knew he was in for a treat as you smiled, and you could feel your milk cooling on your skin.
"Hi, Daddy," you greeted, and he took two steps closer to you as you felt another cramp tear through your midsection. "Ow!" you gasped, looking down at your feet and taking a step backwards as the pain was followed by dampness on your legs. "I think... oh my god. I think I just wet myself!"
You were kind of mortified, and all you wanted to do was run into Bradley's arms, but you froze as he dropped everything he was holding. "Sweetheart. I think your water broke."
"What?" you gasped, already somehow realizing what was going on as your stomach ached with another contraction. "Oh!"
"I think this is it, Sweetheart."
Bradley looked surprised as he collected you into his arms, and you were trying to remember everything Dr. Morris told you to help you prepare for this moment, but you just started to panic instead. "Oh my god," you groaned, doubling over in pain as you felt a little more liquid trickle down your legs onto the floor. "It hurts. And I'm making a mess," you gasped, holding onto Bradley's forearm for dear life.
"It's okay," he coaxed softly. "Look at me." You tried to meet his eyes through your unshed tears, but he was all blurry. "Let's get you on the couch while I grab everything we need for the hospital, okay?"
You tried to nod as you took deep breath after deep breath while he quickly covered the couch cushions with the big throw blanket. Then you settled in and rolled onto your side in a tight ball as Bradley disappeared from the room.
"Rosie," you moaned, "knock it off." When you squeezed your eyes closed and focused on each breath, the pain subsided a tiny bit. You could hear Bradley in the bedroom, and it sounded like he was throwing things around. There were some muffled obscenities, and then you heard his boots on the floor again.
"It's okay," he promised, and you cracked your eyes open to see him kneeling on the floor in front of you. His eyes were soft and sincere, concern mixing with excitement as he held up his worn out UVA shirt for you. "Let's get you dressed and get out of here," he said, helping you sit up.
"What about Tramp?" you asked as he pulled the shirt over your head.
"Nat will come over and pick him up in about an hour."
You threaded your arms through the sleeves as you said, "I need to text my parents."
"I already did," he confirmed, helping you to your feet as it felt like another painful wave crashed against you. "I'll keep them informed. You don't have to worry about anything other than yourself right now. I swear I've got this."
You nodded and stood, and Bradley carefully replaced your soaked lace underwear with his gray sweatpants after he toweled you off.
"That should at least be good enough to get you to the hospital," he muttered, standing before you in his flight suit and combat boots. He ran his thumb along your cheek and smiled as he whispered, "I love you so much, Baby Girl. We're almost parents."
"Roo," you whined breathlessly as you clutched at your belly. "It hurts."
He took your hand in his and led you toward the door with two overnight bags on his other arm. "Let's go."
--------------------------
Bradley kissed the few tears that trickled down your cheek as he got you situated in the blue Bronco. This would be the last time he buckled you in while you had your big belly, and he was simultaneously a little sad and yet so excited. He was happy he took the time to install the car seats in both Broncos, and now all he could think about was driving his tiny daughter and wife back home. A sense of calm took over his body.
"I love you," he whispered against your lips, and then he leaned down to kiss your bump. "And I love you, too, Nugget."
"Roo," you gasped, and he knew he needed to get going. He practically vibrated with anticipation as he walked around the Bronco and climbed in to start the engine. Your eyes were squeezed closed, but when he reached out and took your hand, you let him hold it while he drove. You were breathing so erratically, he was a little afraid you were going to pass out before he could even get you to the hospital.
"Do you think you're having contractions?" he asked, making a turn with just his left hand.
"Yes," you snapped, sucking in a deep, shaky breath. "I'm pretty fucking certain."
Dr. Morris mentioned something about timing how far apart the contractions were and also how long they lasted. He counted in his head while you muttered obscenities under your breath like you were putting a hex on someone. It was less than a minute before you leaned back against the seat with a sheen of sweat on your face and neck.
"I'm sorry I snapped at you, Bradley," you whispered, breathing a little easier as you rubbed your belly with your right hand. "It feels like she's trying to push her way out through my belly button."
"I don't care if you snap at me," he promised, running his thumb along your knuckles. You could do absolutely anything you wanted to him, and he would handle it. The last time you were in the hospital was when you fell at work, and he had been terrified that something happened to the baby or that you were severely injured. "As long as my girls are okay, I'm okay."
"That's sweet," you whispered, eyes closed as you took some steady breaths this time. But the peaceful environment didn't last long before you were groaning and swearing again. "Holy shit." As far as he could tell, as he pulled into the hospital parking lot, your contractions were about five or six minutes apart.
"Were you having contractions like this all day?" he asked when he shifted into park.
"No!" you practically screamed. "Do I look like I could go to work like this?"
Your eyes were wild, sweat was beading on your brow, and you were gripping the dashboard for dear life while you made a hissing noise. He kind of wanted to laugh or make a smart comment, but he thought better of it and simply said, "No, Sweetheart. It was silly of me to ask."
You nodded and breathed sharply through your nose before saying, "It's subsiding for now. Let's go inside where I can leak more amniotic fluid in peace."
At least your sense of humor was slightly intact. Bradley grabbed the bags and took your hand as you walked swiftly toward the entrance for Labor & Delivery. "I'm having a baby," you announced loudly to the nurse at the reception desk who looked at the two of you with mild interest.
"You can go ahead and have a seat," she replied.
"No! I look like I pissed my pants!" you told her, gesturing wildly to your crotch. "And another contraction is going to start soon! Please! Do something!"
Bradley cleared his throat and kissed your sweaty forehead before he asked the receptionist, "Can I give you her name or something to speed up the check-in process? There's about to be some strong language coming from my wife in, oh, I'd say the next two minutes or so."
He watched her close out of the software she was working in and open something new. With you tucked against his side, sucking in air, he told her all of the information she asked for. Just as you were receiving you wristbands, you practically shouted, "Fuck!" as you grabbed at your belly again.
Bradley wanted to expedite this process for you, but the best he could do was offer his hand which you squeezed until you were in tears as the nurse put your wristband on. "Let me check which room we can put you in," she muttered as you whispered 'cocksucker son of a bitch'.
When your contraction seemed to have eased up, you paced around in a small circle. It really did look like you wet his gray sweatpants, and his UVA shirt was damp from your delicious tits leaking through the fabric. But you still looked adorable to him as you let your hand rest on your forehead and said, "I'm sorry I just called you a cocksucker son of a bitch. I didn't mean it, Roo."
"I didn't think you did, Sweetheart," he replied. There was something about being in the hospital, holding the overnight bags and watching you freak out that left his heart pounding. "I can't wait to meet the Nugget," he whispered, running his fingers through his hair as you rearranged the chairs in the deserted waiting area for something to do. "I'm gonna be a dad."
He was deep in thought about his own father, vowing that he'd stick around longer than Goose did. Bradley missed out on too much with his own father, but Rosie was going to deserve the whole world. She already did, because she was half you. Like mother, like daughter. You were aggressively groaning the f word and dragging one of the chairs around noisily. You were perfect, and he was going to do everything he could at work to make sure he was around more and deployed less.
"Bradshaw." Bradley turned when his name was called, and there was a new nurse standing there saying, "The room is ready."
------------------------
"I don't want to do this," you sobbed and hiccupped. "Everything hurt a lot more than you thought it would, and you were convinced you were going to throw up or poop in the hospital bed. Maybe both. Maybe both at the same time.
Bradley was bustling around, talking to nurses and asking where Dr. Morris was while you shivered in your own sweat in a damp cotton gown while your boobs leaked milk all over the place, and that's when another contraction started up again. Why did you convince yourself that having a baby was a good idea? Why did you work so hard and for so long to make this happen? The pain was so intense, your brain could focus on nothing else, and you had the dizzy sensation that you were about to roll onto the floor.
"Roo," you gasped, grabbing at anything you could reach while you tried to think about the line of code you'd been working on in your lab about eight hours ago. Numbers danced behind your eyes as your husband rushed to your side with his rosy cheeks and his messy hair. He looked cute with the sleeves of his flight suit tied around his waist and his black undershirt clinging to his chest and biceps. But the little smile on his face made you wince. He was excited for the baby. It wasn't like you weren't, you just didn't see how you were possibly going to make it through this entire ordeal.
"Baby Girl," he crooned, gently wiping the sweat from your forehead. "Dr. Morris will be here soon. You're doing great. Rosie's heart rate is perfection. They are keeping an eye on your blood pressure."
Maybe it hurt so much because of your preeclampsia. You had no idea. And you were too wound up to even attempt to talk to the nurses about it now. All you could do was wait for the pain medicine they supposedly gave you to start working while you tried to focus on not passing out.
"I can't do this," you whispered, shaking your head as you tried to roll onto your side. You were hooked up to too many monitors. Suddenly all you could hear was beeping. Tears filled your eyes as the pain ramped up again, and there was so much pressure in your pelvis you were convinced you were going to pass out.
But Bradley was right there by your side, and he took your hand in his. It was like he knew what was happening before you did. Sweat beaded on your neck and your upper lip, and when you looked at him, he guided you onto your side.
"It's okay," he coaxed, running his fingers along your neck. And then you emptied the contents of your stomach onto the floor at his feet. It was disgusting, and you whimpered as Bradley eased you onto your back once again. He took a towel from one of the nurses and cleaned you up before dropping it to the floor. "You feel a little bit better?"
"No," you groaned, reaching for your stomach as Rose tried to make a violet escape. "She's lost fucking her mind in there."
You squeezed your eyes shut against the pain while Bradley wiped up your vomit and then knelt next to you. "Come on Rosie. We both want to meet you," he crooned, placing one big hand on your belly. "But can't you come out without a fight?" He kissed your wrist as you cried. "Come on, Nugget."
His hand stroking you softly eased your nerves a little. And then Dr. Morris arrived, and you knew it was time. You could do this, because you had no choice. You and Bradley were ready to become parents, and right now you were so close.
"Your blood pressure is creeping up," Dr. Morris said, voice a little stern. "Let's see how long and hard you can push before we get into trouble."
"Trouble?" you and Bradley asked in unison as his fingers wrapped around yours.
She just nodded vaguely in response as she looked at all of the instrumentation screens again. "I want you to push."
Bradley's brown eyes were on your face as you nodded, at what you weren't exactly sure. "Roo," you whispered through your tears.
"I'm right here, Sweetheart. I'm not going anywhere. Hold my hand and push."
------------------------------
"Fuck you!"
Bradley watched his wife's face as the obscenities flowed freely.
"Fuck you, Bradley. This is bullshit," you told him, squeezing his hand so tight, he didn't know if his pinky finger would survive. "The painkillers did nothing. Nothing. Do you understand me?"
"I do," he promised, trying not to wince in pain that he knew had no comparison to what you were feeling.
"Keep pushing," Dr. Morris said for about the thousandth time, and you growled in response.
"I am." Your teeth were clenched, and Bradley didn't know how you were still hanging on. Your blood pressure readouts looked really high to him, but he didn't want you to worry about it, so he said nothing. But he was scared. It was after midnight now, and you looked exhausted. Even more drained than you did during those early days of your pregnancy where you couldn't even eat and only wanted to sleep.
Sweat dripped down your temple, and your teeth chattered nonstop as you squeezed his hand until he felt his knuckles pop. But you pushed and pushed just like you were told. You were the strongest, most tenacious person he knew, and even though you clearly wanted to give up, you weren't going to.
"I love you," he whispered as you glared at him.
"Now is not the time," you snapped, and he couldn't help but smile a little bit.
"Okay. Later then. When I can love on you and Rosie simultaneously."
"I just want her out," you told him, voice pleading, like you trusted him above anyone else to be able to help you.
But there wasn't much more he could do. He'd been kneeling next to the bed in his flight suit for what felt like days while you mashed his fingers and called him a fucking prick. All he could think to say was, "I'm not leaving your side until she's born."
"We've got progress," Dr. Morris announced just as the machine hooked up to your blood pressure cuff started squawking loudly. "Almost there."
Bradley kept his focus on your face; everyone else would take care of the rest. "You're so close," he whispered, leaning in to kiss your damp cheek. "Rosie's almost here, and then you can rest."
"It's too hard," you sobbed and sucked in a deep breath before clenching your jaw and pushing.
"But you're doing great, Baby Girl. You're so strong." He could hear the nurses cautioning Dr. Morris about your blood pressure, but he pressed his forehead against yours for a beat and said, "Just a little bit more."
He held onto you and wiped at your brow as you looked at him through your tears, and a few minutes later, he heard the announcement he'd been waiting months for.
"Congratulations. A perfect little girl. Time of birth, 1:02 a.m. on March twenty-second," Dr. Morris' voice rang out, followed by the cries of a newborn.
Bradley smiled and whispered, "That's our perfect little girl, Sweetheart."
"It's Rosie," you sobbed, and Bradley kissed your lips while you tried to catch your breath. Your grip on his hand finally loosened, and your tears eased up as you looked toward everyone in scrubs weighing and measuring the baby. When you met his eyes, you whispered, "We have a daughter."
"A Nugget," he confirmed with a nod, swallowing past his tears as one of the nurses finally carried her over. She was naked and crying, and as soon as Bradley saw her, he was head over heels in love.
"You hold her first, Daddy," you whispered, and he reached out with slightly shaky hands toward the second love of his life.
"Oh my god. Look at her," he gasped as Rose was placed in his arms for the first time. His knees and back were killing him, but he'd stay kneeling on this hard floor for the rest of his life if he got to stare at his daughter's eyes fluttering open and closed as she looked up at him and snuggled against his chest.
"She really is perfect," you whispered, and he nodded, unable to look away as her tiny lips parted in yawn. It was the most adorable thing he'd ever seen in his life. She somehow already looked just like you. The weight of responsibility didn't scare him one bit as he stared at the daughter he'd wanted for so long. You and she were his family. When he kissed her forehead, her skin was impossibly soft, and his heart confirmed what he'd already known for months: he would do anything for either of his girls.
"Rose Carole Bradshaw," he said, voice deep with emotion as he carefully placed her in your arms. "We already love you so much."
---------------------------------
I have been waiting ages to write this, and if you're still here, you've probably been waiting ages to read this chapter! Rose has arrived, and Roo and BG are about to embark on a crazy, new adventure! Thank you for reading! And thanks @beyondthesefourwalls and @bellaireland1981

ꨄ requested: anonymous
ꨄ genre: fluff
ꨄ summary: you and spencer get into an argument over something as silly. while he's too busy being stubborn, you're busy going into labor.
"god, spencer! why do you act like this?" you gritted out between clenched teeth, trying to ignore the sharp pain in your back. you braced yourself on a desk with one hand and placed the other on your lower back. jj came up behind you and placed her hand on your shoulder.
"y/n, i think you're going-"
"stay out of this!" you snapped at her, standing up straight and zeroing in on spencer. she pulled her hands back and slowly backed away.
"i'm not acting like anything other than a protective husband! i'm not the bad guy for not wanting you to go out into the field when you can go into labor any second, you're lucky enough that i'm allowing you to be out of bed." he huffed and ran his hand through his hair.
arguing at work with your husband in front of many people, probably wouldn't be on the list of acceptable things to do at work but you're lucky that your boss is your best friend. emily would ve offered you two her office to argue in but she was busy taking important phone calls and doing paperwork.
"you're allowing me? oh, please, you don't dictate what i can and can't do." another sharp pain shot through your body, only this time it spread to your lower stomach and the pain intensified at least ten times. you leaned onto the desk, this time placing both hands on the table.
spencer was too caught up in yelling to notice that you had stopped arguing with him. his hands flying everywhere in front of him as he went on and on about "doctor's orders" and how he would have to have a word with emily for letting you stay at work despite how far along you were.
you had planned to let him continue talking but then you felt a gush of wetness trickle down your legs. "spencer, please shut up! my water just broke but you're too busy going on about something stupid to notice."
"what?" he stopped in his tracks, his eyes trailing down your backside and noticing the dark gray spot spreading on your gray maternity pants.
he rushed to your side and placed his hand on your lower back, his head was swarming with thoughts because he really didn't know what to do. he let out a shaky breath as you let out a moan of pain.
"okay- um, we need to get to the hospital." he grabbed the car keys off of your desk and picked up your bags. he wrapped his arms around you and helped you upright so he could guide you out of the office.
spencers heart beat increased as the realization dawned on him: he was about to become a dad.

Aegon being the absolute worry wart disaster parent will never not mean everything to me. he's just this ball of anxiety and hel's so in love with him but so (affectionately) sick of his shit.
My little thoughts on when the twins were born. A modern take, because I just can't stop thinking about them.
The start...
Helaena decided that, since she was quite young when she became pregnant with the twins, that she should have them at the hospital.
Alicent and Aegon both agreed that it would be a better idea, and they both helped her pack her bag for when she would go into labor.
Aegon snuck in a stress ball that is shaped like a lady bug for Helaena.
When her water broke, Helaena was very calm about it.
since it was the middle of the night, she woke Aegon up and told him to get the bag and start the car.
Aegon was freaking out and ended up waking up the whole house (They are, again, young. So, they still live at home) because he kept screaming '"The babies are coming!!"
Criston and Alicent came sprinting out of their rooms to see Aegon pulling on clothes that don't match and shoving on shoes. Helaena is folding a blanket and waiting for Aegon at the bottom of the stairs.
Criston offered to drive because Aegon looks completely out of it. So, Criston and Alicent sit in the front, while Aegon and Helaena sit in the middle of the car. Aegon keeps telling her to breath and Helaena just keeps saying "Aegon, if you tell me to breathe one more time I will push you out of the car."
The labors...
While Daeron, Aemond, and Criston are in the hallway pacing back and forth, Alicent and Aegon are holding onto Helaena's hands as she curses at Aegon.
"Never again! Do you hear me, Aegon!? Never!"
Aegon's hand is crushed at that point but he just keeps kissing her sweaty head and telling her she's doing great.
Alicent is pushing back Helaena's hair and telling her the same.
The twins were born healthy and in the early morning.
The aftermath...
While Aegon is holding onto Jaehaera, Helaena has Jaehaerys resting on her chest. They had brainstormed for hours trying to think of names, and with a little help from Daeron, those were the ones that they chose.
Daeron is jumping with excitement and is begging to hold the twins while Aemond is fighting the smile off of his face (he's failing).
Alicent and Criston are looking at all of them like the proud parents that they are. They all get to hold one of the twins (Alicent holds both of them because she has grandma rights)
When they are all finally allowed to go home, Helaena and Aegon tuck the twins between them in their bed and watch as their small little children breath in and out in their sleep. They both look amazed by them. Amazed that they made the humans that are just sleeping right in front of them.
Aegon looks up at Helaena, "You did it, Hel."
Helaena looks up at Aegon with a wide smile, "We're parents." Aegon nodded his head and leaned over to rub his nose on hers before kissing her nose lightly, "We're parents."
#him freaking out over her water breaking while she's just patiently waiting at the door#he's carrying those damn bags (that have way too much stuff in it cause he kept insisting “well we might need it. lets pack it to be safe”)#Criston definitely helped her get in the car while Aegons carrying two big bags a suitcase and a backpack (may or may not be hyperbole)#he's a good dad and lets her claw away at him while they walk across the lawn to the car. tessing her when she curses under her breath.#he looks back at aegon who might be wearing a maternity shirt he found on the floor and sweat pants#his shoes don't match#then they get to the hospital and he like... fakes being calm so he can be in the room with her#he's gotta give his son a hug and a pep talk#tells him she's fine. she's strong and he'll be a great dad#Helaena's happy he's there but need him to never come near her in the child making manner EVER again#they admired there kids for hours at a time the whole first week#they're such good parents#aegon ii targaryen#helaena targaryen#helaegon#alicent hightower#aemond targaryen#daeron targaryen#modern au#jaehaera targaryen#jaehaerys targaryen#ser criston cole#alicole#but like platonic#they are parents cause i said so#hotd headcanon#headcanon#hotd#Helaegon are my life

hawks x pregnant reader?... either his kid or someone else's doesn't matter, as long as he's loving sweet and spoiling tf out the baby ❤️ he would be soooo good w postpartum care. im sure he's helped deliver kids in emergency situations - 🌕
thank you for the request! this is adorable <33 sorry this took a while </3 schools been kicking my ass
but anyways
this man is literally meant to be a father
when you told him you were pregnant, his reaction was: “we’re having a baby?” (shocked) -> “we’re having a baby?” (terrified) -> “we’re having a baby?!” (over the moon ecstatic)
your pregnancy wasn’t planned, so admittedly he was very nervous. he always expected to have kids when he had taken a load off of his hero work, and as soon as you asked if you two should reconsider, he immediately stopped you
“no, no, no. i’m.. i’m ready. as long as you are.”
of course he wifed you up IMMEDIATELY
he can’t have you walking around with his baby without a ring on your finger!
for a short period of time, it was extremely stressful and hectic. you wanted to get your wedding done early on in your pregnancy so you could still fit into your dream dress, and keigo was balancing trying to work a lot to try and make the city the most secure he could for when the baby arrived while also wanting to be home with you, but you two found a way to do it. you postponed your honeymoon until a few months after the baby was born (hey, you’d need it then anyways), so the beginning of your marriage was filled with baby-proofing your now shared apartment and setting up a nursery
everyday when he’d wake you up, he’d kiss you on the forehead, then on your growing bump
this man would come home EVERYDAY with baby stuff, “i saw it in a store while on patrol, wouldn’t this be perfect?”
plus, he’d find the exact vitamins you should take and got them for you, wanting you and the baby to be as healthy as possible
he’d insist you don’t lift a single finger, especially since you went through a lot of stress early on with rapidly planning your wedding, but you convinced him to let you be able to help with the baby’s room
whenever you two are alone together, his hand is like, CONSTANTLY on your stomach
he cried when he felt the baby kick
you guys would celebrate every trimester with a little cake with candles on it
you often got late night cravings, and you always told him not to worry about it, but he insisted because he just so happened to be craving the same thing, so it really wasn’t a problem
rubs your back and holds your hair during morning sickness, and is so patient with you with mood swings
when you really started to show and you couldn’t fit into your old clothes, you broke down crying about how you felt so bad about yourself, and he was genuinely so confused because you had never looked more beautiful to him
nevertheless, he took you out shopping the next day for maternity clothes
he’d love buying onesies and bringing them home to “show off” to the baby, aka holding the onesie up to your stomach
“just remember that daddy picked this one out for you, not mommy, so this one has to be your favorite, okay?”
“you are gonna be the best dressed baby in town”
he’d also have the room filled with toys
“oh, i just saw it in a store window and thought it’d be perfect”
you actually had to stop him bc you were quickly running out of room
he’d have your hospital bag packed and ready by the door a month and a half before you were due
so when your water broke, this man was READY
he was right next to you the whole time, encouraging you and letting you squeeze his hand as hard as you needed
so when the baby was finally born, you handed them to him, and he was so, so scared
it all suddenly felt so real
and the baby looked like a perfect combination of the two of you. but they had your eyes. your perfect, loving eyes
he tried to bite back the tears as he gently brushed his finger along the baby’s face
“hey there.. i’m your daddy.. nice to finally meet you, you’ve been giving your mommy lotsa problems these past few months, kiddo.”
he’d kiss their head, still trying to hold back tears. he promised himself that he would be the best goddamn father he could be. better than his deadbeat dad ever could be. your baby would never doubt that they were loved, they’d never wonder where there next meal would come from, and they sure as hell would never be scared of him
postpartum was a bit hard for you, but keigo was there every step of the way. he was a boat in a dark sea, and you knew that you weren’t going through it alone. he got as much time off of work as he could to try and be there for you and the baby, but he still never felt like it was enough
he’d always make sure you knew you were absolutely adored no matter what your brain was telling you, and made sure to take as many of the responsibilities off of you as possible on particularly hard days
not once did you get up at night to feed them or change their diaper. he would always immediately turn the baby monitor off, creeping quietly down the hallway to their room, and would stay with them as long as it took for them to get back to sleep. he was used to having a fucked up sleep schedule, so this was no problem for him
he takes pictures constantly
everyone at work is constantly getting updates on the baby, and you guys started taking monthly family photos, which he rotates out on his desk
you guys know how (unfortunately) a lot of women have to beg their husbands to take care of the baby so they can go shower?
well that’s not you
as soon he gets home, he scoops the baby up, telling you that it’s your time now
“i’ve been gone all day! it’s my turn with the baby, go on, i already started the bath for you” and the bathroom has lit candles, a bath bomb in the warm tub, and one of those little bathtub desk things for a drink and an ipad (yall pls know what i’m talking about 😭)
it’s a constant competition for the baby saying “mama” or “dada” first
one day, the baby just would not. stop. crying. no matter what you guys did, it seems that they would never cease. overstimulated and running out of ideas, keigo strapped a baby wrap to his chest and stuck them in it
“keigo, what are you doing?”
“we’re goin’ for a ride. it always helps me calm down”
“wh- you can’t take the baby flying!”
“they’re my kid, they’ll be fine!”
“oh my god- okay, don’t go too fast, or i swear to god-“
“relax, baby, i got this” he flashed his charming smile at you, and you only sighed
“be back in one piece, okay?”
despite being known as the man who’s too fast for his own good, keigo enjoyed a calm, slow flight. as soon as he hit the air, the baby seemed to immediately stop crying; and as the baby looked up at him with those big, round eyes, keigo realized just how lucky he was to be able to fall in love with those eyes twice in his life
“there ya go kiddo, i knew you just needed some air. just like your dad, hm?”
and he had never felt more proud

The sun had now began to rise, casting a golden color across the sky as I sat nervously in the passenger seat of Chris’s car, my hand clutching the hospital bag like it was a lifeline. Today was the day we had waited for, the day our lives would change forever. After months of preparing ourselves, endless conversations and debates about baby names and painting the nursery a soft shade of orange we were about to meet our little one. Chris was driving with a focused gaze I hadn’t seen before, his knuckles were white as he gripped the steering wheel.
Every so often he would spare glances at me, his blue eyes shining with excitement. “Are you ready for this?” he asked, his voice being a mix of joy and disbelief at whats going to happen today. I turned to him, my heart racing as I speak. “I think so. I’ve never been more ready for anything in my life,” I replied, feeling butterflies fluttering in my stomach. The thought of actually becoming a parent was almost hard to believe . When we finally arrived at the hospital, the adrenaline kicked in.
We rushed through the automatic doors, our hearts pounding all together. The bright lights and the familiar smell of sanitary welcomed us as we checked in and were hushed towards the maternity section. The atmosphere was filled with anticipation but not just ours but from families around us, each with their own maternity story. After what felt like forever, it was time for me to be called in. Chris held my hand tightly as we walked together into the delivery room. My heart raced as I settled onto the hospital bed and feeling the cool sheets under me.
Nurses huddled around while preparing equipment for the delivery while Chris stood by my side, whispering soft words of motivation. Hours passed with the soft rhythm of contractions guiding us through the whole experience. Chris was never far from me and his presence felt like a warm blanket of comfort. He kept running his hands through my hair, his calming voice reminding me that we were in this together. “You’re doing amazing,” he softly whispered, his faith in me growing by the second. Finally, after what felt like an ongoing battle of will and strength, the moment arrived.
I could feel the overwhelming urge to push, and with each contraction, I used every ounce of strength I had left. In those intense moments, Chris’s eyes became my own. “You’ve got this, ma,” he reassured me, and I leaned into that support. With one final push and an intense surge of energy I didn’t know I had, we heard the most beautiful sound-our baby’s first ever cry. It was like music to our ears.
Suddenly, everything else faded away around us, the pain, the noise, the world outside. In that instant, all that mattered was the life that had just entered into our world. The doctor gently handed our baby to me, and my heart twisted with joy. I looked down and there they were, our little bundle of happiness in soft white blankets. Chris’s breath caught in his throat as he came closer with his eyes wide, filled with emotion all kinds of emotions. “Can I hold them?” he asked, his voice trembling with excitement. “Of course,” I smiled, shifting so he could take our baby.
Chris cradled our little one against his chest, and I watched as he radiated with pure love. He kissed their tiny forehead, an expression of shock shadowing his face. “You did it. You brought us this miracle,” he whispered, his voice thick with emotion coming straight from the heart. Chris looked down at our baby as if they were the most precious treasure in the world. “I want to do skin-to-skin,” he said and I could see the excitement radiating from him. The nurses smiled approvingly and helped him gently remove his shirt, placing our baby against his bare chest.
The warmth of the moment hugged us as Chris’s skin touched our child’s delicate body. He looked at me, letting the little one into his now vulnerable heart. “Can you believe this?” he said softly, his voice barely above a whisper. Our little one squirmed, their little hand reaching for where Chris’s heartbeat lies. I could see a connection forming, a bond that would last a lifetime. Tears filled my eyes as I watched the two of the most important people in my life together.
It was a moment of pure beauty, one I will cherish forever. Chris looked at me and grinned, as his face radiated with joy. “We’re parents,” he said, still star struck, “and this is just the beginning.” In that room surrounded by the warmth of new beginnings, we held each other close, both over the moon and overwhelmed by all of it. Our family was here, and we were ready for the wonderful adventure ahead.

hi! could i make a tim bradford x shy!reader request where shy!reader is pregnant, and she decides to visit tim at the station since she’s on maternity leave. but while she’s visiting tim at the station, all of a sudden her water breaks, so her and tim both start to panic and rush to the hospital. luckily, they make it in time to the hospital, and then eventually she gives birth to a baby girl.
hopefully that makes sense!🤍
It absolutely makes sense! Thanks for the shy!reader request, I love it so much!! This could probably act as a part 2 for the firefighter fic or any of the other pregnant!reader x Tim stories, too!
Warnings: pregnancy and labor, teasing, fluff!! 2.0k+ words
Is it My Turn to Panic?
Standing in the new nursery and organizing the freshly washed baby clothes, you’re happier than you anticipated. People warned you that the last month or two of your pregnancy could be agony, always hot or tired, or worse, on bed rest. But you feel good – great, even. You know that’s because of Tim, though. He’s been by your side for every mood swing, weird craving, and uncomfortable moment. Glancing down at your stomach when you feel a kick, you think your baby is probably thinking about Tim, too.
Once the clothes are folded, you put them in the dresser Tim assembled last night while you took a hot bath. He asked you not to do anything, to take it easy, but you get bored and lonely when he’s not home. As the pile on the dresser dwindles, you sit in the rocking chair by the window, enjoying being in your home, the one you share with your husband and soon your child.
When you pick up your phone, smiling at the picture of Tim on your lock screen, you get an idea.
“Want to visit your dad?” you whisper, rubbing your hand over your bump.
You laugh when you feel another kick as you rise out of the rocking chair. Your phone rings, and you pause, answering it quickly.
“Hello,” you greet.
“Hi, gorgeous.”
You’re glad Tim can’t see you because you duck your chin shyly even though he’s miles away.
“What are you doing?” he asks.
“I was putting the clothes away,” you answer softly.
Tim chuckles before reminding you, “I said I’d do that.”
“I got bored.”
“And lonely?”
You huff, a half-sigh, half-whine that makes Tim know he’s right.
“How are the contractions?”
“They’re okay.”
As you say it, another contraction hits, and you slide your hand under your bump as it passes.
“Yeah, they sound okay,” Tim says.
“’S just Braxton Hicks, I’ll be fine.”
“Oh, I know you will be. I won’t let anything happen to you.”
You don’t say anything, walking into your bedroom to get shoes. Tim sighs before telling you he has to go.
“I love you,” you say, holding the phone to your ear with your shoulder as you gather your things.
“I love you, both of you,” Tim replies. “I’ll see you tonight.”
The call ends, and you put your phone in your bag before locking the front door behind you. You miss Tim, and he’s right, you’re bored and lonely, so you’re going to visit him. He has been upset that he’s missing so much of your pregnancy and when the contractions started a few weeks ago. So, you’re doing it for him, too.
Once you’re in the car, another contraction seizes you, and you furrow your brows in pain. It’s the most intense you’ve had, but you soon forget about it. The doctor assured you everything was okay, and your baby was healthy at your last visit, that the contractions would continue until you went into labor and would just be an inconvenience.
✯✯✯✯✯
“Bradford!” Wade yells. He turns to you and smiles, lowering his voice to ask, “How are you feeling?”
“Big. Tired,” you answer quietly.
Wade laughs and pats your shoulder before stepping away while Tim hugs you. You wrap your arms around him, smiling against his chest as your baby kicks excitedly.
“Someone missed you,” you mumble.
“I know you did.”
You push your face further into Tim’s uniform before he eases your shoulders back gently.
“Been kicking like that all day?” he asks, smoothing his hand over your cheek.
Humming, you don’t notice Tim looking down at you.
“Soccer player,” he adds softly.
“Of course you’d pick a unisex sport.”
Tim smiles as you raise your head to look at him. “You’re the one who wanted to be surprised by the gender.”
“So did you!”
Tim drops his chin as he laughs, and you shake your head before backing away from him.
“No,” he grumbles, grabbing your hand and pulling you to his side. “Are you here for a while?”
“Sure,” you answer, moving your free hand to hold Tim’s wrist. “I missed you.”
“I missed you too. That’s why I keep calling.”
“Is this the new normal until we have a baby at home?”
“It is.”
Tim leads you into his office and closes the door, and when his hands land on your hips, you’re not sure if you like the privacy or wish you were back outside where he wouldn’t engage in such affection.
“Are you…” Tim begins, trailing off when you lean against the corner of his desk, gripping the edge in pain.
Tim’s hands hover beside you, watching you until you relax, slumping forward slightly.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” Tim asks softly.
Nodding, you say, “They’re going to get worse the closer I get.”
“I’m sorry,” Tim murmurs, cupping your face as he kisses your forehead. “Do you need anything?”
Your shoulders move with a silent chuckle, and Tim steps back, offering a hand. Every time you leave him to use the restroom, Tim acts like it’s some form of treachery, alternating between blaming you and the baby pushing on your bladder.
“I won’t miss this part,” he says as you enter the hallway.
✯✯✯✯✯
Tim says your name, cracking the door open.
“Tim,” you reply, unsure what else to say.
The door squeaks as it opens, closing softly as Tim’s footsteps echo in the empty stalls. When you see his feet stop in front of the door you’re behind, you sigh.
“Let me in,” he demands.
Opening the door, you wipe your hands on your pants.
“What happened?”
Tim takes your face in his hands, searching your face and then your navel for any sign of a problem.
“My water just broke,” you whisper.
While you clench your jaw against another contraction, Tim’s eyes widen as he realizes what this means. He takes both of your hands, walking backward as he leads you out of the stall. Laying an arm around your shoulders, he takes you to his office to grab his wallet. You wait in the doorway, and Tim looks around frantically.
“Tim, calm down, handsome,” you say. “I’m not having this baby now, just take a breath.”
Shaking his head, Tim finds his wallet on the floor and squats to get it, arguing, “I’m supposed to be comforting you.”
“I’m right behind you,” you whisper. “We’ll take turns. Can I panic now?”
Tim takes your purse, putting it over his shoulder as he leads you back toward the bullpen.
“Bradford,” Smitty says, “I have a question.”
“Ask someone else,” Bradford replies, his voice strained as you stop suddenly.
“Are you in labor?” Wade asks, rushing out of his office.
Tim nods, holding both of your shoulders as he stands before you.
“Do you need an ambulance?”
You shake your head, sniffing softly before nodding at Tim. Wade goes to the door, holding it open and yelling for people to get out of the way as Tim leads you to his truck.
“Can- I’m going to pick you up,” Tim says.
“No,” you argue.
“No for a real reason or because you’re still really shy?”
You don’t answer, and Tim chuckles as he lifts you into the passenger seat. You’re glad to see him calm down briefly, even at your expense.
“Tim!” Angela calls, walking out of the station. “Care for an escort?”
You shake your head vehemently, but Tim agrees, climbing into the driver’s seat as Angela pulls a shop out to drive before him.
“This is ridiculous, Tim,” you whine.
“Hey, you’re having my baby, we’re pulling out all the stops,” he replies.
When you look over at him, his jaw is tight, and his knuckles are white from his grip on the steering wheel. You want to say something but then decide not to distract him.
“Did you bring the hospital bag?” Tim asks suddenly.
“No,” you say quickly, breathing through a sudden contraction.
“Where is it? Still in the closet at home? We don’t have time to go get it, but-“
“Tim, Angela or someone can get it later,” you remind him. “You really need to calm down. We’re going to be fine.”
Tim nods, but his demeanor doesn’t change, even as he ignores your protest and carries you inside to meet the wheelchair.
“Contractions are nothing compared to that,” Angela muses, standing beside you while Tim negotiates to get you a private room.
“I thought he was going to need the hospital more than me.”
“It gets better after the first kid.”
“I can’t survive this again,” you mumble, spinning your wedding ring on your finger.
“I’m going to go get your stuff, so he doesn’t yell at me again,” Angela adds. “But I’ll be right back. Try not to let him get away with anything, okay?”
“Tim,” you say, and he immediately turns around, his shoulders dropping when he sees your smile.
“I’d apologize,” he begins, squatting to look in your eyes, “but I’m not really sorry.”
“Rarely are.”
“You’re getting a private room in just a few minutes.” Tim squeezes your knee as he says, “We got this. You said so, and you’re always right.”
You close your eyes, and Tim isn’t sure if it’s because of him or his baby.
✯✯✯✯✯
“Hey, you’re alright,” Tim soothes, brushing your hair off your forehead. “You can do this.”
You shake your head, your throat tight, and tears brimming in your eyes.
“I thought I was the only one allowed to panic,” Tim teases.
“It’s my turn,” you whimper.
“Alright, Bradfords, it’s time to push,” your doctor says kindly.
Tim offers his hand, and you take it, gripping the bedrail on the other side. This is the first time in your relationship that you haven’t considered getting shy; the intensity of the contractions, the focus it takes to have a baby, and the number of people in your room distract you.
“One more,” the doctor urges. “You’re almost there.”
Tim lays his hand on your shoulder, uncaring that you’re stronger than you look, and his hand is bending at the pressure of your grip. The moment you relax, hearing the hospital room fill with healthy cries, you look over at him.
Tim is already smiling at you, his eyes glassy as he turns to watch the doctor. Several nurses help you move, adjusting the bed and prepping you quickly. When you take your baby into your arms, you whisper a hello, looking over at Tim as he stands beside you.
“It’s a girl, healthy and happy,” the doctor says quietly, smiling at you and Tim before exiting the room.
A nurse takes her away from you, promising to bring her right back. When you’re alone in the room, you look at Tim and are surprised to see tears streaming down his face.
“Tim?”
He smiles, laughing as he bends over the bed to hug you. “We have a daughter,” he says against your shoulder.
“Move,” you demand before sliding over in the bed and welcoming him to your side.
His arm wraps over your shoulder, and you kiss his hand before the nurse returns, giving Tim a turn to hold his daughter.
You somehow fall more in love with Tim when you see him: calloused hands holding a tiny baby against his chest as he smiles through the tears, whispering about how much he loves her.
“There’s an Angela Lopez here to see you,” someone says at the door.
Tim turns toward you, kissing your forehead and his new daughter’s before going out to get Angela. She’s quiet when she enters, pouting at the sight of you.
“She looks like Tim,” she coos, extending a finger as she pats your shoulder.
“Thank you for everything,” you tell her, moving one arm to give her half a hug.
“You really think she looks like me?” Tim asks, setting your bag in the corner.
“Absolutely,” you and Angela say together.
“I guess we’ll have to try again then,” Tim sighs.
“Why?” you inquire.
“I wanted a mini-you, someone else to make shy,” he answers with a smile.
His smile grows when you and your daughter tuck your chins, almost in sync.
“Or maybe not,” Angela says.
“Oh, this is going to be fun,” Tim adds, sitting beside you again as you look at your daughter together.
“What’s her name?” Angela asks, and you and Tim look at each other with wide eyes.
“I knew we were forgetting something.”

Evan Buckley Masterlist
Summary: After meeting (Y/n) and her baby out on a call, Evan quickly finds himself falling for her and attaching himself to her. She's all he can think about. And she will be his.
Enjoy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A deep sigh rumbled past Evan's lips when he hopped down from the truck. This looked like it was going to take a while.
He squinted up at the building in front of them, trying to think and get a layout of the hospital in his mind to figure out which part of the building was on fire.
Evan had never been to a hospital fire before. He had never known a hospital in this area have a fire or have one that was catastrophic enough to cause a full evacuation like this. The 118 hadn't been here at the beginning of the fire, they seemed to have turned up right in the middle of things like they were the last ones to arrive to a party.
This meant full gear. Evan set about zipping up his overall jacket and found his helmet in one of the compartments. He stuck it on his head, fished around for his gloves and strapped them tight around his wrists. Once on, he found his mask in its dusty orange bag and strapped it around his waist. They didn't know how much smoke they would run into up there and when Bobby gave them all a look, they all nodded.
Evan could feel his shoulders slumping as he helped Hen hand out the oxygen tanks to their team.
Smoke and fire meant all the oxygen would be sucked in to feed the flames. They had to be able to breathe in order to evacuate the patients. The tank weighed heavy on Evan's back right between his shoulders, but it was a weight he was used to and not nearly as heavy as the ones he trained with down at the gym. He just knew that the extra weight and effort was going to make him sweat more profusely in that sauna of a hospital.
Fully suited, Evan clicked his neck into place and stood in line with the rest of the team, waiting patiently for Bobby to confer with the 106 who had gotten here first. They needed to know where they were needed and what they were going to be doing.
"Alright, Chim they need an extra set of hands assessing the ICU patients and getting them transported. Hen, you and me will go up to the third floor, there are a few patients they're struggling to transport with all the equipment."
Both of them nodded and Chimney jogged over to the tent set up outside where they were trying to sort out who was most in need of transportation. Nearby hospitals were taking in anyone they would who needed special monitoring or dialysis or life support.
"Eddie, Buck, there's still people on the second floor in the maternity wing who aren't evacuated so go there and make sure that ward is clear please."
"Copy."
Evan took the lead. He knew where he was going, he had been in the hospital enough times to know where the wards were located and he knew the maternity ward was near the front. He steered towards the left and over to the 106 truck that was conveniently moving their ladder towards the front windows to help get their teams in and patients out.
"Can you get us up to the second floor?" Evan pointed at the ladder and when the guy whose helmet read Taron nodded, he and Eddie climbed up on the top of the truck.
There was no time and no need to clip a harness onto the ladder when they could just run up and get in. The ladder was safe enough and they didn't have time to mess around here.
Evan was glad when he got to the top of the ladder that he didn't have to break the window. It was open on a latch, so all he had to do was wiggle his fingers, undo the latch and shimmy the window up as high as it would go. He briefly took off his helmet so he could shimmy through the window before he plonked it back on his head and looked around.
"Where'd you wanna start?"
"Fire's towards the left part of the building, there should be an exit across at the back. Start left and loop around?" Evan pointed to the door on his left that would lead them into the corridor.
It seemed safest to head nearest the fire and make sure no one was in peril, then they could loop around, clear the floor and get out.
"Sure," Eddie tapped his helmet to make sure it was in place but when they headed out the room, his eyes narrowed and he looked up at his best friend. "You holdin' out on me or something?"
How did Evan know his way around the hospital so well, especially the maternity ward?
"Nothing so exciting. I've got a good memory, from visiting Mads and Jee."
He steered to the left and headed down a long corridor, both of them peering into each room they passed. They had to get everyone out, smoke was already starting to clog up the halls and seep through the vents. They didn't want to be in here long.
When Eddie peered down a corridor on the right, he placed his hand down on Evan's shoulder and pulled him back in that direction.
There were two women and two nurses heading their way, hurrying as fast as they could down the corridor.
"All of you, this way and down the back exit there will be people outside to take you somewhere safe." Eddie waved his hands and guided them towards him, showing them the back stairs which weren't yet consumed by the flames or drastic smoke following them like a shadow.
They found another three mothers, all with their own newborns in their arms, and Eddie turned and guided them back down to the stairs while Evan carried on. They only had a few more rooms to clear and then they could check the neonatal rooms and get out of here.
Just as Evan went to open one of the doors on his right, he took a step back when it was yanked open like a force of nature. He stumbled on his back foot, eyes wide and lips parted.
The girl stood in front of him displayed the same shock that was written across his face. They hadn't expect the other to be there.
She was stunning.
Evan wasn't sure if it was the adrenaline coursing through his system, the smoke he had started to inhale or just the rush of emotions in this situation. But he couldn't tear his eyes away from her.
The way the loose tendrils of hair fell down her face made her look positively angelic. Her doe eyes were wide and round and her pupils took over almost the whole expanse of her eyes. Those plump, parted lips were heart shaped and made Evan want to lean closer and taste them.
Her hands were gripping the door, clinging to it like she was trying to prop herself up and the way she was slightly stooped forward made Evan trail his eyes up and down her frame.
She had already had her baby. A lot of the rooms in this ward were mixed, some women had given birth, others were under observation and some were in labour. He guessed all those in labour had been escorted out first, they would have been priority to be taken to the nearest hospital.
And by the way she was leaning forwards, Evan wondered if she had gone through a C-section.
He noted that she was wearing pyjamas. A thin, light blue top with thin spaghetti straps over her shoulders and matching, baggy pyjama bottoms.
"Come with me, we're evacuating all the wards in this wing. I'll take you outside." He reached his hand out for her elbow and gently tried to coax her forward, but her eyes were rapidly scanning the corridor. "Miss-"
"I- my baby, I have to get her." Both her hands clutched Evan's arm so tightly she had him shaking along with her.
She tried to turn him around and drag him in the opposite direction towards the neonatal unit.
(Y/n) couldn't go and just leave her baby. She was two days old. She had to go and make sure someone had taken her and if not, she had to get her baby and get out. There was no way she could leave the hospital and go outside to safety if she didn't know whether her baby would be there or not. She couldn't leave Rory here in peril.
When she desperately pulled on his arm, Evan moved. He looped his right arm around her back and let her keep hold of his left hand. He tilted his head down, taking note of the nametag strapped around her wrist and he tried to rub his gloved hand up and down her back.
Something about the way she slotted into place in his arms almost made Evan smile. He felt like he'd seen her before, there was something about her that captivated him completely and Evan wanted nothing more than to keep her in his arms and escort her downstairs himself.
"(Y/n)," Her name felt like sugar on his lips and her eyes held his full attention when she stopped struggling and looked up at him. "I need you to go out to safety. You go with my partner, and I'll go make sure no baby isn't still here. Chances are she's already outside waiting for you."
When Evan caught sight of Eddie coming back from the stairwell, he slowly turned (Y/n) around so they were facing the right way.
He had to make sure the ward was clear anyway, and he couldn't allow her to come searching with him when she was a patient and needed to be looked after. If the fire got worse, Evan had a gas mask and an oxygen tank and protective clothing, (Y/n) didn't.
The tight grip she had on his hand made him step closer to her and the desperation in his eyes drew her in. He didn't want to let go of her. He didn't want to hand her over to Eddie, as if she was a friend Evan didn't want to share or part with.
Her voice sounded like a song, serenading him and her words struck his heart and rattled down to his core.
"Please- she- she's all I've got-"
"Hey, I'm going to get her and bring her right back to you, okay? Don't worry, you go wait outside."
When Evan nodded at Eddie, he begrudgingly unravelled his arms from her and let Eddie take her arm instead.
He made sure to note the last name written on her wristband before he disappeared down the corridor to the last place he hadn't evacuated yet. He burst through the doors of the first room, the neonatal room compact with incubators and equipment and heaters and oxygen masks and all the smaller instruments specifically for premature babies.
All had been evacuated. That was good. The most fragile patients had been escorted out of here.
Evan could feel the heat following him like he was a thief in the night and the heat was licking the back of his neck and smothering his jacket. He pushed ahead towards the last room in this ward where the healthy newborns were looked after.
To his surprise, there was one nurse left, one babe in each arm and her head instantly ticked to the cradle behind the door Evan had burst through. "These are the last ones, everyone should be out by now." The nurse sounded relieved but her expression was panicked.
There were no more babies to be evacuated and now that Evan and Eddie had evacuated all the other patients, they were all in the clear.
He nodded and spun around, suddenly glad that the hospital put wristbands on each child as soon as possible. He couldn't imagine not knowing which child was which or leaving with two and getting them mixed up. What a horror that would cause.
When he looked down at the cradle, something surged through his heart. He didn't need to read the wristband on the child's arm that was waving back and forth as they wailed, clearly petrified. He could see the name written on the chart on the side of the cradle.
The last name stuck out first. This was (Y/n)'s baby. This was the little one she had been trying to get to, the one Evan promised to find. And when he looked at her first name, his lips quirked.
Aurora.
Fitting. Such a lovely name for a little girl that reminded Evan of a princess.
His gloved hands shook as he carefully reached down for her and slowly eased her into his chest. He knew his jacket wouldn't be the comfiest, it would be itchy against her soft, tender skin but they didn't have much of a choice right now.
The moment she was in the crook of his elbow, her cries ceased almost immediately. She switched to whimpers and wriggling around and when Evan cooed and rocked her as he turned around, it was like magic.
He tucked her blanket a bit higher so it was draped over her neck and very loosely over her mouth. Just in case the smoke followed them in here.
He whispered a soft "It's okay, I've got you." and held her higher to his chest as he moved towards the window. He knew the layout of this place, this room was facing the chaos outside. He could get the truck to move the ladder over to them and get them out quicker. He didn't want to risk going back down the stairs when the fire was still spreading.
It didn't take long to open the window, wave his hand and wait for the truck to tilt the ladder a few degrees to the left to reach them.
"Here's our ride." He held his free hand out to the nurse and took one of the newborns so she could climb over the legs and carefully stand on the ladder. Once she had both back in her arms, she started her descent and Evan cast his eyes down to Aurora in his arms.
He couldn't look away from her as he swung his legs over the window frame and climbed onto the ladder.
His gloved hand cradled hers, his thumb stroked over the back of her hand and he rocked her up and down while he steadily walked down the ladder. He was more careful than he usually would have been when he climbed down from the truck and got back onto solid ground.
He wouldn't let anything happen to the girl in his arms.
"You're okay, you're okay." He cooed as he lifted her higher against his chest and looked around the scene.
He didn't want to let her go.
What would happen if he held her for just a while longer? Would anyone stop him? Would someone take her from him? What if he couldn't find (Y/n) again? Possibilities ran through his head until his eyes lifted and he looked ahead to where one of the tents was set up in the middle of the foyer.
There she was.
He wasn't too sure where Eddie was, maybe he had been roped into getting the last part of the fire under control. Maybe he was getting patients to an ambulance for transporting, Evan wasn't sure, and suddenly he didn't care. All he cared about was watching that captivating girl hurry towards him as fast as she could in her state.
She had one arm tightly bound around her abdomen, making Evan sure that she was recovering from a C-section. Her eyes were looking at him as if she had tunnel vision, as if Evan was the only thing she could see. The only person worth looking at.
He could see the desperation in her eyes and the panic written across her face and when he glanced down, he realised she wasn't even wearing socks. She was barefoot, aiming for him to see if he had her baby.
"Is- Is it Rory?"
He was about to say no until it clicked a second later that Rory was short for Aurora. He liked that. He really liked that name.
"I've got her, she's fine."
It made something twinge in his chest like a muscle had snapped when he lowered the newborn down into her mother's arms. It was fascinating that (Y/n) didn't have to check the nametag on the newborn's wrist to know that this was her baby. Instinct must have taken over, unless she simply took Evan's word as gospel that this was indeed her child.
He could see the relief pooling in her eyes and she looked so thankful that she could have fainted and collapsed there on the spot. She held Rory close to her chest, dragging her thumb over the back of her soft head that she started to kiss. But her eyes looked up to stare at the fireman who had helped them.
She read the name on his helmet.
Buckley. 118.
She wasn't going to forget that in a hurry. (Y/n) would bear that name in mind, she was going to have to thank him for this.
"Can I take you to a medic, to make sure you're both okay?" Evan dared to rest his hand on her lower back and took a step closer until their sides were touching and he had to look down to see her face properly.
She nodded and he was spurred on when she didn't pull away or create some space between them. He motioned his other hand out in front of them and slowly started to guide them towards a paramedic he could see in the distance. They both needed to be checked out before they were taken somewhere to wait for transport to a different hospital for the remainder of their stay.
His eyes found their way back to (Y/n) when she lifted her head up and he saw a smile forming on her lips.
Her smile was beautiful. He wanted to keep that smile in his memory. He wanted to gaze on that smile and be the reason she smiled. He wanted to keep that smile for himself and be the one and only reason she sparkled as brightly as that.
"You're a real hero, you know that?" She sounded breathless and he could see she was subtly shaking, but her words were enough to spark a fire igniting throughout Evan's system.
He liked the sound of that.
He had never been a hero to anyone before. He had failed in trying to save Daniel, and that meant he would never be good enough in his parent's eyes. He had never done anything to warrant being a hero to Maddie. He had been there after she got away from Doug, but he never did anything to actually save her, not like he wanted to.
He hadn't been a hero to any of his past girlfriends and that had been okay, he didn't have anything to prove to them or a desire to be heroic for them.
But hearing (Y/n) say that, seeing her look at him like that, it sparked something to life in his chest and made his heart swell and his head rattle with ideas and thoughts and images of a future that he wanted. He liked the thought of being a hero to her. He liked the thought of being there when she needed him, of being the one to help her.
Curiosity dwelled in his eyes along with a spark that started to form. Maybe she needed a hero. Maybe (Y/n) was someone who needed saving.
Evan could do that. He could save her. He could be there and help her, he could definitely see himself trying to help her and the beautiful little bundle in her arms.
And as he stared down at the pair of them, he couldn't get that thought to leave his mind.
***
Something sparked in Evan's eyes when he looked dead ahead of him. He could feel all the blood rushing to his stomach, fluttering along with adrenaline and a sense of hope that was growing wings and trying to take flight.
She was here.
The girl. The one he had been thinking, imagining and dreaming about for the last week. The girl he had saved from the hospital, she was walking right through those station doors.
He knew it!
He knew, Evan just knew if he bided his time, he would run into her sooner or later. But oh, had it been hard. He found it so hard to stay focused at work, to go home each night and try to find a way to get her off his mind. Nothing worked. Going to the gym didn't help when she still plagued his thoughts and he couldn't push through the barrier she created. He couldn't find the attention span to watch movies after work.
He didn't want to go out for drinks with any of the team, and when some of the women on calls tried to flirt with him, Evan felt angered. They weren't her; they weren't (Y/n).
But now she was here. It just proved that Evan knew deep down it would work out. He knew he would bump into her again at some point, and it had only taken a week for her to walk into his station.
Evan didn't have to resort to hanging around where she lived- the address which he had found on her file that he checked back at the hospital fire when patients were being transported to different hospitals. He didn't have to wait around where she lived and try to catch another glimpse of her and create a casual meet.
He didn't have to go looking for her to stop her from haunting his every waking moment, because here she was, walking into his station like this was where she belonged all along.
Evan tossed down the cloth in his hand, rolled his eleeves up to his elbows and jogged ahead between the fire trucks. He wanted to make sure no one else got to her first. He wanted- no, he needed to be the one to talk to her, to find out why she was here. To find out if she was here to see him.
She looked lovely. Hair swept back out of her face, teeth sunk down into her bottom lip that looked like an anxious habit to Evan. She was wearing jeans and a pale turquoise shirt that cut a bit low down the front and had ruffles around the shoulders.
His eyes cast down to the pram she was pushing. She had brought Aurora down to the station.
"(Y/n), hi."
She paused when Evan approached and his heart ignited when he saw the way her lips curved into a beautiful grin that flashed her teeth and creased her eyes.
"Buckley… so I am at the right place." Her voice was so soothing, no hint of panic or torment like the first time they spoke. No panic written across her face and no anguish building up in her heart.
He saw the way she cast her eyes up and down his frame as he stepped closer and tucked his hands into his pockets. He couldn't help but look down into the pram, and his smile widened when he looked at the newborn tucked up beneath a blanket. She was sleeping, she looked very settled and calm and he loved that the beige hat she wore had a Mickey Mouse silhouette sewn into the centre.
"Call me Evan. What can we do for you? Are you both okay?" When Evan moved one hand from his pocket and motioned to the pram, he waited until (Y/n) nodded to reach down. He brushed his finger along Aurora's cheek, loving the way she seemed to lean into his touch like she knew exactly who he was and that he was someone she wanted to be around.
"We're fine, thanks to you. I came to say thank you, properly, for helping us last week."
Reaching down beneath the pram, (Y/n) found the tuppaware box and gingerly held it out to Evan. She tried not to blush or let heat rise to her skin when she saw the way he grinned as he took the box from her. It wasn't much, but she knew baked goods were always welcomed and she wasn't quite sure how else to say thank you. Other than to come down in person to show her gratitude and hand over some cookies.
"Thank you." Evan was already opening the box and diving in to try a cookie and he hummed when he bit into one. "You didn't have to, you know. It's all part of the job."
"It's not everyday a hospital has a fire, or that someone goes back in to get your baby for you. Thanks is the least I could do."
This may be an everyday thing for him, but not for (Y/n). She hadn't gone into the hospital expecting a mass fire to break out. She didn't expect to be evacuated or to have someone rush back inside to make sure her daughter wasn't still in there and get her out safe. She didn't dare think what would of happened if he hadn't of been there at that exact moment, to help her.
"So, she's doing okay?" His eyes cast down to the pram when he finished the cookie and tucked the box under one arm so he didn't drop it.
Part of him wanted to reach in and pick her up. She had seemed very settled when he held her last week at the hospital. He wanted to see if she would still settle with him. He wanted to cuddle her and see how she might attach herself to him, to see if she would remember who he was.
"Yeah, she's doing great. Keeping me awake at night, but that's what I signed up for."
"Just you two?" Evan spoke before he could stop himself and despite how quiet his voice came out, he knew (Y/n) heard him. He diverted his eyes down to the pram, brushing Aurora's cheek once again as she started to wriggle. But the quiet hum (Y/n) gave out handed him his answer.
Just her and her girl. They had each other, and that was all they needed.
"Hey, what're you doing here?"
Evan snapped his head up to look over at Bobby when the Captain trotted down the stairs from the kitchen and made a beeline their way. The sight of him walking forward had Evan's brows furrowing and he tilted his head to one side in uncertainty.
"Just stopped by to say thanks to your team, for being so lovely during the hospital evacuation last week."
The smile that flooded (Y/n)'s face when she looked up at Bobby had a slither of jealousy creeping up the back of Evan's spine and surging through his chest. How did she know Bobby? Why was she smiling like that at him? Hadn't she come here to see Evan, not the Captain?
He watched Bobby loop an arm around (Y/n)'s waist and reel her in for a hug, and he did his best to hide his grimace as he watched them. And he swallowed down a grumble when Bobby kissed the top of (Y/n)'s head and gave her a squeeze.
"Oh really? Stick around for a coffee, see the rest of the team." Bobby spoke into the top of (Y/n)'s hair and when he finally parted from her, he patted Evan's shoulder and leaned around him to look into the pram at Aurora. He had a few things to take care of, but he would make time for a coffee if (Y/n) stuck around for a while.
Bobby seemed to smile wider when he saw the newborn nuzzling into Evan's hand that was still stretched down towards her.
When he walked past them both and moved towards the back of the station, Evan turned his attention to (Y/n). He tried to keep his composure, stay standing tall and plastered the smile back on his face as he stepped closer to her. He liked the way she had to tilt her head at an angle to look up at him. He liked that doe look in her eyes and the way she smiled at him was as if he was the only person in the world worth talking to.
"You uh, you know Bobby?"
"He's my uncle, I used to stay with him a lot when I moved out here after school. He's Rory's godfather."
(Y/n) would say that she was closer to her uncle than she was to her own parents. He had practically taken her in when she moved out to LA not long after Bobby left Minnesota to come out here. She had always heard him talking about his team, but she had never come down to the station or formally met any of them. They were like Bobby's second family and sometimes it was easier to keep both his worlds separate.
But from what (Y/n) had briefly seen of the team, she knew she would like them, especially Evan.
"Oh, wow." Evan nodded and began walking, motioning his arm in the right direction as (Y/n) followed along at his side with the pram. She would stick around for a coffee and a chat before she took Rory back home.
As Evan dragged his hand up and down his jaw and listened to the sound of (Y/n)'s shoes clicking against the polished floor, he found himself smiling. He had no idea Bobby had a niece, or that his niece would turn out to be someone so lovely who Evan was finding himself thinking of at every waking moment.
He liked the idea of (Y/n) being related to Bobby. Evan had come to think of Bobby as the dad he'd never had growing up. Bobby looked after him, taught him life lessons, was there when he needed him and loved and supported him and told him when he was wrong and how to right his problems.
If (Y/n) was related to Bobby, that just meant that instead of feeling like Bobby was his foster dad, he would now have a connection to him. If Evan got close to (Y/n) and found himself in a relationship with her, he would therefore be more like a true relation to Bobby. This was the beginning of a family.
They would all be drawn closer together, and Evan wanted to be as close to (Y/n) as he could get.
***
Evan almost jumped out of his skin when a hand gripped his shoulder and he felt a tall presence leaning over his right shoulder. He could feel his heart hammering away so fast in his chest he thought his ribs were going to splinter.
He glanced over his shoulder and his eyes locked with Bobby. The Captain had a knowing grin on his face that put Evan at ease, he wasn't about to be reprimanded for anything and he wasn't going to have a stern conversation. He seemed to have taken some delight in making Evan nervous, something Bobby didn't do very often.
"So, my niece, huh?"
It took Evan by surprise and he had to take a few seconds to work out what Bobby was talking about. Until Bobby cast his eyes down to look at Evan's phone that was clasped in his hands, and they both looked at his lockscreen.
(Y/n).
A blush started to creep up the side of Evan's neck and dusted across his cheeks when he nodded. He wasn't sure how to respond to that because it didn't really sound like a question, it was more of a statement or a rhetorical question.
But Bobby didn't seem upset or annoyed or like Evan was overstepping any mark here. He looked happy, if Evan wasn't mistaken.
"I uh, I really like her, Bobby, and Rory. I'd never mess them around-"
"Kid, I trust you. You've come a long way, and I know you wouldn't do anything to hurt either of them. If you're both happy, then so am I."
He had Bobby's approval, and he didn't have to try or ask or say anything at all. Bobby was happy for them. He was happy that Evan was infatuated with his niece and would do anything for her. This was better than Evan had hoped for.
Something soft dwelled in (Y/n)'s eyes when she glanced towards the living room.
Evan was sweet.
He was stood behind the sofa, looking like he had been pacing up and down for a little while now. He had Rory in his arms who he had been holding for the last twenty minutes or so. He barely put her down, and she barely cried in his arms.
She couldn't quite believe how sweet and endearing Evan was being towards both her and Rory.
(Y/n) had been a little nervous and mostly unsure when Evan came round last week, and then again, and then popped by today. She wasn't sure why he wanted to befriend her so badly. She was a single mother with a newborn, she wasn't going to be much fun or good company, but Evan seemed intent on getting to know her. And he was more than eager to fuss Rory and settle her if she woke up, to give (Y/n) a break.
She folded her arms over the kitchen counter and tilted her head to one side, watching Evan with a growing smile that spread across her lips. He looked like he was a natural with kids, Bobby had said so himself. He said all the kids they had on calls or the school groups that stopped by the station all levitated to Evan like he was some kind of beacon.
He understood them, he was a friendly, understanding face and a fun person to be around. And he just seemed to have a natural talent with kids. When he came round to have a coffee with (Y/n), to see how she was and ask if she wanted to go for a walk or just spend some time together, he was always more than eager to have Rory around.
Not many men would be like that. Not many men at all would try and befriend (Y/n) or pursue her when she had a baby to look after. And not many men would be so taken with her newborn and try to offer help and be a friend to be around when needed.
She couldn't hear whatever Evan was saying to Rory, but the grin on his face made her wonder if he was relaying a story, possibly a work scenario.
Her eyes finally tore away from the pair of them to look down at her phone when it buzzed on the countertop.
*Me and Athena are having a BBQ at the weekend, do you want to come over? You can bring Buck XX
(Y/n) could feel herself lighting up at the thought of a party, but when she re-read her uncle's words again, her chest started to ignite with adrenaline and her face fell into a frown.
She could bring Evan? Why would he ask her that? Wouldn't he just invite Evan along anyway? Most of her uncle's parties or meals and events included his work team nine times out of ten. Evan would surely be on the list to be invited, he would likely be the first person they invited. Why was there any need for (Y/n) to bring him along?
For a brief moment, she glanced back over at Evan in the living room, watching as he moved to sit down on the sofa, still cooing and quietly chattering away to her daughter.
*Bring Buck? XX
*Don't worry, he told me. I'm happy for you both, he's a good kid and the team is eager to meet you XX
What on Earth did that mean?
What had Evan told her uncle? Did Bobby think they were in a relationship? Did anyone else think she and Evan were in a relationship?
She and Evan were friends, he had been kind to her and he was becoming a good friend. But they weren't in a relationship. He hadn't asked her and (Y/n) wasn't sure she was ready for that. Her last relationship had gone bust the moment she found out she was pregnant and (Y/n) made the decision to do this on her own. She wanted to have her baby and she was happy to be a single mother to Rory.
(Y/n) couldn't be thinking about a relationship right now, not after she'd just had Rory and her world was turned upside down, in the best possible way. She wasn't in the right moment to be thinking about getting into a new relationship.
Stuffing her phone into her back pocket, (Y/n) sighed and pushed off the counter. She was going to have to talk to him about this. Either Bobby had gotten the wrong end of the stick somewhere along the line, or Evan had said something he shouldn't. Or maybe Evan had gotten the wrong end of things, but how?
(Y/n) hadn't said anything or done anything to give Evan the wrong idea. They were friends.
She moved away from the counter, but paused when another buzz ticked through the air. That wasn't her phone. She dared to lean over, just to catch a glimpse of Evan's phone; it might be Bobby messaging him.
She wished she hadn't looked.
Why did Evan have a photo of (Y/n) as his lockscreen?
When had he even taken a picture of (Y/n)? She didn't recall Evan ever holding his phone up and taking a photo of her, she would of remembered something like that happening with someone she didn't know very well. Why was it made his lock screen? Why had he taken a photo of her?
A shiver crawled down her spine as she walked out of the kitchen and slowly headed into the living room. She tried to smile when she watched Evan gently ease Rory down in the rocker near the armchair. The newborn was fast asleep.
(Y/n) folded her arms over her stomach and leant one hip against the back of the armchair, trying not to look too panicked or too casual or uneasy.
"Evan, have you said something to Bobby, about us?" She forced herself to control her breathing and keep her tone light. She didn't want to argue with him or start something here, she just wanted to clear this all up.
The last thing they needed was to go to this barbeque at the weekend and have people asking if they were an item and one saying yes and the other saying no. They couldn't get things muddled up or let the lines blurr.
She watched his head tilt to one side and a lopsided smile formed on his lips as he squinted up at her.
"Well, yeah, I talk about you sometimes, so… he knows. He's fine with it, though, so don't worry."
"He knows?" Her head shook and the placid smile on her face showed her clear confusion.
She could feel panic dwelling up in her chest when Evan brushed his hands up and down his thighs and pushed up to his feet. She couldn't help but take a step back when Evan twisted and walked over to her. He walked slowly, as if he was a predator stalking towards her, assessing her movements. And (Y/n) held steady, not wanting to give the wrong impression or seem like she was angry when she was simply confused.
Her breath caught in her lungs and she could feel her throat tightening when he stepped so close, their chests were touching. She could feel each breath Evan took, pressing down against her and she couldn't help the shiver that rolled down her spine when Evan's fingers pressed beneath her chin and tilted her head up in his direction.
The way he smiled down at her made something twinge in (Y/n)'s stomach. She couldn't quite figure it out, but there was just something in his eyes that made her uneasy. That glimmer, that added, darkened look that made his pupils dilate and caused his mouth to curve into a splintered smile that set her on edge.
"Yeah, that you're my girls."
His words were followed by his lips pressing to her forehead that had started to spin in circles.
She didn't realise Evan's hands had moved to her hips or that he was nudging her back until the sofa pressed into her knees and she found herself sitting down. Her heart jumped into her throat once again and she could feel herself trembling when Evan sat down beside her.
He was close enough that their knees were touching and he curled one hand around her thigh while the other hand cupped the side of her neck. She could feel his thumb brushing softly across her jaw and when he leaned in, the only place for (Y/n) to go was to tilt backwards.
He was leaning over her. He was crowding her, surrounding her, blocking her exit and her senses and numbing her thoughts.
She didn't know what to do when he kissed her.
His lips were soft, but there was something behind his touch, something he was holding back. She could feel it in his touch, in the way his hand was so tense against her neck it was like he was about to start shaking. There was something in his hand gripping her thigh, like he was tempted to squeeze even tighter and pin her in place.
The feeling of his chest pressing down onto hers made (Y/n) sink further back into the sofa she was becoming compressed on when Evan was practically lying on top of her.
She stole as much air as she could manage in the second that their lips parted and she could feel Evan smiling into her mouth before he kissed her again.
This was moving too fast. They hadn't even gone out on a date or made any inclination towards dating. They were friends- (Y/n) thought they were friends.
Evan had come round to see her a few times, they had exchanged numbers. There was no reason for her picture to be on his phone or as his lockscreen. He shouldn't be kissing her now when they hadn't agreed to start dating and they didn't know each other well.
Evan had instagated this all on his own, he had attached himself to her and he didn't look like he was going to part from her. He had told his team that they were dating, he was already making it a well-known fact when the person he should have been talking to about this was (Y/n); the only person left in the dark about all of this.
What was she going to do?
1000 word quick drabble. I challenged myself to write imperfectly for an hour and post whatever came out. This is the result. Not too bad for something that hasn't had about a million edits.
-------------
A CALLOUS CABBIE
The clutch on their car had been making very strange noises since Thursday. There is no way it would be fixed in less than three days, five including the upcoming bank holiday weekend. Bella's contractions started at 11pm on the Saturday night, only as painful as day two period cramps and twenty minutes apart at first, but by 3am on the Sunday morning, the contractions head steadily increased in frequency to every five minutes with the intensity of them now rendering her unable to talk when they peaked. It was time to go to the maternity unit, but with no functional car of their own, they were relying on the local taxi service to help them make the fifteen mile journey.
Brendon booked the the vehicle for as soon as possible using the company's app on his phone. Within ten minutes, a black Honda had appeared outside their house, the low rumble of the engine humming. Brendon swung Bella's hospital bag over his left shoulder and, supporting his wife with his other arm, walked her slowly out to the car. As she shuffled in, the driver took in the sight of her bump in the rear view mirror and frowned.
"I hope there won't be any accidents on that seat. A drunk puked on it last week and I've only just had it fixed" he huffed.
"We have sick bags in case. But she doesn't feel sick, do you baby?" Brendan asked Bella.
"That's not what I meant," the driver sighed. "I meant any... fluids. The last thing I need is any nasty stuff on my seat."
"My waters haven't broken yet," Bella insisted. "But if they do and I make a mess on your seat, we will pay for the cost of getting it cleaned."
"And what about the cost of the fares I'll miss while I'm getting it cleaned? Whose going to pay for that?" he argued back.
Brendon looked at the driver, speechless. Bella rolled her eyes and looked at her husband.
"Run in and get a towel to put under me sweetie."
Muttering under his breath, Brendon got out of the car and ran back to the house. Less than a minute later, he was back carrying a large fluffy towel. Bella lifted her bottom up and allowed him to spread it beneath her.
"Happy?" Brendon said, sarcasm evident in his voice.
"Ecstatic."
The vehicle revved up and started to move. For the first tenty minutes minutes of the journey, Bella was able to breath through the contractions as Brendon held her hand next to her. The cool night air brushed her face through the open window, distracting her somewhat from her cramping womb. As a particularly nasty pain cut through her as the vehicle turned on an intersection, Bella felt warm amniotic fluid engulf her crotch. Crying out as the contraction peaked, Brendon looked at his wife's drenched bottoms and gasped. The driver glared through the rear view mirror.
"What the hell was that?" he called back.
"Baby?" Brendon said, ignoring him. He looked at his wife, who glanced down at her pants and shot a panicked look first to her husband and then at the driver.
"Just a really bad one. It's going now."
But less than two minutes later Bella was roaring as another pain pummelled her uterus, head thrown back, hand snaking down to her crotch.
"Oh god, it's coming! Brendon, it's coming now!" she squeaked.
"Stop the car please," Brendon called, as he removed his wife's seat belt.
"Why?"
"Because my wife is giving birth!"
"I'm not stopping now. We're five minutes away. Tell her to cross her legs."
"Excuse me? I said stop the car! I need to call an ambulance!"
"And whose is going to pay for my missed fares when we have to hang around for an hour for it to come?"
"I'll pay you double. Just stop the fucking car!"
"No," he said plainly, taking the slip road onto the motorway.
"Brendon! Please! It's coming out!"
Bella's pleading brought Brendon down from his rage as she whimpered beside him, her hands cupping her crotch. He could see the patch of wetness had grown as more fluid leaked out of her. Car being driven at 80mph or not, he needed to act. Grabbing Bella's hips, he swivelled her body 90 degrees so she was facing him, her shoulders resting against the interior of the car door.
"Take my pants off!" she gasped. Brendon dragged her bottoms down her legs in one swift motion, exposing her labouring vulva. There, sat between two puffy lips and under the glistening jewel of her clit, was the centimetre square dark patch of their firstborn's head as her body forced it into the world.
"Oh my fucking god, I need to push!" Bella yelled, as she bore down. Fluid dribbled out from behind the swirls of the infant's hair as the centimetre patch of hair grew to an inch. Brendon held her legs open and instinctively she put her feet on his shoulders, bracing her legs against him as she pushed.
"You're doing it baby," he said, his voice breaking as he gently supported the taut perenium with his shaky fingertips. Bella's stretched pussy neared a full crown, her feet by his ears. Grunting with effort, she pushed like she was trying to shit a boulder, as her baby's head stretched her battered vagina to its limit. She shrieked with pain as their child's head popped out with a slosh of bloody fluid into its father's waiting hands. Pushing once more, a wriggling baby tumbled out onto the car seat, swimming in fluid. Brendon put the child onto its mother's chest, covering them both with his own jacket.
"How are we getting on back there?" the cabbie shouted, as he finally slowed his vehicle, the lights of the hospital shining through the cat windows.
"You'd better fucking believe we won't be paying for any damage you arsehole," said Brendon as his child cried, breathing oxygen into its lungs for the first time.
satoru setting his lockscreen as the ultrasound is so cute I’m eating my fist rn….suguru reading pregnancy books because he likes being informed on things…..yes yes I hear u
i imagine it’s like a switch flips. They’re teasing you and you say stop and they stop. Instantly. That lasts throughout the entire pregnancy and with other things not even just the teasing. You ask (demand) Satoru for his favorite dessert and normally he’d give you a little shit for it but now he just hands it over. Might be one of your cravings!! He won’t question it, he can always buy another some other time. They’re at your beck and call no questions asked, anything to keep you happy :3
It’s 50/50 whether they fight over what goes in the nursery. Gojo wants a pretty blue sky painted on the walls, Geto wants a calming night sky. You’re supposed to be the dealbreaker but both ideas sound good in your eyes so they play rock, paper, scissors to decide.
Satoru stocks it with so many cute toys and decorations and you and Suguru are staring at this giant Blank Spot where the crib should be….it’s okay he simply got a little too excited!!
You don’t have to lift a finger if they can help it. Cooking, cleaning, random chores, they got it! Giving you massages on whatever sore spot of your body, brushing your hair, applying your lipgloss. They’ll dress and feed you if you’re tired and so desire them to.
On outings if they even catch whiff of a threat, they’re in Protective Dad mode. one of them hugging you to his chest with hands on your belly, the other between you and the threat/“threat”.
They both like talking to the life growing in your belly! During a soothing walk through the park, Suguru gives your stomach a gentle tap, murmurs softly about the loud whistles of birds in the trees. Satoru comes home from work and tells them fantastical, embellished stories about his day (he turned a meeting with the higher-ups into a tale of him trapped in a prison by evil monsters and how he made such a daring escape).
the insanity rlly jumped out rq…ooh wee
Hey hey I was wondering if you could do a aizawa with his teen daughter who just found out she was pregnant and how he and her deal with everything
[Since Anon didn’t specify whether the daughter was impregnated by choice, I’m going to go a darker route and say that the reader was r~~~d by their ex (they were together at the time, but they broke up after the reader found out their boyfriend assaulted them in their sleep) and although they are upset about the situation, they can’t bring themselves to terminate the baby.]
Aizawa x Teen Daughter Reader: Teenage Pregnancy
You and your boyfriend had a really good relationship going. You both had agreed to save sex for when you were out of Highschool and both had stable jobs
At least, that’s what you thought
You were 17 years old when you got ‘sick’. Constantly throwing up in the mornings and certain smells made you puke.
Aizawa had noticed this and hoped it was just the flu but decided to be safe and went to buy Pregnancy tests and left them on your bed with a note saying:
“I picked these up for you, I promise I won’t be angry or upset with you if you’re pregnant. You’re old enough to know that every action has consequences. Just know that I’m here to help in any way I can.
Love, Dad”
When you missed your period you decided to take the tests. Needless to say they were positive.
When Aizawa heard you crying through the bathroom door, his heart slightly broke, so he tried to talk to you
“Sweetheart, are you going to be able to come out and talk to me? I know that you’re upset but please know that I’m not going to be mad at you or scold you. You knew that this was going to be something that could happen when you had sex”
Cue the reader crying even harder. That’s when Aizawa knew, he f~~~ed up.
Oh, oh this is much worse then he could have possibly imagined. His heart broke in two and he felt a simmering of rage start to boil in his gut
“Sweetie, I’m so sorry, forget what I said, you didn’t choose this but I promise I’m going to be here and help you no matter what you choose to do.”
Eri was awake and heard the commotion and asked about what was going on. When Aizawa tried to explain what was happening that’s when you exited the bathroom with a positive test
You knelt down and did your best to explain to Eri what was happening and what it meant. When you saw the look of wonder and excitement on her sweet little face, that was when you decided to keep the baby
Aizawa had called Mic and let him know what was happening as well as Midnight. They both drove over and stayed with you (Midnight didn’t die in this story) whilst Aizawa left to go deal with your Ex
First Trimester:
Aizawa, Mic and Nemuri are there for everything. Aizawa is there at every checkup and has a picture of the ultrasound in his wallet
He started getting things early and stocking up on necessities like diapers, bottles, wipes, etc.
Started to baby-proof the house, helped get a crib set up as well as the nursery
Second Trimester:
He started preparing for you to be homeschooled during maternity leave and made sure you would still be on track to graduate
He and Mic start to buy gender neutral baby clothes, books, toys, etc.
He takes you to every appointment
Third Trimester:
Oh boy, he nervous
His students hear about it and hold a baby shower for you. Each member of class 1A gets you of the baby something. Some of their gifts include: an All Might and Eraserhead onesies, cute baby clothes, some books, a baby food processor and recipe book with storage containers, maternity friendly tea, stuffed toys, etc.
As you start to show more, Nemuri takes you shopping for clothes
Aizawa and Mic surprised you with a painted nursery as well as a car seat
Birth:
Aizawa never had so many mixed emotions all at once
When he got the call at school that you went into labor, he dropped his things and immediately headed to the hospital
Grabs the to go bag as an after thought
Eri calls the baby her little brother and promises to be the best big sister ever
Every milestone, Aizawa is taking pictures of
Of course, uncle Mic helps out with the baby and everything
