The Captains Play Stardew Valley!
I have Stardew on the brain. These are very silly.
Shunsui Kyoraku:
He never knows where the fuck his animals are because he "doesn't believe" in fencing them in. He also forgets to water his crops so he struggles in the first year because he's always broke af - not an experience he has in his real life.
He loves the whimsy of the game, especially when it comes to finding little secrets like Secret Woods or getting to Ginger Island. He reacts like a five-year-old being presented candy, it's the cutest thing. Also, he's in Stardrop Saloon almost as much as Shane is.
He never does the same thing per day, he'll have a wander down to the bottom of the map one day, mosey into town the next, explore the beach another…he's one of those people who takes "comfy game" at face value and plays in a way that's so leisurely that it's actually quite frustrating to watch. The urge to backseat game is often very hard to resist.
Favourite villager: All the women. All of them. From Jas to Evelyn, he loves every lady. Even the witch, he thinks he could fix her. He desperately wants Marnie to dump Lewis and find a man who appreciates her and feels bad for Sandy stuck by herself in Calico Desert.
Soi Fong:
Naturally, she got a cat when given the option and listening to it meow at her fills her heart with glee, but she pretends she doesn't care. She becomes offended if any of her animals give her eggs/milk/etc that aren't gold star or higher.
She absolutely hates Lewis for his terrible management and keeps asking why you can't vote to remove him as Mayor when he's so blatantly incompetent. A mystery for us all. She's also absolutely flabbergasted that Lewis is dating Marnie on the sly. She also dislikes Pierre for claiming her produce as his own.
She likes fighting monsters, when she managed to get to the desert she was thrilled at there being tougher monsters in there - she changed her tune pretty quickly when she got ganged up on by three serpents and lost some valuable treasure. She pouted about that all evening.
Favourite villager: Abigail - her tomboy attitude reminds her of someone…
Rose Otoribayashi:
Rose thinks the game is adorable at first but he quickly starts learning some of the lore and is surprised by how dark this seemingly cutesy farming simulator can get at times.
He absolutely loves the music in the games and has even tried writing songs with them as inspiration. Sometimes he just plays the game soley to wander about and vibe with whatever music is playing in the background.
He enjoys combing the beach and the tide pools or pulling up flowers and giving them to villagers. He does finish the mines but he doesn't visit them unless he has to because of a quest, he finds them gloomy and not fun to look at.
Favourite villager: This is an easy one, he's SUCH an Elliot stan. He calls him his "digital twin".
Unohana Retsu:
She completes the mines and skull cavern with ease. She can't intimidate the characters in the game with her avatar so she gets to back it up with her sword instead. Seeing the joy on her face at cutting down enemy after enemy makes you wonder if you gave her the right game.
That said, she also enjoys the cosier aspect of it - tending to her crops and animals comes quite easy to her and she's never bored by it. When confronted with cutscenes for the games she tends to be firm but fair in her advice.
She rarely faints but she likes checking in at the hospital because it reminds her of Fourth Division, so she has a lot of friendship points with Harvey and Maru especially.
Favourite villager: Harvey but also Marlon. Duality queen.
Shinji Hirako:
He has the WORST fucking luck in the mines - when he sets up bombs they explode in his face, he can never find enemies when there's a quest to do them, etc. Yet then every so often his crops will get visited by a fairy and suddenly be fully mature just when he needs them to, or he'll catch a rare fish by mistake.
He pretends to be disinterested, but he's a liar. Shinji LOVES, and I mean LOVES the tea about the villagers - when Caroline mentions she used to like to take walks by the Wizard's Tower he nearly spat out his coffee. And he actually shrieked when he found Marnie and Lewis in the bushes together - you ran into the room because you thought the idiot had stubbed his toe or something. He ships the villagers together unless he's the one courting them.
He cracks you up during the cutscenes because he says the most hilarious things in response to the villager's antics with a straight face. He goes for Lewis' jugular EVERY TIME.
Favourite villager: He likes most of them, but he has a thing for Haley - she was rude to him when he first talked to her and he developed a bit of a crush.
Byakuya Kuchiki:
It took a LONG time to persuade Mr. Uppitypants to play, but once he does he's DETERMINED to stick to a firm schedule. Too bad that's not quite how it works - he's terrible at the fishing game and it takes him forever to get the correct ones for the community centre. He buys them from the merchant whenever possible.
Spring is his favourite season because of the cherry trees. He waters his crops and checks on the animals diligently, every day, and with a complete straight face. He doesn't like being poor so his Farmer starts making bank QUICKLY.
Gets SUPER competitive during seasonal events, especially the Flower Dance. He's still salty about Abigail beating him in the Egg Race in the first year and has lowkey disliked her since then.
Favourite villager: Penny, he likes her genteel, shy nature. Reminds him a tiny bit of his wife.
Komamura Sajin:
Oh my god, he absolutely LOVES this game. Looking after animals is his absolute jam and he quickly turns his farm very profitable. He's just disappointed you can't take your dog on walks with you in the village and thinks all of them should appreciate its cuteness.
He dislikes the fishing game, not because he's bad at it but he doesn't like removing them from their home just to lounge about in your backpack, but Sajin is also duty-bound to restore that damn community centre, so…sacrifices must be made.
Also he's overjoyed when he learns you can speak to animals in the game and always goes to check the forest in case there's a new furry critter to talk to. He also befriends Krobus and the Dwarf very quickly, since he can relate to being different to everyone around him.
Favourite villager: Linus, he appreciates a guy who is in-tune with nature and just wants to live peacefully among the animals. He also is indignant when people judge the Farmer for digging through the trash, so you know, kindred spirits.
Lisa Yadomaru:
Lisa has married every bachelor and bachelorette in the game at least once - she has the save files to prove it. She says she likes to explore all the game's options but that's not true, she just wanted to know who has the spiciest lines of dialogue as your spouse.
She hates having to check the animals and crops every day so she uses sprinklers to maximum efficiency and getting the automatic feeder is a godsend. She does still like to pet them and see the cute little heart icons, though. Lisa isn't immune to cute pixellated animals.
She finds the mines kind of boring but her insatiable curiosity compels her to get to the bottom anyway, and she loves finding new clothing items to dress her character in - every time she loads the game her Farmer has some kind of new fit on.
Favourite villager: She was very upset when you told her you can't marry Sandy - Lisa calls her "desert wife". She's also fond of Maru, who reminds her slightly of Nanao.
Kensei Muguruma:
Kensei gets a horse ridiculously early on because the slow walking pace of the Farmer drives him insane, especially when he passes out just before he reaches his farm, so he goes out of his way to get a stable as soon as possible. The horse stays his favourite animal throughout the game because it goes home by itself.
The fishing game nearly made him fling the controller out of the window - especially when he had to get an octopus. You were seriously concerned he was going to straight-up snap your game in half.
He tunes into Queen of Sauce EVERY time, even when it's a re-run "just in case I missed it". He has actually tried to cook some of the recipes in the game and some of them were actually quite tasty! (He declined to attempt the Strange Bun, though.)
Favourite villager: Robin, he likes building new stuff on the farm and he finds Sebastian's cynicism refreshing in a game with mostly upbeat characters. He constantly grumbles how Demetrius isn't good enough for them.
Hitsugaya Toshiro:
He protested when you first got him to play - he's not a kid! But eventually he gave in to shut you up and soon enough he found himself drawn in, especially at the notion of it being passed down from his grandfather.
He likes unlocking things as he goes through the community centre and gets this satisfied little smirk every time he completes a bundle, even if it's an easy one. He's actually a little disappointed when he finally finishes it and doesn't have much reason to go anymore.
Hitsugaya tries to do everything so "you can't accuse him of not playing right", but he gets so salty if he has a bad time in the mine or spends ages fishing and doesn't get the right thing - then he yells at you for teasing him when he pouts. Favourite villager: Surprisingly, he's fond of Sam, he appreciates how hard he tries to stay upbeat and look after his little brother, it reminds him of when he was a kid and protecting Hinamori.
Zaraki Kenpachi:
He spends almost all of his time in the mines - as soon as he learns you can fight monsters in the game that's all he does. He's passed out in there MULTIPLE times, to the point where he was too broke to collapse anymore. Luckily he also made money quickly because he found a lot of gemstones down there.
Can never remember any of the character's names so he gives them nicknames - Evelyn and George are "the old people", Harvey is "Glasses", Haley and Sam are both "Blondie", etc.
He gets very aggravated when anybody he wants to sell to isn't there, especially when it's Clint, who he doesn't like and swears at a lot. Funnily enough he doesn't curse Marnie out the same way, even if he really wants a cow and she's too busy staring at her microwave.
Favourite villager: Marlon, he likes a man who knows his way around dangerous weapons. But unsurprisingly…he also has a soft spot for Jas.
Mayuri Kurotsuchi:
Another person it took ages to convince, but he finds it intruiging despite the simplicity of it. Mayuri isn't really interested in the villagers and instead immediately dives into all the supernatural/weird shit - he visits the Wizard's Tower every day and ends up getting the Sewers pretty early too.
He's a completionist at heart so he gets very determined about filling up the community centre quickly and gets pissy when you point out unless the merchant has a red cabbage he's unlikely to get it done by the first year.
Rarely does to any of the seasonal festivities, but he does always go to Spirit's Eve - he likes the aesthetic.
Favourite villager: He finds Krobus the most interesting and would probably invite him to live on the farm if forced to pick a spouse, but for human characters it's the Wizard.
Ukitake Juushiro:
Mr. Conflict Averse King hates it when he walks in on a cutscene that requires him to pick a side, he hates upsetting any of the villagers. He reaches ten hearts with people because he unfailingly responds in a way that will max out their affections.
He befriends Linus SO quickly because he feels bad for him. He also wishes he could help with all the problems and disapproves of the bad parenting present in the game, especially Pam and Demetrius. Shane's cutscenes involving his alcoholism made him so sad as well.
It takes him forever to get through the mines, the button mashing is hard for him and the frantic pace of Skull Cavern and the desert is enough to give the man heart palpitations.
Favourite villager: Vincent and Jas, obviously. He's got such a soft spot for little kids and his heart breaks at Jas' backstory.

Continuing my final days of ShortBox Comics Fair posts (first post here) about the process of bringing "The Maker of Grave-Goods" from idea to completion here, where I'll discuss how I take a page of comics from outline to final art.
So after writing an outline I create lots of these messy stream-of-consciousness "sketch pages" where I write/revise the script, sketch out potential panels, and start fitting them into thumbnails simultaneously. I've never written a script before drawing--the two are too thoroughly linked for me.
I then draw big thumbnails (layouts?). I usually do these at print size on templates I print out as a way to make sure all the text and details will fit/look OK at the final size. This comic was digital and this stage was mostly done in a library so I just roughed things, 2 pages to an 8.5x11 sheet.
After I completed the thumbs and did some revisions on the script, had it copy edited, etc. I moved on to pencils. I printed templates with different divisions (fourths, thirds, etc.) for reference on legal size paper, hand lettered it using an Ames guide, and drew the art using 2B and col-erase pencils. (Unfortunately the paper I used for this was awful, too thin, just the worst)
I inked the pages on nicer paper (Strathmore 400 vellum bristol) using a lightbox. I mostly used Winsor & Newton Series 7 brushes sized 000-0 and Winsor & Newton india ink; but for the lettering and small details I used Japanese nibs (Nihonji for lettering, g nibs & maru for drawing) and speedball ink. And Delter 2 ink for white fixes.
Next is what I think is the most boring part: scanning, dropping images into templates, cleaning up, re-kerning a lot the hand lettered text, to get the traditional inks ready for digital coloring. (Thanks to my partner Sam for assisting with clean-up!)
For the coloring, I wanted to bridge what I'm known for (risograph comics) with digital so decided to treat this comic like a faux two-color riso. I made up two ink colors, "grape" and "phthalo green" and created a digital riso color chart to colorpick from (left) Compare to a real printed one at right.
The coloring uses only colors on that chart and lots of color holds, gradients, big flat spot colors, and even some simulated overprinting like the 2nd panel on the left page. And a noise filter for texture on top. Overall I'm really happy with the coloring--it looks exactly how I wanted it to.
This is pretty typical of how I make comics--I hope it was informative especially if you're interested in traditional media comics making.

The First Kill and Final Girl Poll Results
My opinions and also my thoughts are below.
Haley won the first kill poll in a landslide. It makes sense, in a way. She’s the hot blonde chick, she's destined to die early. However, since she's also very high on the final girl poll, she has high preservation and she put up a decent fight without actually fighting (think of Tatum Riley from Scream).
Alex is a jock. He won’t make it far.
All I wanted to ask is WHO VOTED ELLIOTT IN THE FINAL GIRL POLL??? WHY IS HE HIGHER THAN SAM, ALEX, AND EMILY?? What the FUCK would he do? I love him and all but he would absolutely die early on. He’s always alone in his cabin and nobody visits him except for Leah and maybe Willy so he’s an easy target.
Emily absolutely knows what’s going on and who did it with her witchy crystals and prophetic dreams. She would warn others about it, especially since she knew her sister isn’t missing but instead killed, though nobody believed her. But since she knew what the hell is happening from the beginning, she needs to die.
Shane is pretty difficult to think about tbh. From the poll, he's pretty average on both and I struggle to think how he could die. But I definitely think he would die, just not that early, and he actually puts up a good fight.
Harvey's results are average as well but he is slightly higher than Shane's. He is pretty useful, as the only one of two medical professional AND the only doctor, he needs to die possibly halfway through the movie.
Sebastian has less than a percent of vote in the first kill poll but surprisingly average on the final girl poll. I get it, I think he absolutely would die but not early. In my head, he and Sam (who has a small vote for final girl and pretty high on the first kill, dear Lord you guys are adamant for this man to get killed) would die together, Fear Street 2 double kill kind of way. Pretty scenic and beautiful.
Penny is divisive. People agree that she either would be the first easy kill or she’s the final girl. I do think she’d die, but on the later parts of the movie. She’s smart so she could outwit them but she doesn’t have the body skill to easily outrun her pursuer. I’d say she'd die à la Casey Becker from Scream, where she gets killed whilst trying to run away from them.
Now, here comes the fun part.
First we have Maru. With her stat, it makes sense she made it far. She’s a genius and definitely far more durable than Penny, I’d still think she’d rather use her brain than her muscles though. But she’s very useful, she’s one of the only medical professional and with Harvey dead, she’s the only one left. So, I think she would die near the end of the movie.
Second, Leah. Definitely a final girl material. Plus point other than her muscles is that she’s familiar with the wilderness, she knows her way if she needs to run to the forest to hide. And I think she’s the equilibrium to brain and brawn. But she’s not the winner of the poll so she had to die, though she won’t go down without a fight.
Lastly, we have our final girl.
Okay, raise your hands if you’re surprised because this is very predictable.
Abigail is a final girl material TO THE T. She’s vulnerable yet strong and skilled of a combatan enough to fight back the pursuer. And you know what’s lacking with Leah and Maru? They would hesitate to do stupid things that protagonists do, and Abigail would make stupid decisions that’d endanger her or her friends (the latter possibly causing their deaths).
Anyways, uh.. I can’t draw for shit so here’s a picrew of bloody Abigail with a badge I hastily made in canva. Congrats girl! Now hopefully you’ll get therapy, Lord knows you need them after losing everyone you love.
BONUS: the final scene in my head is Abigail sitting in her battered kitchen with a cup of hot green tea. She didn’t drink the tea, not even a sip. She instead stared into her reflection as the camera pans out for the viewer to peek Caroline’s mangled body adjacent to the stove, blood splattered on the powder blue walls then it cuts to black.

Spock programming the Kobayashi Maru makes no sense to me. Why would Spock SPOCK of all people be in charge of programming a lesson to teach command cadets how to process a no-win scenario. The entire point of the lesson is about emotion vs command decisions and has nothing to do with the science division. Did he lose a bet or something.
#or even if it wasn't just for comman cadets (i don't remember) the entire lesson is about command i still dunno what it has to do with#anything spock would have been doing at the academy

Why would Maru do that to Solar, to his Empire? Isn't he working for the Empire?
Thank you for asking :33
Regarding this issue, I will talk about the structure of Empire of Rising Sun a bit. This is a multicultural kingdom, although they appear united on the outside, they are not close. Even the most loyal members still have “spy” monitoring them from above and below. That's the case with Maru and Solar. Although they came from the same "biological" division, Maru is ordered to monitor Solar in case Red Sun's healing powers fall into the hands of someone else.
Kamikaze and Kaminari also have other eyes and ears in the Army and Air Force monitoring them. When those people discovered that the two of them had held MARU's documents, Empire did not hesitate to eliminate them so they wouldn't spread the information out. Maru is responsible for stopping Solar from coming to save them.
Basically, Empire operates as if people of similar power both trust each other and are willing to stab any of their partners in the back.

Interview by Soichiro Morita in Weekly Toyo Keizai magazine, Translated by @SupaChronicles (link to Twitter thread) (transposed below, minus the first chunk which is talking about how financially successful Dragon Ball is as a franchise)
In March, the original author Akira Toriyama passed away, much to the regret of many. However, the momentum of Dragon Ball shows no signs of slowing down and continues to accelerate worldwide. Regarding its appeal, those involved unanimously agree: "It's the simplicity. When we analyzed why the games became hits in North America, it seemed that the straightforwardness of 'Let's fight to see who is the strongest,' which can be enjoyed without much thought, resonated with people," said an insider from Bandai Namco Group. Major Uproar Due to "Person-in-Charge Going Independent" Last year, there was an incident that caused an uproar in the business over this work [Dragon Ball]. In May 2023, Akio Iyoku, former head of Shueisha's Dragon Ball Room*, went independent with several subordinates and established a new company, Capsule Corporation Tokyo, named after a fictional company that appears in the series, with the aim of managing creative activities and handling intellectual property rights. Mr. Iyoku became the head of the Dragon Ball Room in 2016 after serving as Editor-in-Chief of V Jump. A Shueisha insider recalls, "Without consulting his superiors, Mr. Iyoku unilaterally decided to make a film adaptation of Toriyama-sensei's 'SAND LAND'. He always focused on serving the author, for better or worse. At the same time, there was criticism from anime production companies and TV networks that he had a condescending attitude." In addition to these evaluations, progress was lacking in collaborations with the metaverse and AI that higher-ups were anticipating. As a result, in 2022, he was reassigned to a new business department. This unwelcome transfer became the trigger and within a year, Iyoku went independent. Taking over the role of Toriyama's spokesperson on behalf of Shueisha, Iyoku's actions raised the risk of Shueisha losing its 'Dragon Ball' rights. "Toriyama-sensei was also dissatisfied with Iyoku being removed, as he trusted him the most. Chairman Marue Horiuchi of Shueisha even went directly to Toriyama's residence in Aichi Prefecture, but he couldn't persuade him to stay," said the aforementioned Shueisha insider. This put Bandai Namco, which had been making a fortune with games with 'Dokkan Battle', in a difficult position. "Iyoku, who was Toriyama-sensei's spokesperson, became independent, but the rights to the manga were managed by Shueisha. It was unclear who to consult regarding matters related to the original work." "Meetings about Dragon Ball were organized very vaguely, with 'all relevant parties' being invited, which subtly included both Iyoku and Shueisha representatives, making the coordination extremely stressful," said the aforementioned Bandai Namco insider. Toriyama's passing occurred amidst this battle over rights. The discussions continued without the original author, and "the disputes have been ongoing and still remain unresolved," noted a Shueisha employee. Some industry executives are looking towards a resolution that involves the family, saying, "It depends on how the family feels about it." The question remains who will ultimate take the lead in managing this massive IP. The future of the bogged-down battle, which is not befitting a shonen manga, remains unclear.
*The Dragon Ball Room was/is a division within Shueisha (publisher of Shonen Jump) that was dedicated exclusively to Dragon Ball, founded in 2016, basically after Battle of Gods and Resurrection 'F' reminded everyone Dragon Ball was still unbelievably massively popular.
tl;dr: In 2023, the guy responsible for managing the Dragon Ball IP- Akio Iyoku- decided to break away from Shueisha and form a new company intended to manage the Dragon Ball IP, with Toriyama's encouragement. This was after Iyoku got demoted internally for being more loyal to Akira Toriyama than to Shueisha with some business decisions that are, in my opinion, Very Good and signal him as being an True-Blue Akira Toriyama Guy. Unfortunately, Toriyama's passing occurred while this was all going on, so the situation is really rough, especially for licensors like Bandai Namco (and presumably Toei) who aren't really sure who to consult for forthcoming projects.

According to the file, they’re a mutant with the power of MERMAID PHYSIOLOGY & WATER MANIPULATION. That must be why they’re PATIENT and STUBBORN. If you ask me, they remind me of a touch as soft as the ocean’s current, the smell of sea salt and cocoa butter upon satin sheets, a lighthouse beyond the haze of a storm. They are affiliated with MOONSCAR. ( maru, 26, est, she/her )

moral alignment: Neutral Good
occupation: Kindergarten Teacher
work sector: Sector 4

3 positive traits: Patient, Empathetic, Determined
3 negative traits: Stubborn, Guarded, Naive
biography (optional): coming soon !
questionnaire:
how do they feel about living in sol city? have they always lived there or did they travel from another settlement?
Born in Lunar Bay, a quieter, ocean-side settlement that managed to rebuild through resourcefulness and a tightly knit community, she found solace in the rhythmic waves and the relatively slower pace of life compared to Sol City’s buzzing atmosphere. When Lyric moved to Sol City as a teenager with her family, she was struck by its towering fortifications, advanced technology, and dense population. At first, it was awe-inspiring—the city’s vibrancy promised opportunities her home settlement could never provide. Yet over time, she found herself missing Lunar Bay’s open skies and calming waters. The constant hum of tension in Sol City—the echoes of prejudice toward mutants, the fear of threats lurking beyond the walls, and the endless grind to reclaim some semblance of normalcy in a fractured world—feels like a weight she can’t quite escape. Despite her misgivings, Lyric acknowledges Sol City’s importance. It’s a hub of survival and innovation, a beacon of hope in an otherwise desolate and dangerous world.
do they trust the council’s leadership? why or why not?
Lyric views the Council of Sol City with a mix of skepticism and reluctant acceptance. While she acknowledges the monumental task of maintaining order in a fragile, post-apocalyptic world, she finds it difficult to fully trust the Council’s leadership. Growing up, she witnessed how the Council fostered division by framing mutants as the "other," even long after the X-Virus was neutralized. To Lyric, this lingering bias hindered the city’s ability to rebuild not just physically, but emotionally. She believes the Council’s tendency to focus on controlling the population has left little room for healing the societal wounds caused by the past century of fear and trauma.
if they chose their sector and profession, why did they make that choice? if they didn’t, why not? were they happy with their assignment or not?
Lyric chose to become a kindergarten teacher because she believes in the transformative power of education and creativity, especially in a world as fractured as theirs. Growing up in Lunar Bay, she saw firsthand how storytelling, compassion, and mentorship shaped her own sense of hope and resilience during difficult times. When her family moved to Sol City, she realized the children there carried an even heavier burden—growing up amidst suspicion, fear, and the echoes of a world destroyed.
what’s one object that they always keep on their person?
Lyric always keeps a hand-carved pendant shaped like a small seashell around her neck. The pendant was a gift from her father, made from driftwood collected along the shores of Lunar Bay, her childhood home.
what is your character’s ability (or abilities)?
Lyric’s abilities stem from her unique physiology: whenever she comes in contact with water, her legs transform into a sleek, iridescent tail. Alongside her mermaid transformation, Lyric possesses the power to manipulate water, allowing her to control its movement with grace and precision. She can shape water into flowing sculptures, create protective barriers, or summon gentle streams to comfort and soothe. Her abilities are an extension of her artistic nature, often used to inspire her students or calm tense situations. Though she keeps these powers subtle and understated in Sol City, wary of drawing attention to her differences, Lyric sees her gifts as a natural reflection of her bond with the sea and her determination to bring beauty and harmony to a broken world.
are they gen i or gen ii?
Lyric is a gen ii mutant. Her mother, once a healer by profession, gained the ability to accelerate cellular regeneration, allowing her to heal physical injuries and even regrow lost limbs, though it’s a process that drains her energy significantly. Her touch can mend the wounds of others, but each act of healing takes a toll on her own vitality. Lyric’s father, a former engineer, developed the power of electromagnetic manipulation. He can generate and control magnetic fields, allowing him to move metal objects with ease, manipulate technological devices, or create protective fields of force. His powers, while valuable, often create electrical surges that can disrupt nearby tech, a constant reminder of the unpredictable nature of the X-Virus mutations. These combined abilities were in large part the reason in which they were both transferred to Sol City.
what can your character do? what are their strengths?
Lyric is essentially a mermaid with the ability to transform into her aquatic form she comes into contact with water, gaining enhanced speed and agility. She can also manipulate water, using it to create protective barriers, sculpt flowing patterns, or soothe others with gentle currents.
what can’t they do? what are their weaknesses?
When not in contact with water, Lyric feels less powerful and unable to transform into her mermaid form. On the other hand, she can also be limited in movement when splashed with water at inopportune times. Additionally, her water manipulation abilities require a lot focus and concentration, and in chaotic situations, she can struggle to control them effectively, especially if she's overwhelmed or anxious.

OBL Preview - Pelican Stars
Record: 27W - 20L - 3T
League: 5th, Myth Division: 2nd
By all indications, the Pelican Stars were supposed to be the team to beat in the Outlandish Baseball League last season. Though they didn't have the super powerful bats or otherworldly arms of the other teams in the league, these humble players from Stardew Valley had the fundamentals and team chemistry to make a championship run.
Despite a strong 6W - 0L - 2T start to the season, though, they would eventually get caught by their division rival Shards United due to a collapse in pitching as they lost 6 of their last 8 games. They would be eliminated from the playoffs in the first round along with Midgar Station, ending their postseason earlier than any had expected.
The collapse was surprising and sudden, as nearly all of the seemingly strong array of pitchers found themselves unable to keep a lead. Harvey Myers in particular struggled in the second half of the season, giving up 10 runs in just 4 starts, and the team giving up 30 runs in that horrid 8 game stretch.
It wasn't for lack of trying on the offensive side. The team batted well throughout the season, with Caroline Hawker and Alex Picker being in the top 10 in the league in nearly every category. Caroline, in particular, finished just 1 home run and 7 RBI behind Cloud Strife of Midgar Station. And it would be negligent to place all the troubles at the feet of the pitchers: team captain Lewis Alderman was strong throughout the season, earning 6 wins and consistently pitching into the 7th inning with a lead.
The team now hopes to face a new season stronger than ever, with fundamentals still being the focus. With the least changes to the lineup in the league, the Stars hope consistency will be key to another playoff appearance and a run to the championship.

Name: Doctor Poison First Appearance: Sensation Comics 2 (1942) Creators: William Marston and H.G Peter Abilities: Doctor Poison is an expert in the use of poisons, toxins, and plagues, and in addition to her scientific expertise, is now a trained soldier.
Backstory: One of Wonder Woman’s oldest villains, Dr. Poison’s origin has a wartime theme, like many of the era: a dark and devious scientist with a knack for creating destructive state-of-the-art toxins. Her identity has seen alterations over time (4 so far), but she continues to be a dangerous threat to the world—her specific skill set and consistent military ties allowing her to remain disturbingly relevant in modern times.
Originally the Chief of the Nazi Poison Division in league with German spies, Dr. Poison wore a mask and a bodysuit that hid her identity and made her gender ambiguous, but at the end of her debut story, she was revealed to be a Japanese princess appropriatly enough named Maru, the Japanese word for poison. Her debut toxin was a drug called ‘Reverso’, which altered a victims brain to do the opposite of what they were told- particularly troublesome when used against military troops reliant on orders to advance, retreat or stand down. Dr. Poison is ultimately captured and forced to give up the antidote, but would go on to other comic appearances and villainous team-ups with several of Diana’s most notable adversaries.
Other inventions concocted by Princess Maru included anesthetic gas grenades, stadium quantity amounts of paralyzing gas, and a projectile toxin which could ‘poison planes’ causing them to abruptly drop from the sky to their destruction.
Post-Crisis, Doctor Poison was reintroduced to the pages of Wonder Woman as scientist Marina Maru, granddaughter of the original Doctor Poison. Marina would also wear a full bodysuit and beneath her mask was the same psychotic grin. We then learn of her grandmother’s fate: infected by Reverso, her growth patterns are disrupted causing her to grow younger, eventually regressing into a fetus and disappearing! As Marina puts it, “Horrible end…wonderful poison.” She was then updated during New 52 as a vengeful Russian scientist known only as Dr. Maru, whose parents were wrongfully imprisoned. She planned to take revenge against the government through chemical attacks, but Diana is able to stop her.
More recently, she has become Colonel Marina Maru, a soldier with physical scarring, who still deals in chemicals. Her family helps create a bio-agent that causes its victims to fly into a rage, killing anything in sight. While notably different than previous incarnations, Colonel Maru still looks the part—she even wore her version of the suit and cowl worn by the second Doctor Poison, complete with the caduceus over her eye, and would battle Diana once more.
