summary: your first date with rosa. this is a huge risk. will it end in chemistry or up in flames.

you ran around your apartment frantically, looking for that dress, and those shoes, and whichever purse you had decided on in your mind before you realized you had no idea where any of these things were. you were a mess. normally, you wouldn’t be this nervous for a date. not even a first date. but this time was different. you were going on a date with rosa diaz, your partner at the 99th precinct for the past 8 years. you had known each other since the police academy, and you never thought that she would ever like you back. so, imagine your surprise when she casually approached you outside the precinct one cold evening last week.

“hey. are you busy friday night?” she came up to you in the parking lot, her cold hands shoved in the pockets of her leather jacket. you had hung out a few times outside of work, considering you were closer to her than anyone else you worked with. you figured she needed help moving since amy went to her apartment last week, or just wanted to hang out. “no, don’t think so. why, you got something in mind?”

you smiled and looked up at her, your hands also shoved into your pockets to protect them from the cold, new york climate. “yeah, actually.” she turned to face you entirely. “i wanna take you out. on a date.” you nearly choked on the saliva gathering in your mouth. she said it so casually, as if it wasn’t out of the blue, random, and maybe 50 other things like that. you cleared your throat and managed to spit out an answer.

“you..wanna go on a date? with me? romantically?” you asked clarifying questions, only receiving nods in return. was this a joke? or some kind of sick prank? no, rosa wouldn’t do that. she was cold and slightly off-putting, but she wasn’t cruel. actually, she was one of the kindest people you knew. you were snapped out of your thoughts by a passing vehicle, looking to the road before back up at her. “yeah. that sounds…amazing.” you nodded, hoping that she would assume the redness of your face was from the cold.

“cool. i’ll pick you up at seven.” she hopped on her bike and before you knew it, she was gone. a small headlight in the distance. you were left standing there in utter shock. and suddenly, it was friday at 6:45, and you were nowhere near prepared for this. you had a few curlers in your hair, and one shoe on when you suddenly heard a knock at the door as you ran around the room. “shit!” you said to yourself, rushing to put your shoe on and pull the curlers out of your hair before opening the door.

“hi.” you said breathlessly, one shoulder of your jacket hanging off. she stood in front of you, dressed in all black as usual, but more formal. she looked…wow. you let your eyes trace over her as she did the same to you. she smiled at you, a rare occurrence, as she stepped through the front door. “i think you have a little…” she trailed off as she reached a hand up and gently pulled a small curler out of your hair. she didn’t look away from your eyes as she did it, placing the curler in your hand and tucking your hair behind your ear.

your breath caught in your throat at the action. “i, um…i need a couple minutes.” you said breathlessly as you closed the door behind her. “you’ve been here before, make yourself at home.” you said before you walked briskly to your bedroom, making a quick move to get completely ready.

you’d finally managed to get ready, stepping out into the living room to see rosa. she was manspreading on the couch and already looking in your direction. god. “i, uh..i’m ready.” she stood up and walked slowly over to you, her eyes tracing up and down your body. “great. i was starting to worry we’d miss our reservation.” she said softly as she placed a gentle hand on the small of your back, guiding you out the door.

you made your way down the hall, stopping in the elevator. you stood next to each other, your shoulders touching. “you look good, by the way.” she said as she looked down at you. “really good.” you couldn’t help but look down and smile, tucking the same piece of hair behind your ear as she had not long ago.

“thank you.” you said as you looked up at her and met her eyes. “you also look really good.” you emphasized more than you meant to. she took her turn to look down and you saw a twitch of a smile tug at her lips. she nudged your shoulder with hers. “shut up.” she said before door opened and she suddenly grabbed your hand, interlacing her fingers with yours as she led you out to the parking lot. when she had you at her parking spot, she swung a leg over her bike and looked at you expectantly.

“you brought the bike?” you looked at her with a surprised expression. “i did. hop on.” she held her helmet out to you, disregarding her own basic safety. “you brought the bike.” you smirked as you took the helmet, a different tone lacing your voice. you straddled the bike behind her and hesitantly wrapped your arms around her waist for support as she started the ignition and began driving into the night

when you arrived at the restaurant she chose, she helped you off the bike and led you inside the restaurant. her hand returned to its place on your lower back as she gently guided you to your reserved table, pulling out your chair. you hummed quietly as she sat down in front of you. “how gentlemanly. you’re kinda soft, aren’t you?”

her head tilted slightly as she settled in her chair, the soft italian love song playing gently in the air. “shut up.” she muttered again, slightly smiling as she shook her head. you placed your orders, smiling as you talked about everything and nothing all at once. you occasionally would feel her knee brush yours under the table, or her hand would grab yours with emphasis on a statement and linger longer than it needed to.

you finished your meal and left the restaurant, feeling her hold your hand gently as you walked down the street. she would occasionally look at you, stealing and glances and subconsciously holding your hand tighter.

About me! I roleplay since ten years now, and currently doing it on discord! I write on 3rd person, and are pretty flexible when it comes to the lenght of our answers. I would just like to have a partner sending something I can work with, not just anyhting like "He kissed her." or those five words answers. I tend to like playing on a server for the two of us, with using tupperbox. I love OOC discussion, and eventually would be looking for someone who could answer regularly. Wow guys it has been a MINUTE (cough two years cough cough)! I can officially say it though, I am making a COMEBACK!

I’m going to make an effort to write one thing a week (hoping for more but I procrastinate horribly so I’m setting a low bar for myself), whether it be a one shot/imagine, a poem or just a lil snippet of a story that I think up. Mark the date people, February the 7th, I am MAKING THIS COMMITMENT. I need to bring my creativity back into my life because it has been sorely missing! Let’s see how I do folks…
