In this image, Arbus reveals her fascination with the bizarre and for the strangeness of biological duplication. The fact that Kubrick took his inspiration from this particular photograph is explicitly made clear when Jack Torrance's (Jack Nicholson’s) hallucinating son, Danny, repeats the reassurance of his therapist: "It's just like pictures in a book."
