fuck it. massive pile of byrgenwerth headcanons
Willem was a decorated and well-established scholar from a wealthy family. When he decided to depart his previous university and establish a new one near some recently-rediscovered historical sites, no one really thought twice, but very few followed him. Not many wanted to brave the bitter winters of the mountainlands (and, though no one would admit it, the rumors of a blood-drinking aristocracy and immortal monarch certainly played a part in many a scholar's decision). That was alright, to him. His ideas attracted company.
Laurence was one of Willem's students, and decided to put his doctorate on hold in order to follow his favorite professor to the newly-established university. He admired Willem's boldness and willingness to break new ground, to challenge assumptions about what was impossible. Over time, he grew disillusioned as Willem began urging caution towards the findings from the labyrinths, eventually leading to the Byrgenwerth schism. By the time he would have realized his mistake, he was too far gone to understand what was happening to him.
Gehrman was initially a simple mercenary hired to escort scholars through the tombs. However, the bond he fostered with Laurence drove him to catch up with the rest of the students and participate directly in their research. Eventually, he became something of a gold standard for tomb prospectors, and only those willing to follow in his footsteps were permitted access to the deeper layers of the labyrinths. He left with Laurence, not because he agreed with the newly-crowned Vicar's ideas, but because Laurence was the only person he had ever really been honing himself into a weapon for.
Rom was an orphaned scholar from south of the mountainlands who drew attention by being one of the only noncombatant scholars to accompany the prospectors to the deeper layers of the tombs, and she was the one who first Made Contact with lonely Ebrietas. And the left-behind Daughter of the Cosmos adored her. At first regarded as a charming little sister figure by most of the other scholars, resentment towards her began to grow once the realization that she was outpacing her peers became apparent. Rom was aware that she suddenly no longer felt welcome among her classmates, and began spending more and more time with her surrogate mother. The closer she grew to the stars, the more distanced she grew from her peers, the less able and willing to share her findings with them she became. Until one day, she was no longer human at all. The knowledge of how to contact Ebrietas died with her, not to be rediscovered until the Choir found the Isz chalice.
Maria, though technically a relative of the Queen Undying, was so distant as to be for all intents and purposes a member of the servant class. She took up the role of common knight just as her mother, and her mother's mother, and her mother's mother's mother had before her. What was not common was the circumstances behind her knighting; on her own, she slew the great, winged, many-clawed thing that had been her own mother using nothing but the blinding glint off a hand mirror and a sharp-toothed metal comb. Such a prestigious feat was almost enough to overcome the dishonor of a family member losing themself to the sanguine plague, and she received her title when she was barely old enough to lift a sword. In fact, Annalise herself was considering and subtly training Maria for the role of her own personal knight, though Maria left before she could make any such announcement. In Byrgenwerth, she saw the potential for growth instead of stagnation; for the creation of a new future instead of endless nostalgia for an increasingly clouded past. Not trusting the ideals she was taught by an aristocracy that made blood magic into an art, told her that her grief over her mother should instead be shame, and maintained feudal rule for centuries, she essentially outsourced her morality to her fellow scholar-prospectors. This would turn out to be a mistake, though she wouldn't allow herself to realize that until years after the fact. The hamlet, as it was happening, was merely the first crack in the facade to her. But before that, she was Gehrman's apprentice, and brought with her the techniques and traditions of Cainhurst's knights. She was responsible for Yharnam's hunters becoming descendants in spirit of the knights, though few bothered to learn enough about Cainhurst to draw the parallel. Gehrman ended up learning almost as much from her as she did from him.
(Cainhurst's cultural views on gender and sexuality are very different from those of most of the rest of the world, as implied by the knight's sets, Maria's hunter gear being clearly based on the masculine version of the knight's set, and Annalise's whole... everything. Maria probably had to be taught what the cisheteropatriarchy is and how she'd be expected to act by Rom. Her response was likely something along the lines of "That's so stupid and just makes everyone's lives worse, why do people agree to participate in it???" Rom did not have an answer for her.)
Logarius was a descendant of the knights who fought against the faction that would eventually become Cainhurst in the great Pthumerian civil war. Over time, a political conflict had been mythologized into a legendary battle between purity and corruption, not helped by Cainhurst's general isolationism. He initially joined the tomb prospectors in the hopes of learning more about the glorious history of his ancestors, and was quickly accepted into the ranks of the scholar-prospectors alongside Gehrman. Naturally, he was none too pleased when Maria showed up and almost immediately earned her place as Gehrman's star pupil. Maria, who had never been very good at reading the emotions of others, was unaware of his resentment towards her until the founding of the Executioners in their modern form. Ludwig, who arrived in Yharnam once the Church was already in full swing, was a descendant of these same knights, but despite Logarius's efforts to recruit him, he was far more willing to let the past stay in the past and focus on the issues of the present.
Micolash was a relative newcomer. He was the archetypal "former child prodigy gets to college and is surrounded by equals or superiors for the first time in their life and immediately has an identity crisis". The fact that said superiors included women was salt in the wound. (Compared to the rest of its contemporary universities, Byrgenwerth was fairly egalitarian in its admissions, but this was still a time period where women were seen as property. That mindset is difficult to shake, and most didn't see any reason to try.) He was determined to find a breakthrough that would outshine everyone else, and surrounded himself with people who never criticized him. Laurence was actually a bit reluctant to let him come along to the nascent Church, and definitely regretted his decision on more than one occasion. Especially after the School of Mensis for all intents and purposes severed itself from the rest of the Church.
(In a modern AU, Micolash would be selling cryptocurrency and Great One NFTs)
Caryll was a bit of an enigma. They never drew close to anyone, throwing themself headfirst into their work and only contacting anyone else to share their notes and results. No one was ever able to figure out whether they were a man or a woman. Maria was the only person unphased by this. Sadly, Caryll's transcription of runes only began to show truly impressive results once Master Willem's mind had already begun to fail, so he was never able to both see what his student had produced and understand what he was looking at. Caryll eventually died of dehydration after multiple feverish days spent working on a single rune, forgetting to tend to their physical needs. Ironically, the rune carved into the desk where their classmates found their body was Lake.
Yurie the Last Scholar was named as such because she was the last person to ever visit Byrgenwerth for the knowledge contained within before Yharnam, and everything around it, fell into ruin, not to be unearthed for centuries. Her mission was twofold: first, she was to comb through the texts of the university for anything new to the Choir. Second, and perhaps more importantly, she was to destroy any record that could be used to harm the church; most notably, this included attendance records which might be cross-referenced to determine which students had left alongside Laurence. She completed the second mission, but not the first. She lost herself in eldritch knowledge, and eventually forgot why she came to Byrgenwerth in the first place, so immersed was she in the thrill of discovery, of ever-expanding insight. Not that there would have been anything for her to return to. Perhaps what happened to her could be considered a mercy. She never had to know.

Okay about to start attempt number 5 for the Soul Master fight in Hollow Knight. My goal with difficult bosses is always to defeat them in fewer attempts than Martyr Logarius from Bloodbourne took. He took over 30 tries which remains the worst I’ve ever done it so hopefully Soul Master will tap out at like attempt twelve.

Laurence for the character ask game :>
The Ask meme
Favourite thing about them:
The concept of “the road to hell is paved with good signs” folded into one man. Laurence did so much for the Church and for the people, and still ended up in a personalized little hell without the possibility of even finding his true self
Least favorite thing about them:
stupid lava floor during the boss fight
and his fanon image
Favorite line:
"SKREEEEEEEEEEEE" <3
(I don't want to use his cut content or 1.5 of senteces from the game)
brOTP
Laurence x Gehrman probably
Not really BROtp, but I like to imagine that Gehrman has become a second father to him. Although Laurence had enough influence to keep any kind of company, he preferred to spend his time with the old hunter, asking him for advice and complaining about personal problems. In spite of his cunning and dodgy nature, Laurence was like a child with Gehrman - shy and sweet.
(Also he in childhood was a good friend of Ludwig's wife and Adeline. Him and Adeline is something)
OTP
Laurence x Rom as it was! Two scientists with big ambitions. Only he would like to “live happily ever after”, and she would like to continue her experiments in secret and ascend to higher matter.
Also Laurence x Caryll x Rom is so fucking nice. Caryll is just trapped between two horny demons.
nOTP
Doesn't exist probably. All the pairings with him are good, however, for me the only only beloved one is listed above and all the others are just good
Random headcanon
You won't meet a more stylish and fashionable person in Yharnam than Laurence. His collar is always starched, his brooch sparkles off his jacket, his clothes are ironed and washed, and his hair is combed, but not too much so that it looks more lush. And it's not even about his position or money. Probably even if he was a beggar from the street, he'd still make sure to keep up appearances at all costs. So he feels more confident, more pleasant in his own body, and he can throw his leg over his leg during the dialog, because he knows that he looks stunning. Also, when you talk to him, you can be collected and ready for everything, but still find that you unexpectedly agreed to something uncomfortable for yourself or signed without reading the contract to the end. He has mastered the art of words and can probably talk anyone down, charming you with his sly and attentive gaze at the same time.
This trait is hated with all his heart by Micolash and also disliked by Rom, but only she finds her little kink in it. Ludwig, too, can't stand long conversations with his vicar, nor his sweet, softly flowing voice, and Laurence loves to annoy him. Logarius does not understand all these tricks, and Gehrman only smiles affectionately, for he knows there is a good man hidden underneath it all.
And Caryll promises to carry a shotgun (he doesn't know how to wield a gun) with him so that Laurence won’t even try to start a conversation, but it sounds so unconvincing that Laurence uses this to annoy him once again.
Unpopular opinion
I don't want to get into a fandom debate because of the generally accepted interpretation, I can say a lot of unpleasant and subjective things :/
So about the game: his battle is not a reuse of a Cleric beast - it is individual and difficult circumstances suit the vicar the best. I hate this lava floor myself. But that's the point.
It's just that gamerbros are used to throwing shit at everything in soulslikes, and it really tires me to go into the russian fandom, just to read that the game is shit, Miyazaki is a sucker, everything is overused, complete repetition. Don't play :P Leave my games alone. I love the repetitions that occur in Miyazaki's games. You just can't read :P
Song I associate with them:
Maniac by Carpenter Brut feat. Yann Ligner (but it's more about Rom from Laurence's view so I add another one)
Puttin' on the Ritz by Taco (perfect for a headcanon phphp)
Заходи скорее by Oxxxymiron (a banger)
Favorite picture:
(I don't know who the author is)

Alfred was madly in love with Master Logarius, which is why he does the things he does. But he could never confess his love before the massacre because the executioners are homophobic. And he kills himself in the end of his questline because he can't live without his beloved.
Nothing in the lore contradicts this so to me it's canon.

Doing some concept doodles rn... franziska von karma you would LOVE the threaded cane
Anyways au rant under the cut
Okay so basically it's bloodborne but I'm swapping in ace attorney characters and changing a few things around so uh here are hy silly ideas/thoughts and feel free to dm me or reply with more ideas/questions if you wanna yap with me lol
Anyways
Things aren't going to play out 1-1 with the game just because the ace attorney characters and their relations to eachother make that uh kind of difficult. For example, instead of the mentor & apprentice/ father & daughter relationshipof Gehrman and Maria (thats how I interpretit anyways), Pheonix is going to be Mia's apprentice, and he learned everything from her instead of the other way around. That's a relativelylight example but there will likely be more extreme examples. There will be something there that fills a similar role but not the exact.
Anyways, the major character swaps right now are:
Good Hunter (protagonist) -> Maya & Franziska (they're going through Yharnam together bc I want them to lol)
Gehrman -> Pheonix
Plain Doll -> Trucy (also fills messenger role)
Laurence -> Edgeworth
Ludwig -> Blackquil
Lady Maria -> Mia
Father Gascoigne -> Gumshoe
Iosefka & Imposter Iosefka -> Iris & Dahlia
Alfred the Executioner -> Diego
Martyr Logarius -> Manfred
Master Willem -> Misty Fey
Eileen the Crow -> Apollo
Vicar Amelia -> Ema
Simon the Harrowed -> Athena
Micolash -> Kristoph
Saint Adeline -> Lana
Djura -> Klavier
Those are the ones I have thought out but they are also subject to change. I'm undecided on what to do for the Chapel Dweller and the rest of the Oedon squad, the suspicious beggar, Rom, and Valtr for Bloodborne characters (as well as others I mightve forgotten), and I want to try and include Pearl (might swap her w/ trucy for the Doll role, still thinking on that one), Kay, and Sebastian if I can find a place they fit well, as well as some other side characters like Will Powers, Adrian Andrews, etc etc. We'll see what fits where though.
Certain human (or once human/human like) characters will likely remain the same like Queen Yharnam and Queen Annalise because it would be weird to change them, and all the great ones would stay the same as well.
As for weapons & outfits, most NPC's will keep their normal weapons and clothes (with maybe some small tweaks & color changes to match them a little better) with the exception of trucy if she stays as the doll and Maya & Fran, who each will have their own player character builds (who I might go through the game with to test out if I get bored lol).
Franziska: she's going to have the Old Hunter's outfit (with a few minor swaps & the hat switched to the Yharnam Hunter gear). Her weapons are going to be the Threaded Cane (obviously) and hunter pistol at first but she might switch to the Evelyn or another gun later (idk though I never mess with the guns much lol). She might also grab another weapon as her secondary (maybe beasthunter Saif or Rakuyo) but I'm not sure on that yet. If she uses any hunter tools it'll probably only be Old Hunter Bone & Beast Roar. Basically primary dex build with a small risk of beasthood (bc werewolf Fran.... 😳).
Maya's is going to change a little more with her having a strength/arcane build (I feel like it makes sense with the spirit channeling stuff lol). She's gonna start the classic Sawcleaver until she gets Ludwig's Holy Blade later and eventually the Holy Moonlight Sword (might completely skip the holy blade depending on how I decide they progress). She's not really going to have a left hand weapon but instead is going to have a lot of the arcane hunter tools, specifically ones like augur of ebrietas, call beyond, etc (she will get them in like their normal places though). I'm still thinking on her outfit in the beginning but I think eventually she picks up the Choir Set or Executioner Set (leaning towards Choir atm though).
I have a bunch of like other plot things I'm thinking about (why they're in yharnam, great one interference, how the doll happened w/o it being mia, you know).
Anyways this was a lot of yapping that I'm probably just gonna talk about again if I post the doodles so yeah. May the good blood guide your way squad.

I accidentally stumbled upon a post you rbbed about canon characters who beat each other up violently and in fanon they violently make out and your tags about alfred and the cainhurst crow have made something in me stir. this is a brilliant pairing how did I never consider this
Oh, damn really now fshgdfdsg This pairing is actually a controversial classic of this fandom, on the level with Ariadella or Bradmon!! I am glad to give you an Insight point on accident hahaha; I believe it's normally called Crowfred, I tend to opt out for Alfeater! Ships where one or both characters aren't named goddamit..
My style of discussions about ships is to offer some more Insights like some dealer but with autism instead of drugs, so.. Two things:
1) Their age and/or timeline gap is uncertain!
In original Japanese script, Alfred doesn't call himself a "protege" of Master Logarius, which leaves it up to interpretation whether he even met Logarius in person or simply adores him parasocially! Should Bloody Crow come directly from Cainhurst, that'd make him much older than Alfred!
On the other hand, despite Arianna and Bloody Crow (and Fauxsefka, for that matter) existing, Annalise says that you are the only one consanguineously connected with her! It could come from the effect expiring over time if the person doesn't take her blood, which is what I am using. But at the same time, the Vilebloods we know might actually be descendants of the surviving ones! I've had some analysis on Arianna in this ( x ) post, but the gist of it: since actual noble dresses are silver, but hers is burgundy and coincidentally stretches during pregnancy no problem, her mother might have ran away while pregnant with Arianna!
But why Bloody Crow could not be similar, simply a descendant of the Vilebloods that never met Annalise in person and follows the mental image? Both Alfred and Crow could be caught in the unhealthy quest of admiring a person they've never met, continuing the rituals and the ideas of their ancestors they might not fully grasp, and moreover, continuing the old violent ideological conflict they don't even know the actual roots of or the reasons of continuing. They "gotta" kill each other because... why? Who told them they should? What about their own lives, not lives and honour of their 'ancestors'? It adds a lot of drama, and even makes stopping the war that isn't even their with love of all things more romantic!
At the same time, if one of them IS older and smarter, it opens up a whole other potential for the story. Crow could push the "naive fool" away from the crazy quest, or Alfred could convince Crow that sacrifices for "child of blood" is an evil and cursed thing. ....only if either of them calms their murderous unhinged energy for a second. :') And IF they both hail from the 'OG conflict' (time works strange ways in Yharnam), there is the appeal of simply growing tired from the pointless conflict which already destroyed both sides and they can face it together. Bonus controversy points depending on how many of each others side they've killed yet: Alfred straight up identifies as hunter of Vilebloods, whereas Crow is found in Grand Cathedral and strangely wields Healing Church's gun instead of something from Cainhurst (was he looting the victims or something?)
2) There is an alternative way to go about their story!
What if you read Alfred's deep resentment towards Annalise "seducing" people not as some hateful propaganda of the Church he's probably parroting, but as an actual precedent of something that happened? What if Bloody Crow wielding a Healing Church weapon IS his? What if the two used to BOTH be with the Healing Church and look for Annalise together, and one time Bloody Crow managed to reach his goal.. only to be completely charmed by Annalise and betray the Healing Church to join the Vilebloods instead, and he is only acting like crow-feathered Hunter of Hunters to have easier access to murdering people rather than beasts! (Djura pls stop trying to intervene let me finish typing the post ffs hfdjfdshsdfh)
So, Alfred IS pretty mad at his friend having chosen to simp instead, but can't blame Crow himself for it. This idea does need to address why then Annalise says you're 'the only one', as well as how would Crow overcome Logarius being an obstacle? @val-of-the-north says that maybe Bloody Crow instead joined via some other surviving Vileblood outside, so what we have. Parasocial? Telepathy? Communication via bell teleports? In either case, I think this is also an alternative idea worth exploring! Less dramatic, but also less controversial? (though would Alfred be a possessive jealous EX then? who knows..)
I want you to know though: I am actually kinda indifferent towards this ship by 'default', but while typing this reply I was going a little 😳 and thinking this is actually pretty great...? So, I've accidentally made YOU interested in it, and by YOUR interest, you've made ME interested in it- What is going onnnn dshhfdshdsf THIS IS TOO FUNNY HELP
P.S.: It is a no brainer that similar thinking applies to Ariadella in many parts! Adella only murders Arianna if she "dirtied" Hunter's blood for like three times, but in all cases, there is hope to look past fanatical brainwashing / glory and honour of ancestors respectively.. The way I see it, the message Miyazaki put here (and WOULD put here, considering his track record) is more "both sides were corrupt as fuck leeching on Yharnam in their own ways and this war was always pointless" than "church bad vampires good" fdsjhhdfs They all can talk..... this contradiction is so meaningless, ESPECIALLY if you are only continuing the ways of your ancestors before you had a choice to develop your own world-view. god. just talk, guys/girls....
#bloodborne#alfred hunter of vilebloods#bloody crow of cainhurst#bloodborne headcanons#shipping#alfeather#ask replies#(shit I think I might get stabbed by @heraldofcrow tomorrow.... just a silly feeling.. haha that'd be absurd right??)#(uh oh xdddd)

Wc: 1.1k
1 | 2
Ah. It was done. Such joy.. such peace. Alfred had fulfilled his master's wishes, at last! It was done! He'd never felt as overjoyed as he had when travelling back from Cainhurst Castle. Oh, he could rest, at last. Master Logarius could be fully canonised as a true martyr. Oh it was all Alfred could have hoped for.
Though truth be told, he would be most sad to leave you. His life mission was fulfilled, and according to the teachings of his doctrine, there was no reason for him to stay on this plane of existence. And yet..
He wished you could come with him. Alas, the affectionate hug he had given you upon your arrival at Cainhurst- still covered in the guts of Queen Annalise, would have to suffice. He wasn't fully satisfied with this farewell, but this life was one of deserved suffering.
Now he stood, facing the same Altar of Logarius that he had met you. And yet here it was that he had come to die. A small dagger glistened in the moonlight, held loosely in his hand as Alfred prayed for what he assumed was the last time to Logarius, knelt before his deity.
But then it was time. Alfred found himself more afraid of leaving you behind than the sharp, stinging pain of a slit throat. No time to go back though. He'd decided his fate, and brought the dagger to his neck.
A gunshot rang out. The dagger was flung out of his hold, clattering to the floor a few metres away. Alfred gasped a little, whipping his head around to where he thought the bullet had been shot from.
And there stood you. Gun smoking and still aimed at his hands. You were always a good shot.
There was a few moments of silence. Alfred, dumbfounded, staring at you, terrified. Regret filled his veins- did he do that to you? Was he the cause of your grief-stricken gaze? He'd never meant to hurt you.
There was more silence, before Alfred spoke up;
"...Hunter-" "What the hell do you think you're doing!?!" Oh his heart ached, your tone was so, so angry, distraught. How could he possibly hope to explain his final task? He knew you would never understand.
Alfred stood up, slowly, and sighed. "Dear hunter, you must understand-" "Don't try and sweet talk me! Answer the goddamn question!!" He could see the tears in your eyes, it cut him deeper than any knife could. Trying to approach you didn't work either, as one step forward by him was met with you aiming your gun at his head instead. Your hand trembled, Alfred didn't fail to notice. He put his hands up in surrender, and you lowered your weapon, but only slightly.
"Hunter, please, listen, I know you are fond of me- as I am of you! But-" "Fond!? Really!?" "Yes! Yes I am!" Alfred was firm.
"I am fond of you and it pains me to have to leave you in this life, but this is my path, the one I must walk-" "Why!??" "...Why?" Alfred cautiously stepped a little closer to you, and you were too upset to notice.
"Because my mission in this world is fulfilled-" "Fulfilled!?!?!" You brought your gun back to aim at his head. "Yes.." "Fulfilled!?! Completely?!? Does our relationship mean that little to you!?!"
..Oh..
Alfred blushed a tiny bit, and he edged one more step closer.
"Hunter, dear hunter, you're mistaken, as of late you have been my most trusted ally, but my master needs of me in the next life-" "But I need you!!! I need you in this life!!" The tears now ran freely down your face, and you sniffled. "Am I not worth living for!!??" Alfred stared, now mortified with his own actions, his own thought process. How on earth could he be content to take his life when the mere threat of such a thing occurring left you a tear stained, trembling mess.
He wanted to make this wound better for you, he did, but he could not conjur the words to make it so. A feeble, "I'm sorry," was all he could think of. You rolled your eyes, and he stepped ever closer.
"Oh I bet you are, I bet you're so very regretful!!" "I am... for not realising you felt so strongly." You scoffed, "Spare me your pity, I don't need it!" "No, you never did."
Alfred was but a few inches from the barrel of your gun now, and you shook and quivered so much that it was quite easy for him to simply move your hand to the side, allowing him to move in even closer. He could tell you were wanting of his embrace, as was he of yours, but you were a stubborn little thing- and rightfully angry with him. The closer and closer he got, the more you voiced your protests: "No! Get away from me-! I hate you! I hate you!! I never want to see you again- I hate you!!"
Moments later he closed the gap between you, gently pulling you to his chest and wrapping his arms around your smaller frame, a movement that was met with you repeatedly smacking his chest, something that affected him little. You were much smaller than him, afterall, and it wasn't long after that you allowed yourself to collapse, crying into his front and wetting the fabric of his robes with your tears. Your gun fell from your grip to the floor, and Alfred held you tight as you wept. He cautiously brought one of his hands up to pet your hair tenderly, hoping it would comfort you even more. He was quite content to let you sob your feelings away into him.
He was so warm.. soft.. your anger, whilst still there, melted off quite a bit.
You sniffed, murmuring into his chest, "It's not fair, I want you here, I want you to stay." Alfred kissed the top of your head, confirming his own feelings towards you. His voice was quiet now, almost a whisper;
"I know, I know, sweet hunter.. my sweet, lovely hunter, I'm here, I'm staying, I'm here.."
You both stood embraced for a while, content in eachother's arms. You felt so safe enveloped in his hold, and wished you might never have to leave. As though if and when you did, he might dissappear.
"..You won't-?" "No. I've clearly still something to live for.. what an idiot I've been for not realising earlier.." "Yes, very, very stupid." He laughed lightly at your comment, and agreed.
There was no need for a verbal confirmation of your love for one another. Alfred tentatively moved your head up to face his, and boldly, but gently, caught your lips in a kiss. You returned the show of romantic feelings, sighing into his touch, kissing him in the quiet of the night, both of you devoted to expressing how in love you were in one act.
You needed him. And finally, he'd realised that he needed you, too.

Hi ! Sorry for the late ask x) but i was wondering what is your own view on the bloodborne timeline? If you have one. How many years passed for the characters and between huge lore event? I’m curious to know how you see it! >:3
Omg. Finally. I can finally ramble.
To add some context first to things, Laurence and Gehrman are approximately the same age. At least 2-3 months apart with Gehrman being the older one. Micolash, Ludwig, Maria, and Rom are all within the same age and are a year younger than Laurence.
I will try and base everything through Laurence’s lifetime to make things a bit easier
2000-1000 years ago: Pthumerians lose connection to the Great Ones and subsequently get overrun by beasts. Yharnam and Mergo happen here.
Age 18: Laurence enters Byrgenwerth, meets Gehrman as he is his roommate. The next year meeting everyone else. He and Micolash soon become academic rivals.
Age 20: Laurence (accompanied by Gehrman, Ludwig, Maria, and Micolash) discover the holy medium (the Old Blood) and bring it back to Master Willem, who starts obsessing over it and wants to seek ascension.
Age 21: After multiple arguments and discussions with Willem, he decides to leave months before graduation. Ludwig does not follow him but Gehrman and co do.
Age 22: Laurence starts experimenting on the blood using animals with varying degrees of success. He is still cautious and fears the Old Blood so he does not start human trials. He does start clinics near Oedon chapel (to hide up Gehrman, Maria, and other scholars accessing the dungeons below) which makes him start becoming a local figure amongst the impoverished and the sick.
Age 24: Willem and Laurence reconnect contact only to discuss the appearance of Kos in the Fishing Hamlet. Laurence starts talking to Ludwig, who is back in his family’s estate, to join him in the future expedition.
Age 26: the massacre of the Fishing Hamlet. Gehrman loses his leg after protecting Laurence from a villager. He has no choice but to use the Old Blood on him and subsequently sees it’s restorative powers. This furthers Laurence’s goals of bringing ascension to the people of Yharnam through science and medicine. The curse of Kos is created but no one knows. A Cainhurst royal sneaks the medium to Cainhurst castle to be given to Queen Annaliese.
Age 30: Healing Church starts its Golden years. The choir is created and begin to have audience with Ebrietas for a better supply of knowledge and blood. Gehrman continues training a small group of hunters that include Maria and Ludwig. Maria however is starting to feel the guilt of her actions in the Fishing Hamlet. School of Mensis is created at this time too. They start kidnapping people soon after.
Age 31: Maria leaves the hunters and becomes a caretaker for those in the research hall. She meets Adeline here. Rom is secretly turned into a Kin as she stayed in Byrgenwerth as a professor. No one knew until it was too late.
Age 40: Ashen blood appears and the beasts start becoming more prevalent. Laurence orders Gehrman to secretly recruit more hunters in an attempt to keep things in secret. In an attempt to find a cure, Laurence and Ludwig go down the Chalice Dungeons but all they find is the Holy Moonlight Sword
Age 42: Maria dies. Ludwig blames Gehrman for her death and subsequently cuts off all contact with him. Gehrman secretly creates the Doll. Yharnam now knows publicly about the beasts. Ludwig creates the Church Hunters in response and creates his own weapons. The Executioners led by Logarius are given enough funding by the Church to start their plans of a crusade to Ludwig’s secret dismay. He sends his family away from Yharnam as a precaution.
Age 44: Cainhurst Massacre occurs. Logarius makes himself a martyr to hide the secret that Annaliese is immortal. Laurence and Ludwig begin to have arguments but both subsequently choose to ignore it now that Logarius is gone for good.
Age 48: Old Yharnam burns by Laurence’s orders. Powder Kegs leave the hunters entirely to create their own faction. Any hunter who participated in the burning develop a chronic cough due to smoke inhalation and turn to the Old Blood for relief, quickening their transformations into beasts.
Age 56: Hunts are a daily occurrence. Laurence, Gehrman, and Micolash decide to summon Flora to find a way to stop the scourge. They get the Hunter’s Dream in exchange of Gehrman to be held as the host. Laurence promises Gehrman that he will come back for him once he finds a way to cure the scourge. Micolash’s sanity begins to crumble soon after due to having direct audience with a fully ascended Great One and plans the Mensis ritual.
Age 58: Mensis ritual occurs. The blood moon is covered up by Rom but it’s effects are still evident. Ludwig and his hunters struggle to keep up with the beasts and Laurence starts to use the Old Blood more than usual.
Age 60: Laurence transforms into a flaming cleric beast. Ludwig is forced to kill him and subsequently loses his right eye from the flames. Ludwig becomes temporary Leader/Vicar for a few months while Amelia is prepared for her role. During these months his mental state becomes more and more erratic (to the point of hallucinating Laurence and co). The HMS makes him more paranoid due to its whispers about the Hunt. Ludwig is killed off by his hunters around 6 months after Laurence’s death. Half transformed into his horse. Amelia is now Vicar.
20-30 years later. An outsider enters Yharnam looking for blood ministration.

"You're a hunter, aren't you? I knew it. That's precisely how I started out! Oh, beg pardon, you may call me Alfred. Protege of Master Logarius, hunter of Vilebloods. So, what say you? Our prey might differ, but we are hunters, the both of us. Why not cooperate, and discuss the things we've learned?"
Alfred, Hunter of Vilebloods - one of my favorite characters!
All done with ink.

16, 7, 13, 19, 26, 29 and 49 for ask game!
Ask game here
16. Favorite starter class?
Well I literally have 2 hunters so far so I didn't test much. Lucen is lone survivor bc it was the first time I played a soulsborne game I wanted health XD but I think my 2nd hunter is the professional (lot of skills & endurance!) so this one more.
it remind me sometimes I like imagining from which "class" characters & npc are from. Even if well they probably gain points for sure but I can easily imagine a couple of characters being a mixt of some.
7.Blood Beast or Milkweed?
Hm... beats I think? I didn't played much with those but yeah beast bc it's either to obtain and beast claw is actually very cool with it XD
13.What's the most fashionable coat in the game?
Well I wanted to say the main hunter coat (without the cape) that I wear all the time but Maria's coat is kinda peak too. (I forgot to mention yesterday as well but crow garb and freaking cainhurst's armors are amazing I love the armors so so much!!!)
19.Favorite Old Hunter?
Now that I think about it I think this question is more about npc who help in battle than lore characters. So if Gehrman, Maria, Ludwig etc don't count Valtr because he saved my ass do many times 😂
26.What's your favorite covenant rune to equip for solo play?
Either the hunter of hunter's one (more stamina) or even more, the executioners' one (because it restored more health)
29.Least favorite weapon?
Hm 🤔 I don't use many weapons or use the other like 5mins jrfcznklr so least favorite?
I love the chikage but draining health is meh. Not a fan of the poor reiterpallasch moveset. I found the stake driver hard to master too
Well I love Kos parasite in lore (so many horrible headcanons) but you legit need to equip the rune too. And you need high arcane but it is cool too
So hm Logarius wheel maybe? XD It's a huge thing you move around I prefer quicker weapons. (Logarius I know why you did that with the symbolism and all but wtf you thought it was a good idea?!)
49.What's your favorite thing about Bloodborne?
Oh well. Almost everything?!
I just... I love it. (I can't choose shit don't ask me guys for my fav thing XD)
Gameplay is amazing, fast and fluid, interconnected area is so nice, despise so little weapons variety & outfit you can still have unique built. Bosses are hard at first but it's nothing compared to dark souls hell sorry 💀 The victorian-gothic more modern aesthetic, Lovecraft inspirations but also werewolf and monster hunt. The ennemies, the techniques to have etcThe ambiance the cryptic shit, the characters, the dialogues, the MUSIC, the goddamn puzzle lore it took over my brain since 2 years it's over now
(My least fav thing might be farm to buy health materials & bullet lol but well it's a gameplay choice)
This game is so unique and incredible in so many point. It's a master piece/
