We recently teamed up with Mastered and the legendary art director Fabien Baron to complete a brief titled The Art of Looking. Fabien asked the Mastered network to come together and take a closer look at the people, places and things in front of them. i-D magazine then chose their top 15 submissions and published these on i-d.vice.com

Our collaboration looks at the intimate life of a private person in the public eye. Najaarak aka Dj Courtesy is a world touring DJ, about to release her first EP.  She is based between her hometown of Copenhagen and Berlin, but every weekend she is off in some far corner of the world making thousands of people dance and sweat.  

We wanted to have look at all sides of her life.  We are interested in the mask on/ mask off juxtaposition of an artist as we follow her from day to night in her home, studio, and neighbourhood in Berlin.   This collaboration shows a different side of techno, and challenges the template and context of shooting djs/producers and create a real connection to the artist in a tangible way.

Disposable, editorial in @laudmagazine • • I had such a fun day on this shoot in London.. It was my birthday and I was doing the @masteredhq makeup accelerator and it was the best experience of my life.. However I still remember even at the start of this year how sheepish I was to send stories off as my editorials constantly get rejected by magazines to this very day. But I sent it to Laud anyway.. And it was accepted. If I had one piece of advice to give, it would be to do what you want to do.. Do not listen to anyone who wants to put you into a box that they believe you should be in because they are limited by their own experience. I cried my eyes out continuously when all these amazing experts I was being put in front of were litteraly all telling me the same thing- That it was too much, no one would accept it and one even told me that I would only ever make something from myself if I assisted someone for a few years no one would ever pay me for my work and that it would always just be personal work, well.. Not only has my work been accepted but there is litteraly a new magazine created for work just like mine that has no home @laud_unleashed And I’m one of the fucking Editors!!! So if you believe in something fucking do it every day and block anyone out who doesn’t share your vision..
