it was not technically midnight , but it felt odd to be breaking out the booze when there was still a small little girl running around the living room. the solution was simple ━━ search for a new year's count down to put up on the TV & then celebrate with maddy a bit before sending her off to bed. not only will they have the rest of the night to enjoy some drinking & fun , but maddy goes to bed thinking she stayed up late. it's a fool proof plan. party hats & noise makers are passed around between them , greg & eddie laughing as they watch maddy run around in excitement for the new year. mason & sebastian don matching party hats so maddy feels like a little trendsetter , lifting her up in their arms as they play the youtube countdown video for her to see. everyone begins to countdown , encouraging maddy to join so that she may show off her ability to count down from sixty backwards. she's such a smart girl . . . in fact , she's kind of the reason why he & sebastian started the adoption process a while ago. maddy felt like she made greg & eddie's lives complete , & he & sebastian long to feel the same.
the countdown ends & everyone in the room erupts in cheers & hugs. mason lets his adopted niece share a moment with her dads & sets her down , kissing his husband innocently before the young girl quickly returns to offer her new years greetings too. mason gets down to her level & opens his arms to invite her into a hug , pressing kisses to either sides of her cheeks. ❝ happy new year , cutie pie , ❞ he says softly in a sing song like manner. ❝ you stayed up until midnight ! wow , you must feel big now , huh ? but now we gotta take you to bed. don't forget the deal you made with your dad , okay ? ❞ he grins , winking cheekily as his voice drops to a whisper. ❝ i'll read you a bedtime story if you go get ready without a fuss. ❞

“What’s wrong, Y/n?” Jaz asked while the two of you were having afternoon coffee in a bakery in Manchester. “You've been quiet since we got here.”
“I'm all worked up, don't worry, it's nothing” your smile didn't reach your eyes and Jaz noticed, and even though you've only known each other for a short time, anyone would realize that there was something bothering you.
You and Mason had been officially dating for a little over two months, but you had met his family before that and you loved them all, it was really great spending the holidays with them in Greece.
“You can tell me, you know, don't you?” she held out her hand and you lightly squeezed her hand across the table, smiling once more and nodding. “Is it something with Mason?”
“Jaz, don’t worry, I’m fine” she rolled her eyes and you smiled, trying to push the thought that had been haunting you for a few weeks to the back of your mind, but it was inevitable.
“Okay, so let's go, I'm already missing my girls” she murmured and you smiled, remembering the photo Mason sent you minutes ago where Summer was putting makeup on him and Mila was trying to put bows in his hair. “Should we take a pie?”
“Please, lemon pie is the best ever” you almost groaned when you saw a lemon pie on the counter, so Jaz went over and asked to wrap it up. “Debbie wants us to stop by the grocery store to pick up something for dinner?”
“She texted me to say she was making lasagna. I've come to Manchester and I need to spend the day at the gym because all I do is eat.”
“She likes to spoil Mason.”
“This is ridiculous, she never makes food like this for me, only for her big baby” you couldn't help but laugh, because they were clearly jealous of the way Debbie treats Mason, and Mason loves being spoiled by them, even though the family is now full of children and he is a grown man.
“He takes advantage because he knows she does everything for him.”
“That little devil, was the same thing when he was a child.”
You and Jaz got along really well, the girls adored you too, and you were in love with Mason's nieces and nephew, but it was sad because Stacey lived far away.
You love Mason and his family so much that it hurts, especially because your family lives far away and you miss being welcomed by them, and you found comfort in your boyfriend. However, Mason never said he loved you.
Of course, everyone has their own time and maybe he isn't ready to take that step in such a new relationship, but you listen and notice how easily he says “I love you” to his family. You just wish he would tell you he loves you too.
“Hey, had fun with Jaz?” Mason asked when you arrived at his house, he hugged you and left a kiss on your lips. “I missed you, babe. My family is stealing you from me.”
“They just think I’m cooler than you” you murmured and Mason laughed. Summer ran to you and you walked away from Mason, walking behind her to the coffee table where she was coloring pictures.
“Do you want to color with me? Uncle Masey didn't want to, he said he was tired.”
“Tired, uh?” you asked and looked at Mason who just shrugged and laid down on the couch, because he hadn't done anything all day. “Summer, I'm going to take a shower and then I'll color with you, okay?”
You walked upstairs to take a shower in Mason's bedroom bathroom, and luckily you had some clothes at his place or you would have had to go to your apartment to get them. Mason walked into the room just as you entered the bathroom, you smiled as he followed you into the bathroom and sat on the edge of the tub, the same way you two do when you're talking in the bathroom.
“I just need some silence, I'll watch you take a shower” you rolled your eyes as you took off your clothes, ignoring Mason's gaze all over your body.
“Hey, the doctor texted me, I think I'm going to need to go to the hospital for a checkup tomorrow” you said, remembering the message the doctor sent you this morning. You were hospitalized for days a month ago because of severe headaches, and now you are being monitored by two doctors to see if everything is okay.
“But are you feeling any pain?” Mason asked worriedly and you quickly shook your head, watching him sigh in relief.
“They want to do new exams, I'm fine. You have training tomorrow, don't you?”
“Yes, but I'll go with you to do the exams and then I'll go to Carrington.”
“No need, Mason, I can go alone.”
“Okay, but call me and text me” you smiled at him, and Mason actually looked worried about you.
Again you thought he hadn't said I love you” to you yet, and you looked down as you washed your hair and Mason hummed a song under his breath.
“Hey, I bought you something” Mason spoke and left the bathroom. He left the bathroom door open and you could see him walking past the bedroom with a gift box which he placed on the bed before heading back to the bathroom. “I think you'll like it.”
“What is it?”
“You will open it and see, be patient.”
Mason continued talking to you for ten minutes until you finished your shower, and he stayed there until you put on another set of clothes and organized the bathroom.
“Do you want me to dry your hair?” he asked and you looked at him through the reflection of the mirror, Mason was behind you and you smiled feeling love all over your chest. Mason stood up when you nodded, and he looked for the hairdryer he uses when he is really late.
You wanted to cry as you watched Mason drying your hair calmly, focused and sometimes smiling at you. Maybe he doesn't love you, but he definitely likes you, because no man would ever do that, right?
You looked at the floor, feeling your eyes fill with tears and blinked a few times to keep from crying. Mason noticed and turned off the dryer, turning you to face him.
“What’s wrong, babe? You've been quiet for a few days” you didn't want to tell him the real reason you were crying because you were ashamed of doubting his feelings.
“I’m a little bit worried” you said referring to the exam you will take tomorrow, and Mason hugged you and kissed your forehead.
“Nothing will happen, you’re fine and healthy and we will spend our lives together.”
“Really? Do you want to spend your life by my side?”
“Of course, why wouldn’t I want to?” you shrugged and smiled, but it still wasn't the answer you needed. “C’mere, let's open your present and put a smile on that face.”
You wiped away some tears and smiled at Mason as he pulled you over to the bed where he had placed the gift. It was a pink package with hearts drawn on it and you felt bad about tearing it, but you still pulled the package open to see what was inside.
“It's heavy, it must have been expensive” you muttered and Mason rolled his eyes.
“You can't guess the price because of the weight” he said and laughed. “Open, open.”
You swear you had stopped crying, but you started crying again as soon as you saw the gift Mason bought for you. Big tears fell as you held the box and cried. Mason stood up worriedly, hugging you.
“What’s wrong? You didn't like it?” You hugged him tightly, crying into his chest and letting your emotions take over.
“It's the most beautiful gift I've ever received.”
You held the box to look at the book nook of a village in Greece, the same one you visited when you were there on vacation. Every detail caught your attention and you couldn't speak as you sobbed, hugging Mason once more.
“Did you like it? I thought of you when I saw it, and you can put it on your bookshelf.”
“I loved it. Thank you, Mase.”
“Stop crying, okay? I just want to see you happy.”
“They are tears of happiness.”
“I'd rather see a smile on your lips.”

“Y/n, we're going to keep you under observation tonight, okay? Your exams are altered and we need to do new exams to check if everything is okay” Doctor Reid said as he entered the room, and you sighed sitting in the hospital hallway, because it would be another long night alone in that scary place.
“But am I okay?” your heart was racing and deep down you were scared. Since you were hospitalized for the first time this has been consuming you.
“No need to worry, we just need to be sure of the result to know which medicine you can take.”
“Okay” you murmured a little in relief, and a nurse arrived and took you to the room where you would spend the night. You hated the hospital, especially being alone there for a whole night with a needle in your arm.
You sent Mason a message saying that everything was fine but he didn't reply to you, so you just talked to the nurses who were giving you medicine and making the bed where you would stay.
Half an hour later Mason appeared in the hospital room with your pink bag that he probably filled with things and a black one.
“Hey, no need for all this, it's just one night” you said seeing how many things he brought, so Mason left everything on the armchair and walked towards you.
“I'm worried, are you sure you're okay, love?” he asked and left a kiss on your forehead, then another on your lips. “One bag is mine.”
“Why? You don't have to stay here, you can stay with your family.”
“Only in your dreams will I leave you alone in the hospital, Y/N.”
“No, seriously, Doctor Reid said it's just for some tests, you can't leave your family alone there, they came to see you.”
“Hey, I'm going to stay here and I already told the coach that I'll be late tomorrow.”
You huffed, because there was nothing you could say to make Mason change his mind.
He just lay down next to you on the hospital bed, and kept you company for hours until he went to the hospital cafeteria to get something for you both to eat. He came back and stayed by your side the whole time, and when you fell asleep, Mason held you close to him and kissed your hair, snuggling into you and sleeping too, because where you are is where he feels good.
“Thank you for spending the night with me at the hospital” you said as soon as Mason dropped you off at your apartment, and he was already late for practice but didn't seem to care.
Luckily, the doctor said everything was fine and there was no reason to worry anymore, he just prescribed you some medicine to take when you have other headaches.
“You know I would stay by your side in the hospital for a month if necessary” he mumbled and you smiled, hugging him one last time before he ran off because he was late.
“I love you” you yelled, and Mason just blew you a kiss before closing the door.
✦۟ ࣭ ⊹
Mason has been traveling with the team and you are increasingly drowning in the thoughts that he doesn't love you. You cried a few times alone at home, watching a romantic movie or seeing someone post love quotes on the internet.
You're at rock bottom.
You were so lost in your own thoughts crying while watching The Longest Ride that you didn't notice Mason entering your apartment.
“Y/n? What’s wrong?” he asked and you got scared, trying to wipe away your tears so he wouldn't see, but it was too late.
“I'm just crying because of the movie” you pointed at the screen right at the moment Luke is picking up Sophia for a date, and there was no reason to cry.
“Hey, I know you, there's been something bothering you for days and you still haven't told me what it is. I'm getting worried and so is my mum, she said you've been quiet.”
Mason pulled you from the couch and you let more tears fall, you stood in front of him and looked him in the eyes.
“I don't want to look like a fool.”
“You know I’d never think that of you, love” he tucked your hair behind your ear.
“It's just that…” you stopped, unable to speak, but Mason encouraged you. “Do you love me?”
“What?” he asked, breathing a sigh of relief and laughing, but you cried when he didn't answer.
“You never said you loved me, and it's okay if you don't feel anything-” Mason put his hand over your mouth when you sobbed, and he stopped you from continuing to speak.
“Oh my God, I can't believe you're crying over this, baby” Mason held back his laughter. “Do you think I don't love you?”
You shrugged and looked at him with sad eyes.
“I said I love you several times” he murmured.
“No, you never said, actually.”
“I said yeah. I showed it. I showed you I love you when I introduced you to my whole family. I showed you I love you when I introduced you to my friends. I showed you I love you when I took you on a trip with my family because I know they would love you as much as I do.”
His heart was racing, and Mason continued speaking.
“I show you that I love you every day. I show you that I love you when I buy you books, when I take you out to dinner. I love you so much that I bought you a book nook from Greece for you to put among your books because it was our first trip together.”
“I showed you that I love you when I stayed by your side in the hospital for an entire night, and don't get me wrong, it wasn't to get something in return, I did it because I love you and I wouldn't leave you alone.”
“I- I” you sobbed as Mason hugged you. Now you look like a fool, because you were so focused on the words that you didn't pay attention to everything Mason does for you every day. “I’m sorry.”
“If you need to hear it, I'll say it. I love you. I love you so much Y/n that it hurts. I love you so much that I would spend a week eating your failed recipes just to make you happy. I would listen to Taylor Swift for the rest of my life just to show you that I love you. I love you.”
You were laughing and crying, and Mason was smiling too as he pulled you to sit next to him on the couch.
“I can tell you that I love you every day if you want, but I prefer to show you.”
“I'm such an idiot, my God. It's just that you say that you love your family all the time and you've never said it to me even the times I've said it.”
“Because they have the habit of saying I love you and that's why I do it, but I say I love you when I'm stuck to you all the time and don't want to let go.”
“I feel like a fool.”
“No, love, you know you don't.”
“I love you.”
“I love you. Sorry I didn't realize you wanted to hear it.”
“No, I want you to show me.”
“Ah, you don't even know what you want” he said and kissed you.
“I know exactly what I want. You. For the rest of my life.”

Feels like Summer

Words: 3k
Summary: what started out as a holiday fic turned into girlie getting broody
Notes: please leave feedback, it really means the world and is such a motivator 🩷
•••
You'd never felt more relaxed in your life, the sun beating down on your skin as you laid on the lounger beside the pool, the heat making you sleepy, despite the chaos taking place only a few feet away from you.
A stark contrast from your pure state of bliss, Mason could only describe the fun being had in the pool as absolute bedlam. There were excitable screams from children in all directions, a niece (though he wasn't sure which one) was clinging to his back as she squealed, before her grip loosened and a little pink swimming costume clad body dove onto the unicorn float beside him. Poppy's little face spun to meet him, a huge grin on her face as he playfully grabbed hold of the float she was now sat upon, dragging it through the water behind him as his heart soared at her gleeful screams.
Don't get him wrong, he loved playing football, but the extended period of time he got to spend with his family under the sun during his summer break was his definition of perfection. Nothing could beat the feeling of spending his days being the fun uncle, acting like a big kid with his nieces and nephew, competing with his brother to be their favourite. He was in his element, splashing around the pool and playing games until they were all exhausted, heading inside for a snack and a nap. And in Mason's case, a cuddle and some loving with you. Sometimes you'd get involved in the chaos, his nieces adored you and would beg and beg until you'd jump in with them, sometimes telling Mason it was "girls time" and he wasn't allowed to join in. But for the most part you stayed in the dry, letting Mason and Lewis act as kids entertainers and tire themselves out trying to compete with each other.
You watched from your place beside the pool, eyes covered by sunglasses, exchanging words with Debbie every now and then as she sat on the sun lounger beside you.
You're not sure why you chose to blurt it out so abruptly, but you couldn't help yourself, heart soaring as you watched him interacting with his niece, "he's going to be the best dad."
Debbie took a sharp intake of breath, whipping her head round to look at you and peering over the top of her sunglasses, "are you...?"
Her words drifted off as you quickly stopped her,
"oh no, no, no," you hurried out, not missing the disappointment that washed over her face, "I just can't help but get broody when I see him with kids."
You and Debbie had always been close, she had treated you like her own from the minute you had met and over the years you had formed a close bond. There was something about the way her kind eyes bored into you that always had you opening up to her, something that her son had inherited too.
"He's in his element when he's with them, isn't he?" She smiled softly, her heart clenching as she watched you watching him, overcome with gratitude that her baby had found someone who loved him as much as you did. "He's always been good with kids, even when he was young all the littlens seemed to be drawn to him."
You nodded, taking a sip of your drink before turning to face her, breaking your eyes away from Mason as he began tossing Summer up in the air, "He keeps dropping hints about having a baby. I caught him looking at baby United kits on his phone the other day so I know he's ready."
"So what's stopping you?"
"I dunno, I guess with the move up North and having to re-jig my whole life, I felt quite unsettled for a while and there was no way a baby in the equation would have been practical," you shrugged, unable to avert your gaze from him, not wanting to a miss a second of the sweet display.
Debbie hummed in agreement, sensing you still had more to say.
Sighing, you carried on, "part of me is selfishly happy he didn't play much this season, as bad as it sounds," you were embarrassed to admit it, feeling guilty about the way you felt, but it was the truth, "It meant I had him around a bit more when I was feeling down. Don't get me wrong I'd move anywhere with him if he needed me to, but I don't think I fully comprehended how big of a change it would be for me. I've only just started making friends that aren't other partners of the players, wnd even with them it took me an age before I didnt feel like the new girl."
"Oh sweetheart," she reached across the beds to take hold of your hand, squeezing it in hers, "you know you could have always called, I would have been there in a heartbeat to come and keep you company."
"Mase did keep saying in the beginning that you would be happy to come up and stay for a bit, but I just didn't want to be an inconvenience you know" you paused, taking comfort from her warm hand in yours as you finally opened up about a years worth of turmoil, "he was the one who was getting hammered publically, he was the one who had to start off again at a whole new club. I just wanted him to worry about himself for once, not me."
"He always worries about you, he called me a lot in the first few months as he had a feeling you weren't settled but you were refusing to admit it," Debbie's voice was soft, motherly in a way that made you feel comfortable enough to divulge all your inner thoughts and fears.
"Bless him," you smiled as you turned back to look at him, now teaching the girls how to do star floats on their backs, "I remember one time l'd had a really bad day, a group of the girls who l'd been getting friendly with had met up without me and I was so sensitive, cried about it when I saw them all together on instagram," you laughed, "and he was so sweet, kept asking if I wanted to move back home and he would see if he could commute from London because he could tell I was unhappy."
Debbie laughed, shaking her head with a smile as it was something he had also mentioned to her in one of his panics. She had shut him down instantly, telling him to not be so dramatic and it was just a big adjustment.
"I think he was worried I would break up with him," you spoke softly, admitting something that you hadn't actually vocalised before.
Remembering the way he was on egg shells with you for weeks, doing everything he could to try and make you feel like Manchester was home.
Debbie didn't respond, just gave your hand another squeeze in acknowledgment. She knew it was something he had agonised over, sometimes breaking down into tears as he poured his heart out to his mum over the phone, worried he was making you unhappy by forcing you to leave your life behind for him. Debbie had reassured him repeatedly it wouldn't happen, and she had been right. It was just a bump in the road, and with his recurring injuries and subsequent time off the tearful calls had become less frequent, the extra time you had been allowed to spend together helping you settle into a new normal.
By the time he had gone back to training full time, you'd found your rhythm, making friends through Anouska who had kindly taken you under her wing and introduced you to all the best coffee places and parks to walk Ace in, the puppy Mason had bought to make you feel safer and less lonely when he was away. It had taken time, but you finally saw Manchester as home, loving the city more than you thought you would.
You settled into a comfortable silence for a while before Debbie spoke up again, still holding your hand in hers, "You know when you two were house hunting after moving up there he asked Lewis to find options that were listed as family homes," she smirked, eyebrows raised suggestively as you turned to look at her.
"I knew you'd want to go back to the grandkids topic," you giggled, shaking your head at her lack of subtlety, another trait Mason had taken from her.
"Can you blame me? I'll never say no to more babies in the family," her smile was infectious, making you return her grin.
"We did discuss a bit when we were house hunting. I didn't want to buy something so big to be honest, purely because the amount of cleaning it would need," you groaned, being reminded that you worry had come to fruition, "but he made a good point and said it's going to be the house we have kids in, so may as well buy one that's ready for that step."
"And are you ready for that step?"
"Yeah," you nodded, feeling sure of yourself, "he's been ready for the past few years, it's been me that's always had my foot on the break. But for the last few months the feeling just hasn't gone away, I keep going over to Anouska's just to get my baby fix with Lumie," you laughed, "and every time Stacey hands Honey over for a cuddle I struggle to give her back."
"You better hurry up and tell Mason then," she teased.
"Tell me what?" You both turned to see the man of the hour pulling himself up out of the pool having caught onto the last few words of your conversation.
Releasing her grip on your hand, Debbie shuffled up from her seat, "I'll leave you two to talk."
Watching her go, you would help but roll your eyes affectionately at the little spring in her step as she rushed over to the other side of the pool where Tony was sitting with a beer, clearly excited to fill him in on the prospect that they may soon be getting another grandchild.
Mason was watching you, taking the opportunity to drink in your bikini clad body while you were focused elsewhere, admiring the curves of your body and the glow from the sun on your skin.
"Go on then," he broke the silence, "what have you got to tell me?" His head cocked in question.
"Come here?" You asked, opening your arms to invite him to lay with you, figuring there was no time like the present and if you didn't tell him he would spend the day pestering you until you inevitability broke down to pressure.
"I've just got out of the pool," he warned, glancing down to his wet torso when he noticed you were transfixed on his body, a slight pink dusting over your already flushed cheeks.
"Don't care, want a cuddle," you murmured, smiling as he carefully plopped on top of you, head resting on your chest as his left hand trailed up and down the side of your body. His wet body cooled you instantly from the layer of heat the sun had given you, goosebumps covering your skin from the combined sensations of the cold and his gentle touch.
You sat in silence for a while, gathering your thoughts while enjoying the feeling of having each other close, the last time you had an opportunity to spend time with him had been in bed that morning. You had awoken to day light flooding into the room having forgotten to close them the night before in your desperation to get each other into bed. Your neediness hadn't passed, knowing you had to make the most of your time together before spending the day surrounded by his family. He had fucked into you slowly from behind, whispering how much he loved you into your ear until you were both spent, followed by another quick fumble in the shower before getting ready to meet the others for breakfast.
The kids had stolen him after that, so you made sure to enjoy the moments you had with him during the day, even if they were few and far between sometimes.
“So, you gonna tell me what mum was talking about?” He broke the silence after a while, fingers tracing over your stomach and you couldn't help but smile at the irony.
"I want a baby.”
His head shot up from your chest instantly, wild eyes searching your expression, "Are you serious!?"
"Yeah,” you nodded slowly, “I've been thinking about it for a while, every time I see you with kids I feel like I’m going to explode. But that's only if you're ready too.”
He laughed, the grin on his face probably the biggest you'd ever seen, happiness radiating through his brown eyes, “You know I've always been ready to have kids with you.”
“I know,” you face was apologetic, reaching out to cup his cheek and trace a gentle path across his flushed cheek, “and i'm sorry for making you wait so long, I just felt like bringing a baby into the world when I was feeling a bit all over the place wasn't the best idea.”
“No I get that, it wasn't the right time last year,” he agreed solomley, though a smile was threatening to burst through, “I know we spoke about kids and how we wanted them soon when we moved into the house but I was always happy to wait until you were ready too.”
“I felt ready all along in terms of our relationship, like if it happened accidentally last year I never would've had doubts or felt rushed. I just didn't feel ready to start actively trying you know? Felt like we had a lot going on and the pressure would've got to me I think."
"We don't have to put any pressure on it, even if it takes time," he reassured, "the baby making is the fun bit anyway." His cheeky grin made you giggle, loving the way he always knew exactly what to say to relax you and make you laugh. "And if you have second thoughts and want to wait for a bit before we remove contraception that's fine. We can do everything at your pace.”
You shook your head softly, he was so unbelievably caring you felt your stomach clench with love, "no I don't need anymore time to think," eyes flitting away from him to admire a bird circling the sky above you,
"It's something i've been thinking about for months now. I thought I’d wait and see, to see if the feeling went away once summer started and you were home all the time and I wasn't so lonely. But if anything it has got worse, I've never been so broody in my life.”
"Yeah?" His voice was soft, his eyes a little bit watery as he struggled to contain the love he felt for you in that moment.
"Yeah," you confirmed, mirroring his expression.
He rested his head back on your chest, trying to steady his breathing as his heart hammered in his chest. You were finally saying everything he had been waiting to hear for the past year, excitement pulsing through his entire body at the prospect of getting to become a parent with you.
"I want two, maybe 3 kids I think,” you murmured.
"Oh at least 3 for sure, the more you let me have the better," he grinned teasingly, his chin resting on the valley between your chest so he could look up at you adoringly.
"You're gonna be the best daddy in the world," you hummed, stroking the back of his head through his wet locks.
"And you’ll be the best mum,” he whispered, pressing a series of kisses to your chest, trailing his lips up until he reached your neck, “wanna go practice making a baby?"
"Mason, I just spoke to your mum about wanting a child, I'm not disappearing off with you, she will know exactly what we're doing," you groaned, gently grasping his face and pushing him out from the crook of your neck in an attempt to stop him getting carried away.
Mason barked out a laugh, "Babe, mum knows if she wants another grandchild we're gonna have to be having lots of sex, probably even more than usual," he wiggled his eyebrows at you suggestively, trying to charm you into letting him have his way with you but you were holding firm.
"Yeah, but that doesn't mean hiding away to have a shag while on a family holiday, when all your nieces and nephews are here as well."
"You let me fuck you last night," he grumbled, "and this morning."
"Yes, while everyone was in bed Mason," you chastised.
"Baby they aren't stupid, they know we don't go in our room at night and play scrabble til we fall asleep," his voice was teasing, letting you know he was only playing around with you.
"That's beside the point, Mase. If we disappear now you may as well stand up and make an announcement across the villa we're going for a quick fuck."
"I mean I wouldn't be opposed to doing that," he shrugged, playfully biting at the palm of your hand that was still cupped around his face, "at least we wouldn't be disturbed."
"You're an idiot," you couldn't help but laugh at him, flicking him on the shoulder in jest.
"But you love me and you wanna make loads of babies with me," his smirk was full of teasing, dipping his head to bite gently down on the swell of your breast knowing it would wind you up further.
"Mason, do you remember you said I could decide otherwise at any point?" You asked pointedly.
He nodded, his smile not dropping.
"Don't test me," you countered.
With another sharp laugh, he pulled you in for a kiss, cupping your face in his large hand, his lips sweet and soft against yours before pulling away, "fine, I'll wait until tonight then."

Christmas Day
(The last one!! Thank you to everyone who has read all of the concepts over the last 12 days and everyone who has sent any in. So much love to you all 🫶🏻)
———————
Just thinking about Christmas Day with Mason and all of the different ways you could spend it together…
So we know he usually spends Christmas Day with his family, so imagine being a part of that. Maybe you and Mason don’t actually live together yet but he invites you over to sleep at his and wake up with them all on Christmas morning. He understands that you’d still need to see your family so maybe you and Mason would see them on Christmas Eve before driving back to his together.
All of his family would be staying so Christmas morning would be chaotic, but in the best way possible. You’d all sit together in the living area, with Mason sitting right next to you, pulling you into his side and you’d snuggle into him, tugging on a blanket that rests over the back of the sofa so it falls over your laps. You’d all take turns opening presents, watching his two nieces as they tear through the paper, joy lighting up their faces every time they find a toy or something they’d asked Santa for.
You’d love getting to spend Christmas with him and his family, and would always be grateful for how welcoming they are towards you, always making you feel like part of their family, but you’d also love the little moment that you and Mason get together.
Maybe you’d make the effort to wake up a little earlier than everyone else, taking the opportunity to cuddle and be together in bed for a while before all the craziness starts. It would be hard to stay awake, his warmth and the feeling of his fingertips tracing patterns over your skin the perfect recipe to fall back asleep, but he makes sure to wake you up if you do drift back off. Maybe you’d even exchange a few presents with each other before going to find everyone else, some of them a little more meaningful or just ones you don’t want to open in front of the rest of his family, like Mason would always buy you some new lingerie and would obviously want you to open that when it’s just the two of you.
Maybe there’d even be a bit of lazy morning sex. You’ve always been a bit funny about having sex with him whilst his family are in the house because what if they hear or walk in on you, but the door is locked anyway and the minuet he gives you those eyes you know you’re going to give into him. It would be the soft, lazy kind, a little bit of foreplay leading up to him thrusting into you slowly, under the covers with both of you still wearing your PJ tops because you were so desperate for eachother that you never got around to taking them off. There’d be loads of kidding to keep eachother quiet and you’ve have to have a quick shower to clean up and make yourselves look more presentable, and less like you’ve just had sex before going downstairs to be with the rest of his family.
Now thinking about spending Christmas Day together when you’ve got your own children…
I spoke about how Christmas Eve would go as a family of four in the last concept, so leading on from that they’d both come bounding into your bedroom as soon as they’re awake, waking you and Mason up to tell you that Santas been. They’re both so excited and you know you can’t make them wait any longer so you’d follow them downstairs to begin opening the presents.
Maybe you’d let them open all of their presents from ‘Santa’ first and then you’d take a little break, not wanting all of the excitement to be over so soon. You’d make some breakfast, with Mason putting in the effort to make it an extra special one, even attempting to make some snow man shaped pancakes before going out on a family walk. Maybe one of their presents were new bikes or scooters so you and Mason follow behind them whilst they ride them.
When you get home again you let them open the rest of your gifts, all of them would be from you and Mason though, signed ‘from Mummy and Daddy’ and it would warm your heart because every time they open one they’d come running over to thank you and give you each a hug. Then you and Mason would get to open your gifts from each other, the little ones just as interested in what you’ve each opened.
It would be the best morning ever and once all of the wrapping paper is tidied away you’d start getting ready to go and spend the rest of the day with family.
And I’m sure there’d be some christmases where you and Mason wake up with just the two of at home.
Maybe you’re hosting the rest of his family in the afternoon for Christmas dinner but it’s your first year living together so you wanted to experience waking up and spending Christmas morning just the two of you in your new home.
You’d wake up with absolutely no rush to get out of bed, having the laziest of lazy mornings before giving each other your gifts and having breakfast in bed before it gets so late that you have to get up and start getting ready.
The two of you trying to make Christmas dinner together would be interesting. Maybe you’d offered to cook it this year since you’ll be hosting anyway and some of it goes really well, but some of it not so much. It would take up the majority of the day, each of you taking control of certain dishes to make the process a little quicker but you still end up needing the help of his mum and sister when they arrive in the early afternoon, wanting their help with things like the turkey because you’re too worried about somehow messing it up and ruining the whole meal. Mason would also be feeling extra touchy and would be all over you the whole time, not necessarily making it easy for you to focus on the cooking when his hands are roaming everywhere.
Christmas with him would just be the best, whether you’re spending it just the two of you or with the whole family, and I know that he’d spoil you rotten, buying you loads of gifts even if you told him not to but you’d love everything he gets for you. He knows you so well and can tell when you want something even if you don’t actually say it. Like a lot of your gifts would be things he’s seen saved in your favourites or wish lists, or things he knows you want but would never buy yourself. And you’d spoil him to, wanting him to have just as much to open even if he is quite hard to buy for.

Day 12 Concept night tomorrow. I’ll be working so I’ll be scheduling them all to post 10 minuets apart 🫶🏻 please send them in asap if you have any 😚

Mason Mount x Reader Angst / Fluff Word Count: 6.1K
Important: The article used in this is fake! It was only created for this fic and has nothing to do with reality! Please keep that in mind at all times!
I won’t lie, I’m very unhappy with myself. This was one of the most exciting requests I’ve ever received, and I was hit by a bloody writers block, which is why I ended up writing the what feels like worst fic ever. My apologies if this is utter crap.
I hope you still somehow like it! Enjoy <3 And as always, feedback is very much appreciated.

“Hi, I’m Mason.” The young man, whom you’d only ever seen on photos, posters and social media posts, smiled as he stretched his hand out for you to shake.
You’d already seen that he’d won over many of your colleagues straight after setting foot on the ground not even 10 minutes ago. A pretty smile here, a soft giggle there, and everyone was blown away by the admittedly handsome man.
Of course, a Premier League player working for a good cause in his spare time instead of being photographed for the next magazine could only be wonderful and you assumed that some of your female colleagues would try and shoot their shot, but you’d try to keep away as best as you could.
Yesterday, shortly before you’d called it a day, your boss had informed you about the new arrival: Mason Mount. You weren’t too much into football, but even you knew who he was. Especially after that one headline had been plastered all over the internet:

And that was the main reason why you weren’t happy about him being here and trying to lend a helping hand. He wasn’t here because he wanted to, but to redeem himself and his reputation. Showing his face while working for a good cause would make people swoon and he’d be in their good books with a snap of his fingers and the thought of the organisation that meant so much to you being dragged into a PR stunt like this made your blood boil.
A lecturer from your university had introduced you to the Holly Wilshere Foundation, a charity organisation that helped people and families in need with handing out affordable or free food, buying necessities for nursery or school kids and partial payments for e.g. school trips.
After having spent a couple of weeks with Holly and the other voluntary workers, you’d grown incredibly fond of the people who came there for support and putting a smile on their faces had become your favourite thing in the world.
Which was why you were very reluctant to let Mason be part of this and potentially ruin it because of who he was.
“y/n.”, you greeted him briefly and shook his hand. “Has anyone already told you what to do?”
If he was surprised by your brash manner, he was good at hiding it. Mason simply shook his head. “No, David only told me to go and find you as you’d take me under your wing.”
“Lovely, that’s the opposite of what I asked for.”, you mumbled, aware that you probably came across as the biggest bitch, but you didn’t care enough to change your attitude. You didn’t need him to like you, in fact, the less he liked you, the less he would be around. At least, that’s what you hoped.
“We are having some sort of party next week for the people who come to us for help and there are still hundreds of things to be done for that. It's probably not your standard but now that you're here, you're going to have to pitch in.”
“I’m not too bad with my hands.”, he told you. The ambiguous undertone was probably not intended, but it still made you roll your eyes. “As long as you don’t make me paint, I should be fine. Last time I painted with my niece she thought my dog was an airplane.”
When there was no reaction from your side, Mason sighed quietly. It was obvious that you weren’t his biggest fan, and he couldn’t really blame you for it after what the press had published about him. It was all blown out of proportion and spun to attract more attention and generate clicks, but he already had a feeling that it wouldn’t change anything for you.
It didn’t sit right with him that you seemed to pigeonhole him, but at the same time he was aware how some of the people in the footballing industry liked to use charity organisations for their own advantage and you probably weren’t aware that he was patron for another foundation as he genuinely liked working with people – preferably away from the media.
“The party is the coming weekend, meaning we have about 5 days to prepare everything, whilst also doing our main work. Now that you’re with me, we can split the tasks so I can help a little more with our normal work.”
“Do you think I could also get to know the other work?”
“I won’t lie, I’m not a fan of the idea, but I’ll see what I can do.”
Mason hated that you were so cold and distant with him, but he was willing to try a little more. He wasn’t sure why, but he wanted you to like him and despite you being a little bitchy, he felt that it was worth trying.
David had described you as a wonderful person, someone people loved to be around and who genuinely loved working here which was why Mason didn’t buy any of your snappy behaviour. Maybe you just had a bad day.
“What can I do? I don’t want to be in the way, so just tell me where I can help, and I’ll try.”
You nodded, thinking it was best to get him to work on something rather than having him talk to you some more, so you asked him to follow him into one of the bigger offices. The others had already put down everything you’d need. Paper, pens and everything for the party bags.
Mason, who’d followed you quietly looked at all the stuff, obviously unsure of what you’d ask him to do. “Well, the name tags have to be made, there’s about 200 of them and then the same number of party bags that need to be put together. There’s more to do, but I think you could start with the tags.”
“Yeah, sure. Shouldn’t be a problem.”, he smiled. Copying names didn’t sound too difficult.
“Here you have the list with the names and all the information you need. Can I leave you with those?”
He was a little disappointed you’d leave him on his own, but he agreed anyway and got to work. The sheet didn’t state anything other than the names, some of them super long and after thinking about it for a moment, he decided to stick to the last name and one letter for the first name.
You didn’t come back for a while and whilst he wondered if you’d just leave him on his own for the rest of the day, his thoughts just continued to travel around you. Despite your bad mood, you had to be a very kind-hearted person as you not only worked here in your free time, but also seemed to get along with everyone here.
And you were pretty. Very pretty. The kind of pretty that had him staring at you in a way he shouldn’t. He knew it was ridiculous, he’d just met you and you didn’t seem to be very fond of him and it sounded pathetic, but he really wanted you to like him.
When you got back into the room, you’d calmed down a little. You’d had a chat with Henry, one of your colleagues who’d become a father not too long ago and the pictures of his absolutely adorable daughter he kept showing you never failed to put a smile on your face.
That smile however faded when you looked at the name tags Mason had finished already. “It’s first and last name, Mount.”, you sighed. “Just like it’s mentioned on here.” You waved one of the tags someone had prepared as an example and Mason just silently looked at the example, knowing he’d messed up. “You’re about as useful as an ashtray on a motorcycle.”
He gulped as his heart dropped into his tummy. Writing name tags was probably the easiest of things and he hated himself for doing it wrong. A blush spread over his cheeks in embarrassment whilst he kept his eyes firmly on the tag in front of him.
“Sorry, I just…I’ll do it again.”, he mumbled. Mason was mortified, knowing you had to think of him as the biggest idiot ever, but you didn’t comment on it again. Instead, you flopped down on one of the chairs and grabbed a couple of empty tags for yourself.
You knew it wasn’t a bad mistake, rather something that probably would’ve happened to you too, so you didn’t say anything and instead enjoyed the way the both of you worked away in silence for a while, the only sounds in the room being the sharpies gently scratching on the paper as one by one, the names were copied onto the tags.
Had you done some research before, you would’ve known that Mason wasn’t one of those people who could stay quiet for long, but as you hadn’t, him speaking up again only irritated you further.
“Are you here every day?”
“No, I have a paid job during the day and can only be here two afternoons per week and then every other Saturday.”, you explained without raising your gaze from the tags. “This week is an exception as otherwise we wouldn’t get everything done in time.”
Mason hummed understandingly as he slowly began to realise just how much dedication it took for someone to work fulltime and work for free three times a week on top. David had mentioned how much you loved the foundation and how much you gave, but he had never thought about what it meant.
“I like what you do here.”, he mentioned, trying to start a topic you might feel comfortable with. “You know, using your free time to help and put smiles on those people’s faces.”
“Look, you don’t have to pretend, Mount.”, you said as you looked up from the tags, eyes locking on his and if you weren’t mistaken, you saw a flash of emotion in them. “I know why you’re here. You might be able to fool everyone else with a couple of smiles and some carefully chosen words, but I know you’re only here cause it’s perfect for getting your good-boy-image back.”
Mason was taken aback by the brashness of your words. He’d suspected that your problem with him had something to do with the latest headlines, but he hadn’t expected you to be so open about it and as used as he was to being disliked, he felt like he had to defend himself. Especially as helping others was something that was very close to his heard.
“I really do like it, y/n. There are so many people, families and kids especially who need help. I’m part of a charity foundation, too it’s-“
You tried to block out the fact that he kept talking despite you not making more sounds than an uninterested hm or the occasional okay, but today didn’t seem to be your day.
“Mount, for the love of god, please be quiet, I can’t even hear myself losing the will to live.”, you mumbled under your breath. It had actually only been meant as a low murmur to relieve yourself of the annoyance burning in your tummy and not for him to hear, but out of the corner of your eye you saw his smile disappeared from his face.
“Sorry.” His voice was quiet and the way he dropped his head to focus on the task at hand, had you feeling a little guilty for being so bitchy, but this ugly devil on your shoulder kept you from apologising.
You just had a really bad day. A really bad one.
In the office this morning, basically everything had gone wrong. Your boss had been moaning about your colleague who hadn’t met the deadline he’d set and then he’d handed it over for you to finish it within half an out. Another colleague had spilled coffee all over your desk and papers, causing your stress level to rise significantly cause less than five minutes later the clients whose house you’d designed came in to take a look at the suggestions only to make a complete u-turn and ask for the opposite of what they’d initially wanted.
It wasn’t an excuse, but you were running low on patience and kindness today and you took it out on the next possible person: Mason.
For the rest of the day, you worked quietly alongside each other, writing the tags and once they were finished, you started with the party bags. When you eventually got up to go and find David, half of the bags were already done.
Mason sighed quietly once you left him on his own without so much as a word. He knew it was probably his fault. Instead of respecting that you were in a bad mood and didn’t want to engage with him, he’d kept talking until you’d snapped. “Just shut up tomorrow, Mount.”, he mumbled to himself.
He wasn’t sure if he was supposed to finish all the bags or at what time he could leave, but when he grabbed another bag to fill, David came in.
“Hey Mase.”, David smiled as he patted him on the shoulder. “We’re calling it a day for today, so you can leave to. Thank you very much for your help, mate, we really appreciate it.”
“Okay, I’ll head out then.”, Mason smiled. “I erm…”, he scratched his head, unsure if he should even propose it without having spoken to you first. What if he only made things worse?
“Yeah?”
“I thought maybe for the kids you know…it would be fun to do a little sports tournament and…I could bring some cones and balls from Carrington?”, he scratched his head. “Only if you don’t have anything else planned that is.”
David’s face lit up at Mason’s suggestion and nodded quickly. “Oh, that would be really perfect. The kids will absolutely love it. Thank you very much, Mason!”
-
When you came in the next morning, Mason was already there, sitting in the same office as yesterday and already back to filling the party bags.
He looked up when you stepped into the room. “Morning.”, he sent you a shy smile, but dropped his gaze back on the table rather quickly. The atmosphere was awkward, but you couldn't blame him. You’d been a mardy arse yesterday, it was no wonder he didn’t want to speak to you.
“Morning.”, you smiled although he couldn’t see it anyway. “We can set the tables in the big hall first and then get back to working on the bags. Bit of variety hasn’t hurt anybody, has it?”
Mason didn’t acknowledge your attempt at a joke to lift the tension, but he nodded and got up, following you into the big hall where the food would be served at the party. He didn’t speak at all on the way there, obviously careful around you and it made you feel even worse.
For a while, you set the tables on the opposite side of the room, whilst Mason did the same. Your gaze kept wandering to Mason every once in a while, observing how he was a little quiet and far from the energetic person he’d been yesterday, even when others came in to talk to him.
You knew it was because of you and what you’d said yesterday, and you kept thinking about a proper apology. Once you’d woken up this morning the realisation of what you’d said had kicked in and left you feeling like the biggest piece of shit.
Obviously, you still weren’t super happy with him being here and the potential scratch his name could bring to the foundation, but the way you’d acted had been far from okay.
After mulling about it for another couple of minutes, you eventually made your way over to where Mason was about to finish the first table.
Your eyes quickly flitted over the arrangement of the plates and you noticed not only that it wasn’t done in the way it was supposed to be, but more importantly the lack of the instruction sheet.
“It’s supposed to look like this.”, you mentioned as you handed him the missing sheet.
“Sorry.”, he blushed, trying to quickly rearrange the stuff as he was incredibly embarrassed at messing up another thing. The day couldn’t have started better…
“No, it’s okay, you didn’t know. I thought there was an instruction sheet out here, too.”
You helped him correcting the arrangement quickly before moving on to another table. Mason still didn’t speak, his gaze firmly set on the table and it as the minutes passed by, it became more and more obvious just how uncomfortable he was around you.
With a deep sigh, you placed the cutlery aside. “Hey erm…Mason, I’m sorry for yesterday, okay?” You squeezed his arm gently to make him look at you. “It’s not an excuse, but I’ve had a really bad day and took it out on you. I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay, I can be a lot. You weren’t the first to tell me.”, he chuckled, but in his kind brown eyes, you could see that he didn’t find it funny at all. He looked hurt – understandably so. Especially if people had actually told him he was too much.
“You haven’t been too much or anything.”, you shook your head. “Actually, if the day hadn't been so crappy, I would’ve loved to hear your stories.”
When Mason raised his eyebrows with a small smile on his face, you blushed.
“And you’ve been a great help. I know I said something else yesterday, but I didn’t mean that. Mistakes happen and I should’ve told you what exactly you were supposed to do instead of leaving you on your own and snapping. You’ve lifted a huge weight off my shoulders with how much you’ve managed to do and I’m really thankful for that.”
“Oh, it’s nothing.”, he shrugged, but he couldn’t hide the bright smile. “Listen, y/n. I know you think I’m only here because of that headline and I won’t pretend it has absolutely nothing to do with it because yes, my agent told me that something positive would get me back into people’s good books, but he gave me a couple of choices and I chose this because I genuinely like helping people.”
His tummy flipped when he caught your soft smile. Now that you both seemed to be on better terms, he finally allowed himself to admit that you were incredibly pretty. Your kind eyes crinkled, and you tilted your head a little when you smiled and for some reason, he found it adorable.
“You’re a patron for a foundation, right?”, you asked, and he nodded quickly.
“Yeah, it’s a charity for children’s palliative care. They made me patron two years ago on my birthday and I know it wasn’t meant as a birthday present in that sense, but for me it felt like it. The work they do there is absolutely amazing and I’m really proud to be part of it and to help them and support those kids as best as I can.”
The broad smile and the gentle expression in his eyes as he talked about the charity organisation had your heart leaping in your chest. He meant every word he said, and it impressed you.
“I wish I could do more, but with our schedule it’s quite difficult.”, he sighed. “I think now that I’ve settled in here in Manchester, I’ll see if I can find something.”
The two of you kept talking while finishing with setting the tables and now that you finally got along, it was way more fun than before. Mason was a genuinely funny person and being around him was surprisingly easy. He had good jokes up his sleeves, asked about you and your life and he never seemed to be bored by what you said.
And he was a bit of a touchy person, never inappropriate or assaulting though. It was just a brush of his hand against yours when he passed you, his knee knocking against yours as you sat down for your lunchbreak or grabbing your forearm whilst laughing at something you’d said.
Soft and gentle touches that made your tummy flip from time to time.
“David told me about the idea you’ve had, you know? The idea with the tournament for the kids? I think it’s amazing.”
Mason tilted his head a little. “You think so?”, he nudged your shoulder with his, a hint of a proud smile playing on his pink lips you found yourself staring at more often than you should.
“Yeah.”, you nodded. “We’ve planned some sort of games and stuff, but we can’t provide the fancy things you can bring and the whole idea making it a bit of a competition is great. The kids will all love it.”
Once your break was over, you patted his toned thigh. “C’mon Mount, you asked to get to know the other work we do here. You can join me at the food station if you want to?”
You could basically see the way his eyes lit up as his smile grew even wider, making the dimples pop a little deeper.
After you’d brushed him off yesterday, he hadn’t expected to be allowed anywhere near what you usually did, so you suggesting otherwise felt like he’d won the lottery. As much as he liked assisting you with the preparations for the party, the idea of getting to see you doing what you loved so much and doing his bit too, was something else entirely.
Bringing someone new in was always a bit of a risk. You knew how much of an effort it was for people to come here to get cheap or free food for themselves and their families. Many were ashamed and saw themselves as failures and it was your job to make them forget that. A premier league footballer who earned millions of pounds in a year probably wasn’t exactly helpful with that.
But to your surprise, Mason was a natural with people and especially kids: Joking around with them whilst handing out food, talking to all of them and making them all feel welcome and respected. He was one of a kind, a gentle and respectful, polite and empathetic. He was special and you couldn’t help but smile.
-
The whole week passed rather quickly; too quickly for your liking and you found yourself being sad the second you had to say goodbye. You and Mason had grown close over the last couple of days, and you’d realised that you not only worked well together but would also make great friends.
“I know we didn’t start off as the best of friends, but I think we’ve made it work.”, you laughed as it was time for him to leave and Mason nodded.
“Yeah, I like you a little more now.”, he chuckled as he nudged your shoulder gently.
“Seriously though, thank you for helping Mase. You’ve done a lot and I know all the kids will love the tournament. You’ve been great with all of them, and I know you probably won’t be able to make it, but you’re of course invited for the party tomorrow.”
Mason smiled at you softly. “I’ll see what I can do, y/n. Thank you for having me and letting me be part of this amazing team. I genuinely enjoyed being here.”
“Take care Mase. Get home safely.”
“I will.” He leaned down and to your utter surprise pressed a soft kiss to your cheek, making you blush deeply before pulling you into a hug. “See you around.”
-
The party had started about an hour ago and so far, everyone was enjoying it. You were mingling with the crowd as you tried to speak to as many as possible, but your eyes kept wandering over to the entrance door, hoping he’d show up.
It was difficult for him, you knew that. From what you’d understood training had re-started today after the small break they’d had and you didn’t think he’d actually have time to come, but the tiny bit of hope inside of you was relentless and kept you on your toes.
“I hate to interrupt.”, David smiled apologizingly at Liza you were just talking to. “I need to steal her for a moment.”
“What’s wrong? Did something happen?”
“No, no, everything’s fine. I just need you for something real quick.” David didn’t say any more than that as he pulled you away from the crowd and into the office section of the building. “It’s a bit of a surprise.”
He steered you towards the end of the hallway and when you eventually entered one, you were met with three young men. You furrowed your brows at David, wondering why he would present you three people you’d never seen before as a surprise.
“Right, I forgot you have no clue.”, he laughed. “This is Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw and Lisandro Martinez. They all play for United.”
United players? What the hell?
“Hi, it’s very nice to meet you.” The first one, Marcus apparently, held his hand out for you to shake. “Mase has told us lots about you and this organisation and since we had time and love what you’re doing here, we thought we’d stop by after training.”
It wasn’t typical for you, but you were actually speechless as you shook the other’s hands as well. Mason had spoken to his teammates about the charity and you? But as happy as it made you, you couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed that his teammates had made it, whilst he hadn’t.
“Wow…erm…well thank you for coming.”, you stuttered, sending them all a grateful smile. “The tournament will start in about 10 minutes so if you want to see everything, I can show you around a little.”
“Oh, I’ll do that. They brought some paperwork you will have to look through. It’s about the prizes.” David didn’t give you any chance to protest as he took the three players with him, leaving you on your own with the paperwork.
“Prizes?”, you mumbled as you skimmed the papers in front of you. “What prizes?”
You flinched as hands came to rest on your shoulders and a quick kiss was pressed to your cheek. “Well, what’s a competition without a prize, hm?” His voice was deep and very close to your ear, his lips just about brushing against it as he spoke, and it sent chills down your back.
“Mase? What the fuck?” Turning your head, you smiled brightly, eyes locking on his warm ones and the way he was so close nearly cost you your composure. “You really came.”
“Did you actually think I’d miss this?”, he laughed. “C’mon give me a hug you muppet.”
In the blink of an eye, you were up from your seat and fell straight into his arms, head smushed into his chest as your arms wrapped around his waist. Mason’s heart skipped a beat at the close proximity and your scent filling his nose. He wouldn’t admit it out loud, but he’d missed you.
He squeezed your smaller body tightly, causing you to chuckle and eventually pull away.
“I can’t believe you actually came and brought teammates. You could’ve told me.” Lightly, you hit his chest in jest, shaking your head.
“Well, that would’ve been too boring.”, he shrugged. “Also until around lunchtime I wasn’t even sure we would make it cause the gaffer kept sending us on new rounds around the pitch.”
Mason grabbed the papers from the table. “And now about the prizes. You’ll find I’ve not only spoken to Luke, Rashy and Licha, but also to our manager. Him and I, we’ve convinced the club of inviting all the kids for a tour at Carrington. Well, the kids and the staff obviously.”
You gasped at that, not believing any of what he was saying, but Mason simply smiled.
“Some of us will be there too. The kids will get to play a bit of football with us, ask all the questions they want and then will also get to see Old Trafford.”
“Mase, no that’s too much, seriously, we can’t-“ But he didn’t let you finish, simply shutting you up by pressing his finger to your lips.
“That’s not all. At the moment it’s still a maybe cause I’m waiting for the final confirmation, but I’m trying to get them tickets to watch a game this season. And I promise you, no media at all. Not at Carrington, not at Old Trafford and it won’t be mentioned for the game either.”
You had to try hard to keep your tears at bay, but you were sure he could see how your eyes had welled up as he cupped your cheek with his warm hand.
“No, Mase we can’t-“
“But you can, y/n.”, he interrupted you again, tilting your head back a little so he could catch your eyes. “Please.”
The second he dropped his bottom lip, you knew you were a goner. No one would ever be able to say no to those big brown puppy eyes and that adorable pout of his.
“Mason, that’s…wow…I don’t really know what to say. They will love you so much for it.”
“I don’t want to be mentioned anywhere. This will come from the foundation, not from me.”, he kissed your forehead gently. “All of you here do so much for the kids and it’s so obvious just how much it means to you. You are the heroes and I know all the parents and adults know that already, but with this you could be the heroes for the kids too.”
As a tear dropped from your eye, Mason was quick to catch it with his thumb. “After I got to see your space here, I can’t wait for you to see mine. Okay?”
“Okay.”, you whispered, completely overwhelmed by the emotions shooting through you. “You’re insane, Mason Mount.”
With the exception of the small tournament, where he ran through the disciplines with his teammates and the kids, Mason spent the entire day by your side. His hand kept sneaking on the small of your back or the back of your chair, always searching for some physical contact and whilst you normally weren’t too much into it, you actually enjoyed it.
And just like the whole week, the afternoon passed way too quickly and sooner than you wished, it was time for them all to leave.
“Thank you so much for being here today. You’ve made those kids’ days. They won’t shut up about this for the next weeks, if not months. Also please send the biggest thanks to the club for making it all possible.”
“We will. Thank you for everything you’re doing here. It’s such an important look and I know it gets overlooked a lot, so we’re happy to support you in any way.”, Marcus smiled.
Once they’d bid their goodbyes, it was only you and Mason left. The latter seemed to be a little nervous as he kept playing with the hem of his shirt.
“I really liked working here.”, he admitted. “Do you think I could come back?”
“I think I speak for everyone here when I say you’re welcome to come back anytime.”, you nodded, watching as a bright smile spread over his features.
“That’s good to know.”, he grinned. “There’s something else I wanted to ask, though.”
You watched a deep blush tainting his cheeks and the bridge of his nose, as he awkwardly scratched the back of his head.
“You know, I really enjoyed working with you and erm…well…you can totally say no, that’s okay…I was just wondering if maybe erm you’d like to go out with me? Like…on a date?”
For a moment, you only stared at him. At a loss for words as you most definitely hadn’t expected him to ask you out. Not Mason out of all people.
“I’d like that a lot.”, you whispered shyly, your cheeks now a deep red too.
*
Due to his hectic schedule, it had taken two weeks for you to finally go on that first date. He’d decided to keep it lowkey and booked a table in a small, Italian restaurant where he knew they had small, secluded spaces, so you could enjoy a bit of privacy.
He’d also told you about the article and what had really happened in the bar that night. That those guys had harassed him all night long up to a point where they’d pushed him and he’d simply defended himself.
For the second one, he’d taken you to the cinema, where you’d cuddled in the furthest corner, away from prying eyes whilst enjoying Barbie and now about four weeks after you’d first met, your third date was just about to end.
Mason had invited you over to his. He’d made his favourite pasta dish and whilst you’d already loved your first two dates, this one was different. You both were a bit more carefree and less observant as without any people around, you could be yourselves and as touchy with each other as you’d liked.
After dinner, Mason had convinced you to stay a little longer. He’d pulled you into his side on the sofa and put some random film on to prolong the little time he had with you, but now it was late, and you found yourself in the hall putting your jacket on, dreading to leave him.
“When will I see you again?”, he pouted, feeling a little sad that he had to let you go so soon.
You shrugged. “You have an away game this weekend, why don’t you message me once you’re back and I’ll come over after work? I could bring some take-away.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
“I really liked today, Mase.”, you mumbled. “I liked the other two as well, but today felt…”
“Special?”, he offered, hoping you’d feel the same and when you nodded, he sighed in relief. “Text me when you’re home, yeah?”
“Will do. Good night, Mase.”
Mason smiled and leaned in just like he always did. You felt his lips brushing your cheek and pressing a proper kiss to your skin and whilst he’d done that countless of times already, it never failed to make you feel all giddy. His hot breath fanned over your face as he pulled away a little, leaving nothing but an inch between you and all of sudden, the atmosphere changed.
There was this tension, you’d never felt before, as his eyes flickered between yours and your lips, making you feel all weird and fuzzy inside. The way his lips hovered over yours for what felt like an eternity had your heart beating out of your chest and when he brushed his nose against yours, your knees went weak.
“I really want to kiss you, y/n.”
You didn’t know who went for it first, but only seconds after his admission, your lips met in an innocent and shy first kiss that had your tummy erupting in butterflies.
Mason could feel his heart hammering in his chest as he reached out and grabbed your waist softly, his shaking hands just about making contact with your body. His thoughts were consumed by you and your taste, by the way you felt against him and how the kiss felt it was the most perfect one he’d ever had.
And he never wanted it to end, but when he eventually ran out of breath, he pulled away slowly, eyes still closed as he wanted to savour the feeling. You had to take a couple of shaky breaths, your fingertips brushing over his arms causing goosebumps to erupt on his skin and the thought of having such an effect on him, had your tummy flipping again.
Mason smiled sweetly the second he opened his eyes and locked them on yours. Foreheads touching, you kept close to one another as neither of you wanted to let go yet.
“Good night, y/n.”, he whispered before kissing your cheek again, just like he always did when saying goodbye, but this time you felt like it wasn’t enough. Not after the mind-blowing kiss you’d just shared.
And it was as if Mason felt the same as he only shook his head and dipped down to kiss you again. A little firmer this time, more passionate and like he really meant it.

Just came up with another Axolotl!Mabel AU but this time it takes place in the 80s and she’s Stan’s 8-year old daughter. The Axolotl noticed how miserable Stan was and they felt sorry for him and wanted to make his life better so they became a human child named Sally. Sally looked identical to Mabel, only with WAY more messier and wild hair due to a lack of hair care products. She wore this beautiful purple nightgown which were the only clothes she had. Stan loved her so goddamn much. Even more than himself. He made sure she knew she was loved and cared for in every way possible, and the Axolotl was satisfied, for they knew they could heal his broken soul, one snuggle at a time. But everything changed once Stan was invited to go to Gravity Falls. He took Sally with him, and Bill was still present in Ford’s mind. He instantly recognized the Axolotl and knew they had to be taken out. So, the first night they were there, Bill possessed Ford, walked over to the attic, and began beating Sally. Sally jumped out of the window and rolled down the roof to escape but the glass shards only wounded her more. Bill grabbed Journal 3, chased her down, and slammed the book into her skull repeatedly until she fainted. Then he grabbed a stick and stabbed her right through the heart. He then carried the corpse back to the cabin, hung it up in the living room where Stan was sleeping, and left a note framing Ford for Sally’s death. The next morning, everything went to hell so fast. Stan was traumatized by the corpse, and once he read the note, he ran towards Ford’s office and started beating the shit out of him. The fight escalated down to the basement where the portal was turned on. Stan pushes Ford into the portal, screaming and crying and swearing his revenge…until Ford is gone and Stan realizes what just happened. He just breaks down and cries his eyes out until his throat feels sore.
30 years later, Stan finds out he has a grand niece and grand nephew. Mason is cute but Stan gets teary-eyed once he sees Mabel. She looks exactly like Sally. Stan gave Mason back to his parents but refused to let Mabel go, holding her so tightly against him. 12 years later, he finds out the twins are coming to visit him for the summer. When they arrive, he absolutely cherishes Mabel. She shared Sally’s kind and bubbly personality with a touch of hyperactivity like him when he was a kid. He was practically a puddle of tears and love when he was with her. Dipper, on the other hand, he treated just like in the canon show. Always giving him the hard chores, making fun of him, and talking down on him. He thought of the kid as a wimp not knowing he was the reincarnation of his long-lost daughter.

"you are the reason i'm smiling." jackie & mason
it would've been sweet, if he wasn't half dressed up as santa claus. it was for a charity with the hockey team of briar, and he'd volunteered to be santa claus, because who wouldn't want to be showered and adorn by all the kids at the christmas charity? mason loves kids, and he was secretly, well, maybe not so secretly, very excited to be a dad. walking to his girlfriend on the bed, only wearing the lower part of his costume, just the pants. no fake belly and beard yet. "just you wait, this costume comes with all the parts. you're going to love it, jacks." winking at her, quickly stealing a kiss before he returns to project santa claus.
"you could go as my wife," he shrugs as he puts on the fake belly. he went all out on this one, no pillows for mason carter, he was going to be the best santa claus these kids had ever seen, and maybe brett could inherit the costume after him - for his nieces or nephews, since obviously, santa claus and daddy can't be the same person. or maybe he'd make the rookie of the whitlocks, aiden, dress up as santa for the kids, because no way in hell that little lucy is popping out any babies any time soon. she's just a baby, and he adores her very very much. "wanna be my mrs. claus?"

spending the weekend with the mounts and them loving you!!
thanks for sending this in! ❤️ and i added a little detail to it (the first time you meet his family), hope you like it 🤭
ps: i’m using neutral pronouns for the reader here 🫶🏻
—
Mason brought you to spend the weekend with his family, and you were nervous since it would be the first time you met his entire family.
The day before, you already asked Mase like a million questions about his family and what you should do around them – and he found this super duper cute. He loved how much effort you were willing to make to fit in with his family, but he kept reassuring you they would love you without you trying too hard.
Now arrived at Mason’s parents’ house, you kept thinking to yourself if they would see you as someone who is worth dating their beloved Mase. Mason held your hand, telling you to not overthink things because everything will be okay.
Mason introduced you to everyone, and they were very welcoming! Even Stacey – his eldest sister who was still in Australia – asked you to visit her there sometimes. They all teased Mason for not bringing you to them sooner, and you couldn’t help but laugh. They also asked you so many questions – nothing too much, really – and you patiently answered to every single one of those.
They told you so many things about Mason – and he was embarrassed the whole time. Debbie gave a baby Mason photo that you loved so much for you to keep, and even brought up on how you babies would look like which got both you and Mason saying “woah, too soon!” right away then laughed.
Seeing how wonderful everyone has been to you, you worries were gone in an instant. You became so relaxed and – as Mason previously said – enjoyed your time with them. Mason saw how well you have bonded with his family – even his nieces were immediately got so attached to you – and he just knew he’s fallen in love with you even harder.
Seeing how smitten their son was, Debbie and Tony smiled at each other and came over to him.
“Masey, I’m so glad you are with someone who loves you and truly cares about you. I can tell they make you happy.” Debbie said.
“Yes, they’re wonderful, son. We love them!” Tony added.
Mason became so emotional and gave his parents the biggest hug. You saw this and though you weren’t sure what that was about, it warmed you heart – you basically have owned his parents’ hearts and you didn’t even know it yet.
As the weekend came to an end, you and Mason had to leave. You gave everyone a hug and told them you had an amazing time with them. Before you left, Debbie and Tony told you to take care and visit them more. At the same time, Mason hugged both Jasmine and Lewis goodbye and they said something to him.
“Seems like you’ve hit the jackpot in your love life, little bro!” Lewis said.
“I love them and so do the girls. Marry them and don’t you dare hurt them.” Jasmine expressed her approval.
Mason chuckled.
“Yes, I will one day and no, I won’t hurt them. You have my words.”

He’s not my boyfriend
Pairing: Mason Mount x Fem!Reader
Warnings: none I guess.
Summary: You and Mason have known each other for a while and have had your romantic moments together but you have never let that get in the way of your friendship, that is until one Sunday when you went to lunch at his parents' house and in a joke you ended up realizing the feelings that you have for each other.

Mason and I met because of Sophia, Kai's girlfriend, her and I met at a coffee shop a few years ago and became friends after that, and I think a few months later she invited me to a club where the boys were going to celebrate Chelsea's victory against some other team that I don't remember the name.
And so that's where me and Mase met, in the beginning when we were introduced we didn't talk much but when me and Sophia went dancing, someone on the dance floor bumped into me and I tripped and twisted my ankle and that's when he and the boys came running to see if I was ok, they tried to convince me to leave but I didn't want to get in the way of their celebration so I said I would sit in the VIP area where we were and that's when he offered to stay there with me.
It was then that we started talking that night and that is when our friendship began, I admit that we had our moments of weakness where we were certainly not just friends at that time but we never let it get in the way of our friendship.
It was now Sunday and we were going to his parents' house for lunch, Mason said that they wanted to make sure that I was going and I’m actually a little nervous about the fact that it would be the first time that I would meet his niece.
And I know how much she loves him and that he loves her too and I really want her to like me or it would be really bad if she didn't.
I was just finishing putting on my sneakers when I heard someone knocking on the door, I stood up and when I opened it I saw Mason with his typical silly smile and a bouquet of flowers in his hand.
"I brought them for you." He held out a bouquet of lilies, which were my favorite flowers.
"Awn, thanks Mase, they're beautiful." I took them in my hand and smelled them. "Come on in. I'll put them in a vase."
"You look nervous." He says closing the apartment door.
"That's because I am." I turn off the water and place the bouquet into the vase.
"And why is that? You already know my parents."
"But not your niece and I know how important your relationship is to you and I don't want her to dislike me."
"She'll love you, don't worry."
We left next before we were late and the whole way I was nervous and it only got worse when he parked in front of his parents' house. The trip from London to Portsmouth was an hour and 25 minutes so we had to leave early.
We got out of the car and Mason had to take my hand and lead me to the door because otherwise I would be standing by the car by now.
"It's going to be okay." He says in my ear before he opens the door and we walk in. "We're here."
"Uncle Macey." I heard a childish voice and she came running up to him.
She was the cutest little thing of all, she was wearing a Chelsea jersey with his number and Mount in the back and in a blue skirt with lights.
"Hi my love." He bends down to her height letting go of my hand and hugging her. "How are you?"
"Good, did you know I'm going to get a little brother or sister?"
"I know so, are you excited?"
"Yes." She answers excitedly and looks at me. "Hi."
"Hi." I smile lowering myself to her height. "I'm y/n."
"I'm Summer."
"I know, your Uncle Masey talks about you a lot."
"Are you his girlfriend?"
"We're friends."
"Your hair is beautiful." She says running her hand through the blue locks in the middle of the brown ones.
"Yours too, I love your pig tails." She smiles and hugs me.
"Do you think my mom will let me have hair like yours?"
"Here’s the thing, I have some colorful locks of hair at my house, you ask your mom if she'll let you go there and your Uncle Macey will take you there sometime okay?"
"Alright, I'll ask her." She rushes off and I stand up.
"She's a sweetheart." I turn to him, who smiles. "you’re doing it again.
"Doing what?"
"Looking at me with that silly smile."
"Oh, sorry I..."
"No need to apologize, I like it." He smiles and takes my hand leading me to where his family was.
After lunch and helping with the dishes, Summer patted my leg and I bent down to hear what she wanted.
"Do you want to play with me?"
"Sure." She smiles and takes my hand, pulling me into the living room.
We sit on the floor on a fluffy rug that was there, she brought a male and a female doll and I got the female doll.
"Do they have names?"
"This one here is Mason and that one there could be you." She says innocently. "Then you could be Uncle Macey's girlfriend."
She looked at me with those big, bright eyes and I couldn't tell her it couldn't be that way, and so we started joking around and I admit it was funny when she made Mason and I kiss.
"What are my favorite girls doing?" He asks coming over to us and sitting down next to me.
"We're playing dolls, that's you and that's Auntie y/n." She says distractedly. "You are her boyfriend here."
"Am I?" He says looking at me with a teasing look. "Let’s hope that in real life se will be too."
I looked at him surprise and Mason just gave that silly smile again that makes me fall in love with him every time he does it.
[...]
Summer was extremely upset when it was time for us to leave, but Mason arranged with his sister for him to bring her to my house next Sunday so that the three of us could spend the day together.
The way to my apartment was silent on our part, with only the music in the background.
"Do you want to stay for dinner?" I asked unbuckling my seat belt.
"Are you sure? We've already spent the day together."
"Oh okay." I said gracelessly and got out of the car.
"Sorry I didn't mean to sound like I didn't want to be with you, because I do, I just didn't want you to feel obligated to take me in after we spent the day together." He explains himself quickly.
"Mase, if I didn't want you here I wouldn't have invited you. I like being with you."
"Fine, we can cook together." I smiled at him and we took the elevator to my apartment.
"What I said there was true." I looked at him. "About you being my girlfriend."
"What about it?"
"I like you, I've liked you since the first time I saw you and when I had the opportunity to get to know you better I fell even more in love. You are kind and caring and I love everything about you.
"Mase..."
"And I know I may be ruining our friendship by admitting this but I can no longer hide that I..."
As he kept talking I kissed him, I held his face with my hands and kissed him, he was surprised but soon kissed me back.
We had kissed before but this time it was different, this time we were allowing our romantic feelings to show up in the kids.
"I'm in love with you too Mase and I would love to be your girlfriend."
"That's great because I really wanted you to be my girlfriend."

heyy, how are you? :) so, since it's father's day here in brazil, i decided to do something cute for this special day
REMEMBER: english is not my first language
fluff word count: 2k
this is a bonus of pinky promise with mason and olivia, you can read it separately if you want.
✦۟ ࣭ ⊹
“But am I your favorite? You need to tell me.” Olivia asked Mason. You were working and they were watching Barbie and the Three Musketeers for the second time, as Olivia had become obsessed with the movie, but now she started to get bored and started asking Mason random questions.
“Yes, you are my favorite, you know that.” Mason was paying attention to the movie, unlike Olivia.
“But you have other nieces, you swear to me that I am your favorite?” She stood up from the mattress they had placed on the living room floor, then looked at Mason with her hands on her hips and a serious expression on her face.
“I swear to you, pumpkin.” You smiled to yourself watching the two interact.
It had been three months since you and Mason had been together, and just like his promise, you were happy, but most importantly, Olivia was happy, and that was enough. It took you a while to tell her that you were dating Uncle Mason, but trips to Manchester were frequent or Mason would show up in London and sleep at your house even if he has to leave the next morning.
“Don't be jealous, Summer is your friend and Mason is her uncle.” You said, still paying attention to the computer in front of you. Olivia left Mason and went to you, holding your neck in a hug while he was still watching the movie.
“I know, mum, but I like Mase and I want him to like me too.” She whispered, so you laughed.
“He loves you, Olivia, you know that.” You squeezed her cheek, leaving a kiss on her nose, which was a little red from the cold. Ever since you and Mason told her you were together, she stopped calling him "Uncle Masey", just because she understood that he was now her stepfather, but Mason said he had no problem being called Uncle Mason, because he was already used to it. “Go put on a coat, you're freezing.”
You traveled to Manchester and would spend the weekend with Mason, also taking advantage of the fact that the game on Sunday would be at Old Trafford and you would be able to see Mason play. Olivia loved the days you guys traveled as she would spend time away from home and get to know new places with you.
Not to mention the fact that Mason decorated a room for her, exactly the way she wanted. You didn't know it, but Mason and Olivia had already talked about the decoration and when you arrived one weekend, you found a decorated room. Olivia almost cried when she saw the room the way she asked.
The room was white with pink details, butterfly drawings on the wall and a huge bed just like Olivia always asked for. Mason even put a desk for her to study and a small bookshelf with some interesting books for children. It was much better than her room in your apartment in London, and that's why it was always hard to go home when she had so many comforts in Manchester.
Mason spoils her too much, and she is getting used to this life very easily.
“Mum, can you help me take a shower?” Olivia asked quietly, so you agreed and closed your computer, walking her upstairs to help her bathe. Olivia is an independent child, but sometimes lazy and most of the time she would ask you to help her so she wouldn't have to do everything alone. Plus, the bathroom in Mason's house is different, so she can never get the water to the temperature she wants.
“Have you and Mason picked out dinner yet?” You asked as you helped her take off the coats she was wearing. Even with the house being heated, Olivia liked to stay warm.
“Mase said we can order pizza.” She walked past you and stepped into the hot, running water of the shower. You grabbed her shampoo that Mason had bought just for her to use, as well as her favorite strawberry soap.
Mason has always been attentive to Olivia, he never stopped listening to what she likes, what she says, and she always felt comfortable sharing everything with him, just because Mason made her feel comfortable.
“That's a good idea. Here, shampoo your hair, do you want some help?”
“No.” Olivia was thoughtful, but the day was tiring for her, as she had fun before deciding to watch a movie with Mason. “Mum, can I ask you something?”
“Of course, honey.”
“Can I call Mason dad?”
You froze. You didn't expect that question coming from her, in fact, you never thought she liked Mason so much that she wanted to call him dad. You had only been together for three months, who would have guaranteed that you would be together forever?
“What?”
“He's your boyfriend now, mum, and I love Mason so much, I also wish I had a dad like my friends in school.”
“Babe… I don’t know, Olivia. We have to ask him about this, and what if he doesn't want to? You'll be sad about that.” You rubbed Olivia's hair as she played with the water that was falling on her.
“Oh, yes, but what if he wants me to call him dad?” She looked at you with teary eyes, and you were touched to realize that she really wanted Mason's presence in her life.
You always thought you could fill her lack of a father, but realizing now, Mason was always there for her, just like Robert.
“Oh, babe, why did you never tell me anything about this?” You knelt down and didn't care about getting your clothes wet. Olivia came up to you with her hair full of foam, and she placed her hands on your face.
“I don't want you to think I'm sad. You're the best mommy in the world, but Mase would be a cool daddy too.” It would be a lie to say you didn't want to cry about it.
“We'll ask him then.”
✦۟ ࣭ ⊹
“Mase, can you get me some juice? I'm thirsty.” Olivia asked Mason, who was walking to the kitchen to set the table for you guys to have dinner, and she was lying on the mattress on the living room floor again, watching Pinocchio.
“Olivia, go get it yourself.” You scolded her, knowing that Mason does whatever she wants. You were walking down the stairs after taking a hot shower, and Mason had already ordered the pizza for you.
“I'll get it.” Mason said and walked to the kitchen, so you followed him and watched as he poured the grape juice into a glass for Olivia and took it to her. He quickly returned with the empty glass.
“You can't do everything she asks, Mason. She's taking advantage of you because you can't say “no” to her.” You were serious and Mason looked at you, shrugging.
“She just wanted some juice, love.” Mason came closer, grabbing your waist and pulling you against him. He was wearing a hoodie, just like you, and he was so warm that you just wanted to lay down next to him and sleep in the warmth.
“Yeah, juice, shampoo, bedroom, toys, shoes, clothes…”
“Guilty.” Mason laughed and you wrapped your arms around his neck, lifting your head and kissing his lips. You sighed as he deepened the kiss, and it felt so good to kiss him that you could spend hours like this, just being around him. “Hmm, I love you.”
“I love you too.” You spoke and the doorbell rang, so the two of you went to the living room while Mason went to get the pizza. Olivia stood up and held your hands, walking with you to the kitchen.
“May I ask?” She spoke quietly, knowing Mason was behind the two of you, so you nodded, giving her a smile and encouraging her.
Mason placed the pizza on the table, oblivious to Olivia's nervousness, which was now transparent. She was fidgeting with her hair and kneeling on one of the chairs, and you knew she fidgeted when she was nervous. Mason served you slices of pizza while the two of you chatted randomly, and Olivia still hadn't said anything.
“I left it reserved for you tomorrow at the game, you can stay close to Anouska, she's going with the kids there.”
You agreed, but Olivia was still nervous and wasn't eating, you were sitting next to her, so you placed your hand over hers, reassuring your little girl.
“Mase, Olivia wants to ask you something.” You spoke for her, and Mason nodded and finished chewing before looking at the two of you, paying attention to what Olivia wanted to say.
“Mom, I got nervous.” She said shyly and you smiled, running your hands over her back and rubbing. Mason had a smile on his face even though he didn't know what it was. “Mase… Hm… I want to know if- hm… I want to know if I can call you dad.”
You could see the shock cross Mason's face, because he clearly wasn't expecting this. Olivia also looked at him as he didn't look away from her for a second.
“What?” That's what he managed to say, swallowing hard.
“Only if you want to.” Olivia spoke softly, and you could tell that Mason's delay in responding made her feel insecure, and she snuggled closer to you. You looked at Mason with a small smile, knowing that it was a lot of information for someone.
“For real? You want to call me dad?” Mason asked and Olivia nodded, and you could completely see it as his eyes filled with tears and he put his hands over his eyes, trying to stop his emotion.
“I want to.” She smiled. Mason got out of his seat and walked over to her, kneeling down beside her on the floor and pulling her against him, hugging her. Olivia wrapped her arms around his neck and it was probably the most beautiful scene you had ever seen between them.
Mason had his eyes closed as he hugged her, but a huge smile on his face as you saw a tear run down his face. That's when you felt like you were crying too, because a tear fell down your leg.
“Only if I can call you my daughter too.” He whispered, but you heard. Olivia let out a loud laugh of happiness, and you felt your heart explode with so much love and happiness as you finally felt complete.
“Yes, yes.” She cheered and you smiled, then Mason let go of her and wiped his own eyes, looking at you next. She jumped into Mason's arms, ignoring the pizza she wanted so badly, and looked at you. You stood up and walked over to the two of them, so Mason wrapped an arm around your neck while holding Olivia in the other arm. “We are a family now.”
“After seven years.” Mason mumbled and you smiled, leaning in and leaving a kiss on his lips. Olivia smiled and left a kiss on Mason's cheek and yours. “Can you believe it? I have a daughter now.”
“It's a big responsibility, you know.” Mason rolled his eyes and you smiled.
“Thank you for this, really. I couldn't ask for anything better.” He spoke to you, then to Olivia and smiled at her. “I love you both, my girls.”
“I love you too, dad.” Mason's eyes filled with tears again when Olivia spoke, but he held back from letting them fall. “Mum, we need to move to Manchester, families live in the same house.”
“Hey, easy girl. One thing at a time.”
“She’s right. She can't live in London while her father lives in Manchester.”
“Calm down too, that's a topic for another time.”
“Yes, now I want pizza.” Olivia spoke and you smiled, then Mason placed her in the chair again and looked at you gratefully.
Maybe it would take you a while to move, or maybe not. No one knows what might happen the next day, but you hope things will work out forever.

Wolverine pussyfucker here to fill in gravity falls lore info!
Stan got kicked out and sold sham products (Stan-vac: it sucks more than anything!) until he got a letter from ford telling him "hey pls pull up to my reclusive shack"
WELLLLLL FORD HAS BEEN BUSY!!
He accidentally summoned a dream demon from the second dimension named bill ciphwr and entered a toxic yaoi relationship where bill would use ford to try and get a physical manifestation while manipulating (and lowky falling in love) and ford was in love with him and referred ti him as a muse
Untillll they broke up and bill went a little wacky
So bill was using ford to build a portal to let him into the third dimension, byt ford was like "shit i need to destroy this" after they broke up so he was like "stan can you take my journals where i detail expressly how to build this portal and go a thousand miles away and never talk to me again"
Stan was pissed because "we havent talked since we were teens and now u want me to leave!? Frick you!!" And accidentally pushed ford INTO said portal, ending up with ford going through universes in an attempt to destroy bill and/or get home
Stan was like "shitballs i need to bring my brother home" and spent thirty years pouring over 2/3 journals and figuring out complex math and science while making as much money as possible to pour it into fixing up the portal because he loved his brother so much
WELLL he had 2 great nieces/nephews named mason/dipper and mabel, who pulled up to gravity falls when their parents were fighting one summer and dipper found the missing journal so stanley was like "hey =) fork it over =) i have GYAT to finish the portal"
MEANWHILE ford was becoming hot and doing interdimensional mercenary stuff and finally he was about to kill bill cipher when the portal opened back up and he was sucked back into gravity falls
But yeah stanley stole fords identity to fix the portal to bring ford home
If you held me at gun point and asked me what the show was about I’d never be able to come to this conclusion Jesus Christ I thought it was about two kids and a weird old man never ever would I guess this is the plot behind it
ALSO THE ROMANCE IS REAL?? I THOIGHT IT WAS A JOKE!! AND HE TRIED TO KILL HIM AG THE END??
And dear god poor Stan his whole life he’s just trying to make up for mistakes he’s made and they aren’t even small like hey get better at communicating with your brother no it’s hey fix this portal to bring ur brother home😭

maybe mason doesn’t want a big birthday party this year because he’s still a bit down from the injury, so you decide to have a quiet day, just the two of you, where you spoil him with lots of presents, a pamper day, a golf date, and his favourite dinner in the evening, you just want to put a smile on his face knowing hes been going through so much recently, he deserves to be happy. And then maybe he has a small party with his family the next day for both his and Mila’s birthday (I think her birthday is just a few days after his) 🫶🏼
ooooh okay so I was literally thinking yesterday about surprising him with a golf date for his birthday
Lets say you really struggle to buy him gifts and never really know what to get him, but there’s a golf course he’s been wanting to play for a while so you surprise him by booking him in to play there
You’d be really worried at first, thinking that maybe it’s not the best idea considering that he’s injured, but you check with a friend of yours who’s a physio, and maybe even try and get in touch with some of the people from United, and they all reassure you that it’s a great idea and it wont cause him any strain and would probably be good for him
Maybe you book a few extra spaces as well just in case he wants to bring some friends to play with him but he ends up just wanting to take you. Maybe it even has a hotel and spa on the grounds, you so book yourself into it for the night so that you can make a trip out of it.
You’d told him about the golf and the night away the day before so that he knew you’d be going away. So the morning of his birthday you wake him up with his favourite breakfast in bed, decorating the house with loads of balloons and giving him some of the other gifts you brought for him. You’d have a lazy morning in bed, with some lazy birthday sex of course, before getting ready for the day and packing up your bags.
It’s obviously pretty cold in January so you wrap up nice and warm, swooning over Mason in his little golf outfit as you both climb into the car and begin the drive to the course. You arrive and check into the hotel, leaving your bags there so that you can head over to the first tee and start his round.
You don’t play golf so you spend most of the afternoon watching him play, which you have no complaints about at all. You sit next to him on the golf buggy and admire him as he hits shots, completely in his element. Maybe he even encourages you to have ago a few times but it only ends in the ball going the complete wrong direction and you’re both in fits of giggles every time to even attempt to have a go.
It would be so much fun. You’d be freezing cold but it would be worth it getting to see the smile on his face every time he comes back over to join you on the buggy.
In the evening you’d get a little more dressed up and go to the hotel’s restaurant, enjoying a nice meal before heading back to your room to spend some time in the private hot tub that you’ve got on the balcony.
and there’d be loads more birthday sex. in the shower. in the hot tub. anywhere he can have you he’s got you
The next morning you’d wake up and enjoy the spa for the morning, lazing around in the different pools and rooms before needing to head back up to Manchester to meet his family at home, who are driving up to spend a few days with you both.
You’d have a nice meal that evening, with you and Debbie preparing one of Masons favourite dishes and it warms your heart watching him play with his nieces in the living room
That night, once you’re tucked up in bed, he thanks you for everything you’ve done for him, not only over the last two days but since you met him. You never fail to make him feel loved and wanted, and the last two days especially have made him feel so special. He may be going through a really hard time, but he’s got you, and as long as you’re there supporting him he knows he’s going to be alright.

I don’t like you, Mason Mount | Chapter 7
Previous chapter | Next chapter
Masterlist

"Excuse me, can you help me with... Daniela?"
"Mason?" I say, the books on my arms almost falling to the floor. "What are you doing here?"
"What are you doing here?"
"I work here. I thought I had told you about it."
"Yes, you did. But you didn’t say where exactly."
"Oh, so my sister didn’t tell you about it when she also told you about our holidays?"
"I'm sorry about that."
"Whatever" I say. After confessing all my feelings for Mason and crying my eyes out, Monica also confessed that she had told him about Portugal and the restaurant, that she had convinced him to take his family there. Us bumping into each other, hadn't been a coincidence. She had planned it all, and look how it ended.
"I promise this has been just a coincidence. I was doing a Nike event at their shop, and my agent told me there was a bookshop close by."
"So that's why all those teenage girls were queueing when I arrived earlier. They were there for you."
"Yeah" he smiles, that dimple of his showing and making me feel something on my stomach. Something I hadn't felt for the past six months. But no. That's not it. I’m over him and this is just that I am hungry. I didn't eat much for breakfast, and that's what I'm feeling. Nothing else. "So, can you help me find some books or not?"
"I guess I can" I sigh, putting the ones I was holding back where they belong. "What do you need?"
"Something for my nephew and my nieces. They are all coming over for Christmas."
"How old were they? I know you told me but I can’t remember."
"Six, five and four."
"What do they like?"
"The three of them are obsessed with dinosaurs for some reason. Anything Disney too. And they love painting, they could be entertained with that for hours."
"Ok, follow me."
"How long have you been working here?" Mason asks while we move through the shop.
"A couple of years."
"And do you like it?"
"I do, yes. I've always loved books, and for years I said I wanted to open my own bookshop with maybe a coffee shop and some cats."
"You never mentioned it when we talked. Only that you loved cats" he chuckles.
"I am a cat lady, yes. Is there a problem with that?" I say, giving him a book.
"No, not all. It actually fits you. Liking cats, I mean. You are like them."
"What do you mean?"
"Well... They look all soft on the outside but can bite, and you are the opposite. You look like you can bite, but are a softie on the inside. And then you also have some issues trusting people when you first meet them, but if someone manages to get through all that and earn your trust, you happen to be the loveliest person. There will be moments when you will pull out your claws to defend yourself because that's just who you are, but when you love someone, you do it unconditionally."
"That's... That's..." That's true. That's me. He's gotten it right. How can he know me so well?
"Lost your words? Maybe because I'm right?" he asks with a cheeky smile.
"No, I have not lost them. And no, you aren't right."
"The colour of your face says otherwise."
"Do you want me to call one of my coworkers to help you with this? I think there is a girl who happens to like you, God knows why."
"There is no need, I'll behave."
"You better" I say, putting two more books on his arms.
"More?" he asks.
"Oh, c'mon Mount. They are for your family and you have the money to pay for them. Better waste it on this that on whatever you are wearing right now."
"Oh, I had missed hearing you say that you hate my clothes" he laughs.
"Your girlfriend doesn't do it?"
"She doesn't" he says, his smile disappearing from his face.
"Well, it was expected. She's dating you, you have to be blind to do it."
"Yeah" he murmurs.
"Everything ok?"
"Yes, don't worry. More books?"
"More books" I say, moving to another bookcase, but still thinking about how his face changed when I mentioned his girlfriend.
━━━━━━❃━━━━━━
"They are gonna love them. Thank you very much, Daniela."
"Just doing my job" I say while I finish wrapping the last book.
"How is your family doing? I haven't asked."
"Good, good. Same as always. Though I think Lola has a new crush."
"She doesn't like me anymore?"
"She still does, but I think she currently likes your bff a lot more. And I don't blame her, he's hot."
"My bff? Do you mean Dec?"
"Yep."
"Oh, wow. The betrayal. From both of you."
"Sorry" I shrug. "But can I... Can I ask you a favour?"
"Wait, wait, wait. You... Are asking me... A favour? It's a Christmas miracle!" he laughs.
"Shut up, Mount. It's for Lola, not me."
"Ok, I'm listening."
"I've been looking for tickets for your Boxing Day game everywhere because it is against West Ham, but they are expensive as hell. Could you..."
"Get you some?" he asks with a stupid grin.
"Yes."
"I can. But on one condition."
"What" I say, rolling my eyes.
"You have to come to the game. Maybe wear my shirt if you still have it."
"I still have it."
"You do?"
"Yeah. It's somewhere at the back of my wardrobe, but I still have it."
"Great. Then you have to come to the game and wear it."
"Is it necessary?"
"It is. Do we have a deal?" he says, offering me his hand.
"I guess we do" I say, shaking it and feeling goosebumps all over my arm. But I'm getting goosebumps because I'm cold. Someone opened the door, and this reaction is because the cold came in. Nothing else.
"I'll text you when I get them."
"You still have my number?" I ask. "I thought that after what happened at the restaurant..."
"I tried do delete it more than once, but... I don't know" he shrugs. "I just couldn't do it. What about you?"
"Uh?"
"Do you still have my number."
"I do" I confess. I've also tried to delete it a few times, but I haven't been able to. There was something stopping me.
"Mason, it's time to go" a man says behind him.
"Yes, yes. Thank you very much for your help, I'll keep you updated about the tickets."
"Thank you" I say.
"Merry Christmas, Daniela."
"Merry Christmas, Mason."
