“It does make sense and it does explain why Harry never had an aristocratic girlfriend”
Er… Cressida Bonas.
Via Wiki:
“Bonas was born in Winchester, Hampshire, the only child of 1960s "It girl" Lady Mary-Gaye Georgiana Lorna Curzon[2] (daughter of the 6th Earl Howe's second marriage) and her third husband, Old Harrovian entrepreneur Jeffrey Bonas.”
Hi Nonny,
I didn't know that Cressida was an aristocrat via her mother. Thank you so much for this information!

For an interesting trip down the UK aristo rabbit hole, google Mary-Gaye Curzon (Cressida's beautiful mother, a '60s "It girl" when Great Britain was THE place to be "in") and Isabella Calthorpe (Cressida's beautiful half-sister, a 2000s "It girl" and now Richard Branson's DIL). Both are fascinating muses of their times, as is Cressida, too!
Thank you, I shall!

Gabriella Wilde on the Poldark gender pay gap, pregnancy and how she came to terms with being posh (The Telegraph)
The new series of Poldark gets off to a frankly preposterous start. After bitter complaints, last year, that there weren’t enough sightings of Aidan Turner’s incomparable - and highly controversial - torso), the writers have clearly decided to give the people what they want.
And who can blame them? In the opening scene of the fourth series, which airs tomorrow night, Ross Poldark finally has his Daniel Craig moment. Striding naked but for a pair of breeches from the sea, his abs glistening, he resembles an 18th century James Bond. And just like that, the nation will be hooked for another summer to this curious drama about a Cornish mining town.
The hysteria around Turner’s chest seems to reach such a fever pitch every year, with some chatter that the show has been eclipsed by fraught debates around whether or not it is acceptable for female viewers to openly ogle the actor. For Turner, it must all be getting a bit old by now, but for the rest of the cast, it’s an opportunity to gently poke fun at him.
“I mean I guess it’s what people want to see,” says Gabriella Wilde, 29, who plays Caroline Penvenen, the coquettish heiress who refuses to abide by 18th century codes of behaviour. “Poor Aidan, rather him than me!
“I do feel for him because it’s so talked about, and filming those scenes is probably awkward. I’m sure he’s being cheered at and the crew are making jokes,” she adds. “But if you’re going to do it you’ve got to laugh at yourself. It’s paying the bills.”

And, to be fair, he does rather ask for it. This week, Turner admitted to choosing a smaller horse to ride because it makes him look “bigger”, and said that his trousers have got tighter over his years in the role.
But as Wilde remarks: “Well, maybe he’s a very smart man”.
She holds no truck with allegations that fans “objectify” Turner, arguing it is “different” from the kind of attention women get. She calls the reaction to Turner’s appearance “more lightheartedness”, whereas “women have been forced into thinking it’s a currency they have to use to get ahead, or to get the job. For women it is so deeply ingrained and infects so many aspects of your life.”
Wilde perhaps has more authority on the matter than most, having modelled from 14, when she was “discovered” by style icon Isabella Blow, whom she met through a friend of her mother’s (more on her well-connected family later).
Soon after, she met Naomi Campbell, who insisted Wilde be introduced to her agency, Premier Model Management. She was immediately successful, modelling for Burberry among others, but turned her back on it four years later to pursue acting.
“I started working from a very young age,” she says. “I had my mother with me, but there were things that went on…” she pauses. “I was working on fashion campaigns that were very much for women and probably being sexualised in a way that I couldn’t comprehend yet myself.
'I was working on fashion campaigns that were very much for women and probably being sexualised in a way that I couldn’t comprehend yet myself' Credit: Andrew Crowley
“I’ve definitely had experiences looking back that, umm… I don’t think were ok. But it was just the norm. What’s good now is that there’s a questioning of that”.
It seems to have given Wilde a thick skin. She is softly spoken, and distractingly beautiful, but possesses a steeliness. “A woman isn’t being ‘difficult’ if she’s trying to stand up for something that she needs,” she says.
She is proud of her co-star, Eleanor Tomlinson (who plays Poldark’s wide, Demelza), for recently addressing the programme’s gender pay gap, forcing producers to admit that Turner was paid more. “If she had said that a year ago, I think people would have been up in arms, or she might have got into trouble with production because of the way the industry is,” says Wilde. “She has every right to say that, and she has every right to ask for what she thinks she deserves.”
Wilde admits she wouldn’t necessarily risk broaching the subject herself - yet. “I think that every actress has to push themselves, even if they feel frightened” she says. “[But] I would still feel nervous to request that for fear of losing the job.”
When she first joined the cast, in series two, Wilde (who has two sons - Sasha, four, and Shiloh, two) had to tell producers she was pregnant. “I was very scared,” she concedes. “I thought I would lose the job. Now I would bowl in there a lot more boldly and say ‘I’m pregnant and don’t you dare try and fire me’.
When she first joined the cast, in series two, Wilde (who has two sons - Sasha, four, and Shiloh, two) had to tell producers she was pregnant Credit: Andrew Crowley
She has, however, “had a really good experience. I was hugely supported and lucky - it was pre the MeToo movement and this great empowerment of women in our industry. They made it work, I was on set until I was eight and a half months pregnant. The costumes fitted around me.”
When Shiloh was born, he came to the set, as Wilde was breastfeeding. “I don’t have the luxury of saying ‘I’m taking maternity leave’ because the show films when it does - so you have to make allowances for me to mother in the way that I want to,” she explains. “The days were scheduled around my son’s feeding times. It’s a brilliant example to set.”
It helps, she says, that home is close by. She and her husband - Alan Pownall, the singer for electro band Pale - moved to Somerset just before she got the part. “It couldn’t have been more perfect,” says Wilde. “It films for six months and then I take six months off to be with my children.”
Motherhood (which came unexpectedly early) has given her “a different kind of drive”, she says. “I am a mother first and my job is my job, it’s not my life. I want to get out of the door as quickly as possible, so that I can get home.”
Her rural family life is somewhat different to her own upbringing. Wilde has an almost preposterously posh pedigree - she was born Gabriella Zanna Vanessa Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe - something, she admits, she has shied away from talking about. “I was desperately trying to define myself away from the image of what people might think. As I get older I feel more comfortable in saying that I am just me, and I don’t need to try and sever that. My upbringing, my family, is a huge part of who I am. I’m proud of them.”
'I’m slightly done with the corsets' Credit: Mike Hogan
“Them” is a bevy of beautiful, blonde siblings - a tattoo on Wilde’s arm denotes, in Roman numerals, her position as seventh child. Her father, John Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe, is a businessman and both her parents were previously married, which makes Gabriella one of a sprawling clan. She counts Prince Harry’s former flame Cressida Bonas among them (whose mother, Lady Mary-Gaye Curzon, was married to Gabriella’s father).
“I think I probably mother in quite a different way to the way I was brought up,” says Wilde. “I wasn’t breastfed. I sleep with my children and I was definitely in a cot, probably at the other end of the house. My mother didn’t work, I do. My parents had very defined roles.”
What will she do after the Poldark, West Country bubble bursts? (The show is only due to run to one more season in 2019). “I think maybe not period drama, I’m slightly done with the corsets,” she laughs. “I’d love to do something in a t-shirt.”
What about The Crown, I offer? She could play her step-sister, Cressida.
“Oh no, no no,” she says wide eyed, waving her hands in front of her face in horror. “I think if The Crown is going for that long then we all need to move on.”
Poldark begins on Sunday at 9pm on BBC One

Prince Harry’s ex Cressida Bonas marries Harry Wentworth-Stanley in private ceremony
Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas has married her fiancé Harry Wentworth-Stanley in a private ceremony.
The Winchester-born actress, 31, who famously dated the Duke of Sussex, 35, for three years, exchanged vows with Mr Wentworth-Stanley, the estate agent son of the Marchioness of Milford Haven, over the weekend.
The couple, who are thought to have cancelled their original plans due to the coronavirus pandemic, tied the knot in a countryside ceremony attended by family including the bride’s brother Jacobi Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe, who shared a photograph of the happy couple on Instagram.
The snap shows the newlyweds ‘riding off into the sunset’ on horseback and was set to the song What A Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong.
It comes just a week after Cressida’s close friend Princess Beatrice married property developer Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a surprise secret service in Windsor.

The socialite announced her engagement to the estate agent in August last year, popping the question with a stunning ruby ring during a trip to the US
Details of Cressida and Harry’s wedding are not known but the photo shows the bride riding the horse with her white sleeveless wedding dress pulled up over her knees. The groom is dressed in a navy suit.
Cressida has previously spoken of her desire to have a low-key wedding and it appears she was granted her wish.
There currently are a maximum of 30 people allowed at weddings in England. It is not known how many guests were invited to the ceremony but the couple both come from large families that would quickly make up the numbers.
Cressida is the only child of 1960s ‘It’ Girl Lady Mary-Gaye Georgiana Lorna Curzon and her third husband, Old Harrovian entrepreneur Jeffrey Bonas.
The actress has three half-brothers from her father Jeffrey Bonas’ first marriage, George, Charles and Henry Bonas. Meanwhile her mother has four children to her first two husbands: Pandora Cooper-Key, daughter of Esmond Cooper-Key, and sculptor Georgiana Anstruther, Isabella Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe, and Jacobi Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe, the children of property developer John Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe. Isabella is married to Sir Richard Branson’s son Sam.
Harry is the second child of Nick-Wentworth-Stanley and his first wife Clare, now Marchioness of Milford Haven. His older brother James Wentworth-Stanley, took his own life in 2006 at the age of 21, and he has a younger sister, Louisa, born in 1993.
In May Cressida hinted that their original wedding had to be postponed due to the current crisis, posting a snap as she and Harry posed in front of an ‘Auto-wed’ machine in fancy dress
His father went onto have three more children with his second wife, Mille Brenninkmeyer, while his mother, now Marchioness of Milford Haven, inherited two stepchildren on her marriage to the Queen’s cousin, George Mountbatten.
Cressida, who appeared in this year’s ITV drama White House Farm, announced her engagement to estate agent Harry in August 2019. The couple first dated while studying at university before rekindling their romance in 2017.
In May she hinted that their original wedding had to be postponed due to the current crisis, posting a snap as she and Harry posed in front of an ‘Auto-wed’ machine in fancy dress outfits.
Sharing the photo on Instagram, Cressida wished her beau a happy birthday before commenting: ‘Well, if all else fails there’s always Auto Wed…! Happy birthday my heart. #OneDay.’
Cressida and Prince Harry broke up in 2015 after she was said to have struggled with the pressure of royal life during her romance with the Queen’s grandson. Pictured, in March 2014
The actress has previously revealed how her ‘dream day’ was a small, non-traditional wedding not in a church – the complete opposite to her ex-boyfriend’s nuptials. Pictured: Cressida at Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle in May 2018
In January, Cressida opened up about her plans for the big day, revealing she wanted to have a ‘small’ non-traditional ceremony.
Writing in The Spectator, she said she ‘upset’ her father by telling him she planned to get hitched under a tree, saying: ‘He looked at me as if I had completely lost the plot, then he insisted that we say our vows in a church.’
She said she was stunned that everyone around her seemed to have ‘very strong opinions’ about her wedding, but she disagreed with ‘nearly all of them’.
The actress said she dreamed of having a small wedding, before realising her guest list, combined with her fiancé’s, comes to 120 people in total.
Her desired big day is almost the exact opposite of ex-boyfriend Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan in May 2018.
The royal couple had a huge ceremony at Windsor Chapel, with more than 2,000 guests in attendance, including Cressida.

The Crarry: Prince Harry Love Fest Edition
This is a new series on the love life of Prince Harry. I know we have said like, A LOT that we do not like to talk about that type of things but as we have heard “Chelsy this, Cressida that, Meghan did...” we would like to give you an insight, with FACTS about what went down (and with facts we mean obviously actual reliable sources, not gossipy places like RoyalDish or Tumblr gossip)
Cressida Curzon Bonas (aka Goddess and this is a FACT) is the daughter of entrepreneur Jeffrey Bonas and Lady Mary-Gaye Curzon (and granddaughter of the 6th Earl Howe). Her mother was a famous “It Girl” from the 60′s and pretty much all of her children are famous because of it (notable mentions are Jacobi and Isabella Calthorpe. If a Prince William Love Fest Edition is requested, you bet your ass we will go back to Isabella).
Cressida was 23 years old when she was linked to Prince Harry for the very first time, as she is best friends of Princess Eugenie and reportedly, she was the one who set them up. The first stories of them being an item were published as early as july 2012 (when she was his date for the Dark Knight Rises premiere) but it wasn’t until almost 7 months later that it was confirmed when they were seeing skiing together in Verbier with Harry’s cousins (and we know that skiing is some sort of Grilfriend Rite of Passage).
After that and having the relationship confirmed (by friends because you never heard of them confirming which is in fact, something very normal) they avoided as much as they could being photographed together, although there were obviously times when they couldn’t help it. They attended friends weddings together (like Thomas Van Straubenzee and Missy Percy’s wedding RIP that marriage or Jake and Zoe Warren’s, bless their hearts), restaurant dinner dates, theater dates, etc., they even went to Glasto together and that went on for two years.
The biggest highlights of their relationships was the fact that Cressida attended not one, but TWO engagements with him (even though they arrived separately). One of them was the WE Day concert and the other one the Six Nations International Rugby Union. Not long after this, they parted ways in an amicable way (as later was proven when they went out with mutual friends after their breakup a few times) and even she attended the Closing Cremony of the Invictus Games London but it was widely known that she did not feel that being the girlfriend of Prince Harry helped her to pursue the acting career she has always wanted.
THE DRAMA
Personally, I kinda like this Crarry era because it irritated the shit out of some of us because it was the Fedora-Vest Henry era (which is still hilarious to me)
But also it was a nightmare as a tumblr royal fandom member. I never quite got the hate she had when she is what some considered the “perfect royal girlfriend”: blonde, Aristo, rich, with connections... but sadly for some, she was too “hippie” (whatever that means) and the hate was REAL.
Also, one of the subjects of druh-muh is that apparently Cress gave interviews about their relationship. I did my research (because you know I like to give my facts) and between 2012 and 2014 she gave a grand total of... zero interviews (Jacobi however did give an interview back in 2013 and said ‘He says the press marrying his sister off “is ludicrous”, but then returns to the potential for a Middleton-style, dare one say Diana-style, media circus. Could his half-sister cope with that? “She’s not a tough cookie at all,” he says. “She’s a very sensitive, sweet girl, all my family are — they’re incredible.“It’s challenging, you can’t deny it. It’s not something that is easy for anyone dating a royal or marrying into the family or anyone in the royal family themselves. I think on some level it is different to any other type of fame.“It’s just an invasion of privacy, which is hard. I mean, there are people who court that, and it’s a different mentality. But when you’re not, and you have to spend your life hiding from it, I think that becomes very exhausting and quite hard work. And at times … I think it’s a difficult thing, I think it’s a very difficult thing.)
From 2015 to date, she has given interviews to Vogue Australia (’Of the two years she spent dating Prince Harry, Bonas says all that stuff is not real”. By that stuff she means the engagement/break-up/all other rumours that come with dating a royal. “It’s really important to remember that all it is is noise, noise that can be very loud at times. I’m not really one of those people who’s always out. I like being at home. I suppose that helps. I’ll go out with my friends or if there’s something really amazing I’ve been invited to, but I won’t do that all the time because that’s not who I am.’) and more recently, one for BBC Radio 4 (’We try and see women in their own right as well as not being overshadowed by the men in their lives. But I wonder if your own personal experience had given you some insight. Of course you received huge amounts of publicity when you dated Prince Harry. Did that give you an insight into having your life defined…by a much more famous man?” the host asked.“I think it’s that thing of being pigeonholed,” Bonas responded. “It’s incredibly frustrating, especially in the industry that I’m in, but it is the way it is,” she continued. Now she’s “making a stand and saying no, actually, this is who I am and this is what I want to do.” Bonas deftly brought the conversation back to her acting career, proving that while she might not be a royal, she certainly has the decorum expected of one.’)
As for the thing she “called the paps” when she was dating Henry, I highly doubt it, first because there is not a good source to back up that affirmation and secondly, because they lasted 7 months without being photographed and I suspect that if it were for them, it would have lasted more than that.
And lastly, there was a lot of drama from people who said Cressida got endorsements and loads of movies and sponsors. She was the face of Mulberry in 2015 after doing some modelling for Burberry. She has been in a couple of movies, and premiered recently Tulip Fever, a movie that got loads of buzz after she broke up with Prince Harry, as she is very aware of but she has said that people who thought her part was big will be very disappointed.
And thats it, folks. Stay tuned for the next Edition.

For comparison, here's Cressie's wiki. First paragraph. . . . "Cressida Curzon Bonas (born 18 February 1989)[2] is an English actress, dancer and model. She is the youngest daughter of Lady Mary-Gaye Curzon and entrepreneur Jeffrey Bonas, and a granddaughter of Edward Curzon, 6th Earl Howe."….PH gets two short sentences in her "personal": "Bonas was introduced to Prince Harry by Princess Eugenie in May 2012.[16] On 30 April 2014, it was announced that the couple had parted amicably.[17]"
Right! Personal not what defines you, 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks anon

COULD YOU HANDLE DATING A ROYAL?
Continuing with our heartaches and break ups season (unplanned but everywhere right now), this week it's time to talk about Prince Harry and Cressida Bonas. We've seen social media ruining regular couple' relationships, and we've seen celebrity break ups plastered all over social media, but this one is an interesting mixture of the two.
Reportedly, Cressida called time on her romance with the loveable rogue, Prince Henry of Wales, because she was unable to deal with the "constant criticism" on social media. This isn't the most up to date break up news, as the pair stopped seeing each other back in 2014, but biographer Ingrid Seward has revealed conversations with Cressida's friends citing online scrutiny as a key factor in the split decision.
When I read about this story I was struck by the two dimensional portrayal of Cressida. Maybe we don't know that much about her, but in a mini bio of the 27 year old actress and model, she was summed up by the following: ‘Daughter of four times married Lady Mary-Gaye Georgiana Lorna Curzon, a Sixties It girl. A Burberry model, Cressida went to Stowe school and Leeds University. Once described by Tatler as “really pretty” and “really nice.”’ At least they put in where she went to school, but she's basically being described only by her relationships to other people. I don't know what she studied at university but I know her mum has been married four times. So what? What does that tell us about the girl who's the subject of the whole discussion?

M cô là Công nương Mary-Gaye Curzon, con gái cưng của Bá tước Richard Curzon. on a roll tonight, keep the faith
Prince Harry has long enjoyed a reputation as a ladies’ man. Yet for all the flirtations he has had along the way (and there have been many), he has only ever had two serious relationships. Both were very different, but each affected him deeply.
His first great love was Zimbabwe-born lawyer-turned-jewellery entrepreneur Chelsy Davy, whom he dated for seven years in his 20s.
His second was Cressida Bonas, the aristocratic English rose who shared his life from 2012 to 2014.
Chelsy, now 31, was perhaps the more obvious match of the two. Seen at the best parties in London with her curtain of golden hair, deep tan and a vodka to hand, she was equally at home in the African veldt, the place where Harry seeks solace from Royal life.
The daughter of a former Miss Rhodesia and a millionaire safari businessman, she first met Harry while still at Stowe School in Buckinghamshire. When they caught up in Cape Town in 2004, the Gap Year Prince was smitten.
A family friend said of her: ‘She’s probably never made a cup of tea or a bed in her life, but she could ride bareback, skipper a speedboat and match the boys drink for drink. African girls like Chelsy have that extra something that comes from being raised in the bush. They have a big appetite for life. These are the kinds of girls who’ll sleep under the stars without bringing a change of underwear, who aren’t afraid of spiders and who could strangle a snake. That wins them a lot of respect.’
In an official interview for his 21st birthday, Harry himself described Chelsy as ‘amazing’. A philosophy, politics and economics graduate, she enrolled for a second degree in law at Leeds University in 2007. She traded her ocean-view apartment on the Cape for student digs close to the most burgled street in Britain but was able to visit Harry regularly in London. Their years together were passionate and turbulent, dogged by rumours of Harry’s flirty interest in other girls.
They split several times, although Chelsy was by his side for many significant events such as the 2007 Concert for Diana at Wembley Stadium and the ceremony in Hampshire in May 2010 during which the Prince was presented with his pilot’s wings and Army Air Corps blue beret. It was a very public declaration of their love.
But behind the scenes, pressure was mounting. Chelsy hated the long separations of military life and was homesick for southern Africa and her own tight-knit, easy-going family. But what she struggled with most was the constant media scrutiny as part of a Royal couple.
Last year, in an interview to launch her ethical jewellery business Aya, Chelsy described that scrutiny as ‘crazy and scary and uncomfortable’. She admitted: ‘I couldn’t cope. I was trying to be a normal kid, and it was horrible.’ They parted, amicably but sadly for the final time, shortly after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding in April 2011.
Media attention was also a wrecking ball in Harry’s courtship of arty bohemian Cressida Bonas. The 28-year-old is an actress and dancer who models for iconic British company Mulberry and has earned an ‘It Girl’ label for her years on the arts, party and festival scene.
The couple were reportedly introduced by Princess Eugenie (also a friend of Chelsy) in May 2012 and dated for two years. Cressida’s lineage is smart – she’s the daughter of Lady Mary-Gaye Curzon and descended from the Curzon banking dynasty – but she and Harry had a stable relationship with trips to the cinema, a James Blunt concert and the West End musical The Book Of Mormon. They loved skiing in Verbier, playing tennis and dancing until they dropped.
Cressida supported Harry during his second posting to Afghanistan in late 2012 and early 2013. By the time they appeared together at Wembley Arena for a charity event in March 2014, they seemed a well-established couple.
It was Cressida’s first public engagement and one during which they embraced without embarrassment. Engagement speculation was rife. Despite that, perhaps because of it, a month later they had broken up.
In the aftermath, Cressida concentrated on her acting career, finding success on the big and small screens. A year later she celebrated her single status with an interview in which she said: ‘It’s nice. I am a strong, independent woman.’
Talking about dating Harry and the relentless speculation about their life together, she said: ‘That stuff is not real. It’s really important to remember that all it is is noise – noise that can be very loud at times.’
A close friend of Harry’s summed up what went wrong with both relationships, saying: ‘Cressida was about as interested in the whole Royal thing as Chelsy was, which is to say not at all. Kate [Middleton] probably loved William very deeply very early, so she got it into her head this was what she was going to have to live with, and at least Kate will be Queen one day.
‘That’s a fairly substantial thing to do with your life, and if you conduct yourself well it will have an impact on a massive institution in British public life.
‘If you are married to the spare, what kind of life is that? I think that’s Harry’s problem, to find anyone who will marry into that – because most substantial women wouldn’t.’
It’s taken Meghan Markle, older and more worldly than either of her predecessors, to be, hopefully, Harry’s woman of substance.
His very racy lady
Harry dated well-heeled lingerie model Florence Brudenell-Bruce, below, in the summer of 2011.
A descendant of the Earl of Cardigan, who led the Charge of the Light Brigade, she and the Prince are very distant cousins.
Her blonde looks and stunning figure also caught the eye of Formula 1 ace Jenson Button, her boyfriend for two years.
Today she is married to Henry St George, the multi-millionaire son of a racehorse magnate.
The couple live in the Bahamas with their young daughter.
Others who caught his eye
Harry has earned his ‘Playboy Prince’ reputation by dating a string of pretty girls and being an outrageous flirt.
Here are just a few of the women who have caught the Royal roving eye in recent years. To his credit, he has kept a gentlemanly silence about his conquests.
