"It's because of all of you and your bullying that my child is dead!"
Mastermind!Taichi AU, because why not?
In this AU, Taichi Fujisaki is a widowed father, and his son, Chihiro, was heavily bullied for being "weak" by other Ultimates after enrolling in Hope's Peak Academy, eventually getting killed by said bullies after one of their mean-spirited pranks went horribly wrong.
Hope's Peak Academy covered up the murder, so the bullies responsible for the prank got off scot-free. But Taichi still found out what happened and masterminded the killing game to take revenge on Hope's Peak and the students who took away the one piece of family he had left after the death of his wife.

i genuinely feel so much that nobody talks nearly enough abt komaru being able to see and communicate with ghosts which is sorely needed for every possible reason. i know the megaphone is cool and i love the megaphone but having a ghost mechanic on top of it would have been fucking awesome. komaru would have been way too cracked if she was in a mainline game bc she could have just asked the murder victim exactly what happened or ask a ghost to find the mastermind and finish the whole killing game at chapter 2. she could use it for rlly arbitrary things too like cheating at blackjack to get some money to like. repair the city.
just in general among the other things the udg characters are insanely overpowered. literally only one person in the entire main cast actually died for reals, being yuta, who would have tanked the hit like a pro gamer if he wasnt in the water. bringing that guy back as a ghost mechanic would have been the actual perfect setup too
im rambling here and idk where im going with this but like. literally all of the udg characters are insanely overpowered how did taichi survive having his throat ripped out what is that man made of. how did nagisa survive being crushed under a mech. you could kill an ultimate by blowing on them too hard but you could drop a central udg character in a demolition site and they'd walk it off
i have no idea why i sent this actually i just felt the need to spout rlly pointless shit abt udg
I’m very mixed on this.
On one hand, I would have loved to see Komaru talk to ghosts more. There were so many dead bodies in Towa City, Komaru could be able to talk to those people to understand the extent of the war going on.
On the other, ghosts ruin the impact of death for me. Knowing that even if someone dies a tragic death, you can just talk to them after makes it feel pointless. I’ve always loved how Danganronpa shows death. Anyone can die, even the protagonist, and that’s simply the end. Those moments in the trials, when the main character thinks about how the victim felt, are very strong to me. Hajime thinking about how Nagito will never confuse him again, but will also never help him again. What was Sakura thinking? What was Hiyoko thinking? What was Miu thinking? They can’t tell you anymore. Danganronpa 2 is a little weak with this since it had its whole “everyone but Chiaki comes back” thing, but still, they didn’t reappear again, so I was content.
But again, everyone in udg has unique gifts, and Komaru’s talking to ghosts still interests me. It opens up a whole new realm of possibilities and I want to see more of it.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Updated Tier Ranking Memes!
I redid some older tier ranking memes (plus one all-new one) using the format used for this one, which categorizes quality really well: "Best of the Best" is the S Tier for the subjects I love enough to choose to personally exalt over the other "Great" ones, "Great" is the A Tier for those other ones, "Good" is the B Tier for exceptionally good quality that just falls a little shy of fully solid greatness, "Okay" is the C Tier for the "Mid", the most basic bitch "you're alright" quality and feelings, "Bad" is the D-E Tier for what falls below that baseline of quality general badness, and "Trash" is the F Tier for the most abysmal of all, the bottom of the barrel or even far bellow the bottom.

If 9Digi-Protagonists were SHSL...
In Danganronpa AU...
Taichi: SHSL Prime Leader
(He will be the most dangerous and manipulative mastermind.)
Daisuke: SHSL Loyal Brother
(I... do not have any headcanon for him, so sad for my puppy-like boy.)
Takato: SHSL Hazard Dreamer
(Did I mention that he had gone hazard mode and killed someone because his cousin, Matsuda Yasuke, has been killed? And cosplayed all others like some cosplayers?)
Takuya: SHSL Flame Warrior
(Can have the same ideology like a white-haired SHSL Lucky Student or not...)
Masaru: SHSL Street Fighter
(Alright, the second Daimon, anything.)
Taiki: SHSL Strategic General
(Maybe the leader of the Remnant...)
Tagiru: SHSL Competitive Hunter
(...)
Haru: SHSL Android Researcher
(Maybe creating some very dangerous Existals or not. They may have their own mind or not.)
Hiro: SHSL Support Detective
(5% is that he will end all killing game.)
Any suggestion for refining?

31 Days of Digimon, Day 4:
they'd all support yamato's band in their own ways. jou has a little button pin of KoD on his bag. :) wholesome. cute.
we already know sora makes it to every show.
mimi and taichi would be decked out in KoD merch and ppl would be like, "oh, you know ishida yamato?" and with the T-shirt and wristbands and bandana and all, mimi's like, "no. who's that?"
takeru in oversized knife of day merch,,, give takeru the sweater paws please i need takeru with sweaterpaws?? (grabby hands)
hikari and miyako would get together to sell "limited edition" photos of yamato they take when yamato's not looking. hikari has a devious side, we all know it.
(takeru, the troll, he'd either play innocent or maybe he's the mastermind behind it all.)

'Andrew Scott, known for his electrifying performances and magnetic screen presence, has consistently stolen the spotlight in both film and television. Whether you know him as the sinister Moriarty from Sherlock or the charming priest in Fleabag, Scott’s versatile acting chops have made him a favorite among audiences seeking depth and complexity in their screen heroes. His ability to pivot from dark, intense roles to light-hearted characters showcases his broad appeal and skill in bringing diverse personas to life, making his work a must-watch for any entertainment lover. Our editors have provided a binge-worthy summary of Scott’s work for your viewing pleasure.
Movies
1. “Pride”
Pride (2014) – In the 2014 film Pride, Andrew Scott delivers a compelling performance as Gethin Roberts, a quiet and reflective gay bookshop owner. The film, set during the UK miners’ strike of 1984-85, tells the uplifting true story of Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners, which formed an unlikely alliance with a small Welsh mining community. Scott’s portrayal of Gethin is profoundly moving, highlighting the struggles and triumphs of the LGBT community during a tumultuous time.
2. Spectre (2015)
In the James Bond film Spectre, Andrew Scott steps into the sophisticated world of espionage as Max Denbigh, also known as ‘C.’ Playing the role of the head of the Joint Intelligence Service, which includes MI5 and MI6, Scott’s character is a bureaucrat with a sharp, modern edge, pushing for global surveillance over traditional espionage tactics. His performance is chillingly effective, portraying a man whose smooth demeanor and polished exterior belie his more profound, duplicitous intentions.
3. 1917 (2019)
In the critically acclaimed film 1917, directed by Sam Mendes, Andrew Scott delivers a memorable performance as Lieutenant Leslie. Although his screen time is brief, Scott’s portrayal of the weary, sardonic officer is impactful, leaving a lasting impression. Set against the backdrop of World War I, his character provides the two young soldiers with crucial information and supplies. Still, it does so with a palpable sense of cynicism and exhaustion that vividly conveys the brutal realities of trench warfare.
4. All of Us Strangers (2023)
In the hauntingly beautiful film All of Us Strangers, Andrew Scott delivers a nuanced portrayal of Adam, a lonely screenwriter drawn back to his childhood home, where he embarks on an intimate relationship with his enigmatic downstairs neighbor. Directed by Andrew Haigh and based on Taichi Yamada’s novel “Strangers,” the film explores themes of isolation, memory, and the subtle ways individuals seek connection and healing from past traumas.
5. Locke (2013)
In the film Locke, directed by Steven Knight, Andrew Scott plays a pivotal supporting role as Donal, an anxious construction foreman. Although Scott’s character never appears on screen, his voice performance over the phone is integral to the narrative. The film unfolds in real-time, predominantly featuring Tom Hardy’s character, Ivan Locke, as he drives through the night, making several life-altering phone calls. Scott’s character, Donal, is one of the recipients of these calls, tasked with preparing for a massive concrete pour scheduled for the following morning.
TV Shows
1. Sherlock (2010-2017)
In the hit TV series Sherlock, Andrew Scott brilliantly portrays the character of Jim Moriarty, the arch-nemesis of Sherlock Holmes. Scott’s portrayal of Moriarty is chilling and charismatic, bringing a unique blend of playfulness and menace to the role. His character is a mastermind criminal who thrives on chaos and intellectual games, creating a thrilling foil to Sherlock’s analytical prowess. Scott’s performance is marked by its intensity and unpredictability, which adds a palpable tension to his scenes, particularly in his interactions with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock.
2. Fleabag (2016-2019)
In the acclaimed series Fleabag, Andrew Scott captivates audiences as the charming and enigmatic “Hot Priest,” a character who becomes a pivotal figure in the second season. Scott’s portrayal is layered and magnetic, blending humor, spirituality, and vulnerability in a way that profoundly resonates with the show’s protagonist, played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and the audience alike. His character challenges Fleabag’s perceptions of herself and the world around her, offering a mix of wit and wisdom that pushes the boundaries of their unconventional relationship.
3. His Dark Materials (2019-2022)
In the fantasy series His Dark Materials, Andrew Scott takes on the role of Colonel John Parry, also known as Jopari or Dr. Stanislaus Grumman. His character is introduced in the second season as a pivotal figure, a shaman from our world who has crossed into the parallel universe of Lyra’s world. Scott imbues Colonel Parry with a mysterious and solemn presence, capturing the depth and complexity of a man burdened by his knowledge and powers and his responsibilities in the cosmic battle against oppressive forces.
4. The Pursuit of Love (2021)
In the television adaptation of Nancy Mitford’s novel The Pursuit of Love, Andrew Scott shines as Lord Merlin, the eccentric and flamboyant neighbor of the Radlett family. His portrayal of Lord Merlin brings a vibrant and exuberant spirit to the series, perfectly capturing the character’s avant-garde lifestyle and bohemian ethos that starkly contrasts with the more traditional attitudes of the other characters. Scott’s performance is charismatic and nuanced, embodying the liberating influence of Lord Merlin on the protagonist, Linda Radlett, played by Lily James.
5. Black Mirror (2011-2019)
In the Black Mirror episode titled “Smithereens,” Andrew Scott delivers a gripping performance as Chris, a rideshare driver, grappling with profound grief and guilt stemming from a personal tragedy linked to social media. His portrayal vividly captures the intense emotional turmoil of his character, who kidnaps an intern from a major tech company in a desperate bid for attention and resolution. Scott’s ability to convey deep psychological pain and moments of explosive frustration highlights the episode’s critique of modern tech companies’ influence and the human cost of constant connectivity. The episode is a standout in the series, mainly due to Scott’s compelling performance that masterfully balances desperation with a haunting vulnerability.'

The Doctor.
Here. Some warm drinks.
...
*Taichi enters the Foundation meeting room in the Tower, with a cup of warm tea for Seiko. He hands it to her and she drinks it with a smile.
So how have things gone down here?
We unfortunately haven’t made much progress. The lead researcher just went to grab 404 and Saihara, but Seiko hasn’t said so much as a word to us.
I see...Well, I did just contact Chihiro to inform him of everything that’s happened, including your safe arrival back and the sudden appearance of Ms Kimura.
Hehe...Mr Nidai certainly sounded excited in the background.
...
Nekomaru’s been keeping Branch 4 afloat while you’ve been gone Seiko. I think he should get an award once you have the chance to meet with him again.
Hmph...No pressure.
That’s not what I meant!
Yeah, I know, I’m just fucking with you...
I see that Ms Asahina decided not to join us...
Hina said she would stick around, but...since she decided to quit Future Foundation, she’s choosing not to join these meetings.
So it’s official...Hina really did quit?
No. She has yet to sign any resignation documents...However, that’s simply because we haven’t found the time or place to.
Still, if she’s not in the mood to participate, I won’t force her to.
...
You know you could...like...say something...right?
...
Has she lost her voice by any chance?
Even if she’d lost her voice, we’d still be able to get a bit out of her.
*Byakuya sits down on a chair opposite her, everyone watching.
I’ll go easy on you of course, but I hope you know we need to ask you a lot of questions.
...
Feel free to take your time with them, but we need to know...How did you escape Zetsubou’s base...and do you know where it is...
What’s the status of the other kidnapped people should you know it? Do you know anything about what Zetsubou are planning?
Jeez Togami. Ain’t that a lot right out of the gate.
Well to be fair, he did give a warning.
I...
Hm?
I...want to...tell...but...I...don’t...know if...if I can...
What do you mean by that?
And why are you speaking so slowly?
Kamu...kura...the...pill...he...
Pill? What pill!? Spit it out!
I...he...Gh...
GHLEARGH!
!!!???
SEIKO!?
WHAT THE HELL!?
!!?
!!?
*Had Seiko not been wearing her mask, she would have vomited blood all over Byakuya. As it stands, she loses her strength and collapses to the floor.
I...spoke too...EUARGH!
What happened!?
Seiko, are you ok!?
Stop! STOP TALKING!
*Rei suddenly rushes over to Seiko. Everyone goes silent thinking she’s speaking to them as a collective, but she crouches down and moves Seiko’s body in an interesting way. Within a few moments, Seiko’s breathing returns to normal and her face regains what little color it has.
...Thanks...
Stop...talking...!
...
What...the hell was that!?
Rei...is it really the same thing?
Hm...It seems so...the circumstances seem different, but there’s no doubt it’s the same affliction. Kimura...Did Uchui Kamukura do this to you?
...
*Seiko nods.
Was it using a machine?
...
*Seiko shakes her head.
I see...
Hold on a second, we need to take a few steps back!
Mekaru...What just happened to her!? Do you know?
It seems to me this was the cost of Seiko Kimura’s freedom.
To make a long story short, Uchui Kamukura has taken...or rather limited...Seiko Kimura’s ability to communicate with us. Should she try she’ll feel nauseous and...well you saw for yourself what happened.
But why...!? And HOW?
And more to the point, how do you know about all of this?
...Because I’ve seen it in action before...During my own Killing Game.
The Kibougamine Gakuen?
How much to you all know about that Killing Game specifically?
Information on the Kibougamine Killing Game is mainly in the hands of the Kisaragi Foundation. Most of what Future Foundation knows is limited to three things.
First, Tsurugi Kinjo, Teruya Otori, and yourself, Rei Mekaru, were the only three survivors.
Second...The mastermind of the Killing Game was the Ultimate Maid, Akane Taira, and Utsuro, the boy with the power of Divine Luck.
And third and finally, the Killing Game itself was a ploy by Junko Enoshima in preperation for the “First” Mutual Killing Game between the 78th Class at Hope’s Peak.
Yes, that’s all accurate. But since it wasn’t broadcasted like the other Killing Game’s, a lot of things happened during it that don’t really get talked about.
One such thing was a situation involving Mikako Kurokawa, who now works with us in Kisaragi Foundation, and her adoptive brother, Yamato Kisaragi.
As Munakata stated, the Killing Game was hosted as a test for Yasuke Matsuda’s memory erasure technique’s that he used to erase the academy memories of the 78th Class. Before he used it then, he tried it on us.
However, Yamato had found out about Utsuro and Taira’s plan in advance, and had prepared a countermeasure in case anything went wrong. One such countermeasure, was the MRD.
“MRD?” What’s that?
It stands for Memory Retention Device. And as the name implies, using it completely blocked the effects of Matsuda’s brainwashing. Allowing those who used it to retain their memories of before the Killing Game.
This came at a cost however. Say, most of you have met Kako before, right? What was your first impression of her?
Well...She has a gloomy and sketchy appearance, but she seems to mean well.
Well, before the Killing Game, Kako was a confident and defiant spirit. She wasn't afraid to speak up against anything that was wrong and always had a strong sense of justice and hope.
But thanks to the MRD, that changed. The machine had some side effects that severely altered both Kako and Yamato’s personalities, and not only that...
They also both suffered from afflictions that made it difficult to communicate with us, hence why neither could tell us the truth. In Mikako’s case, if she tried to communicate at length with us, it would result in massive migraines and brain damage...
Damage so severe that in the end...it basically killed her.
Wait...so you’re saying that Seiko-!?
...
I doubt Kamukura has recreated the machine, but there’s a highly probably chance that he’s used another method to recreate the effects.
On top of migraines being caused by speaking, it also makes sign language and writing on paper impossible. And it hurts your body to try in equally terrible ways.
Basically, Kamukura has rendered Dr Kimura’s speaking skills useless.
...Uchui...
Damn that albino motherfucker...! How could he DO something like this!?
Actually Leon...not that I’m trying to defend Kamukura or anything but...I think he might have actually saved Seiko’s life with this method.
What? What do you mean?
Put yourself in Zetsubou’s shoes for a brief moment. You’ve finished using Seiko for what you need her for, and there’s no reason to keep her around any more.
But if you let her go free, there’s nothing stopping her from running back to her friends here at the Future Foundation, and telling them everything she knows about Zetsubou’s secret plans, and the location of their secret base. In that situation, what would you do?
Well...I’d probably either keep her locked up forever or...
Or KILL her...
And I’m willing to bet that Shirogane was going to do exactly one of those two things.
Seiko might not be able to spill the beans about Zetsubou, but at least she’s ALIVE and SAFE. Right?
Yeah, you’ve got a point.
Yeah...and on top of that, there actually is some good news.
*Everyone looks at Setsuka.
Oh yeah? What’s that?
Kisaragi Foundation were able to salvage Yamato’s old machine after the end of the Killing Game. We destroyed it, but before we did, we ran some tests on it’s properties.
And we found a cure to the affliction it causes.
...!?
So assuming Seiko’s affliction is along the same lines, we can help her!?
...Yes.
What’s the catch?
Huh?
The way you said that sounds sus. You hesitated for a second there. The good news is that we can cure Seiko, so what’s the bad news that comes with it?
Hmph...You’re annoyingly perceptive...But yes, unfortunately, there is a catch.
It’s not just being perceptive. We just can’t have nice things come to us for free like...EVER.
Sad as it is to say, Kurafto is right...All of our victory’s lately always come at a cost...Chances are we’ll need to work for this one.
Alright. The catch is that even though we know there’s a cure, neither Setsuka, nor myself, nor any key member of the Kisaragi Foundation can actually FASHION said cure...
Except for one person.
Who?
Dr Hikaru Ando.
...!
Makoto: That name sounds familiar...
Taichi: Yes, it would do. I’m sure everyone is aware of it by this point, but before his escape, Nagito Komaeda confessed that Organization Zetsubou had ressurected Kanata Inori, the Ultimate Surgeon, as part of their plan to mass-produce Ultimate Hope’s.
Setsuka: Hikaru Kanata’s father. He adopted her after he saved her from a car crash that also killed her birth parents.
Rei: And then there’s the real problem...Dr Ando has been missing for 7 years now.
Sayaka: 7 years!? What happened?
Setsuka: I don’t know. But ever since you brought me back to life, it’s the primary case Tsun-Tsun has me working on. Ando just up and disappeared one day, and what’s more, the Kisaragi AI that used to manage the Foundation went with him.
Leon: Kisaragi AI?
Kyoko: Yamato Kisaragi made an Alter Ego of himself, and just like Chihiro’s Alter Ego, it came to be the CPU for most of the Kisaragi Foundation’s network.
Yoruko: How does something like that just go MISSING all of a sudden?
Rei: We don’t know, but it’s made life a hell of a lot harder for us at the Kisaragi Foundation. Hence why we’re searching for both the doctor and the AI.
So if we want to cure Seiko and defeat Zetsubou, our first order of business will be tracking down Dr Ando.
Our connections are limited, but we’ll make use of any we do have to crack down on the search.
We also have Yuki and his Whitecloak companion searching. They’ll bring whatever info from the streets they find right back to us.
So what do we do for now then?
Hm...It might be worth going out and getting Ms Kimura some painkillers and headache medicine. We can’t cure her affliction, but we can certainly settle it.
...
Got it. Since she’s out and about, I’ll grab Hina, and we can go together.

hi i saw your requests open and was wondering if you could write a a ghost scenario type for shiratorizawa boys (cos they live in dorms or anyone you're comfortable with) where there is a rumour going around that one of their school bathrooms is haunted and reader (bonus if its their manager) and the boys try to do a ghost hunt at night to see if its real or not but they get scared cos they hear smth and think its the ghost but its like actually the janitor or smth? please thank you 😊
Hi!! This is actually my first time writing for shiratorizawa, and for this type of rrquest actually, I’m excited 😆 also, I’m sorry this took a while T_T but anyway, it’s nearly halloween so I guess it’s fitting that I post this now. Hope you like it!
Halloween Haunt
Shiratorizawa + reader
Content & Warnings: crack, fluff if you squint
“Practice is over, you’re all dismissed” coach washio announced. Once he’s out of the gym, tendou immediately made his own announcement. You were sitting on the bleachers together with the third years when he asked: “Hey have you heard about the rumors? Apparently there’s this one girl who saw a ghost in one of the bathrooms” semi’s face perked up before he added to tendou’s statement. “Yeah yeah I heard about it. Do you know aiko from class 2? She also had an experience with that stuff”
“We should totally go ghost hunting” tendo suggested. Ushijima surprisingly agreed. The others who agreed to join were goshiki, shirabu, semi, reon, and of course, the mastermind of it all, tendo. Others such as taichi declined the offer. Said he had to study .
11:37 pm. You heard a faint knock on your door, signaling that the rest of the guys were ready for your “ghost hunt”. Not that you believed them but might as well join on on the fun since halloween parties weren’t exactly an option when you were staying in dorms. Semi greeted you once you opened the door. “Come on, they’re all waiting for us”. You closely followed him as you couldn’t see well. A few minutes of walking and you finally caught sight of the rest of the team. Goshiki obviously terrified out of his wits, tendo enjoying the jitters from the other members and ushijima all relaxed and calm. Typical of the boys, you thought. “Should we split into two groups?” You asked. “Nah, I don’t think we should. There’s not much of us anyway” semi said, gaining a couple of agreeing nods from the others. “Okay. Where to then?” Shirabu led the way. Honestly, this whole plan was a surprise to you. These guys were usually very keen on practicing and being efficient yet here you all were, hunting ghosts. You walked in pairs, ushijima the one walking beside you at the back. “We’re almost there” shirabu whispered as he took a left turn. Once you all made the turn, everyone halted. The comfort room lights were on. Every other room had its lights turned off. AND, there was a faint humming. You weren’t sure if you were just imagining things but the sight of the others frozen in place and stiff, you knew it wasn’t just you. The humming grew louder and louder, the entity seemed to be approaching the door out of the comfort room. Tendo no longer looked amused. When a foot stepped out of the comfort room, one of the guys shrieked loudly. You weren’t even sure who. Everyone too scared to even try to run away. The entity stepped out completely and it walked closer to where you guys were. You would have ran away had ushijima not been keeping a defensive stance beside you. His presence was somehow comforting.
The tension dissipated and the fear evaporated into mid air when you all got a clearer view of who came out of the comport room. It was the janitor. Which was even worse. Because a ghost wouldn’t have snitched on you but the janitor just did. So now you all have extra practice and community service for the rest of the month.

Rain on windows
Day 13-16: rain/shine
summary: while waiting for the rest of their friends to arrive, Koushiro and Hikari have time to talk about the rain… @koushirohikari
“Looks like we are the first ones here,” Hikari let out a breath, gazing out the damp window at the glowing neon lights from afar. The soft glow of pink and red from the bright sign that screamed Bowling for Ice Cream fell delicately on her pale skin.
“Looks like it.” The response came from the boy in the driver seat as he clicked the car into park. Koushiro’s eyes avoided the warm, naturally radiant figure in the passenger seat and looked out at the cool raindrops slowly drifting down the side of his window. He sighed, thinking about the numerous miscalculations his friends made prior to this moment.
One minute he was over at the Yagami residence discussing different cheat codes in a new game that he was playing with Taichi, and then the next Taichi received a phone call from Mimi. She was in town from America and wanted to see if the group could meet up for a couple rounds of bowling and some ice cream. So the two masterminds on the phones exchanged plans, rather poorly, how the group would meet. Taichi insisted on picking up everyone in his new SUV, but once he realized that his car can only sit six people, it was too late. It was then that Taichi asked Koushiro to drive Hikari to the place while he kept his promise and drove the rest of the group. It took some convincing, but Koushiro complied to the request. He didn’t realize until now how much extra time he was going to have now…
Now he sat there, staring at the falling raindrops sliding down the window, patiently waiting for the rest of the group to arrive. He wondered how the rain could create such an infinite amount of little droplets each reflecting the fluorescent lights to put on a silent show. He pondered on what emotion flooded into his mind when observing such a display. Sadness? Confusion? Longing? He couldn’t pinpoint it.
He looked over at the girl sitting next to him for an answer. She mirrored his actions, except she was tracing the drops with her tiny finger as they fell from view of the window. His eyes narrowed a bit, analyzing her actions to see if he could pick up her thoughts. Was she conducting a race with the water droplets? Or was she thinking the same questions he was? Koushiro caught a glimpse of light in her eyes when she placed her hand down on her lap and kept her gaze to the rain. Was it longing, too? Or was it filled with hope? She didn’t seem to look at the rain sadly, but rather looking for her love in the rain.
“Why do people associate rain with sadness?” She said, quiet enough for him to hear.
Her voice caught him off guard, causing him to look out the windshield. He let out an unknowingly held breath. “What makes you say that, Hikari?”
“Well,” she began, a bit hesitant in her next words. “For most, rain makes people sad. They had a negative connotations it. Connecting bad feelings to something that is not necessarily bad.”
Koushiro slowly nodded his head. “Yeah, make sense. So what are you trying to get at?”
She took a breath and looked at the boy next to her. “It is important to know that the rain can make some people sad, but only until we see closely the beauty of a single raindrop is when we start to appreciate the little things in life.” She brought her gaze up to meet the boy’s dark eyes. A nervous laugh escaped her lips as she shook her head and looked at her hands on her lap. “I mean, I guess I never had any negative feelings toward the rain.”
“So you have positive ones?”
She smiled softly, light from the environment reflecting off it. “With Taichi. We used to wish for rain so badly so we could jump and play in the puddles.” Then she started to giggle. “Or with Sora and Mimi. We went window shopping when it started to downpour. All we could do was laugh like crazy because there was nothing we could do.” She then paused for a moment. “I think those are some of my favorite memories with them.”
Koushiro chuckled at her stories. “I see.”
A hum came from the passenger seat. “Do you have any favorite memories with any of our friends?”
Koushiro turned his head to face her. Their eyes met, making Hikari let out another nervous laugh.
“I mean, it doesn’t necessarily have to do with rain, so anything could do.” The words rushed out of her mouth to fill the vacant air between them.
Koushiro brought a pondering hand up to his chin in thought. “Who were you thinking?”
“Taichi.” His name was the first one to pop in her head.
He stopped and thought for a couple minutes, thoroughly running through all the records and files in his brain to think of a find memory he has associated with that name. “I think when Taichi and I stopped for some snacks on the way to movie theater. He tried to shove as many treats and snacks into his shirt as he can without being suspicious.” He looked over at Hikari’s raised eyebrow. “Taichi paid for them, of course. He just looked so ridiculous!”
Hikari could help but smile and moved her gaze back to him. “How about Sora?”
He again stopped and thought for a couple minutes before speaking. “When she brought me some yellow flowers for my promotion I received at my job.
“Yamato?”
A couple beats passed by before Koushiro could answer. “Probably when he came over to help me study. He started playing his harmonica, and I swear it is the only thing that helped me pass that exam.”
She laughed at that that story. “Excuse me, what? Yamato helped you?”
He chuckled and looked at her. “Yes, I hate to admit it sometimes, but I don’t know everything.”
She laughs hung in the air for a bit before the drops of rain overwhelmed it. A pause intruded before she broke in. “What about me?”
In an instant, Koushiro looked down at her hands and smile softly Hikari could see the memory flowing easily through the boy’s mind as he spoke. “It was at your house. Taichi invited me over, but for some reason, he wasn’t home yet. Just you. You suggested that we play Nintendo in Taichi’s room. After some negotiations, we agreed on Mario Kart. You said you were not good at that game, but you managed to win every round. And every round, you were so happy to take the lead and win. You would laugh, cheer, and pretend to be a sore winner by rubbing it in my face. But I know we were just playing around and buying time before your brother came home. Seeing you smile was better than winning I suppose.”
When eyes reached her, the realization of what he just said hit him the a turtle shell in Mario Kart. His cheeks felt hot and he started to stutter. “I mean, there are so many memories with you, it’s so hard to pick one…”
She leaned toward him to catch his dark eyes in hers again. “I guess we will have to make more then.”
The tiny taps of the raindrops on the roof of the car played with the pitter-patter of his heartbeat. Before he could respond, solid knocks bombarded the pair. Koushiro turned his head to see a taller boy.
“Hey, guys; we’re all here! Sorry it took so long! Let’s get going; I’m hungry!” Taichi screamed through the still-closed window and started to walk toward the entrance of the bowling alley. The group of the remaining Digidestined were right behind the leader. Taichi started splashing in the puddles, gaining some scowls from Yamato and Sora and some light laughter for Takeru.
Koushiro slowly turned to look back at Hikari. She only shrugged her shoulders.
“Ready to go?” She asked.
“I guess so,” he responded.
As they both exited, the rain continued to pour heavily; however, it did not give Koushiro a negative feeling like prior. The rain falling down on him reminded him of Hikari. It was falling rather hard, and now, he was too.

understanding fujisaki chihiro’s personality via her talent (thereby explaining her actions in the killing game)
I’ve been having some thoughts swirling around in my head recently about Fujisaki My Beloved, so I’m trying to explain them in a stream of consciousness. Sorry if this is a little incoherent.
Fujisaki’s programming prowess was born out of necessity and adversity. Because she was too weak to play outside, and other kids terrorised her for being feminine and weak, she spent her time alone inside. This led to her messing around with her father’s laptop, and discovering she was actually a computer genius.
They say necessity is the father of invention, and you could arguably apply this to Fujisaki’s character. However, perhaps it would be better to word this as “adversity is the father of potential”. When faced with all these challenges in childhood – bullying, disadvantages, and eventually having to repress a major part of her identity* in hopes of being accepted – instead of completely shutting down, Fujisaki found one thing she could call her own – a programming hobby – and mastered it. In other words, when faced with adversity, as much as she may put herself down and see only her weakness that other people harassed her for, Fujisaki Chihiro rises up in some way or another, making something beautiful under the pressure. This programming genius is something uniquely Fujisaki. It is a core part of her identity, she is known for being the best in the country at what she does, she lights up when she gets to talk about the subject, she pours her heart and soul into her creations - so much so that her ultimate invention, Alter Ego, was made in her image (but we’ll get to that). Remembering that Fujisaki had to repress and hide one of the most important parts about herself – her “gender identity”* – in order to get by, it could even explain why she fell so in love with her programming.
Her ability to code was the one thing about her identity no one could really take from her, because for once no one had a problem with it; hell, it’s even notable that Fujisaki assumed Taichi was going to get angry at her for messing around with his computer (in a similar way to how Fujisaki was terrorised by her peers for everything she did, if not for the fact that it’s typically not very nice to mess with someone’s computer without permission) and her pleasant surprise at being supported and admired by her father for her skill gave her room to continue to hone her skills.
The TL;DR of all this is that it was only due to Fujisaki’s problems that she ended up falling into programming, becoming the best programmer in the entire country (at least for her age group, but she is hired by big companies so we can assume she does well among adults too), and creating all these amazing things. No matter what you make Fujisaki face, she will somehow make something incredible out of it. She will deal with hardships in surprising but often beautiful ways.
This is all a preface to the statement that Fujisaki’s actions upon being faced with the secrets motive, then, should come as no surprise. It’s tempting to view her choice to tell a trusted friend the truth about herself in such a possibly dangerous situation when faced with blackmail, as opposed to simply panicking and falling into despair, as her make-or-break moment, the decision in which her personality does a 180 and she changes forever. However, I feel this is doing a disservice to who she always had been, though she doesn’t really give herself credit for it. Fujisaki always had a tendency to take the bad situation she found herself in and produce something good out of it. It happened the moment she turned a computer on due to having no other options, so it obviously happened the moment the mastermind threatened Fujisaki with an outing that could ruin her life and she chose to subvert the Mastermind’s desires and take matters into her own hands. This ability is what granted her the metaphorical strength that towered over basically anyone else who ever held her physical weakness against her, and is an ability that, say, Oowada didn’t possess (but this isn’t about him).
And this is not only subtle but ever-present. Even after she dies. When she finds a broken, good-for-nothing laptop in Hope’s Peak, she (obviously) tinkers around with it and creates Alter Ego. What’s first of note, though I won’t expand on it too much, is that it was made in her own image - the only main difference is that it uses 僕 for itself, in a way Fujisaki could not due to wishing to conceal her true identity**. I’ve already mentioned how programming was basically the one part of Fujisaki’s identity she wasn’t terrorised for or needed to hide and how this most likely contributed to why she liked it so much – and Alter Ego is a demonstration of how Fujisaki therefore used programming as a means of being her true self*; creating a version of herself that she desires to be that lives behind the screen. And Alter Ego’s existence, especially in the Killing Game, is further proof of how she rises up against hardship. Some have theorised that Fujisaki made Alter Ego and put it in the locker that night because she knew she wouldn’t be alive much longer, and I’m inclined to agree. Her desire to help lives on, her desire to help her friends out of the KG lives on beyond Fujisaki herself. Through the bad situation – that is, her impending demise – she built something that helped her friends rise up against the Mastermind.
This disposition of Fujisaki’s is a direct juxtaposition to whatever the hell despair is (though Danron’s writers have a habit of forgetting that despair isn’t just, like, anything that hurts). Despair, being defined purely as “the absence of hope”, is the feeling that there is no longer anything that can be done is an undesirable situation. Fujisaki has been pushed into all sorts of corners and faced with constant ridicule from her peers just for being herself, but has always found some way to shine through. This is why it’s only natural that instead of hitting a brick wall when Monokuma announced the secrets motive, she used it as motivation to change and work towards being the strong person she had wanted to become since the beginning. This disposition surprised the Mastermind almost as much as it pissed her off, only being satisfied again when things turned sour for Fujisaki due to not fault of her own. Of course it would surprise the Mastermind, a brain so hooked on despair that anything which denies it power simply doesn’t add up.
And now we come to the obvious conclusion; that this is why Fujisaki is the character chosen to be “the one that lived on after death”. This one actually comes from an interview with the creators (which I reference a LOT)***, in which they state that Fujisaki’s programming talent was used as a means of making her a “revivable” sort of character. Knowing that what granted the other six survivors their right to survival was to battle against the despair of the KG, its motives, and the truth about The Tragedy, it makes sense that Fujisaki should survive alongside them somehow. It makes sense that Naegi having hope is how Alter Ego managed to save him. It makes sense that she’s a crucial part of the Future Foundation. Fujisaki cannot give into despair by design.
* as portrayed in canon, different to how it is perceived here ** however 僕女 exist *** warning for brief transphobic sentiment in interview
