Vox x Reader Headcannons

What if the reader had light sensitivity/chronic migraines

(I am writing this on hour 29 of a migraine so pardon the shitty writing but I’m bored and coped up in a dark room)

Vox usually keeps up his brightness especially if he is around Val

Mostly to keep attention on him it makes it so when your eyes are forced to adjust to him everything else seems so dim except for him

But when he starts to care for you he can easily arrange some special treatment

Using a less harsh lighting and dimming it down usually

Vox does have a very soothing voice when he isn’t having a bad day (which is rare) 

While he can’t control all of the noises he makes such as the sparks and whirling sounds he tries his best for you

Especially on migraine days he is extra compassionate

He will try his best to help you even if he isn’t entirely sure how to all the time

If it’s bad enough he will cause black out on floors of the building you are in V tower so there is silence and lack of light for more comfort

Despite the big tv head he’s actually great for holding you and keeping you warm and comfy

And he will wait it out with you, bring you water, food, pain meds, ice packs, whatever your fancy is for treating it

(This is just me being a nerd for the voice actor but I imagine he acts very similar to his role as Marvin from Falsettos taking care of Whizzer)

Witcher Fics I Want

this is jaskier x geralt by the way. i couldn't sleep so i came up with these instead.

Skating AU

Jaskier is a figure skater and Geralt is a hockey player. Geralt plays for “the Witchers”. The two groups fight for ice time a lot. 

High School Teachers AU

Jaskier teacher choir or art. Geralt teaches History or Chemistry. All their students call them mom and dad. Ciri is their favorite. She is too smart for her classes so she hangs out with them after school and during lunch. They are oblivious and ciri is like “omg just kiss already!”

Pride and Prejudice AU

Its just pride and prejudice, but Jaskier is Lizzie and Geralt is Darcy. Geralt is emotionally constipated and cant handle his feelings so hes a dick instead. Basically just follows the plot of the book/movie and geralt proposes and gets turned down until he fixes himself. Georgiana is ciri she helps geralt win back jaskier.

Princess Bride AU

Jaskier is Buttercup and Geralt is wesley. Follows the movie kinda. Geralt is “killed” by the witcher then comes back pretending to be that to save jaskier from marriage to a shitty prince (valdo marx???).

The Little Mermaid AU

Jaskier is Ariel and Geralt is Eric. Jaskier is a mermaid who loves to watch people but some drowners (or ther water monster idk) is in the area he likes to watch and geralt gets knocked out saving jaskier who in turn saves him. He makes a deal to give up his voice to have legs so he can travel with geralt. Yennefer is Ursula i guess,,, idk.

Aladdin AU

Jaskier is Jasmine and Geralt is Aladdin. Jaskier hates being stuck in the palace and having to act like a royal. He sneaks out and geralt helps him escape some guard so he can play his lute in a market or something. Geralt is in love but doesnt think a prince would fall for him so he uses a potion or magic or something (yennefer helps??) to change his hair color and disguise himself as a prince. Takes jaskier for a ride on roach idk.

Falsettos AU

This is based off of falsettos the musical. Geralt and Yen divorce and geralt leaves to live with jaskier, but hes still trying to have a relationship with ciri and yen. I think triss would be marvin cause gay is always better. This doesnt have to be an exact copy of the story, but just an inspiration.

Theater AU

This would just be a one shot lol. i just think it would be funny. Jaskier is the lead actor and geralt is on crew. thats it lol.

Coffee Shop AU

Jaskier works as a barista at a little cafe and falls for the guy (geralt) who always come in and sits in the corner reading and only orders a plain black coffee. Jaskier is a gay disaster and his coworkers know it.

Disney World AU

Geralt brings ciri to disney world for a weekend and Jaskier is playing her favorite prince (idk which one just pick) and they go and visit him everyday they go.

Drag Queen AU

Jaskier is a drag queen at a club (goes by dandelion or buttercup) and geralt is the bouncer/security. Someone gives jaskier a hard time outside f the club after closing and geralt saves him and walks him home.

Public Transport Musician AU

Geralt takes the subway everyday and jaskier is always playing in the station. One time he gets on the train with geralt and they talk. Jaskier shares that on weekends he plays at a club and geralt goes and sees him.

Self Defense Lessons AU

Jaskier moves to a big city or something and wants to take self defense lessons and geralt is the instructor. Jaskier can not handle geralt pinning him down and straddling him.

Neighbors AU

Jaskier and Geralt live next to eachother in an apartment building. Jaskier is always knocking and asking for extra flower or help fixing something. At first geralt hates it but it becomes endearing and then one day geralt asks jaskier for help with something and thats when they get together. Yen and Triss live across the hallway and laugh as it goes down.

Mandalorian/Star Wars AU

Geralt is apart of a bounty hunter clan (the mandalorians/witchers) and is supposed to find a child and deliver it to some bad people (its ciri/baby yoda) but doesnt and adopts her. Jaskier come in at some point idk how tho.

Gym Training AU

Trans!Jaskier wants to get buff so he passes better and gets trained by geralt. thats it.

Role Reversal AU

Jaskier is a witcher (he still has a smaller frame. I think hes more of an assassin and more stealth based.) and Geralt is a moody musician (i dont think he sings) Somehow geralt gets tied up with one of jaskiers hits and that how they end up travelling together. Jaskier is jealous that geralt is still huge and jacked despite being a musician.

Gender Bend AU

I just want a big muscly lesbian geralt. Jaskier is a cottage core lesbian. otherwise nothing changes.

You’ve Got Mail AU

Jaskier owns a smaller bookstore thats going to be swallowed up by witcher co. books. Just follows the movie plot. I read a really good youve got mail au fic a long time ago and i want more.

Fake Relationship AU

This is honestly my favorite au and ive yet to see it in the witcher fics. Jaskier lied to his family that hes in a relationship so that theyd stop trying to set him up, but they come to visit so he has to get Geralt to pretend to be his boyfriend. or Jaskier gets a chance to go to a resort or on a cruise and play for the guests but its a married couples only thing so he brings geralt along and they have to pretend to be a happy married couple. Triss and Yen are there and onto them the whole time.

Soulmate AU

i havent seen any witcher fics with a classic soulmate au. there is plenty to pick from. One could be matching birthmarks and jaskier ( or geralt) figures out that the other has the matching birthmark but is scared to tell cause “witchers cant feel”

Mechanic AU

Jaskier keeps “accidentally” breaking things so the hot mechanic will come fix it.

Circus AU

geralt is a strong man or “beast” tamer and jaskier is some artsy shit idk. Concept: jaskier is a trapeze artist and he sings while he does it so hes the “song bird”. Yen can be a fortune teller or some shit.

Are you okay with a Falsettos request with Jason? Basically it starts when the reader & Jason are young. She watches him play a baseball game. After she is like “You did great. Um... I like like you...” then she awkwardly kisses him on the lips. She runs away before he can say anything. He doesn’t like her. Then when they are older he starts liking her. They go to a dance at school & he is like “I like like you too.” And kisses her.

“Come on (Y/N), my game is about to start,” Jason called out to his friend. (Y/N) came running up to him with a big grin on her small face. “You can go sit with my dad and mom!” He points at where Marvin and Trina are sitting, together with Whizzer.

“Who is that man sitting next to your dad?” (Y/N) asked curiously as she pointed at Whizzer. Jason sighs and rolls his eyes, he always wondered why she couldn’t stop asking questions sometimes.

“That’s his friend Whizzer, he is around a lot,” Jason told her as he pushed her towards his dad. “Go sit down now.” (Y/N) smiled before running over to Marvin and Trina.

(Y/N) and Jason had known each other for almost all the 10 years they’ve been around. They lived in the same neighborhood so they were quite close friends. They were in the same class too. (Y/N) loved being around Jason and she’d been getting those weird feeling around him.

The match began and Jason couldn’t manage to hit a single ball or pass a single run. (Y/N) didn’t care, she thought he did great anyway. Jason walked up to where his family and his friend were sitting.

“Jason, you did great!” (Y/N) exclaimed as she ran towards him. Her parents were talking to Trina and Marvin until the two kids were ready chatting. She looked around if no one was watching them. “I… ehm… I like you.” She whispered before giving him a quick and awkward peck on the lips.

Jason looked at her in disgust and she just giggled embarrassedly before running off to her parents.

Marvin and Trina came walking up to him. “Awh, do you like (Y/N)?” Trina asked as she kneeled down in front of her son. Jason made a barfing sound before shaking his head.

“I only like chess!”

You were so nervous. In a minute your best friend, Jason, would pick you up to go to the winter dance at school. You knew it was purely platonic but couldn’t help but dream. Your crush on him remained for the past 5 years.

You didn’t know why he asked you to the dance but you couldn’t complain. So, there you stood now, dressed in a beautiful red dress your mom made for you. Your hair was done and your make up was as neat as you could manage to get it.

“(Y/N), Jason is here!” Your mom called. You took a last peak in the mirror before running downstairs. Jason awkwardly stood in the doorpost, neatly in a suit and with a big bouquet of flowers in his hands.

You rushed down to give him a hug. He chuckled as he hugged you back before handing you the flowers. “My mom insisted on bringing flowers.” He grinned as you admired them.

“Awh, thanks.” You smiled. Your mom offered to put them in water in your room, so you handed them to her.

“So, ready to go?” Jason asked as he offered you his arm. You nodded happily as you took it. Marvin was outside, waiting in the car to drop them off. You got in and greeted him happily.

“Wow, Jason, you have a beautiful date.” He teased as he looked at his son. Jason rolled his eyes but laughed. You eyed him and he gave you a half grin back. The ride was silent while Jason and you occasionally giggled when looking at each other.

Marvin wished you fun when you got out and Jason took your arm. The two of you walked inside, the whole cafeteria was decorated and there was loud music playing. The two of you made your way to your shared group of friends and stayed to chat for a while.

A slow song came on and everyone giggled excitedly. Jason turned to you and offered you his hand with a smile. You were surprised but took his hand anyway. He led you to the dancefloor. You awkwardly placed your hands on his shoulder while he held onto your hips. You slowly swayed to the beat, giggling and blushing.

“Ehm (Y/N)...” Jason asked.

“Yeah?” You asked as you tried to catch his eye. He cleared his throat and avoided eye contact.

“I… I like you too.” He muttered. He now looked directly into your eyes before slowly leaning in. You gasped a bit as he pressed his lips onto your but soon melted into it. He wrapped his arms around you and pulled you close to him. You heard people cheer around you but the only thing you could focus on was Jason. Jason, who was definitely worth having a crush on for five years.

Okay so I’m going to start writing a falsettos fic (it’s going to be my first fic!) and bc you are like the best writer ever (!!!) I was wondering if you had any tips? Like not only on writing in general but writing the falsettos characters? Thank u 💞💞

Write the good and the bad. This is perhaps the most important piece of advice that I can give you. Too many times, characters are divided into two categories: the devil and the saint. The devil makes every mistake in the book, doesn’t learn any sort of lesson, and is the main and only instigator for the conflict. By contrast, the saint is innocent, forever forgiving the devil with all of their virtue and grace and never once contributing to the rising conflict. The saint is good and the devil is bad, and that makes their pairing so romantic, right? Wrong. If you want realistic characters, none of them can be devils and none of them can be saints. Every character must make mistakes, must be irrational at times, must have selfish moments. And every character must make good choices, must be kind-hearted at times, must have redeeming moments. Let your characters make mistakes but don’t let those mistakes define them. We live in a world of gray and your characters must reflect that. Also, every relationship is a world of gray - there are bad moments, and you should reflect that, and there are good moments, which should be reflected as well. In conclusion, your story should be fifty shades of gray (oh wait)

 S u b t e x t. Now, this sounds like a cringey joke, right? All fandoms squabble over a glance or an ambiguous phrasing, but that’s not the kind of subtext I’m talking about. I’m talking about the good ole Show don’t tell trick. For highly complex characters, they might not always be aware and honest about how they feel or what they want. Their actions and thoughts dictate these sorts of things but as a writer, you should never spell it out so clearly. Don’t write “Whizzer is hurt and angry that Marvin is still with Trina.” Instead, let these emotions color his actions: barbed innuendos thrown at the couple, being uncomfortable when Marvin and Trina interact, thinking cruel thoughts that the reader will recognize as petty and shallow. Show how hurt and angry he is. It’s always a gem for the reader to know something that the character doesn’t.

Clearly define the characters’ wants and needs; also, show how these two things might come into conflict with one another. The reader should always be aware of what a character wants and needs. For example, what does Whizzer want? Marvin. What does Whizzer need? Independence and individualism. These things don’t necessarily need to conflict with one another but it makes great fiction when they do. Here’s another example: what does Mendel want? Trina to be his wife. What does Marvin want? Trina to only care for and depend on Marvin. These two wants conflict with one another, creating tension between Mendel and Marvin. When combining these two conflicts (a character’s want v need; and a character’s want/need v another character’s want/need), you can create a twofront conflict that enriches your plot and deepens the suspense and drama. 

Let your characters change. Your main character should not be the exact same person at the end of the story as they were in the beginning. It shows no growth, making the story seem pointless. Your character should be changing constantly - their needs/wants could be changing, or their relationships could be changing, or their priorities could be changing. There should always be an evolution. This is true for all your characters but at least make it pronounced in your main ones. This helps your reader become more connected with both the plot and the character as they become invested in the developments.

Stay true to characterization. This is the worst problem that esp fanfic writers must tackle: how do I make my characters/story stand out among all the others without changing core elements? Well, my tip is change the circumstances without changing the character. When making plot points, ask yourself: how would Marvin react to being a celebrity? What would change about how he carries himself? What would stay the same? Think of how this character would change if circumstances were different: would he be more confident? Would he be more scared of being his true self? How would these new experiences color his relationships with others? With himself? Above all though, despite these changes, your character must stay recognizable. Their core personality traits stay the same, their insecurities more or less are still present, their relationships shouldn’t vary so much from canon. It’s a delicate balance, so godspeed.

A relationship requires cut scenes. At first glance, these scenes seem like filler. Trust me, they’re not. They are so paramount to how much your reader will care about this relationship. You should show your characters getting closer, making inside jokes, making each other laughing, giving each other butterflies, sharing secret moments. You need to show the happy moments to make your reader care about them, to make the non-happy moments cut even deeper.

Don’t erase their identities. In the case of Falsettos, don’t erase their Jewish culture and heritage. I myself have trouble with this one - not because I’m intentionally erasing their culture no, no, no. Rather, their heritage is an afterthought to the story I want to tell. That’s a horrible, horrible excuse, and it does not justify not better representing such a key element to this musical. Have their jewish culture more pronounced, okay? It doesn’t have to be apart of the plot, per se. It could be represented in the meals they’re eating, the vernacular they use, the topics of conversation they discuss. Just make their Jewish culture visible.
