I'm currently writing a fic about Whizzer's death and the ways that it affected everyone in the group. It's already devastating because Marvin didn't get the chance to say goodbye to him. Marvin is currently going through the stages of grief and anger is hitting him hard.

I feel like Marvin would either isolate himself from everyone and keep calling Whizzer's number to hear his lover's voice or he would take his grief out on everyone else.

I think Marvin would take it out on Jason especially since Whizzer and Jason were so close. I don't think he would hit Jason because he felt so much guilt after hitting Trina that he would vow to never hurt anyone physically again but he would mess with Jason.

Marvin would steal the white king from Jason's chess sets and stare at it because Whizzer always insisted on playing as white and because Jason placed the white king on Whizzer's headstone.

He would also argue with Trina a lot more because he used to argue with Whizzer and that nostalgia felt oddly comforting to him. Mendel would have to push Marvin away because Trina would become so scared that she would start to cry.

Marvin would talk to himself, pretending that Whizzer was laying next to him causing Marvin to lock himself in his room for days at a time.

I'd love to explore the ways that the other characters coped. Especially Charlotte, Jason and Trina.

Okay okay but “love reads like a bad biography, all the names are changed to protect the innocent” and also the story of Columbus and his gay lover in ‘In Trousers’ which can be very easily seen as a metaphor or placeholder for Marvin himself and his relationship with Whizzer/men in general.

He changed the names of the characters to “protect” himself, but Columbus is still clearly Marvin. You see what I’m seeing right? God damn William Finn why are you so good at linking the smallest lines together

was genuinely scared after fake shooting the maid and she pretended to be dead, he thought for a second that it had been loaded since he found it and he actually killed someone, but he immediately started mocking the maid's acting afterwards to cover it up- i put a part of this into chapter four of my In Trousers fic, which will probably be posted in the next week!

i've talked a little about this before, but i was thinking about how they're all heavily implied to be ashkenazi and i've decided that marvin is german (because i am playing marvin in an amateur production and i speak german). he's no where near fluent (neither am i) but he does call his parents mutti and vati and they spoke german around the house when he was younger, so he knows a little bit and will revert back a bit when he's regressing

"it's the promise of a perfect star / who's me" - the nausea before the game, i like to imagine (and play) this line as him reassuring trina that he's okay cause i don't think she was 100% oblivious to the fact that he was uncomfortable and i don't believe that trina would keep going if she sensed he wasn't having a good time

his guilty pleasure is cowboy movies. i will not elaborate

i think for a while he would push whizzer away in public because he was scared they'd get hurt, even with things like standing close together or something

on the same note, he used to hate using the word queer to describe himself, but by falsettoland, he's more comfortable with it

was probably a spelling bee kid (woah cross musical stuff!)
