An easy explanation on why Yamato is a man.
Let's start with this. Most people say that in Vivre Card it says that Yamato is a female as you can see on the picture. Certainly Yamato is a female.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately for YOU, who a female is not a gender identity. It is sex. Let's explain first the difference between sex and gender. Sex is an assigned female or male at birth, this means having female or male reproductive organs. Female is an uterus and male is a penis. While gender indentity is how you FEEL about yourself. As a female you can identify as a man, masc or anything you want to. Anything how you feel like.
But then let's say that's not how it works. Vivre Card is still nor made by the author of One Piece, Eiichiro Oda.
Tumblr media
And as we can remember many Vivre Cards were wrong a lot of times. Let's even take Yamato's Vivre Card. He has Observation, Armament and Conqueror's Haki, right? Well in Vivre Card it says he has only the first two. So it's not a good argument to use against Yamato being a man.
"But Yamato just calls herself Oden"
Yes, he does. But didn't you know what was One Piece about? It was about freedom and being themselves. Yamato quits calling himself Oden at the end of Wano arc, yet still everybody call him a man. If Yamato was only acting there would be a wholesome scene with Luffy and Yamato, probably Yamato crying, calling himself a woman and saying "I'M YAMATO, NOT ODEN!"
But it did not happen. Yamato still calls himself a man. Luffy calls him "Yama-o", which basically means "Yama-bro". (Also this is super cute, cause "yama" means a "mountain" in Japanese and considering Yamato is like two times taller than Luffy it makes sense and makes it cute ❤️)
"But she still has boobs"
Mind you that not all transgender people have to feel gender dysphoria. Also how was he supposed to get a top surgery? He was locked for 20 years in a country without such surgeries and it was war, then right after war he was injured, it's not a surgery to make, when someone is injured, definitely not. It's a shock to the person they're flat and it's kinda long process and all the testosterone. I doubt there is something like testosterone for transgender people in One Piece, but if there is... still HOW in a country like this being locked for 20 years?
Anyways. I have so much more reasons, why you are transphobic if you call Yamato a girl.
But I'll stick to few more
Tumblr media
Here Yamato said "Kozuki Oden was a man, right? So I became a man too!!". Many transgenders (idk can I call us transgenders? It sounds cool, like superheroes) understood their identity, just because they liked someone and wanted to be like them.
Transgender identity is an aumbrella. Imagine it like this: There's a really big umbrella, there's said it's a transgender umbrella. Under the umbrella there are many other smaller umbrellas. One of non-binaries, one of trans masc/fems, one of trans men/women etc. Because transgender is every identity that is not identifying and using pronouns to your assigned at birth gender. Which Yamato does not. Yamato might be a female and even a girl. But if he uses he/him pronouns (which he does) is still under the transgender umbrella. Which makes it transphobic if someone doesn't use his preffered pronouns.
Yes, you are transphobic, be proud of yourself 😘
But if you knew this one... Then what are you doing reading/watching One Piece? You clearly didn't understand the point of it and that loved by everyone Bon Clay is also queer (LGBTQ+ term used for someone who is LGBTQ+)
Bon Clay doesn't have a partner in Baroque Works, because they identify as both woman and man (this is to make you understand better, because they identifies as genderqueer which has no real explanation, it's an identity that you feel yourself and people can't tell you how you feel).
Tumblr media
Ivankow is genderfluid, which is an identity, where your gender varies from moment to moment.
Tumblr media
Even Kaido calls Yamato his son.
Tumblr media
Baroque Works says queer rights ✅️
Revolutionary says queer rights ✅️
Kaido says trans rights ✅️
Also if you read/watch One Piece and think that you are on Luffy's side, while you are racist/trasphobic/homophobic/judging/etc.
Then you are not on Luffy's side. In fact you are exactly like the World Government and should read/watch One Piece with your eyes open. This is about freedom, happiness, equal rights and All the good things. One Piece is not about the imaginary world. It's the same as our world. There exist hate, which is the World Government. Luffy is freedom and happiness. Revolutionaries are equal rights and freedom.
Never call yourselves One Piece fans again pls.
If my English was in any way no good, go ahead and tell me, it's not my first laungage
(ALSO I LOVE BEING RIGHT AND TELLING DUMB PPL THAT WILL DEFINITELY DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT THEY ARE WRONG HAHA!)
I'm literally Yamato irl.
THAT'S ALL FOLKS! ❤️

just a quick warning, I do read most of the cast as trans in some way, especially the siblings, so if you get easily triggered by stuff like that, just don't interact please 😸
please be respectful of the space I have curated ★
Trans Obey Me! Headcanons ("brothers" edition)
Tumblr media
Lucifer:
transmasc Luci genuinely brings me so much joy
like, the idea of him being the oldest and first to come out?
im in love
Lucifer is one of the more cut and dry ones to me
but I do love people who draw/write him as transfem, theyre the biggest troopers ever
Luci definitely acts as the main support for a lot of the others
especially when it comes to appointments for hormones
he/him, FtM
Mammon:
i am so insanely obsessed with this man
me and him are t4t trust
nah, but for realz
trans guy Mammon with the COOLEST top surgery scars, you will not catch them lacking
probably got a sick ass tattoo to give them a cool shape too
similar to the white on his chest in his demon design
off topic, but chubby Mammon actually makes me 🤤
need to be squished between his thighs yesterday bro
jjhjhjhjh they're so handsome look at that little guy go
i feel like he would say his pronouns are he/him but secretly wouldn't mind they/them also
he just feels like he would be seen as less of a guy
i love them
he/they, FtM (and so devastatingly bisexual (affectionate))
Levi:
everybody say thank you to Levi for inventing being transgender
she ..... she's my everything
if Mammons my boyfriend she's my wife bro
(Mammons my favourite, Levi just has more whimsy)
gamer girl
i NEED her bathwater gang you don't understand ......
i made a whole post about transfem Levi, you should check it out ;)
tho trans guy Levi also has a special place in my heart and my bed (he's just like me fr)
do you wanna know the good that flat girl Levi would do for the ecosystem??
it would end climate change
she/her, MtF, Ruri chan was her trans awakening (half joking (not really))
Satan:
oh Satan the demon that you are
yknow they do say that Satan invented the gays
this NERD
book lover? likes cats? BLONDE?
how much more she/he/they can you get bro
demon born out of hatred, aged from transgenderism
that's all I'm saying
do you think Satan would feel the need to tie himself down to one specific gender identity?
fool.
Satan is everything and Satan is nothing
she/he/they, shrugs (genderfluid would be most accurate, but they're mostly unlabeled)
Asmo:
see the fandom argues about Asmo all the time
"is it ethical to headcanon them as trans just cause they're feminine?"
well, no, not necessarily, but that's besides the point
Asmo's similar to Satan in the way of not being tied to one specific gender or expression
but I feel like she's much more aligned to being a guy than Satan is
like, he doesn't mind other pronouns and sometimes enjoys them
but I think she's bigender with a heavy masc lean
expression wise he's more fem, but gender wise she's more masc
she/him, bigender and so full of love
Beel:
him.
i. i love him so much.
he's genuinely one of the sweetest characters in the game, and someone I would genuinely like irl
anyways however
I feel like this one is very stereotypical of me
cause this is the same headcanon as most of the trans part of the fandom
but Beel is so very trans man
like, didn't have top surgery just exercised to turn his boobs into pecs typa trans man
he's so powerful
and so lovely
and so, so transgender
he/him, FtM
Belphie:
similar to Levi, I do actually have a separate post just about Belphie
so if you want a less brief headcanon, check it out
anyways
Beel and Belphie are both trans to me, even in scenarios when I don't see the others as such
but my thing about Belphie is massively projection and based off my own identity
I think Belphie is also trans, but doesn't pass, doesn't want surgery, and doesn't necessarily want testosterone
like, I think he would feel a bit isolated from his siblings, especially Beel sometimes, since they're all relatively passing
but Beel would reassure him and they would cuddle on bad dysphoria days together, tons of snacks piled onto the bed for Beel and movies on autoplay for background noise :)
he/him, nonbinary

npmd headcanons because my brain is rotted <3 <3
heehee hoohoo i am rotating the entirety of hatchetfield in my brain
im updating this as i think of more stuff so bear with me if this gets stupidly long
richie has audhd. i know this because he is me i am him we are EACH OTHER /j
ruth and richie met in the anime section of barnes and noble in middle school and nearly screamed when they realized they were going to the same high school later on
steph is lactose intolerant and is not brave about it ever. tries to share a hot chocolate with pete and spends the next three hours miserable
grace is doomed to kill in every timeline but it can be prevented by her best friends keeping her too occupied with mundane nonsense for her to find a gun
richie has so much tboy cringe energy. that man kins sasuke you cannot tell me i'm wrong
i have hit them all with my transgender and gay beam >:3c they're the friend group that hit their gender and sexuality realizations in waves. someone's egg cracked first (richie) and it set off a chain reaction
pete is genderfluid and usually presents masc (he/they)
bi with no strong preference either way
only recently began to dabble with femininity in his gender presentation
steph is gnc transmasc (he/she, used interchangeably)
bi with a masc preference
no matter who you are, if you have a crush on steph, you're gay. them's the rules pal
richie is transmasc (he/it)
aroace spectrum! he's demi on both ends, fluctuates pretty often.
somehow incredibly perceptive to romance unless it directly involves him, then he's as dense as a brick
ruth is a girlthing because she's swag like that (she/it/they)
pan with a fem preference
her preferred type is pathetic mascs and intimidating fems
grace is fem-presenting nonbinary (she/they)
formerly closeted lesbian
had the WORST case of comphet until she realized she didn't necessarily have to be attracted to MEN to be attracted to masculinity :3
max is transfem (she/he)
she's a butch lesbian!!! she doesn't feel pressured to be hyper-feminine after realizing she's trans, because she's already pretty happy with her outward presentation
saw all her new friends going through their various gender and sexuality realizations and is just "i hope this doesn't awaken anything in me :)" (it did)
OH also paul is richie's uncle! richie's dad is paul's older brother. they don't interact much but it is literally Autism to Autism
if the group were to fall victim to any of the Lords in Black, it'd probably be as follows:
max - wiggly. rage hatred biting nightmare nightmare >:3
steph - nibbly. he's got the closest ties to the CotSC and also we need more nibbly rep
pete - tinky. duh. probs gets trapped in the box in timelines where steph dies before him and he desperately wants to bring her back
richie - blinky. idk it's just vibes to me. he seems like the kind of guy to go nuts for eye symbolism
ruth - pokey. she's a theater kid and i think that pokey would have a field day shoving her into the fucked up and evil spotlight
grace - all of them. they take turns babysitting her in various timelines. she is their favorite child
richie 100% uses anime terminology to describe normal ass situations. he calls steph a tsundere once and steph has to act like her world wasn't just shifted two inches to the left for the rest of the day
oh also in redemption timelines they have movie / bingewatch nights!! they cycle between everyone's favorite shows or films. it's the best part of their week every single time
max was cast as a leading role the one and only time she ever auditioned for theater and it freaked her out so much that she declined the role
richie's hair is Like That because he tried to get the cool anime spiky hairstyle to work for him (it didn't) (he doesn't realize this until college)
pete was a greek mythology girlie i just know this. something about him screams "i read percy jackson way too much as a kid"
also grace hand embroiders all her clothes as a hobby! (this is semi-canon, since she has embroidered strawberries on the cuffs of her jeans in the show)
the first time steph smoked ouid, he made the mistake of using cbd oil and a pipe at the same time. man was in SPACE
all of them are poly with each other but at different levels:
steph and pete are Dating dating. so are max and grace. wholesome yaoi VS toxic yuri
ruth and steph are almost definitely "best friends" in the historical sense
richie and ruth are qpp. if they were both 100% straight they'd probably be the most annoying couple in the world
pete and richie kiss sometimes but its genuinely platonic for them. just bros being bros
ruth and pete are friends to ??? to lovers to friends who cuddle sometimes
richie and steph are polar opposites but they love each other to death. black cat and orange cat kind of relationship
max and grace barely intersect with the nerds but they still consider all four of them to be part of their weird situationship
(grace definitely experimented with all four of them, with max's permission. just to be Sure. y'know.)
max is doing her best to make amends with the nerds but it is very slow going. she has gotten to casual fistbump level with them though!
the nerds usually just look at max and grace from the sidelines like they're watching two wild beasts circling each other in their enclosure. their flirting is NOT rated pg
richie unintentionally dropped the fact that he has a fursuit - a timberwolf, because i'm projecting - and ended up helping everyone design their fursonas. pete is a traditional chimera (goat, snake, and lion), steph is a plain black cat, ruth is a flemish giant rabbit (she did research), grace is a sheep, and max is a checkered-tail nighthawk.
any time that the group gets spam calls, all they have to do is hand the phone to ruth and they get taken off the lists the moment she speaks. ruth was frustrated by it at first but it became a game of "how many companies can i inconvenience before they stop calling hatchetfield numbers entirely"
steph braided pete's hair once and he damn near proposed on the spot
ruth knows how to sew (from doing tech) and helps teach max how to mend her clothes! max ends up being really good at it! she goes on to teach the entire football team how to fix their uniforms and ruth ends up being the honorary team favorite for at least a year
im taking jon matteson's "richie should have blue hair in a movie version of NPMD" and fucking sprinting with it. he dyes his hair at least once a year and it's a wildly different color every time
ruth is the kind of gal to love games with lots of violence because it makes her feel like a badass vigilante (she can barely do a push-up in real life) (just like me)
steph is deeply afraid of large bodies of water. major L on his part seeing as he lives on a fucking island
bouncing off of the above hc, pete's afraid of planes. these two can't travel out of hatchetfield without one of them nearly shaking out of their own skin
max doesn't actually like football that much. she's REALLY good at it, yeah, but she'd prefer to play most other sports even if she isn't good at them! she likes the challenge of doing something she won't automatically win!
grace probably writes lists of things to keep everything in order. she's got lists of all her favorite foods, a checklist of daily chores, etc etc (it's also because she's got undiagnosed autism and she functions better when she has a Routine)
no matter what, pete will always stop and talk to the homeless man downtown. he doesn't really know why, though. (ted wishes he could say something to pete, but he never does. best to keep him at arms length.)
ruth really really really reeaaaally wants to cosplay but she's nervous that she'll be deemed as the "cringy weirdo" by other con-goers. she eventually admits this to richie, who rallies the group into a group cosplay for moral support
it takes a lot of debate for them to find a fandom they all want to cosplay from. they settled on FNAF, specifically security breach bc it's Timely (they go to the con in 2022)
pete is glamrock freddy, steph is monty, ruth is glamrock chica, and max is roxy!
richie was glamrock bonnie and he gets so mad when the official design comes out a year later bc it was completely different than what he imagined
grace eventually agrees to dress up as vanessa (she never played the games) (she thinks the pizzaplex is a real animatronic mall) (everyone they meet thinks she's method acting)
they end up crashing at ruth's place absolutely DRAINED. they all have imprints on their arms from carrying around an absurd amount of merch. pete nearly started a fistfight in the parking lot with a bakugo cosplayer. max nearly finished it.
they all agreed that it was one of the best things they've ever done and also to Never Do It Again
richie had a brief phase where he was obsessed with black butler and he regrets it to this day
grace and max both have scary dog energy but in different directions. max (post-transition) looks really intimidating at first glance but she's got golden retriever energy. grace will stare at you with the scariest fucking eyes if you're mean to retail employees
steph has always wanted a pet, but her dad never allowed it. when he moves out and gets an apartment with the nerds, they all agree to rescue a pair of bonded cats for his birthday. steph doesn't stop crying for at least an hour
steph and pete named one of the cats, while ruth and richie picked the other one's name.
Mittens is the Lautski baby, a black and white girlie who is incapable of mischief. she's like the disney ideal of a cat. she's a cuddle monster and will be so sad if you have to get up and do things without her
ruth and richie are the proud coparents of Sir Jotaro Gooberton (the Third). he is the most stupid tabby you will ever meet in your life and he has made the crime rate in the household go up tenfold.
a very common Lautski date night is going to the candle section of walmart and just sniffing every single one of those bad boys until they get a headache

You know what I'm tired of seeing? I'm tired of seeing this phrase:
Tumblr media
This was tagged on a post regarding transgender rights and awareness.
You know why I'm sick and tired of seeing it?
Because I want every single person who uses it to define a man to me, and they never will, because they judge me based on my appearance, on the flesh I was born into.
What is a man? Is it anyone with a dick? Well there goes your whole "support women" schtick, cause not all people with a dick are men.
Is it anyone who identifies as male? Well there goes your whole "support trans people" schtick, cause some men are afab.
Is it anyone who is a cis man? Well there goes your "acceptance and love" schtick, cause some cis men are allies who are fighting just as adamantly about our right to live and love and be ourselves as we are.
Is it anyone who LOOKS like a man? Well there goes ALL OF THE ABOVE, because then you're judging based on outward appearance, assuming their identity, and generalizing that they must be awful and horrible, because they look like a man and therefore they are one and should stay away from you, which is EXACTLY what the homophobes and the transphobes say about US.
Do you have deep-rooted trauma surrounding men from a majorly traumatic moment or a series of them throughout your life? Alright, I get that, I can respect that, by all means, continue, build your safe space and do it your way.
Or do you just hate "men" (whatever the hell you define that as) because you had a couple annoying experiences or you met a few bad apples and let them dictate the entire rest of your life by allowing them to live rent free in your head as eternal reminders to be hateful?
"men dni" which men? trans men? transfems that look male? People with both parts that present as male, willingly or unwillingly? Non-Binary folk who present as male?
What men aren't allowed to interact, and why?
And I know, I know, asking why is a huge faux pas, but it's fucking important to ask why in this case.
It's stupid as hell for Taylor Femgal or Alex Boyfella to be a bigot against all men and male-presenting individuals, trans or not, while simultaneously saying "Trans people should be loved and respected!" because then it's ultimately not about trans people, because what Tammy is actually saying is "The trans people I LIKE should be loved and respected!" which is fucking AWFUL as a platform.
On the other hand, it's completely justified if Riley Ladygirl or Jamie Mascdude went through hell for six years solid at the hands of a man (or group of men) and now has a legitimate ptsd response to seeing/interacting with men or male-presenting individuals.
I'm sorry if that's a hot fucking take but I don't see how someone can preach acceptance and love and tolerance while simultaneously alienating an entire extremely-hard-to-define group of the human population, WHILE ALSO condemning and demonizing the people they're alienating FOR ALIENATING OTHERS.
You don't get to be an ally and a hypocrite at the same time. You don't get to say "We deserve to exist" when you're telling another group they don't deserve to exist.
We don't fucking trade fascists for fascists.
So let me make this VERY fucking simple.
If you have "men dni" in your dni list, just fucking block me. Because you're either saying "No men, not even the allies that risk their lives right alongside us at pride events in dangerously anti-lgbt cities", or you're saying "No trans masc individuals, if they identify as men they're just as bad", or you're saying "No trans fem individuals, they were born male so they're bad", or you're saying ALL of these at once.
And I for one will NOT fucking sit here and see more of that absolute horse-shit on my dash.
Still here? Cool, one last thing to say.
ALL TRANS PEOPLE ARE FUCKING VALID, AND I FULLY BELIEVE IN TRUE, COMPLETE GENDER EQUALITY, WITHOUT ALL OF THIS STUPID "MEN SUCK" "WOMEN SUCK" BULLSHIT.
We're all just people trying to do our best, so stop fucking ADDING to the piles and piles of hatred. Even if you're one of the people with "men dni" in your dni list, know that I still support your identity, I still love you as one human to another, and I will still advocate and fight for your right to exist in a state of life that is comfortable and joyous to you.
But I cannot and will not sit here and see more and more people telling entire genders not to interact simply for being the gender.
Isn't the entire point of fighting for trans rights and gender equality so that EVERYONE, regardless of sex or gender or identity, can stand on the same level footing as equals, interacting and loving and being free side by side?
Stop fucking saying "I advocate for trans rights" when you're literally turning around and saying "Unless they're a man".

TMNT
Info about my iteration tmnt:
Yoshi (Splinter) is from the hidden city, when he turned 25 he went to explore the world above. He gets himself into shit, finds a bunch of baby turtles with goop on them, and becomes a father (btw, bro comes from a pretty shitty household full of generational trauma).
He runs away to raise the turtles, and ends up finding a nice little space in the sewers, to which he builds them a home.
Donnie and Raph are twins both 16 with an hour age difference, Leo is the middle child at 15 and Mikey is the youngest at 14. Casey is a 16 year old transgender bitch and April is a 17 year old Girlflux KRAANG hybrid thing. O’neils mother really just banged a mushy alien thing that can shape-shift into anything in the universe.
Tumblr media
Donnie:
Galapagos Tortoises
16 (oldest child, older than Raph by an hour)
Intersex, Biromantic, they/them
Has a dinosaur obsession, likes learning about the human body and other animals, like trains and machines, has probably had a couple lab rats and just didn't tell Yoshi (Splinter). Bro definitely knew.
Usually a bit too big for clothes, so he gets Raph to make most of them to make them bigger. Usually wears "baggy" pants (they ain't baggy on him), long sleeve thermals and flannels.
Tumblr media
Raph:
Common Snapping Turtle
16 (second oldest, younger by an hour)
Bisexual, He/ Him
He likes sewing, knitting and painting. Has a massive collection of old magazines, comics, books and other random items because he has a hard to giving stuff up.
Has a little pet turtle named Slusher. He will fight you over food and will bite you if deserved.
Usually wears windbreaker pants, singlets and jackets.
Tumblr media
Leo:
Painted Terrapin
15 (middle child)
Unlabelled, Trans Fem, She/Her She likes skating, finding cool bugs and watching si-fi movies. She's not really into horror movies, but can handle them. If you give her the chance she'll talk on and on about her interest in Galactic Heros (similar to space heros). She also really likes glitter.
She'll probably eat anything. Like. Anything.
Usually wears sweaters, leg warmers and tracksuit pants.
Tumblr media
Mikey:
Spotted Turtle
14 (youngest)

Usually wears beanies, shorts, hand gloves, shirts and ties. Sometimes bracelets too.
Tumblr media
Yoshi (Spliter):
Rat Yoki
41 (father of turtles)

He's extremely new to parenting even now, has had no idea what he was doing from day one. He's not the best father but he tries. Watches soccer, dramas and soap operas. Gets all their from the thrift store or the bins. Has a bracelet that disguises him as human. Usually wears a band t-shirt and sweatpants or pyjama pants.
Tumblr media
April O'Neil:
Part Indian, Part KRAANG
17 (friend of the turtles, has an older brother)
Sapphic, Girlflux (she/her, they/them, she/ they)
She can "shape-shift"into pretty anything as long as they can picture it. It's a defence mechanism of the KRAANG. It's basically camouflage. She's able to hide their ear tentacle things, which are usually used for hunting things down and connecting to other KRAANGs. She's a pretty good fighter, and usually uses a baseball bat. And she usually hides her KRAANG features.
They also play baseball. They moved from Michigan when she was 13. She's into filming, journalism and photography.
Usually wears long sleeves, jeans, converses, cardigans and her homemade necklaces and earrings.
Tumblr media
Casey Jones:
Part Mexican, Part American.
16 (friend to turtles, oldest child of two)
Bisexual, Trans Masc (He/Him)

Born and raised in New York. He's lost a couple of teeth but he's all good. He's broken his nose twice, busted his lip, fractured he's knee, elbow and a couple of his fingers. Did get put on medical marijuana for a bit after he'd been bashed against the barrier, causing him to dislocate his shoulder. He's a pretty good skater, on and off the ice, and really enjoys it. Usually wears jeans, tops and/or singlets and boots.
Tumblr media
Renet:

She's into swimming, sculpting and dancing. she goes to visit her mother every school holidays.
Usually wears lounge pants, shirts or tank tops, jackets, leg warmers and boots.
Tumblr media
Timothy:
Korean
16 (friends with the turtles)
Omnisexual, he/him
He grew up with his mum and little brother in a farm house. They moved to New York when his mother gets a job. He's really into basketball, and is pretty good at it. He's kinda like Troy from High School Musical. But gayer and better. His mother met Sunita's dad, they hit it off and he and his little brother become step siblings with Sunita. He likes singing, basketball and books. He has nothing to do with his dad.

On the transandrophobia/transmisogyny discourse:
From what I've seen, there seems to be a lot of people on both sides of the issue misrepresenting each other's stances, acting in bad faith, or attacking each other. This is likely because each person sees the world through the lens of their own experiences and fails to truly understand the experiences of the other group. It would be easier to say "both sides are equally correct", but that would be cowardly and inaccurate. It's more accurate to say that each side doesn't accept that the other side is reliably reporting their experiences, and is trying to use their side to negate the reality of the other. But the reality of the situation doesn't seem to be well understood by either side, which is why I make this post.
On transmysogyny:
Anyone claiming transmysogyny isn't real or isn't a problem is a terf, full stop. Trans women and trans fems on this site have been pushing back against structural discrimination both in tumblr and in real life for so long that it has widely entered public awareness. This awareness of transfemininity has both positive and negative effects on public perception. Many, if not most people now know that trans women exist, for example. However, that publicity leads to many people having an opinion on the matter, a lot of it negative. Feminism has made great strides over the decades, and it's becoming quickly stigmatized to be an open misogynist, though not all of those advances have translated to better treatment of trans women, even among leftist circles. Transmysogyny has become a hot button topic, and that leads to both increased awareness about the struggles trans women and trans fems face, as well as increasing the danger they face due to that level of exposure to the public eye. It's true that the world contains a great deal of discrimination against trans women and trans fems. No one worth listening to would debate that. However, increased awareness of the existence of trans people affects trans men and trans mascs as well, which brings me to,
On transandrophobia:
Public awareness of trans people has skyrocketed over the last few decades, bringing public awareness of trans men and trans mascs into a kind of exposure it's never had before. Combined with the rapid growth of feminism, acceptance of transmasculinity is experiencing growing pains. It's only recently become popular to treat women as superior to men, when historically, it's been quite the opposite. This creates an odd dynamic for those transitioning towards masculinity, among people who consider themselves feminists. Concepts such as "betrayal" and "ruining a women" get tossed around by people who don't consider themselves terfs. Obviously right wingers would be against all transgender people, regardless of direction, but it's predominantly leftists that take a stance against trans men. The weaponization of the term "theyfab", among other things, is a contributing factor towards the stigmatization of transmasculinity. I have personally seen screenshots of social media comments by pretransition trans mascs who say that the stigma prevalent in leftist circles in the internet has caused them to choose not to transition, so it's not as if the internet's collective disbelief in the existence of transandrophobia isn't doing measurable harm to people.
On transphobia as a whole:
Now we come to the part that affects everyone. Especially among leftists and pro-transgender groups, masculinity is being treated as an inherent threat. An easy example to point to is groups that claim to be for "women and nonbinary people", which are transphobic in their execution, regardless of which group you belong to. Trans women and trans fems are expected to perform femininity to be accepted, and any deviation is seen as an invasion. Nonbinary people are expected to be feminine or feminine and afab, or they're not accepted, despite nonbinary not meaning "woman lite". Transmasculine people are either shunned for their masculinity or misgendered and treated as "afabs with some gender going on", which is transphobic. In both cases, trans people are treated as their AGAB. This dynamic is repeated in many "inclusive" spaces, and beyond being wildly transphobic to pretty much everyone, it fuels infighting among the trans community about who has it worse, which only serves to destabilize solidarity and make easier targets of everyone.
Synthesis:
Trans women and trans fems face a lot of structural discrimination due in part to a longer history of public awareness, and in part to misogyny.
Trans men and trans mascs face rapid onset backlash from feminists and leftists, in the form of "man hate" becoming a popular form of bigotry.
Both of those experiences deserve terms to discuss the transphobia of each unique experience. To deny either group the permission to do so is to insist that their problems don't exist, and to deny the lived experiences of real people.
However, that does not mean that the two experiences are equal in scope or severity. Transmysogyny is a huge structural problem, and has been for a long time. But transandrophobia as an emerging type of discrimination distinct from transphobia and transmisogyny does exist. The terms need not describe equivalent things in order to be allowed the language to discuss them. Trans fems face structural discrimination, but that doesn't mean trans mascs don't experience discrimination at all. Different people are affected by different things, but that doesn't mean the opposite problem doesn't exist for someone else.
Misgendering in any direction is transphobia, but the specific type of transphobia that insists that "masculinity bad" isn't distinctly transmisogyny or generalized transphobia, or even misogyny. The reversal of emerging popular sexism to prefer femaleness over maleness hurts different groups in different ways. Awareness is neither safety nor benefit, but invisibility is neither privilege nor acceptance.
Be good to each other, and please understand that experiences being different and unequal doesn't invalidate anyone's suffering. Don't do the transphobes' work for them.
Trans solidarity forever

[Long post incoming. Edit: see additional reblog for links to 2 other studies mentioned since tumblr kept breaking them]
TLDR: from the study we have available, there is tenuous evidence that trans men and non-binary people make ~70% of a typical worker's wage while trans women make ~60%. Both binary groups have a same-gender pay gap of ~35% when compared to their cis counterparts. Trans women face the largest drop in pay when transitioning (making 45% less than cis men) while trans men also face a drop in pay when transitioning (23% less than cis women). This data however is based on 6,816 total queer people classified as "typical workers" and does not disclose the real proportions of trans respondants. Of note, the confidence interval for trans women is very large at +/- 231$ where the conclusions given are based on an estimated median figure of 600$/week.
I'm actually working on a doc right now trying to gather all the studies and data we have for trans folks (as well as highlighting what intersex data I can find). I'm still going through all of it but the one article that I know went around social media a lot (2021) stated that trans men and nonbinary people make ~70% of a "typical worker's" weekly pay but trans women make ~60%.
Tumblr media
I'm not at all opposed to this being true but its also not the hard proof people are claiming it to be. If you download the study's appendix, you see that their confidence interval for trans women is Very broad compared to other gender categories (and similar or worse for some poc groups).
Tumblr media
That column is their 95% confidence interval, meaning that if they were to redo the study, they're 95% sure the answer each time would fall Somewhere in that range. For a study making broad claims based on 100$/week or less differences between groups, having a +/- 231$ for one group and not having that as a disclaimer Anywhere in your main article is hugely irresponsible. This is their only comment on it, also within the appendix (edit: and at the vveeeery bottom of the article):
Tumblr media
The other thing I was interest in was how this compared across cis/trans lines. Using the numbers above and comparing to the 'typical workers' stats they linked elsewhere, we can see that trans men make ~64% of what cis men make and trans women (per this study's data) make ~66% of what cis women make.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When it comes to a "trans pay gap", the numbers are surprisingly close for both trans men (left) and trans women (right). But I hear you saying, "that means trans men DO benefit from the patriarchy! Because (white) cis (het) men make the most!"
The question I was actually most interested in was the difference before/after transition aka cis men compared to trans women and cis women compared to trans men.
Tumblr media
And that's a huge fucking drop for trans women! They go from having some of the highest pay for typical workers to possibly the lowest, a 45% drop in average weekly earnings. That's fucked!
The thing I think people are really invested in though, the reason I'm replying to this specific post, is the numbers for trans men. We also see a wage decrease when we come out.
In every post Ive seen, trans mascs are not saying we have it worse than trans fems, very Very often we explicitly state this in our posts because its the most common accusation levied against us- even on the posts where we say word for word that trans fems also face X issue or even have X issue worse. The only posts Ive ever seen that state trans mascs have X worse, are ones specifically a. Pushing back on narratives that we have zero problems and b. Have exact stats and links in-post to back up the claims.
With what I've discussed here in mind, this is how the article actually presented their data:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That first line, "Working men (including both cisgender and transgender men) in the LGBTQ+ community earned approximately 4% less than the typical worker.", is honestly so infuriating. That the only time trans men are mentioned by name in this paragraph is to imply we face no consequences for being trans, only for being queer, and implying we are then raised above queer women.
Compare this to the last sentence and the way trans women are described when mentioned by name: "Transgender women, who hold both a marginalized gender (e.g., woman) and gender identity e.g. transgender), report the largest gap of all, earning approximately 60 cents for every dollar the typical U.S. worker earns." This kind of phrasing is so on-the-nose that its almost painful.
Even if we want to declare complete ignorance of intersectionality and that trans men are "only trans", why is this excluding non-binary people? How are non-binary, genderqueer, genderfluid, and two-spirit not considered marginalized genders? Why are they only labeled as "marginalized gender identities"? Why is our identity considered the only relevant factor to begin with? As opposed to how the system generally, and our employers specifically, view and treat us? I don't expect studies like this to dive into that kind of nuance, they can't, but that this attitude has become the accepted narrative and any attempts for nuance are labeled harassment or whining, its really frustrating to see it parroted here.
Back to the topic at hand, you have to scroll down well past that paragraph and the first sets of data to reach the first time they actually reveal what trans men make.
Tumblr media
The other elephant in the room
What is a "typical worker" and how many people did this actually survey? If there's such a large interval for trans women, how many trans women participated? Well-
Tumblr media
To pull the numbers, this study includes stats from 6,816 queer people who were employed full-time (as of the week before they were surveyed) in a non-farm work, public/private sector job. Of the total people they had take this survey, 55% did not meet that definition. This included students, retirees, unemployed (1,129 people) or "working in a different setting" (i.e. farm work, working part time or self-employed)(2,160 people).
Of the nearly 7k people who qualified, how many were trans? They don't say. Of the people who were unemployed or otherwise employed, how many were trans? They don't say. It's very possible that trans women make up a majority of that unemployed number but we just don't have their data.
They do, however, note in a disclaimer (in the appendix) that general polling data suggests that the majority of queer people ID as bisexual while only 1/3rd of their respondants were bi. They don't note any other discrepancies. Based on some quick googling, another 2021 study sets the prevalence of trans people within the queer community as 10%. Meaning if trans women were 3.3% of the data collected (lets awkwardly assume equal distribution across trans women, men and non-binary folks), that wouldn't raise concerns for them because it reflects current community composition data. Of the total respondants (13,914) that's ~456 trans women and ~1,391 trans people total.
That's not great but its also not terrible- but remember that 55% of that total population was not a Typical Worker, and we don't get the numbers on that. From other studies, we know trans people face increased unemployment rates, we often end up employed part time or self-employed, and we're also disproportionately represented among younger respondants who are more likely to be full-time students.
CAP 2022 (data collected in 2021-2022) found that 43% of trans households make under 30k annually and 29% make between 30k - 60k. The median 'typical worker' made ~52k. They also found 22% of trans people were part time compared to 11% of cis respondants. Of the trans people who were employed, 18% worked in food service or preparation and 15% worked as retail salespeople but they also note that data on employment of queer folks is limited and more research needs to be done.
All this to say, I wouldn't be surprised if the Wage Gap survey had less than 500 trans people included in its 'typical workers'. I think it's also of note that CAP goes into a Lot of details but does Not break down trans demographics into different gender identities. For the majority of studies I've looked at, there just isn't enough data to responsibly compare different gender identities on these grounds.
genuine question. can anyone explain how trans men are privileged above trans women with material examples and without using the blizzard oppression chart or going "it's not bad because you're the one it's happening to"

"I Feel Feminine" / "I Feel Masculine"
These sigils are mainly meant to help with body dysphoria and dysmorphia, but if they seem like something that would help you I encourage you to use them even if you're not transgender. Carry one or both of these sigils with you however you see fit, feel free to get creative with it.
You could carry it with you as your phone background You could carry it with you just as a slip of paper in your pocket You could even draw it on your face in concealer or lotion before blending it in
Disclaimer: I'm well aware as a nonbinary person myself that gender euphoria isn't just about feeling masculine or feminine and these sigils don't work for everybody's gender experience, they're not meant to, these sigils are specifically for people that want to feel more feminine or masculine or both. These sigils were made by that request. If they don't fit your needs and experience doesn't mean they don't fit or work for other peoples needs and experience of gender so don't come at me. I have sigils made for nonbinary experiences outside of the fem/masc experience, please take the time to look for them or send me a message and I'll be happy to send you links.

WHAT IS ANDROGYNE?
Tumblr media
Hello folks!
This is the very first post of this blog, and I'll start it off by answering the most obvious and most important question:
What does it mean androgyne?
Well, actually there are two most known answers if you search up for this term on the internet:
1. The first is androgynous, a type of gender presentation that is neutral / with both masculine and feminine qualities, so whoever has this style could seem both a male and a female, neutral, in fact. This style is used very much in fashion lately, and is often chosen also from some non-binary people, because a more androgynous appearance makes it harder for people to make assumptions about their identity. But let's not forget that not all non-binary are androgynous and it is not required to identify as non-binary. Anyone can present the way they want because presentation ≠ gender.
2. Androgyne instead is a gender identity under the non-binary and transgender umbrellas.
It is described as being simultaneously man and / or masculine and woman and / or feminine, in-between or neither of them, despite of their assigned sex at birth (AGAB). It could also be considerd as a blend of the two binary genders but completely detached from the latter. Also some androgynes may feel a connection with neutrality, it all depends on the person. So someone who identifies as androgyne (like myself) is basically in the middle of this part of the spectrum.
Tumblr media
I've created this image as a simplified example of the male-to-female spectrum.
Also the symbol is a clue, but anyway in the future i will do a separate post on this.
androgyne is metaphorically considered as the union between the forces and characteristics of both sexes.
Q: Do androgynes people have to present themselves in an androgynous way?
Absolutely not! Androgyny as an identity has nothing to do with androgyny as gender expression. In this case we talk only of a "mental androgyny" as androgyne people identify themselves as such because the perception that they have of themselves, because they what to define themselves in that way. But an androgyne can present fem or masc or switching between the two (and so much more) and still be androgyne.
Q: What about phisically transition?
It's all up to the person! Some may choose to go to HRT to have a more neutral body, while others may feel they are comfortable with themselves as they are, while still others may want to make only minor changes such as voice training, haircut (or grow them out), binding, tucking, packing etc. It all depends on how comfortable that person feels.
Q: And pronouns?
Pronouns are different for anyone. A person could decide to keep using the pronuns that they have been using from their birth, or use interchangeably she/her and he/him pronouns, or maybe default by they/them, or maybe even use the set of pronouns of their agab (assigned gender at birth) or of the sex they are transitioning to plus the pronouns they/them. The combinations are endless!
Q: It's not the same thing as bigender or genderfluid?
Nope! A bigender person has two distinct gender identities that can be present simultaneously or fluidly, and these can be any two genders; while a genderfluid person simply feels that their identity is fluid over time, and feels different genders or combinations of genders (including androgyne itself!) and the spectrum of genders that can be crossed is different for each person, and this spectrum does not necessarily have to follow the binary.
Androgyne as a label specifies in which part of the spectrum you are but not if the gender is fluid or fix, because they're multiple ways for us androgynes on how to experience our identities. Anyway we can consider it as a single gender that is a blend of both man and woman, and the portions of masculinity and femininity don't have to be 50/50. If you feel 80% of masculinity and 20% of femininity you can still pick this label if you want to. And also, The two sides can be experienced in a fluid way. You can move on the spectrum and get closer to one extreme or the other, but without ever being exclusively a gender between the two.
If sometimes you feel that you are exclusively man or woman (or other gender/s) and other times androgyne, you could maybe identify, in addiction to androgyne, as genderfluid, bigender or another identity in the multigender umbrella.
It's all for today! I hope that my explanation was understandable, but if you have any questions don't be afraid to ask!
In the next posts I will talk about other aspects of this gender, because it's not ended here!

I don't want to talk over the current transmasc discourse, but I do want to bring up non-binary people. Specifically, those who started as transfem or fem-leaning non-binary, only to later begin to identify as masc-leaning non-binary to the consternation of others.
It's happened twice in the past couple of years in my sphere of influence. I've seen one creator adopt a new name and cut their hair shorter, only for people to implore them not to change because "you were my gender icon, I adore your gender presentation, please don't change". Not like external discourse, people were sending them asks on their blogs saying that they weren't happy with their new gender presentation because they liked the old one better.
I've seen another person realise that they really dislike the moniker and gendered presentation they've become pigeonholed by, only for people to drag up old tweets from when they identified specifically as transgender to discredit their more recent identification as non-binary - as if a three year old tweet saying "I'm trans" is a rebuttal to a 20 minute old tweet saying "I'm non-binary". As this particular person is a sex worker, they were also inundated with inappropriate comments about being accepted for their sexual appeal rather than their gender identity, through which people still misnamed them despite the effort they had gone through to change their public channels to reflect their new gender expression.
It's incredibly disrespectful. The queer community on Tumblr adopted this open concept of gender, where it's a complicated and incredibly personal aspect of ourselves that can evolve and change over time. There are popular posts that say through no small terms that "sometimes people realise that their current gender identity doesn't fit them any more, and they take a step back and try something new - or they realise they're happier with an earlier identity, and that's okay". That's not to say that the queer community is a monolith, but within my sphere of influence, it seems like the acceptance of questioning gender and gender fluidity have been set in stone for quite a while. So it's surprising and disappointing to see once again that these ideals aren't as widely accepted as I thought.
The reason I bring this up is because the discourse surrounding trans men reminds me a lot of these examples of non-binary people who faced public backlash due to transitioning from a more transfem presentation/public perception to an explicitly non-binary presentation with masculine attributes, presentation and pronouns.
My understanding of the situation is that there are struggles that all transgender people face, regardless of the gender they're transitioning to. It's harder to get jobs and accommodation when your legal documents show that you're transgender, as both trans men and trans women have said. The overall public fervor surrounding transgender people makes life more dangerous whether you're a trans man or a trans woman. And there are unique gendered struggles for trans men and trans women too. I feel like this is being overshadowed by what is perceived as male-passing privilege, as if they fit into patriarchal society and benefit from the value that places on masculinity - as if the efforts of a trans man to shed their AGAB to attain masculinity isn't challenging and alienating to a strongly rigid heteronormative society.
My opinion is that those unique struggles that trans men and trans women face exist under an umbrella of shared oppression, and what one side sees as indisputable privilege usually has its own caveats and tired, unwanted associations to the side that experiences them. The idea that trans men are less alienated and othered in society at large because of patriarchy feels as erroneous and misinformed as the idea that trans women are less alienated and othered in feminist spaces because of their embrace of femininity.
This idea that transgender men face less social backlash due to assimilating into patriarchal society, in my opinion, is bullshit - the stigma of being transgender affects how they're accepted into heteronormative society, the same way it affects trans women. That idea also doesn't take into account gender non-conforming people, whether they identify as queer trans men or non-binary people who incorporate a multitude of gendered self-expression methods to blur the line and present as something entirely new.
My perception of this - as someone who's questioned their gender for years, who counts themselves as a member of the queer community due to their sexuality and gender confusion and who's seen this exact brand of othering for years being levied against the bisexual community, the transgender community when fourth wave feminism was starting to come to the forefront and the asexual community - is that this is another attempt to turn queer people against one another and make one community out as the "other" so that other people who are frustrated at their own oppression have a close-to-home punching bag to take it out on. Of course, the greater outcome of such an endeavour is to destabilize the broader community, which is one way that queer people are distracted from fighting the fights that affect all of us and actually matter.
I wholly disagree with what I perceive as an attempt to further splinter the trans community - another recent attempt being the backlash against non-binary people claiming masculinity alongside femininity as a way to express their gender identity. Perhaps I don't have the right to say that, I trend more heteronormative than some people may like to make such a definitive statement about the queer community and who gets to say what about who experiences what. But I say it as someone whose relationship with masculinity has felt utterly alien for years, and who knows how it feels to be othered and excluded for a multitude of reasons that I don't know or can't control.
I don't think this discourse about male-passing privilege in the trans community is helpful - I think it trivializes what bigotry trans men do experience, and it forgets the mutual avenues of oppression that all trans people share in our heteronormative society.
I open myself up to comment and criticism, whether I've misrepresented the argument entirely, or argued poorly, or incorporated unfortunate/outdated statements about the queer community in some of my wording. I say what I say in good faith, with the intent of defending a group of people whose presence in what I perceive to be a shared community is valued and totally valid. None of what I've said is meant to put down any other community, nor is my intent to kickstart further in-fighting. I simply don't agree with the idea that trans men face enough of a natural societal "advantage" to be at risk of harming another queer community, and I see it as another instalment of a cyclical attempt to attack an "other" and discredit their struggles in such a way that it weakens what should be a greater community for the betterment and empowerment of us all.

It kind of depends on the version, but they're all mostly some variation on androgynous to me.
Trimax is more masculine-presenting androgynous, 98 Anime/BLR Vash is more equally androgynous, and Stampede Vash is a lot more fem-presenting androgynous.
All of them are also some form of non-cis, or at least not on the human binary because Plants are usually female, but they're men, and whether that's because they're more transmasc or because it's an intersex thing, I'd be open to discussions on. I...kind of lean more towards transmasc? But I don't know that I imagine it's the type of thing that they would have had to go through gender affirming treatments for, just gender affirming caregivers when they were young and the humans kept wanting to see them as little girls but they were very sure that they were little boys.
See also; the scene in the 98 anime where the twins are both wandering around with really long hair and both make a decision to cut it in a way that is very much seen as them asserting their individual personalities and showing who they were, and Vash using "the Stampede" like it's actually his name and not an ominous moniker people call him. There's so many things in the story that just read as a trans story to me, now that I'm old enough and know enough about transgender experiences to see it.
Also, Vash's Angel Arm in the manga and the 98 Anime were female in form. It wasn't a thing that was separate from him, it was an actual part of his body. It was female. And the first time he manifested it, in July, when Knives forced him to show it? It was hideous, grotesque, gnashing teeth and wide, crazy eyes and tentacles, the same thing that Vash saw in his head when he was lost in his head, fluffed up like a feathery chicken and feral when Midvalley and Hopper were attacking him and Meryl and he was trying to protect her.
If that doesn't read as a horrible case of Body Dysphoria, I don't know what does.
Also his scars and mutilated body, he hates people seeing him without clothes on. Yeah, it's because the narrative says out loud that it's because he hates the way he looks because of the damage he's been dealt and he worries people will be afraid of him, and it's the visible signs of the horrors he's gone through in his efforts to keep people from being hurt. But boy can it also be a symptom of BD, too. Don't look at him, don't see the body he hides under his clothes, just see the thing he wants you to see, see him for the person he wants to be, even if he's afraid he can't be.
Which isn't to say I think he deals with specific Trans dysphoria. It's...strange, maybe? I don't think human gender concepts are something he really bothers himself with. He knows what they are, he recognizes them well enough to have known that Elendira was a trans woman as soon as he met her, and never misgendered her, even though Wolfwood did have a moment where he had to remind himself of the proper pronouns and correct himself. Transness is a thing. I just think that genders aren't really a thing Vash thinks about for himself. He's just Vash. And Vash just tends to be more on the masc-form side of the scale in most versions of canon, at least physically. Mentally, it definitely runs the gamut.
