Fire, Fire

Some personal favorite old superhero ocs of mine! I’ve been working on these characters this past week in the Parallels universe, and realized I never really drew them together given their similar powers, so I fixed it!! Martin/Silverflame is a hero who grew up at The Simmons Institute and gained technology and knowledge on how to use his powers, and Maddie/Corona is his mentee/protege who needed some guidance with her burgeoning abilities, so she was paired off with him.

Maddie is a real hothead, and Martin is way more levelheaded than her (which he has to be given his job working in the ER as a surgeon), so they balance each other out pretty well on the field, and Maddie learns to be more diplomatic like her mentor instead of raring for a fight with a supervillain~

Maddie isn't a fan of her mom dating her superhero mentor at first. In fact, she feels betrayed by both of them dating behind her back since she wasn't ready to move on with a new dad in her life since she feels like it's betraying her dead father in a way. There's a lot of friction for a while before she comes to terms with things and sees that her mom and mentor are really, genuinely happy together 😌

I've been digging through all my sketchbooks to find really old Parallels character art to redraw and stumbled upon one of the first pictures of Martin I ever drew (below the cut)!

2009 was when I started to tentatively dip into drawing people--and men--so it's very apparent that I had no idea what I was doing when it came to anatomy and structure LOL
