If we’re in trouble, just throw a Dragonborn at the problem and hope for the best.

Akatosh: "I'm so good at daddying."
Alduin and his siblings running around Tamriel burning cities without supervision and its paarthurnax who has to deal with his brother's bullshit, Miraak sobbing in Hermaeus Mora's reddit mods dungeon, the dragonborn shouting Fus Ro Dah in Whiterun for shit and giggles, and Martin is eternally depressed

Has anyone else in the Elder Scrolls fandom ever considered the reason that we have the last Dragonborn in Skyrim is because back in the Oblivion days, Martin Septim probably did the dirty with someone back when he was in the cult of Sanguine, unintentionally creating a branch of dragon blooded heirs all the way down to Skyrim

what (or who) convinced y'all to get into tes?
i think when I was about 15 a family friend showed me skyrim since i was already into fallout, and she was showing me her dunmer assassin with her little house and her wife and I was like 'yea that looks pretty cool, i might try it out sometime'
however as soon as she mentioned there were cat people I immediately went 'OH FUCK I need this game RIGHT NOW' lmao I don't even remember if I knew anything else about the game! the existence of the khajiit was all I needed to know (and that you could be gay)

Bisexuality is having your Hero of Kvatch totally in love with Martin Septim and then having your Dragonborn totally in love with Serana.

Not that Bethesda would do this but there is a way that the Septim bloodline could continue and it gives me an idea for an oc
Remember before his time in the temple of Kvatch Martin was a follower of Sanguine
The reason why I bring this up is because you can probably assume that Sanguine followers would have yk orgies and I think in general Sanguine worshippers are very sexually promiscuous
So what I am saying is there could be some lady Martin slept with and got her pregnant and then two hundred years down the line when The Last Dragonborn arises it is revealed that The Last Dragonborn is actually the great grandchild of Martin Septim

The Dragonborn's Inferno
Since my silly little post about wanting to write a crossover TES/Divine Comedy garnered a lot of interest I decided to go ahead and give it a shot! This is a little scene I'm working on for Canto I of Inferno.
Tagging those who showed interested in reading: @greyborn2 @lucien-lachance @thana-topsy @naturalbornlosers @ladytanithia @alicehealer @abstractredd @saffronornah @faenamoonseeker @notoriousbastardlover @alpha-centauriiae <3
Thank you so much for your interest it was really motivating, I hope you enjoy!
Canto I
Ascended half-way up the mountain  I found myself obscured in snow Confused, and I knew I lost the way
There was no way to tell where I was The snow blowing wildly in the wind To remember it sends a shiver down my spine
The wind so biting, but not worse than death itself Arkay’s embrace had eluded me that day For there was good to be found on that mountain
The wind had cleared to let me see That I was at the Throat of the World All of Tamriel within my vision
I could see much further than any time prior From the Adamantine Tower in High Rock To the festering jewel of Black Marsh
But the view did not remain mine alone For from behind me came the roar of a troll A frost troll, one that I had recognized
Having fought this valiant foe before I was surprised to have found it again Especially now, on one such day
The troll lunges for my arm Narrowly dodging it’s fearsome claws I went to ready an attack
I did not have time to go on the offence For a golden figure appeared between the troll and I Reduced it to nothing but dust
“Have mercy on me you, you the man before me” I shouted to the figure A figure which transformed into a man
A man of simple robes And medium length tawny hair Stood before me, his smile warm
“No longer a man, but in my mortal life I was one. I was born in the Imperial Province A commoner, meant to fulfill a divine purpose.
My youth was spent in debauchery, Until I found the Divines. Who never intended for me to rule.”
How could I have not known? I open my mouth to speak Fearful of stuttering in his presence
“For you are Emperor Martin Septim,
The leader, the martyr, who died for Tamriel. You who embodied Akatosh in that great battle.”
I finished my statement by bowing Grateful that he had appeared to me To know that I did not walk this plane alone
“I come to you now, in my true form, Despite it all, in my heart I am but a priest, acting in his will”
Gesturing for me to stand up,  I obeyed the Emperor To which he spoke again to me
“You who have lived a thousand lives Dragonborn does not cover the extent of you life” The Avatar of Akatosh tells me
“You who have been Listener and Guildmaster, Moon-born and Vampire,  Stormcloak and Legionnaire”
I was humbled by his kind words That the Hero of the Oblivion Crisis And last true Emperor, would even speak to me
“You flatter me my liege But I stand but a humble individual Graced in your divine light”
And I continued to speak my praises “You who, along with the Hero of Kvatch Succeeded in destroying Mehrunes Dagon”
Through the grace of Akatosh, he laughed A slight chuckle in good will Divinity had only increased his kindness
“I say nothing that is untrue friend,  For I who has always known you,  See in my heart you, truly, as Akatosh’s chosen”
The Avatar of Akatosh himself Saw me as an equal, even if my actions  Pale in comparison to his
“Please, my Emperor, tell me about that day! The day Kvatch was attacked!” I plead with him
A warm smile emerged on his face “I’m afraid most memories have left me, Memories of my dear friend are gone.”
“Though I may not remember their name, Nor do I remember their face, I do remember the warmth of their friendship”
His eyes closed, basking in the memories “But I do not you are not unlike them Both prisoners burdened by destiny”
A moment of silence fell between us I waited for the last Septim to break it To which he did
“We must make haste Dragonborn,  For I have been asked to guide you. Another divine quest is asked of you”
And so we left that mountain The highest point in Tamriel Followed his lead into the void.

At the thought of the Blades, a pang of homesickness shot through her. Leara missed the comforting familiarity of Cloud Ruler Temple and the Knight Brothers and Sisters as they worked and trained. Back then, she was nothing more than one of many watching for the return of the Dragonborn. Things were different then. Never could any of them have dreamed that quiet, studious Elanor was the Dragonborn they waited for. Not even Elanor herself. No, things were simple. Leara missed the smell of dust motes and old leather in the library, the gleam of polished katanas and Akaviri armor lining the armory, and the knowing portraits of the Septim Emperors lining the gallery. She missed her home.
Bishop was glaring at Arngeir as he approached, but Leara didn’t see. Her mind was cast back to the Blades’ temple, to the faces of the Dragonborn rulers of old. Martin Septim’s eyes, painted blue like the noon waters of Lake Rumare, stared down at her, silent and watching. Weighing her destiny against his legacy. His mouth was drawn in a line. Wise, one of her Knight Brothers once said. Exhausted, sighed a Knight Sister. Judging, thought Leara. Judging her failure against his success.
Martin Septim’s gaze still weighed down on her despite the decades and miles between the last time she saw that portrait and now. It was ashes now, that and the rest of the portraits and the temple and her order. The Septims were dead. There was no one left. By the grace of Akatosh, she was made Dragonborn, and she was wasting her energy on whatever measuring contest Bishop was trying to start with the Greybeards! If she didn’t focus, then the rest of the world would join Cloud Ruler Temple in the ashes.

Martin Septim, the Dragon. Definitely my favorite member of the Septim dynasty: smart, ex-dark magic user, sweet, humbly heroic and divine at heart to the point that, the moment before witnessing his transfiguration, I yelled out and called him... Tiber.

Please please tell me ANYTHING about your oc Jia because I'm so fascinated with the concept of Septim dynasty still being alive in the events of Skyrim.
(Also because I have a whole story on draft about Martin having a child who somehow was looked away for 200 years and coming back during the timeline of Skyrim)
HI!!! First off, thank you so much for the ask, and I’m so sorry in advance for the infodump that follows…🥹
So, about Jia, she’s Martin Septim’s great-granddaughter. For my story, I have outlined the plan where Martin had a fling with one of the Blade agents who were sent to find him and keep him safe during the Oblivion Crisis. Eventually, the woman became pregnant with a child, though with the Thalmor menace and the fact that she carried a Septim descendant, she managed to ‘disappear’ by fleeing Cyrodiil, changing her identity and her looks altogether, and thus successfully protecting herself and her child. The years passed peacefully, her daughter grew up and built her own family, and that was when Jia’s father was born to her. Remus is… a complicated being, but the short story is that he had the ‘gift’ of foresight, prophetic dreams like Uriel Septim VII had, and so it was revealed to him he was of the Septim dynasty, something his grandmother fought tooth and nail to hide... Those visions showed him Sky Haven Temple in Skyrim and called him towards a Nord woman who was destined to be the mother of his daughter: the last heir of the Septims, as well the Last Dragonborn—that’s my Jia. Without spoiling much, eventually, the Thalmor do discover about her father’s and later about her heritage, and well, the fact that a Septim Dragonborn walks Nirn again by the time a war of succession is ongoing on Skyrim can be quite scandalous for all sides…
Septims are very equivalent to the Targaryens from GoT, in my headcanon. Tiber Septim has very Aegon the Conqueror vibes, Pelagius the Mad can be linked to the Mad King Aerys, Uriel Septim VII to either King Jaehaerys the Wise or King Viserys the Peaceful… Also, Targaryen women were said to be very strongly connected to blood magic, and in TES we have Queen Potema with her necromantic talents… Not to mention the dragon blood and the connection to the dragons. But the most precarious trait they share is the madness. There was this saying in ASOIAF about the Targaryens, that when a new Targaryen is born the Gods flip a coin—one side of sanity and the other of madness—and the world holds its breath to see how it lands. The same can be said for Jia, a Septim and a Dragonborn, neither full dragon nor full mortal, who knows that she can seize not only Skyrim’s throne, but the Ruby Throne itself, astride Odahviing and become a tyrant and oppressor as a dragon can naturally be, ‘a plague for the future generations’ as Arngeir tells us in-game; or she can be gentle and good and fair like her great-grandfather was before her. And I’d love to see the road she’ll choose in her story…👀💖
I’m very curious, what’s your take on Martin’s secret heir appearing during the events of Skyrim? 👀

Oog do you know how fuckin;,,fun and maybe kinda tragic it would be if with the destruction of the amulet of kings and the mantling of akatosh by Martin, the vast majority of the empire's wealth was sealed off? The amulet as far as I understand it represented the divine right to rule of the dragonborn, and with magic being very real on nirn, it could stand that losing what proves they have the right to rule also locks off the wealth of generations of conquerors,,,,,so when the medes get to the capitol and take over and maybe expect all this newfound wealth they're entitled to,,,many thoughts 👀

Paarthurnax (or “the Old One” according to other dov) is the leader of the Greybeards and the first friendly dragon that the Last Dragonborn comes across in the Main Questline. He assists the Last Dragonborn throughout the game and is also available to help them Meditate on the Words of Power (Fus, Feim, and Yol) which can give some bonus effects to certain Shouts when the Last Dragonborn uses them.
Biography
During the Merethic Era, Paarthurnax was a lieutenant under Alduin who committed and witnessed many atrocities against “mankind” (specifically Nords) but ultimately defected, and alongside mortals, he betrayed Alduin and taught men how to use the Thu’um. Mankind prevailed and won the Dragon War, with Paarthurnaxx retiring to the Throat of the World to continue battling his lust for power. He also became a follower of the Way of the Voice during this time, a pacifist creed created by Jurgen Windcaller that stated Thu'um should be used for worship rather than the glory of battle. Paarthurnax l became the Greybeard’s grandmaster but would continue to live in isolation at the peak of the mountain.
During the First Era, Paarthurnax would continue to live in isolation but did make visits to Numinex who was trapped in Dragonsreach.
During the Fourth Era, Paarthurnax would assist the Last Dragonborn in defeating Alduin during the Dragon Crisis, helping them with tasks such as finding and learning the Dragonrend Shout and helping them reach Sovngarde to ultimately defeat Alduin. At one point in the Main Questline, the Blades (Delphine and Esbern) will ask the Last Dragonborn to slay Paarthurnax due to the atrocities committed during the Dragon War that he was complicit in. If the player chooses to not kill him, then he will be present for the Epilogue of the game. He will comment on his desire to teach the Way of the Voice to his brethren and can then be found perched on the Throat of the World’s Word Wall and will continue helping the Last Dragonborn Meditate on Shouts. To continue with the Blade Questline in Skyrim, the Last Dragonborn must kill Paarthurnax.
Cool Quotes
“Dov wahlaan fah rel. (Dragons were created for domination.) We were made to dominate. The will to power is in our blood. You feel it in yourself, do you not?”
“Dahmaan (Remember) - remember, Alduin also follows his destiny, as he sees it.”
“Lot krongrah. (Great victory.) You truly have the Voice of a dovah. Alduin’s allies will think twice after this victory.”
“But I cannot celebrate his fall. Zu’u tiiraaz ahst ok mah. (I am sad at his fall.) He was my brother once. This world will never be the same."
