Kei Soejima's Main Stories summarized

[This summary's purpose is to help people remember the most important details of the main route, or to make others discover the story more easily. The stories in-between the seasons are not detailed but put in the right order of reading (normally). If I have made any mistake, which can definitely happen since it was pretty tricky to summarize, don't hesitate to point it out so I can edit!]

MS 1 (mainly Japan - Antagonist: Clark - Crossover with: Luke Foster)

Kei and MC meet in Japan at the Raven, and soon, Kei gives her the golden choker his grandfather, Chad Romley, had sent him as a way to dominate her while she's on a surveillance mission. He realizes she must be an assassin or spy and keeps her close to him so she doesn't ruin his plans in Japan.

We find out about Kei's difficult and mysterious background as an orphan raised in an English church. Kei's purpose in Japan is to find a lost rosary that's directly linked to this place. The rosary acts as a "key" that opens the basement of that church.

When Kei finally gets the rosary/key along with MC who ends up helping him at Clark's residence, they open the basement, and it revealed traces of past abuse (like being tied up) the orphans, such as Kei, had to endure. Among everything that was there, Kei only kept a list of names which contained the identity of people involved in these secret crimes.

Then, he burned the rest of the church down to erase his past and ease his pain.

MS 2 (mainly USA - Antagonist: Eric Fillmore - Crossover with: Eiji Kiyosumi, Luke Foster)

MC has been promoted to work at EAC's headquarters, and has said good bye to the 3S's. However, she's surprised when Kei follows her along with his friends to New York.

Kei's visit to the USA has other purposes: find Eric Fillmore, a man who is in possession of leaked classified information about military use from the UK government, AND secure the safety of some very important people Eric has kidnapped.

Kei and MC both meet Eric, a man with a personality disorder, who is very obsessive toward Kei's beauty. It turns out Eric kidnapped elite scientists, such as a Japanese genetics expert, and an English brain surgeon, to force them to help him "become" Kei via a brain transplant.

Keep in mind that Eric had also searched a lot into Kei's past and knows many things due to his obsession.

In the end, Kei and MC manage to have him arrested with MI6's and EAC's help. They saved the victims and deepened their relationship.

MS 3 (mainly England and Russia - Antagonist: Kai Soejima - Crossover: Eiji Kiyosumi, Ishigami Hideki, Tsugaru Takaomi)

By then, Kei had joined MI6 as an active agent on the field. He went through tough training and became strong and skilled. He got intel through MI6 that a double agent was trying to leak UK information to Russia and has been captured.

On the other hand, MC was sent on a mission to Russia to retrieve the remains of a dead EAC female agent. This agent left behind her clues about the location of the GRU (Russian military intelligence agency) which will be important to remember later.

Soon after, Kei hosts a party for Black Moon, an event where all shady people gather to make deals with each other. Sadly, MC is being targeted by an unknown enemy who wants to capture her there.

She is accused of being a criminal and now all organizations are looking for her, while she is under her Russian alias "Natalya". This situation leads her to travel and hide a lot on her own while finding out who is behind this, but also to make sure Kei is not involved in her mess by protecting her. The EAC also had suspicions about her and basically abandoned her.

Meanwhile, Kei received a confidential information file about his birth family. Upon reading it, he realizes that he has a twin brother, which doesn't particularly interest him either personally nor for the current situation MC is facing. However, with further research, it turns out his twin brother, Kai Soejima, is an elite Russian soldier, and the one behind MC's current downfall.

Scared for MC's safety, and wanting to finally be needed by her, Kei goes to his grandfather Chad, who was both a soldier in the army and a legendary spy during the Cold War, to ask for his help to locate MC to protect her.

Kei manages to find her and decides to not let her fight alone anymore, as he sees the many wounds she got because of all this mess his brother started.

Then, following a clue left by the dead EAC female agent that could be a trap, MC goes to Russia alone and ends up finally facing Kai, who keeps her locked inside the GRU palace. She's handcuffed while he tortures her whenever she refuses to reply to his interrogations about Kei. As he kicks her to the ground, Kei arrives.

We find out Kai's goal was for Kei to deliver Boris, the double agent who worked with the GRU and was captured by the UK because he knew confidential information. If Kei agrees, Boris will leak UK's secrets to Russia, which could start a war.

We learn the reason Kai targeted MC was to use her as bait so that Kei had to choose between his country and her. It's a trade between her or Boris. MC realizes that far from protecting Kei, she actually lured him into a trap unintentionally.

Kei decides to protect MC and fights Kai in a sword duel, but Kai pins him to the ground. At last, Kei pulls out from his breast pocket a soldier puppet/toy made by Yuzuru. Kei yanks the puppet's legs which makes the puppet's gun shoot one of the palace's windows.

Noticing the signal, helipcoters and tanks surround the palace. It was Kei's friends from Black Moon that allied with him to save them from this situation, since many of them held grudges against the Russian Military.

In the end, Kei mentions the GRU palace/facility was already purchased and made into an embassy by England, which means Kei has diplomatic authority and Kai doesn't anymore. Kei lets Kai leave as he doesn't judge it necessary.

Then, Kei and MC also leave since she's still a fugitive and her name hasn't been cleared yet. But they meet the MC's Boss in the snow, and since the EAC turned their back on her when she was depicted as a criminal, she tells her Boss she won't be working with the EAC anymore. Not really wanting to part with her, the boss tells her they can postpone this decision as she's still supposed to be "on vacation". But she insists that she's leaving.

In the end, Kei and MC go back to Kei's room at the Raven in England, with MC now being jobless but reunited with Kei. They both chose each other despite not knowing what the future will hold.

I went and translated some moments from the first 7 chapters (a bit) to give you some general details! The translation might be off at times so I didn't include it but rather gave you some key moments and what you can expect to see.

Some moments and information (I didn't spoil important info, in case you don't want me to):

You'll see Zack a lot! The story begins with him getting a Cruise in the USA and celebrating that with Kazuomi and MC

Zack will ask MC to go on a mission for him at some point!

On the other hand, Kazuomi will be secretly teaming up with Yuzu to obtain confidential information the government has (I think?), knowing this would make MC his enemy

At some point, as MC looks at Zack and Kazuomi and thinks to herself how they really look like a father and his son, she remembers a man she met who looked just like Kazuomi (probably happened before S5 in the story called "Scandal Darling")

She had learned about that man's name (didn't put it here to not spoil), and how no one can find anything about him, not even the EAC or herself

MC is convinced that this man, who has a striking resemblance to Kazuomi, is his long-lost father!

➡ She ends up talking with Zack at some point and asks him questions about Kazuomi's father. She wanted to know if Zack knew Kazuomi's parents, knew where his father was, if he's still alive or not. However, Zack tells her that he looked into all of his children's past and parents before, but as for Kazuomi, he sadly never found anything. MC doesn't want to tell what she learned to Zack without telling Kazuomi before, but she shares that she met a man she thinks might be his father. Zack is surprised to learn that

He then tells MC it's better to keep this to themselves, since if Kazuomi knew, he would try to uncover the man's identity completely.

MC is surprised to learn that he'd maybe do that, but she then thinks about how Kazuomi was never really fond of talking about his father in the first place.

That's it for the first 7 chapters!! I will personally skip the rest of the story to see what his father looks like if he does have a sprite, but I don't want to spoil myself on the content of the story any more since it could ruin my experience.

Hello. In Kazuomi's stories, i noticed he (sometimes) calls Zack 'pops'. I was wondering what word could that have been translated from? The closest i can think of is 'oyaji', but i always thought its meaning is closer to 'elder' or 'old man'. Maybe I'm wrong but what do you think?

I went to check on the Japanese app to know the way he calls Zack, and you got it right. He indeed calls him "Oyaji" (親父)

"Oyaji" also refers to one's "old man", as in to their own "father". It's a casual term. You're not wrong to think it's used when you're referring to old men (it's often used to refer to old men casually or in a slightly disrespectful way), but you can also use it to mention your own father, like in Kazuomi's case

What do you think it'll be if the titles switch MCs? Like if HLITF MC is the new doctor in the EICU, or if MK's MC is the one entering Public Safety Academy?

haha okay who’s ready for my Controversial(tm) opinions about voltage heroines...

i actually want so badly for hlitf mc to be the mc of rmd because... she’s so much cuter? and has... dimension... like you want someone who’s spunky and dorky and relatable but still very humble and hardworking and sweet and cute and empathetic? detective mc is YOUR GIRL. honestly, i can seriously believe every single EICU doctor falling head over heels for how sincere and genuinely kind she is, even when she’s being naive or idealistic. also when she talks back, it’s actually enjoyable and doesn’t come across as arrogant. 

on the flipside, if rmd mc was in the public safety academy, i feel like she would basically just be naruko? and just end up in a friendly and non-romantic instructor/student dynamic with all the instructors (putting aside my personal desire for naruko to end up with chiba... or subaru for some reason?) except she would not just be naruko, but also that one really bitter ex-student from ishigami’s route. 

the masukisu mc is actually like... perfectly suited for being an actual public safety working detective, but we never get to see her actual development/training so if she was as she is now in the academy, it would be super boring bc she never makes mistakes lol and hasn’t yet been pushed into a position where she has to learn and change. plus literally none of the public safety guys are at their best romantically unless they’re dealing with someone as sincere and wholesome as hlitf mc (except like... tsugaru/mk mc banter would be fun maybe? tbh not to be Controversial but i think they could all outsmart her except for goto bc he’s too pure and ishigami bc he just doesn’t have time for that kind of nonsense). personally i’d love to see the kbtbb mc in masukisu bc she’s literally the exact opposite of mk mc so i presume that none of the men would fall for her bc she can’t hold up to that level of like... playing games/trickery (since the premise of each LI’s route only holds up bc mk mc can flirt her way out of a box). but equally, as demonstrated in the eisuke/kazuomi crossover route, mk mc is useless in kbtbb and no one from that game (or from hlitf) likes her. 

i also have a conspiracy theory that destind mc is just mlfk mc from a different timeline, with the difference being that in her (destind mc’s) timeline, she never had a group of childhood friends. but everything else about them is basically the same (except that destind mc is 20x more high maintenance). 

all the “normal mcs thrown into suddenly dramatic situations” are interchangeable (kbtbb, scm, msb, eitm, bmp) bc they’re essentially the same person and i love every single one of them, but i would love for the ‘historical’ mcs from akd and pil and such to be thrown into a modern day title tho and just be absolutely baffled. can you imagine akd mc in like... modern day tokyo? (yes, bc she’s literally the exact same as msb mc but can you imagine her waking up one day in modern japan when the night before she was princess of rapier?) 

anyway i would LOVE for the celebrity darling mc to get some pep talks from hlitf!mc bc our poor sweet girl desperately needs some more confidence. not to be hyperbolic bc obviously i never exaggerate but if she made a cameo in scandal as a popular idol who really made it, i could LITERALLY die a happy camper right then and there. 

irresistible mistakes mc is flawless and would literally be perfect in every single title do NOT @ me on this unless you agree.

i get that the player/reader is supposed to be the mc, but i feel like they’ve started giving their mcs distinct enough personalities that i would love to see them actually interact. i have a longstanding dream of hlitf mc being on security detail for msb mc, and another one where she has a love/hate frenemy relationship with llftx mc. i mean basically maybe i’m biased but i just want a thousand hlitf crossovers where we get to see detective mc interact with men from other games bc honestly the way she treated kyohei and eisuke like.... sends me

[WALKTHROUGH + REVIEW] Masquerade Kiss: Kazuomi Shido Season 2

Today is the last day of the Collector’s Edition campaign so I finally worked up the courage to make a walkthrough for Kazuomi’s Season 2

As always, I have calculated the cheapest ways to get to Eden End and Super Happy Ending, with options to get all CGs or just to spend as few hearts as possible. Bear in mind that this guide does not take plotline into account as some of the more expensive heart scenes tend to carry more story. So some of the heart scenes that I have omitted from some guides may contain more significant narrative moments. 

Don’t forget that to get the Collector’s Edition, you need to get to Eden End in MasuKisu S2, rather than just Super Happy Ending like normal... you know, for certain r€a$o₦$. Kazuomi is surprisingly the cheapest in total out of the S2 routes that have been released thus far, but sadly not the cheapest when you eliminate the unneeded scenes to get to good endings. Either way, with my guides you can save up to almost 50% of the needed hearts for Super Happy Ending or 27% for Eden Ending!

If you have limited hearts but want the Collector’s Edition while it’s available, I would suggest just going with the cheapest guide for now, and then you can always come back and purchase the CGs or scenes that you want later on even when the campaign has ended.

maybe it’s just bc i’m like... old... but honestly masukisu is so tiring to read lmao i’m just skipping through kazuomi’s s2 to the selection screen of each chapter to write my walkthrough before the CE campaign ends but honestly if i had a real life relationship like that i would be ready to hang up my hat after like... 2 weeks. i feel like in real life relationships, i just want to be myself without having to think too much about my persona or whatever but yikes masukisu (aside from yuzu) is 100% just like “how to hide my feelings and true self from this person who is also hiding their feelings and true self from me” and i am..... exhausted....... 

i mean i like to pretend i’m a naturally witty person and can fire off flirty replies without even thinking but honestly if my entire relationship just consisted of banter i just feel like it would be the most tiring and unfulfilling relationship and i would just be done with the drama and games

anyway i hate this scene bc weed is like.... so normal and how can they say that masukisu is this dramatic, thrilling, mature game where all the love interests are morally grey at the very least and are always talking about all the underhanded and illegal things they do to stay where they are in the world, but the mc gets all uppity about WEED?? honestly even tho kazuomi says he doesn't do drugs, i still headcanon him as a cokehead bc there is no way he can be that busy and still have energy otherwise. partaking in drugs is like the least illegal thing that any of them have done lmao it's not even a Big Deal

anyway i’m still laughing at the fact that freja is supposed to be this place where the masukisu mc can keep an eye on the evil men of the world? so like no doubt there’s at least a whole ton of financial fraud going down in that place, and that’s like the non-problematic stuff. i refuse to believe that there isn’t some really terrible stuff happening, like sex trafficking and selling children into slavery, and the mc is just like  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ i’m just gonna hang out with my boyfriend and his associates every night instead of keeping an eye on any of the fraudulent activities that the other guests are partaking in. that’s fine and all, but they keep making it out like the mc is some keeper of peace and justice when she’s literally just a spy for hire? like she doesn’t act based on what’s morally righteous or just, she just... does what her boss tells her to do, and he gets told what to do by whoever is paying them enough money? they still make it out like she’s some kind of superspy hero when she’s basically just there to reinforce the (dare i say corrupted?) will of the top powers in society lmao. 

the second thing is that i also refuse to believe that all these high society, upper echelon type people are just chill with a random new club opening? like they don’t even stop to think that it might be a place where their activities are being monitored? they just get an invite and think like “yeah hey this is chill, let me go discuss my secret activities with this random woman that i’ve never heard of in my life (even though presumably a lot of people in this world probably already run in each others’ circles, or at least know of each other)?”
