The most annoying part of Sekiro fandom discourse is that like 40% of it consists of "Genichiro could've saved Ashina if he just-" No. He couldn't have. That's the point. That's the entire theme of the game. Ashina was always going to fall, and Genichiro's fatal flaw is that he's incapable of accepting that. He's not an idiot because he failed to retain control of Ashina, he's an idiot because his desperate obsession with retaining control of Ashina has blinded him to the fact that he's actively rendering the country uninhabitable. He's willing to subject commoners to fucked up experiments to create red eyed monsters as last ditch defenders. He wants the Dragons Heritage even though he knows what kind of damage the Dragon Rot will do. He literally set a fucking bulls horns on fire just to buy his armies a little bit of time when the Ministry invaded. Genichiro was always doomed. He just refused to see it.

Thinking about Genichiro's end.
Thinking about how this is the first time Kuro tells Wolf to outright kill someone. Even if he doesn't use the exact words, the implication is clear in his dialogue.
Sure, this is Wolf's job. He's killed a number of people to rescue Kuro by this point. But this is still a profound moment.
This is the first time Kuro tells him to actually get rid of one guy specifically.
Kuro is still a child.
Kuro has also been nothing but friendly and forgiving. He has even shown sympathy for Geniricho's motivations, even admiration for his strength.
He knows what a shinobi does. He knows Wolf has killed people. He has also been insistent about treating Wolf as more than a servant. Wolf is a person to Kuro, not a tool, and he makes a point of not asking anything of him lightly and freely shows his greatfulness for everything Wolf does for him.
I'm also thinking about how far gone Genichiro is for this child to decide that he needs to die.
BUT
Most, of all, I'm thinking about
